Mad King is certainly a fun fight, although built more for a story encounter than a true dungeon encounter. That of course could be tweaked by number balancing and a few skill adjustments.
The great and fun thing about the fight is the amount of immersion, and the fear mechanic with the scarecrows. The environment and the boss were built together, which really plays well into the fight. His teleporting between levels and inclusion of jump puzzle elements, his bouncing around the battlefield to keep things from getting too static, and his fear mechanic and the threat of it all work together really well.

He’s not hard enough for my tastes though, but he wasn’t meant to be. He’s a fun fight though, and all props to the team of folks who worked on him.

When you post in a thread, a white arrow appears at the bottom of the thread icon to the left of your thread title.

The default behavior for this forum takes you to the first unread post in a thread, which is usually the last page, unless you haven’t been following a thread very closely.

As Mexay has correctly stated, there is no way at the moment to change an account name. You can try to contact Customer Support but usually they only change names due to a security breach and/or offensive/copyright/inappropriate names.

I’m looking into some potential blocking issues with the events right now. If you think your world is having an issue your best bet is to:

1) Report it here. Make sure you tell me what world it was so I can see it and possibly get it fixed.
2) Try one of other maps
3) Trick or treat at a normal door with a few people. The odds that it will convert to a portal are are about 1 in 10. It stays open for 30 seconds.

Haunted Doors are the only way into the Mad King Labyrinth and Clock Tower. Normally they are one-way conduits, but ever since Act II started, someone of them have started becoming two-way doors. This anomaly is usually quite temporary and resolves itself in time.

But there are other forces at work this Halloween. Look for special holiday meta events in Queensdale, Kessex Hills, and Gendarren Fields. Once these are completed, a massive blast of spectral energy will cause all the doors in the zone will swing open and remain open for a long time. After about an hour, that energy will finally deplete, and the events will have to repeated again.

How long will the event be on? Please answer!

Hey folks,

Since it has been a few weeks since we gave an update on this, just wanted to quickly update where we stand. We recently hired an entire new team of people with one mission in mind: operation bot destruction.

They’ve been getting everything in place to accomplish our goal of making botting, hacking, spamming, and malicious behavior as non-existent as possible in Gw2. In the last few weeks, over 10,000 bot accounts were banned from the game alone. Another area of massive improvement has been in account security, where our two-factor authentication as well as your password changes have led to account thefts dropping to a tiny rate. A vast majority of account thieves use those accounts to run bots and/or perform RMT transactions, so our serious beefing up of account security has led to fewer bots, and most importantly fewer stolen accounts. That being said, we have massive improvements on the way in the next couple of weeks that help us detect, verify, and remove botters.

What we don’t want to do is have someone report you as botting, we ban the account, the bot appeals, and we have no data to prove they were botting on file so we have to give them the account back. Ensuring we have 100% clear data on bots that’s incredibly easy for our GM team to quickly verify, and when an appeal is submitted verify within seconds if the person was truly botting is our most important goal. We don’t want to ban people who were not botting, and we want to keep the people who are permanently locked out.

Bottom line: We’re doing ok, but we know we can and need to do much better on this front and are putting massive resources behind ensuring we have a permanent solution to this issue. You’ll see a dramatic improvement in this area in the next few weeks as our remaining detection and bot destruction tools and staff come online.

We’ll continue to keep updating on this front as we go forward, but rest assured we are aware of issues folks are raising and take them incredibly seriously. From FOV to bots, account restoration to more awesome stuff to do at level 80 we have teams working like mad on all of these fronts.

Actually if Ford needed bicycles in order to make mustangs they would either A- produce biycycles in a way to make a profit to keep producing bicycles until they could make mustangs … or B -Let some other fool go broke making bicycles at a loss while they just purchase the bicycles needed to make the mustangs. Option B is how the current TP functions.

Which is why until a true economy comes about , I will skip crafting, because its broken, and I will skip the business aspect of finished products on the TP, because its also broken, and I will sell only basic farmed mats and play the main part of the game.

So basically a large portion of the replayability of this game drops off and at some point I can always turn to another game …. Torchlight 2, Path of Exile, Aion, Borderlands 2 etc… and this game will be nothing more than a backup … like Diablo 3 is now. That game’s developers didn’t react to the inherently basic flaws that players brought up until the 1.05 patch only recently released. Too bad they lost 70 + percent of their player base first. Will that happen to GW2 ?… before you go fanboi on me … No it will not … not to that extent, the main game is still very very good.

I am disheartened by the total malfunction of the TP and the collateral damage to the crafting skills it has caused. I pick a crafting skill ONLY to have access to the bank more freely. If the Devs want to keep the TP global… then the only way to fix the pricing structure is to increase the basic mat drops by 50-75% and saturate the market with the mats to the point the selling price of those mats plummets and effectively sets the finished products value higher. I think that move however would have a negative impact in that the scaled cost of porting and repairs would be even harder to compensate for.

I really like how the assumption that controlling, CONTROLLING, the market for personal gain is so easily jumped to.If I were to make just 5c on every 1s invested in a completed product after tax, crafting would be worth it and I would have no complaint on the economy. Thats not anywhere close to market control. Find any solution, ANY SOLUTION, that achieves this, and I’m with you on it. Either way …. I guess you play your way … I play or not play my way.

What you’re arguing has nothing to do with the TP. It’s a simple matter of scarcity and usability. Arguing that the trading post being too large is a mistake because you can’t create imbalanced markets isn’t a good argument, and it would come at the cost of other players and a more stable economy.

We’re ready to beta test a change to our FOV (Field of View) that should provide a better experience for those with widescreen monitors. We want your feedback about the change to help us decide whether to deploy it to all players.

To help test, you’ll need to add a special command line to your GW2 client’s shortcut. Here’s how:

1) Create a shortcut to your GW2 client (right-click -> “Create Shortcut”)
2) Right-click the GW2 client shortcut
3) Click “Properties”
4) Locate text field labeled “Target.”
It should contain the file path of your shortcut, and will look something like this:C:\Games\Gw2\Gw2.exe
5) Type -testVerticalFov at the end of the Target line
Be sure to include a space between .exe and -test.
The line should look like this: C:\Games\Gw2\Gw2.exe -testVerticalFov
Please note that your Target line may or may not have quotation marks. If it does have quotation marks, this tag should go outside of them. So it will look like this:
“C:\Games\Gw2\Gw2.exe” -testVerticalFov
6) Once the command line has been added, click Apply -> OK.
7) That’s it! Jump in and play with this new setting, and post your feedback in the following thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/FOV-Field-of-View-Changes-Beta-Test-Feedback-Thread/first#post551648

If at any time you want to return to the old FOV, simply remove the –testVerticalFov from your target line and it’ll return to normal.

If you were using a bot, if you work for a Real-Money Trading company, or if you acquired the account using a fraudulent or stolen credit card, your account was terminated because you were in breach of the User Agreement and the Rules of Conduct and it will not be reinstated.

From what I can see in the notes on this ticket, the account your friend has listed does not exist. I’ve asked an agent to take a look. I’m working off of 121020-002767.

Edit: He also has been unable to prove that he owns the account, and given the things that have happened in the background, I would appraise this to be an “account ownership in dispute” issue. It’s best to await help from the senior agent to whom it is assigned, because he or she may be able to figure out who really owns the account and move forward from there.

The team is not willfully holding resolution; they are taking the time to make sure they give access to the account to the true owner. We all apologize for any delay, but it’s best to be careful and prudent in situations that involve ownership and access.

I appreciate the update on 121019-001684, Gaile. Here’s our dilemma: he submitted this ticket through the “ask a question” page without being signed in to a support account, since it was giving him an error when he tried creating one using the e-mail originally associated with his gw2 account. Unless we’re missing something, we can’t find a way to update the ticket now. Should we attempt to create a new ticket while signed into a new support account (using a new e-mail address completely unassociated with his guild wars account) or is there a better way to approach this?

I see that the team asked you for some account verification information on the 19th. If you cannot update the ticket simply by responding to the email that should have been auto-generated, then yes, created a new ticket but be sure to include the first ticket in your message to Support, so they can gather all the info together.
