who cares if you see a duel or gvg (kittening)
GO with my general rule. If its red…its dead.
I play for a server, i play to win, period.
People can play there mini-games somewhere else or along side of me.

1) also reading the forums just to see if any devs will have the guts to post
2) almost done building my hobbit house. 12 hours a day of work tuesday, sat, sunday for the last month and 1/2
3) watching ghost adventures re-runs
4) hoping netflix gets all the reading rainbow series uploaded
So, that’s John Corpening’s pseudonym.
3 years, they show absolutely zero love and zero support to this game mode. It deserves to die.
As much as I may not prefer the new BL for WvW purposes, someone put A LOT of love and effort into creating it. We should consider that while presenting our opinions on it.
True, true.
It “looks” nice, just does not work.
I made this suggestion in another thread but considers what you are saying and maybe would be a viable alternative if they choose to not go back to old wvw maps.
I wouldn’t mind keeping the desert map, just delete the entire south half of it.
One large keep or the upper 3 keeps to defend. That’s it. Nothing else.
No towers, no shrines, no pve “stuff”, just supply and keeps.
It would remind me of my favorite mmo “Archlord” where all players converge on one area to attack or defend inflame castle, twaqua, or the other one, forgot the name.
Whoever won each week was able to control taxes for the main cities as reward, thus affecting pve players… thus, a motivation to win each week. You win, you get paid and your pve brethren pay less fees at the trading post to buy/sale.
Since wvw players are forced to pve, lets force pve’rs to wvw to maintain the economy…considering that is the only reason i see to pve (loot).

Madness??!! THIS IS TYRIA!!!!!
/spit coming out in the shape of tiny horses
You can get it two other ways outside of dungeons or simply mix runes with virtually the same effect.
lol, i just made a similar thread in wvw section.
Its really messed up right now.
p.s. put something about HoT bug in the title so they actually care to read this
may he rest in peace…………….
yeah, didn’t they originally say it was gonna be around noon on saturday?
That wasn’t the case this week was it? Or have my days gotten jumbled?
lol, I feel your pain.
a lot of the wvw guilds in our server started feeling a selfish need to serve only themselves and forget the server as a whole.
Elitist pride would foolishly make them gvg guilds sent to “purposely” distract them while the rest of our home bl flipped and when (or if) they won they would think they were awesome, even though they lost everything everyone else worked to upgrade, lol.
I get what you are saying.
lol, honestly tho, if you took the time to build a 120 supply defensive piece of siege, it should be able to defend and be counted upon. It is up to the attackers to figure a way around it. This, however, is how it should have always been. How many times have you rained siege on a group that just sit in it with no concern at all?
calm down people, they were preparing a segment on how developers came up with graphics and animations about jungle creatures. Would you not dedicate most of your waking hours to that aspect as well, jeeez.
honestly, yeah, its sad how bad the communication is.
lol, i said communication, oops.
Its sad how obvious the ignoring is.
I find it too hard to be proud of any accomplishment in pve. It has about as much attraction as being really good at jumping puzzles.
Its basically like saying yayyy, i finally beat bald bull on mike tyson’s punch-out with the response of…yeah, so did everyone else once you figured out the timing, pleb.
I saw someone mention this on the Revenant Hammer exploit thread but wanted to mention it individually.
How many people seem to be obstructed by seemingly nothing lately?
I have also noticed that plants for harvesting seem to obstruct as well.
Ranged attacks on druid are sometimes only hitting 50% due to this.
crickets chirping………………………..
We should simply be able to use WvW points as a currency for multiple aspects of pve progression similar to pvp tracks. Make a wvw point merchant that accounts for points beyond maximizing all abilities (which is less than 1390 now). You can spend them similar to laurels or dungeon tokens for new sigils, recipes, Hero points (especially since I don’t wont to be stuck playing one class, i play six of 9 regularly and never will farm 1500 hp to use them…that simple), mastery points, infusions, accessories, etc…
If you are like me, you are probably asking yourself: “how long will I still play this game?”
Is it that you don’t like the game? no
Is it that you have mastered the game and there is nothing to do? no
Or is it that you truly love the game, love your preferred style of gameplay, and are just too frustrated to really put into words what’s actually wrong with it? maybe, that’s it.
I too feel this way. I sometimes like seeing the complaints on the forum because they tie into that inner frustration and set an alarm for a sleepy dev team to wake up…hopefully.
Thus, just provide 5 suggestions to make your wvw playing experience better. That is all you have to do. If a dev team actually cares to look, there will be a concise list of upcoming improvements they could apply.
1. More waypoints that can be earned on either side. E.g. If I hold the keep for 1 hour, get a waypoint a quarter of the way to bay (gonna use old names forever). 2 hours = half, etc.. Enemies that hold your lower towers could do the same, just 1.5 hours = 1/4
2. Remove gimmicky pve and weapon mechanisms. No lasers, no jumping puzzles called floating platforms, etc
3. +5 supply
4. more rewards for playing more rewards for earned points.
5. HP options need to be added by a factor of 5x-10x
He basically said there is no rhyme or reason for determining what to do on the new maps. Then he said there was little incentive for wanting to figure it out.
duhhhhh
I think you summed it up kamikaze.
I think a lot of the negativity, mine included, comes from the fact that many people loved or still kinda love the game and want to see it last many years. Unfortunately, it becomes evident over time, though, that the game is predictably problem laden.
I think some of the most vocal opponents to HoT have many valid reasons to be vocal and the inability to “play how you want” shines very intenesly after the new patch. Prior to this it was general lack of “equality” being given to the 3 main game divisions: pve, wvw, and pvp. Now it is completely gated by pve to progress equally in the 3.
Well I get that. But do you really think they intended to do that? I can’t see them purposely doing so for a game they love. So I don’t see why people have to treat the xpac as if it’s trash.
I agree. I do not think it is intentional, just lack of “what ifs” during planning.
The area created, itself, is just fine and not bad, just not my type of game. It reminds me of jumping puzzles or jumping being a part of fractals. Both of those I can avoid but still play other aspects of the game with full potential.
This I cannot avoid if I want to play with full potential.
That is all

People had a lot of false expectations, it is true that 400 hero points is way too much, but some were expecting to have the new class trait line 15 mins after playing HoT.
Unreal expectations tend to have bad results.
I think people that played a lot and put in a lot of effort prior to patch felt their previous efforts should have been worth something more….that is all
Reward now for time spent simply does not add up. And the time spent is not that enjoyable because many are simply go back to playing other game modes.

Sorry OP, but this is the point that the “caring” rabid community they brag so much about tells you not to let the door hit you. Or worse.
eh its cool, if it doesnt get fixed no biggy, watching a BDO alpha test on my second screen and its looking like its got options. yes lots of grinding but the combat looks awesome and the immersion with crafting and trading looks intense
I just don’t even know how to respond to this. You say you like this other game, and how it has lots of grinding, but then you do not want to even play to get your elite specs. The amount of kitten out of you is intense.
I think you miss the point that we are not getting an entirely new profession to start from level one. We are taking EXISTING professions that we have ALREADY leveled up to max level and now you have to grind 400 hp EACH to get one more weapon and a single line of traits from.
That is silly to make such a comparison.
People aren’t asking for things on a silver platter, just be consistent with time=progress

I think he means a new weapon entirely. Not just use of weapons that already existed and were used by other professions.

More legitimate ways to earn HP’s than pve map grinding

Simple fix
Allow PvP and WvW acquired achievements (including tomes of knowledge) unlock the elite specialization.
For example, if you have already unlocked all wvw skills and have 500 points left over then those should convert into hero points.
Or, if you have _ rank in pvp, convert that into hero points.
They say that by allowing ranks, etc. to convert into hp, it will simply allow too many people to “unlock” chars too quickly, yet map completion (entirely pve related) gave a couple of hundred hp’s to pve’ers did it not?
I will not pve to play the game portions I like. Simply not worth it on so many chars.
0.5/10.0
I didn’t want to give it a 0 out of 10 simply because I am sure there was something I liked about it.
Sure can’t remember what that was though
awful maps, awful expansion
truly truly disappointed
Yeah, you are right. I shouldn’t just complain and not give anything constructive in return. I just see so much of what I did not like in the game (e.g. jumping puzzles, pve, inconvenient travel) being added to the only part of the game I play (wvw).
I just didn’t want to be greatly disappointed like everyone was predicting…but I was.

couldn’t agree more
I played for a while to defend a keep, take back a shrine and flip a camp. The map was absolutely awful in every way. I am sure you are right that it will get better the more you familiarize yourself with it. I just got too frustrated and don’t know if I want to familiarize myself with it. Specializations will take about 4 years to achieve so I think I will just not bother with those either
OP is correct in every way.
Awful way to put specializations behind such junk content. Could not stand the new maps. WvW maps have way way too much wasted space and gimmicky mechanics. Just turned the game off and don’t know if I can bring myself to turn it back on. So disappointed in every way imaginable.
simple answer
Ehmry Bay
good fun, great community (do what you want with no judgement)
roam, zerg, havoc….all is viable and useful here
I recommend Darkhaven or Ehmry Bay; They are both stable servers and have Medium populations, so the transfer is cheap. Dragonbrand is growing atm, so I wouldn’t go there until they stabilize.
I like eBay they gave us good figjhts.
Yeah, it is fun on ebay. We have both roaming and zerging. We will always fight you no matter how outnumbered we are or even if it is just a foolish 1v3 we will jump in. “if it is red, it is dead” is my motto……right before i die. But, it is fun and it is with a nice community
I play on ebay (ehmry ofc) and primarily just do roaming. There will be blobs (especially reset night) but wherever they aren’t… the roamers generally are. Nice for 1v1 3v3 5v5 etc…
Come join a friendly community and growing server.
If you are talking about the black lion chest minis you can probably just destroy them. I had accumulated quite a few and noticed that some of the super minis could be mystic forged while many could not. As for the avian minis (i think ravens, hawks, and snow owl’s) none were forgable. I sent in a ticket wondering if it was just a bug and asked what are we suppose to do with purchased items that are duplicates and served no purpose…they told me to put them in the mystic forge. I had to remind the person answering the ticket that I sent in the ticket explaining they could NOT be forged and was curious why some could and could not.
Next ticket read,
we are sorry if we misinformed you or you were lead to believe otherwise but the minis you refer too cannot be forged and it was a BUG that couldn’t be fixed, thus you could add to wardrobe or destroy.
However, if it is Balthazar mini it can be forged with other materials for obsidian shards
I believe it is bugged as of the last patch or so.
I also bought another type of locked armor from the cultural smith and did not get the indicator for the achievement. All other skins in the past, when unlocked, did show the achievement.
It seems quite plausible. My condi ranger does far more damage with cannon and certain runes/trait vs my power ranger or other power based classes. I always thought that was odd since the cannon was an inanimate object but never thought about it after I was done fighting back an attack
