Also you should mention the torment caps at 3 (6 if condi met). Doesnt matter how many pulses or times they come back into it doesnt add any more torment/damage. So basically this skill is just the ultimate troll.

I enjoy it, but just wish it at least stacked some torment damage for all the hatred/trolling its causing for party members.

Revenant can be okay support, but don’t forget at expense of all dps and its support offers 0 boons. Simply a little meh healing support.

I would say revenant is best class at boon stripping at this point of time. That’s all its good for…. yep banish enchantment spam ftw.

At least until it gets some tweaks to numbers so it can actually deal decent dps. I feel like im running an uplvl that is still using its starter weapon at lvl 50. Talk about hitting with a wet noodle…

I think overall need fix to

-Increased damage in all respects.
-Lots of skills need lower activation time. (cds are fine, but taking 1s+ to activate almost every single skill is a bit much)
-Unyielding anguish caps at 3 torment (6 if condi met) and does not add more on pulses even if mob keeps coming into aoe. This skill also ignores resistance and stability.
-Many channeling skills wont work unless you are in combat (energy moving up and down)
-Also ventari tablet protective solace works against things like weapons test fracal. (it might work vs catapults/trebs etc, just haven’t had chance to test it) I have no problem with this one but could be easily abused if true.

Aside from lack of escape/block/swiftness etc etc seems alright considering it is only half available.

remove energy from weaponskills

Kronos.2560

True; but with upkeep skills (like 9 on the dwarf stance) or the projectile reflect, when you activate them you not only get the energy degen.. but you have no way to gain ANY energy unless you deactivate them, making it a double edged sword: you lose your regen AND you get energy degen, adding energy acquisition through skills would be a way to counterract this.

+1

I completely agree, it sucks to use Mallyx elite and feel completely powerless as is degens. At least little dips going up from auto attacks would be nice…

Things you actually LIKE about the class

Kronos.2560

I like the concept of some of the revenant skills.

-Unyielding Anguish for example had a fun idea of bouncing the enemy while stacking torment/removing defiance. (oh wait it caps at 3 stacks torment, doesn’t remove defiance and keeps enemies out of attack range)
-Rite of the Dwarf could be a nice party boon for another source of damage reduction aside from protection. (but giving the extremely high costs to maintain and the very long cast time, not even worth thinking about)

etc etc etc…

The concepts are great, but the skills turned out to be complete messes. I just really hope the reduce the cast time on Rotd gets fixed, and make unyielding anguish do something other then annoy your teammates. (heck even if they keep as is but reverse the pull. So it makes the enemies stay in one spot).

-Also they need to give the revenant a major dps increase in every way also (It took me 30 seconds to kill a vet mob in zerk gear, takes about 10 on any other class).

Rev: Unyielding Anguish Question/Bug

in Revenant

Posted by: Kronos.2560

Kronos.2560

The skill Unyielding Anguish to me was pretty much the only draw for the demonic stance. It seems like a cool way to stack some torment on the enemy. But…..

When you use this skill it stacks 3 torment one time and displaces enemy. That part works great. The problem after that is the well pulses 4 times but ONLY the displacement pulses, the torment does not continue to increase with pulses. Essentially making this a kind of useless skill as all it does now is keep jumping the enemy around, while dealing 0 extra damage and making it a pain to keep hitting them (aside from the first 3 stacks of torment which have already worn off by that point). I am just wondering if this is intended or a bug?

Also this skill completely ignores defiance stacks. This is probably intended but really? It WOULD be a great skill for knocking off some defiance, plus what else can we even use (aside from the hopeless dwarf taunt)?

So basically questions is this:

-Is Unyielding Anguish supposed to cap at 3 stacks of torment (6 if condi met) and do nothing more with the pulses?
-Is Unyielding Anguish supposed to ignore defiance stacks?

This was the one redeeming skill from the previews, I really hope it doesn’t stay this pitiful. =(

Asking to change the game so others NEED your support is not realistic in the least…..

I don’t think anyone here asked for that. At least I for one do not want to need a healer/support. What I would like to see is the ability to have a healer but not need one. At this point if you are running mostly heals you are mostly useless. I am simply wanting it to be useful but not required. I cant think of a single example in game where a support (hammer guard with perma protection for example) is needed. Not a single one. Where as I can think of a ton of places where it is very useful to a group.

Being useful is not the same as being required. All we are asking for is just to be useful (if we feel so inclined to play that role) not to change the game into a trinity.

lets talk healing power and roles

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Kronos.2560

The problem with healing in my opinion is there are 2 types of healers.

I will use gw1 for an example (though not to say gw2 should be like gw1 but this is an example of using healers). In gw1 you would normally have 2 full healers in a party of 8. 1 for direct healing and the other for protection healing. It doesn’t matter how much you can direct heal if people are dieing in 1 hit because they don’t have damage reduction/protection spirit (only take 10% of hp in a hit) etc etc.

Now back to gw2 assuming you want to be a healer, I think this is the problem. Healing only affects your direct healing (and it is weak at that). Protection (if you can apply it) gives 33% reduction which is great, but most the time is not anywhere near enough to keep up with the damage from many normal mob hits let alone most boss attacks. If there was some way to let classes trait for protective healing (gives x% damage reduction that stacks with protection) with certain skills that scales off healing power I think purely healing builds may be viable. Allowing the option of a protection heal and a direct heal is something that might allow for changes. Plus healing doesn’t affect much at this point, if it gave an extra damage reduction (with certain skills of course) to classes it would potentially make it a more used stat.

I am not for or against a trinity, but some people really enjoy playing the healer role. If you made it so you can have a healer/protection player that is actually helpful/useful but not required I am all for it. Given the harder pve content we have now, dungeons/fractals its all so easy.. healers aren’t needed in the least, but being able to be one for fun occasionally and actually make a difference would be a welcome change in my book.

Only problem is this would make mix n match less worth doing. (while simply making outfits more viable). I vote for more accessory items that add an effect. Like poly-refractors/Queen bee but let them be purely cosmetic (no stats) and able to put as infusions in ascended gear. Making us wear exotic and not our ascended doesn’t make sense as endgame (this is fashion wars 2 after all).

I have a perm bank, tp etc and I would buy one of these for sure! Although if they did make it for example: 800 gems to unlock per character I would not buy any. I like making a new character and not feeling required to “upgrade” them later on. I would gladly pay a 1 time gem fee for a small account sharing bag slot though. I would say probably 5 slots sounds fair. For perma gathering tools and 2 or so more things. (In my mind if you are swapping up ascended armor you can go to a town).

I would much prefer that it be a one time upgrade, but the reason for my suggestion of “per character” is because the cost per character would balance out the potential loss in harvesting tool sales.

I agree with you it does make sense. But it also discourages people from making more new characters. Maybe a 1 time fee but just up from 800 to something like 2k. I dunno that’s just my thought on it at least =P.

Dont make Dungeons Harder-More builds Viable

Kronos.2560

I see a lot of people here saying that the only way to kill the Zerker Meta is to make dungeon content harder (less stacking in corners, and less DPS stats), forcing people to run builds with more survive-ability instead of full Zerker. This isn’t the solution. Have you ever tried going into a dungeon with “tankier gear” instead of Zerkers?

Yes I have, and if I am a heavy wearing tanky gear I can face tank most dungeon mobs/bosses without dodges. (using AC as example) Spider pools? no problem sit down in a stack of them. Kholer spin? Dont make me laugh 1-2k damage of of 7. And I heal it back almost instantly..

Only really ever need dodge vs those super long cd smash bosses (couple in arah off top of head). But all you do is simply move behind him (and have plenty of time to do it as its a VERY long wind-up).

So I for one am on the side of harder dungeons or please just add underworld and fissure of woe from gw1. Being able to throw caution to the wind and face tank most things is a sign its a bit too easy. Doesn’t surprise me at all that zerker is so popular when all it makes you do is add an extra dodge here and there.

Obsidian Sanctum Issues

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kronos.2560

Kronos.2560

A little clarity:

Players that did this will not be actioned, as this farm was an unintended (but inevitable) side effect of the Obsidian Sanctum map. This “farming” was not an exploit, or against our Rules of Conduct. Our rules of conduct very specifically define what would be considered a violation:

“While participating in Plaver-vs-Player (PvP) gameplay, you will not participate in any form of match manipulation. Match manipulation is defined as any action taken to fix or manipulate the outcome of a match or alter or manipulate the rankings or ratings of the ladder. This also includes disrupting other people’s game experience by not actively participating in matches in good faith, a.k.a leeching.”

Since Obsidian Sanctum does not impact the WvW results, “kill trading” is not against the rules for this map or mode, and thus this rule is not applicable. However, macroing/botting this would be (I’m watching you!).

This situation is very similar to a situation found in PvE where players continually fail an event to farm monsters. While not in the best interest of community and gameplay, the game itself lends itself to interpretation of what is allowed because of how event chains are setup.

Obviously when you put 3 server spawn points so close to each other, things are going to happen.

For now, until we fix OS…

You should watch for bots/makros more closely. I see people who automatise this all the time. Its obvious if the fight moves after a while but a few people still cast at the position where the fight used to be instead of at the new position.
I hope you take action. We are kicking such people from our guild as soon as we take notice.
T1 EU, I can invite you to our guild if you need the event times to watch more closely.

If you are talking about world bosses or large wvw zerg fights, I personally a lot of the time end up attacking the air after they are dead or move. Not to defend any bots etc I am very against them also. But I would like to not be banned for having a bad connection.
My connection gets bad enough that I can lag for a couple minutes after killing world bosses. At Karka Queen (usually one of worst ones) I sometimes cant even move or stop auto attacking until a most of the people have left the map. WvW tends to not be as bad but I can get stuck in place auto attacking the air sometimes for a while after a fight is done.

Kronos.2560

I think its a good idea, I have a couple Sigils I would like to add to the list. I wont bother mentioning runes for now. =P

Sigil of luck
oo yay a boon, plus low chance its anything good… or you could just use sigil of restoration and get a guaranteed 500+ hp per kill. If they swapped it to be something like get a boon on hit (with an appropriate cd) then it could be fun.

Sigil of demon summoning
Possibly the worst sigil.. ever? Once use once have to die to charge again, plus it summons a rather worthless (maybe takes 1-2 hits before dies) summon. I honestly cant think of a single situation where it could be useful.. or even fun. Once again if this was changed to be chance to summon on hit (with appropriate cool down) now we are getting somewhere!

Some of the other sigils feel/are underpowered but each of them at least has a build they can work with and some way they can shine. I would also say that having the ability to swap/unlock sigils on weapons (not account/character only on each individual weapon) would greatly increase variety.

The concept of having a Flesh Reaver constantly summoned sounds fun, dies fast but revives quickly. You can only have 1 at a time but keeping it up is not hard.

But you are wrong about the worst Sigils.

Worst sigils are those +10% more damage to X monster.
Why carry something so limiting?

Those need to be changed to like,
Sigil of Ghost Slaying:
10% longer Burning duration
50% chance to cause a Flame Blast on critical hit (cooldown: 9s)

Sigil of Justice
20% Chance on Critical: Remove a Boon
20% Chance to transfer a condition to your foe on critical hit
(Cooldown: 10 Seconds)

Basically, the minor version of the sigils, except 2 effects on one Sigil.

Was figuring you wouldn’t have the specific type sigil unless fight that monster. But yea that would be way fun, depending on what monster its “effective against” the benefit goes accordingly. Or even if they made it as an example: +5% damage vs ghosts then added a secondary flame blast with 9 second cd. Or +5% damage vs undead and secondary chance quickness on hit (60 second cd.) That way if you primarily fight ghosts or undead or whatever it is you still get benefits but not only against them. Overall that’s a great idea!

Although part of me still thinks that to have variety we need to be able to unlock sigils to some extent. I’m crossing my fingers (and toes) that unlocking and a sigil/rune rework happens in expansion. That would be soo sweet!

Why cap daily achiev at 10 per day?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kronos.2560

Kronos.2560

So achievement points really only matter to those in the top 100.. So I guess I just don’t understand why they don’t let daily give more per day for the casual players. And let the elitists fight over getting all the normal ones (not simply having it be a log in competition). There are very cool skins etc that you can get with achievements, but they require 33k+ for the set. That simply is not achievable by most players.

I guess my inquiry is simple, as there is a 15k cap in daily/monthly (plus monthly doesn’t exist anymore) why not let us earn 50-100 a day so we can actually get to that cap before 2050. If players could potentially get to the cap 15-20k achiev is a pain in the butt yes, but possible for a newer player.

The only defense of this I can think of is the worry players wont log in anymore!! If that is in fact the case, the game should be reworked. Players should log in because they want to play the game because its fun, not because it is required.

That’s my view on it, always welcome to input or ideas! =)

Suggestion: Unlocking Runes/Sigils

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kronos.2560

Kronos.2560

Most people have 2 good sigils on a weapon and 1 good rune set. Making more options viable without loosing the first one would make the demand go up. As they can buy more rune/sigils sets even if it is for only 1 time. Its better then not buying at all because of the steep changing price.

Many still wouldn’t buy, do to it not being the “meta” Those that do buy to try different things would no longer need to re-bu them thus removing their demand from the market. As it stands now either option is purely speculation on what players would do.

For what it’s worth I would love being able to switch my runes/sigils on the fly. I just think it would negativly impact the value of some runes/sigils.

Good point. At some point the demand from the market would disapear I agree.

But my figuring was for example: I have a zerker ascended greatsword with sigil might/force. Those 2 sigils are useful in most situations, but I would want to swap them depending on my character. But I’m never going to replace a sigil because as soon as I did I loose the 5g+ I put into buying the sigil.
So at this stage I am out of the market, completely unless an amazing sigil comes out (very unlikely). Where as if unlocking was implemented I would at least be in the market enough to buy 1 of each of the other ones. (which is 1 of each one more then I would buy now). Because at the end of the day I will be out of the market 1 way or another.

Hopefully that makes sense =)

Death Penalty

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

How easy would any of the 10000s of old single player games be, if you could always just revive on death.

but you can just reload on death. And unlike in MMO chances are you saved in front of hard parts not having to rerun anywhere. And they also have no death penalty.

most old rpgs that allowed saves didnt allow you to save anywhere, they let you save at specific areas/times in serious content.

Most old platformers returned you the start of the level, or a midpoint.

Sports games had no mid match saves.

tactics games, you can save, or start over, but saving would suspend the game at that moment.

Most games really dont let you continue with no costs/loss.

some people did use cheats to do so.

To continue on his list:
A lot of old games if you died too many times would restart the entire game completely. Yes you have last save-point (if they have them) but if you didn’t save its all over. So imagine if you died in gw2 at lvl 80 and had to start at level one again.. Yea no death penalty in other games? I don’t think so. If anything it was a lot more steep and forced you to get better or take steps to not die.

Not to mention it was stated that new players wouldn’t join elitist groups cause they were scared. Fact is death penalty or not if you die in an elitist group (and you are bad/slowing them down) they kick you. So this wouldn’t change a thing.

1. Because in order to make the Rune/Sigils unlockable, they must become much more expensive. In order to do this, the version that unlocks it for your slot/account/character/whatever arbitrary thing you think is unique but isn’t would need to be crafted.
2. See 1.
3. Any kind of unlocking is the same. The specific version of permanent unlocking from the previous thread is irrelevant.
4. This is the part where I basically recommended the same thing you are, slot based unlocking in order to maintain a high value for runes/sigils.
5. You cannot allow the existing runes/sigils to unlock, that would break the economy.

1. The price of runes/sigils is based on the demand. The demand would go up thus the prices would go up. Problem solved.
2. See 1
3. If it unlocks per slot not account/character price/demand would stay higher. (plus there would be no getting the sigil/runes back once unlocked on weapon) thus demand supply lower/demand higher.
4. I agree
5. I don’t understand how that would break the economy. Prices change a bit? Don’t they anyways when something new comes out? No point at all in dividing new from old.

If anything this would just help the game market because people are buying up the less used runes/sigils to use on those rare occasions that they could be fun.

I would use a vast number of different combinations if it didn’t have such a steep price to swap out the ones I have now.

A fourth stat on gear

Kronos.2560

My main question is if there is a fourth stat on gear what about those people with celestial armor? Would it suddenly be pointless as everything else gets more stats and celest gets worse compared?

In this regard if they started adding more stats I personally think it would lead to the question. Why not just remove stats/ or why not just give everyone all stats always so there is no complaining?

Possible reclass option?

With the trait systems, personal storylines etc in place I don’t think this will ever be viable. I don’t have a reference but at some point I believe I read “there will not be race/class changes in game and they aren’t planning on adding them at this point”. Feel free to correct or add the reference if you find it.

release date soon?

I hope it comes by August. With all the promises of more info and how slow it has been coming out I really hope it doesn’t drag into 2016.

I personally am excited for the expansion but if it drags too much with no date to expect. I’m kind of afraid I will move on and forget about it altogether as the normal game-play is very stale at this point.

Lack of content - huge mistake.

The problem boils down to its an unknown release date. Meaning we might have no content for a month or a year. If they would simply just give a release date it would help with a lot of the worries. At least for me its not the month or two with no updates, its the undetermined amount of time with no updates that gets me worried. Because undetermined can last a very very long time.

they need to put this in the store already

I agree XD I’ve been waiting for this for sooooo long now. Don’t even want to wait till Wednesday for it (Tuesday for others). Wanted it ever since it was datamined.

That is hoping it comes Tuesday/Wednesday….

But either way It had better come soon! I’ve been checking gemstore daily, just in case its another 24 hour one like wings. Once I get this and mini moose my gw2 life is complete. =) (at least until another new shiny takes my interest =P)

crazy people are everywhere, even in gw2

i said “stack” 4 to 5 times but they never listened, at this point i knew they were noobs.

Just because they wont only stack they are noobs? Right perfect logic.

next map was harpy map.

all of us fell down by knock back few times and i realize warrior showing offline.

Notice you stated ALL of you fell a few times. Wouldn’t that make you just as much of a noob as well? I mean you are a guardian with reflect and stability all over the place.

Plus I agree with the other responses. It sounds like you were the 1 guy bossing them around. (saying stack 1-2 times may be tolerated but 4-5… at that point why not just join the zerk only stack everything group?). Unless this was in fact a zerker only group then I retract everything I have said, because they signed up for it.

Plus votekicking a guildie just because you dont see him online, without asking. Yea unless I misread/misinterpreted something I would have kicked you as well.

(and to the OP: try elemental shaman lvl 49 and see if running zerker is punishing or not).

So basically the only time that zerker is punishing is in a lvl 49 fractal where the instability makes it so dodging is bad. Yea… did this make anyone else laugh?

No offense btw I just couldn’t resist..
