Ergo conditions have an unfair advantage in wvw, especially in tier 1 or wherever there are ridiculous map blobs.

Arenanet it is time for you to pay attention to wvw and fix these glaring issues.

Bad news: every matchup has servers running map blobs, all the way down to T4, because it’s an insta-win tactic due to poor game design decisions. At this point, you either blob up too, or you lose over and over until you quit the game. There won’t be anyone left by the time they lift a finger to fix it.

The decay change is a problem when you’re severely outnumbered and/or facing an enemy that’s PPTing as hard as they can, camping a border full of T3 objectives. We don’t get participation for being run over by the map blob.

When you can’t cap anything or get any kills because of how bad the matchup is, there’s really no need to kick us while we’re down by taking away what little reward is left, Anet.

They’ll never show us the numbers. The last thing they want is the community having hard facts about how poorly managed the game mode is.

The WvW guild I’ve been playing with for two years is circling the drain. Most of our core members have quit the game completely, and the handful that still show up aren’t having any fun. We’re not on one of the bandwagon servers, so we’re just doomed to get run over, over and over, until we’ve all quit. GG, Anet.

Excluding BG, everyone wins some and everyone loses some.

A lot of the lower tier server groups have been consistently losing (and in complete blowouts) for months due to absurd matchmaking (e.g. this week’s CD vs FA and Mag), and are losing a lot of players because of it. People can only get blobbed over just so many times before they realize they could actually be having fun in a different game.

Reasonable matchups. These days we’re almost guaranteed a ridiculous blowout each week, but Anet just closes the thread when people call them on it.

I’d rather have the same relatively even matchup for months on end than risk being effectively locked out of the game mode by spawn-camping blob servers every other week.

Anet loves condis for some reason. Every “balance” patch lately is effectively “buffed condi, nerfed power”. I don’t think they actually playtest this stuff at all, and certainly not in WvW—if they had, they’d have seen how little fun this “meta” is.

It’s out of control even in PvE. Just tried it out, and I can out-DPS my power-based main, which I’ve been playing for two years, with several condi classes/builds despite never having used them before and not even knowing their rotations—by 30-40%. WTF, Anet.

Server linking has mostly killed all the decent communities. All that’s left is toxic bandwagon servers, and they’re not really a community at all. We’ve tried again and again to rebuild, only to have a bad link or a few weeks of ridiculous blowout matchups tear it all down each time.

There’s nothing the players can do about this. It’s all on Anet, but apparently locking threads is all the effort they’re willing to muster. A little PR could go a long way here, because the way things look right now, they’re intentionally driving players away.

With the new map, Anet will not make the same mistake, there will be the Alpine, the Desert and the New Map at the same time.

Anet has learned from the DBL.

Given the matchups lately, it’s looking like what they’ve “learned” is that they hate the game mode and just want the players to suffer. They’re either trying to kill off all interest in the game mode, or so negligent that they may as well be.

Given the broken as **** matchups, it really is. Honestly, they could just assign the “buff” once, as soon as the week’s matchup is decided, and save some CPU cycles.

CD, for instance, has gotten precisely one week of a relatively even matchup in the last few months—the rest of the time we get one server that so vastly outnumbers the other two that there’s no point even playing.

The fact that threads on the subject aren’t “permitted” makes it pretty clear that Anet has no intention of doing anything about it. They’re not going to fix it, so they don’t want anyone talking about it.

Remove AC and trebs and Mag will own the entirety of EBG within 10 mins… also seriously EBG is the most played map on any server, you want to mess with that?

I think they should replace EBG with another Desert BL for a while. I’d expect someone from Mag to appreciate the amount of salt that would generate.

Yes, that’s exactly how match-making works. There’s some randomization put into the ordering of servers by glicko rating to prevent the matches from becoming too static. FA appears to have gotten the “negative roll” while DB got a “positive roll”.

Two weeks in a row? What are the odds of that? Regardless, the population difference is extreme—their matchmaking system needs to be smart enough to keep such one-sided matchups from happening. It’s costing them players.

World linking has done nothing to help population balance. It’s worse than ever. Look at NA T4—WTF is FA doing in there? And for the second week in a row? People on the other servers are quitting left and right because they just have no ****ing chance against those numbers.

So…ever planning on fixing this? Last night I got hit by 5 cor’s instantly while standing behind a gate trying to rez someone….

I hope they never “fix” this. It’s one of the few counters for door catas and similar siege-troll tactics.

That is one of the worst reasons ever for not fixing a bug. I was not even on siege, or against the gate, I was standing about 900 range behind the gate.

Not saying you were. When one bug is the only way to counter another bug, you can’t really fix one unless you fix both. Siege behind gates shouldn’t be able to, e.g., knock people off rams—at least not without damaging their own gate—but it does; as long as it does, I’m perfectly fine with attacks hitting through gates in the opposite direction.

To be honest, I suspect that the reason they haven’t fixed either is because of some technical limitation that they feel would be more costly to work through than it’s worth.

I don’t know what some people in this thread are talking about. Mag got a link because they needed one. They are relying on their link to provide some of the population. BG is still beating them, and MagET and FASoR are about even.

All tiers are pretty even now, much moreso than in the past before linkings. I would even bet that all servers are close enough to fight each other with the exception of
BG, they’re still super stacked. SBIGoM fought TC and JQ last week and did well. I’d be we could make any combo of matches and it wouldn’t be a complete blowout like it used to be if a low tier faced a higher tier.

Linkings are working! (At least for NA) I’m ready for BG, bring ’em on!

Mag made it pretty clear last night that they consider ET a waste of space. With the way their community is, a link will hurt them more than it will help—any server they’re paired with is more likely to turn on them than help them.

WTF? Maguma has a link? They’ve placed first and have been in T1 for weeks. kitten . TC placed 4th and JQ is 5th. Whoever was in charge of this has their head really far up their kitten . No one voted for kitten not have links, but it was done. Now, you’re not even de-linking the top 3 servers. Dunno if I can continue with this crap.

I’m gonna go with that other guy’s theory—ET is being punished for some reason. One reset with Mag and I’m left wondering what on earth we could have done to deserve it.

-Remove the ability to repair fortified gates and walls—once they’re down, they’re down.
-Add cooldowns to prevent continuously disabling siege.
-Mandate that all Anet employees responsible for gameplay design decisions play WvW for at least three hours, one night per week, so they can experience how little fun it is to bang on fortified objectives defended by siege-spamming cowards, and hopefully make better decisions in the future.

I guess I give you a scenario. You’re a roamer, you see 5000 JQ coming to bay and your home BL is dead and you know the ktrain is in EB. You can buy your server those precious few moments to disable, whisper the EB commander for help and give your server time to respond.

My question is why remove the siege disablers?

So we get a decent fight in the lord room instead of the blob showing up before we can even get a wall down, running straight in, instantly repairing the gate/wall, and then hitting the siege cap with AC’s.

Things are severely skewed in favor of defense right now, and it just isn’t any fun.

There should at least be a cooldown involved so the same siege can’t be repeatedly disabled. I’d go so far as to say that gates and walls shouldn’t even be repairable, or at the very least, a repaired fortified wall should come back as paper, or some flimsy barricade. Anything to punish the practice of defending a map (or in the given example, multiple maps) with a single blob. They just shouldn’t be able to both play that way and respond in time—they should have to choose one or the other.

Ever spent an evening banging your head against fortified objectives, with the entire enemy server just hiding behind their walls spamming siege? It isn’t fun. It’s migraine inducing. It already happens too frequently, because you’ve already made it too easy.

Repair hammers were a bad idea, but this is just flat-out insane.

Yeah or just go farm it. Or don’t farm it and still get piles of it just playing/salvaging everything. Trying to “balance” the trading post is lol worthy.

Have you even tried farming it? It’s not effective at all. It’s painfully rare from salvage, regardless of the salvage kit. Loot bags aren’t much better.

I don’t need leather at the moment for anything I’m doing / making.

These threads always come about when some guy says “I need this. I need it now. It’s hard to get. And pricey on the TP. I feel I must make a post”

The way so many of you jump to these conclusions is pretty childish. Honestly, I didn’t even need leather, and I have more than enough gold to buy it when I do. I just noticed that the T6 stuff is wildly more expensive than the other T6 mats, which suggests a serious disparity between supply and demand.

Telling people to farm gold and buy it does nothing to solve this—it doesn’t add to the supply or reduce the demand. That’s the point I was trying to make: it’s imbalanced, and something needs to change to restore that balance.

I’d suggest just increasing the drop rates a bit, or reducing the leather required by the gossamer patch recipe. Both trivially easy to implement. Both would help stabilize the market.

Banging on a fortified keep is one of the least fun activities in this game mode—they’re effortless to defend. The attacker can go for hours with no progress, while a handful of defenders spam siege at them until their map queue blob shows up to insta-repair the gate/walls and build even more siege. It’s literally headache inducing.

I’d prefer we take this the opposite way: not only can siege NOT be repaired, the gates and walls can’t either. One blob wouldn’t be able to defend every objective indefinitely—the walls would eventually get low enough that a group could take something before they could respond, so they’d have to split up to defend.

Hey, if golem rush and “no swords on contested objectives” were worth trying out, this is worth trying out for a week, too.

I’ve not had my reward for Obsidian Sanctum missions since forever… others are a bit hit and miss.

Pretty much everyone in my guild hates JPs, so one time I did OS alone and ported the rest of the guild up there. I was the only one that didn’t get the reward chest. Not sure if bug or a clever dev’s revenge.

This still happens to my guildmates as well, though not as frequently any more. We often have <15 people online for missions and kind of expect to each have to run the race more than once anyway, and for the few of us who don’t get a chest the first time, the second time through seems to take care of it. Bugs like this are still frustrating, though.

What really annoys me is the missing chests at the end of the races. Was a little extra (and almost always worthless) loot really going to break the game, Anet? Enough so that you had to remove the cheese at the end of the Proxemics lab’s rat maze? Come on.

This bug’s been around since I started playing 1.5 years ago, but it seems to be getting more frequent. Had it happen in the middle of a pvp match the other day, and then again in a zerg fight. It’s pretty bad.

I have to assume that it’s still happening because the code responsible is a nightmarish house of cards that no one wants to even look at, let alone try to fix.

I strongly agree with this. Give me a tiny, home-instance (or less) sized guild hall that I can claim with a party of 2-5, containing even just a limited subset of the full hall’s upgrades (bank, scribing, maybe a tavern), and I’ll be very happy.

…Yes, I mostly just want to be able to finish expanding my personal guild’s bank. I only got two tabs before HoT, and they’re full.

Since the crafting recipe changes in HoT, the prices of leather, particularly the T6 variety, have gone from much too low to absurdly high.

At the time of this posting, cured hardened leather squares are currently selling at roughly 70 silver each. Compared to the other materials in its tier, this is 2x the price of ancient wood logs (~30s), 7x the price of orichalcum ingots (~10s), and 35x the price of gossamer bolts (~2s).

I think it’s about time something was done to get this under control. Add a way to farm it, increase drop rates, adjust the recipes, anything to bring it back in line.

5 minutes? The T1 queues are literally hours at prime time. Some of us have jobs and can’t spend what precious little free time we have waiting in line. Before the linking, we didn’t have to, and we still had plenty of fun in T8.

I’d think unlinking a few of the higher population servers would be a better choice—BG, at least, is severely overpopulated during NA prime time. On reset night, every map has a queue as big as (or bigger than) all of ET, and generally 3/4 maps queued every night the rest of the week, so I don’t think they really need us.

The fact that we can’t play when or where we want seems to be gradually killing guilds on the guest servers, too. It’d be nice if someone at Anet would acknowledge this and at least pretend to be sorry.

The guild I’m in is down to just two WvW rally nights a week, at severely reduced numbers, due to a combination of the ridiculous queues and the blob fights that are even blobbier than the ones we’d relatively recently paid to escape. People are getting fed up and quitting the game entirely.

We can’t play when or where we want due to the queues, and we can’t play how we want due to the map-queue omni-blob tactics that every ****ing high tier server is using—we either join the blob ourselves and become mindless bloblings, or get run over by the other hoard of mindless bloblings.

Since it’s looking like the blob servers have blobbed the poll, I can only hope you’ll make significant changes to your implementation of world linking, and soon—the current one is killing the “guest” servers.

The majority should never, ever be allowed to decide what happens to a minority! Do I really need to bring up historical examples of why this is bad?

I know it’s just a silly game, but this is honestly the worst thing that has happened to WvW ever and is totally ruining my enjoyment of the mode, and tier 8 players are quitting in droves because of linking – our guilds are dying. ANet, your solution to “fix” the population is to make people leave and to ruin friendships and communities?! Do better!

Please, please, please, do not even think of keeping your free recruiting for tier 1 and 2 going. Of course they are all going to vote to keep linking; they need blobs to function and you are making them not have to pay for them anymore. Of course they are going to outvote us because they outnumber us lower tier players; they’ve done that from the start!

I can’t even express how disappointed I am with this beta and this result. Being a low tier WvW player and seeing the very real possibility of world linking being a permanent thing, I am distraught and disheartened by the loss of my community. It won’t survive. There is nothing positive about linking for the “subworld” that is linked, and we have no reason to care about WvW or PPT or results or anything anymore. Goodbye, ET. Goodbye, WvW. Hello, EotM, I guess…

This, except for the “hello EotM” part. Things are falling to pieces. We’re losing people left and right. I won’t be looking for another guild if you kill the one I’m in. I’ll be looking for another game.

OP is totally correct. Having queues is the only way to guarantee balanced population.

The perfect situation is to have queues on every map at all times (or at least a queue on the same number of maps that your opponents have). But only a short queue.

The WvW-focused guild I’m in is down to rallying for WvW two nights a week—reset no longer being one of them—because it’s impossible to get the whole guild onto the same map during the timeslots convenient for us. We’re not even a large guild; used to run ~25, but since the world linking we’re lucky to get 10. People are giving up and playing other games—we paid to transfer down to T8 to get AWAY from this ****, and now we’ve been forcibly moved to T1.

Do they expect us to pay to transfer down again? For one, there’s no way in hell I’m giving them a dime until I can actually play the game. Second, they could just change the links and screw us again at any time.

It’s a shame, because I really do believe that this is the best MMO on the market right now—but they seem intent on running the best game mode straight into the ground.

All these people are crying about queues, and not being able to enjoy their low tier game play. However for the majority of us, this patch is a very good thing as wvw is fianlly back in form, all you people on here crying are the minority. Not to mention it is the weekend, and 2 days after patch, so of course there is a larger population in wvw. Also, the bls are still relatively zerg/queue free, so go enjoy your small tier game play there. Thank you to Anet for finally putting in a wvw patch after hot killed it, looking forward to Alpines release!

Are you asking people to not give feedback? About a beta? Of course we’re going to give feedback. Otherwise they’ll think we all LIKE not being able to play when we want, where we want, and how we want.

Queues are a complete dealbreaker for those of us with only a limited timeslot for games; we’re not going to spend what precious little free time we have sitting in line. Until this change, we didn’t have to. Anet needs to hear that, loudly and frequently.

They should dynamically open additional BLs only during population spikes (like reset, or any time queues start building up on every BL).

As people log off and the queues go away, they should then close those extra maps and redirect people back to the four constant ones.

It could just be a random desert or alpine instance, or maybe something smaller designed specifically for this purpose. It should provide some benefit, score or otherwise, while it’s open. It would be better than going to EotM, at least, as you’d still be contributing while waiting in queue.
