Hmm, I can still level a character doing pretty much anything I want.
PvP has always been affected by who had the more powerful build. Perhaps post HoT meta has taken the OP’s preferred build from one of the top spots? I can understand it being frustrating to (perhaps) have been one of the OP few farming others and now to be the farmed.
I think he is saying that you HAVE to have a HoT build to even compete in pvp and when you use it you have to use it a certain way to actually help the team. How many use ele for anything other than healbot? That is just one example.
3 thieves on one team because of daily while 3 necros on the other due to daily
I would like to see daily AP only able to be gained from unranked arena so there aren’t skewed matches just for someone to get their match in for a day on a class they rarely play.
Also, if they are queuing with so many of the same class how hard is it for Anet to say..hey, lets put 2 on this team and 2 on that rather than all four squishies on one team?
Anybody seeing the forest creatures getting insta-killed in those matches? I know it takes about 1 second to spawn after timer runs down but then BOOM gone from mini map.
A class that has one of the highest hitting condi spikes and can spam both confusion and torment and has access to retaliation,is bound to be over performing.
No class or build should have access to both of these conditions to the extent that Mesmer does,and such a high hitting class/build that can also avoid damage through blocks,evades ,and invulnerability,certainly does not need retaliation to top all the op ness off.
Same goes for Warrior,and to be fair,all across the classes of the game it is apparent that class balance is not only non existent but intentionally absent.
It’s just a selection of over performing builds that were designed to be that way.
This is the epitome of class design that is bound to produce imbalances and power creep.
And a low PvP population,because after the gold rush for loot wears off,all you are left with is a pile of poo poo so badly designed that you now need a fundamental class and trait redesign in order to make it right.
GW2 PvP will never be balanced the way traits and trait lines are set up.
Traits that are absolutely normal for some builds,like retaliation on base Warrior or Mesmer,become contributors to a class’s op ness when combined with a elite spec.Our access to retaliation is 100% RNG. But I do agree that mesmer has ridiculous access to confusion and torment

What anet does is criticized multiple times a day in these very forums, what you’re suggesting is that every criticism is beyond discussion which is practically against the very concept of a forum
I believe that the concept of guilds was to band together towards a common goal and beating missions that would be otherwise impossible; and as time passes your guild grows and you can do more and more, therefore progressing and leveling up your guild.
Allowing 2-3 people to clear this content would make guild missions lose their meaning since everyone could just make his own guild and solo them whenever he pleases. It’s like asking raid content to be cleared by 1 person and still yield the same rewards, it’s counterintuitive.What I’m suggesting is that some players actually need to read the posts and take time to understand and then critically analyze what is being discussed before going into ‘everything is fine’ ‘I love Anet’ mode.

Seriously though, every weapon on my mesmer clips through the skirts that they are forced to wear (aside from the 2 pants currently available which, let’s be honest, are pretty awful).

Honestly it’s just a matter of wanting to be as cool as the PvE and PvP kids. I play WvW rather exclusively, and while other’s are hopping around LA with their diamond and legendary ranks for PvP, and others are sporting their level 5000000 in PvE, I’m lookin’ like a total newb with my PvP emerald, PvE level 54 character. But I’ve spent days on end in WvW. My rank may not be the most impressive, but it took a lot of work to get it. It would be so cool to get a title to display in normal game play. As of now, the only way for others to see your WvW rank, is if they are on an opposing server in WvW. That’s great and all, but It’d be fun to have some bragging rights. Amirite?

I use the primers for wvw but sometimes i if I am waiting on reset, crafting goods to open up storage space, standing in divinity’s reach, LA, pve etc… I tend to go afk and my primer (i think secretly) diminishes to nothing. If I could buy a wvw specific primer, that only ticks down in wvw that would fix the issue as well.
If you log off to character screen the timer freezes.

you can still take all the keeps fairly easily with 2 people…maybe 1? never tried. I know all towers are solo-able except (for me at least) that kitten necro/minion kitten .
I have anywhere from 8-14 queen jennah’s, super bee dogs, super _, and super __, (can’t remember their names), mini owl, mini ravens, mini hawk. That’s about 70 unusable minis that can’t be sold, can’t be forged….if you fix ’ol Jenny can you hit the button on all those other ones too? Thanks
I honestly think once you’re down, its over. The stealth res can be annoying, especially when you are winning outnumbered against another roaming crew.
But I could see duelers having an issue with this, maybe introduce duel mode, you lose but never get downed. Or make OS strictly duel mode I guess.

The quad server is what messed t4 up to begin with. It showed ANET’s utter inability to link servers properly (which gave the impression that putting servers together was a bad idea overall). It also gave a single server too much credit and will likely screw up the next linking because of that.
While glicko can take much of the blame….at the end of the day it was 100% ANET’s absolute laziness and fault that allowed such a bad move to persist while they should have been examining more data.

It was terrible prior the april changes, sure. But it was much more enjoyable after these changes that I felt a shame that they threw back that 4 year old BL map in the game.

I think because of the old saying about “first impressions are the most important” on top of watching lots of wvw server-mates leave because it was so awful at first on top of lots of HoT changes which were not so popular….buy yeah, i am just giving you a hard time. Huh. I had no idea this was a thing. I’ve noticed the lack of info in the combat log before. Doesn’t take long to realize the 2K amount of damage that is showing isn’t what killed a toon.

There are certain times when you have lost all your health for no “apparent” reason and if you did not see an animation nor anything that justified it in the combat log AND everything in the combat log you do remember seeing and accounting for…..then, there is a problem
Its hard to be specific about something you never saw and there is no record of but it still killed you.
While we believe this issue is important to both us and our player base, there are other things coming up the pipeline that require our foremost attention. Let’s circle back to this issue once we’ve solved the pressing matters of repair hammers and mobile cannons.

The walls not appearing correctly allowing some to walk through is a known bug that will be fixed in the next release.
Also, the Wildcreek and Rogue’s Quarry changes were deliberate.
Was it also deliberate to make the walls the most dangerous place to stand in wvw? Maybe a good way to get rid of excess siege blueprints?

i agree with you. there are some definite bugs in combat. with no lags, nothing unusual going on graphically I can be at 2/3 health one second, go in for an attack or back up to reset then …..boom, dead. No retal, no animation from the opponent, nothing that equates in the combat log to my health loss….just buggy

In this case, having a little high ground is beneficial over your opponent (unlike walls which actually put you at a disadvantage over your opponent)

add stuff you don’t care about or play
add gemstore items so you can match the stuff you don’t play
add a bug
fix the bug but add two more that are worse
ignore those two
rinse/repeat

It makes sense to me Bifficus. Plus, I hear that guy likes the desert bl’s…That alone puts him on the suspicious list.
There is, and was, likely an agenda early on to appear to appease the crowds with surveys and input. Most people answered the surveys under the impression that linkings/other options would be handled with care and accuracy (e.g. how often pairing changes occurred). Then, once things were skewed (especially evident in 2nd pairing) they let it sit and rot. This would give the indicator that player input was not beneficial to the overall health of the system (which ofc would be untrue mostly).
Now, they have a crowd willing to do anything for change and a scapegoat in that they did things based off the surveys. Thus, they can reduce cost (servers) and increase income (gems) until enough negative feedback starts to hurt reviews.
- Free transfers to the lowest ranked pairing of the week.
A free transfer to a bad server isn’t going to entice anyone to move. They need to offer a reward to active WvW players that make the switch. Offer some gems or something else of value to the players who help balance out the population. Make it worthwhile to switch.
How about both?

Sort of feel your pain. I’ve been running Berserker Warrior for a while now in zergs (was getting bored out of my skull on Rev). And while I don’t actually get kicked out of squads, I still have to put up with snide remarks such as, “I hope all you Warriors are running banners. You’ll need it to rez each other !”

Its just the nature of the beast that is WvW that some classes (mainly those with little support utility or aoe damage) are simply unwanted. And unfortunately Rangers are right at the bottom with thieves and Engineers, with Warriors (front line) being merely “tolerated” at best.
And yet we can dive into the boonshare-ball dish out more damage than half their blob, down 5 people and rotate out only losing 12 health to their ultimate survival package….yet the can rez their fallen because the group you are running with is too scared to push. Long live the rangers and warriors! Forgotten heroes
Why is nobody moving to Ebay or DH?…you want a challenge?…move here and help us against the blobbage.
Its actually kinda fun. We were literally under constant siege at garrison from 10:15pm-12:30a.m. reset night fighting off 2 sbi zergs on both north and south fronts with an sf zerg hitting the ne or nw walls and held them off the entire night until everyone went to bed. Ultimately we will lose the matchup but those moments are why I still play the game.
So, if you wanna make a difference, come to the forgotten servers of T4, one or two new guilds can literally make a huge impact.

Reading through the patch notes I noticed nothing had really changed (except for the ele’s) and thought to myself…wow, how long til the next one again?
the combat log does not seem so accurate as of lately. There has been two occasions in WvW roaming where I have been at either half health or slightly greater and I have been downed by some magical force. I go back and look at my log (all 1 million lines) and the last damage done prior to down-state was for maybe 2k…yet my health was around 10-12k. It makes no sense.
I know at one time things like life steal or leaching wasn’t accurately showing and I know lag has become a problem in WvW lately but the gross disproportion of what is showing does not match up.
The patch was great from a LS and fractal perspective.
I did not see much on the WvW end and balance seemed lacking in regards to vanilla vs specialization.
Are there any significant changes still on the very near horizon?
Also, is there any talk about giving laurel refunds back for the amulet changes? I have about 8-9 extra wvw infusions with no place to put them and have no real desire to put any enrichment infusions in a necklace.

My background is in neurology so I kinda get the analogies used with gambling and lottery and it all follows a principle of random reward postulated by Skinner. Any game/company/marketing device that has a prize or “drop rate” or RNG (as things are called here) employs this basic concept. However, the reason I posted on this thread was not due to a lack of understanding of what was being brought or how it is set up….simply a desire to improve the situation without affecting the goal of ANET to entice spending.
Thus, I found it somewhat stimulating to watch people clamor to produce reason why not to improve a situation that would globally change, thus also improving their own situation (i.e. they argue to keep a situation less ideal). It creates self-fulfilling prophecies (so to speak) of any chance to get someone to listen to any reasoning for altering a feature. I believe this is seen in all threads on these forums where a global desire for change gets hung up do to all minor details being argued and everything gets placed in the to-do-much-later pile while people hash it out amongst themselves.

Again, i totally know what you mean. I only play wvw so the rez orbs and teleports really have no value to me. But if they do to someone else, by me having stacks of them…it seems so wasteful. It would be nice to trade them to other players or trade them for other goods of equal or lesser value.What about instead of even having any of the items drop in the chests, they are all removed completely and replaced with a BLTC Coin that can be traded for any of the common items in the chest?
