Positives:
- Map concept is really cool, would like to see more “Depths of Tyria” maps like this.
- Arrival into new map is awesome.
- New mastery is A++ (please add it to other maps where theme feels appropriate aka Auric Basin/Verdant Brink/Tangled Depths)
- Guild decoration related to above also A++
- Kasmeer is finally back.
- The rewards in the new map are pretty cool.
- New roomie is awesome. Love his music collection.
- Is Taimi getting taller?

Negatives:
- Story too short, would have liked to have seen some other locations related to -that- individual used outside of Draconis Mons. Same with new transparent frenemies.
- Kasmeer here for all of five minutes.
- Scruffy 2.0 reveal maybe too soon?
- Would have loved to have seen more class based interactions in this EP.
- Would have loved to have seen a greater moral dilemma for characters with a vested interest in the main big bad. Especially those who chose that big bad for themselves. Similar to the Sylvari conundrum in Mordremoth’s house.
- No return journey to Rata Sum? (Unless I missed that NPC??)

[Suggestions] Quality of Life Changes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Essarious Quw.8946

Essarious Quw.8946

This is related to Scribing and the Guild Hall…

Please convert all trophies (as in the completed ones) into inter-active objects. When activated (using F) they should tell you their level (bronze – silver – gold), the name of the raid wing, and the name of the boss.

For example.
BRONZE – SPIRIT VALE – VALE GUARDIAN or some sort of combination of those facts.

Currently my guild is close to reaching monument cap as the raiders in our guild wish to label each of their trophies. We’re using the monuments to also set out guild rules, and have several memorials for lost members which absolutely cannot be removed, so please help us with this quality of life fix.

if you’re mad about people farming and not doing events , where were you in the first 3days after patch release- thats when you should be playing!! because after that its harder to get you chieves done like usual. Others have their stuff completed so obviously farming is what is going to be happening. Until Anet finds a way to stretch out or make events last longer to complete this is the way it has been since the beginning. This hasn’t changed much.

Busy making sure my bills were paid. Unfortunately.

It. Hasn’t. Fixed. KITTEN!

This map is super frustrating because of all the greedy ettins running around instead of doing events. The only way to fix and balance this map is to either only spawn the chests in the window after the bosses spawn OR make the chests once per day harvests.

I was really enjoying this content over the weekend but then the chest farm took over and now it’s just frustrating, annoying and generally pants all around.

Lore-Matching Skritt Playable Race

Essarious Quw.8946

Oh gods, not Gibberlings haha.

Although my beautiful, mindflaying, walking corpse certainly enjoyed butchering thousands of the little darlings in the pvp side of things. Do not want to see that kind of trio in Tyria.

Some Skritt are smart enough to move around and work independently. I think the only reason we’re not going to get them is because they’ve been confirmed to be a “lesser” race in the personal story.

Don’t get me wrong I still really, really, really want to play as a skritt. Just without the Gibberling angle :P

Another lesbian relationship?

In answer to the OP: Yes. It definitely felt that way at first, but with the more recent patches their relationship is becoming more believable. If you find them on the beach in Labarynthe Cliffs they bicker just like a lesbian couple I know irl.

I would like to see a non Sylvari male couple though. Norn, Charr, Asura, Human: I’m not fussy, just something believable with the fuzzies.

And don’t pull a Bethesda and give us two corpses and a bloodstained letter. I want live wuns that I can talk tae.

Scarlet's Rattle - a new illness?

in Lore

Posted by: Essarious Quw.8946

Essarious Quw.8946

From what I gather from NPC dialogue both during and after the Attack on Lions Arch.

Scarlet’s Rattle is indeed a new infliction, caused by exposure to both the miasma and the toxic spores still airborn in many places around Tyria. It has varying degrees of severity, from an annoying tickle to violently coughing up blood. Most likely there are some NPCs who have been mis-diagnosed due to proximity, and cures for the rattle range from the possible (for those afflicted by the spores) to the terminal (for those who get a nasty dose of miasma).

Given that the same Lionguard patrol also confirms that there are still pockets of Miasma trapped inside buildings in Lion’s Arch, I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re hearing about this for a long time to come.

Similarly (and this last part -is- speculation) we don’t know if the surviving Aetherblades, Toxic Alliance or Molten Alliance have the ability to reproduce the miasma without Scarlet, or how much of a payload they still have left over from the attack. We could be seeing it again.

Dark Skinned Norn

Posted by: Essarious Quw.8946

Essarious Quw.8946

We only saw -some- of the Norn in Guildwars 1. Jormag came and drove -all- of the Norn from the Northern Shiverpeaks, they could also have been living elsewhere. Given their nature I would be surprised if they only lived in one part of Tyria, if and when we get to leave the continent, I would not be surprised to find Norn living in other parts of the world. Also I’ve learned that real-world logic does not always apply to Tyria, so beware.

Hints about S2?

in Living World

Posted by: Essarious Quw.8946

Essarious Quw.8946

This is kind of spoilerish but not really as I am not going to give precise details. So far in the patch this is what I have gathered that has not really been posted about here yet:

There’s two new named Lionguard NPCs patrolling around the ruined city that give you a little bit of insight into how attitudes to the Sylvari are changing, and how LA might change. The asura represents old LA, and the new human recruit represents what might be. They spawn at Lionguard HQ, and walk around their patrol route which returns them to HQ in the end. Deffo worth taking the time to walk alongside them.

Taimi’s ruminations on the Zephyrites, and the fact that they won’t let her bring her golem on board the ship as his magic will “interfere with the crystals” suggest that the Sanctum is taking some pretty serious juju on board for wherever it’s headed next.

Trader Owen’s npc dialogue implies that the sanctum is going much further away than it did last time, and soon.

Evon Gnashblade’s standing has improved as a result of the conflict, you can talk to him to find out more, or overhear various merchants scattered throughout the city complaining that he is in the process of driving them out of business.

A scratch has taken over the Hooligan’s Cave. Probably not significant to anything but will be used as some sort of comic relief I imagine.

A royal wedding type arc in the living story would be awesome, especially if they handle it like they did Gwen and Kieran’s wedding. So long as there aren’t any more bombings in the city. That part of the Living Story left a bad taste in my mouth and I almost walked away from the game.

I wish this tonic didn’t have a cooldown, period. Make it map-bound instead, so whenever you leave an area it wears off.

Would You Fight To Reclaim Ascalon?

in Human

Posted by: Essarious Quw.8946

Essarious Quw.8946

My human characters would fight to defend the people of Ebonhawke, but not support a full invasion. My guardian and warrior would be the first to join the fight, but my necro would stick to his vigil assignments and not get involved.

I feel somewhat sympathetic to the people of Ebonhawke, they have paid a steep blood price for the land their city occupies, and even the Legions came to respect that and stopped trying quite so hard to destroy and occupy the city, content to use it to test new weapons (That was the impression I got from both Edge of Destiny and charr NPCS in Fields of Ruin). If hostilities did resume on an official level then I would absolutely spend time trying to protect the people of Ebonhawke.

As for the rest of Ascalon, the charr are welcome to it. It has a depressing colour scheme anyway.

LIONS ARCH: You choose the future!

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Essarious Quw.8946

I hope they explain where the trade route actually is that supplies the city. Since they plunked Southsun right in the middle of the main trade routes it hasn’t made sense to me for a while. How do the ships get in/out at all?

Aside from guildhalls, I’d like to see an integrated Lions Arch, with architecture representing all of the races but with a uniquely LA twist. Like how the skritt paint the things they take and make them look skrittish, the buildings in LA could be painted with bright blues and golds in similar schemes to the old wooden city. So reguardless of who built it, humans, charr, asura or norn, it could have a unified colour scheme and tie in that way.

I’m not sure if the Sylvari would stay in as great a number as they were before, after witnessing such devastation I anticipate many of them will want to return to the grove for much needed R and R and not want to return.

Heroic Edition

Essarious Quw.8946

I got the collectors edition too and I don’t feel like they owe me a kitten ed thing

You got exactly what you paid for, and that pretty sweet Rytlock figurine (mine has been rechristened Simon and now has a pretty bow around his tail) was the bulk of the cost for the CE. Not to mention the fancy tin full of art prints and the audio CD.

To be honest the rewards they are offering in the heroic edition are pretty weak, they should at least be giving these new customers something you can’t get in the gemstore for pocket change. Are you really so upset you’re going to quit over skins that are worth like £8.50 (and don’t even look that good)?

The main issue: players want to farm

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Essarious Quw.8946

Essarious Quw.8946

If you don’t do a little bit of farming every now and then, your endgame is constantly crippled by bad finances. You can still have fun in the game without having money but you’ll still feel a ways when you see everyone else running around with shiny things and you’re still in temple skins.

It’s a necessary evil of any game. I just don’t get why anet take so many steps to discourage farming, then put a repeating festival onto their roster that seems to be the crown farmvillion. I have no idea whether they are for or against it anymore XD

The Historian - for people who missed content

in Living World

Posted by: Essarious Quw.8946

Essarious Quw.8946

We feel like our fractals dungeon is the perfect fit for this kind of “historical” experience, similar to the way the BMP worked in Gw1. Even better, it already exists and has explanations behind why these slices of time are available to discover and experience within.

In the future, you’ll see certain types of content that was part of larger story experiences be updated to work within the fractals dungeon and return there where it makes sense to do so. Of course, the specific rewards and achievements will not return since those are intended to be completed as the story unfolds, but the content itself will be used to expand out our fractals experience and serve as a place to continue to experience great (and strange) moments in history.

Myes but what about the first part of the suggestion. The recap of the story with the relevant cutscenes? We’ve just been given a book item that essentially does that, what about an NPC that has a different cutscene to tell the story of each of the living story arcs, without filling our inventories up with items that recap it.

Last Stand at Southsun: Feedback/Opinion

in Last Stand at Southsun

Posted by: Essarious Quw.8946

Essarious Quw.8946

Things I would have done differently:

Storytelling:
- A cutscene on Pearl Islet letting you know what the flip is going on, instead of Kiel stood about talking to no-one in particular. Accessed via an instance similar to the Braham/Rox cutscenes.

- An instance in Steampipe Steading following on from that cutscene where you kill waves of crazed beasts and then question the survivors and find out whodunnit. Instead of Kiel and a random settler just having a chat over and over again after a dynamic event.

Mechanics:
- Remove Canach’s knockback in the Canach’s Lair instance. It’s the straw that breaks the camel’s back and it’s why people hate the instance. It is not fun.
- Add verbal cues instead of spamming the chatbox with yellow text.

- Remove the elementals from the Subdirector NULL instance. It’s the element that makes it impossible for PUGs and any group that’s not mostly guardians. It is not fun.
- Add verbal cues instead of spamming the chatbox with yellow text.

Misc:
- Either stop putting weapon skins in the game for a limited time via tokens gained from chests, or leave them in the game permanently. If I knew that from now until the end of GW2 that I had a chance to get a molten weapon skin or a sclerite skin from a BLC, then I wouldn’t throw so many of the kitten ed things away or sell them on the TP. Just saying.

- The event in Blakestone Caverns should probably have been deactivated for the duration of Last Stand at Southsun. It’s inconvenient as flip.

That’s really it, everything else I’ve enjoyed. I usually play GW2 with my partner and brother, but I’ve been flying solo for the more difficult parts of Southsun as it’s been frustrating them and they’ve just totally given up. There is a difference between elite content and alienating content. If you want to put elite content into the game then please add a “hard mode” option to dungeons rather than making things unplayable for more casual players or people new to the genre.

GW2 was marketed as being “an MMO for people who don’t play MMOs”. This feels very much like content designed for the hardcore.

EDIT: Could you also post an official feedback thread in every living story forum from now on? Since one always ends up getting made, why not just post it and sticky it at the top where everyone can find it?

Essarious Quw.8946

Scott, I do hope you intend to add this information into the game somehow. There’s so much lore that’s not presented in-game itself, so many behind-the-scenes explanations that would solve unanswered questions for players that bring confusion.

Please, can you find a means to put at least much more of these background aspects into the game? Not stuff that’s in your face, but still somehow determinable so that you wouldn’t have to come to the forums to explain these confusions and oddities that, with the explanation, makes a lot more (if not perfect) sense? And even just more filler background lore.

I absolutely agree with this. Even if its just one or two NPCs in the grove talking about why the Nightmare Court look different to the residents of the Grove it would be most entirely welcome.

I really wish they’d left this as a permanent thing you could get from the Black Lion Chests. Each time they add a set of skins like this they should just leave it as a permanent rare chance to get it, which would make the chests more valuable to the players (or at least players like me).

I really like Southsun as it is now. The drop rates are much improved (still not on a parr with Orr but eh), the “escort the lionguard” event now has a nice number of break points where your skills can recharge enough to take down the karka it spawns and there are so many people, it feels like the Beta zerg again

But you know; I’m reserving my actual judgement and waiting to see what they do after the fancy event is over.
