Hey all, thanks for the feedback! I just wanted to pop in here real quick to let you know that we’re looking at ways to balance out skills and traits that were affected by the quickness change.
Right now, Thief is still very good in WvW, so we have to take that into consideration. Also, in lower rated games, it is still doing well with its burst. In higher rated games, we recognize that it could use some tweaks.
These are things that we need to consider when making changes to the Thief, so try to keep that in mind when giving us feedback.

Thanks for all the suggestions, folks. We do appreciate it. The vast majority of issues have to do with building a platform game in an MMO engine. We’ve been attacking as many of these problems as we can, and our programming genius, Dan, has really done some amazing things. But we still have a ways to go before we can get most of these quirks out of the system, and I suspect some of them will simply always be there. Some of them are conscious decisions, such as the way jumping works. We scaled everyone down to Asura size (more or less) which means your collision box extends past your feet a bit. The down side is that you can effectively float off of edges a bit, and this can make jumping seem a bit wonky at first. But honestly, you just get used to it. It’s like whenever I start playing Super Mario Bros. or Sonic after not playing them for a while they feel terrible, but after a little while you change your perception and start working WITH the system rather than against it. The reason we like the smaller size and feel that it’s worth the floatyness is that you FEEL like you are jumping much higher and further than you normally do. And that feel is VERY important in jumping games. So that’s a preference thing, and as such, some will like it and some won’t. We can’t please everyone. Same goes for jumping distances. I created a tool that I use that is basically a big measuring stick with a rainbow on it, so I have all the jumps color coded from easy blue to very hard red. I made the critical path never get above yellow in world 1. But optional secrets and such I used a couple reds.
The reason bombs and slingshot are swapped out is because those will have upgrades in future worlds that cost more to use, and we don’t want you to be forced to throw 10-bauble bombs to open a secret door. (The Super Finisher you can get for PvP is the explosion for the final bomb upgrade btw.)
The powerup barrel placement simply suffered from being too last-minute and Lisa and I never got coordinated enough to get them in proper useful spots. Top of my list for the next release.
I love the idea of a different outcome for NOT destroying the guy’s cart. I think we’ll have him tip you for keeping it safe.
No one on our team is having the problems listed here with the King Toad. I always click on his face to select him before I throw the shard and I’ve never had any problems. Also, in an attempt to to get that retro boss feel, I specifically designed the arena is such a way that you HAVE to use it. (unless you are really good at dodging) It’s got a couple safe spots. It even has a safe spot from the tongue in case you miss your window to choke him and are bad at dodging.
We’ll look into the shovel issue. None of us have experienced this problem, but I have seen a Youtube vid where someone dug twice on a spot that I know we put a treasure and they got nothing. So research is required.
Queen Bee Dog will go unwhippable.
I’m compiling a list, so if you feel like I didn’t address something that you brought up, let me know. Thanks all! I’m very comfedent that World 2 will be much better than 1 since we’ve learned so much, and we’ll be updating 1 as well.
We will leave this thread open, but will keep an eye on it. If it will get derailed or something like the earlier “incident” will take place, we will close it immediately.
We understand that leaderboards are very important to you, but please understand that we also want to make sure they work as intended, because I am very sure incorrectly working leaderboards would not make a highly competitive PvP base happy. We will let you know when they will be going live as soon as we feel comfortable to do so.
So please keep the discussion in this thread civil and on point.
I really encourage you to contact Support by filing a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page. They will be able to assist you. For tips on what information to provide in a ticket, please read this post and provide as much as possible to expedite the ticket.

Augustus — you were reported for offensive language, and the chat records confirmed that breach which is why you were suspended.
We are all pretty savvy about the concept of “griefing,” and our system doesn’t allow someone to arrange another player’s suspension simply through mass reporting. Each report is reviewed and —whether one or one hundred--the report must be confirmed by a team member before any suspension is meted out.

I also got banned without a warning. At least you know the reason why you got banned. In my case I’m still waiting for the Support to tell me a reason
It’s my understanding that when people get suspended (you were not banned!) they receive an in-game message that usually tells them why. (They also normally get a message when there account is terminated, which is the true meaning of the word “ban.”)
In your case, Lonny, you were suspended for spamming. You should have seen a message explaining that when you were booted from the game due to the suspension, or when you tried to log in. I am following up on that to make sure we’re giving info in the case of most suspensions and terminations. However, a lot of times people post in the forums having seen the message but claiming that they don’t understand why they were “banned.” (Meaning suspended.) I think what they’re doing is protesting the suspension, but that most of the time they are getting in-game messaging that tells them the reason for the suspension.
Your account has been reinstated, and you’re free to play the game now. However, I would ask anyone who is tempted to post a “I don’t know why I was banned or suspended” thread to look at the in-game message before posting. If you do not receive any details in the game, then you have a legitimate question that should be addressed to Support via a ticket. If you do see the details and wish to argue about them, then you need should submit a ticket. In either case — knowing and not agreeing with the decision, or truly not knowing — the best way to get the answer is by contacting Support by filing a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page. They will be able to assist you.
Thanks for understanding.

It is definitely not intentional and we are looking into it.
So you guys are adding more weapons along with the new worlds? Am I reading that right? I want to know cause I don’t want to spend my bauble bubbles on other weapons if I can get one of the ones that I would prioritize.
I’m not going to make ANY promises. Developing a AAA MMO with a constant stream of free content is new territory. There are no guarantees. But I can say that it is fully my INTENTION to release new worlds and weapon skins. Our team is part of Living World now, so we will be developing more content. I simply can’t make any promises about what it will be because we have to make decisions that are best for GW2 as a whole.
Personally, Engineer is my favorite class, both in looks and to play. Believe me, I wasn’t happy that I can’t deck out my Engie with SAB gear. And I fully intend to rectify that with the next SAB release. As for WHEN that release will be… see the above paragraph.

I think how efficient/effective the TP is and the design for end game rewards design, despite being inherently linked, are two separate topics. If we want to talk about end game reward design we should start a new thread.
Given that people were unable to keep this discussion on-topic and related to Guild Wars 2, even after my warning, I’ll have to lock this thread. In the future, please stay on topic. Thank you.

Applying any upgrade to an item will soulbind it to you. (There’s a warning when you apply the upgrade.) The display isn’t updating correctly, though.
Mods are much more flexible because people can pick and choose exactly what version they prefer. Since we don’t have that luxury, we need a catch-all solution. Or customizable UI.

I would love to find of a solution to this problem. Its a big barrier for new players learning the game.
Brain dump:
How many of your own cooldowns must you know to be effective. Skills? Traits? Sigils? Runes? Attunements? Kits? Transforms? Everything?
How many cooldowns are too many cooldowns / whats the minimum number to know?
Same question for enemies. How much skill is involved with remembering enemy cooldowns?
Would this new piece of UI benefit PvE the same amount?
Where could this UI live?
First thing that pops into my mind would look just like the quick-loot tray on the right side of the screen with a scrolling list of ordered cooldowns showing name/icon. (No loot in PvP)
I can’t think of any way this could work for enemies.

Darkness Commander,
Are you including the Infantile Mode Achievement in your calculations? That achievement will not count towards your progress in Minor in Achievement.

Do Experience Boosters work with WXP?
And if not, will WXP Boosters be introduced at some point?
No and yes.
Experience Boosts will not increase your World XP rewards and we do have intentions to add a World Experience Boost in the future.
What’s your end goal? As stated by others above, Customer Support isn’t often a pathway to development. A more typical path for people interested in development is to start in Quality Assurance (testing) and demonstrate that you have solid technical skill and game knowledge. This can often get you started in basic design—usually doing low level “grunt work” that can lead to more advanced design work.
Speaking for myself, I started 20 years ago at “that other MMO company” in technical support, worked on the web site, started doing technical art and design, and eventually was made an official designer. Since then I’ve worked at multiple companies, and eventually moved to Seattle to do design work for Arena.net. So working your way up DOES work, and I don’t have a college degree, but I have been gaming for 30+ years and I’m always willing to tackle whatever tasks come up.
The problem is that player customization at the level you’re describing isn’t possible with how our content pipeline is set up. It’s much less work to just make a polished map built specifically for something like death match even if we don’t support the game mode officially.
But something as: Holding objectives grants no points or you simple cannot hold an objective. Something like this is possible yes?
Yup, we’ve talked about having the ability to turn off capture points.

A lot of the things on the commendation vendor can also be gained from the personal reward chest that you get when you complete bounties, rushes, challenges, and puzzles. Happy hunting.
I was thinking about Custom Arenas recently and an idea popped in my head; could we be allowed to set the boundaries of a map? For instance, could we be allowed to say only the middle of Legacy of the Foefire is a combat zone and everyone gets spawned around that area?
I believe having the ability to set boundaries around an area allows for less “running away to heal up” scenarios in the inevitable deathmatch arenas we’re going to get from customs.
I think we’d make new maps before we would do something like that honestly.

They’d just Mist Form out of it.
Fine, fine: Singularity. I’ve seen Mist Form and I’ve seen RtL, neither move faster than light. Have them stuck in combat with Cthulhu for good measure so that they can’t waypoint, oh and overflow so that they can’t enter WvW.
Did I miss anything?

The open world Super Adventure Box content was only there for April 1. Tyria as a whole has now been returned to its former state and all the animals are back inside the Super Adventure Box in Rata Sum.
In addition, you may have noticed that Moto is no longer selling Continue Coins for 25 baubles. This is intended, and that price was only good on April 1. Moto referenced this in his in-game message.

Hm… sounds fun. Not sure how this could fit into our current plans, but I’ll think about it. I’m a HUGE fan of the original LoZ. It is THE game that made me realize what my career should be. I’m actually in the process of doing a personal remake of it with photographic art. I’ve been sculpting the creatures over the past several years as a hobby. You can check them out here:
Technically, some NPCs are “defeated” and you can “revive” them. If they’re dead, they’re dead.

Hi Medival – Your crash logs are showing some CRC errors toward the bottom and so I’d recommend running a Disk Check and follow-up with a repair of the client. Additionally I might also suggest trying to move your client to a different drive than the current one (if it’s on C try moving it to D).
Hi Gabriel – I would definitely post this issue in the Mac Subforum for a much quicker reply. If you’re still having this issue, I would like for you to delete both the local.dat and .plist files associated with your Guild Wars 2 instillation. You can do this by following the instructions below (apologies in advance for the wall-o-text):
Please follow the steps below to locate and delete the local.dat for Guild Wars 2.
1 Click on the “Finder” icon located in your dock or the desktop of your computer to make “Finder” the active program in the finder menu bar.
2 Hold down the “Option” key on your keyboard while clicking “Go” in the finder menu bar. A dropdown will appear.
3 While still holding down the “Option” key, click on “Library” in the “Go” dropdown.
4 Once in the Library folder click on Application Support > Guild Wars 2 > p_drive > User > App Data > Guild Wars 2.
5 Inside the Guild Wars 2 folder you should see a file called “Local.dat”. Move this file to the trash.
Once this is done please follow the instructions below to locate and delete the .plist file.
4 Once in the Library folder click on Preferences.
5 Inside the preferences folder you should see a file called “com.transgaming.guildwars2.plist”. Move this file to the trash.
Once both files are moved to the trash, please empty the trash and restart your computer.
After your computer has restarted please try to run Guild Wars 2 again.
Hi Goldhuman – Sorry for the late reply. Sometimes these threads can get lost. I would recommend running Msconfig to rule out any conflicting applications. Aside from this your drives and system specs look squeaky clean.
That being said, in order for us to look into this issue a little further, better assist you much more quickly and one on one, I’d highly recommend creating a support ticket if the Msconfig doesn’t resolve the issue for you.

Hi Bailey – I’m sorry to hear that the previous suggestions haven’t helped. At this point I think it would be best to create a support ticket so that we can be of further assistance with this issue one on one. This will allow us to better narrow down and pinpoint the cause of the black screen issue you’re experiencing. The thread below should give you some more info in regards to contacting support:
You can expect to hear back from us fairly quickly
