I am so confused. Why are people acting like swapping to counter is a bad thing to the point we need to hide enemy team comp?

Um, why is this bad? Why do we need to hide enemy team comp? Are we just supposed to run blind and then strategize and not strategize splits beforehand?

Like I realize that’s what people in bronze do, but I have no desire to see that sort of randomness anywhere outside of bronze hell.

because counter comping is not skill. Its just build wars 2. Oh look enemy team has 3 thieves lets just all swap to DH. EZ win so much skill.

From thief perspective: generally don’t bother to 1v1, thief is not allowed to 1v1 according to dev. Generally you should be +1 someone or decapping anyway. But let’s assume you have to 1v1 (for w/e reasons) and both players are equally skilled and running meta builds.

- guard: you stand no chance
- scrapper: you stand no chance
- ele: killable, would take some time
- rev: killable, kind of
- necro: killable, kite DS
- druid: don’t bother
- mesmer: killable if you build for condi cleanse otherwise don’t bother
- war: you stand no chance

idk why you re trying to make thief look weaker than it is by saying killable instead of saying counters/beats.

list for DP meta thief looks more like this

- beats rev
- beats mes
- beats necro
- beats ele
- beats power war
- loses to condi war
- lose to guard
- loses to engi
- loses to druid

i love kyhlo, but i get it like 1 out of 20 matches cause everyone votes for skyhammer/legacy…

Khylo is awful for professions that can’t teleport. If they remove any map it should be that one. Or give everyone a special action key teleport for the map…

then they should also give Aoe spam skills and high sutain to class that dont have it for skyhammer. your logic makes absolutly no sense.

Pvp on December 2014: 10k players, was the max of all time in that moment.

Pvp on January of 2017: Only gw2 efficiency had 25k players with skill rating.
Games not dying, has its problems and you are bored, but that doesnt mean its dying. Self delusional could be used to:
thinking issues= dying and i think/feel that its dying = its dying.

In any case, hope your pvp crisis pass and you continue to play.

just because theres more PvE players in PvP for the ascended gear that dosent mean PvP is not dieing. They dont care about pvp they are there for rewards. At high rating PvP id dying

On your matchmaking rant, you’re probably just looking at people’s decayed rating value, which can be up to 700 below their real rating. Their real rating is used for matches.

No its not that. Its legit silver players in legend games and it happens pretty often

.Before I quit the game I have never dropped below 1800 rating while solo Qing only. I was always between 1810 and 1890. If you drop ddown to 1600 something rating while solo Qing that means you got carried to 1800+, and since your duo partener got offline and cant carry you, its pretty normal to drop down to where you belong.

All amulets need +500 armor AT LEAST.

Learn to dodge and LoS. Its easier to survive than ever despite not having bunker amulets. every class has a lot of ways to survive longer than 2 secs.

If you die that fast its an l2p issue. And adding 500 armor would just make this game more boring and more bunker based. Considred only barely 3 DPS builds are viable the rest are bruiser/bunker.

GW2 PvP doesn't require enough skill to play.

If you spam 4 or 1 you already ate a lot of damage because you did not blind anything and did not interrupt any key skills.

If you’re spamming 4 you should have interrupted every skill which would have included “key” skills.

Exception being warriors and rangers that are typically drowning in stability.

Not really. spamming 4 at the wrong time wont interrupt anything. U can spam at the start waste all your energy and not have anything left for the heal or other key skills

I mean…. So.. condi thief kills the lord at the start of the game, giving his team ‘free’ 150 points then what?
He goes into teamfights? Tries to decap? +1? 1v1 revs and necros?
I have no experience against condi thief exept the occasional unranked troll, but it seems there’s a reason why no one takes d/d condi thief seriously.

Condi thief pushes far at the start to contest 1v1 forever. then mid game he kills lord. That’s how u abuse the build.

Spamming 4 dosent work on DP . If you spam 4 or 1 you already ate a lot of damage because you did not blind anything and did not interrupt any key skills. And if you waste all your initiative on headshot you have literally nothing left to deal damage or to survive.

meanwhile spamming 3 on D/D condi thief is the only thing u need to do because you evade while dealing damage and u dont need to use anything else besides 3.

U cant compare these 2 builds its not even close. The difference between a bad D/P power theif and a good one is insane. Meanwhile all the condi D/D thieves just spam 3, it could even be a bot instead of a player, theres no way to tell.

Currently on foefire there is an easy way to faceroll the lord and get a free 150 points no matter what unless a support ele camps there 24/7. because condi thief can perma evade the NPCs and the lord while stacking a ridiculous amounts of bleeds and take it out almost instantly.

Im not gonna name any names but they are a few people who got legend this way on NA especially by playing off prime time.

Why is it an exoloit? Because it was not meant to be killed so easely that’s why they buffed the lord several times but its still very exploitable with the condi D/D build.

So basically if you want to win against people who exploit the lord you are forced to have a specific player that runs a specific build to heal the lord just to counter this cheesy tactic. Its not fair and not healthy for the game.

In fact the whole design of the D/D condi is plain stupid and braindead, the build is also quite broken unless you run specifc counters because it literally has 90% evade uptime while dealing damage.

This is just pathetic tbh, seeing all the nerf threads on DP thief while this skilless and brainless build remains untouched is just insane.

For the love of god delete condi D/D thief, its literally worse than symbolic guardian in terms of skill requirement, a potato can be effective while running this and its pure aids to fight against.

I already sugged in my previous thread that they should remove the evade from death blossom or remove bleeds stacks because I dont now see why would they encourage single button builds in a competitive environment especially if it can be exploited .

optimized thief 1v1 beats:

mesmer(mesmer wins locations where thief cant steal but thats quarry and mine out of every single node in the game) , rev, necro, ele

while also beating all of these classes in mobility

thief used to have bad 2v2 but it’s really something you can debate right now since you’ll always get a 2v1 opening and nobody other than scrapper and warrior can properly sustain a thief 2v1.

tldr every single top player agrees that thief is insane right now except for sind whos clearly unbiased.

So people want to be able to survive a thief for years in a 2v1. LOL . And yea Mesmer now isn’t as good but it was broken for many seasons , while thief hasent been viable since pre HoT.

Did people forget that a thief cannot 1v1 or team fight in spvp ? Due to the amount of AoEs and on point pressure, thief is beyond worthless in a team fight, unless they have a very squishy target u can take out fast but nobody is squishy with a bunker ele next to them Combine that with the fact that thief cannot cleave because its too easy to counter cleave a thief with CC and condi bomb, its even easier to just get a res and reset the fight again. So that makes thief pretty much useless in team fights.

Now lets talk about thiefs 1v1 capability, thief loses to engi, druid and guardian and condi warrior aswell, a Mesmer that knows how to kite and stands on spot where thief cannot steal also beats thief 1v1.

So thief has only good match up against rev and enemy thief, it can kill necro too but it takes so long that its not worth fighting,

So that leaves thief with the role of decap and +1. Now can a thief really +1 effectlvely against top tier players than know how to kite and jumping puzzle on a bunker build? Nope. You cant kill a good engi even in a 1v2, same goes for druid. Because its too easy to reset yourself on a bunker build and troll the thief 1v2 and waste his time.

With all the weakness listed above I still do not see how thief is overpowered. Is it OP aganst less experienced players? Yes but so is every class, if a noob cannot dodge or use cooldowns properly he will die to anything not just thieves.

I think they are far too many nerfs threads on the forums about thieves where in reality its not even as strong as most builds right now. Engi/Druid are far superior at most roles and necro is still a better DPS team fighter because of nerfed rev. And DH would be the most broken class right now if support ele did not exist.

The only problem with the thief that I see currently is acrobatics traitline which allows some really brainless build like acro staff and D/D condi, the meta DP build is not overpowered.

It can be a complete different story in solo Q in the current system cuz most people are morons and thief shines in uncoordinated play where people cannot rotate and cannot survive longer than 3 secs but that’s their fault and not the games fault.

The balance right now is in a pretty good spot except for rev that needs buffs.

rank 20 is mid bronze and 80+ high silver then fight up …

No thats the worst idea. Many hotjoin heroes or solo Q farmers with 0 experience in team PvP have a high rank and dosent translate into skill. Ive seen some of the worst players with 10k + games played.

Comparing the current thief to old S/D makes no sense. Every other class sustain got buffed aswell with the introduction of HoT. Pre patch HoT Mesmer/guard didnnt have that many blocks etcc so that’s why they had to buff to the thief aswell

This tbh the whole game is a joke at the moment. I realised it a while ago. The amount of passives makes it everything but competitive

I’d rather see Continuum Split be changed from increased duration per illusion to a number of charges per illusion. I agree that it’s too good with elite skills, but I don’t think removing it’s ability to work with elites at all is the way to go. Instead, just nerf CS. Allowing Mesmers to use unlimited skills over a duration and just reset those skills is pretty freaking powerful. With charges, they only have a number of skills they can use. With 4 charges, 1 from self and 3 from each illusion, you have 10 second to use 4 skills. One would be an elite, the others could be Shield 5, and then Sword 3 with the teleport. That’s 4 skills. And those ones would be reset only. With the current CS, you can do those 4 skills and then switch to staff for two more illusions, and you could spam your shatters do you need some condi cleansing or a quick burst. Either way, changing the skill to use charges is a nerf, and I think it would solve some problems.

Another, much simpler, solution is to reduce the effective of everything being reset by 50%. So, after the rift ends or is destroyed, you gain half the endurance and health lost during the split, and CDs used are cut in half. A Moa CD would be 90 seconds instead of immediately refreshed. This is something that could be tuned easily too. Instead of 50%, do 75%. Moa CD would be reduced to 45 seconds after CS ends.

Actually, I like my second idea better. It’s simple and effective. Either way, CS needs a nerf, and not one that removes its effectiveness with elites.

Nan double moa or double well is really stupid tbh.

I like the evade on deathblossom because it gives power d/d a chance to survive in a frontal fight with d/p when it gets caught in one. If you wanna kill condi evade thief remove the bleeds from db and that’ll prove a better change over time. Condi thief already has p/d for those who want to play braindead stuff.

D/D power thief will never be viable anyway so might aswell remove the evade to kill D/D condi cancer

They were able to do it in “pips” system. They will not be able to do it in this “new” system. Ofc they will cary some ppl higher, but not that much.

Its gonna be super easy to farm the new system aswell. 5 man premade on voice coms farming pugs is not interesting. If u want to team Q, organize scrims or participate in tournaments. The Qs should be solo Q only anyway.

Your position on this leaderboard…means absolutely nothing, other than boosting your own ego, the leaderboard does nothing to improve your perception of the game or the general knowledge of all game mechanics, professions and all game mode.

It takes years for somebody to reach a position of game designer within a triple A company and even after that ..they still do mistakes and learn. Still you believe that “climbing” this leaderboard magically turns you into an “all knowledgeable” personality….when it’s already painfully obvious that you know 1-2 professions max and just the meta builds with small variations

It’s obvious that you’re a thief and you never played a dragon hunter or ranger or mesmer or scrapper…at least not against any competent player

1) Vault can reach up to 9k dmg under right conditions….a 15% reduction is like nothing, but again you’re a thief so expecting unbiased suggestions is out of question

2)F1 spear reduced from 1200 to 900..and? Who and how many times will face a dh at 1200 range? what kind of DH simply use f1 from 1200 in an obvious manner?…surely not the ones who mastered the class

3) Bristleback dmg reduced by 15%? No vet get killed by a bristleback…ever; with close to 2s activation and such easy to negate source of dmg(reflect can be spammed atm), no competent player will ever consider this pet a serious threat. A 2s reduction from ancient seed…it takes half that time with quickness to deliver rapid fire burst plus the time spent by the enemy to react and..I can do the same in 10s where you used condi cleanse/stunbreak or whatever..I still rapidfire you to death if you’re that bad to be hit in the first place

4)Continuum split not working on elite? and will your average mesmer suddenly start losing because they can’t 2x gravity well or moa?….surely you jest

5) reduced stability by 15%…wow…that surely will take away the reflect/block uptime of scrappers, maybe that will reduce their stealth intake or overall sustain….yes I’m being sarcastic..

6)..stone heart nerf, not much else to say. Your bias is too strong to even attempt a general explanation

By average gamer I mean general definition and got nothing to do with the perceived “skill” level or whatever; you and me are not game designer..we are average gamers but hey feel free to consider yourself a pro gamer or whatever, it doesn’t matter.

Got just one more thing to say : balance is not a one way mode, it will work against and in your favour, the less biased you are..and the closer you are to a game designer and based on what I see on this thread : you are a gamer and not a game designer.

As a general rule of thumb you should be afraid of every class and every class should be afraid of you.

An ele should not be able to perma tank everything or insta burst anybody but none of you will ever have a game where a mastered ele is just an easy target that requires no effort to bring down.

You say that stone heart should be nerfed by 50% and I say “Ok but now it works on all attunement” but you reply simply by saying that ele should be nerfed and this is difference between gamer and designer, the first wants the game to be fun for him…the second makes sure the game is fun for everybody

P.S just for fun..if I suggest to nerf vault by 50-60% dmg ( in PvP only…at least I make an effort to be unbiased), I can expect thieves to say :" it can be dodged easily..l2p" to which I could answer :" stone heart has plenty of counterplay as it is…l2p"

Lel 60% damage nerf so people can facetank vaults like they can facetank staff 5 from rev? People need to be punished for not dodging telegraphed attacks that’s why vault dosent need a huge nerf compared to stuff without an animation like passives. And no stoneheart dosent have any counterplay, its just straight up counters crit builds in a passive braindead manner just like pre nerfed diamond skin ele hard countered condi builds.

Another one of those threads…..where the idea of balance is so far from the truth and the overall knowledge of this playerbase is shown in full. Your average player firmly believe that he has achieved the highest possible level of skill on a given profession and that death only comes in the form of OP opposition and therefore should be extremely weakened to allow what in his mind is perceived as “fair matchup”.

The truth is, your average player got no idea of what balance means or simply he’s too egotistical to accept it.

A clear example of what I’m saying :
-" reduce effectiveness of stone heart by 50%" when the trait only works when ele is attuned to earth and in doing so the ele lose on all healing from water, dmg from fire/air and other small benefit.

Going earth to negate an incoming burst is considered ,by the devs, a tactical choice because there is an absolute sacrifice to make : your ele is stuck in earth, reducing the value of that choice should come also with the removal of any “Cons”.

Example 1: “stone heart effect reduced by 50%, now works with all attunements”

Example 2: “stone heart effect reduced by 50% , now reduces any source of dmg ( condi-direct-crits) by 50%”

Both these examples would ofc never be taken in consideration by the average player in GW2 because “competition” is the last thing on their mind as what they’re looking for is non-challenging environment

Now about the removal of aura from shouts…do people understand the concept of “cause and effect”?

Aura spam is trademark of tempest, made for support role, many limitations have been placed on the Tempest as a consequence, if you remove the auras from shouts, you remove the reason for Tempest to exist in its current form and in doing so…you simply open the pandora box for the ele community

“Shall we triple the dmg of shouts now that they don’t heal anymore?”
“Maybe we add more condis on them like 3 stacks of torment on feel the burn?”
“The CD nerf no longer stands and base heal of Elemental Bastion should be tripled”

That healing is what is being currently used to justify many short coming of the Tempest, when that healing is removed…neither the devs or the community will have anything left to justify the current state of Tempest.

The removal of that healing will effectively kill current tempest in PvE-WvW and PvP.
The scope of the balance in a MMO is so grandiose that it simply cannot be understood by your average player ( including me even if I still try my best to do so).

Balance in a MMO is not limited to what you experience in a random 1vs1 in the far corner of the map while using whichever build you like

Ive been top 30 solo Q only, 1 week and a half ago when I still played this game. How is that average? The average is like in gold. And yes ele needs nerfs just like about everything else. If you deny that fact you are delusional.

Dragonhunter:
- F1 spear throw range reduced to 900
- trap heal and f2 base healing reduced by 15%

- test of faith duration reduced to 4 seconds ( from 6 secs)

Druid:
-ancient seeds immoblize duration reduced to 3 secs ( from 5 secs)
- bristleback f2 damage reduced by 15%

Thief:

- pulmonary impact now has an ICD of 5 seconds
- Vault damage reduced by 15%
- Death blossom ( D/D dagger 3 ) is no longer an evade , increased bleed stacks to compensate

Mesmer:

-continium split no longer works with elite skills

Scrapper:

- Reduced stability duration by 15% from both traits in the scrapper traitline

Tempest:

- Healing to allies from from Auras reduced by 15%, self healing remains the same

- stone heart now reduces damage by 50% from critical hits instead of being 100% immune to crits

Idk what to say about warr/necro/rev but I feel like the changes I listed there would make the game alot more balanced and less brainless and they are just small chhanges instead of huge nerfs to skills like they did to the revenant.

One or the other. It is very overpowered.

So either headshot should have a cast time (maybe 0.75 seconds to add counter play) or PI should just do about 25-50% less damage.

Things are really not fun.

Time to act.

50% less damage would make it wortless. Damage is not the problem the problem is that u can interrupt everything even autoattacks. It should work only with skills that are not autoattacks to prevent spam.

Reducing thief damage would just make killing bunkers impossible even force a boring necro meta again. Cuz then every class will have its damage nerfed except necros

Comebacks technically should never happen. if one team is stronger than the other there is no comeback > u just keep getting farmed until they reach 500 points.

Comebacks only happen when they make several mistakes, or have DCs, so yea the match is decided within the first few mins of the game about 80% of the time

I agree that they got nerfed hard. Im not saying the nerfs should be reverted but something needs to be done for their heals. Both Glint and Shiro require active events to heals. Glint needs you to be targeted which any smart enemy will stop attacking. Shiro requires you to land hits. I don’t know any other class that has those restrictions.

DH trap heal is very easy to trigger so that doesn’t count.

I just want the dmg nerfs reverted

Through most of the season there have been around 12 people with a legendary skill rating.

In my opinion that number seems really low.

A global rating boost of +50 or +100 would result in 27 / 55 players in legendary. (at the time of writing)

Thats what i have been saying whole along, only 20- 30 players are really legendary in gw2, rest are average and bad players.
I know its hard for most of u to understand this but thats the truth

yea and like half of those are alt acconts. so only 5 ppl are good at this game the rest are bad

Its pretty obvious now that rev got overnerfed. There like 3 people on NA that can play it properly and maybe 5 on Eu. Whenever I get a rev on my team that I never seen its basically gg.

I would rather get a Bad DH/ele/scrapper/druid on my team than an Average rev, that’s how bad the class is right now especially in solo Q.

It loses most 1v1s, and loses to thief and all condi builds, and its unviable without a support class babysitting the rev. The damage shave was insane now you can basically facetank a rev and kill it overtime with passives.

The risk is too high and the reward is too low compared to most builds, I dont see the point of playing rev currently unless you are in the 1% of the players that can still be effective with it and even then it feels unrewarding cuz u could be facerolling on something else instead of try harding and focusing on your gameplay.

Revert rev nerfs, it was too much and it shows, I dont see any revs and I’m plat 2 ( at least I was before decay).

High risk no reward= revenant, yup nice balance .

DH is still broken on many levels. I would say that symbolic Dh technically has no counter and beats any build in the game or stalemates any build.

medi trapper can be killed by engi/druid but not symbols

We know that no good player is stuck in bronze. Or even silver/gold for that matter lol. The games there are so easy to carry that its not even possible to be stuck there unless you belong there.

Once you reach the spot where you belong you shouldnt gain or lose too much rating from the games you play. If im staying within 1800-1850 MMR for a week theres no way I should be losing -25 or gaining +15

The system should recognize where you belong by the games you play and their MMR. if I have 100 games played in the 1800-1850 MMR without dropping too much or without going up too much thats where I belong so the MMR shouldnt be so volatile

I was looking at the leaderboards and noticed some top players lost so much rating in just 2-3 games even tho they were around r1-10 since the start of the season.

if someome gets a lucky win streak from his real MMR. Lets say i belong in 1850 but get lucky for a couple of games and end up legendary. Thats not where I belong and it should take me longer to get there than 5-7 games.

And some goes the other way. If the rank 1-5 player goes on a lose streak , they have to grind for days to make up for a few losses.

Basically once a certain percentage of your games lets say more than 60% of your games were played in the certain MMR treshold. The system should then adjust the rating distribution and not make you gain or lose too much rating

Otherwise there is literally no reason to play once you reach a good MMR. Whats the point of playing once u reach legendary if you can lose all your progress in 2 games? Its just plain stupid. Thats why people make alt accounts and troll cuz they dont want to risk their rating.

TLDR: Once you reach the MMR that you belong you should be losing or gaining max 3 points not more.

DH ruins PvP. whenever I see 3 Dhs on enemy team which happens pretty often even in the 1800-1850 MMR i dont feel like playing anymore and I have to swap off my main class and mirror their braindead build to win against them.

You shouldn’t get punished for being teamed up with people that have (a lot) less experience, or just do bad.
And right now the only thing you can do is try and save whatever there is to save, but most of the time it’s just worthless effort.

True, it happens way too often. I know a bunch of people that I did premades back in seasons 1-4 and we did dangity dang well. Now as we parted ways and soloq, we are all stuck in gold, losing matches that cannot be carried due to 1 or 2 (or more) incapable players, or just well played, combat proficient and rotation experienced players who know how to focus.

As for penalties, no deaths and most deaths shouldn’t be taken under consideration. Because of that we would welcome bunker meta of sorts once again or too many professions that have a lot of escape on demand mechanics (also people might run away from a fight just so that they don’t get killed.)
Personal score should be some sort of a multiplier for how someone did perhaps. Although if it comes to multiple point caps, only the first player who enters the point will get rewarded for caps, unless he leaves it to another teammate. That would be a good way to prevent double caps.
Also, considering that some people are not that perceptive, a pop-out information about not getting any points for multi caps could be also implemented as one enters the point after someone else is already there.

Lol stuck in gold and blames teammates. Gold games are super easy to carry even low plat games . When I troll around too much and drop 100 rating to low plat I can notice how easy it is to win in low plat and carry games compared to 1850+ MMR. You only have yourself to blame.

How “easy” it is, is not the point, this is just straight up bragging.
If you had 2 or 3 teammates playing bad in those games, you wouldn’t be saying the same thing because you would’ve just dropped in rating.

But you obviously didn’t.
Because if you say that you “troll around” in your games, it proves that you’ve just been lucky with your teammates doing the work for you, otherwise you wouldn’t even be able to troll.

Yes when I troll I drop rating when I dont I gain rating. I played over 200 games already so nope I didn’t get lucky I actually carry the games I am playing unlike yourself obviously since you re stuck in gold. If your teeam is playing bad the opposite team is equally as bad since its gold division wich means its easely carriable. But keep deluding yourself into thinking you are unlucky instead of admitting you belong there

Because winning against low rated players dosent give much MMR. Why its so hard to understand??

The next question becomes why is this person playing low MMR players if he is 8-2.

They should have the ability to play higher ranked players to get a more accurate MMR.

For instance i know a player who went 13-3 and is a former number 1 solo que player as well as top 200 team que player in the old system who is currently ranked in the top 150 when players are 25-23 are above him.

There is a hidden MMR in the placement matches. He played low rated players because he was low rated from the start to begin with. T
