WvW Gliding: Using Siege Disabler's

Why isn’t this a thing? There’s virtually nothing else you can do while gliding, so why can’t you at least be able to pull out a siege disable , glide over it and disable it? Gliding right now is just another useless addition to WvW.

Deathly chill just needs a nerf back to where it was then necros will be fine. Heck I would support a buff to deathly chill that isn’t just a straight dps buff.

The fact of the matter is, with DC as it currently is, in order to maximize dps a necro doesn’t need to even think. You can use all your shouts at basically the same time and then go into shroud and spam abilities. It is incredibly punishing to opponents without requiring skill on the necros part.

If anet doesn’t want to nerf deathly chill, then the condi stack limit needs to be looked at at least on players. The reason you see so many condi necros atm is a combination of the fact deathly chill is overtuned and that there isn’t any dps loss for just putting more necros into your group. They all end up increasing your damage output with no drop off.

It is absolutely insane that this is even a conversation. Thankfully someone working at Anet seems to agree.

If this is an actual issue, then why stop there. Why not be outraged that we have to press any buttons to play this game at all. Why can’t I just sit back, drink mountain dew, and eat cheetos all while this game plays itself and gives me the best loot in the game after a few moments of auto play. This is absurd and demand satisfaction!

“Ingrid living” or Valcorie. This was the name of man, a dad who died recently of cancer and his son talked about it on reddit since he was a hyge fun of the game . There was alot of devs there to give him their condolences.

Idk i wanted to suggest this, to the team in lw for ep 6 or se 4. Would it be dissrespectful or rather hard to put his character in game somewhere? As an npc or a normal npc named after his character. As means of respect i suppose. Idk i have seen this happen alot with various ppl in other mmos, mostly in wow. I always thought it was something really ncie to do and respectable. So i thought id suggest it as an easter egg or as 1 of the meta achievements of the map.

My condolences to his family, i hope the game gave him plenty of good memories.

OK define “roaming”?

If it is flipping camps, curtailing supply, scouting etc then I respect that. However “Roaming” in this day and age is all about ganking and nothing more.

I stand by my statement.

Roaming, to be technical in GW2, is what happens when you are either solo running around, or with 3 or less people. Roaming isn’t defined by what you do but by how many people you do it with giggidy.

Requiring info regarding blocking

Kaltyn of Torbins Deep.2946

Hi all,

I’m having an issue with a someone harassing me (both irl and in-game) and was wondering what the blocking behaviour is in GW2?
(snip)

Since they are doing this in real life as well as in game, you need to take a few additional steps to protect yourself.
1. You need to notify law enforcement NOW. INSIST that a report be made – them acting on the report isn’t necessary, but your filing the report IS.
2. You need to notify support NOW.
3. You need off-line copies of your documentation of the harassment. Whether that is screenshots, printed copies of e-mails, etc. You need that documentation, and you need it somewhere off-line and NOT on your computer. I’d suggest a USB drive that you place in your sock drawer, or a bank safety deposit box. The reason for off-line is that accounts can be hacked, computers can be stolen, and computers can also be seized by law-enforcement for discovery and you could be out of luck if you don’t have a copy elsewhere.

Don’t wait, this isn’t about getting someone in trouble, this IS about protecting yourself and creating a paper trail that can be used as evidence. In my experience, harasser’s will tend to be in one of two categories: a) the oblivious idiot that is just “joking” around and will actually stop if you slap them hard enough with a clue-by-four, or b) the dangerous kind that will only escalate.

Unfortunately, you have to smack them with that clue-by-four before you can determine which category they fit into, so you have to start setting up your protection with the worst-case scenario in mind from the get go.

I’ve been playing WvW almost exclusively (had to PvE to get elite and durability runes) since Seasons 1. I’ve been in fight guilds, GvG guilds and PPT guilds. Now, I pretty much run guildless because of the intra-guild drama that inevitably happens.

It pains me to hear all this “elite guild” stuff. That’s not what GW2 is about nor what makes WvW so blasted great. I’ve been in guilds where we would run tagless, trying to shake the pugs. Bottom line is it doesn’t work (pugs still follow) nor does it really affect things in the long run. Sure maybe we lost a fight or two that we would have won otherwise, but no big deal.

We then tried running half our raid time closed and tagless (announcing it to the map…but also saying we’ll be opening it up in an hour). That worked OK – people would mostly respect it. Then we started to always run tagged and invite the pugs in. Our driver would teach builds, positions, rotations, etc. Over time, the overall quality in pugs got better and we had built in recruiting tool.

GW2 is about inclusion, not exclusion. WvW isn’t closed ended like PvP or raids..it’s open to everyone. Maybe if the “get gud” guilds would spend some of their time teaching, they might get some good fights and some good recruits to boot!

Again anet doesnt care about wvw players.
Thats why they can’t sell me their expansions..

Can we get legenday armor tracks at least, i dont care if you make it really grinding like complete 50 tracks to get a piece or make it like 3,000 wvw level to be able to unlock it i dont even care if its 50 times harder to get it from wvw.
I still prefer doing 50 more grinding in wvw than doing pve.

EASY Commander GUI Improvments

in WvW

Cerby.1069

Focus of the thread is to highlight solutions to some of the difficulties commanders may have trying to manage their players.

This thread assumes the usage is for all types of command, whether they be voip/text/ or anything in between/combination of those. For the most part though we will assume that all the players involved use all types of communication available when they command.

1. The map: We need to be able to put markers directly on the map screens. Currently we have dedicated 4 markers we can use on this map screen (attack/defend/rally/wp), but those are very arbitrary and this list needs to be expanded. The 1-8 object and 1-8 terrain markers can only be applied ingame, yet they showup on the map. There should be a way to put these symbols directly on the map from the map screen….this would allow you to highlight positions and objectives more easily to your squad without you having to physically “go” to those locations first.

2. Markers: Correct me if I’m wrong (I was) but you are unable to delete the markers once they are placed without deleting ALLLL of the markers. The only way around this is to go to your map and manually click markers to disable them. This process is clumsy/distracting though when you are fighting ingame. Additionally any object markers placed on targets now “disappear” if the commander moves too far away from them….this needs to be fixed. The get around is to appoint lieutenants and have them put squad markers on stuff that they are near….but even they need to stay near them for them to stay. Honestly we could also use ‘more’ markers, but I realize if this seems unreasonable. A final suggestion is to make some of the markers less arbitrary. For example the first green marker could be a more easily read “rally here” type of indicator rather than some random symbol among 7 other random symbols.

3. Chalkboard: You ever notice how you can draw white lines on your minimap? You ever notice how the tag is able to draw lines that “everyone” can see? I propose a markup overlay for the map that commanders can utilize should they choose. Basically, enable a chalkboard overlay on the map of everyone in the squad. Commanders/squadmembers may disable this overlap in their map at anytime. And the commander/lieutenants can draw attack plans all over the map so people have a physical copy of the plan in question, and anyone joining the squad can immediately know what is going on. One of the limits of teamspeak is the lack of physical plans, everything is just words that are easily forgotten, misheard, or not heard at all. Physical plans are key to commanding large groups of people.

4. Tag colour/symbol roles: Was another thread on this. But the idea is that tag colour specifies to the role the tag wants to play on the maps rather than some arbitrarily
chosen colour to identify its person. A followup to this is the ability to choose slightly different tag symbols so players can more easily identify role based on shape of tag rather than colour.

5. Tagging down: presently you can either hand the tag to some1 else, or you have to leave the squad in order to get rid of it. THis isn’t cool at all. I get the intent is to keep a tag up at all times…but this isn’t the right way to go about it. We shouldn’t have to leave the squad and rejoin just to tag down. This also is at odds with tag culture which is deserving of its own thread but I’ll leave it out atm (devs limits tag functionality so they function in a specific way, but how they are ‘actually’ utilized by the playerbase is very different and at odds with the intended usage).

6. CLosed/Tagless squads: First off, closed squads perpetuate a feeling of exclusion harder than any invisible squad will. Whoever is working on this mode needs to seriously re-examine ‘how’ they are trying to foster inclusion to all players on the map….cause its having the opposite effect. Heck I can make an entire thread of ways to make them game “actually” inclusive to all players and it could be shipped out to the community in a day’s time rather than 2 years. Closed squads shouldn’t exist at all imo. They should be tagless if they are going to be closed…OR they should be a special symbol squad like its listed in (4).

…… Continued below There are 6 more suggestions in the list (ttl of 12) You have to wait 30 minutes though since flood control only lets me post once every 30 minutes regardless of any number of posts I make and char limit is 5k.

Economics of Mystic Coin & Hardened Leather

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ensign.2189

Ensign.2189

That…no, that’s not how asset pricing works.

There isn’t any interest or rent producing capital in the game. Expectations about the price trajectories of various assets are priced into their market prices.

I.E., if it was certain Mystic Coins were going to appreciate in the future, people would start buying them now at higher prices – until the price is high enough that people didn’t see any more upside to holding coins over holding gold anymore.

I would argue that you’re cycles of falling risk premiums (as A.Net does nothing to address the fundamentals), followed by rising risk premiums (as prices spike and the risk of intervention rises).

Overall, though, no, there’s no guarantee that there are assets that will outperform gold in the long run. There’s no guarantee of inflation in the long run, and there have been plenty of short run periods of deflation.

Think of it as having to wait 2 months to craft something of basic necessity. Its not ascended (or legendary) gear, its exotic. It is heavily implied by Anet that exotic is normal (or “default”) lvl 80 gear, all HoT openworld content was balanced for it.

But full lvl80 exotic gear is not a necessity at all, and that is the point. I have been playing GW2 for 8 months now and leveled my crafting disciplines from the beginning. At no point I had issues with leather prices as a new/leveling player.

I played Orr in greens/rares and maybe a lvl72 or 78 exotic here and there and started out in HoT maps in mixed and matched lvl80 rares and exotics. It works. Crafting or buying a full set of exotics was my first “long-term” goal as a new player. So I did not see a problem with it being more difficult to get.

In the end it took me 4-6 weeks after reaching lvl80 to craft my first set (light vipers armor and two vipers weapons), without grinding or farming of any kind. Just by playing the game and using the TP.

I agree with those who say that older players are more bothered by the high prices than newer players. Now that I am accustomed to full exotics and even ascended, I get more impatient to gear alts. It is purely psychological in my case.^^

Proof? Why should new players craft to get exotic gear when they can buy the named exotic armors? Don’t forget crafting itself costs a lot, and I would never recommend new players to craft.

Even when I was new running around Cursed Shore in green, I avoided crafting like the plague due the complexity and potential to waste money and materials. If we weren’t forced to craft with ascended gear, I would never do it at all.

I never tell new players to craft, because I feel they are wasting their time. And I’ve helped people plan how to get up. You know, I actually help newer players that you claim to want to help, so I know this is nonsense. .

I think this is the crux of the issue, though—should crafting be only an obligation for high level gear, not a reasonable (or even enjoyable) part of the game itself? Should new players be effectively barred from this part of the MMO experience, due to the cost? Is it good for the game that one major aspect of it is something that players generally avoid like the plague?

I don’t really have an answer to what role crafting should play in the game, but I’d say that the advice that you give new players to stay away from it and the fact that experienced players hate it enough to never want to do it except when they have to—well, these things are indicative that something is out of whack, that this is an aspect of the game that has a negative effect on players, and the leather price situation is the most egregious offender.

mmorpg’s raison d’être is an offer of long term goals and the possibility of developing a character that will last for years, that is the genre. Crafting is part of this, you are offered long term crafting goals that you can aim for, aspire to and progress towards. The only thing out of whack is players who don’t understand this and want everything they can see when they think they are entitled to it, they demand it! Ultimately they try to bite their own noses of to spite they face – for short term exclusionary gain (pixels and numbers).

I’ve said this before, but if you think or want more inventory space, then that’s exactly what you need.

I get sick and tired of some that say just manage your inventory better. Sure I could get rid of all kinds of stuff and have plenty of room. That’s not the point.

There are literally 100’s of things that may not be necessary to carry around, but on the other hand, can be fun if not advantageous to have.

Why is everyone trying to discuss this with this guy? The simple answer is. If you want to join a commanders squad. Then you have to abide by his/her rules. If one of the rules is you must be at least listening on TS. Then that is the rules of that commander who is leading that squad. You don’t like them fine. Then make your own squad with your own rules.

I mean come on, you can not even sound more of a self entitled prick then you are right now OP. Like really man. Why now just tell ANet that, they should force other players to play with you because it is your demand. And if those players refuse to play with you then ANet should just perma ban their accounts, for not playing with you.

5,4,3 is a terrible scoring mechanic and it’s done nothing but create walls that shouldn’t be there. Example Tier 1 and Tier 2. Tarnished Coast has been gaining Glicko rating because of 5,4,3 although TC has been losing players and guilds steadily because of Tier 1 and their inability to produce the coverage of that Tier.

The difference between 5,4,3 and 3,2,1 is the amount of points awarded that gets plugged into the glicko.

Furthermore the scoring gives way to coverage imbalance. Thus, you can’t keep tinkering with the score because it’s directly effecting the health of our communities without fixing balance first.

The imbalance is obvious and it will continue to worsen. The rating every week will continue to float TC and because of this, TC will lose all its players because they are dealing with impossible odds.

This relink, Arena Net gave both JQ and TC 2 guest links, which does nothing but increase the odds of them potentially rising to Tier 1 by giving them a few disorganized pug communities while allowing the servers to get bandwagon to from their guest servers.

In fact JQ and TCs links don’t provide them coverage to deal with Tier 1 and doesn’t change their scenario.

Why is Tier 1 being avoided like the plague? Why does Tier 1 inevitably kill off server coverage and communities?

Scoring at large doesn’t matter for winning. There is no competitive nature to see who is the victor. Winning in Guild Wars 2 is pointless. So why focus on the scoring when all it does it enable imbalance. Why consistently fiddle with the scoring and not be bothered with the balancing of servers when the only reason the servers care about scoring at large is because it decides the fate of their server and their tier.

To fix this WvW you need to start with the problems that have a cascading effect on other dynamics of the game first. You can’t fix scoring if there is hardly a competition. You can’t fix or “play test” scoring if no one is generally caring about it. Fixing and adjusting scoring, when there is little reason to care beyond that of your servers tier makes way for manipulation especially when the objective is not to rise in the Tiers but to avoid a said tier because of the imbalance presented in it.

The irony of your post is super sweet.

I have played this game mode as long as it has been available and have seen lots of player population shifts for various reasons, several times what can be described as a mass player exodus, but nothing, nothing came even remotely close to getting rid of players in WVW and getting them to quit the game entirely and completely, then the so called alliance artificially rolling YB through the tiers.

Not even HOT exodus, not stab changes, not skill balance, nothing got more people to quit this game then that. In fact, all the other stuff combined together, is maybe equal to this one single thing that got players to quit, uninstall and never return.

And can you please state to us who is the architect of that player exodus and is largely responsible for that ?

I wish you guys would get locked onto TC and there were no transfers, permamently, so that you may get a taste of your own medicine if things continue on their current path, because you aren’t there yet.

Don’t waste hardened leather for exotic craft. Better farm some gold and buy exotics (for zerk stats Zhed’s/Nika’s/Devona’s depending on armor type) from trading post. You can buy a full set for like 15-20 gold. Alternatively you can grind Verdant Brink a bit and buy an exotic set for airship parts (must have Itzel mastery to access the vendor).
Exotic craft is dead, save that hardened leather for insignias to craft ascended armor.

Hello!
I am new to Guild Wars 2 and the horrendous FPS sadness me.

My config looks like this:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
CPU: AMD FX™-8320 Eight-Core Processor (8 CPUS), -3.5GHz
GPU: Radeon™ RX 460 Graphics
RAM: 16GB
DirecetX-version: DirectX 11
Monitor: 2560×1080 (32 bit) (60 Hz)

Notes:
- All my drivers are up-to-date
- I have sat on 60 FPS on every other game I have played throughout the years.
- My CPU & GPU load when I’m playing GW2 are about 30%.
- I have unparked all cores.

Now I’m going to be straight with you I have same cpu as you something not right with your core speeds why is it dropping to 13xxMHz on core 1 & 2? the cpu 3500mhz default and should in no way drop below 3400mhz under turbo should be hitting 3900-4000mhz even idle shouldn’t be dropping that low looks like your mobo not configured right. or your cpu voltage maybe to low possible just a bad cpu cause them numbers are indeed not a good sign.

Now with that said use manual affinity (from task manager ctrl+alt+delete) (i use radeon pro for this) right click gw2.exe select affinity and un check cores 1 3 5 7 just let it use cores 0 2 4 6 should gain good amount of fps with that bout 10-15 bout what I improved i also gained about 20 fps on gw2 by using frame limiter and not using vsync

we have same setup some what you have better gpu higher screen res
My setup is win 7 ultimate 64bit
cpu 8320 but i dropped turbo oc’ed it to run 4GHz always so not really oced just running wide open constantly if it drops goes to 3980-4039 MHz bout stable as I could work it.
my video sapphire radeon R7 265 1920×1080 (frame limit at 60 no vsync) (the sleeper buffed up 7850 version anyone comes in here to troll me saying it isnt can go look it up)
My ram also 16gb@1866MHz(933)

In divinity reach high pop. at max settings i hit round 30-35 fps avg bout 30

Normally i don’t use max settings. medium usually and high textures

anyways hope this info helps you out some you really need get your cores stable that be my biggest recommendation its shouldn’t be dropping that low means something isnt set right in motherboard settings even under extreme power management shouldnt be dropping that low try pulling back screen res a notch. You gfx card bout 39% better then mine from what I read. Might help you a little but still thinking its related to those low mhz drops if its doing that while you are gaming you going to lose fps hardcore

1. Max Settings I don’t use AA either way really don’t need it with high screen res or I don’t anyways

2. What i keep it at shaders on medium i know not in screen shot I personally like medium cause I think armor looks better ambient occlusion is more an emulated type I find it wasteful it doesn’t really help gfx any in my opinion eye adaption i can mimic that with my monitor depth blur I don’t care for doesn’t impact fps that ive noticed either way. Rest some of it personal preference some things gives me nice fps gain both in numbers and in stability in metas

3. How everything is running highs i had game full screen for bout 5 mins current value what it is with everything minimized and lows mix of both Showed cpu-z and gpu-z just for confirmation on we bout same setup just remember my cpu is always 4ghz by turning turbo off and using a multiplayer of 20 rest is stock/ set on auto in motherboard I use c6 mode and apm mode(power saving modes) helps with temps as my room stays like 75-80 degrees

Hey all, I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread where we can post bugs that we have encountered in WvW. Instead of just having a bunch of random threads that get buried after a few days. Hopefully this way it would be easier to monitor the issues for the devs, and for us to know if other people are experiencing the same issues.

Please do not post exploits as it is against forum rules…
Please report those here: exploits@arena.net

Remember to also use the in-game tool for reporting issues.

Here are a few issues I have been having:

*Using a waypoint on a map can sometimes port you to a different map.

*False bug queue, it shows a queue on a map, when in fact there is none.

*People having the same position (#) in queue, I have noticed this often during reset nights.

*Being on a map for certain amount of time, causes a random bug where many things do not render graphically like weapons, and sometimes your own character which can go completely invisible if using a tonic. This also causes the long loading screen when using a waypoint on a map. Another issue that can occur related to this, is that the color of objectives do not update properly to accurately reflect which server actually owns it. Completely restarting the game client seems to be the only way to fix it.

Please add any issues that you are having, Thanks.

I say what needs to be said, get used to it.

No, it is NOT a fact that it’s a bad design as you try to claim. The event system certainly is robust enough as the maps have always been tuned for a certain number of players before a new overflow map is created and has been since day 1. If people spread out there would simply be no issue.

And no, people won’t have that issue. I’ve been in full maps before where people were spread out and got events just fine.

And people may think they by asking in map chat it’s going faster but the opposite is true. By asking in map chat rather than just looking for events and going to where the mob is, they are in fact likely slowing themselves down. Just because it’s typical behavior doesn’t mean it’s the right behavior.

I’m unsure what region you play in, or at what time you do the daily events task. I expect that there are peak times and valley times in the two server clusters and that the typical experience may vary depending on when one tries to do the event task.

In NA, in the 3-4 hours after the daily reset, my experience has been that I can wander much of the map without finding any events — or I can map to the chat calls and live with the behavior that ensues as players attack empty spawn points and kill the mobs as they appear, before they get to move. Usually I make the third choice and go to WvW.

You’re free to think that deliberately creating a system that is going to result in players grossly outnumbering event scaling is fine. I don’t. Players have zerged content in GW2 since long before the current daily iteration. ANet had to know about that behavior. Design that is fine only if players behave atypically does not strike me as good design.

There’s something I don’t get. If it’s your preference to wander around finding events by yourself, and maybe seeing another player or two, you could do that better if players spread out more. Why would you care if the events task was regional?
