except men. men don’t have skimpy options to choose from. specially in medium armor.

You mean men don’t have “skimpy options to choose from” ONLY in medium armor, because they exist in Light and Heavy.

At the same time, not including racial sets which can vary, women have only about 3 or 4 “skimpy” medium options, keeping in mind some which are gemstore only.

It is rather annoying how every other character is female wearing less clothing than a stripper.

Stop kitten shaming!

…Seriously though, there are revealing and covered options for all armor types.
(Though actually there are disproportionately less revealing ones for both Medium and Heavy)

You’re seeing what you’re seeing because that’s what people want to /choose to wear.
(Good lord, this was never a kittening issue in GW1. Kids these days…)

Gem prices have doubled in price.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Blackworm.2167

Blackworm.2167

But it might not be. The only thing needed for the exchange price to go up is more gems are pulled out of the exchange than put in. That’s it. Players could be buying gems and NOT converting them to gold but actually buy stuff at the shop. An increase in gold coming into the game plus the increasing rate may discourage converting left over gems into gold.

It’s just there is a number of scenarios that don’t mean gem sales are dropping. I’m expecting another $25-30 million quarter for 2Q.

That is indeed a good point.
I just don’t personally think that is the case at this point in time, but then again, there is no real way of knowing without A-net revealing their charts.

The problem is self fixing, as if gems for RL money sales fall, then the gold / gem exchange rate will keep going up, until its unnafordable to buy gems with gold, thus meaning that gems will only be obtainable for RL money.

That would take much, much longer than you’re thinking, I’m sure.
One only has to look at the rate at which gem prices are increasing over time to see that; it will be a long time before gems become “unaffordable”. (And they are currently the highest they’ve ever been)
It wouldn’t be in A-net’s best interests to wait until that happens as an incentive to buy gems.

The state of thick leather

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

At the very least, can it only take 3 thick per cured instead of 4? This would be a quick fix for this items cost to be more reasonable, and within the cost of other t5 materials of this type(wood, ore, cloth).

This. There aren’t any other refined materials that require 4 unrefined materials; they all require 3 at the most.
There’s no reason for thick leather to require 4.

HoT Legendaries

I prefer sword but I just had to post that pic because it’s awesome.

Speaking of swords, they could make the next legendary sword a rapier, and the next legendary focus a fan. Make all the Mesmers happy.

My other ideas include:
A type of nodachi for the legendary greatsword, any theme would work;
A paintbrush-like legendary scepter, complete with painterly effects;
A non-joke legendary mace (another thread mentioned flails. Why not?);
And a legendary dagger more akin to Caithe’s Bloom Dagger, something actually physical, unlike the Incinerator.

That white-black / day-night theme you’re talking about has kinda already been done, 3 times in fact. (Kraitkin, Howler, Sunrise/Twilight and Eternity)

But hey, they could do it with the rifle, or maybe the shield?
I was thinking of a space-themed shield, myself. The front could be like a portal into space or something, with the sun and moon visible at different times.

Or they could do two 1H swords this time, one light, the other dark, for dual wielding. (Though personally, I would rather they had done that with the pistols)

HoT Legendaries

Blackworm.2167

No.

The last thing this game needs is more legendary greatswords.

Twilight and Sunrise have already the most effects and animations compared to the other legendaries. They have the longer lasting footprints, which are also large unlike Colossus/Meteorologicus, they bring an aura with themselves, and their attack animations are amongst the most detailed.

Yes.

We do need more legendary greatswords. Ones that are nothing like Eternity et al.

Quite frankly, I find those swords rather ugly.
They somehow manage to be too flashy and incredibly bland simultaneously.

There is beauty in simplicity; they need to tone it down a bit.

Btw, we need a legendary longbow like this:

Personally, I would prefer one based on the moon.
I feel a legendary bow with that theme is much needed.

Maybe. But IMO “being able to relate (only to human looking toons)” is the same as I said, just sugarcoated. Why could someone not be able to relate to other imaginary beings that doesn’t look that similar to “beauty-ideals” humans?

Of course there are many “legit” reasons to choose humans over other models in a fantasy game. I have 2 humans because they fitted better some character designs I wanted to make.

But when there is an imbalance SO BIG in the race populations, I can’t help but think we, as a culture, are really lacking mental flexibility.

I can’t help but notice your posts come off as really SJW-preachy.

If people want to play as humans, let them play as humans.
That way you can feel like more of a special snowflake when you play a non-human.

Future X-Pacs and Specializations

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Blackworm.2167

Blackworm.2167

In a future expansion, I would love to see the Ritualist, Paragon and Dervish come back as specialisations – perhaps under different names.

I think the builds are kinda being parceled out among different professions so that the feel of various builds are there, but not necessarily under the same banner.

Ritualists are somewhat split between a variety of professions: turret engineers and Ventari revenants probably being the closest.

Paragons are split between various professions with support shouts – Guardian, Warrior, you can even make an argument for Tempest.

Dervish I think comes a little bit into Jalis and Mallyx revenants… while the Reaper strikes me as being a callback to lifestealing Grenth dervish builds.

Now, this doesn’t mean that I don’t think we can’t at some point have specialisations with those names (for the dervish in particular, I don’t think the former focus on the human gods is a barrier – it can just be said that dervishes were the first to discover what are now human racial skills (Avatar of Melandru, Reaper of Grenth) and the rest of the dervish line was actually no more tied to the gods than the monk skills were) – however, a lot of the things you can do with other professions and specialisations are at least quite reminiscent of builds from those professions.

Revenant is nothing Like Dervish. Revenant is actually based on the Ritualist.
Dervish is easily unique enough to be its own profession.

The argument that “it doesn’t make sense with non-humans” doesn’t hold up, as
Anet pretty much threw lore out the window with regards to professions.
Sylvari can be Necros and Engies, Norn can be Engies, Charr can be Guardians, etc.
So why does it matter?
I wouldn’t be surprised if they phased out racial skills at this point, tbh.
Professions come first anyway.

Not to mention the fact that Scythe was the only weapon type not to be brought over from GW1 (for some reason). That needs to be rectified.

I actually designed a concept of what the Dervish UI would look like, complete with an enchantment stacking/teardown profession mechanic. I’ll have to find that again…

Are they actually going to have their profession skills this time? Somehow I doubt it…

I was disappointed when I first saw a raptor in this game to find that it wasn’t slitting my throat, instead screeching and auto-attacking.

The lack of Assassin raptors in GW2 greatly disturbs me.

Awful Female Human Heavy Armor Art Design

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Blackworm.2167

Blackworm.2167

For me the main problem with the heavy armor is that the chest armor is shaped like breasts. That just can’t be comfortable and besides that it’s downright dangerous in battle. The plate over the chest is there to deflect blows to the side. In the case of two shaped breasts a blade can slide in between, your opponent just has to lift her arm up and you have a blade sticking up your jaw and into your skull.

I too want my characters to be able to be distinguished as female, but I daresay that we do not need skimpy armor, or boob-shaped armor for that. To give an ingame example: the chainmail sets as well as the ascalonian chestpiece.
To give some real world examples:

Don’t we already have a big set of those type of armor ingame? In fact if I’m not mistaken the carapace and glorious armor (2 of the aded armor) fit that category.

Don’t forget the Heritage set. Actually, the vast majority of heavy armor is like that.
Everyone complaining clearly hasn’t bothered to check the wardrobe and count.
They just look at the ones the majority of people actually use and assume they’re all like that.

If the [LGBT] guild is allowed to exist..?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Blackworm.2167

guys, you have no idea how good is to be in a guild were the word gay is not used as an insult. or where you can speak about something else besides boobs, and where women can play without being harassed with sentences like “go to the kitchen”.
or maybe i had bad encounters in prevoius “straight” guilds…

…and where women can play without being harassed with sentences like “go to the kitchen”.

The “go to the kitchen” phrase and others like it are most often used in a joking manner.
If the person in question using it means it literally though, then that’s outright rude, and I don’t endorse that at all.

Also, the word “Gay” has had many meanings over the years (one of which being “happy”, which most people seem to forget), and denoting something as “stupid” or “disagreeable” is one of them.
You have to understand the meaning of the word in its context.
If a man asked for a “f_ag” would you call him a “bigot” for wanting another cig?

Threads like this remind us that the march towards equality is not yet complete

“March Towards Equality”? That kind of wording makes the nature of it as an agenda all the more apparent (as if it couldn’t be enough already), like we all need to conform to this standard and manner of thought or else

So everyone needs to do as you say or face repercussions for even speaking out against it? That’s as totalitarian as it gets.

Blackworm.2167

You can argue that any “Pro” group is a hate group, and vice versa. You seem to be arguing with a fair deal of bias and / or preconceptions.

“The real world” isn’t very specific and only serves as anecdotal evidence in this scenario, which doesn’t hold up.
The fact of the matter is, what I said cannot be argued. A “Pro”-anything group can and will be called out as “Anti”-whatever their opposite is, oftentimes using only emotion as their reasoning.

Firstly you don’t understand how burden of proof works, secondly, while “Real world” may be a nebulous concept to you it’s actually the basis for most evidence, strangely.

Thirdly, you’re wrong. A pro anything group is obviously not automatically an anti whatever their opposite is. Groups which have bigoted, racist or prejudiced agendas however do like to hide behind the whole “But we’re just pro white people!” card (for example). Now, this is demonstrably not true for such groups, their “pro” stance happens to almost always include the aforementioned bigotry and prejudice towards other groups. Now this next part might be hard for you to grasp as it takes some comprehension of contextual factors. While it could, theoretically be possible for a pro-white group of people to exist, what exactly would they do? Have parties that only white people were invited to? Well that just crossed the line into discrimination. Perhaps they would invite people of other ethnicities? (Point to the KKK rally that does that please.) Well then we’d have to ask in what sense is this in fact pro-white, what is it that they are gathering for? Perhaps it is to support other white people who are marginalised by society? Seems unlikely. Perhaps it is to foster a safe environment for like minded (Though about what remains unknown) people? As opposed to what, the general environment?

Of course, the use of “Pro” by these groups is simply a way of justifying hate towards others, they aren’t pro white people at all, they are pro “people who share their ideology and hatred towards other races”. You can see this in the way certain white groups talk about white people who choose to have non-white spouses. That’s the real world.

Now I’ll let you go though all that again with Pro-black groups and Pro-LGBT groups, you’ll find that social context and historical context mean that a lot of those questions can now be answered and that by being pro towards one of these groups does not necessitate being anti any other group. That’s not to say that one day in the far off future the world won’t be ruled by tyrannical groups of LGBT people who deny basic human rights to heterosexual people – Then you might have a point. Pehaps then you’ll also see why context is important and why everything you say is wrong.

“Pro-White” groups tend to in fact be Anti-Black groups, and “Pro-Heteroseuxal” groups are often Anti-LGBT.

These positive claims require evidence you still haven’t provided.

Do you have a victim complex or something?
Now it just seems like you’re in denial, as evidenced by your circular-logic and double-standards.
Using your logic, I can just assume any “Pro” group that doesn’t appeal to my interests specifically is a hate group; with no rationale at all.

If you’re offended by what I say, asking you to back up your claim, you’d probably be better off not responding. Or not making claims.

Do you have any non-anecdotal evidence for this claim, and why we shouldn’t assume the same that “Pro-LGBT” groups tend to in fact be Anti-Heterosexual, and so forth?

Yes, the evidence is called the real world, you should take a look at it. Can you point out a group which describes itself as being uniquely pro-white which isn’t a hate group? Or an LGBT group which has an anti-hetero agenda?

Ironic really, the whole reason this is being discussed is because one group of people just got the right to do something that another group of people have always had the right to do. But sure lets paint LGBT groups as hetero hating hypocrites, that’ll be fun.

“Can you point out a group which describes itself as being uniquely pro-white which isn’t a hate group? Or an LGBT group which has an anti-hetero agenda?”

The burden of proof is on you, since you made the claim. I’m merely asking for evidence on the contrary, and why one shouldn’t make that assumption. So far, you haven’t given any.

You can argue that any “Pro” group is a hate group, and vice versa. You seem to be arguing with a fair deal of bias and / or preconceptions.

If he was a major NPC (or even if he’s not), and the plot calls for him to die, would you treat it as any other NPC dying, or would you be outraged how ANet killed a transgendered character? If you said yes to the latter question, then you are not ready for equality.

Ahem… I should note, you should be using ‘she’, not ‘he’ in this case. Sure, it’s just a character in a game whose feelings you couldn’t hurt, but going out of your way to use the wrong pronouns shows that you don’t really understand equality either.

A man may be transgender, but no amount of surgery is going to remove that Y chromosome or give him a menstrual cycle. He’s still biologically male and will be called as such.

Never liked that old shabby pirate look. Nice to see a fairly modern, southern city – finally feels like the fantasy MMO style I prefer.

So… like every other fantasy MMO out there?

pleaase uninstall this game if you get this up in arms about artwork of a city… I don’t login to this game (or any game) to stand around in a city, play dress up, and look at the design/artwork.

Wow, god forbid someone offer some feedback. Not everyone is like you, doesn’t mean you get to tell them what they can and can’t do with their game. Deal with it.

I know what you mean. I really loved the old LA. The way it is now is exactely the way I expected it to become and form my point of view it’s not the best one. Everything is so clean and perfect, it’s not a living city anymore but something that looks like thought out by cityplanners. It looks like a futuristic airport.

Maybe it’s just all clean now, and won’t be later on (if they decide to change things a bit)..?
I don’t know, wishful thinking perhaps.

honestly it’s just really concerning how much people will say this ‘agenda’ is being pushed down their throats and then when something subtle and progressive is implemented, they go out of their way to let everyone know how personally offended they are.

Oh, the irony.

You can’t claim false advertising if you don’t know whether or not they had this planned from the beginning. If it was planned a week ago and made official the other day, then it’s still not false advertising because they have offered the refunds already to remedy the situation. Now that whole deal is another mess entirely where I can see some of the frustration. But again, you have no proof that it was false advertising.

Say we’re playing some generic MMO, waiting outside a room filled with enemies within a raid dungeon. I’m planning all of what we’re going to do in my head, I have it all thought out. Then I suddenly rush in without warning and die.
Was it my fault I died because I didn’t say anything and just acted, or is it your fault I died because I had this all planned out already and you didn’t follow the plan?

Also, no. They did not offer refunds. More false information-spreading.

Why ask when anet gave, is giving, and will continue to give info about what’s in the expac?

That would be nice, were it actually true. It isn’t.
Unless, of course, you think silence is golden.

This happened:

Hey, remember the reddit post with the help for recent buyer of GW2.
Guess what ?
Here; their answer to people asking for help.

HoT and GW2 are worth it imho

Thread title is baiting.

Look the expansion first of all is worth the $50 and the vet or current players are not getting robbed.

Nice empty claims. Do you have any evidence that it’s “worth the $50”? No, of course you don’t.

Knowing the content of the core game which is (rather, was) worth $50, and comparing it to the content revealed for HoT, I can say it is most definitely not worth $50. More around $25-$30.

Current players aren’t getting robbed?
Tell that to my missing $50 I spent on a $0 game. We pay $100, new players pay $50 for the same content. Yeah, totally fair. /s

I don’t feel it was a ‘bait-and-switch’ tactic, but I also do not care to debate it on the forums. If you feel it was, that is your business, and none of mine.

Hate to burst your bubble, but we have the evidence that they lied and pulled a bait & switch with their FAQ. Even newer players bought GW2 in anticipation for HoT, rightly believing they would need it to play HoT (as per the FAQ that was later changed obscurely).
You’re welcome to believe it never happened, but don’t go around pretending your opinion is fact. Denial gets you nowhere, and it’s intellectually dishonest.

Well it is worthless as of right now, the emotional value is completely separate form the monetary value which is in fact 0$. (because you can’t profit off of the account, if something holds no profit then the monetary value is 0$)

Don’t really see how you could misunderstand the argument when you pretty much just explained mine right there.
Something I paid $50 (as everyone else should have to, as per the FAQ) for, with $50 worth of content, has been devalued to $0.
And as you said, the emotional value is separate from the monetary value.
I would like a monetary return.

I think a better comparison would be:

You buy new locks for your car doors, and they charge the price of the entire car for it, but you get the car along with it, unless you already had a car, but either way you pay full price. Also, you need to buy a deluxe edition of the car locks if you also want the keys to the car.

The car is a free gift :^)

Not really a “Free gift” when it’s included in the price.
And you can’t sell or give away the extra copy of GW2 (which we already bought) that comes with HoT.

(Unless of course, you were being sarcastic. In which case, /laugh)

Character Slot for Heart of Thorns? [Merged]

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Blackworm.2167

There’s no way the core game is “free” for 50 friggin dollars. GW1 expansions were 29.99, were a complete game, added 2 classes with skills, and added a character slot.

This is ridiculous.

Actually those were stand alone games, the only true expansion EOTN came without character slots.

HoT is a functional standalone now as it comes with GW2 which we already payed for. With less than half the content of the GW1 standalones.
Including the character slot.
For the same price.
That makes it even more of a joke / insult now.

Yo if you like challenging dungeons and stuff like that. WILDSTAR. I got a spare key.

They actually have a specific dungeon that teaches you how to run dungeons. Part by part. Broken down.

Literally
part 1. Ok this is boss interrupt boss
part 2. ok this is boss. now he will start attacking.
part 3. ok this is boss. He will attack and now the room will go batcrap insane.
part4. Parts 1-3 but now we have adds to manage.
part 5. parts 1-5 but harder.
part 6. YOOOOOOLLLOOOOOOO

These are wildstar dungeons have fun!

The movement isnt as fluid as gw2 but its pretty close and they share quite a few mechanics. oh and https://youtu.be/YbItL4qcugk

Off topic, and I don’t mean to rain on your parade or anything but… I saw Wildstar pre-beta, and thought it was pretty cool looking.
As beta rolled around, I found out I couldn’t play the race I liked on the faction I liked. No big deal I guess… WoW’s like that.
Then I found out it was P2P. In 2015. That killed off any desire I had to play it.

Nowadays I hear the public opinion is that it’s just… “bad.”

Take that as you will, but that’s been my experience.

Awesome.

I actually got more positive feedback then I expected. I cant be salty at arenanet though. They have done a great job with this game and have provided me with countless hours of fun. so I will keep my eye on the HoT. But as of now, I rather leave with the last bit of dignity that I have for this game.

You can still play GW1. I still do.
It’s a great game, free from all this non-transparency and shady business tactics.
Either way, best of luck to you.

1) Why do they owe u a Character slot for free? What have u done they makes u so Deserving?..

Your argument makes no sense. I’m a customer. It’s a financial transaction. If I feel I’m being hit up twice for the same product, I’ll think twice.

Just as a heads-up, the person you’re refuting is already rather… out-of touch with reality, as he has proven in another thread. He doesn’t actually understand the argument, yet attempts to argue it anyway, like many others here do.

OP: It’s feelgood PR and damage-control. That’s all it is. As much as I’d like it to mean something, it doesn’t.

its the same price as a 1 year old Expansion in a P/P game, sorry but its a Normal reasonable price…. People just feel like things should be free, devs need to eat too.

Way to completely misinterpret the argument and replace it with a strawman of your own.
