Nobody cares about the forums. Everyone that wants to play the game is doing so. People just come here to complain.
edit: fatal error while trying to post just a second ago and lost what i was posting. that was annoying.
anyway, tl;dr, i was saying you get your money’s worth for this game and i appreciate what i have received. i’m not a fanboy and dont care about the lore, but i like the gameplay.
these threads and the people leaving the game have nothing to do with the game’s makers silence. i’d be willing to bet that less than 5% of the entire player base have even read the forums for more than a thread or two, let alone pay attention to how much the devs post.
lol – the amount of legendaries around already means that they are too easy to attain. almost every 1/20 ppl have a legend of some sort.
most ppl r just grinding the gold and buying them…..
either it’s the server you’re on or just your perception, but i’m willing to bet the active population wielding legendaries is not 1 in 20. anyone that has enough time to grind that much gold is not what i would consider casual, in the sense of time able to play the game. people that have that amount of time is not in the majority of the game’s players.
might i add that, if the ratio 1/20 have a legendary of some sort, we are talking about 5% of the population having a legendary. across 20,000 players that’s only 1000 players with legendaries. it really tends to alienate your average player that he’ll never be able to attain a legendary. alienation leads to disgruntled players, which doesn’t speak well for the culture of the game itself.

Despite this being a 3 month old thread, I’m sure there are some people who still agree with higher goals required for a legendary. However, I’m also glad to see others that do not agree with this.
I read this last night, but couldn’t respond due to my location, computer, and network I was using. That’s a good thing, though, considering I had an evening to think about what I’d say regarding the topic. Over the last month I’ve hardly been able to play, and I’ve been having to play single player games. I still don’t have the time to play GW2 as of this moment, but I might be able to soon.
With that said, I can’t imagine a game developer that would expect his game’s patrons to play his game and only his game. Yes, legendaries should be somewhat prestigious and tougher to achieve than most other gear, relatively speaking. I was one of those players that from the beginning said they’d never make a legendary, but I gave in after finishing map completion and obtaining a precursor. It was a lot of work, and took me the better part of 2 weeks once I began to focus on making it. In my opinion, the requirements are already high enough to ensure the majority of players, being mostly casual, will not make one. Not to mention, prices for precursors and legendaries would increase tremendously. Don’t make this game so time consuming that it excludes an even higher percentage of players from having the most exotic-looking gear. In the end, that just alienates more and more people from playing.
I do believe they need a bunch more legendaries to choose from for the sake of diversity. This might also drive prices down some. I really feel this game should be more about fun and not so much the grind. … just my 2 cents.
i agree. we should be able to craft lesser versions of items if they’re going to make ascended versions, including lesser quality back pieces. why can’t we craft breathing masks of varying quality while we’re on the topic?

With Anet nerfing the event timers and the loot tables in Orr it has made it un-fun. It’s sad that they’ve made their game less fun in places. I guess new players will not know the difference, but for those of us that do it presents disappointment.
Also, their nerfing hasn’t stopped the bots. I’ve been to several different servers and seen the same type of looping bots running through Cursed Shores.
I don’t feel like I expect too much from them as developers, but when they constantly change things in the game where many people used to congregate and have fun, it’s hard to find nice things to say.
My first level 80 took maybe 2 weeks while mixing in some alts along the way. I had all 8 of my 80’s, of each class available, to max within another couple of months. I’d say the leveling is just right.
I think the game and the state its in is more appealing to new players, which also equates more profits. Anyone entering the game currently is more than likely overwhelmed with the content, as was I when I started last xmas.
And while some of the changes to the game (teq specifically) are not appealing to me, I feel the amount of content that I originally paid for has been quite substantial.
In my opinion, I think that many people expect this game to keep giving way more than it should. With that said, I think they shouldn’t tinker with original content and only add on top of it. That’s been my only gripe with the game’s development or the endgame content.
There really should be something..just think a few days from now when most people have all their achieves how hard it will be to get through that final event.
Karka Queen event and Tequatl, all over again.
Hmm, I haven’t even played it yet, but with that quick synopsis I probably won’t even try. Thanks (seriously)
You have to transfer through the bank.
Teq! Larger than life…
Does he just hang out on your server too?
He’s one cool kitten.
Edit: Hmm, well… this post was made as a thread about this mighty dragon never being killed on my server, but I guess the moderators thought a discussion about it never getting done anymore on my server should be categorized with someone asking if it it is still being done. Go figure they do not want a discussion occurring about how little their new content gets completed these days. GG

I don’t think they even want to address all the complaints this year about Halloween. Their ideas about Halloween and the player’s are totally different. Profit is the main goal for them while ours is fun. I can’t really fault them for wanting to make profits, but increasing the total population playing the game seems to me the best way to increase profit.
Obviously, many disliked this year’s Halloween event compared to last year. Of course, many of us hadn’t even gotten the game so many didn’t even get to experience last year’s content. It really is a downer to hear how good it was, and to see so little this year. It didn’t even feel like Halloween in game unless you went to Lion’s Arch. I guess I expected there to be more skins that made it feel more Halloweiny.
Not to mention the grind or expense needed for the weapon skins such as The Crossing. Holy kitten Batman! I’m extremely disappointed with this, and I realize the game is just a game. However, I will keep playing it because nothing else has tempted me lately. It just seems they could have brought more people into the game by making more skins, repeating last years content while adding more, and increasing Halloween drops in general.
I can only guess that the changes made or the lack thereof were somehow tied to their bottom line and how much time and effort they were willing to put into Halloween. It could be even a matter of how much they’re willing to put into gw2 itself.
I suggest they go ahead and release the ascended armor. Let the market’s stabilizing begin so that we can make it sometime before the major holidays ahead. Money gets tight for the holidays, and they might make more if they launch earlier rather than later. A lot of retailers are doing this very thing this year to get a jump on profits.
It just makes you wonder what’s going through their heads, considering this pushes people away and doesn’t attract more people to the game.
There has to be more incentive for people to keep playing. It would seem to me that the happier the regular player base is the more people will be attracted to the game over time.
Same here. I cannont log my main character, and crash report sent.
edit: After the boss chest despawned I could log my character again.

The “prestige” that people get from having these weapons that require so many materials is for the people with deep pockets or all the time in the world. Even the latter might have trouble making one of these weapons.
Up until recently I had the excess time to maybe work for one of these weapons of “prestige,” but now I do not. Admittedly, I have a legendary that I worked for, but can’t see putting the amount of effort/cost into a Halloween weapon. Most games have an abundance of holiday gear to make it more festive and not making it an exclusive type content. I could only imagine what it would be like for the person that still likes to game but doesn’t have the funds to buy gems due to having children/wives/responsibilities that won’t allow it.
No love for the average player when it comes to these weapons of “prestige.”
Hey at least I can log in and still see the complaining about the derailing of the champ train in queensdale every day.
You know, it would be nice to just get an ArenaNet “I’ve read this”.
I wasn’t asking for more.
From what I’ve seen, they usually do not respond to complaint threads. Rarely they respond to them, but mostly they delete them.
I’ve done hardly any of the Halloween content, and quite frankly don’t care anymore. I guess I care just enough to make this post that will possibly be deleted (like several of my other disappearing posts lately). I think anet would be happy if the complainers just went silent. I don’t really think they care, honestly.
T kettle is not 15 minutes of fun
Amethyst Rose, I can assure you that your sentiment is shared in more ways than one.
As to all the people that like the content: have fun with it.
They are breeding disdain deleting threads where people are discussing the dislike for Teq and the decisions of the developers, so I dunno whether this thread will remain.
The facts speak for themselves that the majority doesn’t enjoy the change.
This should have been a new dragon or boss. Why, after a year, did they make already existing content harder? Why wouldn’t they make new permanent bosses that are more challenging, while making the game broader? Why wouldn’t they add to the appeal the game already has?
yeah, make teq harder…. YEAH!
The problem with this is if I can sell skins that I don’t want, then putting them as part of the achievement skins means I can never sell them.
We are referring to the skins obtained through achievements which are not sell-able. e.g. the new Sunless Wings.
I mentioned this to a guildie just last night that it would be nice to have. It seems sort of silly for them to implement the achievement skin repository for only achievement tier skins considering how few there are. What would be the logic against us not being able to use the other achievement skins more than once?
I guess they have done a good job on these new bots then, and I should be grateful they’re escaping so many’s attention.
I detected the human-less behavior while running events and grinding. After googling simply “gw2 bot” I was able to confirm what I was seeing. It looks like the person is just grinding away, and could even be running right next to you to the next mob.
Upon these first replies I’m guessing many have no idea, and I should just ignore it.
OK, a question to the community at large:
Should we just ignore all the bots in the game?
I’m seeing them constantly these days. I realized that they were botting long before I investigated whether I was seeing things or not. The truth is there are several bots to make your character look like an average person grinding away at the game, as if you were actually playing the game.
I have to pause every time I see one just out of curiosity to make sure I’m seeing what I’m seeing. So many times these days I am seeing bot after bot. It’s hard to tell if the ones I’ve reported have been banned, or have just lost interest in the game and stopped playing. Why I say this is because some have not been banned and have been reported longer than any so far on my blocked list (that’s to keep up with whether they’re gone or not).
Now, some may say I’m overly obsessing about this, and I’m not inclined to disagree with that assessment. If I thought I was reporting in vain I wouldn’t bother with it.
So, my question stands; should I even care or just ignore the many bots I’m seeing? Does it bother any of you that there are so many people botting gw2? Do you think it impacts the game or feel it reduces your enjoyment?
I ask this because I feel like giving up on the issue and just ignoring them altogether. On the flip side, if I knew I was making a difference I would continue reporting them.
For anyone just starting to play GW2 the controls may take some getting used to. Many will not be completing some jump puzzles or vistas right from the beginning, however with time and practice maneuvering gets easier and easier.
I figure many have trouble at the start because they don’t dodge enough. Once you realize it’s an easy counter to a lot of mobs’ attacks, fighting random mobs will be a bit easier too. I remember encountering my first veteran mob thinking it wouldn’t be that hard, but it took me several minutes to kill it.
Like any new game you play it has a learning curve, but in my opinion GW2 is not as hard as some others. Dungeons, however, almost require you to be level 80 if you want to be effective and not die constantly (even if the dungeons level is much lower).
Does anyone know the most overplayed profession? I would probably say Warrior or Guardian.
Not exactly sure. By FAR the least overplayed class is the Monk. I have yet to see one in Guild Wars 2. (Had the game since launch)
I guess people don’t like being a healer and doing little to none DPS. It’s a shame.
Maybe I should role a Monk…
by your own logic you are shameful since you haven’t made a monk yet.
Let me preface this with how much I hate dungeons. However, I’ve only ever been in pugs that have been patient and cordial. A few times someone would become impatient and leave, but by and large my experiences have been quite the opposite of the OP.
I just can’t get over how much I personally dislike the linear clustermuck most dungeons are imo. The people I have had the pleasure of running with almost made it bearable.
I have been having similar since the patch, including long, never-ending loading screens, disconnects during loading, and screen going black while playing. Lost out on a couple of world bosses because of this so far, as well as landing in overflow because game restart needed after not loading map.
Mind you, I’ve never had these issue prior to the patch.
I’ve got several on my blocked list that have been going at it for days without end. They never leave their respective zones, not even for the events. These people are gold farmers, lazy, and have little respect for any other gamers. They get so much so easily that they can undersell everyone on the market. They reduce everyone’s efforts that is playing legitimately.
One only has to google “gw2 bot” to find a plethora of avenues for this behavior that erodes legitimate players’ fun and the rewards attained from playing this game. When will we see this trend curbed?
Thanks for the heads up. Maybe I’ll be able to finish this after all.
I have the same problem. There’s now only 1 or 2 players in the pavilion on my server. If I knew what server might have more people in it I might guest there, but there’s no way of knowing. If I had known that this would end up this way I would have camped in the pavilion and grinded the bosses until I finished with this achievement.
I’m sort of on the fence about all the content, however, I just figured out that I can’t finish the Queen Jubilee’s achievements because I have to do some dungeon first (I hate dungeons).
WvW is ridicioulus aswell….
Pure manpower decides the outcome of a match, and nightcoverage
I’ve said this time and time again in matchup threads, where people argue that skill decides it. Population ( WvW coverage) is the key to whether a server will do well or not. I think it would be hard to devise a system that allowed a more skillful server to win unless some sort of population cap or map population balance were in place.
/off topic
Doesn’t even require semi-decent players.
“THAIF!! RAN RAAN!!! WEIT WE 5 PPL, KILL THAIF SMASH SMASH SMASH WER IS THAIF?!?!? OH NOO DOWNED APPLEVEL, WEIT WER IS THAIF?!? BETTER RESS QUICKLIE, WATT IS DIS?!?! BLIND!?!? SMASH SMASH HAHAHAH DEDD THAIF!!!! /laugh /laugh /laugh /sit”
logging GW2 forum
“O MY GAD, THAIF OP!! ARINA NET PLISS NURF, HE KIL APPLEVEL 1v5”And yeah, I find D/D as a broken weaponset as well it’s limited to #1 #2 and #5 and 4 way too situational. It requires a bit more skill than D/P but at the same time there are situations where D/D perform better than D/P.
i just had to say how hard i laughed when i read this. funny stuff…
1. Cursed Shores/Fields of Gold (Almonia escort)
2. Borlis Pass (NA)
3. 8/15/13 2:25 AM CT
Some of the names I’m seeing constantly. This time was pretty weird. The escort started and I was first on the scene. Players started coming through to fight and it was tough with most of them going down repeatedly. None of them were ressing each other, but would come back and run right into the middle of the fray. After all the enemies had been killed, Almonia and her crew were all dead needing to be revived. The players just stood there, and then all at once began running away from the event. None stayed to res Almonia and see the event through. I see these names time and time again. It might take someone watching one of these bots a little while to pick up on it, but they are definitely there.
Some might ask; what’s the complaint, you’re getting help right? The problem is the event scales to a higher power because of more people, but without the human element helping it doesn’t go well. It really ruins the game for me and I’m sure others. Also, knowing I’m playing and they just let the computer do it all for them, reaping the rewards of the grind.
This is pretty disappointing considering there are botters running rampant everywhere. I’ve been reporting them, but they still haven’t been banned. They aren’t serious about stopping the gold sellers before they have the gold; that’s for sure.
I usually do not like to whine about games on forums, however in this case it happens to be so annoying to have once played the game in a better state. My guild used to run dungeons regularly, and then you guys made it where we couldn’t use the waypoints when party members are in combat. My guildies got fed up with the new system, because some dungeons became time sinks that became near impossible.
Now, I’m left to join public groups to gain access to content you have made even harder to attain. You’ve made some content only available through dungeons, and some dungeons are no fun. I’m just so disappointed and frustrated I was compelled to make this thread.
I understand some players are naturals at this type of gameplay and it becomes too easy for them, but dungeon gear can’t be traded/sold so it’s not like it ruins the market. To this day, I can’t understand why you guys changed it. Your original press release about it didn’t explain it well enough, in my opinion.
The challenge is too great for many of us, even when we use Google to find how others managed it. I just spent 4 hours of my life with a group trying to kill the Nightmare Tree in Twilight Arbor (lvl 55 dungeon HA). We tried many configurations, changing skills, tactics, class mixes, and/or gear mixes to no avail. It was very, very disappointing to leave with no bloody Blooms. (ok, so i got 9 from the chests, but i need 500) Do you really expect us to grind the same content for months?
My question to you, Anet, is Why? Why did you make it so hard that many would deem it not worth the trouble? You’re pushing people away from your game’s content with that decision. This thread is so belated because I’ve just stayed away from dungeons since the change, and only until recently have I desired something that requires such frustrating circumstances.
I’ll give no apologies for such a long rant. It is what it is.
They are taking turns flipping the quaggans allies to farm wxp and standard xp.
They weren’t working the node. They were well below it, from what I could tell, killing each other in a controlled manner. However, all the allies from my server were dead, and the 2 enemy were alive and not moving when I came upon them.
OK, I edited the op for reference. I’m guessing there may be leveling services, or people selling characters leveled to 80, and also leveled in WvW. This occurred in WvW. That’s why I put it in this forum.
(edited by Brindled.2179)
The other day I saw a group of my server’s players being farmed by one of the other servers. There were about 4 of our players tightly grouped in the water below the central weather node in one of those little quaggan homes being killed by 2 of the opposite server. They were all uplevels less than lvl 10.
I proceeded to kill the 2 enemies and revive my allies. Shortly after that, a third enemy lvl 2 player came to revive the 2 that were killing the 4, and this player totally ignored me. I then asked what was going on, and if he was part of this exploitation/character farming. He began to attack me, and of course I killed him. After that, they all logged.
It smelled of character leveling/wxp farming, but I figured I’d ask the forums if anyone might know what was occurring. Again, has anyone seen this behavior, and if so what were they doing?
I took some screens of it, but I’m aware of the rules about posting other players in such a case.
(edited by Brindled.2179)
Wouldn’t auto looting be the best solution? Considering, no one wants to leave loot. There may be times you need to sort your inventory before looting to make room, but if it were made to be an option it could be turned on or off depending on one’s needs.
Alot of people who bandwagoned away BP are surprised to see us. Its okay.
So I guess going to a server that was 1 tier ahead at the time means jumping on the bandwagon? Oh my, I forgot that I signed a contract with BP that said I was to stay on the server no matter what.
I guess going to a higher tier server was the thing to do. One’s ego can play tricks on what we think is reality, and how we perceive others.
There’s really not that much chest thumping going on, but I guess you’re right. It is your opinion.
Now if someone is trying to play during oceanic against the SoS horde… that probably sucks a bit.
It probably wouldn’t have been so bad had ebay not been pestering us the whole time we were trying to defend. But, yeah, 2v1 is WvW akittens < [at its] best.
edit: that’s some awful filtering there, Anet
(edited by Brindled.2179)
closing remarks of this match: WFD is trash guild get dominated by 5 all day plz
i pictured this guy saying it.
It was CD who unfortunately decided the second place server of this matchup.
It appears that may be the case. However, how would it have looked had CD focused BP the whole week so that Ebay could’ve taken 2nd? How would it have looked for the 9th place server to attack mainly the 14th server while the 10th place server took advantage of it?
I can tell you CD would still have won, and you guys would take 2nd while we would have whined the whole time. We would have whined that CD took the easy way out.
But, I’d like to put forth the question to CD; which server was in your border lands the most?
That answer should speak volumes as to who deserved 2nd.
Also, I’d like to point out that all my earlier frustrations in the week were because I mainly defend BP’s bl, and rarely go elsewhere unless there’s a queue. And although I gained over 10 ranks this week, it was a constant struggle until last night.
Thanks, to all those players that played with honor and respect for their fellow players, both allies and foes.
i’d like to see both, the 9th placed server and the 10th placed server, fight each other more, and fight the 14th placed server less. But, we know that ain’t gonna happen cause ya scared.
SCAREDY KITTENS! SCAREDY KITTENS!
Scared? No. Are they an unknown to us? Yes.
Besides we missed you Borlis. We just needed to show you how much we missed you with our Axes and swords in your back. The hell with the other people.
Personally, I’m fine with us getting our kitten kicked. Anything that gets us further away from the T2 Servers in ratings is good IMO.
I won’t disagree that BP Got demoralized coming in 2nd place for all those times, and I"m glad to see you guys are gaining strength again, but don’t go around thinking you only lost due to your belief you were getting double teamed. Your server has its issues and its loudmouths just like Ebay does. Just all of ours haven’t been banned yet.
lol, well said.
So let me get this right.. You come here whining about not being able to take North Camp from a group of Ebay? And this means we are afraid to attack CD? Interesting logic!
actually, you got it wrong. you guys ARE scared to take on cd. the map this weekend shows that pretty much in detail. right this very second the map shows the proof. we’ve had blue and green in our map the whole weekend with queues. it’s pretty obvious that if cd didn’t focus us we’d be 2nd and actively on their heels (in their bl). they can see it.
the whole reason you guys did so well against us when we were grouped with anvil was because anvil focused us instead of ebay. our server got tired of being double teamed, and many stopped showing up in wvw. now that we are doing better weekly, more people have been helping in wvw.
good thing we’ll go back to tier 5 at the end of this week. the servers we’ve been battling have been great sports. so many bows each day of our confrontation. all we get from ebay is laughs when zergs roll over small groups or even singles. i’ve seen little of that behavior from cd. even our match-up posts were only trolled be ebayers acting up. you guys really do house a lot of egos and unsportmanlike players. i’m sure it will rub off with our players imitating you more and more.
