Oh boy oh boy oh boy!
I logged in just to respond to this thread, and boy, it takes a lot for me to get to do so.
1. Don’t tell me how to play the way I like.
2. It is impossible to get the stat combos that most, if not all duelists want to use/like through spvp. Sure the game mode is nice to duel cross server, but don’t cram your PPT bull down my throat, ’kay?
Signed,
A WvW Player that is probably better than you are.
I can’t believe I’m succumbing to this thread, but I just want to point out the fact that even though this video is old, it is still easy to do this to zergs. The memories of when this game was good.
@proviticus
Doin it in T1 is wrong bro. Its a quality of life to move to T2!
You’re more likely to finish your map completion if you transferred to a T2 server because the matchup is variable instead of the same boring T1 matchup.
Unfortunately the state of WvW has been on a decline. The people that usually did the jump puzzle in the OS were the frequent PvE’ers that would get their daily chest for the loot. Now that Edge of the Mists has been added with champion loot bags, it is much faster, simpler, and easier for someone to farm without any real work put forth.
Why aren’t you taking double endure pain? Cleansing Ire doesn’t even come CLOSE to how useful endure pain is! Now to mention the signets; where is fury stamina and might? If you’re not putting a minimum of 6 signets on your bar you’re not playing warrior right and are a casual.
One does not simply…
… record videos of pwning noobs.Try again when you fight at Tier#2 and not low-end pugs who should go EOTM instead
Fixed it for you.
Going even further with the changes Prysin suggested, build a bit more toughness if your plan to roam on your ranger. You die if someone breathes on you. A burst heal may suit your playstyle better. While you do get the jump on most people you show us, that may not always be the case.
The fights you have shown in the vids look to me to be mostly one sided where some others jump into the fight near the end (granted you are on a T1 server and solo fights are hard to find). Instead of cutting your video up, why not run a fast-forward between fights when you’re out for a routine run?
To maintain crit damage, you could swap trinkets for Valkyrie’s or Cavalier’s. While this hurts your crit chance in a way, I believe your survivability will increase tremendously. Currently, with the full zerk build Prysin proposed, that’s a 65% crit chance before fury. Add fury and your’re at 85% making crits happen almost all the time.
Also, condi’s are your most feared enemy as a ranger.
Moving it to the WvW section was their response. Anyways, I like the implementation of this as well, this could be a small icon on the players’ face plate, or as the face plate background itself.
With the same reasoning, i can go afk in the field and come back 10 minute later and see a dead zerg at my feet?
Seriously though, stealth and evasion are the two core mechanics of thief gameplay so of course they are going to have access to it. Please leave your QQ elsewhere. This can go for pretty much everyone else that complain about thieves.
Thank you and good day sir!

Julie, you CANNOT salvage armor purchased with wvw badges.
Previously, we were able to transmute runes from a set using the stones, this enabled people who used exotic wvw gear purchased from badges to transfer runes between different sets to allocate their build changes. Now that we can no longer do transmute runes over, and we have never been able to salvage wvw armor, the runes become inaccessible once placed on wvw badge armor.
PvE’ers shouldn’t be in WvW. Thank you for your post though, I’m sure we will contest even harder now just for you.
As a Ranger, with nothing to contribute to a zerg outside of a water field, I’m sad that a profession with so much wvw utility would demand more. =(

Sad, yet so true…
RIP Ranger
There is a thread where suggestions on class balance can be made, so here you go:
forum warriors of the week:
Abberant and Furiousbeard from FA: I love reading your posts, sincerely.
Nickthemoonwolf from TC: please stop talking.
Luvpie from SoS: Love the commander… Love him!
10-30-30!! Whoot!!! Been running this since launch on my theif, never changed. I mess around with which traits I use depending on who I roan with. But enjoy either way, lots of diversity with this build.
A buddy of mine described to me this concept a while back and I’ve begun trekking people the same. As D/D, or S/D for this matter, there really is no skill cap, or ceiling. You can always get better with it. I’m not taking about the 3 spam condi spec, but pure glass cannon, less than 12k hp. For comparison, look at DD ele, there’s a basic rotation that every single one of them follows which hinders them with a low skill cap. For theif, stealth gives them the unpredictability to not only give you the upper hand in a fight, but also opens up your options to literally anything you want or have access to. Sure you can go for the backstab, but you could also wait for stealth to drop basilisk steal cnd backstab combo, or swap to secondary weapon say shortbow, get poison on them and immobilize, or swap sword or pistol and daze or bleed them some. See what I mean? There are so many options that become open for DD thieves that blows the roof off of any skill ceiling.

What you wanna do is get a bunch if people in eb, take sm, and camp the third floor with a kitten ton of superior arrow carts. This way you kill the lord every 10 or so minutes and, if the opposing server is stupid enough to take you out, you get a nice bag farm as well.
Cheers
Has anyone else realized Chris W. didn’t use guild vs guild when describing the incident. He simply called it guild game play.
Something to think about.
I saw the Red icon and thought there would be more than one Dev response because I see constant responses in other threads of the forums outside of WvW… I see a trend here…
Also,
No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No.
Thank you.
@Wish
I get the math, but you need to remember that this is for this specific build. I believe Assassin’s armor with a mixture of Zerk Trinkets is a nice balance. You will crit more, giving your on crit sigils to proc more often. Your analysis of assassin’s vs Zerk is for this build only.
Having Venoms work like mantras would be interesting to see. Could also see venom sharing builds become more useful because the thief would have the ability to proc which strike when it wants to. Having two strikes of basiliks venom go off one after the other is pretty useless because you’re usually trying to spike one target.
No, you just wanted to rub it into their faces. Apologies to FA and CD for this.
I can’t wait for a t1 server to roll in and knock our fair weathers down a few pegs.
Can’t even kill 30v5 pyro in that last fight.
You’re just trying too hard… pretty bad too.
You guys do realize kites give you reduced fall damage, right?
And who the hell still uses commander tags?
Yes, Healing signet does stack with healing power.
This was too good not to post… So I’m going to leave this here….
EA ambush!
(edited by Chewy.9263)
If a lag fest like this is what T1 is all about, I’d rather fall back down to T2. FA and SoS brought much better fights than SoR does. Still love me some BG.
Ranger with a longbow, increased range, and piercing arrows. Hits everything.
Less skill lag would be better than siege masteries…
@Bull Zooker
And this is what I, like the OP, want to get rid of. Too many talent-less players thinking they’re all great when they down someone like this.
@Kyrion
I’m going for the post infringement here so first off, kitten you. Second, stick to the godkitten discussion and actually contribute.
@Cyhann
As long as you’re cool with tying me up.
Back on topic:
As for having this exhaustion on sword #3, it wouldn’t affect it because it as a different skill at each cast.
Maybe moving thief over to recharges could work, but to stick with the bursty theme, have those cooldowns still very low. I don’t see a problem with a combination of both? Hell, even a one second cooldown once the attack has finished would tremendously increase more skillful play. I just hate seeing horribad thiefs running around heartseeker spamming someone at full health…
You kittentard thieves are beyond stupid. I main a thief, and Heartseeker spam is by far the most broken mechanic the class has, the OP is wrong about that. The OP is not having trouble dealing with these thieves, he is simply stating that it is discouraging a variable, more skillful, gameplay.
Here, you all have (save for a few) attacked the OP trying to make a intelligent discussion about how to discourage spamming the same skill over and over and over and over… etc.
Having this exhaustion would inevitably encourage more skillful gameplay. It makes thief have to actually think and use its other skills. Hell, I’d go so far as to create a debuff that makes thieves take more damage if they spam the same skill.
Now I await for the post infringements and all the trash I am going to get for this post. Cheers!
I believe what people are failing to realize is that you only need 10 in Shadow Arts in order to achieve “permanent” stealth while outside of combat. Utilizing two thieves with a smoke field and the ridiculously overpowered shortbow, perma stealth is a breeze and simple even while in combat. Take the V train under SA if you guys didn’t know.
Stealthing while in combat to hide in a tower is very useful. It attracts lots of enemies away from where they are actually needed, thus aiding the map.
Yours truly,
Stealth Capper of TC
Especially that greatsword… mmmm
Is this suppose to be something new and unheard of? There are already countless threads stating the same thing. I’m guessing some thief rolled you and you had to post on the forums?
Thief was made to be bursty, and has been stated. If you don’t like having been essentially 1 shotted, I suggest you look to your gear and apply some more toughness and vitality. Too many people going into WvW with their full zerker setup they use in PvE and expecting to roll people the same way as NPCs.
Please be more mindful of your posts like this.
Is there a reason why we haven’t set up some GvG’s yet?
From what i know, TC guilds don’t GvG.
SoS doesn’t really have any guilds at this stage who can afford to put 15-20 members in a GvG situation. All the guilds we have at this stage are working their butts off learning SoR tactics etc.
SoR Tactics: If we don’t outnumber ’em RUN AWAY!
What server is RE transferring from?
Can we flip SM every 5 to 10 minutes so that we can farm world exp? How about it FA? DB? We each can place rams at our respective sides and go in from there, no wiping of the rams. How about it?
I run a 10/30/30/0/0 build, taking the regeneration while in stealth, initiative gain, and shadows rejuvenation. I run full berserker armor with inflation runes and a celestial trinket set. Celestial on a thief?! You may ask, but while I take a small decrease in power and precision, 5 critical damage, I make up for it with more survivability and condition damage.
It all really depends on your play style AS A THIEF. Pve is really no place for us sadly.
I’ve been doing this for months with my buddy on TC. Haven’t posted video of it in a while, but we still have plenty of successful caps that take roughly 45 second to complete after the lord buff is down. Bring a buddy thief with you next time and do it faster. Good luck.
You don’t alt a thief; you main one. What’s pve? You’ll have the most enjoyment playing a thief when your in spvp or wvw.
sorry guys…I had to
As long as you’re still hitting the Wagonbrand I’ll still be happy =D
So even if you break SM doors down from the inside they still open inwards…
Mmmmm so sexy. Love the thief!
I’m going to have to guess one of those POI’s and Vistas is Veloka? If you’re going to have an attempt at Veloka with anything but a large group, you’re going to have a bad time. Veloka is probably the last tower you should make an attempt at when hitting red, unless you ninja it.
