GW2 doesn’t even support voice chat though, probably because you don’t need to communicate to win.
Give us virtual girlfriend please ArenaNet
I’m not sure why this wasn’t in the game in the first place
Try piken sqaure server lyra
I feel that because golems are so OP, theres less point in defending, especially if you don’t have many players in the map, at night for example.
Played a couple hours today since its the last day, we managed to take back overlook and the surrounding towers with a small zerg of about 20, then our numbers decreased to around 10 on the commander, at which point both millers and dzag attacked our area from both sides, 20 at anza, 20 at ogres, so it was 10 vs 40 and we had no upgrades, this is while dzag still had durios and QL etc, not saying that there was an alliance, its just that they prefer to attack us before each other.
In GW1 there was many ways to show everybody just how ‘pro’ you were, including :
- having elite armor
- having a good minipet e.g. kuunavang
- having a perfect gold weapon ( even if it was a normal skin like butterfly sword )
- having a rare green weapon e.g. dragos flatbow, ragos flame staff
- having a good title e.g. drunkard, champion of the kurzicks
- flashing a pheonix animation in somebodys face
- bring dowkittenaishen spear onto somebody
- black dye
- obsidian armor
- having a really powerful build that you didn’t copy from the internet
- costume hats that you can wear in battle e.g. witches hat, furrocious ears.
- being able to win in dungeons
In GW2 once you have got your dungeon or karma armor and weapons, nothing sets you apart from everybody else, I don’t see people in ascalon catacombs armor with world completion and think ‘wow, you don’t see many of them, that must have been hard to achieve’, anybody that has world completion I admire their patience, going around every map doing all the hearts, when all you do is press F on things and throw water into cows faces.
The only thing that seems to get admiration in this game is legendaries, yet they are all grind and not a lot of skill, you can even get them just playing around with the trading post or buying them with credit card ( for a ridiculous amount of money, which just shows how much effort they take ) In GW1 amassing a large amount of gold was not easy, you normally had to do the most difficult things to get the most gold and in general the skill level of the game was higher than here anyway. There are alternatives to legendary weapons which cost quite a lot, but they don’t attract as much attention, so I feel you are better off just going for legendary rather than those.
So I guess the suggestion part of this is, make better looking armor that is available from doing fractals at high levels, and remove legendaries from the game.
you misunderstand, they have always been keeping healing out of the game since the start, ( you might be confused after seeing guardian and ele lol ) they are probably just saying they will continue to do this.
Its funny, they choose to avoid dedicated roles for the sake of making grouping easier, but then they make grouping hard by not including a LFG tool and splitting the game up into servers ( many of which are not even highly populated ), nor did they designate a certain place for the formation of dungeon groups, it just became lions arch unofficially.

Heartseeker and deathblossom for example, some players don’t like to see gory things all the time, in the same way that some people don’t like to see blood, it also doesn’t match with my cute character. Currently the only way to replace the icons is to use texmod ( now called umod ) but this causes performance issues, especially when in a large battle.
Therefore I would like some way of having custom skill icons built into the game,
or redesign the icons ( some players won’t like that though ).
Well its a much better idea than southsun cove, theres nothing interesting in southsun cover, just fighting karkas 1 by 1 forever, and they aren’t even that interesting to fight.
It probably won’t be much of a difference, on the lowest settings it will be comparable to how it is now, you will just see 50 names coming towards you rather than nothing.
I think the reason they made this ascended gear was an incentive for people to play the new content, since its more challenging than just buying the jewellery, there needs to be some reason why you would go there, If they ever introduce ascended armor though that will completely ruin the normal dungeons.
So if the loot is bad, once people get their ascended gear they will stop playing fractals ?
Completely agree with what clay just said, also the OP mentioned weapon variety, I actually expected there to be hundreds of unique weapons for each class, with a different set of skills on each and appearance, stats etc.
The game is relatively well made, but the overall design is not great, dungeons don’t serve the purpose they are supposed to, its just an easy way for people to get exotics, but there is no other purpose to them beyond that, and there is no challenge either. GW1 did it the right way, you didn’t even touch ‘elite missions’ until you already had a strong character, and you didn’t spam them for a week then not go there again like we do here.
Early on I could tell the open world ‘exploration’ was not really exciting, you just go from one point to the next following the minimap and clicking on things that won’t give you anything interesting or even add to the story that much.
I think its too late to change the design of the game though. I think fractals is a step in the right direction, but I suspect it takes a long time to get most of the gear, plus you don’t get the good rewards until you have done it lots of times on the lower difficulties.
Well its mostly 14 year old boys playing male norn warrior in this game, they want to see the female chars looking promiscuous and they don’t want to see male characters dressed up in whatever way girls will find attractive.
Everything should be available with Gold or the currencies should be able to convert into each other like it was in GW1
thats called guild wars 1
I used to have the same issue as Makovorn, I played a short norn just because the camera was higher up so you could see things better ( though actually you can’t see your own character very well ), though after a while I really wanted a human so I had to get used to the camera mode for that, but now I don’t really want to go back to using my norn because I will start to be bothered by the camera differences again.
Could we not just have some toggle to switch between camera modes for each race so I can then set the norn to use the human camera or other people can use the norn camera for humans ? or even a scaler for the camera height etc ( with the current settings for each race marked on the scale ? )
Yay I can fire trebuches at the enemy team properly now.
Unless of course they still cull after the enemy is slightly farther than cannon range >.<

I’ve given up on playing this match, we had no hope of winning since the start, MS seems to go easy on Dzag , for example we had 1 tower in EB, blue had all of their section of the map ( 4 towers 1 keep ) , but MS was using 30 people to stop us from having mendons, while leaving all of the blue stuff untouched.
We can’t even hold a fully upgraded overlook at around midday, we can’t even hold fully upgraded bay in our own border at peak time, it was 15 of us vs 40 of them on sunday evening.
This week made me realize how unbalanced WvWvW is, and how we probably do the same to other lower tier servers nearly every week.

Yeah but it would be mobile so it is harder to destroy, it can retreat if the situation looks bad, it also would have a lot more hp than a normal arrow cart.
Also make it so they can’t be used inside towers, keeps and castles to defend the walls and lord room entrances otherwise it would be overpowered.
I also think golems should not be able to teleport through portals, they are not players.

Yeah that is an issue, also on my thief using sword, you get three skills, one is auto attack, not mega exciting, the 2nd is a gap closer / escape skill, the third is an evasive attack, so none of them are really mega exciting, I want some kind of attack that does mega flurry of hits, more like pistol whip, but if I use pistol I can’t go invisible or cripple them so I can’t trigger my stealth bonus attack so easily. If I use dagger I get the gap closer, but it also does lots of damage, so that is kind of more cool. On ele you have your teleport utility skill ( which also heals you ), staff has long range and daggers have their ride the lightning awesome charge skill, so theres not much issue there, if I started using scepter though I might find theres no way for me to get swiftness, which might be a problem in WvWvW.
GW1 wasn’t completely bound a ‘trinity’ system, you had tanks that are capable of healing themselves, or healers that were putting out a lot of damage etc.
The issue with this system, whatever it is, is that its not involved enough, you usually don’t have to think about what your doing, they concentrated on making sure every class is useful, which meant you couldn’t have situations which need a specific approach to be successful, so therefore the enemies capabilities have to be quite simple, they also wanted to make the game more accessible I think, so it would have mass appeal, so the difficulty level is relatively low, you don’t see mass amounts of enemies attacking you at once, which might actually be fun, although I think some classes would be able to deal with that better than others.
There’s not a long they can do about it, its simply that the computer cannot cope with the amount of player models and spell effects, one way to fix it would be to adjust the quality of the effects in real time, but it might actually be caused by the CPU operations not the graphics card, so basically they can’t do much about it you just have to have a really really good computer, my pc should be good but it still struggles sometimes.
I would actually suggest that they be changed to offensive siege functionality, but without the ability to break down gates, they could fire rockets, which act like arrow carts, maybe a bit stronger though, and a slightly smaller area, and also flamethrowers, which can be used to take out groups of players from roughly scepter range, if the golem pilot is skilled enough, the weakness of this golem would be if players attack it from behind, as it should turn quite slowly so the players can easily stay behind it if they can get close.
Too many items in this game really, I suppose that is why we have 20 slot bags but they just cost too much for the typical player, they want us to buy bank expansion really.
The characters mostly look quite american to me, particularly the hairstyles, all the NPCs look like hollywood actresses or something. It was more international in GW1 I think. I want more natural looking hairstyles aswell.
Golems are more viable on the medium population servers where you don’t have 5 people sitting in every keep all of the time, on our server we often have to commit everybody to attacking otherwise we can’t win, that often means they sneak into our base while we are away fighting. Golems just seem to be OP, they often win even if you have a fully upgraded base, and you spot them early and have enough people to defend.
Its a good idea though it will probably end up making everybody stronger than they would otherwise be, since the elite skills are not that great generally, but give me an extra cantrip on elementalist and I will basically be unkillable.
Try making 10 superior arrow carts in the mystic forge, fun.
Oh but they did ‘improve’ Ascalon Catacombs, you now get knocked down every 5 seconds and the stalker enemies evade 90% of your spells.
I think another issue is people aren’t going to wait around in those maps just waiting for a boss to turn up, that’s why people are predicting and communicating when they will appear ( although part of that is the guesting ‘exploit’ ). People don’t really have a reason to be in those maps, If there were dragons in Orr or WvWvW where people actually tend to to hang out, it would be better. World bosses are also too pathetic, normal champions that you occasionally find always provide more of a challenge ( but less loot, possibly even the same loot as you get from a normal creature ).
Samurai ! they can only use katana or dual sword but they can change ‘stances’ like elementalist attunements, and they have fast recharging skills and high movement capability, and they can reflect projectiles by using skills at the right timing.
Elementalist is the best class in this respect, I can imagine with some classes you are just standing around auto attacking because everything is on cooldown, for whats supposed to be a ‘fast paced’ combat system, its often quite relaxed to the point where you are playing on ‘auto pilot’.
The main impression I get about this game is its designed so whatever you do, you will win, whatever class and build you use, you will win, providing you dodge the insta-kill nonsense at the right time. There isn’t really much need to adapt. I get the point about individuality, its not really obvious to other players that you have ’ 5% extra fire damage vs burning foes ’ or whatever. This game actually reduces individuality compared to GW1 since there’s not much choice of armor, most people just wear CoF dungeon armor or Orr karma or exotic crafted or something, sure you could get T3 cultural but its not even exotic so you end up paying twice as much THEN you have to micro-transact for fine transmute stones, I actually usually transmute into low level appearance armor since it looks better, but then there’s no prestige to my armor, nobody recognizes like ‘cool you have that’.
Same with legendary weapons, everybody warrior is probably just going to end up with Twilight, where is the individuality in that ?
I actually play mostly Elementalist at the moment because you get twice as many skills and nearly all of your weapon sets are useful in different ways, your not just restricted to a combination of 2 weapons ( 10 skills ) which is are the most efficient, and you can actually do some interesting things with the traits, but you do still end up with general roles like ‘healer’ that you can just use in dungeons and fractals, but THEN when you want to go and farm orr, you don’t want to be going with a healing setup, so you have to go through the re-trait process, which then encourages you to use one build that works everything ( which is what I have at the moment ), rather then optimizing for various situations, this does tend to make the game less interesting.
Alternatively we could just add Risen zergs into WvWvW xD and actually have proper loot. they should only come out AT NIGHT, and have a tendency to attack the winning team.
It was annoying at the start of the game and I was complaining about it all the time, but you kind of get used to it, it wasn’t such a problem in GW1 for some reason, in fact you needed to be able to break aggro to be able to survive sometimes.
You thought crafting was going to be useful ?
The amount of bots around a few monthes back was ridiculous, Anet sorted it out, most of the bot zergs dissapeared and Anet claimed victory, BUT there are still bots around in small numbers, but because people think the bots are gone, not many people notice them anymore so they don’t get reported as much.
Yeah I was dissapointed with the way the dynamic events turned out, I thought they would be something we would be focusing on more at the end of the game, kind of like a dungeon that plays out differently every time. The dragon events are sort of like that but there is no strategy or organization involved at all, its just turn up, auto attack, win.
Seems like a bad idea since the black lion chests are worth 1 copper, somebody will buy a million of them, open them all and have a ridiculous amount of treasure
They also made it so if you want to change your stats, you need to get a whole new set of armor, different ‘builds’ in this game typically require a combination of stats, traits and skills, and because it takes a lot of effort to get multiple armor sets, you are restricted in your experimentation.
Trying binding autorun to Q if you want to type while moving
How about always putting everybody that guests onto an overflow or even an instance instead of the ‘real map’ then making sure their friends can go join them in same overflow ? fixing cross server chest exploits might be useful too.
Or they can go back in time and design GW2 servers like GW1 was so we don’t end up in these weird overflow maps without knowing , thinking arah is closed when your just in an overflow because you were in LA overflow which nearly always happens because the limit on people is too small for a city, then having to pay a tonne of gold to transfer servers just because they aren’t integrated.
I’d like Ele to be able to just use a sword, not necessarily a greatsword though, main reason for this is there are a few cool looking swords in the game already, but not many cool looking staves. Daggers typically don’t look as good as swords.
This has probably been said thousands of times already but the server with the highest population generally wins in WvWvW, which isn’t fair at all, for example at the moment we are being outnumbered by 2:1 in our own borderland just by one of the enemy teams, and this is during the daytime when we have a lot of players available.
The obvious solution would be to match servers of similar population then introduce caps on how many people can join, depending on the number of the smallest team, but this would prevent people from participating.
So instead my suggestion is that if a team outnumbers the others by a significant amount, their score should be reduced by a varying amount, which would probably be done for the entire WvWvW, not just per map.
Ah ok so there is actually some sort of weapons that are between dungeon and legendary, which can be created in mystic forge, I wasn’t aware such things existed,
that does help with the issue, though I still think my point about mystic coins is valid.
So legendary is supposed to be for the minority of ‘elite’ players that are prepared to go to insane lengths ? Exotic weapons are so easy to get though that everybody can get them, there is no challenge there and they often don’t look good, where is the midpoint in between those two extremes ?
Ok so at this point in the game I’ve got a few 80s fully setup, so I was thinking about perhaps trying to get a legendary weapon next, I knew the requirements were quite high but looking at the wiki page, its actually ridiculous, particularly having 2 crafting profs maxed and 230 mystic coins, those coins you can only get once per day so therefore it takes nearly a year per weapon, or you buy from other players, which means other players are denied the opportunity to achieve this, which seems wrong to me.
Crafting is not something I’m interested in doing, its a sideline and doesn’t really involve any strategy, just grinding for ages, its no use to me apart from creating legendary, so why would I want to max 2 profs ?
Removing these two aspects of the creation process would certainly make it a lot easier, many players will be bypassing this ( major ) aspect of the game because its simply not sensible to attempt it.
