Elitism is half the reason I largely stopped playing.
We’re right back to a checklist of killing ten rats, collecting a dozen hides, and taking down the big bad ogre.
Thoughts?
Very much so. The difference is that with quests I used to be able to pick and chose which ones I wanted in my log. Not so with boring, grindy achievements. They are pushed into your face every time you look at the character selection screen.
Well, GW2 had already gone back on it’s “no grinding” promise since day 1. So, hey, why not just go back on everything else? Right?
Deadeye and the pavillion aren’t gone. Finish the LS progression and beat Scarlet to gain access back into the pavillion.
You need to get three random drops to get access to the playhouse.
…..
Which requires grinding for several hours.

How is Anet not supporting farming?
She’s a anime villain.
Note that despite being uber genious and perfect, she made a huge mistake in forgetting Jehnna is a mesmer, and another in giving her enemies a means to attack her.
Let’s not forget she acts like she’s 10.
And she looks like 10.
She’s a Sylvari. She probably IS 10.
Wait, you mean you got in before everyone else got kicked to overflow?
Amazing!
I checked my antivirus, I use the free version of Avast! and tried disabling things until it started working. Still no dice.
I sent the crash log along with the networkdiag from before I uninstalled and tried to reinstall. This is a problem with GW2, as I can update and play other games.
I tried to reinstall and it gave me the SAME ERROR.
I’d like to get word from someone on the support team first, I don’t want to screw around with anything unless I absolutely have to.
It’s because your name has [[censored word]] in it, which can be considered inappropriate.

Had the wrong diagnostic report linked, should be the right one now.
I get to about 10kb of data, then it stops and tells me “Unable to verify the Guild Wars 2 executable. Please try again. If this problem persists, uninstall and reinstall the application, or contact customer support.”
Because it will take several hours to download reinstall, I want to see if CustSupport can help me first.

You should be able to play from China, it’s where half the bots come from.
I dont think it will be 10k points because only very small number of people have that, i have like 6k. It will be around 3k and also its not a currency, you wont spend it you just progress and unlock things on way.
It’ll reinforce the current strategy of “Grind2Win” that the game has though.
Refusing to retrait/swap weapons/use different armour for a dungeon is like saying “I need to get from Los Angeles to London, but I refuse to buy a plane ticket. Why won’t you let me use my horse to get there?”
You were given 5 trait lines and 70 points to spend anywhere you like for a reason. You were given at least half a dozen weapons which you can swap around before going into the fight for a reason. You can swap out your skills anytime before engaging in combat for a reason.
If you are dying over and over again and the team wipes trying to res you, the problem is not the dungeon. The problem is you.
No, no it is not like that.
It’s like wanting to fly from New York the LA, but getting told that you can only use one air line and can only fly coach to get there. It’s an arbitrary and hidden limit that forces players to have a set of armor for every trait combination in order to enjoy the game to it’s fullest.
Maybe these players need to play other characters instead of only playing the one?
For those who do have all 5 character slots filled with level 80 characters, perhaps deleting one or two might be ideal to start a class they haven’t tried?
I know the class options aren’t overly vast and the amount of character slots we get, on a one server only is actually kinda funny… In a bad way, I might add.
It would be nice if they’d give us more character slots or allow us to have multiple servers with different characters on them. Then again the multiple server’s would semi defeat the purpose of the guesting, but what about those who have all 80’s already but their friend just joined the game and is another server? With only 2 guest passes per person it can limit how many time those people can play together..
I’ve got 8 characters, all level 80, one of each profession. Most of them have a full exotic loadout. The others? Not worth the effort, honestly.
The ArenaNet dungeon team seems to think “improve” means “add HP, trash mobs, and more damage” to the dungeons, rather than rebuild the parts that people have issue with. I’ve been playing since the headstart, and have yet to see an improvement. Heck, it was the same way in GW1, with the dungeons only ever getting harder and harder, more impossible.
I still hate it. I hate the low drops, I hate overflow, I hate having to go to the gemstore to gamble to get the skins.
And I am. What is the Dungeon team doing anyways?
they made a new awesome dungeon
molten lava facility
play it its so dawm fun.
The dungeon team did not make Molten Weapons Facility, the Living Story Team did.
either way. I love the dugeon
You missed the point.
I hope the other things you’ve been working on aren’t more “fun” improvements to dungeons and world PvE mobs. So far, you’ve proven the existence of “anti-fun” as a real property and your pursuit of it has been disconcerting! (It’s probably not a good sign to have some fans breath a sigh of relief to learn that the new dungeon was not created by the Dungeon Team…) ;P
What someone defines as fun is often different from what another person calls fun. I’m sorry our dungeon work has not appealed to you and others, but there is an audience for what we do. My hope is that in the future, we can build something that appeals to you and other folks currently not on board with our dungeon content, while still staying true to the people who have enjoyed our content thus far. Bridging that gap is not an easy process, but I am confident that such things are not impossible feats
I suggest hiring someone who has run tabletop games before as an adviser then. An experienced DM will tell you exactly how to “bridge the gap” between those who want the harder and those who want the easier content.
Here’s mine. I’ve been getting pretty bad lag and about half the FPS I usually get.

Nintendo hard only appeals to a niche within a niche. The ping thing is certainly an issue that 8-bit games didn’t have to deal with, so I don’t think normal mode SAB will get Nintendo hard even in the last world because we want as many people as possible to be able to do it. (It’s going to be a tricky balance to not make it too easy in order to accommodate those with bad ping.) But future Worlds will be much much harder than World 1. And hard mode will be there for that niche within a niche who have good ping and want to punish themselves.
raises hand
Wait, why are the dungeons Nintendo Hard? Are you saying that you want only a limited number of people playing dungeons, compared to the rest of the game?
Takes about 10 minutes to run Zone 1, if you skip Queen Bee. Another minute or so if you don’t.
The goal is to provide a unifying storyline to the world that ushers this new content into the game, changes the game, and makes the world feel truly alive.
Oh, this bit is interesting.
Could it be assumed that Flame and Frost (the entire thing) is just a prelude to a bigger thing which we’ll see after it finishes?
Kinda like the weekend Karka event to Southsun Shore, but over a longer period of time.
If it’s anything like the goal of not having to grind for stuff, then we can probably expect more of the same in terms of events. They’ll happen, reset, and loop throughout the day.
I’m not psyched at all. I mean, I honestly can’t say that I’ve taken any notice of the F&F stuff.
Wow so entitled, anet doesnt have to give you any functionality they dont want to, check your priviledge
This, and… DS is designed to be a transformation.
When transformed (and most times, when carrying an item) you cannot do basic actions because you’re busy with what you’re doing.
Infact the dev also said DS is designed to be a transformation to use when on low health to continue fighting or to prevent spikes when fighting – not a tool to “bypass” some fundamental mechanics such as being vulnerable while ressing or buying yourself seconds of cooldown with in-transformation swapping.
DS was never meant to be a normal state you use for every purpose.
Elixer X has the same problem. Tornado form has the same problem. Rampager form has the same problem. Form of Melandru has the same problem. Any Norn Spirit Shape skill has the same problem.
I fail to see how this is a unique thing to necromancers.
Simple: Don’t trust pugs.
Always open the dungeon yourself.
Problem solved.True, but this should still be removed outright. It breaks immersion, it forces the other 4 players to carry someone that is too lazy to level their character, and it’s redundant (if you want easy mode leveling then use crafting).
^
I agree that you shouldn’t trust pugs, morons, or Thieves (they always seem to Backstab you later on… c; ), but it still doesn’t make sense to have this mechanic in the first place.
^ Asuras still suck…c:
^- Must be a Charr player. Darn furries.
Just did AC path 2.
Deetha bugged out, even after we killed everything on our way there.
Fix the bugs before nerfing the dungeon.
Everyone I meet in AC are very bad at this game. It’s not like this game is hard too. I see players that are not even dodging. They’re just standing still auto attacking. Is there anyone out there that is any good still playing?
Off playing a different game, one that doesn’t get a new nerf every month.
There’s a reason Anet’s nickname in GW1 was Nerfnet.
Erm…
Story Mode = Normal Mode
Explorable Mode = Hard ModeYou can earn exotic items in this game without going to explorable mode dungeon.
Dungeon exotics are cosmetic reward for players that would like a challenge and a token of their success. The game failed on providing hard content due to many reasons but mostly class unbalance, poor AI and exploits. Now players think that explorable mode dungeon is a place where new player can easily earn their exotics… Please let the devs do their work and fix explorable dungeons…
If they were cosmetic, they would have exactly the same stats as you could acquire from crafting. But they don’t. So they aren’t.
What is hard for some is easy for others. Making content exclusive to one skillset gives the idea of an elitist section of players and doesn’t make for a very good community.
It’s bad when even the staff can’t stick to the topic.
I think its worse when staff doesn’t say anything at all, but I can see where you are coming from. Figured I’d post it here since there have been a few threads and posts about it throughout the dungeon forum.
My point is, it’d be great if we could have the questions being asked answered rather than watching them being dodged.
There’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to do a dungeon in exploration mode as soon as it becomes available to your level. Except you can’t, because the difficulty has been spiked severely.
It’s like running a game of Dungeons and Dragons. If you have one or two players out of six who are heavily optimized for combat? Then the DM needs to beef up combat to make it so things aren’t a breeze. The same thing has been done with dungeons. A relatively small percentage of the GW2 community finds dungeons easy. So what do the devs do? They spike the difficulty to make it harder for that small percentage of optimizers.
This is neither fun nor engaging for a majority. It’s a grind and becomes tedious. Especially when you need to do the dungeon 6-7 times to get a single item.
Citadel of Flames path 1 still takes about 10-15 minutes. Do it 3 times, take a half hour break, come back and repeat.
For those upset about the changes I made to Food items that life steal on crit, and the spy kit, here’s some words:
Spy Kits: permanent stealth at the cost of karma isn’t good. It’s practically exploitative since it’s a pay-karma-to-win scenario, and it needed to change. We test all of our dungeon content without the use of external items to make sure it is all capable of being completed. This has led though, to a recent surge in players using items from the open world in dungeons to trivialize content or outright break bosses designed to present a specific challenge to a five man group.Food item life steal on crit Cooldown: The best heal in the game can’t be 100 blades or other similar attacks. If you want to play a glass cannon, there should be danger involved, and the food buff mitigated the danger and allowed glass cannons to stand and trade blows without having to utilize their own heals or dodge rolls. They could just stand still and win – and that’s not the type of dynamic combat we want for our game. We test our content without the food buffs to ensure they are capable to players without access to them, and make sure the balance is good enough for players who don’t have those buffs. There are a lot of other viable food buffs in the game, and this one food buff meant a core few items were dominating all the others.
For those also thinking I went rogue and did this, I went through all the checks and balances, and discussed the changes with leads. While I do have the power to change dungeons, things that affect the world outside of dungeons is handled through meetings to make sure everyone is on board with a proposed solution.
Hey pal, this is a dungeon discussion. How about responding to any of these posts that discuss the dungeon? I understand that you are getting ragged on hard because you took a good dungeon and made it bad, but you’re the one that started this thread.
It’s bad when even the staff can’t stick to the topic.
Infusion slots can be used for things other than agony resistance.
Just bear with it guys. I’m sure the next patch will make things just as unbearable to the point that you want to claw at the staff.
I am interested in joining, though I have no interest in ever getting a voice chat program.
Send me an invite if you’re still recruiting. I do a lot of WvW but also do dungeons and other pvx.
There is a player cap for guild. So if you are not representing, it could be used by another who is representing so there is more active guildchat and influence gain.
If you play like 10 hours a day and represent them for 5 hours each, I’m sure they dont’ mind. Else that spot is better given to someone else.
No there isn’t? I’m in a Guild with over 400 members, and our roster just keeps growing.
Tried doing combo kills with people, setting up poison fields, nothing.
The puppy daily is bugged like a bear.
Anyone who already did monthly for January is puppied up the birdy with an elephant.
WvW, for me, isn’t worth the effort that is put in. Why spend an hour doing WvW for maybe 2 badges (if I’m lucky) when I can do a dungeon run for a gold or more?
Boss bodies are vanishing way too fast in CM at least, I look away for 5 seconds and they are gone.
Don’t use staff, use the scepter. Take Tome of Wrath and spam blasts.
I keep disconnecting too. Cost me 60 tokens.
I’m done playing until this kitten is fixed. I’ll go play SC2, at least that’s not going to dc.
If you want to cater to the WoW baby RNG players, do it with skins, not with top end gear..
Yeah, let’s bring back the good ol’ fashion 1e DnD version of things.
Are you kidding? I spent 10 ecto on a pair of exotic pistols and easily made that back by craft>salvaging rares. The drop rate is the same as ever.
Ah, the tears of angry gamers. Now excuse me while I play this violin as Lion’s Arch burns in the background.
Folks, honestly, worrying too much over all this isn’t going to do anyone any good. It isn’t as if this is going to affect our real life jobs (if you’re lucky enough to have one). So sit back, shut up, and relax.
Please ban people from entering dungeons who don’t have a full set of exotic armor and weapons. Not having exotics is entirely selfish and drags the whole team down.
Also signed, but doubtful anything will actually happen.
