ive played gw2 for almost 6k hours, started at headstart release, but i pretty much quit playing since about 2 months ago. was a regular everyday player except for a couple weeks during frost and flames in LS s1.
when the expansion was announced i was a little hyped, and i was considering buying it, but i held off and realized so many things i dont like about the game, the company, and new features coming with HoT.
first of all, no new dungeons. i loved dungeons. i loved story and explorable. i loved going through it and learning it, going slow and teaching people who didnt know how to do it, and speedrunning it. now i know theres fractal content coming, and i was running fractals daily, but each fractal is about 3 rooms with connecting hallways and it just doesnt compare to the size of the dungeons.
(possibly) no underwater content. i havent seen anything hinting at any at least. they removed it from WvW and removed raid on the capricorn (pvp). okay okay, i understand there may have been a majority of people that hated underwater combat or felt it was too slow to travel through. in my opinion though, its the best underwater combat ive played in a game. i think it looks beautiful and its fun to explore.
the release of new content. i loved living story season 1. i thought they did a very good job with it. season 2 just seemed like a fraction of the content in single player missions with a lack of updates randomly in between. even the festivals seemed to get a little worse every time. even though its mostly rehashed content, they added or removed little things that just didnt help. repeating the bloody prince single player missions with tassi, lunar new year replacing(?) dragon bash stuff, not opening super adventure box. after LS s2 ended there is months and months of no content, understandably because they are pouring everything into the expansion, but it just isnt a good way to keep people in the game. this section is just my opinion and can probably receive a ton of criticism.
the newly added maps.
-southsun was fun doing the event when it first opened up, but it ended up not being used for much outside of daily karka queen, karka shell farming for gold, and possibly a little t6 mat farming just from the high level enemies (that actually drop loot!).
-i love dry top and think the concept is fun. i love the crystal movement skills to get around, doing the events as a map, and the skins are actually well made. the only problem is the size of the zone is just so small compared to the base maps from release.
-silverwastes has the same size problem. its the same size as dry top and both of them combined are possibly as big as brisban wildlands next to it, including the height differences adding new layers in the new maps. the concept of the map is awesome, and it seems like they carried that into HoT which is fine. the bosses and enemies are a great addition. the labyrinth seems like it became a waste of time, while chest farming became one of the best farms ever. i have no problem with people running chest laps, but i feel like running in a circle opening chests shouldnt reward so much (lets face it, keys are very easy to get and can be earned by auto attacking vinewrath trash a few runs).
i understand maybe i shouldnt complain about them because they are free content, but after almost three years releasing three maps smaller than the existing maps is a little dull.
so, looking back on all that, it gives me an idea on what to look forward to if i bought the expansion. would they do anything differently? maybe. but i would rather wait and buy the game at a later point.
as for new stuff, specializations seem a little underwhelming. i feel like they could have made them more independent from the base class instead of just adding a weapon and a few skills. no news on how many maps are in HoT is a big reason for me to wait. will they have “half” the game at release and have the rest of it become available through updates? who knows.
i may buy HoT at a later date. but im for sure not preordering it based on what we have seen so far and not buying it at release before i see whats actually in it.

doubt itll happen because all they have to do is release their purple and red weapons and everyone will be happy enough. close to no work for them to do for skins.
i dont see why courtyard is there but raid on the capricorn isnt.
just take it out of the ranked rotation if so many people hate it. i personally love underwater combat.
any swiftness + defiant stance + sure footed trait (defense)
can also use bulls rush and signet of stamina (1 or 2 extra dodges)
spam 1 while running, use defiant stance about half way through
warriors are the same +10-20% damage, shoutheal slightly better, condi sword moderately better.
healing signet was “nerfed” by trading 10 heal/sec for resistance on use. (their tooltip said 362/s, and its 372/s now)
i think that waypoint was one of the few that were destroyed when the elder dragon mordremoth awoke. several places were attacked and some waypoints were destroyed and arent usable (the floating waypoint thingy isnt in the air/no beam of light).
other waypoints that were destroyed are the fort marriner waypoint in lions arch and the thistlereed waypoint in… timberline? theres also a couple others.
who knows if the asura will ever get around to rebuilding them
sword mainhand damage isnt that bad, plus you can bring reflects and time warp.
they might add them back in the expansion as “new content”.
the Gold and Silver terragriffs run in a circle around the area. when you destroy a bubble there, it releases a poison cloud and if they move into it, they will get stunned and stop running. thats when you can sit there and damage them easily.
some people might ask you not to pop the bubbles because they know what they are doing and they are doing it themselves. if you pop them too early the poison cloud will go away before the champs run into it.
i would pay 5000 of my shiniest gems for this without a second thought.

your elementalist gets 20 different skills underwater. i think thats more than half the classes get.

same reason warriors can use rifles but not pistols
they could just make the character do a /cheer or something
buy the gift of metal recipe from miyani and craft it at a weaponsmithing station.
there is an asura gate to southsun near the fractal gate, between the fractal portal and claw island portage waypoint

did they reduce her life or something? i tried 40 times yesterday and couldnt beat her. then today i try and in less than 5 tries i beat her twice. somehow i seemed to do more damage than i was doing all yesterday.
its possible i just got better or i did better because i was less frustrated after sleeping, but it still seems like shes dying faster than before.
beat her with warrior, x/warhorn and longbow, mostly kited with bow and using warhorn to remove cripple and get endurance regen, and then when she was 5-10% i tanked her melee attacks and killed her with melee.
i dont think they need to nerf her or anything, its hard but possible. but im a fan of achievements that arent just handed out like most others, and actually take some effort to get other than walking to a location or being able to just take a portal.

100 coins (copper) = 1 silver

Berserker’s Stance: Increased the recharge to 60 seconds. Reduced the duration to 4 seconds. This stance now reduces incoming condition duration by 100%, so only modified conditions can get through.
it states “incoming conditions” which would imply conditions that are applied while in the stance. seems to be intended that way.

mine seems to be working fine. i was regenerating health with Mending and Healing Signet both on and off cooldown.
i actually logged on right after reading this because i dont think i could ever give it up. sorry to hear its not working for you. have you tried resetting your traits and getting it again? maybe it just messed up for some odd reason.
and to be clear, the trait doesnt add constant regeneration (like out of combat regen) and it isnt every second like healing signet. it should be healing every 3 seconds for about 360 health with full adrenaline.

I linked the skin in map chat and other players said it was not right for them either, so im guessing its not on my end.
The “blinking” animation on my Sclerite rifle looks really messed up now. when i first bought it, the eye closed just fine. i think it changed on the may 28th update but im not completely sure.
Instead of the eye closing and opening the model just kinda stretches at certain spots. i previewed other sclerite weapons and they seem to work fine. unequipping, previewing, and previewing it from the merchant does not fix it.
