I do appreciate them pushing this out on WvW reset night, but yeah… this really sucks. At least my group has a second commander that could take over…. but now he is unable to disband his squad and the people in the squad are unable to leave.
Just fair warning to everyone, if you’re gonna tag up, it looks like you’re stuck on one map and won’t be able to log back on when you log off until this gets fixed.
From a player that only plays WvW:
I would be embarrassed if I were a developer that played Necro right now. (Although it seems pretty clear that none of them do on a regular basis)
I was very much looking forward to playing a power Reaper in HoT, but with the absurd Consume Condition and Lich Form nerfs, I’m not excited anymore. Back to Guardian for me, I guess.

If I were ANet, I’d sell them to you, but for like $8-$10 each.
…And then I wouldn’t give you any discount on the actual expansion if you decided you then wanted the rest of it.
This would allow people to buy 2-3 smaller pieces of the expansion if that’s all they really wanted, and would probably net them more $$$ in the long run.

Thought OP was just trolling… continued reading & realized OP actually wants compensation… still not sure if I believe what I just read.
Should every single one of them.
This is one of those times when ANet’s “If it seems wrong, it’s probably an exploit” rules should come into effect. These people all clearly knew this was wrong… drop the banhammer on them.
Everyone is pointing out how this affected the gold to gem transfer, but here’s why this makes me sad… I really wanted the new Noble Count Outfit. I don’t have the gold for 800 gems because I spent most of my gold, but I probably would’ve bought the gems with real money and just dumped the excess 100 gems into gold. Now, however, I wont even spend the cash on it because it will drive me absolutely insane if I end up with an unusably small number of gems that I couldn’t convert to gold or buy anything with.
So, ANet, there you go – another sale you’re missing because of this change.
Agree with everything. People that transfer multiple times for WvW are just looking for an easy win, and that’s not a satisfying reason to play a game = quit.
I agree with the OP as well for the most part, but it’s not entirely true that everyone transfers for an easy win. At one point, I bounced around to several servers, looking for a fun community until I finally found one on a T3/T4 RP server called Tarnished Coast been here for more than 2 years now
Any of the T1 servers in NA would be fine (I’m not familiar with EU). Winning amounts to 1 extra chest or greens/blues per week over second place, or 2 extra chests over 3rd. The chances of you even getting a rare item out of that 1-2 chests is tiny, let alone any item that is decent or worth any money.
I don’t know where this obsession with queues is coming from, and I’ve seen people posting things about hundreds or thousands in the T1 queues…. which is absurd. BG would have the worst queues, but outside of the first few hours after reset queues are pretty small, and generally only happen if there’s a commander with a great run going or something like garrison/EB keep is desperate for defenders.
I’m curious as to why you aren’t considering TC…? No other servers are close to strong enough to knock a currentT1 server to T2.
All 3 servers have roamers, but roaming in T1 means you are going to get run over by 20-man+ groups on a fairly regular basis unless you’re built to run away. Even the T1 roamers mostly stick to roaming parties of 3-5 (not all the time, but a lot).
From what I’ve observed (and there are exceptions to each case), BG generally runs 2-3 guild groups, JQ omniblobs each map when they can occasionally splitting into 2 groups, and TC runs with a core of 3-6 guild groups per map with one guild usually taking most of the militia players. …just depends on how you’d prefer to play. I can’t speak for the communities of JQ or BG, but TC’s is pretty cool with the occasional troll that any heavily populated server will have.
John, I kinda like your exhaustion solution as that would prevent spamming siege, but like many people have said, a lot of servers/guilds have a policy of only having the commander throw siege. This seems natural since they are the only ones that can check supply that they are the ones managing it for their group.
There are plenty of times when I come up to a structure and will throw 5 rams or 5 catapults to try and rush a capture before the enemy server can react. And there are times that I will throw down 4-5 arrow carts/ballistae to defend something if there are a lot of enemies and my group is outnumbered, but we have enough supply. We still need this capability as commanders (or as group leaders, even without a tag), so the solution we end up with must take these scenarios into account.
EDIT: I just want to add that the siege trolls that people are mentioning are so blatantly obvious that many people have screenshots and videos of these people placing and building siege, and even bragging about it. While every server probably has these trolls, we only have a couple that are such a large problem on my server, and everyone knows who they are. I feel like these specific accounts could be reprimanded by GMs without needing to invest many man-hours into determining guilt and issuing punishment.

We will be removing the timer after death before killed players are worth XP in WvW.
Thanks for the response Jessica! Glad to see this thread didn’t just go dark!
I’m sure the WvW community would be happy to share ideas to combat problems like spawn camping (maybe there could be more visibility to other exits?), or kill trading if those do become a major problem – but like many posters have said, we just haven’t seen these pop up often, if at all.
Fascinating…. we got a red response, which is awesome (Thank you, Jessica!). The community doesn’t agree that the reasons cited for this change are even remotely relevant, and they disagree in a respectful manner, and then…… no more red responses.
To be completely honest, it doesn’t seem like you guys (ANet) play enough WvW to know what the real problems are. Hopefully this adopt-a-dev program has a lot of participation on the ANet side, and offers some insight to our developers as to what is really lacking in WvW and what really needs to be fixed.
What is the reason for that mechanic?
The purpose of this mechanic has always been to mitigate spawn camping, kill trading, and as an added benefit, it also discourages botting.
The threshold of time before a player is worth WXP (and now also XP/Loot) has not changed, and is low enough that it is almost always the case that a player’s death will award WXP and loot in the time it takes for them to run from a portal keep to a nearby objective.
Spawn camping??? Isn’t that why we have 3 exits to every spawn point on every map (and more on each citadel)?
Can kill trading possibly yeild enough of a reward when you have to run from a WvW spawn point without being killed just to die to someone and trust they wont kill you next time?
Finally, if botting is a problem, can’t we treat the problem and not the symptoms?
This would leave out any small guilds or force them to run on very empty maps. I think this would kill off the fun left in wvw. EDIT: I reread your post, and there is no reason that the 3 alliance guilds should be prioritized. You’re just encouraging players to abandon their smaller wvw guilds and join into massive guilds so they can play wvw without waiting in queues.
Also, faction vs faction, as in the EotM system, would suck. For those of us that have been on our server for a long time and enjoy the higher level coordination that goes beyond simply logging onto a random map and tagging up/joining a tag, this game would no longer be worth playing. If that happened, the rest of the wvw community would jump to ESO/AA, regardless of how bad their systems are.
Like someone said above, TC so far has taken more of a wait and see what happens approach. This has been discussed internally since the announcement was made, and the best stance we’ve found so far is to simply pick a tag color that isn’t being used already and let the other tags know what you’re doing. once in a while, or when someone asks, you might clarify what your tag is doing to the map knows what’s going on.
Also, you’re never going to assign a purple commander tag to be the official karma train color, even on EotM. I tagged up on Eotm on Tuesday in purple, since it is one of our guild colors, and proceeded to roll over the two enemy zergs for the fun of it. What’s great is that the enemy servers responded by actually fighting back…. believe it or not, we had an entire EotM map actually fighting over objectives and fighting in the open field. There is much more fun to be had with the purple tag than bashing your face into doors all day, I mean karma training!
Just FYI, we have been discussing this internally on our server since the announcement was made, and still never came to an agreeable solution other than to just ask the tag when you get to the map, preferably in your server’s voice comms.
I doubt that any posts here would yield a more productive result.
Or I can just run a purple tag because it’s our main guild color, and I can completely ignore the yellow tag because I hate the color…. outside of that, I can just keep blue/red for when someone is already running purple and we need another tag on the map.
I don’t see this suggestion to have a set color for different roles actually being picked up by the general community… I don’t even see it becoming popular within each server.
I think that the refunds for anyone that has more than 3 commander tags are awesome…. if you have 2 or 3 already (like myself), then you have already paid full price or you got a 100g discount on the new price point (and you’ve already gotten to use it!).
Keep in mind, if you want to talk about “fair”, one of the things they could have done instead is refund all commander tags @100g each and just charge the 300g for an account bound tag, so every single person pays the same price for their account bound tag…
Also, it is incredibly refreshing to see ANet not only using community feedback, but for someone to drop by the WvW forums to let us know that they read what we had to say and actually cared about it… Thanks guys!
From my experience, most of the time I see people laugh is after they brought their map-blob to kill a 5-10 man group – looking at you, JQ – I do see it occasionally from roamers when we end up running into them and they realize there is nothing they can do at that point but laugh….
Once in a while, you’ll see a roamer that wants nothing more than to chase you all the way across a map and then laugh/dance on your corpse… just realize that they’re probably 14 and other than sleep, eat and school, this is the only thing they do (and their mother dresses them funny!)
On very rare occasion, I do see people actually using the /laugh emote when something funny happens and not just to taunt or disrespect other players
865+ ranks – 1 weapon box 1 armor box. magi and celestial stats.
Better luck than me. I’m at 900 and only have 1 weapon box, but at least it was a stat set I wanted, so I guess I really shouldn’t complain too much.
I think it should stay at 100g but also with an additional 10k BoH, if they also make different ones as discussed.
Why 10k Badges of Honor? I understand the desire to have experienced commanders in WvW, but surely those badges are better spent in siege to upgrade (or even exotic gear if you need it for another character).
Due to the fact they can be mass farmed from EoTM.
So why should anyone have to go to EotM to farm badges if they want to command? I get a bunch from just playing on the regular maps, but because they don’t drop as many badges, and I buy tons of siege with them, I rarely have close to 5k, let alone 10k… and that’s in T1, I can’t even imagine trying to save up that many on a low population server
Bump? this seriously needs to be put in. I HATE Pve leveling, it’s terribly boring…
I would be happy if they would just add in an option to make a character start at level 80 if you already have one. Sure it defeats the purpose of the rpg aspect of the game to an extent, but it is OPTIONAL… and you would still have to build and gear the character anyways.
EDIT: Also, yes, PvE leveling several characters just to use in WvW is a horrible experience.
I think it would be fun to do some cross-region matches. Maybe one server gets absolutely wrecked, but at the very least, it would add in some interesting new matchups.
we were having fun -.- (i wasn’t one of the 10 but i was on TS at the time) and no we didn’t want to contest the waypoint… They just had a bet who ever can live the longest
This is exactly the attitude that most griefers have. Maybe they aren’t causing problems intentionally, but they exploiting the game, and if it’s in a group, one or more of them usually end up actually harassing people, even if that wasn’t their goal to begin with. Just stay out of other server’s spawn points.
If you haven’t used voice comms on your server, you’re really missing out. Commanders can try to type as we go, but it’s not really going to be much use. I’m sure some commanders can do it, but for most of us, voice comms is the only way we’re going to relay in-fight commands.
If you can’t get on your server voice comms, that’s one thing, but if you just don’t want to that’s pretty lame tbh.
Get online, talk to people, we’re all human too (even though we might sound like robots once in a while if there are connection problems!). You can meet people, communicate so much more effectively, and really learn a lot… so unless you just absolutely can’t connect, there isn’t really a good reason not to hop online and at least listen to what’s going on.
The big reason low level characters are discouraged is because they often end up rallying enemies in zerg fights.
If you’re looking for a way to just level up in WvW, EotM is the place to go – there is usually a karma train going on, which will get you experience, wxp, badges and some money at the same time.
On the regular maps, I would suggest joining a WvW guild. While they will still prefer level 80s, some guild are absolutely fine with you running whatever you want, just be sure to ask when you’re applying or talking to their recruiters! You should try to make sure the guild is a good fit for what you want out of the game, just as they want you to be a good fit for their guild.
Come join us! We’re looking for active WvWers, fun people to play with, and anyone that wants to be part of a fun community!
Do you enjoy WvW but can’t find a dedicated group to play with? Have you been looking for more out of your WvW experience than just zerging? Are you looking for a fun group of people to join you in your quest for Legendaries, Dungeon Gear and Fractals? We are the synthesis. Dissentient, or [DIS], is a tight-knit PvX community that focuses on advanced tactics and server-wide organization in WvW. Whether you’re looking for active, organized WvW, an active dungeon running community or just a group of friends to enjoy all of what Guild Wars 2 has to offer, Dissentient is the answer.
Why did we choose Tarnished Coast as our home server? TC is known for three things: Having an active, mature and friendly community; roleplaying (outside of WvW); and never giving up, even if we’re in dead last in WvW. Tarnished Coast is a Tier 1 WvW server, we’re not too hardcore here, but we do enjoy laying a beating on Blackgate and Jade Quarry zerg blobs when they aren’t hiding in their towers. TC provides a steadfast competitive experience where WvW and PvE can meet gracefully. This is exactly what we want to emulate in Dissentient.
[DIS] Offers:
> Mature Community, average age: 22-36 (No age requirement to join)
> Small, but focused community where members are more than just numbers
> Dedicated and active Guild Forum with private WvW, PvE and PvP discussions
> Dedicated Guild Channel in TC’s 10,000 slot Server-wide Mumble (hosted by [DIS])
> WvW Commanders and Training for new members

I hope that once ANet nerfs everything into the ground, and many players decide to jump to the next new awesome game, that all of these people complaining about confusion (or whatever else) just because it killed them stay here.
It certainly would be a nice change to just have the bad and lazy players get stuck with the crap they created while the rest of us can have a game where player skill matters, and the devs actually encourage growth as a player, and they actually think before change things so all the hours I spent getting my gear haven’t been wasted…. something to hope for, I guess…
>OP
You mean “Soccer”. Football doesn’t have any teams called Manchester United.
Hahaha. I wondered about writing an NFL version featuring Bill Belichick as the main character for our trans-Atlantic friends, but figured you guys were smart enough to get it without a translation ;p
I love football of both kinds so feel free to mentally substitute whatever characters you like
This wouldn’t translate well to American Football though. – We don’t have an equivalent here to the lower leagues like the Championship, League 1 or League 2… and there is definitely no way for a non-league team team to play an NFL team!
There’s the NCAA, but players only have 6 years of maximum eligibility in the sport competing in games for 4 years (+1 redshirt year and 1 extra medical redshirt year for extreme cases only – lookup Case Keenum or Jason White if you don’t believe me!) Then there’s also the Canadian Football League and the Arena Football League where some players go that don’t end up in the NFL, both of which use different rules, a different number of players, and a field with different dimensions.
(edited by DemonCow.5328)
Great read and great point!
It sure would be nice to not have to deal with some of these massive transfers and mega-zergs, along with their ridiculous strategies that makes no sense whatsoever other than to maximize efficiency within the game’s flawed rules. Then watching another massive transfer ruin numerous matches for weeks to come before they get right back to where they were before.
I initially transferred around to find a community I really enjoyed, but now that we’ve grown into such a large population, I’m starting to notice little things here on my server and there that would’ve never been tolerated in the community I decided to call ‘home’ …nothing particularly bad, but for me at least, it’s starting to lose the appeal that drew me here in the first place.
Honestly, I love this game, but I fear this nerf is a sign of it heading in the wrong direction. Leveling a character to 80 and grinding a ton of gear only to discover that all your work was done under a false assumption, namely that the build you were grinding for would EXIST in the future, is endlessly frustrating. And it weakens my loyalty to the game. When another MMO comes along, I’m gonna be tempted to leave now. Big time.
I think in reading this you have called out the problem. If the reason you leveled a toon, and grinded a ton of gear was for the one trick (confusion) doesn’t that mean you inherently knew it was a bit OP honestly?
I didn’t level a Necro for its ability to fear and certainly didn’t level a ranger for its ability to immobilize. I did both because I enjoyed all around gameplay/mechanics.
If we wanna talk nerfs, have you ever rolled a ranger? QZ got nerfed into nothingness, spirts are a joke, traps and pets are almost worthless without specc’ing into them pretty heavily…etc but what do we do, adapt!
I for one am glad to see all the one trick pony builds getting the hammer. In WvW right now if you see a mesmer its a glamour, if you see a ele its a d/d, if you see a thief its a heartseeking hero. I love variety and my unconventional necro is proof!
While stacking Glamour fields might be “one trick” in one definition of the term, you clearly don’t grasp what this means for mesmers across the board. Regardless of what build you’re using, confusion, and it’s subsequent damage (at low or high values) is tied into mesmers balance in terms of DPS in every regard. Power/crit/shatter mesmers still apply confusion which ticks in smaller amounts, but adds to their DPS whole. Confusion based mesmers give up all their power/crit/shatter damage in exchange for those confusion ticks.
Confusion isnt a “one trick pony” for mesmers because, no matter what, confusion is in play at some point with all mesmers. It’s a mesmers condition. The only question a mesmer faces is, how much do I utilize it? The trait tree heavily supports those who decide “a lot”.
+1
I think people don’t understand this about mesmers and so it’s much easier for them to call for confusion nerfs. This nerf impacts more than just players who glamour bomb.
Also, I play in T2 which is very zergy. Nerfing a zerg-busting aoe is really rough. I’m very disappointed in this change. Obviously, there are various builds out there that are legit, but having such a huge chunk of damage getting chopped might make those not so great. I really don’t want to end up playing a portal/veil bot. Additionally, I think it is a pretty bad sign when instead of buffing classes or fixing classes, developers instead just nerf classes that aren’t busted.
Not sure which server you’re on gvaughn, but I agree, T2 is very zergy, and large fights are great sometimes, but they need a counter as well. In addition to killing a fun mesmer build, this hits engineers unnecessarily hard as well, with their pistols, toolkit and bomb kit….
I just had a nice argument in Lion’s Arch on my server (TC) with a bunch of people saying that this has been a long time coming because they keep dying to FA’s Avatar when they spam their skills… makes me feel a little embarrassed by my own servermates – I thought TCers had more fight in them and less whine.
ANet clearly has a desire to cater only to those WvW players who spam all of their skills on cooldown, run in a giant zergball, and only pay enough attention to what’s happening so that they can go on the forums and whine about whatever killed them. Absolutely pathetic…
I’m definitely looking forward to giving some of these other new games a chance (and just maybe one day, there will be a dev team that answers all the whining with “no, we’re not nerfing everything for you, get better.”)
I’m beginning to think that the major issues remaining in WvW are not fixable… not because there are no solutions but at least one of the following is true for each problem:
-The servers cannot handle it
-The devs don’t understand aspects of their game and/or player base
-Large numbers of lazy and/or bad players would complain and changes would be reverted.
I like how so many of the people here, thanking the devs, from Europe, thikn that this is the same for the US as it was for Europe before… it isn’t.
In Europe, you had to stay up late if you wanted to play at reset, and, if you had to work on Saturday, you could go, but you’d be really tired. Did this suck? Yeah.
In the US, you might be able to make it if you live on the East coast, and you get off work right at 5pm, and have a commute that takes less than an hour to get home. If you live in Central time, you might be able to make it if you take off work a little early and have a very short commute home. In Mountain Time, you cannot make it unless you leave more than an hour before work ends… it’s not gonna happen, and for Pacific Time, you have to leave nearly 2 and a half hours before the end of you day… and this is all assuming that you can actually get off work at 5pm, which generally isn’t true – most people are at work until at least 5:30 or 6pm.
ANet hasn’t made it difficult for NA players to make reset (like EU had before), they’ve made it impossible for a large number of their players.
3pm for the West coast US, 4pm for Mountain Standard, and 5pm for Central…. wow. I guess they don’t want people playing if they have jobs since the East coast is the only part of the US that will be around for reset now.
At least before it was possible for most people to get home, even though it was a little tough for everyone on pacific time.
Why can’t we reset NA servers at 6pm PST/9pm EST, and reset the EU servers at 6pm UTC? Unless I’m mistaken, that gives the vast majority of people in the US and in Europe the ability to make it to reset… it’s not like the NA servers are matched up against the EU servers, so why do they have to reset at the same time?
I’ve been playing my confusion/glamour mesmer for the last week or so, and I have been enjoying wrecking people with it.
I hopped on my engi today, and on a whim, I respecced to my flamethrower build. In a favorable turn of events, I ended up in a 1v1 against someone running nearly the exact same build I run on my mesmer. The fight lasted about 15 seconds before they were dead, and I had more than 6 stacks of confusion on me once, and 9 stacks the second time, but I ate the confusion damage to use my condition clears, and nothing else.
When you play a build, and watch what people do right against you, and what they do wrong, if you learn from it, you’ll figure out how to fight it. There were a few people that I struggled against on my mesmer, so put all of their tactics together against this mesmer (while I don’t know our relative skill levels) and I demolished them. Maybe they were much worse than me, I have no idea, but they saw me coming and had full health when the fight started. The difference between this fight and others that I’ve been in, is I knew exactly what was coming regardless of the which build the mesmer was in. I hate fighting against mesmers – it’s the reason I made one, and this was one of the first ones where I went into the fight with no question about when to use what skills.
The best counter to stealth also happens to be the best counter to everything else: experience. Go play a thief, and find some good players to fight against.
Unless you’re really attached to the way the Charr looks, or you like cultural armor, roll another race. I have a Charr warrior, and I don’t like the way any of the armor looks… I realize some people do, and I like their lore, but I would gladly buy a race change so I can look at decent fitting armor every time I use that character.
Stealth is a broken mechanism.
Arena Net give nothing against it, it is a HUGE mistake. Thief and Menser can’t lose a one vs one, if they are losing -> Stealth -> They are no more losing.
Pets/minions are a broken mechanics because they can get in the way of my attacks!
Stun and daze are broken because they can stop me from doing things!
Shadowstep/ride the lightning (and similar) are broken because I can’t keep up with those people!
Stability is a broken mechanic because my cc skills are all useless against them!
AoE attacks are broken because they can hit me when the enemy targeted someone else!
Ground targeted attacks are broken because they can hit me without line of sight!
Traps/turrets are broken because the enemy can just leave them there to attack me on their own!
Retaliation is broken because it punishes me for my enemy getting hit by my attacks!
Conditions are broken because they do damage after the fight ends, and they keep me in combat!
…do I need to go on?
One class having different mechanics from yours does not make them OP or UP simply because they may counter or be countered by what you can do. Every class need not necessarily be able to win a 1v1 against every other class, this is a team game, and some things will naturally counter others. Stealth, for example, has always countered clueless players, in every game.
I don’t even use much stealth on my mesmer because there are other things that benefit my build/playstyle more, and, on my thief, the stealth provides most of my survivability even though I don’t run a glass cannon build. When I play one of my other characters though, I have a general idea of where the thief/mesmer is while they are stealthed, what they are about to do, when they are gonna do it, and how to not die instantly to it. More experienced players than myself are still able to adapt to what I do and win most fights, less experienced players still make mistakes, and give me an opening to kill them if I execute my skills correctly.
Could they introduce a counter for stealth other than experience? Sure. Should at come at a cost? Absolutely. So, what are you willing to give up to make it balanced that you can counter the thieves’ stealth?
I would love to play multi-ball volleyball between the garrison trebs and bay wall… it would be like a WvW mini game where the first person to make a mistake dies and ends up with a repair bill.
Not replying to the OP, just to everyone in general:
If you truly think the thief, or any class/build is OP and you just can’t figure out how to beat one, play one. I guarantee you will find players that know what to do against you, then, you learn from that what you should be doing to counter that build. The game requires some planning in advance, not just rolling your face on the keyboard, and complaining enough to get something nerfed when you get beat (which is what most gamers do, while still having the audacity to actually think they are any good at the game).
ITT: “I don’t run any condition clears, and don’t pay attention to my boons/conditions anyway” and “Let’s nerf an entire build because I don’t want to adapt my playstyle to it”
Yeah, it’s a strong build. I bet you guys complaining about it would never try one of the more powerful builds for your class, because then you would be OP and that just wouldn’t be fair to the other players.
Yes, it’s true and those 3 WvW guilds were paid big bucks to transfer over. TC didn’t buy any PVE guilds.
TC didn’t buy any guilds. I’m sure some gold was donated to help with some of the transfer fees, as I’m sure any WvW guilds would do for their new server-mates, but that’s it.
Mesmer. Killing people with a confusion build just feels like trolling. Yeah, some people know how to fight you, but they’re few and far between, and some will run away. But everyone who stays to spam their skills at you is as good as dead before the fight starts.
On top of that, the build is great in a zerg vs zerg. The enemy usually either blasts away, getting destroyed by confusion, burns all of their condition clears in the first 5 seconds of the fight allowing your zergs’ other condition builds to wreck them, or tries not to attack during the confusion, allowing your zerg to freely attack them without facing retaliation.
Just another quick thing that would be awesome…. please, please, please, please, please allow me to use dyes to change the color of my weapons! I just want to be able to have some weapons that match the armor colors I like, and not just be limited to having to find the dyes to change my armor to match the weapons.
It makes sense that random creatures would naturally stand around a battlefield that often has large explosions, magic flying every which way, and large groups of people hammering, slashing, stabbing and shooting each other.
Also, I love when one of my stray projectiles hits a deer that proceeds to then run all the way through ha massive fight to attack me with its hooves (which do more damage than a sword/gun/magical bolt from half the other team).
We all know that in the real world, in the wild, once these majestic, docile beasts so much as have a rock thrown at them, or they are poked with a stick, they will go into a murderous rampage, stopping at nothing to completely destroy whoever dared to interrupt their otherwise peaceful day, as opposed to simply getting spooked by some noises and running away….
We shouldn’t replace any WvW days with this, but it would be great to have a guild vs guild game mode that could operate across servers. I’m sure that most of the WvW focused guilds, including my own, would like to call out some guilds from the other servers they are facing week in and week out in WvW, where there is no way to call in another 50 people and no way to run away.
On top of that, the maximum number of people could be agreed upon by both guilds to ensure a fair fights, and we could even offer guild merits and influence for it, along with commendations for the players that participated.
Who cares if everyone runs staff eles?
Let’s say, for example, you cut the AoE damage by half and remove the AoE cap, suddenly, staff eles (and every other AoE) are less effective against groups of less than 10 players, encouraging these sized groups, the same against groups of 10ish, and significantly more effective against groups of more than 10, which discourages zerging. Isn’t this exactly what we want?
