Jumping mechanics stink

Doing jumping puzzles on a char or nord feels almost impossible.

My mesmer is a rather bulky, near max-sized charr. I like her, but when it comes to jumping puzzles I sometimes curse her too. :p

Camera issues and related motion sickness are definitely so much worse on big characters.

All i have to say to that is https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Endless_Miniature_Tonic. Best invention ever for jump puzzles with char, norn etc.

Remove energy cost from weapon skills

in Revenant

Kronos.2560

In pvp/wvw Revs need to learn to kite more and make careful skill selections to make the most of their energy (same with thief and initiative).

In Pve revs need to understand and accept that if they’re not spamming their energy they’re losing damage (same with thief and initiative).

Thief has plenty of utilities with the proper traits selected that instantly gain back initiative to keep dishing out damage…what does Rev have besides weapon swap to regain energy, other than time itself? Also, none of the thief’s utilities or F-skills cost initiative, just weapon skills minus the auto-attack, so there are only 4 slots at any time that actually cost initiative. The same no-initiative-cost utilities also allow the thief to get out of harm’s way if they do need to reset their initiative bar, where Rev has no significant distance-producing skills and the few leaps they do have cost energy.

You forgot to mention that in the situation where rev did actually get away and go ooc, if he was above 50 energy he will instantly loose all that saved up energy even if it was only ooc for 1/2 a second.

I do a salvation/retribution/glint support heal build with clerics and monk runes. You will do 600+ on regen ticks and ventari heal does 9kish. You’ll also have access to staff 5 and on heal skill (from retribution) you will spawn a projectile barrier. Basically you heal decent and can block most projectiles with a good spike heal if needed. It works as long as regen doesn’t get written over etc although I’m sure druid does better.

Had a thought for renegade.

At this stage renegade has as a weakness to conditions (very few cleanses), stuns (stun break on heal? really?) and mobility (only mobility you have is if you take shiro and you want to stick on target, otherwise you don’t even get reliable swiftness without glint.. wasn’t this class supposed to have the 2nd best mobility in game???).

So why so many blaring weaknesses? Could we maybe get a couple stunbreaks this legend? or since shortbow skill 3 is (terrible, reverse shotgun just… no) maybe we could get a blink skill in its place? like thief sb skill 5 or mesmer blink or druid staff 3? I mean it even has a portal theme for the shortbow it practically screams blink skill. At this point anything would help renegade in the mobility department.. =P

Leave the condition weakness if you must (prefer more condi clears but whatever) but please at least make it so we don’t have a stunbreak and mobility weakness too since all the nerfs to dodge stability and shiro costs etc…

Remove energy cost from weapon skills

in Revenant

Kronos.2560

A bad idea that many people suggest without much thought.

When energy costs are removed they can spam weapon skills all the time, and can use utilities lot more – but what does that exactly solve? These skills will be nerfed or have even longer cooldowns for PVP/WVW. In PVE you’ll be still turning on upkeeps and autoattack. You still swap stances or just wait when you run out of energy.

If anything, what rev needs is more ways of managing energies, and removing energy cost is not the solution.

A lot of what you said didn’t really make sense. You also contradicted yourself.

“We’ll just be spamming skills”
“You’ll still just sit there auto attacking”

Can’t really do both.

As for Arkaile. Whether ANET takes this idea, and botches balancing or not is not up to me. I’d rather have some change, in hopes for better.

Because right now, Revenant is in a really bad place. And I’d rather gamble for it being even worse, at the chance of it being better.

^ this. It could work out to be fine taking energy off weapon skills with some adjustments to utilities. It could also end horribly. But looking at how limited rev is now. I think I would take that gamble in hopes of something better.

And also in PVE i would like to be able to use weapon skills and not have them drastically reduce my dps because it depletes all my energy. Auto attack and spam a single utility is just… soo much fun.

The downside is a lot of the high energy costs make it so you can either auto attack and use a utility or two, or use some weapon skills with no utility. Plus not to mention they are throwing more cds then ever on rev anyways.

If it was purely energy costs and no cds I would understand but we have energy cost and cds. Maybe not remove the energy from weapon skills but something has got to change.

Before this beta weekend, I was debating which of the three Expac bundles I wanted, After I’m debating if I want to buy the Expac at all.

Personally I think just having mounts for normal maps we already have will make the expansion worth it. Everything after that is a bonus. Although I would like to see the new classes be viable, thus some of the feedback. =)

I think for tagging mobs in a zerg, very good. For single target damage its majorly lacking. They need to up the damage to your target without making it op from the splash damage. At this point its damage is low cause 1 shot can hit 25 people.

Utilities

Icerazor- literally has Ice in his name, shoots blue, icy looking projectiles and yet he deals vuln and cripple and not chill. What is this garbage Anet. The one time that Theme > Functionality would actually work in Rev’s favor you decide to screw theme and give us the two weakest conditions in the game. If this dealt chill it would actually have synergy with the Mallyx line.
The only positive is that it (when not bugged) stacks with Soucleave and can deal decent damage to one target if they stand still for over 6 seconds and you have 100 energy to start with. Which is never.

I have a feeling this originally was a chill, but this skill hits 20 times? If traited, and if they all hit, that’s 20 stacks of torment? that would be OP for sure.

I do feel like there was a lost opportunity for synergy with the torment on chill trait. 5 pulses on 5 enemies wouldn’t have been too terribly bad.

It probably was and its 40 stacks of torment (2 per chill) but lets be honest. You spam ua a couple times (which you cant spam the kala skills) and you have over 50+ torment. And that is also assuming its only one target and every projectile hits.

The amount of damage the elite on Kalla potentially adds is literally insane. It will be 100% fine in pve raids.

That may be true but if for an entire spec the ONLY thing worth using is the elite. I think you have a problem.

My suggestions to fix the revenant’s core issues are two (for PvE): either remove energy from weapon skills, so that we can do more interesting rotations, or have our starting energy be at 100 instead of 50, so that we are forced to use energy skills other than the upkeep one before the legend cooldown is over and we can reset it back to 100 again. If 100 was the base value, then our upkeep skills wouldn’t be enough to put it at 0 before legend swapping becomes available again, which means that using MORE skills would actually lead to a DPS boost, instead of a DPS nerf. If you are worried about PvP and WvW balance, then just make this a PvE only change.

I would love to see no energy on weapon (so I actually use them). The 100 energy starting would just help my ocd. I hate when you go out of combat for 1/2 a second and loose 30-50 energy instantly if you saved some up! It doesn’t even slowly degen to 50 its instant…

Renegade needs more bleed duration on the target hit (the splash damage can stay low) because renegade dps is great for HUGE groups but terrible vs single targets.

Would love to see chill in renegade shortbow and legend skills to mesh with corruption line.

Those are the 2 main things for me.

Renegade concerns

in Revenant

Posted by: Kronos.2560

Kronos.2560

I realize that this spec is not great in pvp, so I’ll just state this from the pve perspective.

When I am testing on a golem mace auto attacks get me around 12-14 torment stacks and 10-12 poison stacks as a cap(not including base dmg or any skills used).

Shortbow gives me 6-7 bleed stacks with auto attack.

So…. I understand that shortbow can pierce and explode on a lot of enemies at once. But a LOT of pve stuff is either vs a boss or just a couple enemies. There are very few situations where there are 25 enemies all stacking on top of eachother unless you are tagging basic mobs or zerging in wvw.

Is there any way we can get an increased duration on shattershot? Would there be a way to make it so the target you hit gets 6-8 seconds bleed and the shatter from hit only gives out 2-4 (like it does now) . That way renegade wont be completely useless vs bosses, fractals, champs…. pretty much anything except going to orr tagging stuff. And it will still be able to keep the tagging mass aoe aspect of it?

Also the cast times for a lot of renegade skills are too long. If I use skill 2 (bloodbane path) I am actually dealing less damage then I do with auto attack because the attack takes soo long to cast. Aside from that some numbers need tweaking a bit more duration would be nice. Also would love to see chill on shortbow and legend so it actually meshes with corruption line. At this point I can do 1 UA with mallyx and stack nearly 20 torment (and its spammable!). Nothing in the shortbow or kalla legend gets anywhere near that.

Even if you made icerazor summon deal chill instead of cripple. It could stack up a lot of torment I agree. But the torment would last what? Like 2 seconds? Just because its a stack of 40+ torment does not mean its all that good if it doesn’t last long. Plus I can easily get 50+ torment with mace/mallyx ua spam and that torment lasts quite a while.

Just some thoughts I had, I really want to use the shortbow BUT I fear it will end up like guardian staff used to be (mostly useless unless tagging in a zerg). I mean with a condition spec its more worth it damage wise to use hammer for ranged and get in for some ua’s then shortbow would be on a boss. That’s ridiculous shortbow needs a lot more single target damage!

Well that’s my general thoughts on it.

In summary
-increase shortbow single target dps
-add some chill application somewhere
-lower some cast times to make skills viable

=)

Even if they keep it all Pve so be it. But at least they should increase the bleed duration and add some chill effects somewhere. I mean one UA with mallyx does around 20 torment and I can spam it! Make the icerazor do chilled instead! Seriously! And if thats too op lower the amount of hits.. easy fix.

With runes mace is dishing out 10+ seconds of torment per hit.. Ok don’t make it better then mace but really? With bleed runes on shortbow im dealing maybe half the dps that I do with mace….. Really?

I can honestly only see it as a group buff for bleeds… maybe… and some lifesteal…. that’t it for pve… sad..

Please add some chill application to shortbow somewhere! Or add it to icerazor’s ire! For goodness sake his name has ice in it and his attacks are ice based! Vuln stacks do us no good in pve! Virtually any group will hit the 25 vuln cap fast! Just make him do less attacks and give chill. Where is the synergy with mallyx? I feel like i should stay in mallyx, spam ua and if I have to for a secondary heal use kallas elite skill. Thats it. (Assuming your kalla skills dont get killed or feared or stunned before they do anything). Just my 2 cents.

Just curious also is the heal skill supposed to be useless and they assume we just use the elite instead? Cause it seems like it…. the healing feels non-existent.

Heal
Breakrazor’s Bastion
The biggest issue I have here is the small heal amount. 3100 isn’t much. And the I wont be able to sit and wait for 10 second to soak up the heal ticks in most situations.
Bumping the initial self heal to 4100 at least, would help tremendously. And it would still leave room for the health tick to be useful.
The 33% reduction to condition damage isn’t very useful, and it forces you to stay in the circle for it’s benefit. Most condi players will just light up the area with fields. Also, if damage reduction was really that useful, Jalis would be used more, and he’s not, really. Because you still take plenty of damage through the mitigation.
Adding some condi removal here would be nice. It could remove a condition on pulse.
Lastly, what’s up with the heal costing 10 energy, when all the other heals cost only 5?

There may be a reason why the base heal is so low. Take a look at some of the AOE skills. The thing is, we don’t have much information but I can imagine using active healing via lifesteal. This will require you to build up your energy by ranging first. When you need a heal, I imagine you can pop your elite upkeep, and hit Sevenshot. That’s at least 7 hits and more if it pierces(unconfirmed). The shortbow skills look relatively good on energy(again we don’t know yet) and they hit multiple shots. That big F3 AOE? If it works with the elite, that’s a huge amount of life siphon. May not be energy efficient but I’m just brainstorming with what little info we had. Too bad the elite only “empowers players”. That would be sweet with Icerazor’s Ire(20 hits).

I hope the wiki page notes are wrong..
Note
Can only siphon health once per second

Cause if its right then aoe and multi hits don’t do a thing more in the healing department.

If you go glint/vent and all the gear/traits for healing you actually do quite well. You give a regeneration tick of 500+ to all allies (not to mention the other boons you are applying). And the ventari heal spam is good. Druid still wins out a bit in the spike heals but with 500-600 regen per tick from just standing there … not too shabby.

Although if you are wanting the new spec for healing I suspect it will be a condi based one. Shortbow at least is condi based on leaks etc.

I’ve been thinking and I really like the idea Euthymias for another gap closer, but there is nowhere else to put rev damage except auto. But maybe if you mix the two together.

Make sword 2 be a leap to target that immediately does a flurry attack that chills. That way it would still work well in singling out people and yet be dps skill.

Prescision Strike Fix

in Revenant

Kronos.2560

So I know anet probably wont read this but whatever.. might as well hope right?

So Precision Strike at this point is very very buggy. When they reduced the dps on auto (which was needed a bit) they moved it to skill 2 which just does not work well. Boxes/walls/invisible bugs/grass/trees/the sky…. yes it does enjoy targeting these….

Precision strike essentially hits 3 times in a 1/2 second window with a 4 second cd (assuming it hits). What I propose to do is change it to a melee skill similar to the warrior f1 skill flurry. Yes it wont be ranged but it will actually hit the enemy not boxes. Keep its same dps and chill ability, make it hit 6x instead of 3 but at half the damage. Also using flurry as the animation model makes it so you don’t have to make anything new. And wammo you have a new skill 2 which everyone will use. Ranged damage skills on a melee weapon are just… not a great idea. No offense.

If anyone has any other ideas on changing it please do tell, I enjoy hearing them.

-Looks- I mean this is fashion wars 2 right?
-Stat changing yes you can argue that 5 sets of normal armor is the same as this one stat wise but, doesn’t that mean normal armor is only 1/5 as good?
-Guaranteed to stay top gear
With the rate things are going I wouldn’t be surprised if they made a new tier in between ascended and legendary. And with that just bumped up legendary stats and make ascended 2nd best. (if you doubt this then look at what happened the old top tier of exotics)

Just thought I should inform people, I just got to the third part of the legendary backpack in steps. It takes at least 6 dark matter to do to the Ad Infinitum III: Unbound step (not including the amount it will take for crafting, if it keeps the pattern it will be 3 to craft it at least). Plus that isn’t the final form of the backpack so It will require a 4th upgrade….

So all in all it looks like they want us to salvage at least 9+ ascended weapons/armor in order to get this. This is the point where I no longer have a drive to do any more daily fractals for pages because its just not worth it. (the 9 is assuming they don’t jump up the number in the end which they always tend to do also).

I will state it again why are they soo determined to make us get rid of all our armor and weapons for a skin? If you have got that many extra ascended pieces as drops from chests/pve/pvp or whatever then you have the midas touch and have probably got multiple precursors dropped to… now for the rest of us… yea….

I’ve seen this statement a couple of times, and I’d like to know: How did they do that exactly? I’m not saying I agree/disagree, I just want an objective (!) explanation on what changes that came with HoT caused this. Thanks in advance

In the new WvW maps they removed the old smaller ones, and put (amazing looking) but very large new maps in their place. The old maps were barely full as is, making the new maps just about empty. (granted i’m not on a top server maybe they are different, but I shouldn’t have to be just to play wvw).

With dungeons I believe he is referring to them nerfing the gold rewards at the end of paths making it not worth your time to do them.

Poly Refractor - buy now or wait until raids?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Kronos.2560

Kronos.2560

The poly-lumis are dirt cheap relative to 2014-2015 pricing. I can’t imagine they will stay this low, since the drop rate didn’t increase (according to ToT bag data) and the price of ToTs is about 50-100% higher than last year (depending on how you measure).

Thus if you have 1,000g to spare, I’d buy at least one and then wait to see the look, price, and drop rate on the new ghostly aura. On the other hand, if you have only 50-300g to spend, you might want to save it.

The poly lumi have several issues:

  • They don’t work on ascended.
  • They only go in L80 items.
  • They soulbind the item for exotics (and more than a few exotic trinkets can’t be salvaged).

Thus, the only way you can re-use them is to add them to a fine-quality, L80 accessory or ring and salvage that with a BL kit. That means both a loss of stats and an inconvenience.

In the new HoT story there are a couple different rings/accessories that become account bound when equipped. At least that’s what I have been using with my black cat poly.

And for op, you’d might as well buy one now. Its cheap if anything just sell it later. Plus the new stuff will probably be 2k gold+ basing off how they are doing things now. (for example see how much it costs to make an ascended not legendary nightfury shoulderpiece) Or it will be account bound and insanely rare (plus only 1 chance per week). So go for the old stuff it is more reliable! =P

-WvW new maps are really cool looking, but completely empty considering how huge they are (and they require a group to get anywhere).
-The new specs where fun, but they can only go so far.
-Dungeon nerf to rewards makes them pointless unless grinding the new mastery system.
-Fractals have no new content at all. They simple stretched it out, (even the instabilities are the same). Really how much work did this take? 5 minutes?

I’ll probably do some more dailies to see what next step to the new fractal back piece is, but after that will probably drop the game for a while. Which is understandable after a point…. but it should not be to this point already… I mean it basically just came out!

Revenant as healer/support

Atm, PuGs run away from your tablet, avoiding it at any cost. 95% people consider it as boss mechanic or enemy player ability.

If you want to support, we have one niche and that is beefed up Regeneration. Just get outgoing healing modifiers and your Regeneration will be strongest possible one by far in game.

Then you can run Glint/Shiro and know that you support well.

this is actually an interesting take…you know what? while commanding i might do something like that!

Its actually really good for allies if you do it right, and you don’t have to bother with the darn tablet. You get decent dps with glint/shiro (not as high as with zerk but still good) but you are giving a constant 500-600 hp/s with just regeneration to allies (not including other glint buffs or f2 active).

They should update the existing celestial armor. Making a new 2.0 celestial gear to craft would be the final nail in the coffin. At least for me.

Do you regret pre-purchasing HoT?

I don’t regret buying HoT. But I am kind of sad that the amount of new stuff is a petty amount. Plus most the old stuff like dungeons the rewards were nerfed to the point that its pointless to do them. (also fractals the new dungeons were just stretched with the same old boring content) .

When I say to myself that $50 is only a couple movies then yes for the time I’ve spent it was worth it. But It is sad that I am already getting to the point of thinking that’s it? maybe I should just drop the game after all..
