Except every skill on the hammer is clearly designed for heavy ranged damage.. Giving it a leap would only hurt the weapon, not help it.
You ever need to reposition with a movement skill?
Do you wvw?
What’s the movement skill on Warrior’s LB/Rifle? Or Guardian’s Staff/Scepter?
Hammer #3 was never supposed to be a gap closer:
…feels way more physical to fit the style of the hamer. We don’t wanna just have another “throwing the hammer”, so we’re like, what’s a cool way to do this?
I can’t help it… really??? You are comparing revenant with warrior? Who with just about every other weapon has a leap/rush (mixed with Warrior’s Sprint and Fast hands for even more escaping)…… not to mention you can mix and match skills (unlike rev where you can only take…. shiro) to use and there are rushes included…. warrior has access to soo many movement skills…. rampage, sword leap,gs 3/5, Sundering Leap, Bull’s Charge…… just some of them…. plus don’t forget Berserker Stance and Endure pain for no condi or damage while you run away….
Where on the other hand revenant has….. Shiro……
Sorry I just couldn’t help it… comparing the vast amount of movement abilities of warrior to revenant is just too funny…
Vengeful hammers are useful in pve i agree. As long as the terrain is completely flat and there are no knockdowns/knockbacks/jumping/moving (if camera faces up/down at all the hammers hit the ground). So yea as long as all those conditions are met its good.
Honestly I really do enjoy this skill a lot but i find it still draining energy but there are no hammers all the time… Either fix it or change it… even with how much I enjoy the skill it has come to this…
Make hammer 3 similar to thief sword 2. It leaps to target and for around 5 seconds has an option of teleporting you back to your start location. That way you can use it as a gap closer/running skill or still stay a ways away and use as dps.
Maize balm was nerfed just an fyi
So far based on their responses for this complaint. Yes they are. Frankly I think letting terrain destroy them i a junk mechanic. But apparently someone thinks its a good idea to kitten jalis stance.
Judging by the statistics on large number of opened bags on wiki, this doesn’t even mean your luck is bad. The drop rate is THAT bad. 4 drops in 320k bags puts it about 1 drop per 80k bags. (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Trick-or-Treat_Bag/research)
IMO this is the worst RNG gate on time-limited content item ANet has developed yet. Please introduce another method of acquiring the brew or alternative item that can be acquired outside of ToT bag RNG for the recipe.
1/80k?? Ouch yea that’s just cruel for a 2 week event.
Also I haven’t spent that much on the bags and the drops from them partially pay back the cost. So its not all bad but still the droprate sucks. They really need to make a recipe. Didn’t they say they would last Halloween?
I hate my luck enough said.
Are any of these recipes ascended or only exotic?
Well you have axe to stick to a target already. 1200 range is fine but they’d probably have to increase CD to 10. Something between Mesmer blink and thief shortbow 5.
Make it 5 energy with no CD and its a deal!!!
They are very situational.
-Ventari is amazing if need projectile blocks.
-Jalis is great if in a group of mobs (and hammers don’t suddenly dissapear)
-Mallyx is good if needing resistance. (Although if they have boon removal say your prayers and run for your life)
-Glint is good at buffing and tanking (might just be buffing with recent shield/heal needs)
-shiro is good for quickness etc.
The problem is when these legends are out of their comfort zones they mostly suck. Ventari is useless most the time. Jalis if there are walls/knockdown/terrain it sucks. Mallyx simply boon removal crushes all of it. Etc etc
Or just a button to turn them on and off. Along with the faucet circles at feet.
Throw knives could be fun.
Personally I’m still for a ghostbusters themed condi rifle cause it needs love and that would be too much fun. (If done right and they didn’t ruin it)
If it is getting a CD why not do this? Plus it gives revenant at least some mobility to leave combat considering we have axe for following now anyways…. If this was because of skipping walls etc ground targeting would fix that…. Just saying
On a side note:
-For glints heal I think they should have changed war stance to be better instead but whatever.
-Shield CD is fine.
-Revenant is still junk to conditions even with Mallyx. (Can only survive if spamming pull from allies and then your dps tanks cause no energy, not to mention boon remove and you are dead)
-Mallyx banish enchantment doesn’t work 25% of time even when next to enemy.
-Mallyx elite feels very weak atm.
-Ventari is only useful for projectile block. That is all.
-Glint has entire traitline for stunbreaks yet only ones you get are glints and jalis’s (50 energy) ones… That’s really weak. (Not considering legend swapping traitline because you shouldn’t have to take an entire traitline for a single stunbreak!)
-Jallis hammers are garbage. Even on flat ground they disapear.
-Jallis road is garbage. Needs stabil on use and retal while on road. Or a lot more durarion.
-Underwater… Enough said
Overall kind of sad the only changes are nerfing and not actually fixing issues.
Are you using shared empowerment?
I agree it was a lot less visible outside of preview.
It was story boss
but weapons now give 3 stats as well as boon or condi duration…..
But looking at the new stats compared to the old if I want to run a condition or boon build the new stats are WAY better.
I thought there wasn’t going to be a gear progression?
There are 2 new stats: expertise (condition duration) and concentration (boon duration). Will celestial gear be getting these stats added?
It let me pick any piece i want after defeating mordremoth.
Also you should mention getting knocked down will deactivate them because they will hit the ground.
It was not there until I re-ran a lvl 50 fractal, then it showed up. (the ascended box for 20 pristine’s).
Also a side note old fractal skins don’t seem to count towards the collection achievement.
Doesn’t proc for me either.
I agree in pve its useless. But wvw it is amazing for splitting groups. I would be fine with cd reduction but duration increase would make this skill too strong in wvw for perma blocking players.
Bring stand your ground, retreat, feel my wrath. Last skill up to you.
Valor
-Take altruistic healing, others up to you
Honor
-take Pure of Voice, others up to you
Dragonhunter
-as see fit (there’s bound to be changes so can’t give good trait info at this point)
Use shouts for condi removal/healing. If you get low on health swap to staff and use skill 4 for a large heal. (2k per tick from altruistic)
This’ll work for most content, unless wanting to go meditations or more dps oriented.
OP assumes players have to earn hero points in the most efficient way. Buy why?
He has all rights to assume players have to get them in the most efficient way. If clearing the entire old world map only gives 200 and you need 400.. Why wouldn’t you assume that? It would essentially be the only way to actually unlock elite specs…
You forgot to add along side with making hero points in new area 10 per, instead of 1. Dungeons are getting gold reward nerfed to incentivize new content also!
Basically they are worried the new content sucks so they are forcing us to play it. At least that is my take on it. (otherwise why would you do soo much to force us to play there?)
They’re not forcing you and you’re making the mistake assuming that the only reason they could be making those changes is to get more people to play the expansion areas. There are more possible reasons than just that.
If I want to play the elite specializations they are forcing me. The entire world completion gives 200 points, you need 400 to unlock elite specialization (the only place to get the rest is new zone or wvw for months).
Plus the question of would you do dungeons if they gave you nothing??!?

I was thinking of leveling my revenant normal. But with this much grind needed after lvl 80 for elite spec I’m thinking tomes will be the answer.. to bad.
Elite Specializations & Hero Point Feedback [Merged]

It kind of feels like they are forcing us to have the “New Player Experience” even now that we are lvl 80.
I was hoping to meander my way through the new areas exploring and enjoying but now all I’ll be doing is rushing to Hero Points so i can get herald. Maybe I’ll go back and enjoy it after but its very doubtful considering I have 10 accounts..
The forcing to play the new content makes me VERY worried. First the kitten dungeon rewards to incentivize new content… and now they basically REQUIRE us to play in these areas for elites (old WORLD map completion only gives 200 hero points). If you have to force people to play in the areas that usually means they are poorly made! crossing fingers that isn’t the case…
eh bows are usually bad dps with the exception of ranger longbow
If it’s the same as dragon hunter id take hammer any day :P I actually dont see how a bow could be better than the hammer, it would have to offer something new, and currently the hammer is quite unique in that regard.
I feel the same hammer is just better. There just isn’t any new spin on how to use bows that they haven’t used already (fire lb on warrior, bounce shots thief, fast shots/condi ranger sb, distance ranger lb). If we are talking about a ranged condi weapon (considering hammer is power) I think a ghostbuster theme rifle would be sweet but even then they’d find some way to make it suck. I think I’ll just stick with hammer for now.
Yea this isn’t gw2 related this is just failing at human interactions. This sounds like you really kittened him off and like he said he doesn’t want to talk to you (via the no thanks response, that means conversation is over), but you kept bugging him anyways.
Lets all be honest rifle needs to be renamed to “BB gun”. Cause that’s about as far as it shoots and hard as it hits.
“The issue with jalis is that unlike all of the other stances it’s skills are not truly useful in all game modes.”.
Yes but at the same time its not just game mode. Jalis skills are just a mess in any game mode. Road is restricted to a small stacked space. Vengeful hammers force you to be in the middle of a field/wide open area or they wont work. Taunt is very very situational. Elite is only one that kind of carries over. So yes its based on game mode but even then… it just lacks any semblance of synergy between skills. All of its skills basically counteract eachother.
-If I use any skill it leaves no energy for elite. (not dissing the elite, its good I’m just making synergy observation)
-If I use road, it wont really work unless I’m stacking so hammers would be pointless.
-If I use hammers, the opposite applies where stacking doesn’t work because terrain destroys them.
-I guess taunt can be used with other skills… but nonetheless it is probably one of the most situational skills in the game. Useless in pve, useless in wvw, and just meh in pvp.
As Misguided said its the multiplicative? (66% DR) one.
Hype:
Elite specs
Revenant
New WvW areas.
Salvaging ascended rings from fractals
New legendaries (may not like but its always nice to have something to work towards if you want that)
Hate:
No new dungeons/fractals
Giving 50 more fractal levels but not adding any actual content…
Nerfing to dungeon rewards to incentivize playing new content.
Ha ha yea I was soo confused with what the first comment was saying. Thanks for the clarifying jaxom!
I totally agree healing power should scale, although if it did scale zerker builds would be hit hard. Right now in zerker your heals does just about the same, if it changed so the heal did very little (without healing power)… could be interesting. Would give a new meaning to the term squishy. I for one am completely for the change! Variety is good! I hate going more healy and the only difference is my dps takes a hit.
I know I’m in the minority while I post this comment but I hate, HATE, Jalis. Not from a “roles” standpoint, it just feels clunky to me. Too much CC in WvW making rev not a great frontline class.
If RotGD worked more like an ele’s Armor of Earth and Vengeful Hammers was lowered to -6 degen instead of -7, I would like it much more.
Also Inspiring Reinforcement needs help (longer stab or faster application)… just something.I say these things knowing my bias against Dwarf Stance #JalisMakinMeHateDoorfs
I personally enjoy Jalis, at least I will once it gets some fixes. But I highly doubt you are the minority. I would bet that most people feel that way and the minority actually use jalis. I also agree if nothing changes it still is clunky. Road doesn’t really work (not enough or long enough stabil) vengeful hammers disappear on terrain, taunt is just meh…, elite is ok (still feel needs more duration) but looking at it that way. If all the legend has going for it that works is an elite something is wrong…
So basically what you’re saying is that if you use rite and vengeful hammers at same time, while using f2 active this can be achieved. Which is probably possible assuming you use all of them simultaneously.
Please tell me where all this energy is coming from? You do realize you get 50 energy on legend swap not 100 right? Just rite takes all of it… done, no more energy, now the waiting game, sit back and auto attack…. you realize this right?
I guess most of them are going the way of the dungeon.
Still present and functional, but with reduced vendor prices?
Pushed to the side and ignored.
Sad but true…
You can still run your traditional dungeons because they are not deleting them.
That is true, but I have some questions for ya.
If world bosses didn’t drop loot would you do them after the first time?
If a mining node didn’t give mats and was only for the fun of mining them would you continue doing it?
If Silverwastes had no drops/shovels and was just for “the fun of being there” would anyone still do it?
Same applies to dungeons, they give kitten drops. The gold at the end was their only worth so if you take that away you get what? Something that is for “the fun of being there” but gives no loot. And like the questions above of “are you going to continue doing it past the first time” is a big NO.
Inspiring Reinforcement- Make it break stun and give stability immediately on use. While on road pulse retaliation. Keep the cooldown.
Forced engagement just needs projectile speed.
Vengeful hammers This ability is by far the best ability jalis has. The only downside is that it gets destroyed by walls/uneven ground. (to the point I would call it a bug but apparently its supposed to do that…..)
Rite of The great dwarf – Remove stunbreak (give to inspiring reinforcement). The case time feels fine, but I think the duration needs to be bumped up to 7-8 seconds instead of 5. (and no it wouldn’t be op because it’s not a group invul, its just a over-glorified group protection)
Why not delete all the ascended mats? Even if you need them for new ascended it takes what, a day of normal play to get them back?
I realize that but that’s all dungeons have going for them. IF they drastically increase the rare/exo drop rate in dungeons then maybe it could work, but It’s been about a week since I’ve got a rare/exo drop in a dungeon, whereas I can get multiple in silverwastes in about 5 minutes?
It sure wasn’t a good balance pass. If you disagree please explain to me for example how Sigil of Demon Summoning or Sigil of Celerity are ever useful. In any situation (compared to just about any other sigil).
I personally just want some of the more fun to use sigils to be… well useful…. It’s not really much fun when a 5% damage sigil is MUCH better then something that’s (potentially) exciting… its just boring.. All it takes is tweaking how the effects work for example: (celerity, demon summoning, luck) to apply on crit/hit with a cd. There are tons of effects that could be way fun to use, and useful but some of these are just junk.. plain and simple junk.
I don’t understand this either. I can make just as much if not more farming silverwastes, if that’s the case why remove dungeon rewards? All its doing is making running a dungeon completely worthless. I enjoy running dungeons but if there is no incentive whatsoever (junk drops and no gold at end) why would I bother? Basically what this is telling me is they want us to do mindless farming (silverwastes). Just because you want fractals to be played more doesn’t mean you should kitten the stuff already in game. If you have to kitten base content in order for people to play the new stuff then the new stuff probably sucks because it cant compete with the old.
I’ll play the expansion, and enjoy the parts I like about it. But if their new motto continues turning into “Let’s kitten old stuff in order to get people to play what’s new”. This game will have devolved to be something I don’t want to spend time or money playing.
There are some players playing torment so don t touch Malyx torment stacking;). The elite is good with the torment Aoe.
The elite is useless. Even for stacking torment.
+1,
Why bother with elite when you can use that energy for unyielding anguish spike that deals more torment anyways.
+1 xedoslol
I hope they’ll release more underwater stuff in a new expac about the underwater dragon
Yea just need to wait another 3 years…
