Server Titles for WvW playtime ?

What if we can get such a feature that will track the time spend playing WvW or certain server and reward us a “server title” (e.g. “Vabbi Hound”).

The idea is simple – you gather up points while playing wvw on one server and your points decrease if you transfer away and you’re not able to gain more points toward gaining points for your new server till you loose all points from your previous server.

I call them ‘honor points’ (pride points).

There could be a variety of titles depending on your points you have accumulated – which will be tied to a title progression. (example: tier 1 – Vabbi Hound for 1000 points and tier 2 Vabbi Scout for 5000 points)

Achievement with progression to boost a bit the server pride and a way to show off your loyalty to your server you love.

what do you think and what titles you would like to have to show off ?

They just need to take the rewards from the reward tracks and put them on vendors in WvW that can be purchased with badges of honor.

Allow us to buy a random dungeon token for 50 badges of honor.

Allow us to buy a leveling book for 100 badges of honor.

Allow us to buy a skill scroll for 10 badges of honor.

Allow us to buy the PvP skin with 1000 badges of honor.

Unlock finishers based on WvW rank.

Badges are stupidly easy to get in EotM. Any rewards should come from real WvW. PvErs have thousands of badges, often more than WvWers do. It kind of defeats the purpose if PvErs benefit from it more than players who are dedicated to only doing WvW.

@OP – Totally support the idea. WvW definitely needs more rewards. The ones we get are pretty pathetic compared to PvE and PvP.

Pretty much everyone had to suffer said lag in s/tPvP, Dungeons, WvW or such recently, or know people who had, while Anet pretends it’s the player’s ISP/Computers that are responsible (said ISP/computers are nasty little buggers, because they manage to cause random dc at the EXACT SAME SECOND in WvW, on both sides of an engagement, from 7+ countries, God knows how many cities, and at least 10+ ISP, really mean ISP/computers conspirating to screw up players over in that way……….. the NSA should hire them, those machines/companies are far better than the almighty NSA xD), but honestly i neved had the idea to check the ip of the maps it happens on.

In Dungeons/s-tPvP/PvE it’s maps that don’t last and change really fast, in WvW, it’s indeed instances that last a week without change (hence the fact people notice it more there), and the fact it last a whole MU would be explained by the instance/server it runs on being borked.

We need to start a list of the problematic ip on this forum, to track it and get a clear picture.

On Tarnished Coast our wvw community has been discussing methods to improve communication across borderland maps during wvw.

We concluded that a server wvw channel in the Chat Panel would alleviate many of our current frustrations, and also enhance our community.

How would this suggestion help us? A player with the outmanned buff is doing sentry duty on a waypointed TC Hills. He or she sees incoming BG zerg to the north. There are no commanders on map and no response for help in map chat so he goes to mumble (IF he has it downloaded) and scrambles to find a commander and zerg who is available to help. Often by the time this is done, the BG zerg is in the Lord’s Room because of the delay, and the Keep is lost. If we had a server cross borderland channel that SOS call would have been seen by all TC players in borderlands, and those in teamspeak, mumble or even not in third party voice coms, could respond. And let others know they are doing so. This would make wvw much more dynamic. Guilds could work together and coordinate easily. Our new players entering wvw for the first time who have no idea about voice coms, would understand our server objectives and how we are one server fighting ACROSS borderlands.

It also has the potential to be great for server morale. XX Guild takes SMC after a two hour battle with JQ. They announce the take in server channel. Other guilds, havoc groups, random players could offer congratulations from across all maps. It would really strengthen our feeling as one server.

Trolls could be blocked.

We move maps constantly. Please consider giving us a wvw server channel that crosses borderlands in our Tier. We use /m for map chat, our /t team chat is redundant, but a wvw server chat would definitely not be.

Black lion weapon scraps and Keys… What does this have to do with WvW? I mean, we’re grateful that you guys finally decided we deserve to have cool skins too but you’re giving us access to literally skins that the PvE community has had for months, if not over a year.

Wxp boosters- Idk, maybe I’m alone on this but I feel like these would be worth more and more appreciated if it wasn’t for the guy who hit max rank (either last week or the week before) on EoTM. It’s like your choosing to give us these to compensate for the fact that we can’t compete with their Karma train.

Primers and Boosts- I don’t know how much the total “Pack” costs, but is it really necessary to throw in things that I have dozens of sitting in my vault, likely just to drive up the price so that you can still say we’re getting a good deal on the ticket scraps.

I remember the first time I saw Diving Goggles, conveniently placed on the precipice of a ledge above some water.

After the initial shock wore off, I stood staring down at them, my mind racing to comprehend their meaning, Literally a couple of possibilities swirled around my tiny brain but it was too much. Exhausted, I logged off.

I went for a walk just to clear my mind. The image of those goggles haunted me as I walked along the path, teasing me with their impenetrable puzzle. I saw the moon and the stars, and it dawned on me. Just like the endless mysteries of the universe, I was not meant to understand. In another life, in another time – maybe.

I had looked upon those goggles on that ledge like a mouse looks upon Michaelangelo’s David. They were simply too huge to comprehend, to hold their full meaning in my head would be like holding the sea in a teacup.

Sometimes I still dream about them, and the ledge. In the dream, the water below rushes up to meet me, an epiphany promised within its depths – but then I wake up, and the dream, like the answers, fade away.

I cant create topic in Suggestion sub-forum, so please if moderator can move it, will be great. If no – hope all will appreciate the idea and it will arrive to creators of game.

  • Idea is to add a check-box in menu, under ground targeting type, which will provide auto limit of skill range.
  • For example, you need to cast fast a mass spell at a maximum range and with this option we will be able to move fast mouse forward and ground circle will move until limit of maximum range and stop there even if you move mouse farther.
  • circle will stay green at a maximum range and wont go farther in red and stopping you to cast saying that is too far.

Similar control option have skills like: Whirlwind Attack and Fiery Whirl
Its so nice to execute quick without any delay and easy to implement in this idea, just to add possibility to set from closer range to max.

Edge of the Mists, yep this area is killing off WvW. I know there will be people annoyed as heck reading this….but Anet need to reduce rewards in EoTM by 80%.
WHAAAT nooo way i can already hear it.
What is the purpose of Eotm? Its supposed to function as an overflow, mess about, lounge room area, while waiting to ENTER WvW.
I was in Eotm while qued for EB and busted on an episode while following the zerg around. I could not believe how much i was being rewarded for killling time holy hanna.
MORE badges then WvW, more Kama then WvW, more WXP then WvW, more levels gained, more everything.
No wonder there are sooo many people in here.
And then there are alot of days where i will be roaming the borderlands with a friend and not see more then 2-3 server allies, for hours on end.
What the hell Anet
Eotm contributes close to nothing for the WvW’ers, just takes people away from it.
Oh yer iam on Jade Quarry, thats right a TIER 1 server, just in case someone was bout to say move to a more populated server.
Right now everyone brings their low levels here to level up, you can level up 1-80 in couple of days.
Reduce the rewards massively and lets get some life back into WvW.
iam prepared for the salty response.

Oh btw, no thanks for making this seasons achievements so boring and easy, took like 10min when i was qued in Eotm while watching eps.

Let’s talk about Siege Trolls and what we can do about them. The problems that have been brought up are:

  • Creating Siege to hit the siege cap
  • Creating the wrong type of siege to hit area siege caps
  • Spending supply on needless siege to drain supply depots
  • Dropping siege on top of legitimate siege build sites

Here are some parameters and questions we should consider:

  • Can we come up with a system that doesn’t involve constant policing from GMs?
  • What are the characteristics of bad behavior that are different than good behavior?
  • How do we prevent bad behavior without making too big of an impact on good behavior?
  • What restrictions might we be able to live with as good players in order to prevent bad behavior?

To kick off the brainstorm I’ll throw out this idea:

  1. When a player places a piece of siege they receive a stack of “Exhaustion”
  2. A stack of “Exhaustion” expires after three minutes
  3. If a player has three stacks of “Exhaustion” they can no longer place siege

We are just brainstorming here so I’d love to hear alternative suggestion or whether or not this would work for you.

I know there are other threads on this but I want to start with a clean discussion and focus on how we can realistically address this issue. Let’s keep this constructive and focused.

  • We’re not going to get into a philosophical discussion about “If you’re warning about XYZ, then you are required to warn about ABC.” Just… don’t go there because any form of warning is a kindness, not a requirement.

In the past, we’ve made it clear that GMs (aka Customer Support agents) would not send players in-game warnings. Today, we’re going to start giving warnings in specific cases. This will not involve a lot of hand-holding, “second chances,” and do-overs. But please note this important information:

If you get a whisper in gold text, pay heed. This is a official warning and you need to immediately rethink what you’re doing. Once warned, if you continue what you’re doing, you risk an account suspension, even an account termination.

This new policy does not imply that everyone will get a warning. If you use offensive chat, you will be suspended or amass another mark towards suspension. If you cheat, your account is headed on a one-way trip to Termination Territory. But for certain infractions, we’re going to try warnings to see if we can “pull players away from the abyss” and allow them to continue playing our game.

Commander Tag Colour - 'Official' meta?

I get your point, but trying to establish such a thing is simply not going to happen. Each server community is going to have to work it out for themselves. I’m betting on some of the lower pop servers, such as mine, we will just have commanders using whatever color they want just to differentiate from each other.

Commanders on low pop servers will often map hop, playing all roles from offense, defense, havok and pugmander. In these cases I would rather a commander pick a color so I can stick with them regardless of which map we hop to. Sure, I could join squad, but honestly I like to be able to see when there are multiple commanders on a map.

The cost of the commander tags is completely disproportionate with the typical income for wvw players.
Either commander tags have to be available to wvw players for a reduced cost, supplemented with badges (eg. 150g + 10000 badges), or rewards have to be greatly increased to compensate. Preferably both.
The current price is a total slap in the face to wvw players.

The commander tag is not a status symbol for the people who understand it. The pugmannders who are tagging on your Eternal Battlegrounds and trying to lead your server to victory in WvW, the servers and communities that regularly organize Wurm and Tequatl, the hardcore WvW guilds who lead 24hr paintrains, the solo commander who is explaining Drytop and trying to rally the map for a T6 run…all these people appreciate and understand the tag more than Anet ever will.

However, closed-minded PvEers and Anet seem to think it is a vanity item.

My thoughts exactly.

If they wanted to give the feature a vanity touch, they would have created several different icons and make some fancy ones expensive.

But all colors and at least 5 shapes must be free once the badge is earned.

  • All colors must be free so people can quickly switch between them to organize.
  • There has to be at least 5 free shapes because not everyone can tell the colors aparts.
  • And it must be earned, not bought because what we need commanding is people that knows the content, then commands; not people that grinds a dungeon to get the badge, then clumsily commands without knowing what they are doing at all.
SUGGEST-A-TRON says:
PAY—ONCE—UNLOCKS—ARE—ALWAYS—BETTER.
No exceptions!

A status symbol. Most WvW commanders I’ve talked to won’t bother to purchase a new color based on the fact they are being charged for a feature designed to help organize players in large groups, something this game has desperately needed since release.

The new colors will become a status symbol, and I fear players might even be mocked for purchasing them, much like the guy in town who revs his engine at the stop light in his super expensive car, or the guy who parks in the handicapped space in his brand new red Ferrari.

What are your thoughts?

Like a lot of people in the forum I don’t want to run FotM just to get the Mist Stone needed to make the ascended back piece. I hate FotM so much I will probably skip this step. While I’ve been loving the scavenger hunt quality of this back piece, for a lot of the reasons other people have mentioned, I was disappointed with requirement.

But you know something? I’ll live. If it was just the back piece, I’d still care, but I’d get over it.

However, the real issue, in my opinion, is the bonus of Mawdrey II you get from crafting the back piece. Mawdrey II is a plant that eats your Bloodstone Dust – you know, all the pink stuff filling up your bank – and gives you stuff in return. For 50 piles of dust it returns random loot. While it seems to mostly give back greens and harvest mats, some people are already saying they’re getting rares from it.

This is the equivalent of giving the back piece people their own personal vendor. People have been clamoring for better uses of Bloodstone dust (I have over 100 bricks in my bank.), and this is ArenaNet’s solution??

That kitten’s not fair. It’s not fair to people who don’t want to do FotM. It’s not fair to people who don’t have an interest in making the back piece. It’s not fair to people who PvP. It’s so not fair, I’m surprised, no one else seems to have mentioned it. Most things people complain about not being fair in GW2 are vanity issues, but this is a whole different category of unfairness.

In my opinion, there should be a Bloodstone vendor, but if ArenaNet insists on not creating a vendor, then make the Mawdrey plant a reward for completing the storyline. Everyone should be able to complete the story.

TLDR: The ability to trade in your Bloodstone dust for loot shouldn’t be made available only to those who finish the back piece, it should be available to everyone.

Took the group i joined around 2:34 minutes to reach 3rd map’s last boss.

By this time we got 1 of the players afk multiple times and eventually leave.

We got 1 of the other guys start raging and make 1 more of the players leave.

So basically I’ve been put into situation I’ve spend around 3h and not being able to acquire the item i was there for.

No offense but I see no logic for you to be here except deliberately trolling people who just ask for mare variety.

Thank you for your involvement in this topic but you have no reason to be opposite to this idea which is just an improvement and adds variety.

If you like Fractals and trolling people in fractals that much – do it but you have no right to troll wvw players who ask for support here.

It’s a game we all bought with money for different reasons – you may enjoy fractals same as we bought this game because we enjoy wvw.

You already have the NPC that can be used to sell those – same NPC that sells gift of battle.

And the number of badges required can be increased.

Anet please don’t forget about us – WvW only players :<
Please start using those badges to provide us with items we need to craft the new items so we can feel part of this game.

Stop isolating WvW players.

Feeling like the unwanted child for past 2 years started to hurt a lot lately.

New Keep/Garrison Upgrade

Re-plugging some of my old suggestions back in here for good measure >.>

New Buildables:
– Walls/Barricades
– Slow Traps
– Buildable Watchtowers
– Buildable Supply Depot (Allow players to deposit supply, not only withdraw)
– Ramps for high terrain/walls (fragile/low hp)

New Camp Upgrades:
– Dolyak Armor: Equip your Dolyaks with the latest and greatest in combat platemail, allowing them to engage enemies when struck and soak up more damage. (requires guard upgrade first)
– Dolyak Carrot: Increase the speed of your Dolyak, allowing it to run to its location.
– Watchtower: Upgrades the camp with a watchtower for your Guild Claimer and grants the Guild Claimer a ranged secondary weapon to defend itself.

New Garrison Upgrades:
– Golem Factory: Upgrade your Garrison with a Golem Factory add-on, allowing for automated Golem creation. Builds 1 Golem every 1 hour, max: 5 Golems. (requires Waypoint Built)
– Runic Portal: Allows portal travel to the Bloodlust Ruins (located between all 5 points) (requires Waypoint built)

New Map-wide Upgrades: (located in Citadel)
– Upgrade Sentries your world controls into small outposts, consisting of 2 Guards, 2 Archers and 1 Scout (marks nearby targets). Requires Home Borderlands Keeps and Garrison under control.

New Structures:
– Skritt Hovel (change functionality similar to claimable forces in Eternal Battlegrounds.) Fortifies the location in the NW of the map to be a new claimable location with bonuses.
– Modniir Stronghold (change functionality similar to claimable forces in Eternal Battlegrounds.) Fortifies the location in the NE of the map to be a new claimable location with bonuses.

New Structural Upgrade:
– Electrified Gates (Players who strike the gate with standard attacks have damage returned.

Gate Upgrades: Reduce gate health by 25% and apply a bonus:

- Dredge Tech: gates are immune to flame blast vulnerability.
- Asuran Tech: gates deal damage back to players striking it without siege, with a 10% chance to stun on damage.
- Sylvari Tech: gates slowly regenerate health without requiring supply, but are twice as vulnerable to Flame Blast.
- Charr Tech: gates cast off metal shards when struck by siege weapons, bleeding and crippling enemies nearby.
- Human Tech: barricades are built on both inner and outer sides, limiting space near the gate entrance.
- Norn Tech: Totemic gates give nearby allies bonus might, and periodically chill enemies (1s per 10s)

Electric Fence

Who can use it: Electric Fense is an upgrade available to guild members of an owned Keep/Tower/Garrison with Claiming permissions.

What it does: When purchased and completed, Electric Fence will prevent all players from directly interacting with the supply depots of the claimed location. This process can be activated and deactivated by an NPC.

Players attempting to access the Supply Depot without permission will be given a quick shock, and a small amount of damage or blindness.

Why use this: This is to alleviate issues with trolls, and players who do not know build procedures within higher value structures, unintentionally (or ex Trolls, intentionally) delaying the progress of structure upgrades, or preventing them completely.

Since the old one was locked due to a necromancer bringing it back….I figure since it is still actually relevant and also valid, I shall repost for the purpose of discussion.

Commander UI: A map/UI window that allows commanders to view all sub-commander’s locations and their nearby allies and enemies via map dots (same radius as normal player range) as well as placed siege of all types (icons for siege will be displayed on the map)

The commander UI will allow the commander to view any supply currently located in any server owned towers/keeps/camp/etc. on the UI screen. (Ex. Location Name – Supply:125)

Custom waypoint markers and path markers will be given to the commander and will be displayed on the map and mini-map of any sub-commanders, with an option to be displayed to all, or specific sub-commanders.

Some markers may include:
Arrows for directional guidance
“No Symbol” for halting movement to certain zones or areas, or localize movement
Stars/Diamonds/Circles/Squares for team stacking/movement
Unique siege icons to pinpoint locations for siege placement such as ballistae/trebuchets/catapults.
Custom icons for hotspot identification or reinforcement routes.
Shield icons for defense locations

Commanders will be able to also directly use the Draw feature on the Ui map and will be shown to all active/or specified sub-commanders.

A side-bar on the window will also display the number of sub-commanders/other commander locations on the other maps for WvW uses (ability to see how many sub-commanders are located in each borderlands + EB listed in the window)

Sub-commanders (current commander system): Current commanders will be now labeled as sub-commanders, with the ability to access and alter their commander icon to various shapes and colors to help keep themselves locatable among other sub-commanders (one may have a pink star, another may have a green circle)

The color chosen will also determine their chat name color when using a new commander chat (similar to Team chat) allowing players to identify specific commanders orders directly in chat. They will also have the ability to place custom waypoint markers that can be directly linked into chat for pinpoint team movement.

Commander: This will now be a position limited to 1 per map and have direct contact with all sub-commanders, view all members within sub-commanders squads as well as their supply counts, and access to a new custom UI (see above). The position will require a new pre-requisite to become a commander.

With the influx of gold into the economy, the numbers of commanders have risen considerably, as well as the confusion associated with new commanders in both WvW and PvE environments. Limiting the “high tier” commander to 1 per map, and having a new pre-requisite (maybe even a small test given by an NPC, that simply shows they are capable of commanding) would help alleviate the overall messiness of the current system.
