Quick fix for this:
Talk to the npc outside of the jp if he tell you “map is full” wait 4-5 sec and try again should be working

This doesn’t work. I have tried to walk through the portal and talk to the NPC, both times I’ve seen the winter wonderland loading screen appear, before it swaps right back to the Divinities Reach loading screen. I then end up right back in DR.

Level 70 Personal Story step skipped.

Kynmarcher.2184

Going through the personal story with a friend, and we both encountered a bug where a large portion of the level 70 personal story mission was missing. When playing through ‘A Light in the Darkness’ we chose to let an innocent die as our fear, which should have put us on a path to interact with Demolitionist Tonn in the missions Tower Down, Munition Aquisition, To The Core and Breaking the Bone Ship. However, upon completing the mission ‘Forging the Pact’ instead of being directed to start the Tower Down mission we were instead placed on the mission ‘The Battle of Fort Trinity’.

When we interacted with the NPCs during the Battle for Fort Trinity we were told about how we lost Tonn, and following the battle we now have to deliver an artifact to Tonn’s widow, but we never interacted with Tonn because this part of the story was skipped entirely. This was a major let down for my friend, because she loves the personal story so far, and now she feels like she’s missed out on a significant piece of it.

Want To Try GW1

My advice if you’re going to play GW1 would be to buy all the standalone games and the expansion but start with Nightfall (unless you’re seriously interested in seeing Ascalon Pre-Searing). Nightfall gives you access to heroes, which are superior in every way to the henchmen NPCs.

Also a great thing to do is to purchase mercenary slots which allow your other characters to join you as heroes. Create a few PvP characters then select them as your mercenaries and you’ve got heroes with classes that you might not readily have access to. Perfect example of this is the Ritualist class, which is one of the best but the only Ritualist heroes are difficult to get your hands on.

This really shouldn’t be possible unless Issormir killed Garm and Eir, because regardless of if the player is afking or not, those two will still whittle down the creatures health in the exact same way that the heroes of Destiny’s Edge whittle down the bosses in the other starting zones.

Suggestion: First Person Camera

Hello A.Net Development Team (assuming you see this).

So this is just a humble request from a blogger. I have a tumblr for all things gaming and one of the segments I like to do is called ‘Adventures in Tyria’ where I take screenshots from a zone (mostly taken through vistas) and I give a little blurb about the zone. Now it’s not HUGE, but I am working on expanding it as I go through various zones because lets face it, the world you’ve created here is absolutely amazing!

That said there is something I’d love to see you add to the game when you have the ability to do so and that is a first person camera view. I’m not after additional functionality, I don’t want to be able to play Guild Wars 2 like I play Skyrim, but what I want to be able to do is zoom in and take screenshots without my character being in the way of the shot.

This would allow me (but also many other people) to take amazing shots of the world you’ve created, something that I feel not having a first person camera really hurts. So please, if it can be done, consider it so we can share awesome screenshots with others who either haven’t experienced the game, or enjoy it as much as we do.

Well… sadly not everyone is as hardcore as you and cannot solo veterans so readily. Some veteran combinations are rather nasty (dredge veterans come to mind) and so I disagree that all NPCs need to be replaced with veterans.

However I would like to see less champions and more silvers. From my understanding of difficulty NPCs rank like this:

Normal > Veteran > Silver > Champion > Purple

Champions and Purples should be reserved for meta event bosses/final wave trash.

Silvers should be present in mini-dungeons and at the end of dynamic event chains where they can be avoided or killed depending on player skill

Veterans should remain unchanged.

IMO I find it annoying when you’re trying to do solo explorations and your path is blocked by a champion because unless you’re a skilled guardian or extremely good at kiting or self healing you’re not going to go any further down that path (especially if said path is blocked by a locked door).

The same can be said for when you’re soloing dynamic events and suddenly a champion spawns which you can’t kill for the final reward.

The broom is not a mount it’s a vanity item that alters how you move. There are no speed boosts, it’s simply there so you can ‘look cool’

Now if A.Net wants to add a horse/moa/dolyak which is exactly the same as the broom in the sense that it only changes how you move around and not the speed in which you move, that I can agree with. But this thread isn’t about vanity, it’s about speed and getting around the world faster, and we already move fast enough without them.

Race Change

in Suggestions

Posted by: Kynmarcher.2184

Kynmarcher.2184

Not going to happen for the exact reason Sairenkao pointed out.

This isn’t WoW, RIFT or ToR where your story is influenced by faction (or class in the case of ToR) not race. In GW2 each race has a personalized story with unique choices at least at the start, sure it converges around level 30 into essentially the same story -but- for those first 20 levels your story is completely unique. In order for you to get a race change they (A.Net) would need to do the following:

1. Automatically choose for you your starting path and the decisions you made, giving you zero input in your personal story.

2. Allow you to restart those missions and somehow have the decisions you’ve made shape the story you’ve already completed.

or

3. Allow you to restart the entire story fresh.

None of those three by the way are optimal uses of developer time. In the case of 1 and 3, people would complain that the choice was taken out of their hands/they have to restart the story again. For 2 it would require a ton of coding to get it implemented, we’re talking weeks to months of work which would cost the company a lot more than it makes.

We’re not going to get mounts as long as the asura waypoint system is within the game. You can have one or the other but you can’t have both. So by all means if you’d like to have to run on your mount (they won’t introduce flying mounts as it would trivialize certain jumping puzzles/vista access) from Lions Arch to Orr by all means continue to propose mounts.

This again. Aren’t overflows identical to the real shards?

They are, but they are set at different times to regular servers.

For example, let’s say on Tarnished Coast the Shatterer is about to land, all the pre-events have been done it’s just a matter of minutes before the fight starts. On the overflow however, the Shatterer may not be ready to land at all to the point where the pre-events are not even active.

Sure people on the overflow -could- wait for the event to start there, but as there is no timer to indicate how long until events start, there is no way of knowing how long people are going to need to wait in the overflow to get the event to start.

Kynmarcher.2184

The only way to fix the ‘issue’ without harming legitimate guesters is to limit the amount of times you can guest to multiple servers. For example:

Player A on Anvil Rock wants to play with his friend B on Tarnished Coast. He guests there not only to just hang out with his friend but also to do the dragon events as they spawn. He can guest to Tarnished Coast as many times as he likes without penalty because he is only guesting to one server.

Player C on Tarnished Coast wants to get access to more world chests than others around him, so he tries to guest to multiple servers. The first guesting gives him unlimited access to the server he chooses, however after the second guesting he finds that the guesting option is locked, preventing him from hopping servers all the time.

-THAT- is a solution.

Half of the threads on these forums are made by people demanding zone spots or exclusive chest access and most of it is fueled by inconsiderate greed with lines such as: “I am a resident on this server therefor I should get the chest” or “I am a resident of this server, if I choose to go to a zone guesters should be punted to the overflow to make room for me!”

Eventually you just get desensitized to the whole thing. The fact that most of them lie through over exaggeration to make a point doesn’t help either.

There have been hundreds of topics about this since the game launched. A.net thus far is of the opinion that mounts and flying mounts are not necessary for the game world and I am in full agreement. We have asura waypoints for fast travel purposes, flying mounts and regular mounts would make no sense.

Also I don’t think there actually is a race of creatures within Tyria that can be used as a flying mount.

Well for most races tattoos make no sense…

Charr for example, are covered in hair. Sure they -could- get a tattoo etched into their skin after they shaved a patch of their hair off but once the hair grew back the tattoo would be invisible.

Sylvari are not flesh and blood, they are essentially living trees. In order for them to get a tattoo they would need to have it burned into them and then the color would be simply black (you can’t really color a scorch mark) and it wouldn’t be very distinguishable from the rest of their bodies unless they had pale ‘skin’ so to speak.

Asura and Humans would be the only races that would be able to get tattoos aside from Norn.

Assuming there is a problem at all.

As I’ve pointed out in other threads, if you’re wanting to guarantee yourself a spot show up earlier. My impression of the system is ‘first come, first served’ so if you show up 1-5 minutes before the event starts, you run the risk of not getting from overflow to the actual zone before the dragon lands.

Show up a good 10-15 minutes prior and you should be good. Hell, give the zone a hand with the pre-events leading up to the big fight even, it’ll make it go just that little bit faster.

The only issue that cannot be solved so easily is if someone DCs and then is punted back to the overflow. This has happened, I have been punted mid-fight and lost my chance at the chest but I chalk that up to bad luck. If there was some way to reserve your place in the zone so that if your connection is dropped suddenly you won’t go back to the overflow that would be an improvement.

Sex changes actually are possible with a total makeover kit.

You cannot change your race or your characters name.

The reason there is no race change feature (nor will there ever be) is because of the personal story integration. Each race has a different story, a different home district and it would be impossible to automatically change your story to the story decisions you -would- have made, nor would it be possible to go back to redo the missions or restart the personal story.

What about removing Magic Find?

in Suggestions

Posted by: Kynmarcher.2184

Kynmarcher.2184

I would bet most of the players that want to remove it completely are those that dont want to spend the money on the set. Simple like that. (while ofc im sure there is a minority with other reasons.)

I have a full exotic MF set with Pirate/Traveler runes and exquisite gems. I still want MF removed because it gimps my EVERYTHING.

Why did you waste your money/materials on that.

The magic find on that gear is the same regardless of the gear quality. You could be using greens and still have the same base MF as someone who used their ectos on exotics. The only thing that is better is the other stats and the armor, and the increase isn’t -really- that impressive.

MF is a great stat but it needs to have zero effect in dungeons so people don’t use it there. It only affects drops from mobs. Chests, salvaging, loot bags… none of that is affected, so really all they need to do is essentially strip the effects of magic find in dungeons and your problem is solved.

Also OP there is a huge difference between GW1 and GW2 in terms of economy. In GW1 it wasn’t a persistent world and farming wasn’t something you could do endlessly (you would eventually need to return to town to reset the zone you were in). Drop rates were higher -but- still limited to how many party members you had. If you had a team full of heroes you received far less loot than a full team, or even half a team of players would.

In GW2 you can farm endlessly provided your farming route passes a vendor where you can take a quick stop to sell all the items you don’t plan to place on the TP. As a result drop rates are lower, because if they were as high as GW1 then the economy would spiral out of control with high end crafting materials being worth nothing as a result. If you want proof of that take a look at the greens and blues on the TP. Most of them unless the demand is high are selling for a few copper above the vendor price. Now imagine that level of chaos, but with every item regardless of rarity.

MF needs to stay, it just needs to be nullified within dungeons.

Poor engine optimization was one of the main reasons why the Tortanic sank

Erm… what the hell is the tortanic?

The rest of your post is idiotic at best. Yes they -could- spend hundreds of hours coding engine optimization so that ‘you’ get a better frame rate, or they could spend those hours making meaningful content updates which you seem to be wanting so much.

As far as guesting is concerned, you’ve made it clear you want people guesting to be on overflow servers permanently which in case you were wondering makes it more difficult for people wanting to hang out with their friends/complete the dragon events. Sure -you- have an easier time getting the dragon killed, but Jim over there who just wants to hang out with his friend has to find a way to an overflow server for just about every zone in the game so he can hang out with his friends on other servers…

Oh and the people who can’t kill dragons on their servers and thus rely on guesting to get access to the loot chests from these world events? Yeah they don’t matter, stick them on an overflow server where they can’t actually complete the event because it’s not happening at the same time as the regular servers.

Either way nothing is going to happen to guesting as it currently stands. Any changes made to the system will only penalize a large number of players, all for the convenience of the greedy. I suggest you deal with it.

Kynmarcher.2184

World bosses are always going to be laggy so that’s hardly a significant issue. Most of the ‘issues’ with people and guesting comes from the fact that they are stuck in overflow while the event is happening so they miss out.

What is your recommendation? To turn off guesting? Because that’s fair to the people who want to hang out with their friends/can’t do the events on their servers right? No, it’s not. It’s you and those like you being selfish and wanting priority so you can get access to the best loot that are the problem.

Yes I have framerate issues when I do world bosses, I accept that. I don’t whinge about it and demand A.Net fix things. Oh how these forums would be better if others followed my example and only raised issues about matters which were actually important (note: World bosses and frame rate issues are not).

Kynmarcher.2184

I feel there are many things to improve the game and I hope this thread can be used as our suggestions on improvement.

1. Make guesters guest on an overflow on the server they are visiting.
2. Turn DR off or communicate how it really works so we all know how to keep it from effecting players that just want to play the game their way.
3. Make Spvp balance for classes completely different than Pve balance.
4. Boost dps on engineers and rangers for Pve and add more survival for ranger pets or just remove them from the game and change the class to an archer.
5. Quit with the secret loot nerfs and place a limit on how many porous bones a player can get in one day.
6. Stop releasing silly fluff content patches and focus on making the game better.
7. Don’t buff anymore dungeons and ruin them for the levels they were intended for. If you can’t make a decent challenging dungeon to begin with don’t change it and further anger your loyal players. If you want to make it more difficult then add a hard mode and make changes there with increased loot chances. If players are abusing a dungeon decrease the tokens granted for the most popular path.
8. Stop posting important game information on Facebook or Twitter first. This is your forum so use it first to share game news.
9. Get rid of multi guild representation.
10. Stop over moderating the forums and also ask for devs to keep rude comments in a private message instead of making not nice responses on the forums.
11. Don’t add gated content. Mmo players are going to find a way to burn thru any content as fast as possible so focus on replay enjoyment.
12. Add world bosses and dungeon bosses that are complex and not something that just spams a one shot at players.
13. Make loot drops also based on area effect healing and support skills. Don’t give glass cannons all the glory for playing the game. If support got as much credit for drops then it would slow down progression and even out demand for crafting mats for dps and support gear.
14. Add a sub option without DR or mail restrictions.
I’ll add more later unless this is merged or deleted or moved etc…

1. No, a large number of people guesting are doing it to either A. Hang out with the friends or B. Complete events that can’t be done on their home server due to lack of population. Show up with plenty of time to spare instead of porting at the last second and expecting no overflow.

2. DR is already communicated quite well (as to it’s purpose) in the wiki. It is there to disrupt bots and exploits from disrupting the economy. They will not disclose how it works (because it would give the exploiters the information the need to bypass it) nor will they remove it because doing so would cause more harm to the game than good.

3. Quite a bit of work you’re asking for there. I’m guessing you don’t know much about balancing or how game development actually works/costs.

4. No issues with this, personally I think Engineer rifle skills need a complete overhaul. Rangers need their pets though.

5. It’s called RNG sometimes it favors you, sometimes it doesn’t.

6. Stop complaining, content is content and the game is coming along just fine. If you don’t like it, the door is that way, don’t let it hit you on the way out.

7. To the last part of this point: That’s what DR does.

8. I check my twitter/facebook more times a day than I check these forums.

9. No.

10. Forums are fine as is, maybe if people didn’t spam or make threads about stupid topics the moderators wouldn’t have to deliver the smackdown.

11. Again, no, gated content is fine.

12. Also no, world boss fights are laggy enough without needing to worry about extra mechanics that could cause everyone in the area to wipe because their frames are so slow that they can’t get out of the way in time or click a button.

13. The second decent suggestion here… no complaints.

14. Absolutely not, and no I won’t explain why aside from mentioning that if GW got a sub, it would no longer be GW.

DR is slowing botters and exploiters by reducing the rewards they earn. It’s a method that works, sure it’s punishing regular players a little bit but those affected by it are at best a minority compared to the rest of the player base. I can live with that.

DR isn’t going away, so you have three options OP you can either:

A. Deal with the fact that DR isn’t going anywhere and adjust your dungeon schedule accordingly.

B. Quit the game because it doesn’t work the exact way you want it to.

C. Continue to complain over and over again despite the fact that -nothing- will actually change because DR is performing it’s job.

As for me, I’m done here. I see no reason to continue bumping this thread when there are better threads out there that are worth my time.

but quoted me

I only quoted you because of your hideous analogy in comparing this game to a pizza.

Perhaps I worded my post wrong when I said you needed to take a break from farming, but I stand by everything else I’ve said which is that DR is hurting bots and that the wild assumptions from people saying it doesn’t cannot hold up in an argument.

There are optimal ways for you to farm for tokens so use them if that’s what you -really- want. Four runs per day for 180 tokens per dungeon provided that you don’t complete any run in under 30 minutes. Stop whinging because you took the fast spammable route and as a result your reward is being cut by anti-botting mechanisms.

And you’re still unable to explain what the problem is with a “fast spammable route”. You can’t say it’s gold cause you clearly said it’s not needed, so what’s the problem with it? At this point, no matter what you say it will contradict something else you said. It’s like you’re disagreeing just for the sake of disagreeing. And some of us are actually employed, and don’t have time to run 4 dungeons a day like you. Not “whinging”. Just stating the obvious that this system is a poor solution to what, according to you, is a non-existent problem Since gold is something you don’t need, right?.

You seem to be under the impression that I need to explain anything. I don’t work for A.Net and even if I was I’m under no obligation to entertain you with an explanation… however since I am being charitable…

There are multiple problems with a fast spammable route and no DR attached to it.

1. Too many tokens per day: Prior to DR’s implementation you could earn between 400-600 tokens a day if you had enough time on your hands. Considering that an entire exotic set costs 1380 tokens that means you could have an entire set within the space of a weekend. Your ‘end game’ would essentially be over in 3 days time. After all why would you need to buy or craft any other set? You already have a full set of exotics and on the off hand that you do need another set, well you can just spend another weekend running fast spammable dungeon routes until you get it.

2. Time spent vs reward gained: I’ve said it and you confirmed it, there are some dungeon routes out there (CoF path 1 comes to mind) that are fast and spammable. Essentially you’re earning superior rewards with minimal time/effort investment. My opinion is that if you want the best gear you should put in a significant amount of effort to earn it. Constantly running fast, spammable dungeon routes is not even comparable to someone who runs all the paths of a particular dungeon and actually works for his exotics. Now I’m not saying you don’t deserve the best gear, but what I am saying is that you shouldn’t get it faster than people who are putting in more effort than you are.

3. No other routes would be done at all: Without DR the only dungeons being run at all would be the fast spammable routes. Forget any other explorable mode paths, why spend 40+ minutes running a second more challenging path for a better reward when you can just run the easy route over and over and over again. Path 2 for most dungeons is considered one of the better paths simply because the reward is greater and the effort required is moderate however 90% of the time before DR no one ran it because path 1 was easy, fast and whatever reward you earned in path 2 could be easily outdone by running path 1 twice or even three times.

Those are just three reasons that I can think of off the top of my head, all of them quite valid.

Also nice attempt to jab at my RL situation. FYI just because I say you can run 4 dungeons a day doesn’t mean I do. Like you I also have a job, unlike you I don’t complain when something doesn’t work the exact way I want it to because I actually grew up without a massive sense of entitlement.

You want the best rewards for minimal/no effort, and that simply is not how MMOs work.

Time to implement guesting restrictions.

I agree with some of the posters here on people being selfish.

People are guesting to higher population servers so they -can- do the event, because it is likely on their server that there simply are not enough people in the area at the time to kill the boss. It’s easy enough to do the events leading up to the boss sure, most of them can be done solo, but large group meta events can’t be done with only a few people, the event doesn’t scale down that low to the point where you can 5 or even 10 man a dragon.

If you want a guarantee of getting into the actual zone so that you can get the chest, be there earlier and don’t wait until the last minute to jump over. That way you’ve got more than enough time to go from overflow to the event without issues.

Wow did it better?

How has WoW done it better? There are zero systems implemented in WoW which combat bots. The Warden is a detection tool but it doesn’t catch the majority of the bots (just any botter that happens to use one the warden is already programmed to find) and a large number of bots remain in play until Blizzard can ban them all in one massive wave.

Meanwhile account hacking is still beyond common, gold spammers can be found on every server spamming /say and public channels, people still get mail spam every day and bots run rampant in multiple areas of the world. There are hundreds of sites offering WoW gold and people continue to buy it because they are too lazy to farm and have excess cash regardless of the illegality (in regards to the ToS) of the purchase.

I have been playing on Tarnished Coast with Map chat on for over a week now. Want to know how many gold spammers I saw advertising in Map? (or in say at the DR trading post) Two. Want to know how many mails I got from gold spammers? Zero. Now I can’t speak for the amount of account hackings going on in the game, but I’m going to take a good guess that the recent forced password change and the availability of the google authenticator has cut those down quite a bit as well. I don’t have the numbers for that though so that is at best a guess.

WoW did it better… that’s comedy gold right there.

Or ban the entire chinese subnet.

Because by being a botter that automatically means that the player must come from China. Nationalist much? >.>

FYI botters are world wide, from all countries. I’d actually go as far to say that botting is just as popular in all countries as it is in China that means America, Australia, Russia etc etc etc the list goes on.

The transfer cost is there for a very good reason. While the free transfers were up things were just chaotic.
So yeah, I rather we kept rewarding loyalty and punishing disloyalty to your server, to minimize the amount of winning-team-joiners out there.

If anything server transfers need to be more expensive or limited to once every few months to make people seriously consider what they’re doing rather than jump ship the moment their server starts to perform poorly.

2500 – 3000 gems should do it.

A zone in GW1 was completely unpopulated because of how the game was designed from the ground up. There was no persistent world, there was no grouping with individuals you found outside of towns/outposts because the only place you ran into people was within those towns and outposts. Every zone, in fact 90% of the world was a solo instance because even though you -could- group with people, unless you were doing a mission most people simply grabbed henchmen and went at it solo (a reality which became even more popular with Nightfall introducing heroes)

Having a large zone with no one in it unless you create a group in a town goes against everything that an open persistent world stands for.

And I never said GW1 wasn’t popular, what I said was that GW2 is more popular than GW1 for good reason. Do not twist my words to try to get some sort of point out of it (when you don’t have any).

Essentially what you want is to relive the glory days of GW1 within GW2. No different (perhaps worse) than the people demanding classic servers in various other MMOs. We will get new zones, they will be great zones after all we still have much of Tyria just by itself to explore not to mention Cantha and Elona when those two continents finally become available. However when a new zone is released it will not be in the format you want, it will be just like Orr and Southsun Cove (although less challenging so that people actually go there, as since I pointed out earlier Southsun Cove is hardly touched these days).

If you’re that desperate to play GW1 then go to the GW1 launcher and start it up (it doesn’t take that long to reinstall if you removed it) don’t ask A.Net to bring your GW1 fantasies into GW2 which is a vastly different game from the original.

A.Net isn’t going to adjust prices so that you can have an easier time looking for PvP games. You have four choices at this stage.

1. You can stay on your current server and deal with the long queues.

2. You can pay for a transfer to another server with gems via cash

3. You can pay for a transfer to another server with gems via gold

4. You can quit the game (although how you ‘quit’ something that doesn’t cost you anything to begin with is an interesting thought).

Consider yourself lucky that at least in this game you can use in game gold as a means to fund transfers through gem trading. Other games (such as WoW) are strictly cash only.

Well yeah, that’s true but that’s why you get there with plenty of time to spare so you can go from overflow to the actual zone in time for the event to start. Showing up at the last minute isn’t going to do you any favors.

It’s human error in all cases. The events are not unplayable it’s just that either the OP is showing up too late (so they’re stuck in overflow and show up after the mob is dead) or they don’t have a computer decent enough to handle the excessive amounts of animations and spell effects (and yes it can get pretty laggy at times) which causes the game to crash so that the player misses out.

None of these reasons justify a change which penalizes a large amount of players.

Erm…

I don’t see what the problem is. Does the realm crash when these events happen? Does the event get bugged when large amounts of people are around? Or does your computer just buckle under the strain of so much activity in one area?

If it’s the last one, try turning down your video settings temporarily and if that doesn’t work, try getting a better computer. I hate to be blunt but you’re essentially asking for A.net to punish people wanting to guest with their friends/guilds just so you can get loot, which isn’t cool.

Your idea is getting worse and worse, now you not only want an entire zone which cannot be completed without a dedicated group, but you want mobs to not respawn, which for zones is essentially area suicide due to the fact that there will be multiple groups in there (hence why it’s called a zone and not a dungeon) meaning that the groups that go in there first have to do all the work, while the groups that come in later can simply walk up to the chest and get their loot.

Sounds like you want a high difficulty dungeon, not a zone in which case be clear about what you’re after instead of trying to combine the two into an abomination which would only hurt the game if A.net decided to ever implement it in it’s current form.

Zones = Areas where multiple people can interact with each other, no grouping required aside from specific group events (or very difficult regular events) with respawning mobs so there is always something to kill. Most difficult zone to date = Southsun Cove

Dungeons = Areas where you need to have a dedicated group of 5 people to survive. Enemies are far more challenging and bosses in the area drop loot/give access to loot chests. Mobs do not respawn after death.

You do not mix the two. It’s either a zone or it’s a dungeon, you can’t have both. Remember this isn’t GW1, there’s a good reason for that and it’s one of the reasons this game is so popular.

Edit:

Okay so after some testing what I actually suggested is flawed. Instead, go to the filter options, select the slot that you’re searching for then type in the name of the armor (splint, chain, gladiator etc etc etc) and only items of that type will show up.

Not to be -that- guy or anything but this topic is over a month old. Why necro-bump when you could have easily created your own topic?

Leveling in this game is also very -easy- and far less grindy than any other game that I’ve played. Take my advice (or not, entirely up to you) and just ignore the experience bar. If they ever make the GW2 UI modular go as far as disabling it entirely so you can’t see it, then just explore the world going from heart to heart, clearing entire zones and you’ll level -very- quickly.

No pain no gain, stop asking for shortcuts >.<

Eh, well that’s debatable. The henchmen system (and then the improved hero system) was good and it certainly did help for general campaign completion but the failings of the AI could be really frustrating and make the game far more difficult than most casual players could stand. The henchmen were sadly a lot worse than heroes, with healer henchmen stopping healing mid-fight just to rez the downed DPS, often while they were getting hit as well.

Not to mention the elite areas and missions did add a degree of difficulty to the game which can’t really be matched anywhere else. Domain of Anguish in particular can rip groups apart in seconds, especially hero teams if they’re not prepared for it.

Fix DR... Or even better, just get rid of it.

DR = Diminishing Returns

It was implemented by A.net to cut down on bots/exploits gaining an unfair advantage over the economy. Essentially once you trigger DR (which is surprisingly difficult on the average character unless you do hardcore farming) your rewards are slowly decreased over time the more you repeat the same activity. People see more of it in dungeons, especially with fast path clears in explorable modes. Citadel of Flame Path 1 can be completed in under 30 minutes meaning that if you had a large amount of time on your hands, prior to DR you could go in there and do at least at a minimum 10 runs per day, which netted you at a minimum 600 tokens from that particular dungeon, not to mention karma, silver and other misc loot.

Now if you run the same content over and over again, or you are generally doing something which rewards a lot of loot over a short time period you’ll start to see diminishing returns which lowers the reward you get to a minimum value. Generally speaking the reward gets cut in half, then in half again going down until you get to a set value which doesn’t change. Thankfully outside of dungeons DR is entirely character based, so you can farm on character A until you get hit with enough DR to make the effort vs the reward completely pointless then you can switch to another character and do it all over again.

However for dungeons DR is account based, so it doesn’t matter how many characters you switch to, you will only be able to run CoF path 1 so many times before the time invested far outweighs the reward you’re getting.

The easiest way to maximize your rewards from dungeons right now is to run the first two paths of explorable mode for each dungeon (the third path is generally considered the hardest and more often than not is not run simply because of the extra difficulty, although the reward is a lot better) then return for a second run, but no more than that. 180 tokens per day from each dungeon for four runs which is nice considering that if you just stuck with path one, you’d only get 115 tokens.

DR really only affects dungeons, dynamic events and loot from enemies, it does not affect salvaging.

How is it forced? No one is making you go to FoW or UW if you dont want to it would simply be an option after you cleared the appropriate temple . ( it should be noted FoW and UW were ment to be groups of 8 in GW it just got turned into a farm later .)

Different games.

FoW and UW were from GW1 and yes they were entirely designed for groups because the entire game of GW1 was designed from the ground up for groups. There was no soloing unless you were a 55 monk or some other specialist build and you certainly didn’t solo places like FoW or UW.

GW2 is an entirely different game, it’s got solo content -everywhere- and most if not all content can be done by yourself. Sure there are group events that can’t be soloed (unless you’re particularly skilled, the average player cannot solo group events) but in GW2 grouping up and helping players is not forced unless you want to go to a dungeon and dungeons by themselves are small and short, no 10 hour DoA clears here, no sir.

Essentially what the OP is asking for is a return of GW1 style content where it’s an entire zone where if you don’t group you die, and that’s been done already. It’s called Southsun Cove. Hardly anyone goes there because it’s impossible to clear solo and most people simply find Orr and Frostgorge Sound to be better locations. The same thing would happen with this new zone. Sure like Southsun it would be ‘massively popular’ for the first few weeks, but once the novelty wore off (and it would quickly) people would start returning to Orr etc etc because it’s far easier to farm solo than it is to find four other people to run in a group with you for simple farming.

Maybe just your opinion (that stinks that is).

GW1 and GW2 are entirely different games, although they are set in the same world. Trying to compare them is like trying to compare Heroes of Might and Magic to Age of Empires. They might be both strategy games but one is turn based and the other is real time, the difference is in the systems and it’s what makes each game unique.

Hell, GW1 wasn’t even considered a true MMO in the traditional sense. It was at best a hybrid due to the fact that the only -multiplayer- part of the game was in various towns/outposts and PvP.

This game should get mounts and flying mounts it is so boring to walk so long… so it would be better if mount would get in GW. Like Charr rides on Dolyaks

No, we do not need them.

We have asuran waypoints for fast transport around the world, mounts make zero sense unless you’re planning on suggesting that waypoints get removed. Yes the Stone Summit used to ride Dolyaks and larger beasts but they did so only because they enslaved the creature not out of any loyalty.
