Why not max 1 class per party comp in spvp?

pvp players don’t have access to gold farming:

-Max income per day is 5g
-Income per win, 30s
-Income per loss, 15s

It’s going to take too much time ( and f2p players could drop the game meanwhile ).

I would prefer at last a F2P specific “track”, which allow the player to unlock the elite class as last reward ( 9 tracks to unlock all specializzation ). Still a bit of farm, but not slow as “making gold into spvp”.

@jacob: Even f2p account can reach both diamond and legend ( and meanwhile, bring down other players ).

Its safe till ruby, and its not impossible to reach both diamond and legend if some1 play time by time.

Ye thats something Id suggest as well, for gem prices I was thinking something around 900 gems per profession. Which with that 5g income a day is just ~30 days. Not counting all the materials you get from caches that can be sold on TP as well, which could cut it to I think about 25 days. Thats not that much for something others have to pay money for.

So 8100 gems is fair to unlock elite specs for PvP only?

Well you could either buy 3 specializations and still pay lower than the HoT cost, or go to store and buy the HoT. I dont see any problem with it.

so what? are you whining about 30$ for 3 years of playing?
or seriousply you prefer to meet players with underpower builds just because yes?

i think you didn’t play spvp that much, or you should know what i am talking about.

GW2 is f2p now, and the main problem is SPVP ( wvw has always been zerg v zerg, and pve is possible for every single chara, every setup team ( 5men instances ) and every setup raid ( 10men instance ).

Or at least, you can chose to bring with you only players with a specific build or equipment ( you can chose who with play ).

SPVP is pretty different, cause put in the same league:

-Soloq
-Premades ( from 2q to 5q )
-Noobs ( rank 20 needed to access. Rank mean nothing, but rank 20 players are braindead op build user which randomly spam cd, and don’t know a thing about skills, combo fields, finishers, mechanics, enemy classes ).
-F2P players: as above ( cause gw2 started its F2P not long ago ) but with underpowered builds.

You prefer to meet players with non meta builds into ranked arena ( because they have to buy the game, just for play THIS spvp, lawl ) than giving everybody the same characters, making the game fair for both em, the players, and you, the player who is going to find em in your or enemy team.

GG, This makes soo much sense im dying.

Did u read my whole post?
The thing is that u dont meet these ppl in higher division games. So ye I really dont care about these ppl.

In GW1 we had to play considerable amount of time to even unlock skills (not classes) in PvP. My suggestion from above is something similar. Every f2p player could be able to unlock the specialisation for PvP (even by playing pvp only) for gems (bought for either gold or money), or some other pvp currency.

i would prefer to add elites for f2p accounts too ( talking about spvp ).

The game tends to be unbalanced with only elite classes… really, i see non sense into trying to balance for meta also non elite classes. Or at least, remove the elite concept and try to work on a build for the class to be the only one viable for spvp.

Why should they be free? By the time you go to play ranked, your PvP level is at least level 20. The free ride is over, pony up the cash or play the core classes.

So you prefer to whine about balance ( or that in your team there are players with underpowered builds ) and “pretend” to have an advantage over other players just cause you paid?

You are the opposite of a pvp player dude.

Seriously, get out of this forum.

But hes right, why should they get it for free? See my earlier post for this.
The f2p players are low rated anyway so they play in low divisions where build doesnt really matter, its just a skirmish.
If u meet core classes in higher divisions, they are mostly played by good players and thus it rly doesnt matter if they play the core or the spec build, coz they manage to outperform the lack of the core class by the knowlege of the game and skillfull play.

The heck???? The f2p ppl should just go and buy the game if they like it. I dont get any post which has some QQ about what f2p players cant get in the game. We all who have played before HoT had to buy the game and then the HoT as well. F2p players get the core game for free. Why should they get anything else for free.

What Id suggest about this is: Add the posibility to open the specializations in sPvP for gems (just in sPvP, not PvE nor WvW).

This is not true. It should be:
Theirs: 4+4+4+4+5=21

Yup, acording to latest changes this is true. But it also is only 50% of the computed team performance.
The rest 50% of the performance takes MMR into consideration.
The div2 player could have rly low MMR, thus lowering the overal rating of the team -> resulting in whats on the screenshot

WRONG !

I play blade and soul which dosen’t treat their customers like betatesters.

Edit
Actually they do because thats because game is BETA.
Atleast they listen to feedback which arenanet dosen’t !

Actually ANet listens to the feedback, just go check other threads. Ppl crying about how mesmer is strong, while they havent even played it (obviously).

All this crying is connected with the bad state of mesmer from before when u barely seen any mesmer in pvp. Ppl get so scared that they have to face something new they havent met in pvp for the past 3 years.
The new “viable” mesmer is the same as the new Revenant. Ppl crying about it, coz they have to adapt to something new they havent faced before.
So what ANet does with it? Well make it trash. But as somebody said, maybe we dont see the whole thing. The deletion of defensive stats amulets from sPvP boosts shatter mesmer a lot. So maybe the theorycrafting comunity should take it in consideration as well.
Ppl tend to compare Mesmer with Thief ->
In my opinion: If the defensive amulets will be enough to let mesmer burst ppl effectively, then Thiefs high damage would be considered overkill and thus Mesmer would be better for its better map presence.

Shiro + Glint when without chronomancer

Mallyx + Glint with chronomancer where boonstrip is needed (dmg slightly lower than Jalis)

Or u can go Shiro+Jalis/Mallyx if your party dont need the boon support from u.
Facet of Nature helps chronomancer and other buffers a lot tho.

You can use staff in raids for the very first second of the fight, summon i warlock and then swap the staff for a sword offhand So you have a minor bost when you start ^^ Requires some quick hands tough

I wouldn’t be astonished when you see staff as a real weapon in raids soon. It has high damage potential. You can swap to staff and summon a phantasm, signet, phantasm, chaos storm, use F5, cast all wells, swap to shield cast shield 5 and end CS and continue your rotation without having attacked once with the staffs poor aa, still having the best dps phantasm in the game (single target).

Hmm this seems to be worth trying, I was on Sabetha for the 1st time yesterday and I wondered which weapon to use as an offset to the sw/sh. On 1st try I took sw/sw but then realized that u have to cleave at some point in that fight, thus swapping to focus made sense. But the single target dps of iWarlock (if it could be much better than sword offhand in raid circumstances) would make it for loosing the cleave iWarden provides.

But I think that raid is not able to provide enough conditions to make the iWarlock worth it. In open world it another story coz there are dozens of ppl applying random conditions, boosting those iWarlocks up.

How does "Facet of Nature" work?

Jacob.4280

Every revenant that plays with chronomancer in his party should upkeep that and never turn it off. If he does not, he really should think about himself or go play another class.

Im really bored of revenants using shiro stance while playing with me, thinking that the healing daggers are so great damage boost, while the quickness from shiro is absolutely useless (chrono can keep it indefinetly on you, if u keep the facet on).
The main thing that Shiro brings is that personal quickness, which is not needed with chrono.

So if ur playing in party with chrono, switch shiro to either jalis (more damage with hammers + stability) or mallyx (slightly less damage than jalis with hammers but has access to boonstrip, which is needed sometimes).

Could you be more precise in what kind of utility and trait a chronomancer would use as it not evident how chrono trait interact with Revenants facets. There is also the question about runes which for my part can provide damage when I use healing (burn) and with trait, protection on Rev, so even with “weak” healing from Shiro, there is some possibility to add more into this mix then just talk about how weak/strong seem to be. I don’t defend Shiros heal as I feel it is UP in some situation and you lack condi cleans from healing if you go Glint+Shiro.

Going back to my Chrono from been playing Rev I would say that I feel it is a bit easier to keep CD in control then with how Rev force you to keep up with energy cost and CD+delay in channeling. I am used to swap a lot from Mesmer and Ele, but with Rev you either need to stay in a legend long enough to build up energy or burst through with swaps (50).

Facets is not my thing as that skill seem to eat up my energy when I need to keep swiftness active and be prepared with might/fury. It is only during a fight I trigger fast Consume to apply boons that will help out a nearby allies, but then there is the problem of range of Facets that most allies will be to far away to get any use of this. Better to help out with passive healing from Glint instead which have a good range in my opinion.

What weapons and sigils do need on both professions to use according to your suggestion here? The only long range weapon for rev are hammer as far as I know and for Chrono there is Staff and Great sword. Both can use shield with their Herald and Chrono trait which provide useful tools to get more sustain (chrono will either block/get slow+illusion or stun+Alacrity).

I believe Shiro’s heal is best fitted with how sword work and not so good in any other weapon combination as you have very high mobility with Shiro Legends+swords (MH+OH or axe) and can avoid some damage (when you can’t use extra heal from damage).

Reding what u wrote here I think that your original question was pvp oriented, but I responded with pve circumstances.
According to sPvP I use the Facet of nature mostly for the free burst of boons.

Dont take me wrong on shiros heals, its strong. But in pve combined with chrono providing the quickness, other legends provide more damage that the shiros heal.
In pve u need to provide the facet of nature to your chrono nonstop so all boons coming from him to everybody else last longer (the quickness primarilly, but other too if using Signet of Inspiration).

Im using boonduration food and chronomancer runes.
As long as Im able to keep perma quickness and alacrity on 5 man party without using SoI everybody is ok with that.
The SoI finds its use in raids, where I use it mostly to spread quickness on more ppl than just the 5 Im in party with. Using positioning to manage that.

go sw/focus for utility:
- perma swiftness combined with Signet of Inspiration passive
- curtain pull for crowd controll and easier cleaving
- aoe phantasm – awesome for any kind of pve, it also uses combo fields and does more damage with those

Since u dont have the expansion, the focus is the best option. The vanilla mesmer is the slowest class without perma swiftness (u have to use the focus and SoI sacrificing utility slot)

For open world the boon duration is not needed, for 5 man party the boon duration is not needed (u can keep perma quickness without it on 5 ppl) as well.
Id suggest to swap to zerk for open world and 5 man content.
For 5 man content the SoI is not needed, Id suggest to swap for Well of Calamity or other utility like Feedback/Null Field, Portal when needed. Swap off hand sword for focus while clearing trash. Focus is also better on most fractal bosses due to reflects from inspiration (combined with fire fields it does high amount of damage via burning as well).
For open world Id suggest to swap SoI for Blink.

For raids the boon duration from commanders is needed if you are the tank or your tank can manage the toughness.
Id sugges to swap Illusionary Inspiration for Mental Defense in Inspiration for raid, the retaliation combined with the dmg it soaks does prety respectable damage in combination with providing more survivability to your raid party. Also it has awesome synergy with traits like Persistence of Memory and Chronophantasma.

Chronomancer runes are the best ones for all the game modes (except pvp) in my opinion.

Primarilly focus on keeping perma alacrity on your allies in all game modes – easily managable in 5 man content, really hard in raids.

Id also sugges to use Persistence of Memory instead Compounding Powder in Illusions, it has much better synergy with Chronophantasma and the build overall.

The build is ok, I personally am running it as well with the changes I mentioned.
I swap inspiration for domination for lower fractals where I dont use focus.

You would never want to switch legends while still above 50 energy; always burn your energy off before switching, regardless of the legend.

That isn’t true. Proccing Equilibrium is worth more DPS when you go Glint -> xxxx than creating some useless might or regen stacks your party is capped on already anyway. The only time it’s worth ignoring Equilibrium in Glint is when you have a higher DPS play available, like using Sword #2 inside a boss hitbox when there are adds around for a huge damage attack.

Thats why Im asking how it works (how to manage it) and if its dmg boost for the party or not considering the boon uptimes. Still dont know any of those 2 things :P

Can somebody please explain me the Shiro/Glint (Equilibrium) rotation?
I dont get the thing with 50% energy, how am I supposed to manage that for dmg boost? Or is it there for the healing instead, for more party support?

The basic idea of Rev rotation is that you should be swapping legends as soon as legend swap comes off cooldown, in order to take advantage of the 50% energy you get given when you swap; so you want to use energy at such a rate that you hit zero at the same time as legend swap becomes available.

The basic Shiro/Glint rotation is something like this:

- Start in Glint
- Activate facet of nature, darkness, elements, strength (and light if desired)
- Use your hardest hitting or most situation relevant weapon abilities to burn off extra energy (I normally go with Sword 3 for might stack, then Axe 5, then elemental blast right at the end; opinions vary)
- When you have hit zero energy and facet of nature has deactivated, switch to Shiro (it’s important to hit zero energy and let facet of nature deactivate itself or you won’t be able to use Impossible Odds without first using One With Nature, which means you lose facet of nature for your next rotation)
- Use Impossible Odds and Enchanted Daggers
- Auto attack until legend swap is off cooldown
- Back to start

The idea of running down your energy at the same rate as legend swap is applicable to any Rev loadout really; just replace the Shiro bit with an efficient use of your energy in whatever legend you’re using instead. Pretty much any Rev build is going to include Glint (in PvE at least).

I understand the usage of run out energy rotations with shiro (only needed). You dont need to run out of energy on jalis and malyx.
What I dont understand is this described rotation:
Glint + Shiro (Equilibrium) – Activate all facets except elite -> Elemental Blast -> Assassin Stance -> Enchanted Daggers -> Impossible Odds -> Sword Auto -> Dragon Stance -> Activate facets of choosing and use Unrelenting Assault or Precision Strike if it you will stay above 50 at the end -> Elemental Blast -> Sword Auto -> Assassin Stance -> Impossible Odds -> Sword Auto -> repeat Glint and Shiro off cooldown
How am I supposed to be above 50 energy at the end and at the same time dont loose dps?

I maybe get it now, the thing is that u dont use the facet of nature in this one.
If so, is that profitable for the party (and yourself)? Dont you loose boon uptime and stacks using this and thus also the party/self dps?

I like the OP.
The things Angel de Lyssa writes are not bad, but are more a boost than a ballance, thus I dont like them that much as the OP, which is more of a ballance to unused things than a boost to already good ones.

1 thing I dont like in the OP is the Mimic change in utility section:
Mimic: I would reduce the CD of this skill from 90s to 75s. Why? not only would make it match CS cooldown when using Illusions specline but it would still be the hightest CD utility (except Illusion of Life but who uses it?) making it no harm with it virtually lowering a higher CD utility and the usual drama. Sure you can double cast another utility, but you still need 2 from 3 utility slots to do it..

This is not needed coz the CD of Mimic can already be lowered to the continuum split level via chaos traitline. This suggested change would in combination with chaos break and bring the Mimic mechanics up too high.

With that, u can spam iBerserkers with ~1s cooldown (after shattering 2 phantasms)
+ constant F1 and F2 shattering – more aoe dmg

For FotM I use this coz the focus is too good to not be taken, the utility it brings and the dmg is awesome (maybe better than iSwordsman) if your group has some fire fields (or other dmg fields) on the ground:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vhAQNAs+dncfC9fitfCmfCUrhlljq+Qj0J9sBCgIDdyOhLD-TxBBQB5RPAWU+dGlgAc/hKp+DAOJAB4BAQEgyWA-e

While exploring all u need is a mobility which mesmer have. I wouldnt say that u have to sacrifice off hand. On vanilla mesmer the focus offhand is the best one in open world. Sacrificing 1 utility for perma swiftness … thats ok I think (ie necro has to sacrifice utility for only 25% speed signet)… perma swiftness for 1 utility and u still can use blink and portal with those. And the blink can help u skip large chunks of maps that u would normally have to run around. All u need to kill while exploring are HPs. And that can always be managed with greatsword.
Jumping puzzles are also much easier with portals.

To the streamers. Im prety sure that Xerrex is streaming most of classes using vanilla builds and was on 5th place on legend leaderboards (yesterday) even while using these u say useless vanilla classes. Not saying that chrono is not better Im just saying that vanilla mesmer is ok in spvp when played properly. Chrono is useless as well as vanilla mesmer if its not played properly. Quadruple Feedback and why its not needed

in Mesmer

Posted by: Jacob.4280

Jacob.4280

All things I write in this post are from another topic (How to triple blink).
I just feel that ppl, that are not interested in blinking but would be interested in reflecting using feedback would find this interesting, and would never find it in the another thread.

As many of u know, quadruple feedback is managable with the CS and Mimic combo.

For those who dont know that, Ill quote myself from another topic.
"
3 illusions -> start rotation with precast something + CS -> Mimic -> Feedback -> … -> Feedback -> end CS -> Mimic -> Feedback -> … -> Feedback
can do without illusions if ur feedbacking more targets, so u dont overlap them (thus not wasting them)
"

And why its not usefull in these days? Another quote of myself:
"
With 3 illusions ur not overlaping 1 target much.
3 illusion CS is 6sec window.
So if u precast mimic (since it is the longest casting spell which will be in your rotation) u can use 1st feedback while casting kitten the begining of the CS.
Feedback is 6s, so u can use 2nd feedback before CS ends ending up with about 3/4 sec overlap.
After CS another mimic and 2x feedback, after feedback gets off cd u should have enough time to recharge it so u can cast it again without mimic -> resulting in 5x feedback -> about 29sec feedback uptime in 1 rotation.

I dont see much usage of this in PvE anyway.
Considering dmg mitigation on higher fractals.
Bloomhunger gets like no dmg from feedback and your party would benefit more from some other dmg boost like calamity well for more alacrity or signet of inspiration for more quickness. And reflects can be managed by iWardens and curtain placed on him in the right time.
U can also use iWardens to reflect on purpose since u can shatter them and then u know that they start reflecting in about 1,75sec after.

On Mossman its the same, use curtain when he gets out of stealth if u dont have iWarden summoned on him and ready to start spinning.

In Urban Battleground u need to reflect just when he starts spining his greatsword and that can be reflectat with curtain or iWarden easily as well.

Uncategorized fractal harpies, curtains and iWardens does the job, u can swap feedback to your utilities during the jumping, but no need for mimic there.

Volcanic fractal … 3xiWarden and ocasional curtain when u think the iWardens wont make it in time (basicly after u shatter them and dont have time to resummon some, so they all start spining at the same time). 3x iWardens here are a benefit tho coz in the larva phase u can pull larvas in the middle of your wpining iWardens using curtains Into the Void pull.

Cliffside, similar to Volcanic.

Molten Furnace, ocasional reflects needed on trash, managable with curtain pull and iWarden on top.
Underground facility, same as molten funace just more often.

Aetherblade the same.

Thaumanova reactor the same, more reflection on the ooze can be managed through multiple iWardens.

Mai Trin, can be managed with iWarden and curtain since u need the reflects just to keep her on a place. That can be managed with other mitigations like evade, block, invuln or aegis.

Molten Boss, Im not sure if feedback works here, coz I dont use it in this particular encounter. I put ocasional curtain over my teammates and iWardens over the berserker to mitigate at least some of the fire balls.

Hope this helps u deciding on why and where to use feedback, most likely that u can master your weapon skills and use some more usefull utility for your team.

Thats from my point of view, feel free to ask and critique.

Runs of the Chronomancer Vs Leadership

If u want to go the path of Leadership runes u can also use 4xTraveler + 2xWater resulting in 25% boon duration and some stats. Thus learning the playstile on the progress.

I personally swapped to chronomancer tho.
In fractals/raids it offers more offensive stats.
In raids it also offers more chances to spread quickness on more random ppl coz the rotations adds SoI.
Leadership runes rotation contains TW, 3xWoA, 4xToT
Chronomancer runes rotation adds 3xSoI on top of that.

Isn't MMR supposed to bring us near 50% w/l?

So ur basicly saying, that ur joining the match with no interest in winning it. Why would u join in any match then?
Everybody in every match should do their best to win the match. Thus " to try a bit less" has no point in PvP environment.

3 illusions -> start rotation with precast something + CS -> Mimic -> Feedback -> … -> Feedback -> end CS -> Mimic -> Feedback -> … -> Feedback

can do without illusions if ur feedbacking more targets, so u dont overlap them (thus not wasting them)
