Ok, so maybe I need some additional information here. I’ve never asked for a guild/group to pick me before so I’m not sure what you’re exactly looking to see (and I don’t exactly see an outline to follow).

I primarily play tempest ele with d/f (just like the pvp meta) in my pve zerker gear. I use her for fast flips of objectives. I like to start in air to use swirling winds and the overload as my openers. NPCs melt like butter. Against players I try to start in air as well, usually so I can use swirling winds and I follow that up with popping aura, gust, and overload before swapping attunements.

On the flip side I like to play necro. It’s got a bit more sustain compared to my zerker ele. My pve gears are vipers, but I do put on a soldier’s set for wvw. My ele doesn’t have an additional set of armor to use (yet). I run sc/wh + staff. I like to use gs and offhand dagger, but I’ve found the most success with the other weapons. At least two skills on my bar are shouts (rise and suffer), my heal is always consume conditions, I will sometimes use locust signet for crossing the map, if I know I’m going to be in combat a lot I will sometimes take blood signet (the one that increases power but does conditions when activated) or spectral armor. My elite will either be the minion or the shout. My build is similar to the pvp meta build.

At the present I enjoy solo roaming, but I’m looking for either a guild specializing in roaming/havoc groups or even a smaller guild that roams together. I don’t like zergs. I don’t like zerg fights. I do occasionally like to push for Stonemist or other keeps, but I really don’t like big group fights. Commanders seem to get stuck beating their heads on something they can’t win and I get bored rushing into the same bloodbath while getting nowhere.

I have 14 level 80s, 4 of which are permanently retired. Of late I play elementalist, necromancer, and druid the most, but I do play my guard on request or if I feel a need to bring her somewhere. I also like to play my warrior and rev, but I’m not as good at “pvp” combat with them yet. I have two mesmers who are semi-retired (I’m not a fan of chronomancer, sorry not sorry). I have a thief who is in mothballs as well because I’m just not good at playing her period. (The four retired classes, for those wondering, are: ranger, thief, warrior, and necro. They are retired because they are races I found I didn’t like playing, but the toons are old and have maxed out crafts on them.)

Let’s see, of the nine professions, I have nine sets of ascended armor and a multitude of ascended weapons. I have two legendary weapons with the ability to make more, just not inclined to do so at the present. I am working towards The Ascension legendary backpiece earned via pvp season achievements and just need to reach the next division to finish it. All of the armors I own (ascended) are set up for pve use, with the exception of my guardian’s armor, and I am not interested in changing the stats or runes on any of them to meet a specific build requirement. However, if it is required that I obtain a new set of armor, I am willing to make it.

I am willing to duel anyone willing to test my skill either on a Borderland, EOTM, or in a pvp arena. I would like to warn everyone reading this that I do have a handicap at the present. I am playing on a Surface Pro 3 tablet (the one with the i5 core, I couldn’t afford the i7). I do make mistakes. Sometimes I lag because the tablet can’t handle it. I can’t see telegraphs for skills in wvw because I do play on the lowest settings. (Can we get standard character model option for wvw, please anet?) I would like to say, in my own defense, that despite the limitation of my hardware, I’m not that bad of a player.

Title says it all. I am currently on Sorrow’s Furnace but very willing to transfer (help mitigating that cost would be appreciated).

At the present I do solo roaming on a zerker tempest ele for fast solo flips of minor objectives and occasionally manage to kill someone. For my more serious solo roaming I typically snag my necro (esp if I anticipate running into players more often).

I am a four year veteran to gw and I’ve held dragon rank in pvp for over a year (I earned that rank). I still pvp some, not doing too bad this season, but I’m only in it for the Ascension. :P I was formerly on Yak’s Bend for the WvW tournaments and on Anvil Rock prior to that.

Can we add a “standard characters model” for WvW just like Anet did in PvP? Due to circumstances I have to play on the lowest settings and it’s impossible to read player skill telegraphs because they don’t show up on the lowest quality setting.

Thief is always good, though they are glassy. They are good for picking off targets and with care can flip a camp on their own. I have a preference for necro and ele myself, running the PvP builds with them (though in my pve gear).

However, pvt armor + sinister trinkets and viper/dire weapons aren’t so bad on Necro. I won a 2v1 with a condi ranger and an engi the other day and even killed a “pu” condi mesmer a couple times. With ele I typically need a partner, because my armor is zerker/marauder mix with scholar runes. Necro has a harder time flipping things faster, but can more easily survive and win in player vs player fights. The ele is better at flipping objectives, but has a harder time in player fights.

At the moment I roam on Sorrow’s Furnace, though I was once on Yak’s Bend for two years. Prior to HoT I enjoyed mesmer, but if you go with mesmer, pick up a thief as your partner. They are a strong pair.

Obsidian Sanctum still feels like a viable solution. It’s part of the main wvw, so people can still sit there for their tickers. It isn’t a main map, so people wouldn’t be “cluttering” a queue. You also almost never see someone in the JP. I went through it a couple days ago just because and didn’t see a single soul.

Sometimes the finger slips and hits the wrong key. Sometimes I hit it out of self-preservation because it’s an interrupt. Sometimes I hit it to give me a second to ress or get a skill back from cd. Sometimes I hit it forgetting that I’m on my mesmer, for a change.

=) Just be polite when you point out that you had multiple AoEs there and it does no good to have the mobs knocked out of them. Newer players/mesmers will appreciate the advice, usually, and if people get salty you’re “telling them how to play,” then just don’t worry about it. You can’t help those people. They’ll get kicked from parties until they learn how to play correctly or end up meeting an elitist who’ll tear their head off with their bare hands and mount it on a pike while screaming like a barbarian warlord. So, one way or another, people will figure it out, or not, and will only be able to play with the people who can tolerate them.

You’re hilarious blaming Desert BL as the sole cause for people quitting the game. You realize people quit playing because the game gets stale, even WvW. Some people I know only play for PvP or WvW or PvE. I enjoy all of the content, but it gets boring. Moreover players get upset when their favorite classes get wrecked every other patch. They get tired of being jerked around and having to learn new classes or relearn their mains.

HoT added a great many things to the game. New story content, new maps, new armor/weapon stats, new traitlines, new skills… the newness changed a lot of things. It changed the meta. They’ve been balancing the power of the classes, but it’s still a wreck.

I only see queues for EB sometimes in the evenings and all of the maps generally have a queue on reset night, maybe Saturday.

So Anet, as you can see, there have been several suggestions on where you could “move” the crafting stations. Removing them wasn’t your best idea.

It’s been a while since the OMFG tag has popped up here, I know.

A newer player has joined the guild, but is unfortunately (for me) on the EU servers, so the majority of players I could suggest will be of little practical help.

I would like someone from an EU server to mentor them. They have a preference for WvW/PvP and want to get better at 1v1s. The build they want to use is here. They are looking for feedback on the build, alternate options, and practice duels.

There’s HoT alternate for Dire, much like Vipers, but with the base Dire stats instead.

Trailblazer’s is the name, but it requires the Maguuma Lily which is one of the more expensive “gems” now from the new maps.

I’m sorry you haven’t gotten to enjoy that experience of randomly meeting and chatting with someone new while playing.

I never said that. I randomly meet people every day doing map events and running instances.

Yeah, an increase in some cities, but not necessarily all… So what? There’s still going to be an increase so why bother splitting hairs about where? Grove, RS, and LA are a fine enough spread if that’s all it winds up being.

Because, obviously, several people don’t want that. Increasing populations in certain cities increases loading times and lag when passing through. Of course if Anet wants to optimize the cities, that would be helpful too, but that’s probably asking too much.

Players like a lot of things… and for some people playing MMOs it includes getting to know other players to see if you will like them. There’s plenty of convenience still in the game, and still plenty of convenience for crafting.

That is heavily debatable. It’s very easy to get to know people without being shucked into certain corners of the map because “Anet said so.”

No one said they’re controlling or choosing how you socialize… i said it’s promoting the opportunity/option as a side effect of the decision. Chill. Optimism can be something to practice now and then… I highly recommend it over paranoia and raging.

Except that they are controlling the where and how. You can use whatever pretty term you want for it, but by forcing people into major cities or other maps where stations are available (which are few and far between) you create more problems for those locations and unnecessary time/resources spent getting to them. Some places are hard to reach in the game. Not everyone wants to spend time going somewhere or doing something only to have to waypoint out and then slog their way back in.

It’s not paranoia or rage to disagree with both you and the choice Anet has made in this regard. My optimism for Anet disappeared two years ago.

Since the crafting stations are gone, no guildie is going to say that…. so your scenario is moot. Also, no one would go to WvW without at least asking the general question of “what is WvW?” People stepping in there have some idea of what it’s about, even if it’s only a vague idea.

My scenario is not moot. You just fail to visualize it properly. Not all new players know what it is about unless they’ve looked into it or had someone explain it to them. My first explanation of WvW was an awful one and enough to keep me from exploring that aspect of the game the first 6-8mnths I played.

The decision promotes players to play WvW while in WvW… that’s undeniable. To think it’s going to cripple the WvW community because WvW players will be playing WvW is just delusional.

The Provisioner does not supply top of the line food or oils/stones/crystals.

Items for WvW are expensive, both to buy and to craft. Buying everything is not always feasible.

Having the crafting stations on hand allowed players the ability to craft something needed while in the WvW maps participating in WvW. This includes but is not limited to food, utility items, armors, and weapons.

Crafting stations also allowed permanent access to bank if the Garrison was not owned or upgraded and EB was queued.

They also allow access to material storage to donate or return items to a guild member providing “feast” type food for the duration of a “raid.”

So please, quality of life degraded for WvW and has no way improved the GW community on a whole by forcing players to go else to take care of things like crafting, inventory management, etc. Now, logically, if you want to keep arguing this, they can put the stations somewhere else (like Obsidian Sanctum), or allow us to temporarily save a location to return to within a set time limit and on a cool down, or even allow us to craft where we stand since we do have the option to see our crafting professions within our hero panels.

Once upon a time in the land of Tyria long, long ago, you had to pay to change your traits. Not only did you have to pay to change them, but you had to go and speak to an NPC in a major city to do so. Then the almighty Anet gods in their wisdom decided to add an item to the gemstore that would allow you to retrait from wherever you were (one time use only). But, after some deliberation, the Anet gods changed their minds yet again. Now we no longer need to go to a city or pay a fee to change our traits, nor do we need a gemstore item. (I still have one of those in my bank.)

Ymmv, but I’ve struck up multiple conversations with players that started with a single compliment from one of us on how the other’s character is outfitted…. conversations I wouldn’t have had, nor started, had I not been standing next to them.

Personally, I don’t have that option, so I really only notice people when they talk and I only turn up my graphics if a friend has run up and gone “ermagawd looket my shinies!” I have done so in the past, when I could play on a PC, but I rarely lingered.

It’s not about making the game look more populated… that’s a sad and cynical perspective… it’s about making sure people are going to WvW to play WvW now it’s becoming popular again. Simultaneously it’ll get more peeps together at the various towns because of crafting.

Except that perspective is kind of true. I really miss having three locations to craft in LA. During the post-Scarlet destruction after we moved back in from the Vigil Keep and Priory everyone was spread out at different locations and that helped reduce some of the loading (which is a turn off for many people). It also had people seeing different areas of the city. I almost never see people anywhere other than the main crafting/banking/tp area of LA and maybe down by the WvW/PvP/Fractal gates. No one explores or spreads out.

Another point to make, is that someone once posted that certain racial home cities were more convenient for crafting because of the locations of the stations in relation to the TP. They had it timed (in seconds) how long it took a player to reach the TP from the crafting stations with The Grove and Rata Sum having the best times and Hoelbrak having the worst. So you really won’t see an increased population across all of the cities just because they want to craft. The highest I ever see the Hoelbrak population is when there’s a Shiverpeaks gathering daily and people offer their home instances.

Players like convenience. We don’t like each other unless we like each other.

Many people might already socialize as much as they are going to for now, but it can’t increase or change if the opportunities aren’t there. New players might take more advantage of this opportunity than older players, but that doesn’t mean older players can’t/won’t.

And why should Anet control how we choose to “socialize.” This is an MMO, not a dictatorship. I do frequently answer questions when I pass through a town or on an open map. I’ve been here long enough I’m basically an in game Wiki for the game. We have plenty of opportunities already to socialize without the loss of the WvW stations.

On the flip side, what’s to say that some “random PvEer” steps into WvW for the first time because a guildie mentions the stations there are convenient and happen to see the map/team chatter thus piquing their curiosity and engaging them in WvW? So one could just as easily say that by removing the crafting stations Anet has also crippled their WvW community.

“Most” of the people actually want them around according to the polls and most stuff I’m reading.

No. The correct conclusion is that most of the people (I’d say roughtly 70 percent) who stopped playing because of DBL when HoT was released, have never come back, hence the recent poll result.

I honestly stopped going to WvW as a solo roamer when the Desert BLs were released. It was only once I joined a WvW guild that I went more often. The BL is a bit confusing and overwhelming (in the same sense that EotM is confusing the first 10 times you run through it). It’s a complex map. Once I got to know the map better I liked it, but I did need people to guide me (the first 100 times).

It was a necessary change. The random pve players that just come in the use the crafting stations, are consider WvW players just stepping into citadel for just using them then leave a few minutes later to going back to pveing, those players cause the server population influx of being full status or very highly etc.

If that truly is the reason for this change, to fix their WvW population statistics, maybe they should instead rethink their method of gathering said statistics. Counting just the number of people porting into WvW for a valid population gauge is probably the worst possible way to judge a server’s WvW population.

And people who come from PvE to use the crafting stations also WvW and even if they don’t stay on that particular day to WvW. PvE is my preferred section of the game, but I do PvP and WvW. Also keep in mind that’s it not just PvEers who come in to use the stations. WvWers also use them. I’ve seen my guildies stop to poke their noses in them (for something from the bank or a quick craft of something they need). To say that is always only “random PvEers” who used the crafting stations is wrong.

I also agree if that is their only method for determining “server population” then that is a problem.

Perhaps, as a guild hall upgrade, they could add all of the crafting stations to the market or the side of it. At least then people would have easy access to crafting stations from anywhere in the PvE map without cluttering the WvW maps (if that’s what wvwers are really afraid of).

Decent idea. I think it should happen regardless of whatever else they do with crafting stations.

But A-net also needs to realize that not everyone belongs to a guild with a guildhall.

This is why I still support Obsidian Sanctum as a viable option for crafting stations. It’s a removed WvW map. It would also help those players who are not in a guild with a hall (yet). It also would be a good place for a “WvW 101” for newer players since you have the options of the GvG arena there other players from the opposing servers could also come to do the jp, troll people doing the jp, or just come to duel.

Prep work like crafting should be done before entering WvW. Taking a up a queue spot to sit and craft is ridiculous.

Except people that go to craft hardly take your spot in the Q for very long. Often, some of them also go and roam their BL. So I seriously doubt anyone crafting is really hurting you or your server or anyone else as far as battles go.

WvW needs a starter zone / lobby of it’s own.

So, like EotM? I’d be perfectly okay with stations in EotM.

Of course. I’ve been in Obsidian Sanctum a few times (recently) and I almost never see people there. They could easily add crafting tables and banks there (with a safe zone). Most people I meet in the JP are A. trolls who enjoy killing people who just want to do the JP, B. there to duel, or C. there to gvg in the arena (which I also never see someone use).

Balanced in what way? Maps? Servers? Classes?

Classes are hardly balanced with about 1/3 sitting at the top of the meta (from a pvp perspective) and the bottom 3rd are so laughably weak compared to the others you never see them around.

Servers are not balanced. I’m just glad we have FINALLY rotated to a new set. Whenever we sit with the same servers for more than a month I remember when they locked the servers “indefinitely” and that was a horrible time for the WvW community. My home server was the lowest ranked server for WvW at the time (Anvil Rock) and we were paired with Ebay and Borlis. Players and guilds are always moving.

And maps? Don’t even joke. People don’t like Desert because (to me) it’s so twisty and there are so many paths you can get lost and it takes a long time to “respond” to a location in distress. Alpine is laughably easy to karma train. It’s harder to defend well without doing a “turtle” defense and it’s extremely easy to get from point A to point B quickly. Since Simultaneous maps looks like it’s going to win, I would strongly suggest Anet revamp the Alpine map to better compete with the Desert map or servers with that map will get rolled.

They could also design a third and new BL map and have them based on colors (which I’ve mentioned before elsewhere). I think variety is good. I’ve been here 3+ years and running around Alpine is super easy; running around Desert is less so… I was relying on my latest wvw guild to show me around the Desert map and I still got lost now and then on my own. I look forward to playing on it again.

ANet said that they were not going to put crafting stations in guild halls so that people wouldn’t basically become hermits. They are not putting them in guild halls so that players have to go to cities and “be” social.

Darling, we are already playing an MMO. =) We shouldn’t have to go to a city to be “social” with other players.

I use the LFG for my PvE purpose, yoloq in PvP or team up with friends, I’ll even argue with the pricks in the lobby, just last night I offered sage advice from my tenure as a player here in LA, but yes, I do spend a lot of my time playing alone. I like the idea of people but I don’t like people in general. The idea of the MMO is to have social opportunities with the ability to play as you like. Anet hardly needs to go to this extreme to force us to socialize. If want to do that then I’ll just log off and sit in my town square.

It wouldn’t be so bad, except towns in this game like Lion’s Arch take 5 flippin’ minutes to load. Wvw? 10 seconds.

I understand this will give them a better idea of population distribution, but it’s still a huge QoL loss unless they:

  • Add crafting stations to Heart of the Mists (sPvP lobby)
  • Add crafting stations to Guild Halls

To be honest, I wouldn’t add the stations to Heart of the Mists. The load in location is quite crowded at the moment and takes (me) nearly as long as LA to load into. I also play on a tablet though, so that’s my excuse for my load times.

PvP is a far more toxic environment than WvW. Enough people “idle” in the PvP lobby already spouting profanity and putting other players down. They hardly need more fodder with PvEers pit-stopping in there to craft something.

People who PvE also WvW and vice versa. It was a convenience for those players to have that access in wvw if they wanted it. For one of my wvw guilds I did learn the “feast” type recipes of the foods we used so I could craft them at a moment’s notice.

The best tier of food/oils is not available from the Provisioner (which I find to be a huge waste of points in that line). I was also able to quickly craft myself new weapons/sigils/runes/inscriptions/insignias (for stat changes on asc weapons/armors). As a player who plays in all of the major aspects of the game (PvE, WvW, and PvP), this is a tremendous quality of life loss for me. It also makes me less inclined to WvW. What if I forget something? Keeps have to be upgraded to have bank access. Not everything can be passed through a guild bank (ie ascended gears). I simply refuse to buy something I’ve already made (foods/oils).

They could have moved them to EotM, which was made for WvWers in queue for a BL or EB. They could have even put in a new safe zone in Obsidian Sanctum (since NO ONE goes there). These options still keep the main WvW map populations low(er).

I don’t think it was necessary to remove the crafting stations from wvw as I often used them (especially the Chef station). I think they were perfectly fine where they were in the BLs. They weren’t in the way and were easily accessible if anyone needed anything.

Anet should have at least provided an alternate option for people who did use the crafting stations, rather than just leaving them in a lurch.

Well if any of you read the books: Rytlock, Logan, and Caithe destroyed a part of Lion’s Arch and since they didn’t have money to pay for the damages Magnus “paid” their damages by “purchasing” them from the LA jail, in return they were gladiators in his arena until they paid him back. Canach is basically in the same position. He got “purchased” by Countess Anise. There is nothing to say she won’t release after this escapade. Even if she doesn’t, you know she’ll have him stick around for her.

(Spoilers ahead…) However, I think he fills a role with the group more than Rytlock does. Rytlock has Destiny’s Edge. Eir is dead, Logan and Zojja are injured, and Caithe is still herself. They lost Snaff in the book as well, and the team broke up (this is where your personal story picks up). Given time for recovery and mourning, I don’t think Destiny’s Edge should break up. I don’t think Rytlock can just jump ship, abandoning his other friends, to run around with these “kids.” If anything I could see him playing his part as a mentor, but I do not think of him as part of “my group of Destiny’s Edge 2.0.” I like Canach there better. He brings an element of sarcasm that fits the group. Marjory is too serious, Kasmeer is the girly one, Taimi is our nerd, Braham is our typical Norn jock who likes to hit things, and Rox is the sweetheart of the bunch, very mama bear. Let’s not forget, that Rox is very enamored with Rytlock too and he refers to her as “cub.” This whole puppy love thing she’s got for him is cute, but it’s not good for the group. Canach brings tension, he makes them think, and he is good enough to be there too. He’s not a character I see going away and his development has come a long way. I enjoy having him around and he’s the only reason I’ve turned my game sounds on to hear Living Story on my multiple play-throughs.

Personally, I would have Canach stick around. Rytlock can have his arcs where he tags along as a mentor, but I don’t feel like he fits the group. Moreover, it doesn’t feel right for him to abandon his team. That doesn’t sound like Rytlock. Canach had bad experiences with the Consortium and now he’s basically an indentured servant to Countess Anise, but there is nothing to say he won’t change his mind about sticking around. He did grow to like “DE 2.0” and his banter with us hysterical, especially as a Sylvari player. He has a lot more room to grow as a member of the group and he could be a catalyst for the others to grow too.

So, since Anet said they would be dismantling the Desert borderlands and returning to the Alpine maps I have heard some grumbling. I am in a WvW guild for my server and there are more than a few people who are sad to see the Desert map go. However, I am a casual WvWer myself and I will say it took me a lot longer to learn to navigate the Desert map than it did the Alpine map. That aside, here’s my question…

How many people would be interested in unique borderlands? As in, red borderland will have the desert map (thus appeasing the people who like it), and blue or green can have the alpine map, and whichever of the two go the short straw would get an all new map.

My ideas were a Jungle map for green or an Ocean map for blue (I hear shrieks of alarm at the thought of water combat already). However, someone in my guild mentioned the set up of the Eternal Battlegrounds map. Lowlands Keep is in a swampy looking area. There is enough land for travel, but there are great puddles of water all around the keep and the towers guarding it. I would not be opposed to a swampy, marshy map. The same guild mate suggested that blue borderlands be an ice and snow map (with the SAB ice physics).

Now I understand, comparatively, Alpine is an extremely simple map. There is a lot of open space and clear lines or channels of attack. It also makes defense that much easier (or difficult). So, for Alpine to compete with the Desert map it would need to be revamped, more terrain added to give it the same edge as Desert (or the 3rd new map). I would be okay with Alpine returning, along with Desert map plus a new map, provided it got be redesigned to be as complex.

My Mistward Pauldrons collection is bugged. I have Retribution unlocked but the collection is still locked. I heard there was an NPC that could fix this, but the NPC is no longer in the game. Bring it back or fix my collection please.

Also, fractal skins I owned prior to HoT release aren’t showing up in the new collection for the original fractal weapon skins. Please fix that.

Final note, fix the map completion rewards. I am afraid to finish map comp of Magus Falls on three of my toons because they all have 100% comp already and don’t want to waste time to not get my reward.

Excuse me… raises hand I would like to reiterate that I have successfully survived a Lich attack once. I did have three clones up to pop for distortion. I did have decoy off cool down. I had mass invis off cool down for use as well. I had chaos storm ready for use and blurred frenzy… Everything was ready for me to use to save myself and I burnt practically all of them to do it. I can’t say fighting a Lich will go in the mesmer’s favor every time. It won’t. I’m pretty sure at the point that the necro popped Lich I was at 75% HP. I popped my heals to make sure I was at full HP after the first hit and I was kiting on point. Granted, if the necro’s team had been there and I wasn’t 1v1’ing the necro, I probably would have had to peel or just die. In matches, everything is situational. Yeah, if I’m caught at 25% hp (with no defenses) and the necro pops Lich with the intent to focus me down first I am probably going to die.

So, in ideal circumstances, I think a mesmer could hold their own in a 1v1 with a Lich’d necro. With the same sentiment as the thieves, if I don’t see you coming and you get the drop on me…

That sounds absolutely awful. I wouldn’t call it surviving if you have to cut off your leg to escape the bear trap. This is a perfect example of why damage mitigation is not as good as countering. It expends far more resources and only makes you safer in the short term.

However, the opposite claim, that Lich just defeats everything 1v1 when not Moa’d is also a claim I have seen no prove of yet.

I am casually interested how you document something fighting “everything” 1v1.

Yeah, and I don’t really remember how the fight went after all of that. I think my team came and saved my bacon on point. I just remember being impressed that I survived at all, because Lich makes it near impossible.

Not entirely true. Multiple guardians could bring enough reflects. A single guardian brings one reflect and a possible three absorbing domes. So, mesmer has them beat for reflects, we have access to four (using the signet heal to recharge warden for a quick 4th reflect), three base though, with traits.

He never said mesmers didn’t have more he said guardians usually have enough, which is true.

I singled out the word “reflects” in their post darling. That is something I want a newer player to be aware of. Mesmer has more of them when built for them. A guardian has absorbs, which is not a reflect. They only have one. So, by case of wording, they are not correct. Mesmer has more reflects than a guardian, but the catch 22 is they have to trait 4 points into Inspiration to get it. If you want to count it as who has more blocks, then yes, guardian has more.

When you’re losing 4-5k hp a hit you don’t have a lot of options as a mesmer except to go on the defensive or peel and run for it (all the while hoping you don’t get smacked by any of the necro’s teammates). I have successfully negated Lich form once, but it required burning all of my defenses. It’s not easy for a mesmer to headbutt a necro in Lich and come out on top.

Please, no more argumentative replies. More thoughts on Moa vs Lich, of course, are welcome as well as feedback.

Personally, I like keenlam’s idea, however I’d want a duration increase of Moa to 15 seconds as well as a partial cool down decrease, maybe to 120 seconds, since we added time to the Moa duration.

Remember that with Chronomancer Moa can have a double decrease in CD and you end up with two Moa every 90 seconds. If we lowered the base to 120 and increased duration to 15, you could Moa someone two times every 60 second. This would make it possible to have someone Moaed for 50% of any fight. I think necro would like that even less.

Keenlam’s idea was for a 105s cd and maintaining the 10s duration. So I think we’d break even here, almost. shrug =) I don’t use moa very much in pvp unless I just want to have fun and troll as mes. Mass Invis is much more useful to me nine times out of ten.

Tagging mobs … you’re going to be jealous of:

  • Guardian with lootstick (staff)
  • Elementalist with staff
  • Engineer with grenades/flamethrower

These classes simply tag mobs so much better than everyone that many of us made alts of one of these for farming events back before Silverwaste was released.

I do ok tagging with sword and on my ele I use daggers for lightning whip to tag (but only in dry top). To be honest, I think I swapped my mes once for ele/guard for world boss train (pre-changes to timers), and got more tags with mes than I did with the other two. I don’t really know what the difference was, aside from the class I was using ha ha!
