1. Anet’s Policy – “We talk about it when its done.” God I hate this policy. I really really hate it. Its backfired so many times already. Colored tags, ascended gear, trait revision, everything can be retraced back to this policy.
Why is it bad? Because when you want to talk about it “when its done”, and the reaction is bad, then you have two choices. Charge forward (choice mostly taken), or go back and tweak a small thing (only so far the commander colors). And in later patches, you have to change and tweak this new thing, then it was never really done, was it?This policy needs to go. Its what hampers more communication (imo), and has affected the players more negatively than positively. I blame it mostly for no more State of the Games (most of the community takes blame for this loss too), and I blame it for much of the ire that is seen today on the forums. The CDIs are nice, but once they are over, we don’t hear the finally words on whats being done till ‘its done’.
Its just bad to tie down so much information. Unbind the straps at least a little (and I don’t mean give so many vague answers!)
My best:
We can say that there is in fact a table and that some things are on it. However, we cannot confirm what kind of table there is. A pool table? Maybe. A poker table? Possibly. A card table? Well, we don’t want to comment on it, but we can say that we are very excited about the table and what may or may not be on it.
But, if I think that to know my(only) DPS is fun?
So, can I get an official answer? How it can brake game mechanic and etc. ?
Seems, Anet still don`t care about it…
1. Kindled zeal(trait) change to Unbeatable spirits(new trait) – spirit weapons are immune to damage. So, guardians will have choice between Wrathful spirits(50% damage, for PvP or PvE) and Unbeatable spirits(immune, for WvW) in grandmaster.
2. Spirit weapon Mastery and Expeditious spirit – merge in one master trait.
3. Spirits area(new adept trait) – all spirit weapons skills use ground targeting.
I really believe that such changes will make from spirit weapons a solid and competitive(to shouts or meditations) choice for guardian.
Please, support this topic. Thank you!
Guys, just stop to hype…
This is a spinoff of the economy thread to talk about RNG tactics in games in a general form.
Here’s the premise. RNG is evenly distributed on aggregate. On an individual level this means that while almost everyone falls into a reasonable range in the middle, there are outliers on each side of the distribution that are either highly rewarded or not rewarded at all. These individuals become sample cases and spotlights for experiences that maybe shouldn’t exist. We do need to be very careful about ideas that flatten the experience entirely as that quickly becomes not fun at all.
There are two concepts that have been discussed in the other thread that I’ll briefly summarize.
1. Use a specifically non-random NG. The NRNG functions similarly to a RNG, but has characteristics that either squish the distribution so that outliers exist much less or specifically manipulate a player’s experience for loot in a more complicated way that makes it feel rewarding.
2. Implement measures that counteract low-end outlier behavior inside of game design. This would be a system that is something like: If player hasn’t received a rare drop in X time send them Y tickets for random drops.
2.5: “Add secondary reward mechanisms (ie. token based system) alongside the primary RNG system; allow progress to be made even when you don’t get the result you want.”
Obviously these are hyper-simplified descriptions, but I don’t want this to get too long.
edit: added 2.5
The better way of rewarding system is to use something similar to sPvP tracks.
Really I think the OP is overreacting.
Been thinking about this patch for a while and the list of improvements, while a little underwhelming, they are all buffs and should add a little to each person’s play. Traited tomes and Meditations definitely got a nice boost.
Definitely beats nerfs.
I’d really love them to look at 3 things next patch. A signet for speed, virtue cd or maybe a total revamp of virtues to make them more interesting, and spirit weapon longevity. I really think those 3 things could lift this class quite a bit.
I don’t think the changes are terrible at all. they are quite good, but I personally would have liked to see more changes to things that really need improvement(like spirit weapons) and less changes to things that are already strong (like meditations)
This!…exactly what I want to say…
What sort of news/announcements usually comes out of game developers meet and greets?
I’m not familiar with game developers doing them, but meet and greets I have been to or heard about in other industries are usually just an informal opportunity for fans/clients to put faces to names, take photos and chat to the staff. Or if it involves celebrities of some sort (musicians, actors etc.) get stuff signed. Either way it’s not the type of event where big announcements on up-coming products would be made.
Last year Anet at Pax Prime 2013 announced Tequatl rewamp and something more.
“Date and Time: Saturday, August 30, 8:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.”
This event ended like 1 day ago. What the hell? Where are the information from this event? or nothing happened there?
I need something to do other than grind gold for items I don’t even really care about anymore. I need a long term goal.
This…the biggest problem for all veteran players…
I thought they were at PAX till i found out they were actually only having this meet and greet.
While it is nice, I was expecting something excited.
As it is over now for some hours and there is still no buzz on the net floating around it is either under NDA or there was really nothing worthwhile except some photos of their cafeteria and a smilling Colin.I hope we get anything, or I have to go into a too critical thinking, which revolves around the concept that the “anniversity” is nothing special for ANet o.O
ohhh…I have such similar feelings=((
Can`t find any news from this event =(( May be someone has something?
Death Knight !!! or…Dragonslayer…
This, is NOT a rant about the feature pack itself, so please, try to avoid being negative.
In the past few weeks I came across many players on various social media, that are just too afraid or skeptical to say something,
so I decided to speak in their and my name. The reason why I’m writing this is because I LOVE Guild Wars 2.
it’s an awesome game with many unique and interesting systems that you can’t find in other mmorpgs.
That’s exactly why I don’t understand why you are focusing on things that are not essentialy important for the game’s future and the community.Don’t get me wrong, the leveling experience IS important, however most of the upcoming features from this feature pack should have already been introduced to the game at least a year ago,
when many players were still leveling up their characters.
Today, implementing this kind of updates bothers most veteran players, especially after you told us that you’re not working
on any dungeons (or dungeon mechanics) as well as that you can’t focus on content like SAB.
It might not be so, but you’re showing us that you don’t really care much about the veteran players – or endgame in general.
Appearantly you’re focusing on new players and offer them an even better experience as they are already getting. Honestly, the leveling experience is already GREAT in gw2. It’s not hard to grasp its mechanics at all. It’s simple and logical already,
not to mention the kind community who never fails to help a beginner in need.
Leveling up is the only thing that gw2 doesn’t need to change to make the game better.
Your community never asked for simplified leveling experience as we’re aware that it’s awesome as it is. We asked for WvWs ACTUAL improvements,
We asked for new sPvP maps, we asked for Guild features and guild halls, and skill fixes, and for crying out loud, I’m not a big fan of it, but players asked for Cantha.
We are aware that we won’t get those things served on a plate as soon as we express it,
but you guys have a good picture of things that would make us play more often.
What’s even worse is that whenever we ask you about this things, you reply with “It’s on the table” and keep updating/creating things that players never mentioned. And I know what you’ll say. there’s the living story which is supposed to be endgame.
As much as it’s unique, well received (especially season 2) and interactive, it is, sadly, limited as well and it can’t compensate for everything that other free MMOs usually deliver to their players with their updates.
If you want your players to stay in this game, you have to start working on things that we will be messing with after reaching level 80. At this point most of us would also be happy if you would announce an expansion or something else that would be considered an actually big update. If you are working on something big, please AT LEAST LET US KNOW, cause at this rate, many will leave and find other MMOs to play.
Source: http://strawpoll.me/2442232/rTL;DR: Please ANET, listen to us.
Amen.
Anet actually has one of the BEST playerbase out there for a MMO.
The players of GW2 are actually willing to be patient and toyed around with, in order to somehow save the game, because the players -love- this game.Any other game, the community would have freaked out and nothing could stop the damage done. People would have left long ago and the game would bleed to death.
With GW2 though, we have a community, active, motivated and strong willed to make this game a success again and pull it away from the edge. But now we have a publisher who seems to be all to eager to push it off again. Why?
because, we don1t pay subscription fee. If this game be “pay to play”(WoW style) I would pay only for first fractal update, first future patch and may be some festivals that were at 2012…
Just end to watch skillbar. Guardian changes really sucks or feels like nothing changed…
What are you guys thought about it?Guardian
•Elite Focus – In addition to current, will now grant stability with tome skills. Each Tome will gain stability when it gains its associated boon.
•Glacial Heart – Recharged reduced to 15s, chill duraiton reduced from 4s to 3s
•Eternal Spirit – Expedeious Spirit – reduce the cooldown on spirit weapons skills
•Spirit weapons – No longer lose your spirit weapon when you activate the command ability.
•Hammer of Wisdom skill – blast finisher
•Bow of Truth – Ground targeted and can be casted at 1200 range
•Merificful intervention – Now only ground target- no shadowstep guardian
•Renewed Focus – Now classified as a mediation skill.
•Tome of Wrath – Conflgurate – damage increased by 10%
•Judgement – Cast time reduced by 1.5 sec
•Tome of CourageOP do you play a shout guardian? That might explain not being too happy with the changes, but shouts are strong in every single game mode.
I play in shouts\consecration in WvW, medi-zerker in solo or PvE.
But the main problem, in my opinion, that DEVs don`t see any other builds for guardian except shouts or medi. I don`t see any good changes for spirit weapons or condi for last 2 years…
Anet polished only builds that already good. but don`t do anything for others builds.
Just end to watch skillbar. Guardian changes really sucks or feels like nothing changed…

All those changes are important because they fix the several flaws that GW2 has early game: the lack of a sense of progression, poor tutorials, directionless, forgottable rewards and jumpy story instances that forced you to level up midway, interrupting the flow of the story.
So far, this feature patch is great for new players, but, what about the veteran players? It doesn’t seems to offer much to make us stick to the game.
More information will be released next week about features that are more suited to veteran players.
Yeah, Yeah…we already hear this. Relax, we don`t believe you anymore=)
Maybe someone can help me out here, because I just don’t understand this “feature” patch.
Since the game launched 2 years ago, it was touted as having a great leveling system, where you could go anywhere, didn’t have to do quests and could level doing pretty much anything.
The game has always had one major complaint, the lack of endgame content. There were no raids, no new areas, no endgame progression, and no new ingame skins being released.
These two things have been pretty much the two constants of the game since launch… leveling good… endgame bad…
Yet we now have spent the last 2 “feature” patches revamping the leveling system from the ground up and not introducing a single bit of endgame. I literally just spent the last 20 minutes looking for a SINGLE thread that said they should revamp leveling and I couldn’t find one person complaining about it. The biggest complaint related to leveling I could find was to undo the changes to leveling the last “feature” patch brought.
So what exactly is the point of revamping the only part of the game people almost unanimously loved and completely ignoring the areas of the game people think need the most work? It just seems like a terrible business strategy to me.
Totally agree, Anet made things that community don`t need at all…
Because even if they did we all know it’s gonna be like the living story “hard mode” rewards. Some random loot junk, geodes etc. you get 10 times more of if you spam 1 randomly with some mobs nearby.
Even increase a gold reward for hard mode completion bring people into it.
But when I look on gold reward for fractal completion at 39,49 etc…I understand you…
Please change this trait to “A torment inside”(spirit weapons cause torment on hit) and move it to grandmaster.
This change bring second condition for guardian and some utility for spirit weapons.
I understand that such types of update don`t bring any cash in your vault but…
In game already exist such things like “gambits system” and “fractal instability”. So, why it can`t be implemented into dungeons that already exist in-game?
Why you can`t create a time-runs for dungeons with better reward and ratings system? You don`t need to create new dungeons! Just make some content(…and rewards) for people who love dungeons and group PvE…
Our community want to see this in-game!
/please support this thread

GW1 with GW2 graphics = Done, best game ever made.
THE BEST!!!
1. Anet choose…
The biggest problem of CDI – community don`t feel that they works! So many CDI`s and in the end of it we every time see “We know better”© …
ANet really don`t understand what WvW players want…
Do yuo guys understand that all changes already on the table and agreed by the devs team?
So, this topic will be discussion about nothing…
… but sadly Guardians don’t really match any conditions other than burning.
Torment?
Corrected list:
Warrior – bleed, burning, confusion, torment
Elementalist – bleed, burning
Thief – bleed, poison, confusion, torment
Ranger – bleed, poison, burning, confusion
Mesmer – bleed, poison, burning, confusion, torment
Necromancer – bleed, poison, burning, torment
Engineer – bleed, poison, burning, confusion
Guardian – burningStill baffled as to why the devs added two condition based grandmasters to the only class that doesnt work at all as a condition class.
What is with blind, ice, immobility, fear?
We are talking about condition damage possibility by profession.
Warrior get acess to bleed, burning, torment and confusion(by traits)
Elementalist get acess to bleed, burning
Thief get acess to bleed, poison, torment
Ranger get acess to bleed, poison, burning
Mesmer get acess to confusion, torment
Necromancer get acess to bleed, poison, burning, torment
Engineer get acess to bleed, confusion, may be something else……and Guardian! Get acess ONLY TO BURNING???
Is it fair ANET? Where are the balance? Guardian is a worst profession to play condition – because you can`t give a 2nd condition to Guardian?
How much years we can beggin you for 2nd condition? If it makes you feel better, burning does more damage than bleed =)
The hardest burning tick will be close to 1000
25 bleeding stacks can hit for 4000…

descent condition guardian for PvE
I don’t think that the traits are the actual problem lol
Mostly for WvW, I said about PvE only like gamemod that use same game mechanics as WvW.
Ofcourse, PvE and condition is impossible for today =(
Amplified wrath, Radiant retalation, Permeating wrath – 3 very important traits for make descent condition guardian for PvE and WvW.
Amplified wrath increase burning damage(if you have full condi gear) from 750 to 1000.
Radiant retalation(also 2nd line give to us 300 condi damage) something like 2nd condition for guardian.
Permeating wrath Virtue of Justice passive effect become AoE burning(PvE\WvW all about AoE)
But, Why Anet put those traits in 3 different lines and make impossible to take it. All those traits must have to be in good build…
I hope to see in BLTC, ofcourse in gems, item(one-time ability) that can change stats(for example, from knight to cleric) on items(armor, weapon, etc.).
Plsease, support this thread =)
The devs addressed this topic multiple times.
Jon Peters addressed it here
Colin then talked about it during a four part Q&A.
The relevant quote comes from part IVComment and question about how conditions only stack to 25 and if you have more than one condition stacker that it becomes useless and if anything is being done to address it.
Colin: Currently, no. Interesting statistic for you – every condition in the game costs server bandwidth. We have to track how often the condition is running, what the duration of that condition is, and what the stack is at. So the more stacks we allow, the more expensive it gets because we’re tracking every additional stack on there. So, we could say that you could have infinite stacks. Number one, that becomes really imbalanced. But number two, it’s really expensive for us on a performance basis. That’s one of those weird, kind of backend server issues that can help make game design decisions regardless of what you want to do with it.
Comment and question on how if everyone has their own individual stack on a mob instead.
Colin: Yeah, it’s tough. It’s certainly something that we can look at. It does drastically change the way the professions play. It does say that you can no longer stack all of one type of condition. It might change the skills on each weapons if we were to do that. It would encourage more group play to a certain extent. It’s not really something that we’re talking about, but it’s an interesting idea.
Jon Peters posted again and then again and also brought how condition damage doesn’t affect objects
So long story short, they are aware that the current method is not the best.
Whether or not they plan on trying to fix it or how long it takes them to find a solution, and an individuals reaction to that amount of time, is up to them I guess.Disclaimer: Those quotes / responses are fairly aged at this time.
Thank you for the links!
this game need Addon or something like Addon content – because there are nothing to do…
What it means by play as you want is that you can do any content you like and be rewarded for it, not run the wrong builds for content.
You could have at least looked up the context of it before quoting that.
As I understand – you think that only viable builds for PvE in grp(dungeons\FoTM etc.) is power based(mostly berserk) and all others wrong builds…but If some ppl wants that condi builds can make such damage in PvE like power builds – it is bad?
Why It can`t work like in WoW\Rift\Swtor or other MMO game?
WHen we fight world boss\dungeon creatures\open world content – some dragon or something else take condition damage from me and all players who damage him? He suffer from my bleed+burning and from others players bleed+burning or poison or torment. Those condition effects should not replace each other – it’s just absurd!
I understand the state of sPvP or WvW but in PvE it need to work in another way!Trying to use conditions in open world is like trying to stick a brick in to a plug socket, you’re using it for the wrong type of content.
Wrong type of content?
State of this game – “Play as you like\want”
Even games that state about “best gear”, ’best build"(WoW etc.) never say you "this wrong type of content " for condition\DoT builds.
Why you hate on ANet?
I only said that this is broken part of game.
Why It can`t work like in WoW\Rift\Swtor or other MMO game?

I want to see this armor in game!
Guild wars 2 has so little knight armor in game…if you want armor, at least do it properly :P
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Warrior_Templar_armor
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Warrior_Platemail_armor
So, you wanna to say that ANet can only bring old-armor\weapons from GW1 with same engine and can`t create something new for them?
I want to see this armor in game!

They’re exotic weapons that let you choose their stats and are account bound until you bind them to someone. On top of that, you get that skin and the devolved “Hero” skin for them when you buy one. What, did you want them to be ascended instead?
LOL. I want a SKIN – I don`t want to buy transmutation charge to get my reward!
I feel like even throught give to us a crappy rewards Anet want to get some $…
amplified wrath is in the wrong trait line irregardless
I agree with you. Anet seems really don`t understand this…
Hey folks! I`m trying to make good WvW condi guardian for guild raid (like 15+) and blobs fighting. What do you think about this?
build #1 http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fVEQJARWlsApZoFDxVI8rNx/Ql1RYdAMA151XwKsBA-TlyCAB+pJAgjAgCXAAh2f44HAAg6A8U9nwUCmlyvpPEAkC4UpRA-w
F1 spamming(might + selfheal)+ some stability + burning on block + Purging falmes(condi removal + burning)+ radiant retalation + bleed\torment on crit + poison from Elite
2010 condi damage
3332 toughness
17355 HP
Build #2 http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fVEQJARWlsApZoFDxVI8rNR8Ql9Y0izY1BQD8oXNDA-TlyCAB+pJAgjAgCXAAh2f44HAAg6A8U9nwUCmlyvpPEAkC4UpRA-w
Less condi damage but more damage from burning + AOE burning every 3rd hit
All the last patch/update of gw2 have made the game harder. Trains are gone (queensdale and old frostforge) and dungeons are getting harder (some of the old tactics dont work anymore). People are quitting the game because best itens are almost impossible to buy and the best ways to make gold are being destroyed by gw2. From my usual group of friends to create a party (about 13 people), only 3 of them keep playing everyday since the last update. Im getting frustraded too and i just dont get what is the point of this.
thanks.
Do you realise that there are people who thoughts this game dont have any challendge from start to today? They also leave this game. GW2 is most casual MMO I have ever seen. I laught when people create some topics…
Even with new trait and 2000 condition damage I don`t feel retalation like “condition”. And if you go something like 6\6\x\x\x with guardian you don`t have any predicition to survive.
So far I’ve been able to get radiant retaliation to hit for over 300 dmg in pvp. I’m not sure the accurate numbers but I believe thats around 30-70 dmg more. Its actually a good trait but the pvp damage reduction makes it look far worse than what it should be.
I disagree with not having skills to survive if you go 6/6. I’ve been playing around with signets just to see if they can offer a remedy to the problem you mention and to a degree it does. With inscribed renewal and signet mastery you get some above average condition removal, the defense increase from signet of judgement and CC from wrath and bane signet. I want to make this known, I’m not saying signets are the answer but I’m saying try to think outside the box.
I don’t feel there will ever be a end game build that is universally good against every build. Each build will always have strengths and weaknesses, as they should.
If you play solo – signets not bad. But if you play in grp – signets is very bad. If you play guardian in good grp and don`t have stability – next time ppl will ignore you.
For most situation in game when you play guardian in group – you MUST HAVE 2 skills: Purgins Flames and Stand your ground…and Staff like second weapon ofcourse. If you dont – you are bad guardian.
P.S. I`m not talking about sPvP – most people play PvE and WvW.
