Can’t you, pro players, protest ? Like both teams of each match refusing to fight ?
You could still have a winner by running internal matches to determine the team that will cap a point on stream. That would require trust, while there’s money to win, so I don’t expect much…
But I expect absolutely nothing from Anet for the next 2 months, and that’s just infuriating.
Since the Reaper’s preview, they nerfed it 3 times already, and we have yet to test it.
When in doubt, nerf necro.
Signet of Undeath had a shorter cast time, we were rez bots, also running epidemic. Then brain cells connected and necro got focused to death, for 3 years. They still increased Undeath cast time, just in case some necro could survive and attempt anything useful.
They started with Well of Blood, followed by Consume Conditions, and now’s the turn of Signet of Vampirism. Next target: Blood Fiend. They can do it!
Blighter’s boon was finally giving us life force at the start of a match, and a compensation for not receiving any party heals in shroud. It’s now all gone. Worse: it now forces us to take Spite if we want to benefit from a GM trait.
If BB isn’t reworked, I’m asking for 20-25% LF right on start. It has been long overdue.
There’s no balance, only power creep. No shaving, no toning down, no balls to take unpopular measures (nerf everything), no will to do a decent job, nor the brain to do it, no knowledge as they don’t even know their own game, no interest either as people already bought HoT, nothing really.
Balance team are a bunch of clowns, hurting the game to the full extent of their abilities. /clap
Yeah I don’t get it either: nothing has been done to burning damage which is insane.
Also, ele combo fields and finishers should be shaved somehow. Too many aoe might stacks, too many aoe heal.
For mesmers, the mantra nerf wasn’t chirurgical. Instead, they should rework Confounding Suggestions to not work if the daze come from a skill used while stealthed. Fix the bug that keep a mesmer stealthed a few seconds after s/he starts doing damage. Reduce PU to 66% instead of 100% increase.
Necro has never been meta in 3 years bare 2 weeks of Dhuumfire/Terror. After which we got nerfed into oblivion, patch after patch after patch.
Terror is still nerfed because of Dhuumfire that is now dealing 1 stack of 3 sec burning if we manage to hit with our slowest attack in Shroud that requires LF in a build that can’t generate enough (condi), just to achieve less damage than scepter auto attack… Hahahaha hahah aha ha hah ahahahah !! ! !! !!! Dies
The “No Escape!” shout idea gave me a trait idea.
We drain life, so what about draining speed too ?
When you apply chill, gain super speed.

I started necro 3 years ago for the advertised attrition gameplay. Now I have more faith in Shiro to do that than necro…
At least some of our new skills try to scale. That’s a first. See you in 3 years.
So the result is the same: we can’t reactively blind an ability when we see it being cast: we blindly blind.
What are you talking about. Overall this patch adds even more power creep. Apparently, when you are a complete failure, you work for ANET on balance.
Meaning: tooltip bug fix in 2 months!
That’s my optimistic side.

If they keep doing kitten, I hope we will all riot together. Too much apathy nowadays. I love the necro gameplay despite all the weaknesses, lack of designer support and poor balance.
Necro is the easiest profession to lock down. No block, no invulnerability, no stability, no stealth, no reflect, no escape. No class should experience the frustration of being disabled from 100% to 0% under focus fire. Let’s make a deal.
Both macro and micro are interesting, just like SC2 matches.
Visually I would love to see an option for displaying profession icons on nameplates.
PvP is all about advertisement. Bahahalance patchs have only one goal: to make pro league entertaining to watch, certainly not entertaining to play. In a pay to play model, anet only needs to sell the game to win. It doesn’t matter if victims shortly notice this game is full of rubbish.
Companies these days go for short term benefits. It may not seem wise at first but if you look closer to the gaming industry, the offer is more and more overwhelming. Average players don’t invest much time into a game before switching to another.
I may be wrong somewhere, but that’s what it looks like to me.
I would call that an incentive to give us the trade off we wanted: passive LF regen when below (and up to) 25% at the cost of a reduced health pool.
But who cares, soon we will all get Blighter’s Boon to start games with 10-20%. I already miss it. =[
Bunker mesmers need a 5th panic button to cover their soldier/sentinel geared kitten ? Because they already used 4, reseted them, used them all again, double dodged and now they’re stuck with nothing for 6 sec ?
The good changes they make? Almost all due to feedback.
At this point, I think the few good changes matched feedbacks out of pure luck… It’s like Robert Gee waving a giant axe blindfolded in a forest of suggestions, eventually striking some here and there.
Tomorrow I won’t put much effort to make the reaper work. If after a day I get wrecked the same, I will invest the following days on Revenant instead…
I firmly believe that necro is balanced around golems. Golems have yet to sidestep our slow hitting attacks or interrupt our long cast times, so we’re “in a good spot”.
Apparently you’re not supposed to take that damage. If you listen to the great folks we have here, you have to learn to dodge. Don’t forget to dodge the smashing and the drop too, then double dodge UA to only take 20%. I’m afraid that you also need to dodge the elite. Ok now double dodge UA again…
What they are trying to say is: play s/d daredevil with double energy sigils or go home.
Or, you could get a hint at those never ending zerker/marauder duels, like Revenant vs. Mesmer: Unrelenting Assault vs. Blurred Frenzy. And when they can’t attack and dodge at the same time, they just dodge, go distortion, teleport away, block… oh wait the rev got hit! Oh but it heals him!
Player A : “the game is too bursty.”
Player B : “the game is too tanky.”
Guess what? They are both right!
Moa needs the same buffs as foefire lords. Insane power creep buffed every profession but moa, that’s just unfair to that ever growing population. If you follow the evolution, at some point there will be more moa than mesmers.
To all the moas of the world: RIOT!!
EDIT: sorry I’m too emotional on this matter to be constructive ._.
Diamond is like the end of the road for most players, a point at which they can finally:
- ditch that boring meta build they played for so many hours
- relax and play for fun, like in a real game
Only pip junkies continue, and you know pip junkies, they are the worst.
You shouldn’t expect anything besides a worse experience post patch. How much worse is for you to decide, but before you do, I want to remind you that being pessimistic is the best way to be positively surprised.
Not a word about the insane power creep.
Most players fail to recognize that, so imagine a company that doesn’t even play its own game!
Future looks grim.
We already have records of rampage vs lich. In my opinion, Reaper vs Zerker might be close to that, imbalance wise. :>
Also the amount of stability Zerker has far surpasses Reaper’s. As for crowd control, we have more soft CC, all easily cleansed, but less hard CC unless you go signets and corrupt stab ad nauseam.
In the long run, I believe a shoutbow zerker with perma fire fields and crazy sustain will forces you to step away first.

I fully support it. I liked that map, a lot. I wish I could play it again in unranked.
I have yet to see a post from anet acknowledging that this game suffers from power creep. So this balance patch will probably just be a shift of power, certainly not a significant tone down.
Still waiting for a balance patch since june 2015. Instead, the game keeps getting more and more imbalanced. But what are the alternatives ? There’s MOBA everywhere: 647 characters with 3 skills ? BnS that forces PvE to have decent PvP, and that’s only 1v1 and 3v3, as other game modes are pay 2 win and requires non stop gear grind. Crowfall is coming in 12-18 months.
I want to murder the guys in charge of balance at anet. They are the worst people ever. And I just learned they have QA for PvP. I guess she gets banged daily by the higher ups to be of any value to the company.
Oh they also have community managers, but they never come here, NEVER.
just stop…STOP!!!
Hot weather ? Wave your fan !
An heavy one at that, making you sweat a lot, so wave faster and see who wins !

To determine if something is OP, just compare it to the old d/d ele that ruled supreme for over 5 months (even after the slight nerf there was still 2 ele in most teams).
Based on that I can say that everything (but maybe berserker) is OP.
Amount of power creep is insane…
I wish that what OP said about PvP, replay value being much higher than any PvE content, was a factor to assign dev time. We could then see more emphasis on PvP dev time such as (split) class balance, (re)design, and new content/QoL, like the bare minimum quality of life of having a free for all area in the mists for everyone to fight each other while waiting in queue.
Otherwise, I like that this patch introduced more nerfs than buffs: it’s a first in probably 2 years! But it’s not enough, keep them coming, other things are in deep need of a nerf. But, please, rebalance some of the harshest ones, like the gutted Deathly Chill, after you already gutted Blighter’s Boon, leaving no fallback. I even saw some reaper going back to base necro (which is horrendous).
Just halving chill damage and reducing chill uptime would have been a good start. Also, the stability nerf (8/20 to 5/25) hurts like hell and is totally unwarranted: necro needs stability, and this one is limited to shroud as it stops pulsing outside of it. Isn’t that a big enough limitation ?
Anyway, I hope to see another patch quickly after the feedback of this week.
Bring back Raid of the Capricorn, and remove all other maps.
Oh, and don’t think we forgot about Stronghold.
They clearly balance the necromancer through the eyes of other professions… They will never get a clue, and the necro community is obviously biased, so…
I like it (especially when I play necro wells): it’s gorgeous and it’s a welcome change from conquest. 4v4 or 3v3 would probably be more suited.
A hotjoin version of this map should be playable while waiting in queue. In fact, add this map and capricorn to hotjoin and let us access hotjoin while waiting, that would be perfect.
By the way, hotjoin could be split in 2+ brackets: below rank 20 for practice, and above for entertainment.

Everyone knows it but the devs.
Mods, don’t work too hard, it’s bad for health. Take example from balance team.
I’d rather have EA moderate this game… For real.
You’re so close to irreversible insanity. I would suggest you to take a break from the game: end your vacations and go back to slavery, I mean work. You will feel better after a while. Trust me, I’ve been there (necro for 3 years).
I firmly think that everything should be nerfed, at various degrees. The power creep is getting out of control. Too many hard CCs, cleanses, active defenses, everything really, at various degrees.
In my opinion, a rapid succession of balance passes is required to sanitize the mess it has become.
Rant post:
What they did with Staff 4 is despicable. Before the change we were able to transfer condi from teammates in the area as well, but they decided to KILL one of the very few support skills we had, without explanation, as usual.
Also, the reduction from 3 bleeds to 2 on Staff 2 is just laughable, as if we were too good at condi bombing, when in fact every other profession were already doing it better (not sure about guardians though).
Staff is “good” only when you compare it to trash weapons like scepter and axe. And if there wasn’t a trait that 90% of people take (because SR is almost always required), it would be mediocre.
ANet should really put HoT development on hold and take the time to nerf ele (butcher it, thanks) or, by the time they release HoT, the player base will be so low, they will have a hard time selling enough copies. (Unfortunately, I know I’m wrong, because vast majority of remaining players don’t PvP, it’s so sad…)
Not only lack of balance: the mists are now a prison restraining you from fun while you wait in queue. For most people, that’s unacceptable.
You seem passionate about the game. Don’t be. You will only be left with frustration and anger. ANet doesn’t care (they don’t even have a CM to monitor these forums, so nothing we can say here will ever reach them, ever) and they won’t do anything but spouting big lies (they seem to do OK in that department: I believe they failed in politics before ending at ANet).
They don’t have enough players. That’s why they can’t split solo queue and team queue, which alienates solo players, shrinking the PvP population even more.
The balance, matchmaker, pip system, HotM being a prison, doesn’t help much either.
A lot needs to be done, especially to fight power creep, and they are not willing to do anything for the next 2 months. I don’t expect much from that future balance patch either.
Time to find a game, something you can enjoy, not a hate-inducing software causing pain and suffering.
Goodbye Necro
Don’t give up just yet! He stated this was not the same client we are going to get.
What ? You mean it could get worse ?
I want to play the most annoying build ever, so that even if they know they can’t lose against me, it would be such a living hell for them that they are discouraged to pick a fight.
Any recommendations ? :p
Let us be a pingpong ball for a little longer. At least we can enjoy the scenery while being full CC’ed to death. Thank you !
I am quitting necro. I have more faith in Shiro (and Mallyx) to fill the attrition playstyle.
- Baseline 2% LF degeneration.
- Foot in the Grave is now a master trait and is bundled with the 15% reduced CD.
- Vital persistance is now a grandmaster trait that removes the LF requirement to use Shroud: if there’s no LF, health degenerate by 2% every second.
The problem with GW2 is that the balance is too extreme. Burst build can busrt too fast (often from stealth) and bunker can stay alive for too long.
The result? Newbies are constantly dying to burst builds and they can’t take down the bunker builds either. To them, it’s a frustrating experience, and that’s why you will never see an end to QQ about the extreme builds (DH that can burst you in 2s, or Druid that refuse to die 1v2)
As long as GW2 doesn’t close the gap between extreme bunker and extreme burst, we will continue to hear people QQ about it. They just couldn’t find the right words to explain their frustration, and it looks like they are QQing about random build.
Read more about how to make GW2 more fun:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/PvP-needs-to-be-fun-to-play-watch/first
I agree too.
June’s trait revamp introduced a massive power creep but nothing has been toned down. Elite spec introduced another massive power creep and close to nothing has been toned down.
After the d/d ele “nerf” (4 months after they started to rule everything and everyone), they were still a top pick (almost all team had 2). Now, the build hasn’t changed but isn’t deemed OP anymore, relative to the current Elite specs. But don’t be fooled, it is still way too strong, it’s just that almost everything else (bare warrior) is even more OP.
So yeah, (almost) everything is OP. The nerf hammer has gathered enough rust and dust, it’s time to swing it hard and relentlessly.
no………………………………………………………….
Don’t see why not, d/d ele is allowed and it’s more OP than every elite spec.
I can’t agree more! There’s currently no balance, so why would ESL care ?
