Holy kitten, DANCE MOVES??
My god, I’m so sick of the forums.
Everyone needs a little optimism!
I share the sentiment but traits are also part of the problem.
Other popular builds on different professions always feature cd reduction.
1. Healway guardian – reduces gs cd’s
2. HGH engineer – reduces rifles/pistols cd’s
3. D/x thief – reduces dagger cd’s
4. Condi necromancer – reduces staff cd’s
5. Roaming ranger – reduces gs/longbow/shortbow cd’s
6. Shatter mesmer – reduces staff/sword/pistol cd’s
7. 100b warrior – reduces gs cd’s
And on and on and on…. Now look at elementalists.
1. Auramancer ele – nothing
2. Bunker ele – nothing
3. Condimentalist – nothing
4. Staff ele – NOTHING
It’s because we have to spec into not one, not two, but FOUR traits, one for each attunement (all of which are MASTER traits, except for water as it is an adept trait) if we want cdr across the board.
For added insult to injury, we have skills that have twice as much cd compared to other professions and we can’t even use the cdr traits to mitigate that.

This just proves the fact that Elementalist needs to be easier to play
You need traits that well… specialize in 1-2 attunements, but have amazing traits like this!
Drastically Improves the Fire Attunement, completely locks out Air.
Drastically Improves the Water Attunement, completely locks out Earth.
Drastically Improves the Air Attunement, completely locks out Fire.
Drastically Improves the Earth Attunement, completely locks out Water.Earth should be focused on Condition Damage/Reducing Damage. (Bleeding Damage/Confusion Damage/Protection.)
Water should be focused on Power Damage/Healing. (Vulnerability/Weaknesss/Power Damage/Healing.)
Fire should be Condition Damage/Condition Removal and Control. (Burning, Power, Condition Control. (Remove conditions/cure for each one removed.).
Air Should be Burst/Critical Damage/Daze and Crowd Control.
This way you can have 1 offensive/1 defensive option and more then several viable builds due to different weapon sets.
Reading all of that for the 50th time was awesome. Never gets old.

I don’t know how often, if at all, this has been brought up:
Please remove either the timer or the charges from the Conjures.
Let us play them more like a Weapon Kit. Giving us 2 limits on the weapon we summon into existence feels way too restricting to me, and I just plain don’t use them at all as a result.
I can fill the slot with a skill that I actually feel right using, rather than something that will needlessly limit me even further.Personally, I’d love to see the charges mechanic removed. Then we won’t have to worry about not being able to use our other skills because we spent all the charges on auto-attacking.
Just my two cents, do with it what you will.
It’s been brought up hundreds of times before. You’re basically beating on the spot where a dead horse used to be.
It’s been a year and it seems that Anet won’t be changing conjures drastically any time soon.

Everyone needs a little optimism!
What I think Anet should try is to remove the cdr per attunement traits and just add traits that reduce skills for a weapon.

I saw this thread, and thought the linked video would be a great chance to learn some Tier 1 tactics to help me get better at WvW. Then I watched the first 30 seconds of the video, and it was just him on an AC.
/mindblown
And the rest of the video is spent on pressing 1 in staff repeatedly to tag kills.

But staff elementalists are boringgggg. Add rifles, yo!
And I find it adorable that people want stuff with 25-40 cd be lowered. Elementalists need THEIRS with 60-90 cd stuff LOWERED.

I’m sick of people like LightningBlaze cluttering up this forum.
There is nothing neccessarily wrong with players like him, they provide another prospective, I just wish that they realize that their prospective is extremely flawed. Beating players in WvW doesn’t really say anything about the class, because they are a lot of things that make WvW combat different from pvp. Not including the difference in the way certain skills operate, you got server bonuses, foods, rune combination, the fact that most t1/t2 players are simply headless chickens without a crew behind them.
I will say that the worst are the PvE heroes coming in here and acting like being good at mindless braindead predictable PvE mobs is something to be proud. OMG I can provide mediocre support and do mediocre damage = elementalist being good.
I totally understand where you’re coming from. Really! I love an optimist much as the next guy (my email and account names always includes “optimistic”, lol)
But all I’ve seen from LightningBlaze isn’t positive posts on how he’s playing and building his elementalist differently as a case for argument. No, all he does for almost every post is to start with “I have a level 80 ele” then “I don’t understand why you people aren’t like me” and “Lol, ele’s are fine, you guys just need to learn to play” and the succintly ends with a “I also won a 1v+3, nobigdeal”
I realize I’m wasting my time talking about guys like him but I just want the ele forums to be a muh better place for rational discussion and constructive feedback.

At least we learnt where we were going wrong.
Most if not all of us use all attunements, according to Sharp, all the ele he`s seen only use fire./faccepalmdeskfloor
They were talking about how they wanted rangers to have more control over pet skills, but jsharp said that would be too complex for new players to learn. then they brought up the argument of the ele or engi being complex as well, then jsharp said most new eles are in one attunement like fire. i believe thats where you may be getting confused, he didnt assume everyone who plays the class is a noob.
So JSharp is going to base balance on the assumption that new players will not progress from using one attunement to attunement swapping?
There is a reason why they are called new players. Because they’re playing a flawed playtyle that they naturally grow out of as they get better, or should. But apparently that’s not JSharp thinks. If he thinks at all.

Because Dagger/dagger totally fit the mage theme right? Yet we “accept” it because it was there from the start and you dont question it. Heck I still remember a couple of threads about it on release. Now? People dont even bat an eye.
I expect that the day Anet [hopefully] adds GS people will be very vocal about it, they will make WAAAHHHH threads about how it doesnt fit the class (because GS totally fits mesmers, a light class).
Please, get this right: Magic makes EVERYTHING possible, even casting fire and lighting underwater!!! Dont give me the “it doesnt fit the class” because if there is a totally magic based class that can totally pull this off is definitely elementalists.!

Asking a serious question here.
Were you trolling with the ele, or were you actually that bad? Wait, no, even if you weren’t, who’d admit to being that bad over trolling?
kitten, my head hurts.
I think everyone here is missing the point.
He played terrible with all of them, clicking, just randomly pressing buttons, yet was able to completely faceroll with the last 3 classes lol.
Ohhhhhh, now I get it.
…Oh. Thread’s gotten a little depressing now. I think I’ll go outside for a bit.

Good news. That’s the current plan as explicitly revealed by the developers – to add more weapons to existing classes, both by expanding their selection of current weapons, and adding totally new weapons.

I understand the drive to make threads about improvements to elementalists but please stop pushing your personal agenda.
There are elementalists like me that prefer playing with all four attunements.
Please stop coming up with asinine ideas that benefit only a minority and shafts the rest. Aim for balance ideas that promote build diversity and strengthened theme/performance.
That is what i’m trying to do, but ideas that improve all four attunements with no drawbacks are not something to be really taken into account with, because that means players like you who are very elite get so strong nothing can stop them, because your able to be in all four attunements and be good.
The average player becomes super weak, because they can’t micromanage like that, which is why making traits that lock out attunements but impowers one is a good idea.
But has it occurred to you that we CAN have buffs to promote balanced builds AND be balanced?
Jack of all trades, master of none, that’s what I want.
It’s entirely possible to come up with ideas to promote specialization into an attunement or two. It just takes critical thinking and imagination. Which is, sadly, lacking at the moment for Anet despite the best efforts of dedicated elementalists.
I mean, look at engineers. They can adopt the same role by taking on three kits. Are they overpowered? No. Is anybody crying about them? No. They are proof that balanced playstyles can work and will work with the right minds.
Meanwhile, elementalists like YOU can have YOUR playstyle worked on and made viable. Just don’t have OUR playstyle touched.

Just roll an other class till meta shifts or they buff staff.Maybe go full damage and fresh air with focus.Just try to think what you cna do to help the team the most you can with what you have..So no 1vs1s unless its something like engi which you can manage if you go burst and you know how to play etc.Play it safe, stay at range try maxing dps without dieing ,maybe bringing mist form so you can stomp at least and good luck
Engineers are harder.
And no, not the stupid grenade spam engies. Three-kit engies.
Eles are harder ..and no ,not the stupid serious builds.4 conjure eles :P
Seriously though, rolling between 20 skills with no pentaly and cooldown to prevent you from mindlessy switching kits was never any skillfull.Playing 3 kit engi and thinking it requires skill cause of the immediate access to many skills is the same as saying wow or any other many skills hotkey mmos requires massive skill
At least nades need to be aimed and at least the other classes need to think and chose wise when they swap a skillset
I don’t really understand your train of thought here.
How does having more options make it any less skillful? In reality, it makes it harder given that more options = more ways to respond to even more situations.
Ele’s are restricted in a way given their much higher cooldowns. So most of the time, we’re just spamming our shorter ones while an engineer can pretty much rely on having the right skill at the right time, if they think of it.
Are you implying 3kit engies are bad? Are you? Because that’s just plain wrong. If anything, they are/should be the norm.

He better be in Tarnished Coast. Or I’ll personally drag him there myself.
@Vayne – As you can see from my sig, I’m a bit of an optimist. Yet, I hate the forums. I used to enjoy coming here, sharing my thoughts, participate in a discussion, or just have fun. Now… Everytime I think about the forums, I cringe and tell myself I shouldn’t go. But I always do. Because I’m an optimist.

Mannnnn, ele is out of the meta, they get destroyed by the OP s/d thieves and the OP necro condi spam. No point of having them in this meta even though I still use it because it is actually fun
Bah. Havn’t touched sPvP in months. All I do is WvW roam.
Everyone needs a little optimism!
No buts. I’m tired of posts like the above.
I mean, who ARE you to say elementalists can’t play some weapons? Just look at the so-called mage weapons. The staff is a classic weapon of mages, right? Well, the n when you look past tradition, it’s really just a stick. A stick that somehow makes fireballs appear.
Silly right? No, not really, because it’s already been explained in so many different ways to allow suspension of belief. We channel our energies through it as a conduit, allowing to put forth a form for our thoughts. We imbue it with magic and use our thoughts through discipline to make use of it. Or somebody stuffs a bunch of fireballs into a stick and uses it to set things on fire.
When daggers were announced as elementalist weapons, it quickly became controversial, as they weren’t quite traditional weapons.
Fast forward a year later and nobody bats an eye when an elementalist conjres forth a whip made of lighning using daggers.
So really, I know some of you want swords, hammers, and bows for elementalists. That’s totally fine. Just don’t call us idiots who want weapons that YOU simply don’t like.
Everyone needs a little optimism!
bows aren’t particularly magical weapons.
What? And daggers are?
No?
Then why can elementalists use them?
this is starting to get a bit silly right now xD, ok so now i’ve played Guild Wars 2 for 1 week, tested thing and here’s my conclusion.
Biger race run slower than small race.
False. They all run at the same speed. Bigger people seem slower by comparision becuae they’re… big.
Elementaliste can use dagger but can’t use bow (what?).
Frost Bow. Utility skill. I agree though, it needs to be a main weapon.
Hunter can’t use gun (what?). Guardian are better DPS while warrior are better tank (what?),
What? Not even close. Warriors have far superior DPS. Guardians are great at stayin alive but you don’t ‘tank’ in this game.
frost (“water”) elementaliste are best for support (what?).
Yeah, no. And even if they were good at support, what’s so bad about that?
Summoning a water fall on my allies heal them (what?) xD
Your post made me cringe. (what)
Everyone needs a little optimism!
Because if you /laugh /teabag people after killing them on other classes, you look like a doosh.
When an ele does it, all the enemy can say is “I can accept that.”
No, that still makes you a doosh.
You also sound like a bigger doosh when you expect respect just because you play a different profession.
Everyone needs a little optimism!
Double daggers isn’t that bad…. But yeah, sucks to be pigeonholed into one build.
Everyone needs a little optimism!
Read in a condescending voice: "Its cute you think any thing in the class forum matters to the devs. "
But really, it doesnt. And yes Leuca, I would love for the attunement system to be scrapped so I can focus on using lighting attacks as my main damage instead of having to always use fire. I hate fire spells, so kitten generic.
I find the majority of the weapon skills to be fluff. Each weapon set only has 3-4 good skills among the 20 it has access to. Often requiring me to cast 3 spells to do what 1 on other class would do. Air and water really got the short straw when it comes to usefulness be it damage or support. All imo, of course. =รพ
I read all of this in a 10 year old’s voice and it fit so well.
Everyone needs a little optimism!
I picked this class up and did well, no problems with using it. Sure, it’s a bit glassy, but nothing vitality and some toughness couldn’t fix. After doing so well with it in sPVP and WvWvW from the get-go, I’m baffled with conflicting statements from the forums and my experiences with the class.
Everyone needs a little optimism!
Oh no, I LIKE the class. I’m definitely going to take it to 80, it is a frustrating levelling experience though sometimes for sure. I’ll see how I feel about it at 80, because as you say…its a different ballpark once you have full exotics. It was on the thief too….
Hmm, I used to feel that way and then when I hit level 30, I just thought “kitten it” and went for tons of vitality. Never looked back. Being able to solo a huge mob with a d/d elementalist is the greatest feeling. Hell, if you attunement dance well, you can actually solo certain champs and their veteran aids. Building tanky instead of for damage is AMAZING.
Even more exciting, Ele goes through these power boosts – hitting 60 a couple days ago and got 30 in arcana, and now I am far far more stronger. I’m even able to go into WvWvW and blitz a small zerg, disrupt it for about 6 seconds, and then escape while my allies close in for the kill. I love this class, it’s so… Rambo-like, you know? I can actually roam around on my own or with a partner specced for damage and be able to take supply camps and flags on our own.
I’m now level 68 and am extremely excited about hitting level 80 soon. I can’t begin to imagine what I can do with exotics. I feel like God when I play an elementalist.

Rifles. Just think about it.
1. Rifles are used by one heavy armor profession and one medium armor profession. Yet, none of the light armor professions. When you think about the number of unique weapons for necromancers (axe, warhorn) and mesmers (greatsword, sword, pistols, torch) Elementalists have nothing to stand out with. They do bring conjured weapons to the table. However, they don’t quite qualify as a substitute because they don’t use the attunement swap mechanics, aren’t affected by a lot of traits, and do not have different weapon skins. Therefore, they cannot count as substitutes for lack of main weapons.
.
2. Rifles could introduce a fantastic way to reliably deal damage from afar, though mostly single target and using utilities mostly benefiting the user itself. That way, it stands out as a long range and kiting dos as opposed to staves for stationary combat through bombarding an area and providing team support, scepters as a mid range weapon and various utilities, and daggers for high speed melee combat.
.
3. Rifles being used by a magical profession? It’d be freakin’ amazing in my opinion. The attunements could, of course, be like the other weapon sets, except with some twists to make it really feel like a magical gunner, thematically: fire is for direct and burn damage using flamethrower like attacks, water for some healing and cleanses, air for long range sniping (imagine a lightning bullet being fired instantly for high damage – with some inpressive sound effects such to emulate a natural lightning bolt) jumps, dashes, or teleports (it’d be nice to have a second lighning flash. One can dream…) for instant repositioning to maintain distance…. or to get close enough to use the earth attunement, which could feature powerful shotgun attacks and bleeds to accompany the scatter shots, as well as durability to survive better at point blank range.
.
4. Rifles are two handed weapons. It’d be easier to balance it on its own rather than weighing a new main or offhand weapon against existing weapons like daggers and focuses. Also, the other two hand weapon are already conjures. Greatswords, which are already covered by an elite skill (firey greatsword is fine as is.) and hammers by a conjuration skill (lightning hammer is just fine as is, considering the fact that it already tops the damage charts)
.
.
.
In short, a rifle would provide elementalists its “unique” flavor as opposed to the other light armor professions while giving us a fresh way to play elementalists.
Thoughts?
(p.s. I’m hoping that Anet doesn’t see this post. I’m paranoid that they’ll do see it and then decide that rifles for ele’s is actually the worst idea ever. Hooray for irrational fears! Also, the ease of writing this lengthy post from an ipod… Kudos to Anet’s website team/whoever designed the whole flipping thing!)
