Dungeron Idea: Trahearne's Past

in Suggestions

Posted by: EliteZ.1682

EliteZ.1682

I think this idea would be a bit tricky to add because as far as I remember Trahearne has a different story depending on what order you choose. Trahearne has a story to explain why he is so valued by each of the 3 orders which you get to know a little about when doing the story quest on claw island (can’t remember the name of the story mission). So unless they was able to come up with a story that didn’t involve any of the 3 orders then it might be hard for them to fit it in around the lore.

I can’t believe they released the leader boards without any way of tracking where you stand on them. For ach’s I really don’t care who the top 1,000 players are, I just want to know out of every account where do I currently stand. Same with Spvp, I would must rather know my rank then who is something like 800.

Let’s say for discussion purposes that hencemen are added to the game (they seriously should never even consider adding them imo), what happens when you enter the dungeon and they all stand there in the red circles being 1 shot by the bosses power-up attacks. Now you can have it like GW1 where you can order them to go to certain points, but unless you’re going to sit there clicking them to move every time a red circle pops up around them, you’re going to be worse off with them then having a random pug who at least has the ability to move themselves.
Let’s look at fractals where you need AR to survive most bosses, they have only just add the characters AR to rangers pet’s can you imagine how long it’d be until they add it to hencemen and until they do, they’d be useless and again would make the dungeon even harder then pugging it.
Then, when and if Anet finally make hencemen slightly effective players you might as well be playing a single player game because there is nothing making you even talk to another real player. Why play an MMO (Massively MULTIPLAYER online) when you do not want to group or communicate with other players.

sPvP crashing GW2?

I don’t think my problem is the same thing, but yesterday when I was playing SPvP my game would often crash on the loading screen for foefire map. I would then get error accessing login or something when I exited the game and tried to log back in on the same character. It did it about 3-4 times yesterday, but the 3 games that I played this morning were fine so maybe it was just happening to everyone yesterday, although when I asked in guild nobody else experienced any problems. Has anyone else been having this happen?

I’m sorry but every single player in this game has the ability to deal decent amounts of damage even if they are fully specced into support. If you want your loot then start tagging mobs, why should people have to go out and risk their lives to get their kills when a guardian can stand behind a wall and cast a few shouts and get the same rewards? You get rewarded for your risk in combat, not for sitting behind everyone else pressing a few spells when they are off CD, a lot of healing spells deal damage anyway so there really is no excuse. I’ve even got loot bags of hitting a target once while they was down, is it really that hard for support players to press 1 every few seconds while still supporting their group, after all it’s an auto attack so you don’t even have to go out of your way to press it as it’ll automatically do it for you.

I’d also like to point out a “real support” player isn’t someone who just heals their allies, it’s someone who can support them by dealing with their enemies such as CC (which would count towards getting loot). A real support does not cower from a fight and sit at the back throwing out a few heals when needed.

This is like me saying It’s not fair that players with aoe can tag a lot of mobs and get 5 loot bags while I only have single target spells so can only get one. If I cared about my loot bags enough I would make sure that I tag each of the mobs, the same way that any support class can tag targets while they are healing.

But this wouldn’t just affect WvW either, think about how it would impact PvE. I can just see support characters staying out of combat on hard bosses so they don’t die while still getting kill credit from the boss because they threw in a aoe stack of might.

WvW, End of Culling and PVE?!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EliteZ.1682

EliteZ.1682

As to whether or not this resolves the WvW issue or not will remain to be seen. I personally only do WvW for the PvE Map completion(an issue for a later time).

As for the culling issue with PvE… The issue is a self-inflicted problem brought on by one very specific NON-Programing change by the powers that be…Guesting!

You want to fix the problem in PvE, simple:
One chest…per character…per day. Done! You will notice I did not say “Per Server”.

I am sure I have just incurred the wrath of the Server Hoppers, so be it. Just because you Can do a thing, does not mean you Should do a thing. Not only will this stop the people who flood our server just to get more drops then are entitled to a single server but I will again be able to actually tag an enemy before its instant untimely death.

I know the Server Hoppers feel they have the right to flood my server for the 30 seconds that it takes for the Jungle Wurm to drop, pick up the chest and Jump to the next server. I however, come from a different school of thought.

If you opened the Meta Chest on your server already, you’re done…move along…nothing to see here!

Now don’t get me wrong, this can NOT be a player imposed restriction, oh no, that will Never happen. This has to be Anet setting the restriction and allow those of us who do not glut up other servers, have fun again.

I’m sorry, but guesting is not the reason for culling in PvE, we had culling long before guesting was released, we had culling in the karka event (the worse I’ve ever experianced it) and we even have culling while standing around idle in cities like LA

But I’m guessing atleast another 3+ months until we see a fix for it in PvE which is stupid, a year after release and the game still isn’t “ready”. Anyway, you really need to fix it for every aspect of your game because it is getting a joke now. I know people that have left because of culling who don’t play WvW as it doesn’t only effect them or even effect them any worse. Culling should have never been introduced to the game, it’s clear that the game was not ready on release and still shouldn’t have been released to this day, not when you have massive game breaking issues like culling.

I was standing at the top of the stairs into the LA bank the other day and I couldn’t even render players that was stood at the bottom of the stairs and I’d guess that’s what, a 5 second run maybe 2 jumps distance? I also did the champion worm and it died before it even rendered, now that is game breaking.

T1 server lag = unplayable

in WvW

Posted by: EliteZ.1682

EliteZ.1682

The morning comes, the disconnects continue. Hopefully someone at the office is looking into this?

I seriously hope not.

I don’t want Arena Net to waste their money on kittens who decided to hoard on one server and then complain about lag.

If you guys didn’t bandwagon, or encourage others to do so, server population would be more evenly spread out and you wouldn’t have lag.

Hate to disappoint ya son, but I was born and raised in the Quarry before you were even a pixel in the mind’s eye. Here’s a tidbit o’ data for you… populations are still the same due to the cap on players allowed.

Are you under the impression that every tier has queues?

Every tier has the potential for battles large enough to cause heavy lag, queue or no queue … they simply are more likely in the upper tiers. That doesn’t make lag in the lower tiers any less annoying … only less often.

Indeed. But if you increase the server bandwidth only to fix the lag a few players experience 1-2 times a week you are wasting resources which could be put to better use elsewhere.

It’s Company 101, don’t waste resources on things that will hardly be noticeable to the consumers in favor of things that will actually make an impact on a larger scale.

That’s certainly true (I ran a very large commercial business for about 20 years). The problem is, in the ideal situation where the WvW populations were balanced across all servers and tiers and the maps were actually able to hold the originally intended capacity (roughly 500 players per map), lag would be a problem for everyone and it would occur way more than just once or twice per week. In all reality, the bandwaggoning in the upper tiers is the only reason that those of us in the lower tiers have a manageable game experience. That’s a flawed implementation.

Well this isn’t the case we face here as I have been getting skill lag even in PVE and 5-man dungeons recently, so it’s not only WvW and it’s not only the top teirs. Also, since the last patch I’ve noticed textures are taking ages to load. I can WP somewhere like DR and I wont even be able to see walls/npc’s for another 30 seconds or so and I’ve never had this problem pre-patch.

are globs of ecto going to tank?

EliteZ.1682

All I know is that every time i used up a BLK before this patch I ended up with 20-30 ectos. I’ve probably used up 10-15 kits since launch and every time was the same. Patch hits and I get 10 ectos between a kit and a half. (luck improved very slightly after my really bad run).

This seems to be to be very out of the ordinary. I’ve had very consistent average results and as a result I kept buying kits. Now i’m certainly not going to buy any more until this gets worked out. If it was just crappy luck then it’s crappy luck to you guys at Anet that you won’t be getting any more of my money. I’ll stick to cheap kits I can buy ingame if I wanted crap luck.

Really? Are you going to throw your dummy on the floor too and throw a crying fit? Jesus “I am getting bad luck in game, oh must be Anets fault so I’ll never give them money again”. Your luck has nothing to do with Anet.

Anyway, I salaved 2 rares today and got 5 ecto’s using the Black Lion Salvage Kit so I’d say the chance of ecto’s seems fine. In fact, It’s more common for me to get ecto’s then it is not to. I do Fotm most of the time I’m online which normally gives me around 5 rares which normally lands me with around 6-7 ecto’s. I have not done fotm since the patch, but as I said I got 5 ecto’s from 2 rares today so it seems perfectly fine to me. I also found an exotic but decided to sell it instead of salvage, but I have been wondering as I have a exotic from fotm, which is account bound so I can’t sell it, does exotics have a higher chance of returning ecto’s when salvaged then rares?

What I don’t get is why parts of it in the game such as TP preview, but not the whole patch? Or has TP preview been in for a few days now and I’ve just never noticed?

Also, Anet you really need to set time frames for your patches, this guessing when each of the major patches are coming out is beyond stupid now. Never have I played a game where you had to guess up to the last second when the patch is going to go live. For us living in places such as UK we get told the 26th, but it’s always actually the day after. Infact, the whole lack of information from Anet needs to be improved on a whole, as I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m getting sick of always being left in the dark.

Ok im a casualish player. I have a hectic work and social schedule that means im not sure when ill be player and when i wont.

Theres a few things I understand about my position within guild wars 2.

- I wont be getting a legendary any time soon
- I wont be the richest player or will be able to afford every piece of gear, shiny or treat i see in the game
- I will have to spend real money in order to buy bank/chars and anything else i see in the cash store i like the look of (quaggan backpack)

What im saying is i know my style of gameplay means i am limited in scope to what i can achieve within a MMO. I have accepted this. Its not a big deal as it means I can still have fun at my own pace and the game never feels like a chore or a job. I actually love that guild wars 2 allows me to play all content, because high tier raids, arenas and tournaments would also be on my list if i were still playing other MMOs.

Now, in my opinion small guilds will have to take a page out of my book. Your a small casual guild, you took the sacrifice in quantity to keep player, friendship or role player quality. You dont have to put up with morons or people you dont like in the game just because they are active more than others you like. Unfortunately a sad fact of life and anything in it is you just cant have it all.

But wait! gw2 has another option, you guys can join multiple guilds so if really want to be part of a high tier guild mission then you could all join a larger guild and play the missions together anyway. Ok so it wont buff your own guild reputation (which is something that i cant really see small and casual guilds caring about) but at least you got to have fun and do some content that wasn’t designed (unlike anything else in the current game) for 5 man guilds.

Overall, id say this entire argument is ridiculous.

So what about a group of friends that have just started playing and want to create their own guild, but don’t want to wait months to do the new content? Should they join a new guild and never get their guilds reputation up so that they can complete the guild missions within their own guild? What about those guilds that demand you rep them 100% of the time or they’ll kick you, it would be completely pointless then to keep your smaller guild as you won’t be able to use it

Your answer is join a new guild, so are none of us allowed to play the game the way we want to anymore? We have to join these big guilds if we want to see the content soon. What about in the future will GW2 never see any new PVE guilds as if they want to see the new content they will have to join big guilds? What happens when each server consists of 3-4 massive PVE guilds, then the whole idea of guilds are basically nothing. The idea of a guild is so you can play with the people you want to play with, not be forced into joining another guild if you want to partake in any of the new guild content.

Anet created these new missions to be open world missions so that any other people playing in that area can join therefore making it more accessible to smaller guilds. What would be the point in that to then turn around and say you basically have to join a new guild if you want to see the content any time soon.

Not really because you are still essentially screwing over many guilds. So many other people who have responded notice the direct threat with this patch. Small guilds will not be able to do any of this content period -

Guild Missions will require large amounts of Influence
Large amount of players online at all times

The small guilds will never raise up enough influence, and they will not have enough players online/active to participate in the activities. This is gating many players, forcing them to join different guilds if they want to do these quests, and because of the rewards they will abandon the small/medium sized guilds practically instantly.

To be very blunt here, this up and coming patch is a dagger in the backs of many players – and needs to be stopped.

Let’s see. 36500 influence is needed to get Art of War 5.

The conversion between gold and influence is exactly 20c/influence.

So in other words, to get 36,500 influence, it costs exactly 730,000 coppers which is 73 gold.

Let’s assume we have here a very small guild. 5 active members.

If each pays their equivalent share of work, that would be ~15g per person. That’s not a lot. 3 CoF path 1 runs already generates ~2 gold/person and only takes half an hour.

Personally, I’d pay that much for the content I will receive. In game speaking of course.

yeah I really can’t justify paying 15 of my hard earned gold to play a mission that’s probably gonna take 10 minutes and, given the sorry state of rewards in this game, will compensate you little to nothing at all.

Cheaper waypoint costs means nothing to the person who realizes a simple dungeon takes care of any and all WP costs for that day, and then some.

So 73 gold? Each guild participant best get an ascended piece of their choosing then. No? Then I’ll hold on to my money thanks.

To get the tree started, 15g is a pretty good investment, so your opinion is as worthless as mine. However, if 15g isn’t spent on a guild expansion, it’d be spent on personal expansion (eg. new inventory space), or worse, wasted on items to be flushed down the Mystic Toilet.

Oh, and it’s permanent content, not 15g/run content. Personally, I’d put my money on things for keep. On the big scope of things, I’d say it’s a pretty kitten good investment.

If I had 15g I’d take a screenshot & frame it! The most I’ve had on me after training & waypoint hopping is 6g. Thats over x2 80s and 5 other alts, the lowest of which is level 50.
The loot drops suck (but thats another thread/post/story), dungeons are hatful “die & runs!”, so making cash is abit nasty atm.
And no I can’t afford to buy gems for gold, I’m married! = no cash!

6g over 8 characters? That’s painful. I did fotm yesterday and got 5 rares, 2 cores and 1 exotic. Ended up making atleast 75+ from trash loot after selling it all and salvaged the rares to get (what I think it was) 7 ecto’s. I don’t see why people moan about making money so much, I’ve got 230g (granted I sold a precursor for 200g) but even before that I’ve spent 40gish on extra character slots as well as buying T3 for my warrior which as you most likely know is 119g. So even withoutm selling a precursor I would have still made a total of 200g+ and no I don’t do this “playing the TP” stuff, I earn my money through what I enjoy, dungeons.
I’m not trying to show off or say loot is amazing in this game, I just wonder how people can have so little. Lvling up with my friends, I had a friend that never seemed to get over 3g and struggled to buy his books, but I had around 10g by the time I had to buy my last book. My advice to people that stuggle with money, pick up everything and sell it to the vendors, unless it sells for more on the TP, but I don’t even check TP unless it’s rare or higher.

My biggest concern about guild missions, is the lack of information that we have about them. I’m sorry, but making a thread so we can voice our concerns after a blog post and 4 days before launch just shows the lack of information we get here from Anet.
Yes, say you don’t like giving information out because it might not be solid, but you’ve made a blog post (which gave very little information about it, just a lot of talking about what Anet plan to do) so i’m sure that they are set it stone by now. I mean even if we voice our opinion here and you decide, actually that’s much better then what we have at the moment, you wouldn’t even have the time to change it. But had you told us about this atleast 1-2 weeks ago when we knew guild missions was coming then any changes needing to be made would have been possible as well as have a better understanding of what is to come.

All I know about these missions is that there are 5 different types and you get them through unlocking them in the guild upgrades. I don’t have any information on how many different puzzles, events, there is, I don’t have any information about what the puzzles might include besides being a puzzle, all I know about guild rush is that some chickens was running through a cave on your video.

How about telling us actual information about it? Like how many members will we need? Are they actaully going to be a challange, or another zerg like 90% of the game currently is? Are we actually going to have to think and use our brains to over come these guild missions Or can we just pug 30 random people who have no idea what they’re doing and still finish the mission without breaking a sweat? Is there anything that only the guild can do or can every guild mission get hijacked by a random group of pugs waiting to leech off other guilds? What kind of “personal rewards” are we going to see, more crappy green items from a chest or are we going to see rewarding gear for what you call these difficult guild missions.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m getting tired of Anets lack of communication and information displayed in their communication. 50% of the blog post about guild missions are about Anets plan for the future, we get a a line or two about each of the different missions that provide very little information about the guild mission. We always have to wait until the patch goes live to actually find out information about the patch or to work it out for ourselves in game.

Said who? As far as I’m aware Anet have always said they have no intention of making legendary armor

“You’ll also see more Legendary items in the future and an update to our existing Legendary weapons.” – Linsey Murdock

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/linsey-murdock-unveils-new-high-end-ascended-gear/

Really? Asnwer me this, where on that blog does it say anything about legendary armor? It says legenerday items, nothing about armor and therefore they may only add more legendary weapons into the game. Also, if they do intend to add any legendary armor into the game then it won’t be untill after ascended armor is out and therefore will be a very long time away. Should I not buy exotic armor now because in the future ascended armor will be released?

Look, if people can’t afford T3 then don’t use it, it’s that simple. Legendary weapons cost over 1k gold, but that’s okay just because it’s “legendary”.

Simple, actually.

Lindsay’s post talks about “Legendary gear” and “Legendary weapons”. If you take that as a premise for non-weapon Legendary gear in the future, then you’re left with accessories and armor. Legendaries are all about the skins, so accessories, other than back pieces, are out of the discussion.

So it’d only really make sense for it to be armor or back pieces. Or both.

And honestly, the Cultural armor is fine as it is. Games like these need things that are outrageously expensive so that the specific demographic can feel like there’s a goal to work towards.

No, it talks about the current legendary weapons, that doesn’t mean when they say add more “gear” that they’re not going to add more weapons just because they called it gear. There is still nothing to suggest that we will ever get legendary armor in the game, unless you really want to believe adding more “gear” means armor. They said that they add new gear in fotm (not including the ascended stuff you buy), which turned out to be fractal weapons, no armor, just weapons.
Even if they do add legendary armor down the line, that’s not a reason to make T3 so stupidly easy to obtain like all the other armors just because one day there might be a better looking set out.

And how can we tell if that lvl 35 is skilled? How can we tell if that lvl 80 is skilled? Should I ask him “Hello, are you skilled enough to run the dungeon and know what you’re doing?” How easily could that person lie and say “Yeah done it hundreds of times” when in fact they don’t have a clue.

You can tell by allowing them into your party and travelling with them. Their skill will become apparent. Then, after the run, you can choose to continue with the player or not. Never during. And not before, either.

I am not saying that I only invite lvl 80’s because I don’t, unless I’ve always been more then capaible of runing the below 80 dungeons under lvl 80 so I don’t see why others couldn’t. I’m just saying this as to the way I see it and why others might not want to invite low lvls.

Anyway, you don’t understand where I’m coming from, so i’ll try to explain again. If I am forming a group for AC and I have one spot left but have two people wanting to join, the first is a lvl 35 and the second is a lvl 80. Unless I give them a “trial” to see which of the two has the best skill I can’t invite the best skilled player. It might be the lvl 80 but it might be the lvl 35, therefore with only knowing their name, possibly armor and achievement points, the player that is most likely going to perform better will be the lvl 80 because of the reasons I stated in my other post.

Yes, if I only have 1 lvl 35 asking to join the last slot I’ll happily invite them, if they turn out to be a noob then I’ll just kick them after the dungeon and not group with them again. Same goes if I invite a lvl 80 and they turn out to not have a clue, I’ll just try and remember their name so I don’t party with them in the future.

I remember when I was running AC once and had a lvl 35 ele who shouted and tried to abuse me because he swore blind he didn’t have a spell called “Ice Bow” and ended up afking during fights because he thought he was smart which meant we had to kick and find another player. Now had that ele been lvl 80 and had more experiance with his class to actually know what all of his spells are, then none of that would have happened.

You’d be wrong if you say it wouldn’t have happened. I’ve been in groups running SE, one was a guardian and he refused to use wall of reflection when asked. Me? My playstyle is “It doesn’t matter, you can make it work” and I’m not going out of my way to make sure the mesmer and/or guardian are using reflections on the golem trio on path 1…because it’s doable without. But if they were to use that stuff, it’d make the fight a whole lot easier and if the is smart enough, they’ll learn it themselves and swap to the utilities best suited for the situation. If they don’t? -Shrug- you can do it without. Same with the example you mentioned, you don’t need ice bows unless you want to solo it…and even solo, you don’t need ice bows…but going afk randomly without a word, yeah…-Kick-.

I prefer to let people willingly contribute what they have rather than demanding they do what I tell them…but that’s starting to go off topic.

The difference between my example and yours is that the ele didn’t even know about the spell. Atleast your guardian knew about the spell but refused to use it, the ele in my group started raging at everyone becasue we had 3 lvl 35’s and was back before burrows got patched to be easier to hit and it was like our 5/6th try on the burrows. So we simply asked the ele to use ice bow to make it easier, but he swore he never had a spell called that which made him act like a jack kitten and go afk during fights even when he wasn’t afk he just didn’t like us telling him ele’s have a spell that he swore they didn’t. Even at lvl 35 I expect a player to know what all of his spells are.

Because a level 80 is more useful than someone under level 80. Plain and simple. No matter what a sub 80 can do, a level 80 can do it better.

If you don’t like it then stop complaining about what others are doing with their groups, and form your own.

Yes and no. Yes, an 80 can do more than a sub-80. This does not mean that they will. Gear and level is not all that matters. Skill and familiarity matters more. I’ve seen a level 35 non-warrior (I forget the class) outperform a level 80 warrior in AC.

I am firmly against this ‘you must be 80’ attitude. I find it to be elitist and shunning of potentially perfectly good players. If you want your speed-runs to be 80 only, that is fine. But insisting that all players need be 80 for dungeons is false.

Atleast if you get a lvl 80 and he isn’t the best skilled, it wont be too much of an issue as they will make up for their lack of skill by their traits/gear ect. Where as if you get a lvl 35 who doesn’t know what his doing, but also dies in a single shot who would you prefer to have? Yes a lvl 35 can out perform a lvl 80, but without watching both of them play, there is no way no tell which is going to be better. Therefore, you go with the most liekly choice, the lvl 80 as they will have better gear, traits and most likely have more experiance with their class and the game as they’ve got a lvl 80 where the lvl 35 might be someone who’s been playing for a week.

Anyway, I have only every come across this once when a group told me I needed atleast 10 AR for lvl 10 fractal, even though i’m on lvl 19 with my main who has no AR and i’ve done lvl 12 fractal on my lvl 80 who doesn’t have a single exotic item. Apart from them I’ve never had any problems, in fact as soon as my guardian hit lvl 35 I lvled her to lvl 80 from exp dungeons and personal story quests only and never came across a group that said “sorry you’re too low lvl”.

It’s really not as bad as people make it out to be, many people do say 80 only, or you must have said gear or said stats, However, there are just as much, if not, more people who wouldn’t give a second thought to your lvl, gear, stats, traits, build, skills or anything else.

The “we earned it this way” people forget something big, this is an MMO, it must change if what it reflects is not what it should be.

Should those of us that finished the original glitched HotW dungeoun demand everyone else have their rewards removed for getting to play the “easy” version? (if you did not know, the first month the game was live p2 and p3 of HotW had the underwater bosses doing double the damage they do now per hit)

/sarcasm on

I mean, fair is fair right? We suffered through it, completed it, yet here a patch comes through and makes it easier. Refund us in some way for accomplishing what all these sissies couldn’t!

/sarcasm off

Seriously people, you are basically saying that anything that any individual has accomplished should never be changed even if it is broken and should be fixed or be made more obtainable. Which is everything in the game before the 4th patch went live almost.

Those complaining about uniqueness, grow up and look around…you are only unique if you mix/match your armor in a unique way. Wearing an entire set of the armor…you are one of the crowd. This isn’t prestigious armor by any means…all it shows is you were willing to grind yourself silly to afford it. At any point in LA you will see 10+ people wearing T3 (usually much more honestly)…if this was prestigious armor you would be lucky to see one. Prestigious armor would have a number limit in place, only so many people can get it before it will no longer be available…anything else and it is no longer prestigious, it is nigh always a grind or luck based (precursors for legendaries fit this deffinition perfectly too).

As for the “I want to be a special snowflake” crowd…how you dye the armor will be more unique than the armor itself unless you mix and match peices from multiple sets, and anyone mix and matching will admit to seeing people copy them if they get a good look after a few days of running around.

Yes and Anet should lower the cost of legendaries to 10g now because they are only for those that want to look “unique”, but I see over 5 people in LA with a legendary now so they are way past looking unique anymore. I mean if I could dye half of my twilight to orange then yes i’d pay 2k gold, but as every other person using twilight will look the same, It’s only worth 10g now. Hell I might aswell stick to the pearl greatsword as I see almost everyone using that.

They’ve already said that this is somthing they would like to add further down the line, they just have more important issues to work on first.

However, there is a number of different websites that allows you to create, save and view builds so having a bad memory doesn’t really mean you’ll have a bad time, you’ll just have to save your builds externally. This is annoying yes, but I think we can all agree there are more important issues that need working on before.
Furthermore, if those websites are not good enough, then you can always write down your builds in notepad or on paper for you to copy.

Firstly, I’d like to say how great it is to finally have the preview add for trading post, it’s been a much awaited feature since the very start, it’s good to see that you’ve got that working and it’s coming soon. However, now that you have that sorted, is there any chance that we are going to be able to preview two weapons any time in the near future? There is nothing worse then trying to see that two weapons look like together (Such as a sword/axe ect with a shield/warhorn) but can’t as you can only preview one at a time. Obviously I don’t expect a “Yes that will be released <date>”, but just a “Yes we are working on that” or atleast “We plan to add that in the future”

Finally, they snuck it into the update list, is right. I wasn’t referring to the game, so obviously it wasn’t snuck into the game, I was referring to the features list. Therefore, snuck is correct, as in “they snuck (past tense) the preview feature into the update list”.

Glad I could clear that up for you.

Actually they wrote a facebook post and twitter post about the new trading post preview, so I wouldn’t really say they “snuck” it in at all. In fact they advertised it for those that are willing to look.

Dungeons favouring ranged combat.

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

EliteZ.1682

The issue that I have with dungeons/fotm is that while it is possible to melee while you have your long CD’s and full edurance, once they are gone you’re left kiting the mob most of the time. Now I agree with what everyone else has said that it depends on your group, but this makes it much harder for pugs. I’m not in a massive guild therefore I have to pug a few fotm and most of the time I’m teamed up with 4/5 ranged leaving me the only melee. This means 90% of mobs will always target me over any other members of the group (Besides Mossman, he seems to only care about ranged classes) so when my damage migration is on CD, I’m left kiting the mob which is boring game play to me. I don’t like playing range, I’ve always been a melee class, range just bores me but with GW2 I feel like I’m forced into it.

I feel as though fights in fotm especailly their agony skills are simply anti-melee spells, most of them can be avoided by being out of range (So I see many melee characters stay ranged throughout the whole of those fights just to be on the safe side) which does give range a much higher advantage over melee. Especailly as mentioned to players that are not “masters of their class”.
I remember when one of my friends first reached lvl 10 in fotm and he said “lvl 10+ is basically kiting the boss to avoid agony”. Is this really the way Anet want it to be for people? Yes I’m melee and I stay melee even though it is harder that’s how I prefer to play, but for those players that have not quite mastered their class yet, have slight lag or don’t have the best reaction times to always avoid melee ranged damage you’re basically forcing them into playing ranged to be able to stay alive (hence why you do see most pugs playing range). I mean look at the champion rabbit, if a pug walks upto the rabbit gets one shot, his going to switch to range just to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Melee is not impossible, but the way most boss fights are at the moment, it’s so much more appealing and easier to just go ranged.

Not Doing Them Anymore(Personal Stories)

EliteZ.1682

I’ve got 2 lvl 80’s at the arah story mission (Not doing the dungeons untill Anet release their third novel and I get to read that before doing SM of all the dungeon in the oder from AC-Arah), I also have a lvl 42 Necro and a 26 Theif. I’ve personally never came across a personal story quest that i’ve not been able to complete, although I know someone that had a very different experiance of personal story missions and had to get help in a few of his missions in order to complete them so I can see why people do get stuck. Maybe it’s because my two characters at 80 are warrior and guardian, as I admit playing with my theif does if more of a kiting game, which is another issue I have with the game, but that’s for another day.

From my experiances, the difficulty of story missions are all over the place, you have some that are so easy you can do it naked, yet you have some that you have to kite 99% of the time if you want to have any chance of staying alive. There are some missions at higher lvls that are so much easier then the low lvl missions, it doesn’t feel like the missions scale with your lvl at all, instead it’s just different missions have their own difficulty. This may not be the case, but as I said, from my experiance this is how I felt. Didn’t stop me from getting to Arah and enjoying the quests though (apart from the cutscenes I really hope you change that in the future Anet), to the OP just try and tackle the missions in a different manner. Try and kite more, try and pull mobs from groups on their own and slowly kill them off one by one.
I remember the mission where you kill that champion destroyer after you choose to aid the skrit, that missions was deadly, I had to use my bow to pull each mob at a time untill I killed them all.

Revive Daily, Aggroing Mobs into Players

EliteZ.1682

The problem is that not only is this incredibly rude, your armor still gets damaged because you’re considered in combat. So while someone is purposely killing you while you went off to get a drink or what have you, you’re paying for it in silver.

On top of that, yesterday while leveling in The Blood Fields with some guild mates, we were getting yelled at for killing the skelks that were attacking the NPCs. All we wanted was to complete our renown heart and we ended up being harassed by level 80 players.

I don’t mind this daily requirement. What I do mind is the attitude people are developing because of it. It’s seriously not that hard to go run fractals or a dungeon or two and complete that part of the daily.

1.) If you don’t want to be attacked my a griefing player pulling mobs into you, then you should then you shouldn’t leave your toon unattended.

2.) Exactly how do you get yelled at in a game without vocal communication? It’s not like you have to pay attention to those idiots.

3.) As for getting my daily done in Fractals or a dungeon… I don’t tell you how to play, don’t tell me how to play. I have neither the time or desire to spend hours finding, coordinating and completing one or two dungeons per day – especially after working all day, dealing with family needs, fixing dinner and children issues. I want to chill out and relax with a game.

Your number 1 is don’t go afk, but you should be able to go AFK in a zone for 1-3 mins without being killed. All they are saying is that the daily encourages this kind of behaviour instead of preventing it in a game that anet try and make their players work together. Players should be able to feel safe to go afk for a few seconds in areas that mobs are not able to aggro onto you unless pulled to you, just becaue a player is afk does not give another player the right to get them killed just so they can res them. I could leave my house door open, yes it would be my own fault, but would that give somone the right to enter the house and take my items?

Mounts? What on earth?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EliteZ.1682

EliteZ.1682

Lack of mounts is one of the reasons I absolutely hate traveling in GW2. Get rid of 90% of all waypoints and give us mounts. Then we’ll talk about exploration.

I don’t think I understand. Why do you hate traveling, and how would mounts do more to alleviate that than waypoints already do? The only difference I see is that waypoints are instantaneous but have to be discovered first. Do you not like to discover them? Is that why you want to discuss exploration?

Or do you just want to move faster? If so, why? This game is beautiful; I love to slow down and appreciate it. (Also, “exploration” would be over pretty quickly if we could all zip around like stylish blue hedgehogs.)
It feels like there’s so much more to the game than going from Point A to Point B. I don’t think I’ve ever sat down at my keyboard in GW2 and thought, “I’m going to go to that spot, way over there! I’ll run to it as fast as I can,” though I can’t say the same about GW1. When I explore in GW2, it’s more like, “What’s over there? I’m going to find out!” It’s not about the destination in GW2; it’s the journey.

If you absolutely must go faster, then try a speed-boosting skill. Rangers, thieves, elementalists, and necromancers all have a 25% speed boost signet, and I’m pretty sure the other classes all have some form of swiftness (+33% movement speed). Would a mount provide some kind of utility aside from speed boosts? What would they do in combat? It seems like the only thing they could do is complicate things.

Or do you mean something more akin to the sand wurms in GW1? I don’t know about anyone else, but for me, the novelty of riding in a wurm wore off pretty quickly.

If you simply want some creature to accompany you everywhere you go, try a miniature. Or a pet, a minion, a spirit weapon… Or another player.

From what I see, there just isn’t a reason anyone needs to ride something in this game. Am I missing something? Is there some other reason to want a mount in GW2?

People like you make me laugh and cause my brain to hurt thinking about what’s going through your mind, sorry, but seriously?

Waypoints are a better way of exploring the world because it takes you there instantly, Wtf? How can that even be possible. So, me spending 5 mins running through orr thinking “Oh wow that looks epic over there, i’ll head there now” is exploring the game less then me saying “I just spend 2s to travel here instantly and everything that is between that waypoint and this waypoint, was just skipped. So sorry anet, but I just missed that beautiful view you created, I just skipped past that amazing event you spent hours creating and testing, but hey it’s okay because I get to explore your loading screens, just not your maps.”

Anet say they can go back and add more events, well you have to find the events first, how are you going to manage that when you’re waypointing everywhere through the game? Will the loading screen tell me there is a new event in a hidden part of the map that no waypoint will take me near? No, I didn’t think so, but atleast if I have to run past that area on foot, or on a mount I will have a much greater chance of exploring that area.

Part of your comment was "When I explore in GW2, it’s more like, “What’s over there? I’m going to find out!” It’s not about the destination in GW2; it’s the journey. " So tell me, when am I suppose to think “Hey what’s over there”? When i’m on the loading screen? When i’m opening my map to select the waypoint I want to travel to? Maybe after i’ve just skipped that map completely to get the the area south of that place.

Now i’m not saying if mounts should be in this game or not, but the fact that they shouldn’t because it takes away exploration in the game is stupid. Even having a mount with 75% increases speed is going to be more exploration then 30 seconds in a loading screen.

But add mounts to the game, just make them like the riding broom, make them cosmetic. The idea that my character can run across the whole of tyria on foot without any rests starts to hurt my feet, let alone my poor warriors feet.

HUGE GW2 Redesign Concept Collection

EliteZ.1682

After about the first page I couldn’t bare read any more of this “Give me what I want” post.

I’d just like to say, most of the “improvements” you say are beyond Anets powers due to technology, not because they wan’t their game to be horrible. You talked about weather, you basically had the same idea for every areas apart from, fog, fog, smoke, fog. How can they make “crystal clean rain”, “Acid raid”, I don’t think they have the power to refine rain so detailed. I may be wrong, but I doubt it.

Then, onto the other 75% of the ideas that I read, I know you said you had been writing this for “years” (Though how you can redesign the game since eotn when you had no idea how it was going to be ), but you could atleast not post the stuff in this topic that has already been confirmed by Anet that it will happen at some point or even worse is already in the game. Your whole dungeon redesign, isn’t a redesign at all. It’s a different story and that’s all. The end boss ideas you had are the same as most dungeons, you choose a patch and each path fights the boss in a different way, or it has different spells. If anet created the dungeon you have in mind and made P1 create the shield, P2 use the spell to infuse the shield, P3 to create the dome and P4 to cause damging light that’s how it would be.

And then you talk about how you can’t “be the hero you want to be” because balance issues, seriously how is this a redesign? It’s a case of class balancing that’s been in every single MMO. Your “redesign idea” of this is the same thing that Anet have already said they are looking at, making less powerful builds more powerful. The whole Gemstore will get done when more items are created, but they are not going to add little cosmetic items to the gemstore when they have important gameplay issues to work on.

Your idea of more weapons, more armors again will be add in time. Do you think they are going to add new gear every week? Just give them time and yes they will add new armor and weapon skins. They add a few new ones into the fotm dungeon.

Anyway, I can’t comment on any more as that’s as far as I got, but this post is a “I want this, so give me this” post. The only idea that I read that i agree with (that I know is not already being worked on, or I already know isn’t coming in the future) is parts of the weather idea. Having storms would be great, maybe they could even give buffs, debuffs depending on what area you are in.

[Cultural Armorsmith] Price reduction!?

“Gold Sinks” in this game far outstrip gold supply.

So untrue.

Those factors you listed have so very little impact on gold-supply.
Gold can be produced at alarming rates simply by farming trash mobs and dungeons that drop whites/blues/greens that sell for a tidy-profit. People are constantly selling trash items to NPCs, and there’s no diminished returns on that.

While the Cultural Armor should be exotic to match the price, it is only because the price was a poor match to the item-tier from the beginning.

It has nothing to do with gold-sinks. It sickens me to see players constantly try to debunk the “gold sink” concept any way they can.

/shrug. True for me since nothing I can do in this game, on my account, produces an “alarming” amount of gold. Or a “modest” amount either.

I’ve played MMOs for 10 years. Among them were SWG and EQ2, so I don’t need lectures on mudflation or the need for gold sinks. What I do need is a reasonable way to earn income, pay the sinks, and have a modest gain in my bank. That isn’t happening. I cannot visualize having 30 gold to pay for anything.

And.. enlighten me. You state that “alarming” amounts of gold can be had by selling drops, including trash loot, and yet maintain that the two factors I listed, DR and overall poor drop rates, don’t effect that? How do I sell items I don’t get? I’m trying to wrap my logic around that one.

And.. enlighten me. You state that “alarming” amounts of gold can be had by selling drops, including trash loot, and yet maintain that the two factors I listed, DR and overall poor drop rates, don’t effect that? How do I sell items I don’t get? I’m trying to wrap my logic around that one.

You never get loot from drops? Dam poor man, I mean i know exotics and rares don’t drop too often, but no drops at all? …. Just because an item is white, blue or green means you can’t sell it? You get a lot of them and they all start to add up, yes farm fotm and you can make fast money easily same with most other dungeons.
I took a break shortly after new years after spending 30g on 3 character slots (while it was on the new years deal) which took me to around 175g and started playing again around the 20th-28th and now have around 215g. That’s been from form, dungeos, wvw and doing my daily each day, I play normally for 3-4 hours max a day (if that). So I’ve managed to earn about 40g just playing the game. Now if I can do it, I don’t see why the rest of you moan about it. Oh, and I also spent 130g on getting my T3 for my warrior and just to put it out there, I have never “farmed” this game nor have I ever played the TP for money. Every single copper of my money has been from playing the game, not spending 5 hours farming a single event because i’m so money hungry I don’t even care about the game or having fun.

I agree, especially in FoTM where you have to actually save the tokens for the higher items like the gift and the back slot. Having 6 bag spaces being filled with fotm tokens is just over the top, atleast if you’re not going to allow stacks to be larger add a tokens section to the collections tab so we can store stacks we are not using without filling up our bank slots. However, I don’t really see this changing as the more items we have to store in our bank or bags, the more money Anet will earn through people buying extra bag and bank slots with gems.

I laugh at people that struggle with the dodging daily, it basically says you suck.
I could probably make a list of people NOT to invite to dungeons

The only new daily I don’t like is healer, the Charr area is filled with dying soldiers and I’m certain a lot of people are not aware of that.

But the QQers are normally the people who get what they want. I personally didn’t see the need for gear better than exsotics. But people QQ ed about it as you put it. And look what happened. So maybe it’s not as pointless after all?

As Anet stated that they intended to release ascended items for release but didn’t as they wasn’t ready, I wouldn’t really say QQ’ers was the reason it was put into the game

i agree i also honestly feel like once i hit level 80 i should not be scaled so far down to go do areas i missed before. i understand those areas are designed for that level but a few things
1. i still have to kill the same stuff to do those quests there doing it faster wont hurt, it fact it will make it more fun feeling so powerfull and then leaving to see you are not top dog.
2. there is no mounts so being a high level in a low level zone is kinda pointless as in i still have to walk / run to every waypoint (sooooo lame) and
3. “lower levels may want you to help them with their quests while you are there…” so what i dont want to help them and if i do awesome for them they get a quest done faster and have to figure out how to make up for the loss of exp on their own and lastly
4. i still have just as much chance of getting a cool level 80ish item from wooden chests as i do from mobs it seems so why would i be scaled down to level 15 to get a level 80 rare gratesword? scaleing is bad and it hurts the fun factor of people who dont have all day everyday to play this game (some of us have jobs and lives and significant others who dont allow for “hardcore” time dedication to grind as much as this game demands from time to time)

Yes because 1 shotting everything mob that is a lower lvl to you is so fun, I mean, maybe for the first 5-10 kills it’d feel like “Look how powerful I am” but after spending 90% of map complete runing around 1 shotting mobs I think i’d be ready to give up. Atleast scaling makes it feel more like you’re playing the game not just zooming around without any challange at all to give you something to do.

Onto OP, Hard doesn’t mean fun, nor does easy make things any more fun. However, by making challenges harder, it makes them longer and therefore you wont get bored of it so quick. It also gives a much greater sense of achivement and reward when you finally complete something that was challenging instead of “oh yeah I just soloed that without struggling, no biggie”. Let’s take dungeons, if dungeons took 5 mins do you really think that’d be fun? Or would you get so bored of it after runing it 5000 times that you never want to step foot in the dungeon ever again. People already moan that there isn’t enough “end game” in the game because they’ve already done most things, to make them even easier to do would mean people run out of things to do much faster then if it took them longer.

I’m sorry, but if you want ascended amulet on every single one of your characters then you can’t expect them all instandly, shall we all moan “OMG NERf LEGENDARY WEAPONS BECAUSE I DON’T WANT TO PAY ANOTHER 1K+ ON MY SECOND CHARACTER”… No. If you have more then one character then buy it for the most played character first, it’s not like all your other charactes are going to get one shot or seriously underpowered because they have to wait another month to get their amulet. Why do people always have to have everything handed to them on a plate.

Anyway, if they was to add this idea so they are all character bound i’d imagine that they would also increase the price of the items to make them more harder to get, as ascended items are suppose to harder to get then exotics. If they made them character bound they wouldn’t want people to get all their ascended gear within one month of the feature being released so that people start moaning it’s pointless now.

When fotm first came out peole raged that it was took too long to get the rewards, now I see people moan about how they have everything they need and wish they had a way to get new rewards.

Should They Add Rifting In The Game?

in Suggestions

Posted by: EliteZ.1682

EliteZ.1682

I’m sorry but i’m failing to see any point in this idea at all.

So basically, you want people to raid a different server to randomly kill people that are runing around on their own questing. Now I see a lot of people moan “Remove PvE from WvW”, so how on earth would adding PvP into world PvE make PvP players anymore happy then they are with WvW? It wouldn’t, PvPers moan they don’t want the two mixed together, so making the two even more combined so that everywhere in the game besides SPvP is PvPvE. Rifiting is a much smaller, worse, idea of WvW the only difference is that it has it’s own seperate map.

Now let’s get onto why I expect this to not even make it into Anet’s discussions
1. Everything that Anet have done for this game has been to enchance playing together instead of players feel like they’re fighting eachother all the time. We have guesting, level scaling which would both have an impact on how rifting would work to the point where it would be useless.
2. You say to have a button to disable rifting, well anyone under lvl 80 would obviously use it as they are not going to want to get ganked by a bunch of 80’s while runing around doing their lvl 60 quests. This takes me onto your idea of lvl 80 maps only, I’m not being funny, but have you seen those maps recently? They’re pretty dead and the last thing Anet needs is to give players even more reason not to explore those areas. It’s bad enough with getting aggro on a mob every 5-10 steps in orr let alone wondering if there is a group of players waiting to gank you as soon as you enter combat. Again, if 75% of the people in orr turn rifitng off you’d have what? 5-10 players fighting eachother? That sounds so fun and important for this game… not. Then you have to consider overflows, how would they work (if you ever got into an overflow in orr I know I havn’t) how would rifting work on an overflow as it isn’t a home server.
3. Other games have rifting because other games have factions, if rifting is add it would be like people on Desolation moving to Underworld and it would become a match between those two servers. This can already happen in WvW where servers are matched against eachother.

I’m sorry, but rifting has no place in this game, we already have a much better idea which is WvW. Why waste so much time and resources to add a much smaller WvW into the game that will most likely never get used as the people that enjoy that kind of idea can easily go to WvW to do it.

I was in a group today with 3 players from the same guild that was talking about how they run CoF P1 in about 10 mins, tell me again why this topic was created? I’d say most of the dungeons in the game are too easy not including high lvls in fotms. That said though, i’m not too high in fractals and they’re still easy minus Agony which doesn’t really make it challenging to have a spell you can’t really avoid.

I see people say “Yes we need a casual dungeon” what on earth do you think story mode was created for? It’s a stepping stone, to give you the basics about each dungeon so you know what to expect in the harder exp mode. If you’re not use to dungeons or not sure how to play your role in a dungeon, then go and do story mode first! Why do you think Anet made it so that you can only enter exp mode after you’ve completed story – unless someone else starts it ofcourse.

@Towndrunk, I’m sorry, but every game that has any type of tactics has to be researched or find a way to complete it through trial and error. What do you think the first people did when they ran each dungeon? Guessed and got lucky? No, they tried through trail and error kept going until they found out how, then they pass that information onto other people so that they know how to do it and don’t have to spend 1-2 hours on a single fight like the ones who came before. I’m not just on about GW2 here, they do not think of hard and interesting tatics for their game to turn around and tell everyone in game how to kill each boss easily. What do you suggest intsead, having a 10 min+ video play every time you enter a dungeon telling you the best way to fight each boss, or should they just make them that weak that they’re a no brainer and can be defeated with people playing with their eyes closed. Learning the boss is suppose to be part of the fun.

And no i’m a casual player, I play 1-2 hours a day most days depending what i’ve got to do that day as I have a lot of stuff to do IRL that always comes before GW2. But I’ve had 3 full exotic gear with different stats for 1 character, another lvl 80 with half exotic (got bored of playing my guardian aha) and a range of alts between lvl 1 and 40ish. Do you want to know how, because instead of moaning “omg I died 50 times after that first AC Exp I did, instead of keep trying to get better i’ll just moan about how the game should be changed to make it better for me”. No I actually played the game, got more experiance and became better. Man I remember my first AC run, so many deaths but I kept going.
Being a casual player doesn’t mean you’re unable to have the same amount of skill as any hardcore player. So what if you can’t play 20 hours a day, just make the most of those 2 hours you do get to play and if it’s that bad maybe you shouldn’t be playing MMO’s which are so time consuming.

Use Gw2lfg.com to find groups, there is always people looking for groups on there for most dungeons and doesn’t limit you to your server. You can easily get a group for most dungeons within the space of 10 mins using this as well as asking in map chat in LA ect. I’ve yet to take anywhere near half an hour to get a dungeon group together.

As for casual dungeons, they’re called Story Mode. They are already in the game and are much easier then Exp mode dungeons. The rewards are less yes, but if they add a new “casual” dungeon mode then they will have less rewards anyway so what does it matter.

As for not wanting to research the best stats/builds, i’m sorry but even the most casual players can manage that. Instead of spending your time moaning about your build not being perfect or not knowing what traits to use, use the interent or ask other players for advice and there, in the long run you’ll save yourself a lot of time.

Furthermore, since the 28th patch they’ve nerfed a lot of the mobs and bosses in dungeons, I did AC yesterdya for some tokens for an alt and only one player died and he was a lvl 45 thief, apart from that I don’t think anyone else even got near to dying let alone going down. If you learn how to play your class to the best it possibly can (which takes time yes, but that’s the point of the game, to learn through errors) and learn each encounters in a way so that you can fight that boss without taking too much damage then you’d be fine.

We don’t need easier dungeons just because people are too lazy to research how to play their class or how to kill a boss. Exp dungeons was always said to be Anets take on hardcore PvE and suppose to require a guild or good group not just for anyone to walk in and kill each boss with their eyes closed.

I’m not being funny but every dungeon i’ve ever done in GW2 has been with PuGs, yet i’ve once to come across a group that has been so bad that i’ve gave up and left.
If you refuse to group that’s your fault, not the games fault, not dungeons fault. With the latest patch change dungeons are so easy, I did AC yesterday quickly for a few tokens for an alt and didn’t even go down once, infact we only had one person die and that was a lvl 45 thief. They’re really not that hard do AC it takes an hour and a half for all 3 paths, you make about 2-3g and as you can skil 75% of the dungeon it’s stupidly easy.

Should Loot tables be introduced.

EliteZ.1682

I think he means that mobs don’t have specific loot tables for them, like a mob in AC exp has the same chances of dropping the same loot from a mob in any other lvl 30 areas. Or any risen in orr has the same chance of dropping the same items as any karka. Every mob has the same chance of dropping almost every item as most share the same loot tables.

In most games including GW1 you could have an item that only a group of mobs would drop, no other mob shared that loot table basically like ascended rings at the moment that they only drop from mobs in FoTM. Everyone else is right thpugh, the game does have loot tables, just not a lot of specific ones, although they do exsist already in the game

BRING BACK point-click for movement [like in Guild Wars 1]...

Guild Wars 2 default controls are horrible—mainly because there isn’t point-click to move so we’re forced to use the keyboard controls to move and activate skills at the same time—which is clunky and inefficient. To make the situation worse, GW2 has around twice the amount of skill buttons as GW1—and we’re now forced to share keyboard space with movement buttons! Basically, the GW2 default controls are logically flawed.

To resolve this problem, may I suggest to add point-click for movement [like back in GW1]? It can be added to enhance the current movement scheme. So users can focus on using the keyboard for activating skills and using mouse for movement—instead of the current method of expecting users to use their one hand on the keyboard to do almost everything!

NOTE: I already know I can hold down both left/right mouse buttons at the same time to move. I also know about autorun. But these are still not efficient nor comfortable for constant play.

NOTE: I have already tried reconfiguring my controls as suggested by some users [such as Taugrim’s control scheme], but for this game it’s still not as efficient as having point-click to move.

NOTE: Point-click for movement would also include auto-attack and follow [like in GW1].

NOTE: Point-click for movement can work for continuous terrain. For jumping spaces, we can switch to button movement.

BTW: For those of you who also can’t stand the default controls, you can try my custom movement controls that are mentioned in the link below. It helps to improve the current situation. However, there is a small bug with it—which is caused by the game [I have reported it]. But it’s still very usable and far better than the default controls…

I’m sorry, but did you even play GW1? It had 8 spells, GW2 has 10 how is that twice as many skills?

Yes M1+M2 is basically the same as click apart from you hold it in. Anet would have to make adjustments to their combat system to fit this feature in, which means it wont ever come.

Gear grind/future gear tier solution

No offence, but how lazy can people get? Ascended armor isn’t even out yet and people are trying to find a easy way to obtain it. Yes, ascended gear will be better then exotics, but given the fact that you can obtain a full set of exotics in a matter of 5-10 mins, does it really matter? Save up all your karma from 1-80 if you do most of your dailies and montly then you’ve got enough for 80 exotic armor, farm a dungeon for 3-4 days and you’ve got yourself exotic armor. People act as if it takes months on end to get exotics so when they’re finally as not BiS people will be like “OMG I SPENT SO MUCH TIME GETTING EXOTICS AND NOW THEY’RE USLESS”… It has been said that ascended gear will be available to get from every aspect of the game in the future when more is released. Basically what you’re saying is, even though you can get the gear by simply playing the game you enjoy, you’d rather have it easy.

If anet released these “legendary” armors that scaled in stat level with ascended, do you not think you’d have to farm like hell for them anyway? so what is the difference between going out of your way now to farm a certain set of gear, or wait untill they’re actually released and “farm” the ascended gear while playing the game.

All this suggestion is really asking for is “Give me a gear treadmill now instead of later”. Either way it will be a gear treadmill, the fact that they will scale as new stats come out makes them BiS, therefore in the long run adding these into the game now is still a gear treadmill. It works for legendary weapons because these either cost you 1k+ gold or a long time farming, therefore they should be scaled up, but giving you these “basic version” isn’t the same at all. The way you’re saying it, they might aswell make exotics harder to get and then make them scale, then people would moan “oh exotics are too hard stop forcing us to farm for them”.

After reading this I can picture dungeons being these areas where mobs and bosses randomly spawn and each time you kill one and another one spawns, it can grow in strenght untill your party wipes. Similar to FoTM, but without having 3 10-20 min map rotation. Once your group wipes you get rewards depending on how far you got in. It’d basically be a horde mode, but better then fotm imo. What do you guys think?

You can preview weapons/armor from rewards yeah, when they come up in the little menu thing just right click and preview, maybe anet disabled this when they took out preview for different armor types ect, but the last time I did a story quest they was previewable.

I didn’t mean to sound rude on my first comment either, was quickly writing it aha and just now seeing it is a bit rude. I just mean when I was lvling up I cared more about the looks then the stats so whenever I had a choice I always picked the best looking armor, but not all are like me and some prefer the higher stats.

I would help you find the armor, but i’ve not got a clue with medium armor i’m afraid, but the troopers sounds to me like the orr karma vendors (not the 80 exotic ones)

This feature would take no more than a day or two to program and having it work flawlessly. And that could be just one person working on it, not taking away from what important things that they are doing.

No more then a day for one person? Ha that made me laugh. Even if they created it in a day, they have to test it to make sure there are no issues bugs ect

No. If you choose a different reward then that’s your own fault. You can’t say, if you liked it why didn’t you accept that reward of the one you picked? That would seem like the logical thing to do. As Emikochan said, every reward you get from story mode is placed somewhere else in the game too, normally crafted or from karma somewhere.
