Ascended gear ruined my game experience for GW2 and I decided to quit. I just got sick of the feeling of to do things that gave me the mats i needed to get the gear, that’s all i did with most of my game time and I stopped having fun. This is after making about 7-9 ascended weapons for my toons, once the armor came out though i said forget it. I haven’t had many other games to play so I logged in today to check the game out again but after about 10 mins I just didn’t feel like playing. GG on ruining the game grinding gamers; oh well c’est la vie.
Your game got grindy, ascended weapons/armor lead people to do only content that gives the most beneficial time/material ratio for ascended gear becasue everyone will strive for the best items stat-wise. This isn’t fun and the overall game experience is suffering from it.
I agree with the OP, handling this was very half kitten d. The only reliable way to acquire ascended items is too spend insane amounts of gold to craft them which is one facet of the game. Even running fractal 49 over and over again doesn’t get you anything because of the terrible RNG. This game was suppose to be about content and not about a grind but thats been thrown to the wayside due too all the account bound materials. I’ve honestly been playing less and less because I’m sick of grinding out materials and it’s most likely only a matter of time before I quit this game.
FOTM lvl 50 on two characters, and 30 odd on two others. I could care less if they lower the level amount to 30 as long as they make fractals worth running. The only reason they were worth running before was for skins, which arent even the coolest skins around anymore.
oh and for an ascended back piece.
If anything needs a nerf it’s mesmer escape utils.
Just wanted to share this short simple but very traditional Asura Dance my guild-mates and I made.
I thought Sylvari were going to be like Guild wars version of Elves. Then it looks like they went that route at first then changed it to making them plant people and still keeping the Elven type of ground roots with the being in-tune with nature and the forest and all that jazz. Scarlet actually looks scary, the concept art makes her look subtle. She is a fun villain though.
Well the name “Sylvari” comes from the latin root “silva” meaning “forest” or “woods”. So it would make sense that they would resemble plants. It connects better with their name.

High Pop server tells lower pop server to learn Wvw tactics
Low pop server says they don’t like playing a certain way and asserts their superiority by claiming their players are better pound for pound and win unless massively outnumbered.
Then you insert the random small roaming guilds talking trash as they own group based built stragglers/random pugs with their roaming Thieves/Mesmer’s.
This matchup blows, Bp and NSP need to step up their game.
The trinity is for noobs who can’t adapt to this style.

+1 to the no implementation, weapons were implemented horribly. Not everyone crafts nor has the money to craft to 500. I have so far made a total of 4 ascended weapons but it’s cost me an arm and a leg and I’ve had to resort to playing the game in “most profitable” and definitely not “how i want” mode. Also every other method of obtaining an ascended weapon (dropped by chests) is a tease at best.

I’d still love to change my race on one or more characters for aesthetic reasons. I’d re roll but I’d lose out on too many things I’ve put into the character such as fractal level, gear, dyes etc. Heck they can maybe make it reset our personal story to the new race and also make it so you’d have to un-equip any cultural pieces you’re wearing.

I’d go for a race change, it took me awhile to find a nice asura model to create but now that I have fond one id like to change one of my existing classes to an asura.
I use to Wvw all the time back when the game was new and I thoroughly enjoyed it much more than spvp. I just liked the fact that you didn’t know who was around the corner so it made things more exciting but now with the addition of bloodlust stacks, guard leach and applied fortitude stacked on top of the ability to get 100+ crit damage I see people die much too fast. It’s getting to a point where I’ve changed my stance and feel i get better, longer and overall much more thought out fights in spvp.
I realize WvW isn’t meant to be “Balanced” but there need to be a line somewhere. Anyone else feel the same?
I wouldn’t mind ascended weapons so much if they didn’t keep changing the meta around. The last thing I want to do is create a weapon that becomes obsolete.
With exotics changing builds/gear in PVE was doable. This won’t be so with ascended.
the 50 second cooldown is actually pretty long, sure it’s a great escape but if the theif returns back he no longer has a way to break the next stun and is for the most part dead meat.
Should only require half the ascended mats that 2 handed weapons require.
I beleive it’s fairly obvious why this should be the case as it seems much fairer when trying to equip a toon that uses 2 handed weapons vs 1 handed weapons.
Beham didn’t award pyreals and breached wall doesn’t have a chest.
What’s the deal with spectral walk over spectral armor? I mean in general not just this video.
Population and zerging for this match up goes like this TC > FA > MAG; to say otherwise is being blind to the obvious.

if there’s anything that’s annoying in the stomp/downed arguments is the fact that certain classes need 3 stomp attempts to succeed due to stealth and teleport downed abilities.
DAOC is outdated junk, get over it.
So I’m going through builds for my newest lvl 80 character, but everything i find seems outdated. Is there still a way to make fear last 2 seconds? I know Necro runes give 20% and master of terror gives 50%, but is that alone enough? I’m testing this in Spvp and I only seem to see one tick.
obviously in a non spvp environment I can add +coni duration food but I’m curious what people stack to get the most out of fear.

Uhm there was a post somewhere that mentioned they were in fact looking at changing the scoring system to alleviate the population differences.
Too bad you feel that way, I’ve met some of the nicest and most skilled people in pvp while dueling out in WvW.
But don’t be quick to judge those who dual most of them are also very skilled WvW players who do in fact assist their server, sometimes you just need to mix it up a bit.

Since the patch I’ve received a huge increase in skill lag, something I only use to get in very populated WvW maps I now get out in the open world while doing the balloon the new events and also while in Divinity’s reach. I can see other players move and use skills I can see chat moving I can even chat myself but I cannot use any skills. What gives?
Constant skill lag and disconnects today I think I disconnected around a dozen times. That definitely doesn’t make gauntlet any easier.

when it came to tactics and winning vs outnumbered opponents DAOC was garbage, go shadowbane or go home.
Uhm what an odd thread, as an owner of two legendary weapons I didn’t get them to impress anyone, I got the ones I have now because I thought they looked very cool. Could care less who is/isn’t impressed.
Tried this in spvp, different from my d/p (obviously) but I did very well with it, great build.
I keep getting this bug where while in combat when I go into stealth I get the stealth icon; the enemy can’t see me but my character doesn’t receive the see through silhouette animation and look solid still, this causes confusion as to weather or not I did in fact go into stealth.
Good afternoon fellow warriors, since I like watching other Warrior WvW vids I decided to make and share one of my own (this is my first ever video in any game). Even though I have several classes (thief, guard. mesmer) Warrior has been my favorite despite that fact it sometimes feels as though I need to work twice as hard to win.
I won’t claim to be great; as you’ll see i make plenty of mistakes usually by hundred blading the air.
The fights I had were good and I enjoyed them so special thanks to my enemies, I definitely got a run for my money.

Right now we can use mango pie’s to regen health while playing the game. Is this intentional?
He spams his move way too much its ridiculous.
the only nerfs i could see them doing is increasing the cool downs on some traits and removing the break stun application on one or two abilities and adding them somewhere else.
Its much to punishing for melee builds; your options are move or don’t move; I could see the addition of another DoT based attack but one that hurts movement doesn’t fit a meta in which movement/dodging is a fundamental.
