"Last Online" in Guild Panel... PLEASE!

Coopziana.1802

I suggested this back in the day when the “Suggestion” forum wasn’t in “Archive” along with many, many others.

There is more than enough room for it on the “Roster” page. Something like:

Last Online: 1-day ago.

I really can’t understand why this hasn’t been put in already, for these 2 monumental reasons:

1. Timers already exist in the Trading post under “Item’s I’m Selling” it tells you when you added the item to the TP.
2. It was in GW1.

So we KNOW it is do-able! Why are we now over a year down the line and it still has not been added in?

I’m sure all Guild leaders will agree that it is a complete nightmare keeping track of active vs inactive members and currently I am being forced to “Purge” pretty much every other month as the guild quickly fills up and I have no idea who is active and who is not… With 500-members you’re almost asking guild leaders to give up their lives to monitor activity within a guild. Which ultimately can be fixed with a simple adding of code which you already have in both GW1 and GW2… Granted they may not be 100% accurate. But even a rough outline of inactivity time is better than nothing and if ANET were to do it and specify that it is in BETA then they would have no problems from players as they will understand it isn’t perfect.

All I want to see is members who have been offline for more than 2-weeks and if that was the case I would assume they were inactive and kick them from the guild so that I could invite more people.

Without the hassle of creating a “Purge” rank and then having to put near on 300-members into the rank and then monitor the Guild, almost around the clock to remove them when they get online.

Each purge takes me roughly about 2-3 weeks to complete… ANET PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, sort this out. It’s kinda ruining my time in-game and it’s not exactly a big ask!

My AP's rely on others!?

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: Coopziana.1802

Coopziana.1802

Fed up of seeing achievements being added that rely on other players to be able to get them.

These are MY Achievement points and it’s not fair that I can’t get them because i’m stuck in a server of Morons who don’t listen or just don’t understand what is going on….

The latest release for example:
“6-Minutes till Knightfall” – I alone cannot achieve this, I rely completely on other people being there and working together to gain this achievement… WHY!?

Did Arenanet not state “Play the game how you want to play it” well I’d like to get all the achievements completed for the living story and at this rate I won’t because i have to rely on others… This post has been a long time coming!

Just while i’m on the subject of the “6-minutes” achievement, Anet have been so obsessed with the loot that they have now made it too hard, meaning we can kill 1 knight in 14-minutes… So tell me how are we going to get this achievement now? furthermore how am i going to get the scarlet achievements if I now can’t get to the battle phase? ALL BECAUSE I HAVE TO RELY ON EVERYONE ELSE!

Sort it out or remove the Achievement Anet… and stop adding achievements that mean we have to rely on others. I understand you want us to work together but we shouldn’t be forced to do so in order to gain achievements.

Bring Back Guild Capes!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Much Like Guild Back Banners:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Savage_Guild_Back_Banner_Skin
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Elegant_Guild_Back_Banner_Skin

Which have already been added. I’d love to see the traditional GW1 Capes added in to GW2. I distinctly remember this being discuss back in the days of the “Suggestions Forum” which has now been archived. Not sure what came of the discussion, but as we don’t have Guild Capes in the game…. One can only assume ANet ignored it.

For those who don’t know what Guild capes are, see this Wiki Link:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Cape

They worked pretty much the same way that Guild Emblems work in GW2 except the Emblem was put onto a cape that each character could show/hide. GW1 had no back items and so Cape was the only thing that you could have on your back, which is probably why people didn’t want to see them again in GW2. But since time has passed now, I think the time is right to consider adding them back in!

ANet, before you dismiss this idea. I recommend you add Capes as a Gemstore item… I only say this as it will actually be added that way! lol

I would prefer it to be added in as a guild upgrade (along with Guild Halls) but I’d rather see them added as a Gemstore item than not at all…

I’d buy it and wear one… What do you guys think?

Mawdrey II - Moving Forward

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Coopziana.1802

Coopziana.1802

My guild and I were just discussing Mawdrey and we thought it would be really cool if it was to grow in the following way:

1. After being fed [x-amount] of dust, it becomes too large to fit in your inventory and becomes an item that (once double-clicked) creates an NPC “Mawdrey II” plant in your home instance.
2. From your home instance you can continue to feed it with Dust and over time you can start feeding it with Ore and Fragments (the ascended one’s).
3. As time goes on, the more you feed it the larger it gets (just for arguments sake, x-amount of dust, y-amount of Ore and z-amount of Fragments). Until it gets to it’s largest size.
4. Upon reaching larger sizes the rarity of items it drops goes up, making it more beneficial with the more time you put into feeding the little critter.
5. Once it reaches max size you can select an option to make it eat you (for an achievement). and from that day onwards you have a pet to eat all those pesky ascended materials in exchange for a chance at some rare/exotic and perhaps even ascended items… and if Anet are feeling really generous, perhaps even Precursors.

Just thought it would be fun to take the concept of Mawdrey II and blow it out of proportion… Pardon the pun!

Thoughts?

GW2 vs. FF-XIV

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Coopziana.1802

Coopziana.1802

Yes I am a traitor and have been seeing another MMO behind GW2’s back… but before I go on, I want you all to know that this is NOT a dig at GW2 and in-fact Will be singing it’s praises.

Firstly I want to explain my reasons for switching over to FF from GW2 (this is a dig at GW2 so if you don’t wanna see it, skip this paragraph). Basically put, logging into GW2, just merely thinking about opening the game had become unthinkable for me. Having played the game since BETA, I had lost all interest in the game and found it becoming more of a chore than a pleasure… So knowing what everyone’s response would be (Go play another game), I figured “why bother asking, I’ll just do it”. Being a big Final Fantasy fan, I chose to give it a go… Here is my review of the differences between FF and GW2.

UI —-
Final Fantasy: Wow, what a mess! There are different windows and tabs for pretty much everything. Armours and Items are stored in separate windows, meaning you have to switch between the 2 to see anything. There are hunting logs, crafting logs, journals, mount guides, mini guides and so on… all a real pain in the kitten to find and get your head around when starting the game.

Not to mention item comparisons, to compare 2 items you manually have to go into your “Armour Inventory” and right click the item you want to compare and select “compare Item” which then opens another window to compare the 2… A lot of hassle for such a small task.

The skill bars are too much as well, running around the world gaining more skills as you level up totally to 10 skill bars that hold 12 skills each which you scroll between, geez, shoot me now!

The compass map it hard to follow and getting to your destinations is not very clearly displayed, making it hard to find anything with it. So there is the magical “M” button, which opens up a resizable/moveable map window which is a bit easier to control and see where you are going… but all the different Icons on the map… Geez, they have markers for everything from merchants (all over the place) to insignificant buildings that can be entered… but with nothing of interest inside them! all of which are so close together the mini map looks like a mesh of markers, non of which are distinguishable until you are stood on top of them. Messy, Mess, Mess.

Guild Wars 2: What can I say? All of the above do not apply. The clean cut layout of the maps, POI’s, Vista’s and Waypoints makes for easy travel around the world, the skill bar is simple to use and doesn’t become complicated the further into the game you get. You inventory is also simple and all in one place so you don’t have to scroll around several different pages just to see what the hell you have on you…

So +1 to GW2.

Bloodstone Crazed Creatures Event

Frizz, It’s my understanding that the boss has some very specific spawn mechanics and should we merely "go do something else" there is a very high chance you will miss the boss spawn.

There is a rather big question mark over map instances vs. Timers. There is so little we actually know about this event that it almost forces you to stand in a map and wait for the boss to spawn.

Very shoddy work Anet!

Dev's Wasting Time & Effort?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Coopziana.1802

Coopziana.1802

Ok, so I have been doing a lot of thinking about GW2 and I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not happy with the current state of game play… or lack there of! All my thought has been focused on Anet giving us NEW content to keep it’s endgame players happy… As you can well imagine, I’ve been playing since BETA, so about a year and a half of having really little to do in the game (along with a break away from the game between living story chapters), I’m getting pretty bored and starting to really question whether I want to continue investing time into the game…

BUT THEN

I thought back to when I first started playing the game and how exciting it all was with the personal story. Then when they started the living story updates it was great… They added SAB, Wintersday events, Halloween etc… it was all really fun for a time…

BUT THEN

ANet took it all away… Some content never to be seen again!

I BEG YOUR PARDON!!!

Now we have all sat here and listened to people siding with ANet stating “They don’t have enough dev’s to keep up with demand” and every time I hear that I cringe and say “Well then WHY in Tryia’s Name are they making temporary content?” It just doesn’t make sense to me that there are not enough dev’s to keep up with the demand for new content so instead they remove content from the game… Giving us less to do!

PLEASE TELL ME I’M NOT THE ONLY ONE REALISING THIS!

I thought it would be really neat to have a minipet that follows you are like every other mini, apart from it looks identical to you. Perhaps with an additional ability to dress it differently to you (but that’s not crucial). I would definitely buy the Mini-Me from the Gem Store.

Numerous Guild Hall Bugs

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Coopziana.1802

Coopziana.1802

I realise people have posted about these separately, but thought it would be a good idea to put them all under one thread. So here is my list of bugs that should be looked into, soon please:

1. Guild Music – The Caverns Music will play but will not save, also after leaving the hall and coming back the selected music generally doesn’t play, it’s more often after visiting lions arch and the fanfare music is playing, after it end it all goes quiet.
2. Arena Decorating – You just can’t do it, at all!
3. Workshop – We have upgraded the building almost to max, it will randomly turn back to rubble. You can walk through the rubble as if it’s not actually there, but it’s visually there.
4. Guild Emblem – All the banner flags in the Guild hall are backwards. We don’t have a symmetrical Emblem so on all the banners the Emblem is actually back to front. (See image).
5. Resonance Broker – (See image 2) The description states that any remaining influence will be converted. Yet it doesn’t, instead you get an error stating that the transaction cannot be completed.

That’s all I got for now. Anet, can we please have an ETA on fixes for these, or just a nob to acknowledge that you are aware and are going to fix.

Lion's Arch - STOP NOW!!!

Nothing too fancy but something to keep up slightly interested in the current game, as it stands now… Cuz frankly it’s becoming stale…. FAST!

YES!!! You get what I mean!
Many of my friends quit the game and are waiting for the expansion… I feel so alone at the moment !!

I just want something new to do while we wait!!

Totally with you on this mate, I saw your post (which we may get merged lol). It is such an obvious move and I actually got quite excited when I logged in today… but then I realised there was no new content… other than a few NPC’s and scaffolding… which was really disappointing.

As I said in my OP, I’m not moaning about the rebuild itself cuz I’m excited to see what the new LA will look like and look forward to seeing all my favourite places fixed up and made better. Just a shame we couldn’t be more involved in the ever changing world where:

“OUR ACTIONS AFFECT THE WORLD AROUND US” #justsayin’

That’s what Anet said from the start… now our actions don’t mind the slightest difference cuz the NPC’s are doing it all…. Which is lame.

Yes people can argue that in previous chapters we did events to raise the funds, but I’m pretty sure that even if no-one did those events we would still see the same results… Therefore our actions mean “Squat”. The world is changing regardless of what we do, so our actions are meaningless…

Would have been nice to actually assist in building LA again, at least it would feel like we were actually changing the world (even though it’s quite clear we are not).

Or did my ascended armour shrink in the wash?

Notice that the new ascended around (between the top and trousers) the old belly seems to have a little bit of skin showing through.

IMO this really does spoil the armourset all together, Anet could you look at extending it a little so that my asuran doesn’t look like he’s put on a few pounds?

I have also noticed there is a slight gap on other races but it’s hardly noticeable.

Has Anet acknowledged problems with GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Coopziana.1802

Coopziana.1802

Part of me thinks that ANet should just bring back the GW1 Class system (minus the secondary profession) and just have each class have specific roles… It would be the best way for them as they know how to do it and can implement a few tweaks to make it work right for GW2.

The video linked got a bit confusing when he started chatting about conditions on the enemies but I get the point he was making. Lots of people despair at the whole “Go Zerk or Go Home” mechanics within the game, and it’s sad that the answer to the question
“What build should I go with for my [Insert Profession]” is always, “Zerker”.

Yawn

I would love nothing more than for ANet to balance the game into a state where I could choose a different build without fearing that I’m simply making life hard for myself.

This may be a bit “out there” but I think the easiest fix for this whole “Zerker” issue, is simply to remove Zerker gear and traits from the game completely and set crit chance and damage based on class and skills… Then we will be forced to choose a different build, thus balancing the game once and for all… As long as the NPC mechanics were also updated to reflect such changes.

But, I guess that is why I’m not a programmer! lol

The Zerker Games! (Shatterer Suggestion)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Coopziana.1802

Coopziana.1802

I’m gonna get straight to the point! So forgive me if it seems blunt!

It seems to me that the way Champion and Legendary enemy stats are being built is simply to give them a very high amount of HP, combine that with a timer in which you are given to complete the “Event” by killing the said “Champion/Legendary”. It’s not like they are overly strong, just a simple case of being tediously long winded…

With pretty much every enemy set up this way, it stands to reason that the thought process of a player is as such:
“It has a lot of HP and a Time Limit… So I need to do as much damage as possible within the set time… That’s an easy one, I’ll go Zerker!”

As we have seen from the latest patch. The Legendary Giant has a stupid amount of HP, but he’s not challenging when it comes to tactics, it’s more of a case of:
“Get within range, set auto-attack and go make yourself a coffee!”

I see this pattern re-occurring constantly in GW2 (as most players do) and so the smart thing to do is simply build a Zerk [Class Here].

Now I don’t want to point fingers here but, I don’t think it’s really players choice to build this way, it’s more that they feel they have to build this way to contribute and achieve within the game! So I have a suggestion (Dangerous, I know):

Introduce a new equation into the thought process: “What does the most damage?”
With the answer being: “It depends which enemy you are fighting.”

GW2 vs. FF-XIV

Combat —-
Final Fantasy: What a joke! An MMO that is pretty much a single player game, the fact you have other people around who just leave you to it when you are fighting a creature… because the enemies are that easy to kill… especially with the insane amount of skills you have at your disposal. the only time I have ever fought alongside another player is during a “FATE” event (GW2 call it a Dynamic Event) and a Raid (Dungeon). Other than that you merely run around the world killing certain creatures that the NPC’s ask you to kill. The best part is (/sarcasm) once you hit a certain level, the enemies just leave you alone. They lose hostility towards you and leave you to go about your day, happy as Larry… erm, ok!? I won’t even get started on the targeting system… Simply put, there is no auto targetting in the game, making battles that little bit more frustrating.

GW2: “Scaling” says it all. A good system which allows players to be challenged at all/most times. Although not my personal favourite system, at least you get attacked by all enemies in the world and never “out-grow” them. GW2’s dynamic events are good and i personally feel they are a lot more varied than the FF one’s. (which are simply “Kill monsters in the area” or “Kill monsters in area and collect items for NPC”) however, having said that some Dynamic events on GW2 are a little boring and last too long, whereas FF’s FATE’s only last for a certain amount of time before they vanish. All in all the interactive gameplay with other players wins this round for me, knowing that players won’t just leave me to fight alone and will usually throw in a spell or 2 on their way past.

GW- 2 : FF- 0

Crafting —-
Final Fantasy: Oh, My, GOD… Please kill me now! it took me about an hour to figure it out, after asking my guild (Free Company) for help several times… Not only is it difficult to distinguish between character classes and crafting professions as they are all called “guilds” but then when you finally find a crafting guild to join you are then given a crafting log to use which says “cannot craft” and why? because you have to equip a certain item into your main hand to start crafting… WHAT, WHY!? oh but wait, that’s not the best part, when you equip the crafting weapon, it removes all your armour and then leaves you to craft up your own “crafting armour” which you then consequently have to unequip to put your battle gear back on after you are finished… What a fantastic pain in the kitten . The only up-side to the system is that you can craft anywhere you like, so saves you time running back and forth between crafting stations and Trading Post. I’ll get onto the “Trading Post” later on. Now on to the worst part of it all… Synthesizing… you select the item you want to craft and then, like some messed up battle system with a copper ingot. you have to press skill 1 to hammer on it, which sometimes fails, you get a certain amount of attempts to fill the crafting progress bar with eat hit… if it fails you lose the crafting materials and have to start again… WHAT THE ACTUAL “French Connection UK”

GW2: Once again steals the points, as previously stated, the up-side of FF is that crafting can be done anywhere you like, whereas guild wars has static stations. FF also allows you to use any crafting profession at any time, proving you have the equipment for it. No messing, no chance to fail, no hammering and wasting time… Simple and effective. Well done ANET!

Travelling —-
Final Fantasy: MOUNTS – yes the one thing that fanatics all over GW2 want to see in the game… Well I will admit right now, I haven’t used a mount in FF yet, but from what I’ve seen they simply give you a bit of a speed boost and make you look a bit cooler, aside from that there are no real benefits to them. HOWEVER, I would like to point out the sheer size of the FF maps and the slow pace at which you potter along, with a single skill to “sprint” which last about 10 seconds with a recharge of 20 seconds. So mounts do help. but the waypoints… oh man I wanna die so much right now… In final fantasy they are called Aethershards which you can hope between within a single map (unless you use a large Aethercrystal to port between maps), but what it horrendously bad about these shards is the fact they don’t have names… they are simply referred to by the nearby POI’s. You can’t simply open up the map and click one to port to, you have to find an aethershard and then select from a list of random placenames that hold no relevance to where you want to be, confusing the sweet innocence out of you and leaving you saying “oh sod it, i’ll walk, rather than spend 10-minutes trying to figure out which one i need to choose.”.

As this game is heavily quest based you find yourself having to run back and forth A LOT, spending most of your time walking around, it would be more interesting if the enemies attacked you, but as i previously said… you don’t even get that. So with no mount until level 20+, Waypoints that makes no sense and walking at a snails pace… Final Fantasy needs looking at.

GW2: Simple waypoints in good locations all of which are named for ease of memorability, some classes having perma speed boosts for faster travelling, meaning Mounts are not needed. Guild Wars 2 once again wins this one for me. HOWEVER, I really do like the fact that Final Fantasy has a lot of quests, much the same way that Guild Wars 1 did. I would very much like to see them put into Guild Wars 2 so for that I’m going to award Final Fantasy 1 point, as well as Guild Wars 2.

GW – 4 : FF – 1

Mini’s —-
Final Fantasy: Well this one FF wins hands down. Mini pets in FF have a personality as such. You gain them during quests and some are obtained via special bonus events and paid upgrades. Giving them a back story of where they came from and how they came to be in your possession, like the lost Coerl Kitten, whose mother was killed and you rescued the kitten <—-(not a swear word, I actually mean a baby cat), which then wants to stay with you. The minpet then goes on to react to what is going on around it (in battle), it hisses at enemies that attack you and even pitches in with the odd attack (which does a very small amount of damage). Nice.

GW2: Sorry but your pure minipet aesthetic is pathetic in comparison (only said that because it rhymes lol), but in all seriousness, GW2 mini’s may need to be looked at.

Sort of like the old FF7 Snowboarding mini-game:

I specifically chose this video as it shows what happens when you hit certain objects along the course. It would be really cool to have something like this added to the edge of Rata Sum as a mini game or you could just pop it into Hoelbrak where there is actually snow.

Either way, just thought it could be quite fun and competitive.

Coopziana.1802

Professions —-
Final Fantasy: I’m on the fence with this one. FF allows you to level up in every profession to later select whichever one you want to play as. All classes are pretty well balanced and there is no bad one to use. The races are good but very similar to GW2 anyway.

GW2: No profession switching without starting a new character, balancing can always be better in GW2 (I don’t really know why, but they all seem to be sub standard). The one thing that GW2 has above FF on professions which is more of a combat mechanic, but in FF all your skill recharge at the same time, so it doesn’t matter which skill you use, all skills recharge after any one skill is used. Whereas GW2 skills recharge upon use, making battle much smoother and varied. So for that reason I’m giving the point to GW2.

GW – 5 : FF – 2

Style —-
Final Fantasy: I’m talking about character creation and changes to said character. Now although the initial setup of your character in FF is very limited in comparison to GW2, FF offers a free restyle NPC later in the game after unlocking during a quest. This guy is the campest thing you’ve ever seen in your life, but he allows you to add tattoo’s and new haristyles to your character for a small fee. he can even dye your hair 2 tones.

The armour in FF is truly stunning, even the most basic armour looks great and sadly for ANET the FF skins on all armour and weapons takes a big old dump on GW2. There are also a few more trinkets and the like that FF has that GW2 does not which adds a few more stats to your character, as well as stats that increase some attributes but decrease others, giving a more varied game.

GW2: Having to pay real life money or masses of in game gold for a total makeover kit is quite unattractive to me, however the initial character creation on GW2 is very customisable and gives plenty of option to really make you look different to everyone else. Which is a lot better than FF. I would quite like to see ANET add in a free hair style service inside the game (for all default character creation styles). and also add in a home instance NPC that allows you permanent access to new and future face, hair and colour releases. ( I would pay for that).

As for GW2 armour, as i previously said, they leave a lot to be desired in comparison to FF. Also the stats are much more varied and I feel that GW2 could benefit from armours that also decrease stats and hopefully get us out of the “Zerker ONLY” rut that the game has backed itself into. Stats wise, GW2 is in real trouble.

I’ll be shot down for this… But sometimes I just feel like it would be better if we just went back to the GW1 system.

No communication with ANET at all and any changes in game just suddenly happened without warning (unless a seasonal event) and we were just happy with what appeared in game without any warning really.

Only issue there is that GW1 had A LOT of content to play with so no-one really craved for new content, but were grateful when they got it anyway!

Dev's Wasting Time & Effort?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Coopziana.1802

Coopziana.1802

A few examples (and I’m not gonna bring up SAB) of this would be: Scarlet’s Invasion, The Aetherblade Dungeon, The Dredge Dungeon… etc…
Yes, Yes “it’s been added to Fractals” but still, there are a lot more events and stuff that happened during the living world events (like the Marionette) that are no longer part of the game and will likely never be seen again…

WHY!? ARGH IT HURTS MY BRAIN!

Anyone can come up with the simple story “The inquest moved in to experiment with the Marionette device and have reactivated it” and TA-DA you keep that content in the game… Players will be more forgiving of lame excuses to keep/bring back old content just because it’s something more for them to do!

I guess the overall point i’m trying to make is that ANet Dev’s are spending a lot of time creating these events for us and then taking them away so we are all back to square one… which is basically where I started after BETA… But this time I’ve already completed it all which leave me with… What? Farming Legendaries, or Achievements, using Guild Wars as a glorified Chat Room to talk to guild members. Run Champ or Meta trains? All of these are simply BORING.

Now I’m certain someone out there will say “Well find another game then” so I’ll save you the time and state, I don’t want to find another game… I have been a Guild Wars player since Guild Wars Prophecies. What I want is for ANet to take a step back and see the existing content that already have and have put in and removed and basically RECYCLE it.

If you want a story based excuse to put them back in I’d be more than happy to come up with some drivel for you to use just for the sake of putting it back in. Just PLEASE stop pushing yourselves to give us new content all the time and save yourself A LOT of time and effort and focus a couple of weeks on the existing content.

Give us replayable personal stories, with additional bonus challenges (just like LS now), allow us to unlock all paths of the personal story. Add in an additional mission at the end to allow us access to ALL the orders NPC’s and teleports (I’m the Commander of the Pact, so why do 2 of the orders hate me?) bring back the dungeons you took away… perhaps add some new paths. allow us to access an instance for the Lions Arch events and to replay Scarlet. Have Scarlet’s invasions put back in, the Marionette reactivated… and any other stuff I have missed.

Before you respond to this post, please take a moment to think back to the previous living story and ask yourself “is there something I’d like them to bring back?” Because, although there are some things I wouldn’t even care about them adding back in, there are other things I would. We are all different and enjoyed different sections of the living story content. But ANet will not take time out to add it back in unless they know we want it back!

So ANet PLEASE… THINK!!! – You have done some amazing work in the past and now it’s nothing! People don’t bake a cake, spend hours decorating it and then when it’s finally done, take a photo and promptly throw it in the bin… So why would you do that with all your time and effort?

I can’t speak for all players, so I only speak for myself when I say “I’d rather have a game full of crap content, than a game with no content” at present we have a great game but with very little content because you keep removing it… All i can say is “Was it really worth putting the time in at all, as right now you have nothing to show for it. The Living World promised that it would change Tyria FOREVER… I didn’t realise Forever would be such a short period of time”

Please make SAB permanent [Merged]

in Super Adventure Box

Coopziana.1802

NO, NO, NO!!!

Lets look at this from a different angle shall we?

Now we all moan about the lack of content in the game and how we want new things to be added right? Well think about it, it took AN a while developing this funky dungeon. We have to consider that we are still in Year-1 of game development so all the events we get for Wintersday/Halloween/Easter etc… Are the foundations for what we will get year after year henceforth, with minor tweaks each year to add a little extra. This means LESS WORK for AN.

Now I realise it’s their job to develop things, but wouldn’t you rather forsake this dungeon for the promise that AN will start working on better content for us as of August this year? Lets be fair, with these time limited events it means AN don;t have to make a new one each year and so they can focus on the things that really matter in the game, like balancing, Better Dynamic Events, More META events, Expansions and so on…

Not only would I happily give up this awesomely retro dungeon, but i’d gladly spend months farming a legendary and give it back to AN just for the pleasure of seeing more content in the game.

So I say, keep it as an Easter event for the following years to come and let AN get on with setting up the foundations of the game so all they have to do in future is “flick a switch” to turn the events on at the relevent times, meaning they have a lot more time giving us better content around the world.

All I’m gonna add to this is, Don’t forget there are still a few more elder dragons on the loose that haven’t even been created yet…

All in all I have to say -1 on this post. Though I will admit my initial thought was the same “Make it permanent”, though sometimes we have to think “outside the box” (haha, Get it?)

Sorry if this upset’s anyone!

Honey, The Megaserver Killed the Guild...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Coopziana.1802

Coopziana.1802

Yes it’s a corny title… Just wanted to make the topic lighthearted.

So for those of you out there who are either leading or an officer of a guild. Have you noticed how increasingly aggravating it is becoming when recruiting?

Since the Megaserver was introduced it seems that Guilds have taken a back seat for patches and bugfixes. Now I may be wrong with some of my assumptions so I’ll put it as a question so you guys can tell me the answers, as we get to it.

So firstly, we have had increasing difficulty with running guild missions, with our members being separated onto various servers (home servers) and so teaming up to transfer them in is a bit of a pain. I’ve also had reports from my members that they cannot see the guild missions feed, so have to be told who we are hunting in a bounty etc… Some have reported they cannot access the guild chest, some have said they cannot display the guild emblem and it doesn’t show on banners they put down.

Further to all this, As leader 9/10 times I cannot see what home server my members belong to… on the odd occasion it will show up, but by which time they are already a member of my guild and therefore would be harsh to kick them.

This problem of not knowing the homeserver must be a real drag for WvW guilds who wish to run a guild zerg only to find a handful of them are against their own guild as a hostile server… Thankfully my guild is a PvE guild so that’s not too much of an issue.

However, it’s sad to say (and i’m certain it has been stated no less than 1,000 times on the forums) that the Megaserver has caused more problems than it has fixed.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s fantastic that you are rarely alone in a map… but at the same time is a pain when you are doing your daily reviver and there are 10-players in the same area as you… #ThaumanovaReactorZerg

So I put it to you guys… Is the Megaserver a +1 or a -1 to you?

I recommend ANET perform any one of these suggested changes to hopefully fix the issue:

1. Remove Home Servers and bring back the GW1 Style server system. For WvW it would just become another EotM Style system, but them WvW tournaments would become redundant…
2. Remove the Megaserver completely.
3. Allow players to set whether they want to see players in Megaserver mode or in Homeserver mode. So you can only see people from the same server as you (or even just put their names in a different colour so you can identify them).

4. and my personal favourite: Take away the charge for switching server and allow free transfer, with a penalty of 1-week ban from WvW borderlands.

5. OR introduce a new Free Switching service which allows players to switch server ONCE per month for free, additional switches will cost.

What do you guys think? Any other suggestions on what Anet can do to fix the MEGA-Mess-Server

Lion's Arch - STOP NOW!!!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Coopziana.1802

Coopziana.1802

It takes them about four months to create things like you’re suggesting. I’d rather not have them stop everything for four months … I want HoT before then!

It came from RB at ANet herself if you read the post here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/This-week-s-special-surprise/page/3#post5081060

and I quote:
“the game development process and the fact that we have different teams working on different features.”

Therefore there would be no delay on HoT if the Lion’s Arch team were to add in Dynamic events.

Having said that, I’m not crazy on the OP suggestions. I would like to see a few dynamic events and collection events (go out into the world and find a certain item and bring it back). With the addition of a few achievements. Nothing too fancy but something to keep up slightly interested in the current game, as it stands now… Cuz frankly it’s becoming stale…. FAST!

Are you excited for the Feature Pack?

Coopziana.1802

I’m looking forward to the changes being implemented simply for the collections. Finally I will have something to do in the game… Though I’m not sure how long it will keep me entertained for.

I have seen a video or 2 showing off the new features. The new back items are (in my opinion) ugly as hell and simply ridiculous and I am pretty sure I will utter “noob” under my breath each time I see someone wearing one of them… Sadly I will be forced to unlock the skins though… urgh…

The TP update is… Good but at the same time it could have included a well needed “Trade” function that allows players to trade items for other items. Other than that is wasn’t a much needed change, the existing TP is more than adequate.

The Balances I dare not look into as they seem to target my build every single time they change build balancing, so I’m going to just continue in blissful ignorance.

I like the minipet update which I suggested about a year ago… Finally it has been answered!

Other than that… I imagine within a week or so, my gaming will go back to the usual:

I was just in Queensdale and I found a toxic offshoot and thought to myself. It would actually be really fun to do one of those again, I might do a few of them just for fun…

Within 10-seconds I’m downed and it was only thanks to a nearby spider that i killed in downed state that i survived. Why?

Because it seems that an Elite enemy was attacking me, and not just one – OOOOOH no – that would be silly… 3 of them… oh and 1 veteran… I mean I know I’m level 80 with full ascended armour but that is ever so slightly too much.

One would have thought that they would have been scaled down a touch so that players can solo them or at the very least completable with 2 people.

I’d like to be able to do them but most people avoid them now, probably because they are Overpowered. Any chance ANet could look into making them a bit easier?

P.S. Please keep them in the game! – Just easier!

Revisit Personal Story - Yes or No?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Coopziana.1802

Coopziana.1802

Do you ever take a look back at your personal story and think… I can’t actually remember doing that it was so long ago?

I know I do, I remember one chapter in particular which i absolutely loved during the Asuran story and would love to revisit it… but Alas Anet have not implemented such a tool yet.

I can understand that some missions were purely storybased and had no for of action involved other than chatting to NPC’s and watching a cinematic. But equally some of them were great and it’d be nice to watch them again. also some missions were not completed until after you leave the instance, so might be tricky to implement… However they did it in GW1. Just saying!

So my question to you is, Would you like to see this in the game? Also what would your thoughts be on Hard modes which would require the assistance of a party?

See how much interest this post gets and hopefully Anet will think about putting it in for us.

Well I feel that Megaserver is mostly to blame for the deaths of many guild within the game…

I agree the benefits of the megaserver is great, but it has also caused a lot of issues with the game mechanics for me… Just my opinion.

I’ve expressed my discontent for it already so I won’t go into it again. But Yes I hope ANet will introduce Districts Like in GW1 so I can choose to stay on my “Home Server District” for the majority of my game play and switch to Megaserver mode when I need to (E.G For large events).

Coopziana.1802

I’m not sure where you are getting that china is not included. The presentation specifically says that profit is up on GW2 because of china…

they only made 25 million INCLUDING china’s launch.

Not really new information, we knew the game was in trouble, the devs just refuse to give the players what they want.

I don’t think it’s “refusal” I think it’s lack of manpower and time to make it happen. True they have their own agenda’s which aren’t exactly conducive to player needs, but I’d like to think that they would give us what we wanted if they could.

I guess it’s a case of “prioritising” where the game is concerned and right now I think they are more controlled with improving the game engine as it currently has many flaws which need to be assessed and fixed before they continue to expand the game causing more issues to fix. It’s a bit of a vicious circle really.

All in all I think ANet were probably pushed to release the game by NCSoft even though it was not finished, but it was functional and one can only assume that from a financial standing, getting the funds in to keep the staff working to fix the problems, outweighed putting back the launch date.

Now ANet have the player base thrown into the equation, making demands and requests from all directions which they cannot keep up with as there is far too much for them to take on… It’s sad, but something’s gotta give if anything is to be done at all.

In some ways I think that ANet need some downtime on the game so they can take a big swing at fixing everything that needs fixing/updating and then bring the game back online again with a ton of new features and to have the game in a good state, ready to then focus their efforts on new content.

But that’s just my opinion.

"Last Online" in Guild Panel... PLEASE!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Coopziana.1802

Perhaps rather than creating the “Offline Timer” ANET could simply implement the, already available, system they have in place on the leaderboards.

Just adding in another Column into the guild panel with the date of the last earned Achievement Point would be more than enough.

Ok, you may worry that it’s not completely accurate… but taking into account that for each daily achievement you do you get +1 Achievement Point… I challenge someone to play the game for an hour without gaining a point. I dare say it’s near impossible unless you stand in LA and then go shopping for an hour.

The Technology is already there, ANET simply need to implement it!

As the title suggests.

I had a lot of fun unlocking 1,000 skins for the achievement. However after counting how many skins there are in total as of 21/07/2014, it looks like there are just over 3,000 skins, so I just want to ask ANET if they would consider adding another tier to it to make the maximum 2,000.

Only reason I ask is because since unlocking 1,000 I’ve lost interest in unlocking any more skins and to be honest unlocking 1/3 of the available skins wasn’t really much of a challenge!

Thoughts?

Couldn’t solo a Group Event, therefore they need to make it easier? Hmmmmm….

I think really my point is that it shouldn’t be a group event anymore as groups don’t bother. Other have said many are bugged… that sucks, which MAY or may NOT be why people aren’t bothering, I don’t know.

But if we look at Risk vs Reward (and I may be wrong here), the last time i completed one of these events all you got at the end was a harvestable Toxic Spore… Which doesn’t really constitute a group event… Lets be fair.

I would like to also point out that there are quite a few “Group Events” within the game that I can (and frequently do) solo. Which you normally get a champion chest from, which far outweighs a toxic spore or 2.

Unscrupulous guilds...?

The only reason I kick people from my guild is if they stop representing us. The only reason I do that is because we are a very large guild and I have to keep tabs on people so that I can ensure we have enough space to recruit more should anyone go inactive.

Do you have more than one toon/character? It may help you to know that Guilds are character bound, so if you switch character then you will be showing as “not representing” to that guild until you manually go into the guild panel and represent with that character.

That may be the reason why you were kicked, seemingly without reason.

SOLUTION TO THIS WHOLE MESS!

1. Leave the previous Resource items as they are (Without boosts)
2. Add ALL of them to “Black Lion Weapons Specialist”
3. The one’s without boosts cost less than one’s with boosts.
4. Offer a promotional offer on Black Lion Keys as a “Were’re sorry we messed up”
5. introduce a new set to standard Merchant NPCs who offer them with the boosts but not unlimited.

That way, everyone is happy and still has the opportunity to get unlimited through the BL-Key drops/rewards and still remains on the Gem Store for those who wanna just buy them out right.

As for the Home Instance Resource Nodes and other things people have missed due to joining the game later than everyone else, there should be something included in the game that allows people to obtain these. Maybe an update in HoM that allows you to revisit an event that will allow you to obtain the items (providing you haven’t already got them) I dunno how you’d wanna play it… But there should be a way to allow new players to catch up with the rest of us, otherwise we go around in circles again with certain players having advantages over others.

GW2 Supporter Subscription!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Coopziana.1802

Coopziana.1802

Ok hear me out!

My other half has recently abandoned the GW2 world for another one called “Final Fantasy” (this is not a Final Fantasy Advert). What actually caught my attention was the incredible amount of classes and updates the game has had since launch… Closure and then relaunch. I had to wonder how, then the other half said “it’s a subscription game so they can afford it”.

Well if that’s all it takes then I propose that ANET add in an OPTIONAL Subscription for players who want to support the games development.

Obviously these supporters will expect something in return, so I figure with each monthly payment made they should receive something nice. Perhaps just an item from the Gem Store or a unique skin designed just for supporters.

The reward you get isn’t important, the important thing is that ANET would then have the funds they needed to hire more staff to allow for faster and better patches, updates and even expansions.

So my question to you guys is:

If there was an optional subscription which would you select and why?

1. I wouldn’t become a Supporter.
2. Support with £1.00-£5.00 p/mnth
3. Support with £6.00-£10.00 p/mnth
4. Support with £11.00-£20.00 p/mnth
5. Support with £20.00 or above p/mnth

The Effects of Living Story

in Living World

Posted by: Coopziana.1802

Coopziana.1802

As the title suggests, What are the effects of the Living story having on the player base within Guild Wars 2?

Well I wanted to just throw this out on the table; Is it a good thing or are Arenanet causing people to lose interest in the game due to the limitation of the Living world?

Allow me to elaborate:
There are many Game players out there who want to be able to complete a game 100%, after all that is what gaming is all about, isn’t it? The challenge of beating the game!
So one has to wonder what effect that has on a person that has recently joined the game or in fact is simply looking into joining the game. Knowing that they have missed parts of the living story and they now have a tab in their achievements panel that can never be completed.

It has been said by Arenanet, in certain blogs, that they intend for some (if not all) the living story content to be gone forever, thus making it impossible for players who join the game at this stage, to complete the game 100%.

Further to this, there are players who have now gotten to a stage whereby they have very little else to do in the game as they have a lvl 80 of each race and have obtained a legendary weapon. All that remains for those players is to complete achievements, so it’s understandable that many players will be upset that they will have this “BLEMISH” on their achievements screen for the rest of their time in Tyria that basically says “You can never achieve 100% completion of this game” in essence (if you look at it harshly) “You Lose” and what happens when people lose at a game without the ability to go back and correct it… They quit, or simply lose interest. Thus making people less and less motivated to strive to gain achievements.

So in the end, end game players (I’d say around 75% of players, if not more) are simply losing motivation to play the living stories, myself included.

Lets look at it from a different angle:

With the release of the Aetherblade dungeon there are 2 achievements that are extremely difficult to get. “Dodge the AoE’s” and “Destroy the ship”. Now for players who have time to go through the dungeon over and over again, this may not be an issue. Though for those who are casual players, who work full time and have families to look after and only get a matter of a few hours a day to play the game, this creates a HUGE problem as it’s more and more clear that they will not gain these achievements in time.

Although I know that Arenanet are putting this content in to “Test the waters” and see how the player base reacts to it, and to give the players something to look forward to and to keep them entertained with new content.

My questions to you all are simple:

1. Is the Living story causing more harm than good, within the guild wars 2 community?
2. If you were/are joining the game now, does it put you off that you can never gain 100%?
3. Do you feel that Living story should be permanently re-playable for the achievements?
4. Do you give Living story a Thumbs up or a Thumbs down, and why?

As I said in the other thread, the introduction of the extra loot from this pick is unacceptable and irrevocably is power creep in the sense that all previous permanent tools are inferior by contrast.

This bonus effect should absolutely be removed.

I personally Don’t see it as a problem if they roll it out to ALL Players using in-game NPC methods, such as new Harvesting tier from Merchants that also provide the boosts. As long as the playing field is leveled out fairly between all players then it’s fine. HOWEVER as it currently stands, I agree with you. It should be reviewed and amendments made to either give EVERYONE the additional boost or take it away so no-one has it!

Aether path nerf...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Coopziana.1802

Coopziana.1802

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Just to clear up any misunderstandings of me being a “casual” the reason I wanted this path more active is that there are 2-3 more achievements i need from this path and then I’ve pretty much completed all achievements… bar the one’s i outright refuse to farm (like weapon master) as I will get them at some point without even trying.

Naturally, of course. I don’t want the path to be nerfed to the point where you can just waltz through without any danger of dying. Hence why in my OP is said “Tiny nerf”. I suggested it purely on the basis of getting others interested. Trust me, if it were solo-able I would have done so. The issue was I find it very difficult to find a group and as it has been stated, you need to be there at the right time to find a PUG.

Anyway, it seems that the general opinion is that the rewards should be better to get people interested. I’d be happy with that!

it would be really sad if Anet did nothing to increase the popularity of this path as it is actually a really fun and challenging path to do, just a shame it’s so hard to find a group to do it with (when compared to all the other dungeons).

I kind of agree with you about the old system of influence, whereby you gain it for doing certain tasks around the world and that influence was spent to active boost for your guild. With the new system sadly there is really no real difference between guilds anymore and guilds have nothing unique to market themselves on, for the simple fact that once you fully upgrade your guild hall you gain all the same benefits as any other guild, making it very difficult to market your guild... there needs to be some freedom put back into the game where guilds are concerned.

Sadly the OP lost me with the suggestion of Weapons Broken beyond repair... That is a rather bold statement to make. I put this to you. Can you imagine putting all that money and effort into a precursor collection and then throwing A LOT more time and money into making a legendary only to later have that legendary weapon break beyond repair... we are talking over 1,000 gold... Gone! Just like that!

If that were the case I can imagine the game would very quickly be shut down due to players simply leaving the game, I know I would!
