Guild Wars 2

It hasn’t happened in the last week, but I have had it black out a couple of times and the music, when it plays, will get caught in the blackout and sound like a horrifying grunting noise of whatever few notes were playing at the time it froze. I usually have to reboot my computer manually. Which I dislike.

A few guildies of mine report the same.

My computer is still fairly new, so I doubt it’s a technical problem on my end. Especially if so many other are having the same problem.

You can just read about Season 1. I heard from my guildies it wasn’t all too amazing. Even if you are hardcore into the story (like me). Not worth the pain and effort to run through it yourself.

Season 2, however, is fairly good. Especially the second half. Things really pick up and mostly is what matters when it comes to HoT.

I’m having this problem now, even after the “fix”?
Except now, my client won’t even make it to the character selection screen. It is claiming there’s a network error (Error 5) despite me being able to do everything else on the internet just fine.

Living Story is not part of the base game, thus it is not included.

Wrong. It essentially is part of the base game as there are no specific lines saying it’s not. Also, for most of us, living world was happening the same time the “base game” was and to us, is no different from one another. Also, the “base game” is impacted by the living world- now new players get to see a ruined Lion’s Arch despite having no involvement in the events of the destruction (Season 1) while everyone else did- for free.

I agree with the OP and many others on here. It is ridiculous that people who were promised a “pay once for game content” must pay more because they had lives or something happened that disabled them from logging in longer than they expected. All of you and your “Well, you should’ve done this or that” have no idea what our lives are like and the reason behind why we couldn’t log on. Some of us are newcomers to the game and missed Season 1 and most of Season 2 and are being penalized for that as now he have to pay for it. It immediately puts us in a inferior place that makes us feel like we can’t trust ArenaNet or this community for honestly not being understanding about the issue.

No one was told from the beginning that once you buy the game, you must log on every week or be forced to pay up the $$.

I missed Season 1 because it was happening far too fast and I could only log on a few times a week, and I spent that time on my original personal story and fighting Zhaitan. Season 2 happened when I started my first year of grad school and no way did I have time for any games let alone find out that it was REQUIRED to log on in order to still have access to something I already paid for (unlike what ArenaNet promised from day one).

I rarely rant, but this hiccup and the snarky comments from those belittling our experiences has hit a nerve.

Sorry if this is harsh, but there is much frustration on our end.

Have you ever thought that maybe many of us could not “Just. Log. In.” as if it were that simple? If there are so many threads about this, then obviously this is an issue that needs to be addressed and not laughed or scorned at.

If the game material was as free to get by simply logging in, then why on Earth’s name would it be a problem to just leave it free and open to play for those who come a few months later? People have lives- and as hard as we may, cannot make GW2 the center of our attention.

I am a player since Guild War 2’s launch date and I paid full price for this magnificent game. However, I have been dreadfully busy with grad school and have not had the time to play.
Finally finding the time to login and play while anticipating all the catching up I’d get to do, my heart sank when I realized I completely missed the events of Season 1 and will never be able to play them ever (I also did not realize that those were crucial and part of the storyline after killing Zhaitan as the game did not make that clear). However, relieved that Season 2 was still accessible, I was also disappointed that I have to pay to play. Isn’t this the one thing ArenaNet said it would not do to those who bought their game?

I feel it is unfair that, because I have real life responsibilities like school, work and family, now I must pay more than my peers and guildies for not “logging in 24/7” despite having paid the same amount as they did from the beginning.

Forcing me to pay for material that everyone else didn’t have to pay for feels like a personal monthly payment to play the game- which really sucks and pushes me away.

Is there anyone I can talk with to negotiate or discuss this with?

I love GW2 but the clipping is a nightmare. Especially on Charr characters. I hope ANet focuses their attention to this issue eventually.

I avoid shields like the plague because of this. Even if the shield provides good skills.

I would love it as long as it was kept short. I wouldn’t read a wall of text about the third Bear Shrine I’ve came across in my adventures. But it would be nice to understand why it’s a PoI. Because sometimes I fail to see why, other than the scenery may be nice but in that case why not make it a vista?

Likely with an expansion. By expansion I mean like Cantha or Elona. (How it was with GW1) and that will be a while. There’s a chance we could get another one with (assumptions) Isle of Janthir, Crystal Desert, Tengu expansion or Maguuma expansion…but not likely.

It’ll be at least a year before we we can start talking more professions. And I’m ok with that. I would prefer another heavy class to balance it to 3-3-3 though when it comes.

Alright, so, I am confused with the whole armor/weapon jibjab in PvP/WvW.

I am mostly a PvE’er and have not played hardly any PvP since the BETA’s. But Snowball Mayhem has changed that. (hehe) How does it work? Do you get new sets of armor as you go from being a ‘Rabbit" to “Deer” (I think that’s the next title) from an NPC? Or do you need a certain amount of Glory before a NPC gives it to you or do you have to buy it? Make it? Or do you simply have to make the armor yourself in PvE via crafting it or using the Mystic Forge? You can’t just make any set, right? You have to have gotten a certain amount of glory? points? w/e.

Wow, that was a lot of questions. Forgive my ignorance. Thanks for taking the time to read and help answer.

I remember having that mission and all my money was left intact. But then again I don’t recall checking directly after finishing it. It was too long ago, but I’m sure I would of noticed.

I am bumping this, because I was thinking the same thing and it needs to happen!

To be honest, when I first came to these forums when it opened I was excited when I saw the sylvari woman silhouette by our account login thinking that it would be replaced by our main character in-game. So far nothing has been done with it. Darn.

It can be easily done and I know of other games that do it with their forums (MapleStory for example) and even fan forums have access to the files and can link your in-game main characters avatar (face and shoulders) to the forum accounts. Some even go as far as including their characters lvl, class, race and exp points.

I would love this like no other, because to be frank, these forums need more to it other than blank whiteness under our names. Personality and customization have always been a biggie for me.

Another bonus is that you wouldn’t have to monitor and moderate the avatars people upload because everyone has their character and only their character there.

It’s a win-win in my book.

ArenaNet. Thank you so much. I have felt the Christmas spirit that I have not felt in years. All because of you and GW2. I just love it! I have not had so much fun in a game for a long time. Toypocalypse is so much fun and “Gift Stopper” in Snowball Mayhem is just hilarious! The puzzle was also a blast when I finally conquered it.

Yes I agree! I had a blast! I can’t believe there are people complaining about it. People don’t know how to simply sit down and relax anymore.

I also really enjoyed the “Gift Stopper” achievement in Snowball Mayhem. omg, it was hilarious.

That does blow. I particularly enjoy rezzing others, I never noticed it doesn’t count towards contribution in DE’s. I usually fight here and there when I can too though. I also feel this should be looked at.

You’re there on your time, you’re participating, you’re helping, you’re keeping others up and fighting… It is only fair this is included as well.

I am hoping so very much and dearly that the UI could have a place dedicated to telling it’s users what song is currently playing as you wander and explore Tyria. I have heard many beautiful songs and I need to know what they are, so I can find them later on and record where certain songs are and put them in the GW2 Wiki as well as know what songs to buy and add to my iPod.

Nothing more frustrating than hearing gorgeous music and wanting to know what it is and where you can find it and not being able to do so because of the lacking info.

(I don’t mean to make this sound like a suggestion, as it really is and isn’t at the same time.)

Not big on the Lore either, but Humans have been beat back through some centuries I think, and only have 1 city left.

Humans currently have two major cities:

Divinity’s Reach, which we all know is the capital of the last human kingdom. Kryta.
and
Ebonhawke, which is a city built on Charr lands, making strong connections from GW2 to GW1. It is pretty much all humanity has left on the conquered human kingdom of Ascalon.

Fate has not been kind to Humanity. I love the intense will and strength the humans have in this game. They are stubborn and will not falter depsite what the world throws at them. Their story is the saddest and most alive to me because of it.

Hello, I have stumbled upon quite an inconvenience. I recently just joined a guild with a few good friends of mine. Joyfully and cheerfully, after receiving my invitation, I went to go represent the guild so I could chat and be a full-time member of my new-found guild. However after clicking it, nothing happened. ._. The dash across my green square remained. Unfazed, I clicked again. Still nothing. I clicked 5x more. Now fazed, I went to my friends for help, they did not know what to say.

So, I went to my alts and tried there. It worked. All 4 of my alts are in the guild, representing it…. except my main is left in the bitter chasm of neglectance. Why??

Annnd I just realized I posted this in the wrong section. -_- Too many tabs up…

There is concept art with horses in it. So it is known that there is a possibility of horses. They are probably wild and in regions that are not yet open to us… shrug I’m not sure. But I love horses and would enjoy seeing them.

Here’s the concept piece. Upon further research, I find that the arches are Human, likely from Ascalon, which we know is in ruins, now Charr territory. Maybe the Charr did eat them. ;(

While some NPCs briefly mention the waypoints, I don’t believe they’re ever talked about anywhere else in the lore (such as in the novels, etc). Personally, I just treat them as a gameplay convenience mechanic, similar to how we’re able to carry several full suits of armor, a dozen weapons, several hundred lumps of ore, wood, hides and various random monster parts, not to mention thousands of copper coins, in our backpacks.

As much as I love to roleplay, there are some things where you just have to nod and say “it’s magic”, then quickly move on. ;-)

I loved Mhenlo. ;D I must find this book! So far though, I have not heard of anything. I have a few lore fanatics in my guild (Oh! I love them :p) and they are equally as curious as you are.

The Mursaat are not from the Ring of Fire. They are supposedly from the Isles of Janthir, which someone mentioned, is officially labeled on our world maps. Also, there is a server named after that place. So it can be a possilbe candidate for further expanions. If so, I will be super excited. I have always wanted to go there.

Nobody knows what the Isles look like or if there are Mursaat cities there, although unlikely as I believe they were almost wiped out.

It would be rather pricey I would think and time consuming to give us voice options. Saying we had 3 to choose from for each race and gender, that’ll be 150 different people. o_O

I would love this dearly. I have enough beautiful songs from TSFH, AudioMachine, Mark Petrie, X-Ray Dog and many many many others (over 500 songs on my iPod, worth $1400) that I could put a good 2-3 in each zone and I would be a happy camper.

Not to mentions I would be leaving in all of the original GW2 music from Jeremy Soule. (GW1 music will be going. Heard enough of those songs. :p)

Please feel free to include any info you have. I would love to edit all of this into the GW2 Wiki when it is done.

I decided, with my bought copy of the Guild Wars 2 Soundtrack (4 discs) to list every song and where you can find them in-game and when they play. I joined Sorrow’s Furnace on launch. I decided to change out when I realized that Spanish was everywhere and learned it was the unofficial Spanish server, they also do not do well in WvW.

From there I joined Isle of Janthir, which is a high populated server barely, no spanish and has a good community with tons of Aussies. Not too shabby in WvW, but not very good either… It just didn’t feel right to me though. Not quite the amount of people in it that I wanted. So I left and joined Dragonbrand. I have come to decide this is the perfect server for me. Perfect amount of people, full-english and good community helping each other out with pwning WvW. I am so glad ArenaNet let us have free transfers so we could settle in the right server.

All three are US servers.

I have a question that is of great importance to me.

The music that plays in my games is one of the major features that determines my ability to connect and immerse myself into the world.

I have come across many fantastic and gorgeous music while watching GW2 videos on YouTube. I know by fact that they are GW2 songs by Jeremy Soule as I heard them play in more than one video and they scream Jeremy Soule. However, I have not heard them play once in my own gaming experience. I have gone to the same exact locations that I saw in the vids to hopefully come across them. To no avail.

Instead I get the same 6 songs playing over and over and over again, never mixing in the new songs. Half of them are songs from Guild Wars 1, which I admit I have grown tired of. What is going on?

I would give you a list of the songs I want to hear, but ArenaNet has never given a detailed list of the soundtrack on their website, so I never know what to search for and where to go in-game to find these beautiful songs. Which I find slightly irritating. As in the future I won’t know what songs to keep and get rid of in the music files found in GW2 which I have not messed around with or changed the music folder in the GW2 files at all yet.

Is something wrong?

He never knew his parents and had no real family other than his loyal friend Petra and her father Andrew. Many people consider themselves fortunate to meet Arthfaèl. He found Kieran in a back-alley getting mobbed by Bandits and aided him. He became boyfriends with my alt Kieran Mycaneau after many personal experiences and moments shared with each other.

She has a crush on Kieran despite his orientation, creating complicated feelings within her.

Blue eyed and redheaded. Joined Arthfaèl, Kieran and Emyrist after being found by them while she was unconsious, being downed by an Elite monster. She is determined to prove to them that she is not a weakling. Upon proving this, she has gotten to know the group and has befriended them insomuch that she goes with them on their adventures everywhere. With this new friendship with the others, she has found unexpected help from them in times of trial in her own life. Something she is not used to.

Yellow eyed with black fur and golden striped. Cyon is by far the most ferocious member of the group. He takes chances the others are unwilling to take. Although he is the cause of many quarrels, the others know that he would never betray them and will protect their backs with his life, as they would for him. He can surprise the group with random jokes from time to time. He met the other four in the Black Citadel. When asked by the others why he joined them, he refuses to give direct answers and gets irritated.
