As power engi, which would be less of a DPS loss if I wanted to get 25% passive speed increase?
- Drop Tools in favor of Inventions (for Mecha Legs)
- Drop Scholar runes in favor of Traveler Runes
Please let me know your opinions.
Whisper’s Rifle!
Sorry, I’ll update the spreadsheet later today. I thought it was moot to test but it seems otherwise.
Jaguar is the answer. Lynx averages 3027 while Jaguar averages 3115 on power setups.
Edit: For kittens and giggles, numbers for Arctodus and the Murellow for condition setups are now listed. Spoilers: On a single target, they both do nearly the same DPS.
Also, Lynx is better for a power setup if the target is mobile, but not by much, like a bit over 60 DPS more (if that matters).
thanks for the info
assuming you dont need the fury from tiger? i know lynx is the best for condi ranger but i wasnt sure if it still was for power since power ranger typically doesnt have Expertise Training
Take a look.
i saw this earlier but these tests include using Expertise Training. i want to know whether or not the Lynx is still top dps without it, and if it isnt, what is?
Are you talking for pve/pvp?
I think the three highest dps pets are still the tiger, smokescale and bristleback.
PVE
forgot to put it in my OP

“Two-handed Training”, located in the Beastmastery traitline, decreases the Greatsword tooltip damage by 5%, rather than increasing it by 5%.
I did some brief testing, and this appears to be solely a tooltip issue; the actual damage delivered seems to be correctly increased by 5%.
The smokescale and bristleback appear to have a bug that causes them to do very little damage to various vinetooth mobs in Auric Basin (possibly other zones as well, but I’ve only tested AB)
When ever I engage any type of Vinetooth in AB both of these pets seem to only do 10-30 damage per hit, regardless of what ability they are using. It seems to only happen against Vinetooth mobs.
I encourage other people to go out and test this as well. This issue appears to be limited to just these two pets.

Tizlak is bro tier
That is all.
I saw the WW changes and I had a slight glimmer of hope that they may have finally fixed it (after years) but nope, still broken.
Females of any race (I haven’t tried Charr female but w/e) can still only get a maximum of 12 WW hits (6 melee hits and 6 projectiles).
Want to see it for yourself? Go to a large PVP golem ( or any large stationary target), stand in the middle, and use WW. You will only get 12 hits total, instead of the 14 male Guards get.
GG sexist Anet GG
(that last part is sarcasm)

i think a new elite specialization would be the best way to introduce a pet-less playstyle
“Two-Handed Training” appears to REDUCE the damage of Maul when traited, as opposed to increasing it by the stated 5%.
Without “Two-Handed Training”: 1935 damage

With “Two-Handed Training”: 1857 damage
I would like to see some unreleased hairstyles. I’ve seen some people use the hairband one

huh, never saw this before. Cool.
imo the best thing they can do is make #2 hit more reliably
It’s been almost 6 months since the last batch, where are they Anet?
Don’t you want my money?
If you have ascended armor transmuted to a cultural set (lets say, Norn), and you want to send it to another character of a difference race (lets say, Sylvari), and transmute it to that characters cultural armor, is there anyway to avoid having to use double the transmute charges?
Because its kinda lame if you have to spend 6 charges to change the armor to a neutral set to equip on your other character, and then another 6 to transmute it to that characters cultural armor.
ive more-or-less been using this exact build, but for solo pve lol
only difference is i use skirmishing instead of druid
Or is it all about 1h sword now?
This is for PVE.
imo it just needs like + 25-30% damage on #1 and it’s fine.
How far behind is sword compared to staff when talking solely from a dps perspective. Is it at least viable/competitive, or is it too far off?
Blacksarevok…. I was messaged for hours in game. He “knew” he was right and wanted me to make a post to get others opinions, to prove he was correct….
Thats why the thread
if you were harassed then contact anet in game or via email and they will review the chat log
this doesnt need to be a thread
Blacksarevok …. I totally agree.
so then why make this thread? if you dont care about the money then why is a flat rate + the excess going to the bank an issue?
i dont understand why they got rid of ricochet to begin with? it was a very popular trait (among the 5 people that actually played p/p)
if you are anchoring maps just for money to begin with then you are doing it wrong. if you need money, dont anchor.
back in my day we anchored for free. entitled kids these days
the whirling wrath bug still exists among female characters it seems. here are some threads about it:

is the greatest thing to happen in this game
im not being sarcastic, this **** is LIFE CHANGING
thank you anet
Zeal/Honor/DH for best symbol damage?
Zeal/Radiance/DH for sword CD reduction?
what do you guys think?
(this is for PVE)
(edited by Blacksarevok.8104)
i really cant afford to lose another 1k gold
heres a post i made a while back on the issue
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/guardian/I-don-t-understand-Whirling-Wrath
and heres one i posted on the bug forums that got no replies

(edited by Blacksarevok.8104)
it’s bugged on all races female characters, even Asura
tested on the PVP golems, 12 out of 14 hits on all females
Who won?
Watch out for deer in core tyria. They are king in the wild…
Elite Chak won, but only by a sliver. the veteran Bristleback put up a hell of a fight.
The Smokescale died first, which was satisfying
So I just got done watching a Smokescale, Jungle Boar, Veteran Bristleback, and Elite Chak Zapper fight each other.
Wow! Where did you see that?! Obviously Tangled Depths… I’m thinking near the Scar Bivouac? That’s the only place I can think of that has chak and bristlebacks together.. am I close?
Southeast-ish of Teku Nuhoch, in the area where the Champ Chak lobber likes to patrol
So I just got done watching a Smokescale, Jungle Boar, Veteran Bristleback, and Elite Chak Zapper fight eachother.
It got me thinking… maybe I should begin traveling around various zones in Tyria and capture various local wildlife fighting eachother in battles for survival. Go where no Tyrian has gone before.
I could make a series called “Tyria: UNTAMED”. Surely this is what the videogame world has been waiting for all this time.
The bug where Norn, Human, and Sylvari females can only get 12 out 14 Whirling Wrath hits is still around.
The easiest way to replicate this bug is to use the target golems in the PVP lobby. Norn/Human/Sylvari females will consistently only get 12 hits, whereas their male counterparts will consistently get 14.
Moving like a slug all the time.
Is Guardian the only class without a passive speed increase?
The glitch as been around since, forever… unfortunately.
Humans – Their animation will land the full 14 hits according to battle logs.
Norns & Charr – They will only land 12 hits, with the main Sword actually missing hits. The damage loss is actually quite substantial between Humans and these two classes.Haven’t tested other classes.
This animation bug has been submitted before but like most bugs in the game, Anet chooses not to fix it.
ugh, figures, im playing a Norn
Time to reroll I guess, good thing I didn’t get to 80 yet
So I made a Human Guardian today and did some testing out in Queensdale, and now I’m even more confused than I was before.
- I was running into the exact same issue as I was with my Norn; against normal size and smaller targets, I was still getting less than 7 melee strikes most of the time (usually 5).
- At one time, I managed to land 15 hits on a river drake with one WW (including TEN melee hits. WTF?)
I feel like the devs must have messed with this ability since it was last tested in depth by the community, because what I’m experiencing in game doesn’t seem to lining up with the information I’ve been finding online.

So I read this:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Whirling_Wrath
WW is broken down into two damage parts: 7 “whirl” hits and 7 “projectile” hits
Now from what I do understand, the projectiles are somewhat RNG and are not guaranteed to all hit vs normal/small hit boxes.
What I don’t get is the damage via the “whirl” attacks. When I check my combat logs, it seems most of the time that I use WW vs normal/small hitboxes, only 5ish of the Whirl attacks are actually hitting, let alone the projectile attacks. Are the Whirl attacks supposed to be RNG as well? The wiki more-or-less implies that you should be getting 7 whirl hits consistently assuming you within the 130 radius.
Disclaimer: Yes, I am standing inside of the enemies hitbox
if they were going to nerf the smokescales direct damage they should have at least buffed its condi damage to 700 (or 1000) so that the bite bleed will somewhat make up for the direct damage loss
i can also confirm the issue was not fixed
I just completed the Auric Basin meta, and looted all the chests including the 5 Grand Exalted chests, and I did not receive any Heroes Choice chest. Is this happening for anyone else?
yep, having the same problem. Inscription does not grant the 20% CD reduction to Glyph of Elemental Harmony or Glyph of Elemental Power
noticed that Glyph of Elemental Harmony is also not benefiting from Inscription
Windows 7 64 bit
32 bit client
does it still not apply the 50% falling damage reduction when the symbol is still on cooldown?
have you guys actually played at all today?
they apparently fixed the bristleback F2 terrain issue in the patch
bristleback, tiger/lynx, smokescale
i find myself using electric wyvern alot too. its dps is garbage but it has 3 break bar abilities which come in handy
lol come on guys, it was always listed to have lower vitality than it had and you should have known this was coming. it was op as hell before, best dps even as a ranged and the same defensive stats as a bear.
though it should be noted that they may have fixed the pathing issues with F2. ive been using it all day and i have yet for it to miss anything? anyone else wanna mess with it?
