Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed the personal story is a complete mess since the last patch. If you have a character that has completed it, check out their journal and you will notice the order of some missions, specifically the cursed shore ones, are in the wrong chapter. The result of this is that, in running a newer character of mine through the story, I skipped from “The Steel Tide” to “Victory or Death.” There was no cleansing of Orr as I have done a number of times before on other characters. What?? Maybe this is just me, and it’s a bug. Otherwise it means new players will be denied the experience of those stories. Gj.
Add me to the list. Being from Tarnished Coast since pretty much the roll-out of the game, my achievements report the correct placing (2nd), but I didn’t get a chest. It says “unlocked” on the achievement screen, but sadly I did no such thing. This is disappointing to say the least, and I hope it gets solved quickly.
Light Dash stops your Autorun, you must hold down W to keep on moving. If you don’t want the final awkward roll at the finish of your Light Dash, cancel it after the majority of the speed boost.
I’m aware of that. I doubt anyone let’s go of w in a race very often. It’s more of a lag issue.
First off, I’m a big fan of gw2, and for the most part I love the latest update. The aesthetic of the bazaar is fantastic. However, the Sanctum Sprint….well, simply put it’s pathetic. I didn’t think things could get worse than crabtoss, but you managed to do it. To explain, I think the general idea is great….the course is fun and the new skills are cool, however the execution is beyond miserable. It is so twitchy and buggy as to be utterly frustrating. Often you’ll hit a skill, say Leap, and see the animation, but your character doesn’t respond to the desired mechanic and you end up falling, even though you knew exactly what to do. Or you use lightning pull and inexplicably miss the target, falling yet again. Or you use Light Dash and end up no farther ahead of your opponent than you were, sometimes even stopping completely in a weird, jerky manner.
Please take the time to polish these updates before you put them out. It is just embarrassing. I’d rather have fewer updates of better quality than this. Again, the ideas are sound, but the actual gameplay is unresponsive and glitchy. Hope to see things improve.
Wow. Love the new dungeon, but….by Merlin’s Beard, please nerf the Golems in the Frizz fight.
That is all.
Sonetime between last night and tonight, I guess with the last little patch, kegbrawl got stuck. Meaning, scores, assists, wins, etc, are not counted by the game, and do not show up on the activities achievements list. Please fix this asap. I know kegbrawl doesn’t get a lot of attention, but some people enjoy it, and I’m very close to kegmaster.
Crabtoss is a joke. I’m actually stunned that an addition of such dismal quality made it into gw2. As for this achievement, it’s ridiculous. Most achievements in this require skill, sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. This, as mentioned above, is dumb luck.
I have to agree with Constantine. It’s one of the worst additions so far. It’s nothing but a spam-fest. Seriously, did anyone even test this game before it was given the green light? Although keg brawl has its issues, at least it requires some semblance of skill and timing. Crabtoss is just bad.
Why would anet waste developer resources on permanent content? It’s not as important as temporary stuff!
I sincerely hope that was sarcasm.
I’m not a fan of temporary content simply because if you happen to miss it due to real life obligations, you’re out if luck. I understand what Anet is attempting to achieve with their living world idea, but it is too exclusive an approach. I saw a very simple solution proposed a while ago, that I think would make everyone happy. If there were a storyteller or lore master character of some sort in Lion’s Arch, who you could talk to in order to replay past “temporary” content, they would maintain the dynamic living world they are going for, while allowing new players, as well as those that simply missed the events, to enjoy the content and get the titles. What do you all think?
I could not agree more. It cheapens the entire notion of a legendary weapon. Mind you, there’s not much that’s legendary about them to begin with, but this is just too much.
Not this topic again. If I wanted fishing in a mmo, I’d play runescape. No thanks.
Although I read you while post, you lost me at the title. The words “ranger” and “nerf” do not belong in the same sentence. Check your facts and try playing the game.
Although I agree on most points, don’t get your hopes up. These events aren’t going to change.
sounds like you have major issues with your system and/or connection.
you might also want to review your target settings
It is well known there are major targeting issues in this game. It is ridiculous that right-click targeting does not have an option to be disabled yet. People have been complaining about it literally since day 1.
Just no. They SHOULD be purely aesthetic. However, as I’ve posted on the other thread about legendaries, it’s the actual process of getting them that should feel epic. As it is its just a mind-numbing grind. There’s nothing about it that requires skill, or immerses you a quest worthy of the name legendary.
Why choose between the two coolest classes in the game? Make one of each! My main is a ranger, so I am inclined to favour them over every other class, but mesmers are unique and really fun to play.
I’m very happy to see this post resurface, and have to reply again just because I am so strongly in favour of the changes proposed. The thing is, gw2 so amazing and innovative, it is sad to see them drop the ball so completely on the pinnacle item in the game. Truly, legendaries as they currently stand are a joke. First, it is absurd that a legendary weapon should be able to be bought and sold on the TP. This is just wrong. Secondly, the actual process of getting a legendary is nothing but a legendary grind. It seems nearly universally reviled by players and has absolutely zero fun factor. To be clear, it sucks, not because it is hard, but because it is just lame. It could have been designed to feel totally epic, as most of the rest of gw2 does. What a shame. The thing is, I’d bet that 98% of the people who have legendaries either ran CoF p1 100 times a day, or spent a bunch of real world money to get them. How is this okay? I truly hope Anet considers swallowing their pride on this one and changes the whole system.
You want mounts, and I want to be able to eat a magic flower that lets me shoot fireballs. Unfortunately we’re both out I luck. Want to know why? This is the wrong game! Besides, there are tons of issues to be addressed before major programming additions like mounts can even be looked at. Sorry, but it isn’t going to happen. Wake up and smell the skritt man.
Congratulations. This is possibly the most ridiculous request I have seen on these forums, and I’ve seen a lot of them. Why do you even bother with this game?
I doubt we’ll ever see this, but I love the idea. +1
+1. This topic has come up numerous times in my guild. We would all love to see them happen.
Imo thieves do not need a nerf of any kind, with the sole exception of the ridiculous ability to finish someone while in stealth.
They only seem tough because everything else in pve can be steamrolled blindfolded. They should be challenging imo.
This makes so much sense, and I can only hope we’ll see it soon!
Love it! This would make an already spectacular environment even better!
This is actually a fantastic idea. I hope a dev reads this and agrees!
Once again, I have to shake my head at what people will complain about. Do you not want any challenge or sense of adventure? Honestly, the cities are not that confusing. Sometimes I feel sorry for the devs because so many players simply want to be able to sleepwalk through their game. The thing is, there’s no pressure, no race to finish first (unless you care about leaderboards, which are ridiculous), just explore and have fun!
Please no. Leave this kind of tedium to runescape.
Ugh. Ignore the people riding the “rangers are horrible” bandwagon. I personally devastate in all areas of the game with my ranger. Try thinking for yourself and see what works for you. Your skills will be completely different from someone else’s, so you can’t really make the kinds of comparisons you are asking for. For what it’s worth though, both these classes are awesome, just utilized very very differently.
Although I agree for the most part, you lost me at “awesome content like the Karka event.”
As with everyone else, I’m saddened and amazed that such a critical fix is STILL an issue. I would much rather see this resolved than have new content.
Dodging really helps. Give it a shot. Seriously, these forums are full of people wanting to remove every aspect of this game that makes it even remotely challenging.
Now I realize this post might ruffle a few feathers, so just to be clear this is only my opinion. I’m seeing an issue with spvp. It’s not a huge issue, but still kind of annoys me. When a team starts to get behind in points, people start leaving. One player called it rage, I have a few other names for it. Regardless, I think it’s poor sportsmanship and leaves the remaining team-members in a tough spot as few people are inclined to join a losing team. I have seen miraculous comebacks happen, and it makes for a really fun game. Now, it may only be my imagination, but I think this trend has increased with the introduction of the leaderboards. Rankings in the leaderboards are based on win %. If people really care about such things, there’s no way they will stay with a losing team to tough it out.
I suggest a penalty of some sort if you leave a game in progress. Obviously there are legit reasons for leaving a game, such as getting an important phone call or whatever. So I was thinking there should be a time penalty in place, preventing you from immediately jumping into a different match. 5 or 10 minutes or something. I think this may help remedy the issue and provide incentive to do your best everytime.
Now there are occassions when you join a team that is perfoming really poorly and it can be frustrating, but that’s the chance you take if you just join the queue. There are other times when you join a match with only a few people and they turn out to be dueling. In this case you could just stick it out or leave and do something else for a while.
What do you think?
This is just a silly thread. Maybe you were just looking for views…but here I am replying! However, I only want to say that suddenly having 1 mil would defeat the point of the game for many people, which is to achieve things through your own effort and have fun. With that much gold you could have everything, but so what?
I’m finding it hard to believe this post. It’s an MMO. If you are struggling you have some options:
1. Learn to play
2. Join a guild or make some in-game friends to help make things easier
3. Leave the game and buy an Xbox
Please let there never, ever be henchmen.
Seriously? First, what’s to like about “drinking all the time” in this game. There is no real effect or fun factor. Second, drinking semi-useful drinks like elixir of heroes on an occasional basis, say five times a day, would take oh…a little over 54 years :p
Third…are we really still talking about thirst slayer?
Okay, I have to admit I’m a little surprised this thread is still around. I just want to
Clarify one thing….I never once considered the story method “cheating.” I, perhaps naively, assumed that since it was still In the game seven months after launch and most players seemed to know about it, it was a viable option. Clearly I was wrong. However, this doesn’t change the fact that I think it’s a ludicrous amount of work for a little achievement that doesn’t even grant a title. Grinding just to say you’ve done something is dumb.
First, there was a total of one click involved when doing it through the story, with a lot of afk time, as I already mentioned. Second I have agree with Melchior. The real issue here is the absurd decimal placement.
It’s all in the patch notes. You used to be able to go to the level 8 Sylvari story quest and continuously drink a certain elxir. It took 44 hours of afk time to complete the achievement. Now imagine having to click your way through all that….
No, it’s not 1000, or even 10,000, it’s100,000 drinks. Contrary to what they said at launch, it just seems like Anet is making this game more and more of a grind, at the expense of the fun. I still think it’s the best mmo around, but things like this are just frustrating. Everyone enjoys finding the little loopholes and tricks. It’s a valid part of the game as long as it doesn’t give anyone an advantage over another player or cause imbalance.
Well Anet, I commend you on you timing. I was literally just in the process of getting the thirst slayer achievement when your update ensured I will now never get a completion. Barring some future event-related method of attaining a swift completion, I highly doubt that anyone, in all the days to come, will ever get this achievement. I actually thought it was kind of cool that you had to know exactly where to go and what to do to get this done. Some might have seen this as an exploit, but I saw it as savvy game playing.
The truly frustrating aspect of this, is that now the only people to have the achievement are those who got it before the update, giving them an permanent edge on points.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for challenges and achievements that are difficult and time-consuming to attain (eg. giant slayer), but thirst slayer is now just silly.
Awesome idea. I would definitely us a mini if this was a feature.
Have to admit, you made me smile.
That’s an interesting point. Is this true? Is every patch the result of player requests or merely what someone somewhere has decided is best for the game.
I’ve been spending a good portion of today browsing the forums and checking out people’s response to the latest f&f ipdate. While it seems there are some who seem either unaffected or ambivalent about the patch, many are up in arms. While this is inevitable in an mmo, I hope the devs are listening. Furthermore, I hope they are prepared to respond. As a player immersed in a game you have come to love, you can’t help but become invested and defensive of it. So when it is tampered with in a way you find upsetting, it is natural to want to discuss it. So far there have been a LOT of one-sided conversations happening here, and I hope the devs will respond. Yes, you can’t please everyone, and it isn’t feasible or necessary to address every little complaint, but something is wrong when this many people are saying many of the same things (ie ranger nerfing, mystic forge gambling, wvw character-bound abilities).
I know it’s wishful thinking, but it would be nice to know someone is at least paying attention to our complaints.
Just no. The last thing we need is more grinding.
Okay, I’ll admit it, I love my ranger. She was the first character I got to 80, and my first to defeat Zaitan. I really like the whole idea behind rangers…collecting pets and being deadly from range. That said, it is no secret that they are known to be the weakest class in the game, and reviled by the majority if players. However, I think this is largely due to the inexplicable lack of love they get from developers. This is a mystery to me. In a game that repeatedly expresses its desire for class balance, why are rangers so obviously ignored? I can only request that in the next update, rangers get some attention, and by attention I don’t mean a nerf like the one they just received for quickness. As if they needed that
This opinion may not be shared by everyone, but after playing a ranger for so long, I can no longer ignore the situation. I love the game, and think for the most part the foundation has been lain for a great game. Still, I have a couple of issues, as do most people, this being one of the most prominent.
Excellent post. There is currently a very similar post under “suggestions” that says nearly the same thing. It seems, as players, we are nearly united on this subject. Please Anet, have some humility and listen to what the people who play this game are saying. Even before these changes have been implemented, most people are deciding to focus on one character, which is the exact opposite of your intended outcome. I agree that our dedication to WvW has already been shown; we are playing it aren’t we? These plans need to be reconsidered.
