Simple and obvious answer: You’re rank 15 on LBs right now. Yes, you might not be good, but the game is going to register you as a great player because of your rank… Either stop playing so much to go against worse players, or stop QQing and get gud.

Nuff said.

That isn’t true at all. People’s ranking on the leaderboard has nothing to do with their MMR or matchmaking. There are currently 3 people in the top 25 with a win rate above 60% so nobody is confusing any of these players with being the actual top 25.

When you play that many games you are bound to go on losing streaks like that solo queueing, especially when you play all day.

Actually Darres has pretty high MMR as far as I can tell. I encounter top players all the time while running solo queue and Darres gets put in the same matches as I am pretty often.

Few things…

I am inherently for this due to the lack of counter play against stealth. Having the garantee to either do damage or have the full duration is a bit strong, yes it’s inherently a nerf but was a poor design choice to begin with and altho I sympathize with a glass build taking a hit like this it’s really not a case where thief loses its survivability, just counter play to it’s offense… And really will make little diffrence for well played thieves who play not predictably.

The other thing is… No I don’t see phants and clones revealing Mesmers. Not only is it unreliable for AI to break your stealth but the moderate access to stealth would just make it unviable. However if such a thing was implemented, ranger pet and engie turrets would have to reveal their respective classes, as well as AI spawned thieves for thief classes… And this affects any current or future runes that could possibly proc stealth.

That being said, if a mesmer hits a blocking/dogging/invuln target directly they should be properly revealed as well.

The last thing I want to point out and has been pointed out on these topics before is that other games with fair PvP usually has the exact mechanic we are discussing. And works out fine.

A change like this would also affect the mesmer vs thief matchup and might make them viable for the slot by not just being food

You do realize that it takes more than half of your initiative to go into stealth and stealth utilities have a large base cooldown right? In a fight losing a backstab to a dodge. If I lose all my damage after black powdering into heartseekering I would have to either use the rest of it to back away or fight someone at full health with 2/3 initiative. The number of evades and blocks most pvp builds have is huge. Losing stealth while not being able to use my main damage combo and more than half my initiative just ruins any stealth based build in competitive play which is already plagued by low risk high reward bunker builds.

I don’t see how getting extra sprockets gives you an advantage over other players. Better gear doesn’t mean you’re going to win a 1v1 fight. More gold won’t make you a better player. Gold in this game is worthless in all honesty, you don’t perform better because you have ascended > exotics.

Whole point of buying the whole set is to never need the towns for anything, but at this point walking to the TP or whatnot from any city is much faster than waiting for one to expire. Not cool.

I have both the permanent black lion merchant and trading post contract, which in their description say: Double click to summon personal black lion merchant/delivery agent, for 5 mintues, allowing you to pick up trading post purchases and profits/ allowing you to access basic supplies and sell loot.

Two issues with these items.

1. They tell you you can double click to account bind them, which is fair warning, but do not give you confirmation to bind them to your account, so be careful. I did this with full intention to bind them, but considering how expensive and rare they are they should really ask for confirmation.

2. This is the worst part about the items, which makes me incredibly frustrated. You can’t have both NPCs out at the same time. If I have the trading post merchant, I cannot use the black lion merchant and vice versa until one despawns. Given that the items are strictly for convenience purposes, this is seriously dissapointing. Both items cost over 400 gold each, and are meant to be convenient, but having to wait five minutes to use the other is absurd. Either they should despawn the other on spawning new one, which would be a good design as they would not clog up maps as server using is an issue apparantly. That, or they should open a window that allows you to pick up/ sell and buy basic supplies like the banker contract does. Either of these makes a good alternative if having both out is an issue for server performance.

If these changes are not made however, do not under any circumstances buy both items, as they aren’t really convenient if one restricts the other.

These reviews and suggestions come out of over 1700 hours of playing engineer in all game modes. They will only comment on utilites that do not see frequent use in PvP specifically and recommend changes to put them on par with other utilities for greater build diversity.

Elixir H
This healing skill is pretty good as it offers a defensive boon after casting it, however the swiftness that you a chance to gain is pretty useless as engis already have many sources of swiftness. A better boon in place of it if not removing it completely would be vigor.

Med Kit
This skill, I don’t see taken at all because it’s simply inferior, the only reasonably practical use of it is to drop a plethora of bandages before a fight begins to setup a fight that goes in your favour for healing given you move around. To put this utility on line with other healing skills, I would recommend activiting the Kit remove stuns and crowd control effects such as fear, cripple and chill, though the latter may make it too strong, but at least as a stunbreak so a player can actually get a use out of the 1-5 skills. Another improvement would be to reduce the cast time for the 1-5 skill as it is not practical to have a cast time on such small heals. Also the #4 given the long cooldown should remove 2 or three conditions rather than just one.

A.E.D
Not very often used, though the uniqueness of the skill gives it merits for more offensive static discharge builds. A longer range on the toolbelt skill would go a long way to making it more useful.

Turrets in General
Not much to say here, since I don’t run them unless I’m going static discharge, if turrets were to be buffed though, the toolbelt skills, which are already strong as is other than for the flame turret would probably need a damage reduction or cooldown increase. Not really sure what to say about the flame turret, perhaps a longer duration on the aoe from the toolbelt, and better reactivity with the smokefield.

Elixir U
Rather than gambling on the side effect you want, a completely new one might be favourable as the RNG can really be devastating if you get unlucky gambling with it. Perhaps the sideeffect could be an increase of all active cooldowns by 30%.

Throw Mine
This utility is pretty strong toolbeltwise for high risk power builds, however the utility itself could use a bigger radius for the blowback and perhaps two or three boons removed rather than simply one. Other than that it is still decent.

Flamethrower
I don’t usually use this, but the #4 could use a bit more duration on the burns and autoattacks could do with reworking. The 2,3, and 5 are solid though.

Personal Battering Ram
A personal favourite utility of mine, the toolbelt is decent as a 6 second cripple is no laughing matter, however the utility could do with a slight range increase as well as some other effect to it. If it were unblockable or applied a few stacks of vulnerability, or both it would go a long way to having the utility with the best animation in game see some love.

Elixir C
This skill while good already, could greatly benefit from not having a cast time, thought it might put it over the top.

Slick Shoes
This is honestly a good utility, the only qualm I have with it is how hard it can be to land the knockdown.

Elixir Gun
This kit is pretty solid, however the #3 skill is fairly useless as the conditions do not last long enough to justify using it even in a teamfight unless against a heavy condition based team, to make the #3 better, removal personal conditions as well as teamate conditions would make it a skill to actually use in practical situations.

Mortar
Instead of being something the player has to stand still and fire, perhaps it can fire on it’s own, preferring to target those the player has targetted, and have a second activatable function which fires the #5 skill when the player wants it having a ground target option as well.

Elixir X
I honestly like this utility but it is hardly ever used and could use changes, though I don’t quite know what.

Honestly, since I play a full bunker build I can outlast pretty much anyone while decapping or holding a point, which means I win in most cases without either party going down. Hardest to stay alive against are probably thieves if they’re good and power necros.

The most effective builds I’ve encountered in teamfights are probably the typical healing signet bunker warriors, highly skilled thieves, zerker necros who are good at avoiding fire, condi necros who don’t blindly throw their burst out and point bunker engineers.

The build I’ve run in spvp and World vs World for a while now is 10/0/30/30, investing in either accelerant packed turrets or Forceful explosions in explosives, Taking Stabilized armor or Protective shield depending on enemy team composition in Spvp, Elite Supplies and Elixir Infused Bombs in Inventions, and Protection Injection, Backpack regenerator and Automated Response in Alchemy. As the title explains, the build is build revolving around full clerics armor capitalising on toughness and healing power.

The runeset I use is Water and I always carry a sigil of leeching, accompanied by a sigil of life if I decide to run shield. I use Healing Turret, bomb kit, elixir gun and tool kit with supply crate for Spvp and bombs with elixir B and elixir gun in WvW.

In WvW you can expect to be in the front line, and stay in it for extended periods of time constantly doing some damage to enemies around you, but more importantly healing players around you as you run around and generally outlasts other bunker builds.

In Spvp, you can expect to survive a 1v1 fight against almost anyone as long as you pay attention to your cooldowns and use dodge rolls and blocks at the right time as well. Of course surviving a 1v1 fight indefinetely isn’t good enough, the build is also excellent for neutralising otherpoints as it comes with a few knockbacks on moderate cooldowns which you can use to exploit downtime in your target’s stability and blocks. Please don’t expect to kill anyone with this build, it almost never happens, however you can expect to be useful both solo to neutering points and teamfights keeping teamates health up while knocking other players around and outlasting the other team.

My favourite thing to do with this build is backcap an enemy point while nothing is going as as I can easily bunker it down against two players if they aren’t full damage or stun builds for a good amount of time, which is generally gamechanging in a stalemate.

Now go, show them the power of healing power, because with this build you get 1388 as a base in Spvp and I’ve reached over 2000 with food buffs and stacks in WvW.

So my group encountered a bug where after I logged off I could not reenter our fractal when accepting the reentry prompt. Logging off and on, switching characters and leaving the party did nothing to fix it. If you do encounter this bug, go to your character selection screen and guest to another server and you will be able to get back inside.

I try my utmost to never sound like an elitist kittenbag, but this thread subject just screams “casual WvW player”.

You’ve never been able to pick up your loot in WvW while dead. That you’re making this topic now is clearly because you’ve never had an issue with it until it actually affected you, which is to say: now that you’ve made your first foray into WvW to get the achievement points for the season.

My advice: invest in some tank gear and don’t just hang around in a defeated state. Hanging around dead is especially stupid if you’re fighting for SMC! Waypoint back to the closest point and run back to help hold/take the castle, don’t sit there and whine that your precious bags are beyond your reach. The serious players you’re leeching off have no intention of halting their attack just to resurrect you.

And people wonder why the players who know how to play competitively and win in the WvW match-ups are kitten ed that individuals like OP have flooded the loading queues…

That appeared after I died. I was one of the last ones alive. If I got loot while downed I would’ve rallied, but it appeared after I died. Also our spawn is on hillsside.

I’ve pmed like three devs about that and they won’t do anything about it. I even jump inside of it and then make my grand escape against bewildered arrow cart firing defenders to make a point of how big an issue it is, but apparantly not. Meanwhile you ran back non stop from your spawn for 20 minutes.

Doesn’t take a genius to figure out who got more kills…

Pretty sure we came out ahead in gold after wiping 50 of your omegas.

Poor FA, you used to be all about “da bagz” and “da fightz”, not “dat economic rationalization”.

When you have 15+ omegas at once, there isn’t much room for open field fighting. We were fighting you for two hours at SMC holding it. Then you sent 23 to SMC and we still fought you off for 20 minutes killing several golems. When it came down to our keep it was down to 30 of us in coms, including those idling in the channel while you had a ton of omegas constantly making bubbles and spinning, whereas you had you entire mapzerg of at least 40 in there.
