That’s RAIDS – or even WvW it can work too but NOT Fractals. This is not a main tank as much and does not provide near 100% boon uptime like the normal commanders tank chrono.

check class forums. Tho right now it’s more toxic than helpful. But, qtfy – for raid/fractal builds and www.metabattle.com has good PvP/WvW builds. All these min/max, not needed for a lot of things esp Open World.

On my Ranger, other than healing which is very different – I go condi. I prefer over power and I was very power before. It’s more expensive/harder to learn (ie: viper stats as a goal).

I cannot say if Weaver or Soulbeast will be good or not until release. If you read class forums ALL PoF elites suck. So, why I say they are toxic right now.

In all honesty you gotta try both classes for yourself. They play very differently.

Why the kitten not? Find a guild that isnt about min/maxing crap and have fun. You dont “need” druids or ele healers to beat raids. Yes, they bring all this better and more. But this is very viable, not as “ideal” as Druid but things don’t have to be about speed/min/max/best. PUGS will not be open to this stuff, and I understand that a lot of ppl would be really bad at this engi healer, but if you are competent and know this role, with a guild that’s cool not forcing roles, then great. I always loved a healer engi.

Ele is the class that can best use it. I have some, mainly accessories. I wouldnt go 100% celestial, but – it definitely isn’t wasted on Ele like it would be with other classes. Esp in Open World/WvW.

GW2 apply is still the quickest way to join. For us, not for you :P

PoF will bring new gear sets; that doesn’t mean better per se; berzerker is still the best power based gear stat wise; that’s core game. But HoT did add Viper which is the zerker version for condi builds and serious condi DPS builds will want that. Will new PoF gear stats replace Zerker/Viper? Maybe maybe not, but that’s still not the same as WoW or other games with new lvls, gear etc. so you can safely get ascended/exotics.

Plus w/ ascended you can change you stat on armor/weapons.

We have hardcore and former for family reasons too Starlancer. The slack gets you at some point. Enjoy it with cupcakes and others

Zerker – because even if you don’t end up using it on your necro, you likely will on another toon so it’s safer as a whole then. The rest are dependent on game mode; WvW can utilize toughness items for example.

Since you cannot get Viper/Sinister easily, those are best imo for the LWS3 grind OR crafting. Power Reaper SHOULD utilize zerker buuut… yeah condi and power and then add in for WvW? let’s just say you could potentially run many types on one toon.

I went from power ranger to condi; but my zerker accessories were then used on my Guardian. Same assumption if you went from say Reaper power necro to a condi build or support/sccourge or whatever.

entitled WoW players good lord – I understand being used to something there that isn’t here; but that’s life. I’ve heard zero ppl “raging” over no flying mounts until this thread. Not that you’re raging, but there is a semi-flying mount it hovers; and they WILL add more mounts. You also have gliding. It’s not the same as a flying mount but that’s why I never see a true flying mount.

You can go power and use radiance actually that’s good; I do zeal/radiance too as above – but GS focus w/ zeal. You can go Honor/Valor for more defensive options; and DH of course helps – as said vit is seriously lacking on Guard BUT – you have aegis/blocks and protection/stability and ways to mitigate dmg. Also, it’s Open World – shield, focus are great to pair with sword for more defensive options or hammer as said – while still doing great DPS plus swap with GS or sword/torch or etc. for the pure DPS weaps.

I mix zerk/soldier or mara gear open world. Also, I use Traveler’s Runes – the 25% movement speed plus u get boon/condi dur it’s decent; I wouldn’t use it for fractals/dungeons/raids. Also I use Retreat! when moving; w/ boon dur from runes mobility is not a factor; plus u can use it for a block. However it isn’t useful in story fights, etc. not compared to other abilities this is for moving/etc.

It takes getting used to once you do tho tbh it’s hard to die as Guardian.

It’d be cool IF optional clearly a money sink like any housing in any MMO. But instanced housing tbh is boring after a while; it’d be cool to be able to have open world housing on maps made for it. OR instanced guild housing; can organize a city. That will NEVER happen Im thinking of the days of SWG or ArchAge .

If it’s instanced I am meh it’s basically then like home instances where you can customize more; like guild halls – meh. Cool w/ guild hall because your whole guild shares. But that’s me.

So… spend 30 dollars merely for one elite class? That is beyond Mesmer being your main or not; I get there are peeps who ONLY focus on one char and nothing else and whatever that’s cool for them but PoF offers far more; but to each their own, I don’t see many ppl wanting a refund if Mirage happens to start off not where it was hoped to; things change.

Funny I was just in their forums and no one thinks this. But every class thinks their elite is crap right now. Let’s all be honest these sub forums are pretty bad to get any genuine sense or feedback it’s all toxic say for some you have to search hard for actual coherent feedback. Not that I’m being much help w/ my comments, I do agree with a lot of what others said above, but also people are too easily dismissive tbh there’s zero reason to take any class except maybe holosmith or scourge but go to scourge forums and you see ppl saying all bad things too. Metas easily change, it’s hard to say what will be worth taking or not based on a beta weekend – right now we should let the devs know there’s a lot of work to be done for every elite class.

Agreed; however you may miss on sales. I prioritize practical sales. Something I never think is bad, because you’ll always want them the more you play:

(also they PoF prep pack is not bad I would get that myself if I didnt want to see the sales first)

-Char slots (unless you stick to 1-3 chars)
- Bag slot/bank tab – you’ll find once 80/many always running out of room one of the biggest issues in GW2
- 80 ticket or shared inventory slot – esp latter, it’s SO good to have multiple shared slots you can share ascended stuff, kits, etc. with.
PERSONAL:
- Makeover kits (unless u give a rats boob about fashion, but I use these a lot)
- Copper-matic or unbreakable tools – these are expensive and the copper is account bound BUT tools are not. ALSO – copper kit is like a basic kit unless this has changed; I want the most chances from a mystic salvage.

Balzathar isn’t the only slacker to return to GW2; slackers are back to “Slack together, work alone!” and recruiting finally again!

Keep in mind PoF Elites and further balance changes can change everything. Don’t overreact to a current meta it wasn’t THAT long ago when zerker condi was considered bad. Plus zerker sets are good on other chars.

Also, there will be new PoF sets too… they may be non-HoT versions I don’t see new combos but – I’d hold up for a little. You will do fine w/ what you have now. I’d work on those trinkets/etc. worth those in Viper anyways but Spellbreaker may be good w/ power we still don’t really know. Or maybe I just don’’t :P

If you want 100% map as efficiently as possible, you don’t need max DPS really, you want maximum mobility, try this. It’s enough damage, defense and healing to get you through easy as and a lot of mobility with staff/gs.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’m actually liking this build more, though I’m confused over the role of Staff. I see that GS #3 allows you to leap, and Staff #3 allows you to “teleport”. So am I supposed to use these 2 skills while travelling, and using Shouts on CD for the Swiftness?

And to clarify, it seems this build doesn’t do a lot of condition damage, so I should be aiming for stats like Berserker? The previous build has Viper gear.

The previous build, the condi one – is meant more for Fractal/Raids. No doubt it can be used Open World. It’s ideal everything. Viper gear takes a while to make and is expensive, even just exotic. You can get away with carrion/rampagers etc. for Open World using the same build as you acquire vipers. Don’t stress on that. It’s also more squishy.

As for Staff/GS that is power based yeah; GS is power. Staff is support/power but you don’t use Staff for the DPS. Also Open World; take Nature Stride, the movement bonus is too good not to take. As for gear tbh you can get zerker/soldiers/etc. for cheap. Again, no need to max DPS if you want more toughness/vit that’s fine for Open World. If lazy like me I just leave on my Viper/mixed condi gear when I go a Staff/GS or GS/Longnbow for some easier clears some places. You have more than enough power/preci from it.

I found Mesmer one of the easier ones ironically; but I was gearing my Mesmer as a boon tank for guild; and regardless some vit but for Mes more so even toughness w/ HoT is a great thing. Fay suggested in her thread why vit isn’t as needed w/ Mesmer. If you have 20k that is very good for HoT imo as Mesmer. I get some ppl cannot afford to craft OR buy multiple sets of things.

I HIGHLY SUGGEST checking Fay’s link out it’s NOT outdated w/ the current updates say for a few things; preci being more important now for the dueling power build. I like Pack runes thus esp if put on defensive gear. I also like more offensive armor w/ dura runes but again I am going for leadership and boon/tanky. Accessories can be easily swapped for more offensive and defensive that’s almost cheaper and better than having 10 sets of armor/rune combos

Also sword/shield is great for surivial – w/ sword/sword or sword/torch/focus too. GS is nice for more ranged options but I never liked it.

I level’d 4 80s before using my 80 boost. I’ve found this game one of the MOST FUN to level through AND quickest. Most of my guild have found it the same way, however there are others that feel the way you do not used to such a system.

Crafting, dailies, stories, exploring, there’s a ton of ways idk, I do get if you find that stuff boring you can just get bored with it all. An 80 boost would help haha.

It’s a great change; tbh it will sell more than at 50 bucks. HoT at 30 allowed ppl to more easily get it. And now Deluxe at merely 5 bucks more at original HoT price is pretty good w/ extra char slot (Ult should get a 2nd tbh), identity kit etc. And 80 bucks for Ult – still a lot but compare to what 99 bucks with HoT?

You’re heavily assuming the leaked info is 100% accurate… in may well be, but it also may well not be and that info based on old info. Yes stuff like elite class weapons have been pretty consistent, but more specific details will easily change like abilities/etc.

I wouldn’t expect patch note level detail – but the broad strokes of things like – all new elite classes (not just saying new elite classes facepalm ), new race or not, new land area, mounts? All that.

Not gonna expect release of elite detail all skills/etc. if ppl are, prepare to be disappointed. I HOPE to eat crow on that Id love to eat many crows

You need updrafts and bouncing mushrooms to stay on a hero train. Points no, trains will hit each waypoint as if people don’t have them unlocked. By far the best way; and also gets you through maps, not content wise, but point wise and can go back etc. You won’t unlock all waypoints OR get EVERY HP on a train, at least not usually; its aim are more the tough ones to get. You’ll get communes and stuff just not all. It does depend on the train lead.

Welcome to EVERY MMO out there – okay I’ve not played every MMO but enough to see this has been an issue everywhere. let’s be real about this, optimal builds are very finite that’s why they are optimal and SAFE.

It’s not quite singular but close. Sure you could have a class that has 10 optimal builds that equal min/max numbers each I guess. But that’s rarely ever the case.

Look at a game like ArcheAge (it’s been a year since I’ve played) but despite the incredible variety of builds – there are still optimal ones that likewise ppl would dispute if u weren’t going with. You could be “viable” as a heretic but man you aren’t a Darkrunner so wtf go that or this or gtfo.

People look for the “best” in meta, ie: the easiest best builds to min/max numbers and thus gives your group the most probability to finish the content. w/o issues. It’s yes a function of the implementation of class mechanics, gameplay, etc. Then it’s down to the players that enforce the meta, sometimes it’s chicken or egg, but like okay, you may be slower/not as sharp to raid with viable but not the bees knees builds. Room for error is greater. You can get it done though. BUT WITH PUGS, ppl tend to want to be safe and optimized is SAFE (excluding skill level to play such a build). So, pugging often is very elitist – esp when u get half a guild or such.

Game modes w/ tiered difficulties ramps such up per level where optimization really starts to matter taking away viable builds for a few optimized. Think like scholar runes for fractals. Why no Druid Healers? Because with highest tier fractals is all about DPS and agony; thus you have less build room to play around or roles. It enforces optimal builds in its gameplay mechanic. So thats purely on GW2 for Fractals.

Like a Story Mode vs. Hard Mode in SWTOR, or any difficulty levels. Higher difficulty obviously = less variety of builds/classes.

My point is this isn’t unique to GW2; nor does GW2 do this more say for some modes – it seems that way because ironically enough there ARE more variety potential and build options over other games like SWTOR or WoW so it seems more so like those are wasted and only a few builds MUST be used. Likewise classes. It’s just safer and better chance to finish fractal w/ an Ele over an Engi for example. You definitely CAN either way. But, with current meta yeah, that’s the class gameplay mechanic currently – and players enforce or don’t.

Also, that’s you find a guild that’s not hardcore where say for when absolutely necessary you CAN try out builds while Raid, etc. I couldn’t stay in any MMO w/o a guild if had to pug only that’s bleh… for ANY game. :P

GILDED HOLLOW CLAIMED! Finally we have a GH!

Reinforcements! We braved through the Octovine to get to the Gilded Hollow to attempt the claim once more! Thanks to Armidon’s timey warpy dimensional transport, we grouped our cupcake expeditionary force led by yours truly and my right hand Duke Ash (darkroomradio). Even the Queen joined fresh from Maguuma w/ her axe ready to drop heads!

With Count Faeden, Lord Rekcals, Ambassador Armidon, Knight Foofoo and Princess Tar we joined Kogga the asura weirdo creature that I thought I had fed to my pet Rancor for our utter failure previously.

We had learned much from our last failed attempt. Mostly to bring more cupcakes and shrooms and peasants to distract. We fought the Maws. Battled the Vinetenders. One bested us but that was because the Queen found some shinies and she must have her stuff stuff STUFF!

But little did the Axemaster in the way of the crystal I needed to fondle to complete our journey know – the true axemaster was our very own Queen who just cut off Lord Rekcals head due to him catching a golded cupcake that fell out her pack that she thought he was stealing. THE QUEEN, ENRAGED IN THE BLOODLUST took off the fool Axemaster HEAD too! We beaten our enemies and I went forth to claim the hall!

And thanks to some excess of the King’s stash and Rekcals now pillaged stuff we made the first Tavern! DRINKS ON COUNT FAEDEN!

SO – a few things. We come from SWG, then other games, to SWTOR. Now GW2 (in both). We’re smaller and newer in GW2. Mix of vets and new players.

We ARE slackers, and quirky play into our name in fun. We won’t promise zero foul language but we aren’t sailors in a submarine and humor is mature, certainly can be quirky and raunchy but rarely in your face or disrespectful as we are 100% inclusive of LGBT, gender, age, species, etc. Likewise we try to be as inclusive w/ all members! That’s both up to US and elders/officers/members but also the member themselves to be open and ask/offer/etc. We want quality fun chill respectful mature members!

We are always helpful. AGAIN, we don’t have 100 members nor want to be a huge guild. But most are willing to help/etc. for sure answer questions, whatever!

Anyways welcome to ask me questions etc. check out thread and site! Trust me, plenty of guilds who post here that will respond to your thread that ARE great, FENX, etc. Anyways, good luck on your guild finding journey!

I love support. Love Ele style support. And I don’t give a rats butt thats MY PREFERENCE, like ppl here prefer pure DPS. So that’s my rules and I won’t stop it, so there, if that’s adding to the elitist meta whatever, I dont use the metabattle like it’s law, I use WH too. I see plenty of dps eles do great in fact I see more than pure support Eles.

Too lazy to post an in depth message; so – we do not req. voip; we also have a few mems with similar issues. Raids/OPS do require to listen not speak. But peeps use chat/etc. a lot. Peeps vets and new with us so in good company. We’re still small, but strong like slack.

Now, profanity wise; there is a filter :P We aren’t excessive but some colorful metaphors have been known to escape people’s keyboards. Nothing crazy or every sentence like that we try to be respectful and mature BUT goofy and fun too.

This build is propably the strongest support troll in the game :-). I agree durability is a good one. I run it in WvW. but don´t get bored, the damage it does is very low. Maybe pick cheaper utility like precision oil or sharpening stone.

Do you feel durability is stronger than trooper runes? With the traits not cleansing on water attunement I would think trooper runes more valuable in that case. Durability if traited to cleans on water attunment. Or do you feel differently?

With my 10 -15 man. The Ele’s job isn’t condi cleanse that’s our guardians job. The Ele’s job is mostly water fields heals and perma prot.

Smaller groups I’d go trooper. 10-15 isn’t large but enough where trooper isn’t as needed you should have some classes that are condi cleansing. That being said imo you can never have too much condi cleanse long as you are coordinating. Tempest make strong condi cleansers w/ trooper. BUT Dura runes are just better for larger groups for reasons mentioned; esp as you’re using dagger/WH for boon support/heals, even if u use a bunch of shouts.

Hmm can’t really compete with the awesomely well structured and thought out above answers, brings back bad SAT memories :P

We’re Xtraordinary Slackers, yes the E left because it was too elitist! And tbh the X kinda didn’t bathe too often… as you can tell We’re goofy, a small guild hailing from SWG days and we do have a guild in SWTOR. We’re small in GW2 anyways as newer, but emphasis on community and chill times THAT WANTS TO DO STUFF! Yes we are PvE focused; tho at times will WvW or PvP but nothing organized yet.

Anyways – I don’t have well-thought out answers despite leading the guild for years. I should run for public office! :p We have fun with the slacker name and theme, royal theme too, and just want to get cool peeps whatever level of activity to enjoy game and eachother with!

Above replies are awesome guild, FENX esp and prob have more stability currently BUT if in for a fun cool weird but awesome time/journey or want to help make Tyria slack, consider us!

Xtraordinary Slackers guild here! I am the King Slacker GM and you would think I would have a ready made message since that’s easy but I am typing this freehand. We are all about everything you mentioned.

We have no rules for activity, duh we’re slackers… that being said, if u log in once in 6 months, that’s even too slack for us :P Thread has more info sorry it’s a bit crazy in there like us, but we’re harmless.

We currently do a bit of everything PvE leaning for sure; and Ehmry Bay located. We want to do more sPvP and learn that we’re a bunch of n00bs to PvP stuff. We also hail from SWTOR land.

ANYWAYS – sorry if I ramble; we seek quality chill but mature open minded mates to join our family. We have cheeky fun with our name and cupcakes and royal theme. I will say we are not a huge guild at all nor want to be, newer to GW2 thus smaller but growing. Slowly since we’re slackers :P

Many people greatly appreciate the sheer time and effort dulfy puts in to making her guides and mining posts, and she’s always respectful of spoiler tagging on the subreddit, so I don’t see your issue

THIS! Seriously, OP is like “I go to a movie review site and they review and give plot details of the movie WTF HOW DARE THEY!!!” …

Dulfy is very upfront it’s a site for guides and datamines; you go there for such things, guides include new skin info AND spoiler guides. You are not forced to read them. They indicate spoilers in guides with spoilers.

I am unsure if the OP is naive or trolling. Sometimes hard to tell.
