That idea would never work and here is why.

Bot programs are already smarter than this they can already autofill in weak capacha login checks in forums and auto detected and accept pop ups, Things you need to remember are these advanced bots work on packet detection not simple kid macro’s If a pop up appears in game the bot knows about it and can deal with it if need be this is how it knows when someone has whispered it and can respond.

Thing is bots already are totally capable of clicking on in game pop ups of any forum which is why this would never work.

Well unfortunately the posting system will not let me edit my post to fix said issues, majority of was due to lack of sleep. Though if you don’t want to read it than don’t. Furthermore it was hardly just about buying low selling high it was about how overall it is not worth the time selling a lot of anything on the trading post due to 1c undercuts.

It was about the actual math involved when deciding if your even going to profit from the sale compared to the vendor cost or if your just going to be selling at a loss. I made that point pretty obvious when I mentioned how I can see large stacks of items being sold for 1 or 2 copper more than vendor price, which in turn is actually a loss and not a profit because the sellers are not pricing the items to earn back the monetary fees applied for listing and sale.

I just threw in how this applied to me and my use of the trading post but overall it was about how seriously flawed the economy is at the current state. I am not going to explain how it effects you if that is what your asking and I don’t think it will effect a lot of players it only effects people who are not blind sighted by the undercutting process and the outcome of posting under value.

Which is basically anyone over the age of 19 and have experience with money handling and base principles of a auction house trade system. In fact I believe most people are either oblivious to the fact they are actually losing money down a sink by posting items for 1-5 copper above the vendor value or just don’t care.

The issue comes in when it hampers the ability for anybody else to make a profit from the items they have collected worth selling and instead just floods the TP with commodities that are never going to move due reasons above.

The losing teams get a increased point rate by a certain %, % based on how much a lead the winning team has. Ontop of this if the underdog can pull a win they get a greater bonus %.

I believe it was because even tho it was more akward to draw carry, during the time to actually want to use the weapon it is actually proven to be faster to un holster and start swinging since you can instantly turn that un holstering movement into a forward or sidewards thrust.

If it was facing the mallet end down then you first need to raise your weapon before you could defend yourself or attack anything which would in fact be slower than simply moving your head out of the way when u reach over to grab it.

Don’t quote me on this but I think this is the similar reason as to why crossbows and other weapons of that nature during that time of human history carried them facing striking end upward.

I’m not wrong mate, I have already corrected all previous attempts to foil my posts that suggest I made an attempt at a solution to the problem which I have not, furthermore I have already agreed to a lobby like selection for the dungeon similar to what WoW minus the auto join and teleport part.

I also share your pain GW2 is becoming the most ANTI social mmo I have ever played ever.

The only thing I can be of guilt for is saying that your lazy for not manually finding the group in a way currently supported, I never said it was perfect.

This is not an RPG, Man I almost completely rolled out of my chair in a fit of laughter, an RPG constantly rewards you for completing challenges with rare or wanted upgrades, This doesn’t this a MMO and MMO are meant to reward repetition and time spent/skill, this game clearly falls short somewhere between rewarding and time spent.

I cannot believe I am saying this but I don’t see where anybody gets off saying that WoWs loot system is bad and is a grind this is just as much as a time grind as that game except in that game I can go back and farm with my level 85 gear that actually makes me better than somebody else which is exactly the feeling you want after you put a lot of time and dedication into playing a game like that and this.

Ok several things.

1. I’ve heard many people in game state flat out that the this “diminishing returns anti-farm code” doesn’t even exist. People that have farmed 1+ hour in the same spot. Level 400 crafters too. I’ve also never run into this myself.

2. If you are after money then roam and farm and harvest. Crafting materials sell well and you’ll be hitting a variety of mob types if we assume DR isn’t your imagination.

3. If you are farming for specific crafting mats? DON’T. Do #2 and buy additional mats with the money you made.

4. The game consists of more than 1 zone. You can make money in all of them.

Remember folks, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.” If what you are doing isn’t working then ADAPT. Use that grey matter, it’s not just there for show.

Ok that’s all well and good but doing different things still yields the same result which is a tedious and painful grind to get something that is actually worth talking about. I can actually backfire that whole point of logic using the game as my concept.

1. Anet designed the game to be not loot/gear orientated and want players to not be demi goods with the gear they wore.

2. The loot system is purpose built to discourage collecting items.

Insanity comes into play here when you keep playing the game and expecting something in return for your effort and time. Because the game simply was not made to reward you for time spent doing something, anything at all. I still have not figured out what the point is at end game because gear means absolutely nothing your not any more powerful than somebody else which in my point of view defeats the purpose of wanting better gear to begin with. Cosmetic differences do not impress me in the slightest. What would impress me is someone able to come up with an entire action plan within 1/4 of a second which is the average time you get to make a decision when it comes to countering another player or a boss move.

For my final point people have been adapting its called finding exploits its not very well liked but Anet but hey the adapted to find a solution that would work. I guess that is what all the botters are doing as well.

Not that I am affiliated with any such activity I don’t like that anymore than the rest of you legit players.

Nah it is just because AC is not very popular, it is the most annoying and hardest of the first couple of dungeons and I am not sure how it stacks up now with tokens and things like that but it probably does not help its clause. I mean I ran AC at level 36 and as you know its a recommended level 30, We died so much just to trash that we all left most people give up doing that place. Then we hit level 40 and get CM and we can breeze that in under 60mins if we have nice sensible group setup and be out and ready to go again.

AC you can easily waste an hour just getting too the first boss. Let alone the rest of the boss like challenges that exist in story mode. CM is just a lot faster to run and because of the way loot works its more efficient to run that one then AC which is why everybody is normally sitting outside the dungeon gates at CM but u need to spam chat for AC. Which brings me back to my other posts but we can at least agree that it would be nice for a straight LFG >Tick dungeon your keen for box > wait for whispers.

Unique Weapon Types

Personally I am happy to do away with the class only weapons and just be able to pickup and run with what ever floats your boat but in a way that suits the profession you play. Such as thief with a staff that makes invisible for 60s and has a couple of ranged attacks that is all you can do with that weapon but you get the staff stats too.

Theif and longbow obviously would be awesome, Engineer carrying duel daggers, I dunno I personally just find class based weapons a con in today’s gaming environment.

The only way I would pay for cosmetics is if they allowed me to transmute from any type of gear as long as it is the same slot, for example light cloth heard item looks onto a medium head item basically a new transmute stone capable of transmuting cross gear types.

Well I’m all for that, but I don’t want some click and forget button to join a group. Though I don’t know why it ever takes an hour to get a group I normally only have to mention it twice and I get 5 whispers in under 3mins.

I never said it doesn’t need to be better your all assuming I said that, All I said was it pretty lazy to not make the effort to do those things if your really interested and that’s basically my whole point. My other point was that dungeons are not really worth the time full stop they have been altered again and now we have lame tokens or are going to get tokens which means now I get no reward at all and need to keep doing the dungeon again and again and again to get anything worth using. Before even though the loot role rate was pretty shocking for the amount of times you would most likely need to rez or respawn and fit the bill for gear dmg no matter how skilled you were you could at least get about 10s a run and maybe 1 item of use or usable items to salvage.

But no Anet once again shoot us in the eyes and tells us we cannot actually farm a dungeon, Well that just defeats the whole point of being at end game imo.

I don’t see it wasting your time, Your heading to location your calling out for a group as u travel by the time you get there you have a group. I would hardly call it a waste of time anyway since you can teleport right there, by change maps I assume you mean from anything but the PvE world which in that case your in the kitten lazy category. You should not even be looking for a group for a dungeon if your not in PvE world.

Further more your already wasting your time just by going to a dungeon because your chances of getting something Truly amazing are just not going to happen the game is not designed that way I can get the same chance as you out killing some random monster while wearing a full set of MF gear in fact I can probably get the gear I want faster just going to the TP and buying it and save myself all the heartache of even doing that.

I just don’t the see the point for it at all sorry, All you have to do is walk to the dungeon you want and start calling in chat most of the time you will find plenty of people sitting out side the dungeon doing the exact same thing and after a group.

So your solution if I want to run a dungeon, is to go to an area, and hope to find some people that want to run that same dungeon, without anyway to know if there are even people interested in the same dungeon by constantly spamming chat for an undetermined amount of time (could be hours), only to find in the end that there was no one interested in running that dungeon, so all I did in the end was waste 1 hour, and bother all the people in the map with a constant “LFG AC exp” every couple of minutes?

Sorry, that’s no solution at all. There needs to be a way to easily find other people interested in the same thing as us, without having to spam chat, or sacrifice a lot of time where we could be doing other things. Something like the “classifieds” sections in the newspaper, it has been in use for decades, and works pretty well…

AC eh, well you have already wasted countless hours of your time if you even think about running that one as it is the worst and most unrewarding of the them all. I never posted would be solution to begin with I never once said hey here is your solution.

Is that true because I would quit the game right now if it is, I don’t give a single kitten about 100% I just want to be able to do something challenging and get a good reward such as that if they lock the best away for those who grind the whole game to death well kitten me I am out and going back to other mmo’s. If a legendary is not WAY better than an exotic then that’s just bad game design I mean if I want gear feel like Diablo 3 I will play Diablo 3 but we all know the gear is crap in that game too.

Why do I keep getting the feeling that GW1 was/is way more rewarding and meaningful when you progress and get a nice item.

Pretty sure what this guy means is that the reward just SUCKS, The reward system does not adequately reward you for doing something challenging at all like take on a group mini boss event that for the kittening life of 5 people cannot take down in under 20mins even when we do everything right, then the bloody drop for it is a measly white item or 2 blues along with event reward.

Then we have the Dragon spawn that is no challenge at all in fact can be beaten solo if need be by spamming turrets at it until it drops dead and if anyone else is around turns into a laggy zerg until its down and drops 6 items and usually a yellow or two plus the even reward.

My point does not need any more explaining the game simply never rewards experienced players or team players to the extent it should be in fact some drunk idiot could idle most of the event and throw in a couple hits and still end up with a better loot reward by the end of it. There have been more cases where I have seen people who just do not work as a team and hit 1 button the whole time and or just do nothing until the last 2% of HP is left and have come out on top of the rest of the group who worked hard to get it down to 2% this is probably the biggest flaw in the entire game and I don’t give a kitten what you all say about other not to be named mmo’s at least they reward those who do make it to the end the hard way and rest who don’t try simply kittening quit because they cannot beat the boss.

I think you lose money on the TP no matter what because of the stupid fees you don’t kittening need a sale fee the listing tax is all that is required all the sale tax does is prevent you making any profit at all on an item unless u sell it for at least 5 copper more than you paid for it which is almost impossible while the system allows 1c undercuts because every other kitten drops the price so bloody low to like 10c with 15xxxxx people selling at same cost you wont make profit if someone sells 4 for 8c because of the combined fee of the listing + Sale % making it practically pointless trying to buy good cheap deals and re posting for a profit the only profit that’s actually viable is when you use materials you already have no use for and are just sitting around in your deposit do for example you make sell all that iron ore you have that you never use because your a Jewelcrafter then you make profit because your not buying somebody’s 3c less stack of iron to try and sell higher.

I can fully understand limiting the coin in the world by drop and reward but when you kitten up the only way to make a quick buck then that is when I and others who agree will start to froth at the mouth.

There have been countless times I have seen a good bargain like someone selling a 1silver item for 75c but do I make a profit on that… HARDLY even worth the math calculation even that calculation just involves me opening the trading post profit calculator app on my android device and inputting the buy-price and how many and what I plan to re list it for and before I even type in my listing price it shows me the min listing price I need before I break even, Now let me just put this clear to you all one more time, When the break even price is 25c over the current bazzilion 1-4c incremental stock that exists who the hell is going to buy it for 10c more and why on earth would anyone waste there time trying to play the trading post for a quick buck when your almost NEVER going to make a substantial profit in fact your more likely to run at a loss with every single buyout.

That everybody that is just total bullkitten and sorry if I curse a lot but the trading post in this game and the way its designed just makes my head hurt to the point unless I am buying to use I don’t even bother looking at whats cheap or whats being sold undervalue because I am going to be struggling to break even and its not worth my playing time to make 10c extra.

Don’t even get me started on the economy as a whole it is pretty clear to me that the only thing worth giving the slightest kitten about for farming is exotics because they sell for 1gold but I sure as kitten wont be farming wood or anything else that is going to make me a measly 3silver come sell time I will craft things and sell them for a quick buck usually just materials that are required to make a product because a finished product is worthless except for the few higher end crafts which still end up almost breaking even after you buy your runes for example to make a good bag.

But items like Greens and so on if vendor price is less than 1silver 40copper do not even bother looking at the TP to sell it unless the stats are really good for that level item because your almost always going to find someone selling it at 1 copper more and that will be bottom price which again makes my brain melt because they are selling at decent loss since they just paid 2x tax on something which the vendor would have given them for 1copper less instead they prefer to pay like 10copper so they effectively have lost money with every item they post for 1 -3 copper difference from the vendor value.

I am not a mathematician obviously and some of my ideals may be flawed and blinded by mouth froth but I think I at least make the point pretty clear on what my view is of the current TP.

I mean this is good, sure make other skills more useful. But what specific skills and what changes do You see need to be made to make the more useful.

Thief is by far not the only profession that suffers from people using only 1 or 3 of its moves all the time mesmer comes to mind and so does warrior.

There is a huge difference between USING only 1 or 3 skills or SPAMMING 1 or 3 skills. If as warrior you use hundred blades and you are not close to the target, its wasted and you cant use it again. Same as if the target dodges this skill. You cant spam it but have to wait for the CD to come again. With skills you can spam in a row thats not the case.

I had a big ol thing written out but I pressed Post reply instead of the Edit button as I edited a previous post to include this information.

I cannot be stuffed typing the half a page long in detail thing again but In short every weapon loadout has as a trade off be it the “pistol whip” that costs 5 and if u miss u just hit the air compared to something like “headshot” which dazes for only 1/4s and costs 4 the viable opening attacks make themselves pretty obvious because if you use anything other than those two opening attacks with Double dagger or Sword and pistol combo your not really putting out any dps.

I might make a short video explaining int detail as it would be a lot easier than to type it all up all over again.

All classes should have a different feel to them, something that makes them stand out. The thief’s initiative is what this class has, take that away and what are you left with? I am really not sure. A rather dull squishy warrior I suppose, that doesn’t sound like much fun to play.

I play a thief for the fast pace, the diving in and out of action and movement. I do not play it because it can kill another player in a few hits because I am never going to use that skill. I don’t PVP, as such I cannot comment much on balance or glass cannon builds. All I can say is there is more than one area of this game and that should be taken into consideration with all changes to classes.

Even then no class should have their main mechanic removed be based on the opinions of those who play against them. Only if the players of that class are not enjoying it, and I am sure that is not the case here.

I agree, I don’t exactly sound like I use any other moves but I always make use of every skill I have slotted in at some point during the fight even if I don’t have too I like to throw them in there to keep things fresh and try out other combinations of moves to and when I find something/Style that works well for me I use it more often than others but I don’t rely on it because in this game situations change and different mobs I find some skills work better than others for dealing with them and staying alive. If we are to complain at all I think the traps could use some work because in PvE there are not a lot of viable reasons to slot a trap over a instant utility skill or a passive bonus.

Of course we could use the traps but that is just the way I feel about some of the traps others may use traps more because of different builds where mine is based more around venom uptime.

…any thief who blows all their initiative on a particular ability is going to leave themselves vulnerable as a result. The entire class specialises in hit and run assaults, we’re very quick on our feet and this is countered by how ‘squishy’ we are. We’ve very low base health and an incredibly strong demand for environmental awareness compared to other classes. Changing core mechanics isn’t going to end well and will result in months, if not years of ‘balancing’ as is the case in certain other MMO’s.

Any thief would builds like a squishy cannon can kill most noobs (or cooldown’d pros) by blowing all their initiative in under a few seconds. If they don’t THEN they could just run away and try it again. It sounds as if you’re a little bias with your responses.

Thieves have a few issues. It doesn’t matter how you ‘think’ they should be played, if people can spam an ability and kill someone quickly then they’ll do it over and over again.

Suggesting changes is the best way to balance. Even bad suggestions could help find the core issue and improve the archtype.

I don’t even see the issue as I said in my previous post above, We already heavily rely on our initiative and if we blow it all and actually GET AWAY then that is your fault for not striking when the opportunity arises to do so.

You should also be able to heal easily enough in 1v1 before we come back, on top of all of this in group situations we really only target the weakest player or most valuable player in the vicinity you could easily work better as a team and 3v1 the thief down after his initial strike especially if you are a guardian you can just lay down your bloody invisible wall aoe to bind us to a small space which prevents us from running far and then just hammer into us while have you the chance.

Am I the only person here who thinks heartseeker and pistol whip are the only two skills the thief has which are do 90% of its overall damage take that away and us players who use thief might as well just delete the character and start an ele. Also good thief’s do not just spam those two moves we do use all our moves we use every bloody single one of them because with out them we would just shatter into glass regardless make you vulnerable first and do a lot more preparation than you really think we do because after we do fire off our two main skills we are sitting ducks with auto attack for the next 5 – 8s and we cannot spam those moves again unless we wait for the initiative to build up again.

We are the weakest melee class in the game due to our lack of taking hits, Instead of crying about how we 1 combo you, you just need to learn to counter us which is actually a lot easier than it appears since our biggest weakness is missing with our first spam strike avoid that and you have a fighting chance.

Every class has a weakness or a number of weaknesses and a certain move that is vital to evade and dodge if you all keep acting like this then this game will turn into a NERF every class until they are all slow and tedious and then you will all whine because they nerfed classes you play the most to better balance out with the other classes that got a nerf.

Again each class is very good at doing certain things for instance Elemental own in World vs World while thief pretty much dominate in 1v1. I don’t think any class needs a nerf I think we could all do with a buff in the right places.

Thief is very easy to just spam those two moves for PvE but as soon as you get into anything PvP 1 2 knockout combo goes out the window and you really need to start planning your attacks and using your utility’s wisely to prep for the next combo run.

This is not as easy as it sounds mind you, The walls are collision data with the models themselves ideally not a single model that has a gap that can be walked into should have a cube bounding box and collision mesh but sadly they do and they do because its a lot cheaper on resources, mesh based collision boxes are more taxing and are often only used on important meshes for the game and breakable models.

Also removing the invisible barrier as far as exploration goes can and will open up a lot of exploitable areas.

As much as I really would love this to come true as much as you guys do it really would not be practical because the game was not designed with this in mind. I think that partially an issue here is that Anet may have under estimated how long it would take people to go through the content, I think they may have been expecting people to play slower and take it in more when the reality is that most of the players are going to have traditional mmo mentalities and will rush to get the max level asap and like most mmo’s the content really is not there for end game until some months after initial launch.

I think this is great for prospecting tradesmen who can hold on to their wallets for a little longer than others. because when the prices drop to an all time low you buy a portion of the market and sell high at a time when it would look like they are about to inflate again.

Imposing more restrictions than there already are on the way we trade loot and get loot would hamper the economy even more. If you really have issue with this then don’t sell you stuff for pathetic prices and instead hold on to it if its valuable for when the market for such item is more lucrative your really only complaining about the fact that doing 1c difference causes rapid deflation which is true but that is actually a good thing depending on how you look at as mentioned above.

If your serious about getting value for your item then hold onto it wait and eventually there will be a cooling point in that market for you to sell the item for profit or overprice the item and still sell it.

I can totally understand why 1c deflation would be annoying if your wanting to sell your item immediately or within 48 hours but there really is nothing can be done to stop this as the system puts the lowest price on display and that is just how all economy works the only thing you can do and suggest others do is to have more respect and be good tradesmen or hold your really valued goods for times when that market is fluctuating less.

I’m sure they could care less since they already have my money, but you can bekittensure that I’m not going to invest anymore of my time into something that just wipes out my money like I buying IPO Facebook stock.

I don’t know whats worse the fact that a 680GTX overclocked model barely gets above 70 frames per second average when it should be at 80 or more no matter what.

Or the fact that you guys need to rely on SLI to get even close to 60 constant no matter what.

That says a lot of negative things about the engine performance of this game.

Your wrong, the majority of our complaints with dungeons being hard is mostly based on the sheer fact that the rewards don’t favor those who try and do it well over just zerg rushing. If there are no rewards for high tier content who is going to give a kitten seriously.

I understand you 100% because I felt exactly the same way during my 8 years of WoW when people would quit after one wipe instead of push on to learn to play better.

But its not fun if the mechanics of the fight favor kite and spank and have nothing else going for them combined with kitten loot which you can easily do better coin wise and gear wise from doing zerg rush world boss fights which now thanks Anet nerfing already crappy dungeon rewards and removing a path in a certain dungeon actually is more efficient for your time as a player because the world loot cap is higher than the dungeon cap limit. By the time the world boss comes back the farming cap has reset for you and you can just repeat it every time the boss is up. Do a dungeon a couple runs and that’s your day over. You just wasted a good 2 hours and got 1 copper 12silver in repair costs and some greens that don’t are not worth it because your already in exotics from the trading post.

I have no desire to run dungeons...anyone ells?

Your missing the point of the complaints, People are complaining about the dungeons nerf because ANet have now completely made them useless before we ran them for loot and the small coin they gave us, now they give us nothing of value at all your will get much better rewards for zerging a world boss than doing any dungeon.

This thanks to the dungeon loot cap they put in place last patch.

The second reason we all hate dungeons and just want to get in and out is because they suck and are not fun we only do them for the achievement or the tokens and we don’t want to stay in there any longer than we have too that is just the nature of a dungeon run that is boring and not fun or it has been done to death.

And no buffing boss HP does not count as making the content better or last longer it just pisses everybody off. Dungeons should have tactics and unique mechanics which they currently don’t at all every boss I have seen is the same thing its just a Zerg rush to down it while dieing as little as possible. Forget Skill and playing smart the way dungeons are setup as this very moment there is no benefit from being a good player its far more effective to for you and your team to just rush it zerg the whole thing leave and repeat until the loot cap kicks in and then we all log off and go to bed because at this point its senseless even going back in.

The Main reason is we just want zerg and get out is because the mechanics of the fights are kitten and for content that is meant to be the BEES KNEES that keeps PvE alive it does not even accurately reward our trouble doing them at best we break even on repair costs and get a lousy token trust me I only saw one and if that’s a level 40 instance then I am not interested in the rest I have seen much better instances in other mmo’ this is probably the worst of the mmo games I have played when it comes to end game content.

Which is hardly surprising seeing during the beta they tried very hard to limit where you could go and what you could do and hide all the high tier content for a game boasting claims such as they do currently that only told me one thing and that was that they probably ran out of time to do endgame and instead give is stupid filler crap until an expansion re invents all the stuff they had to rush to meet release dates.

I think you will find most of us here will tell you the same thing.

Same message over and over and that suck because its hurting our LFG and Guild recruit messages, spam has run rampant and there is nothing stopping it reporting is a complete waste of time for anything because for which ever accounts get banned today 3 more will be stolen tomorrow you need to hit them in the heart of their business which is to find which loops they are using and close them so they can no longer do business in the ways they are currently doing them it is an endless fight but every MMO must do it or fail.

Not sure I just logged off spent the day doing personal story missions.

I doubt it is increased much if at all after all the company wants to force us into buying gems to get gold which only says one thing about the companies true direction it took with micro transactions. You cannot really argue that one to bed because its basically in plain sight and if your not willing to accept that they only want your money than your just going to have to hate my post and stay ignorant to how most of the worlds economy works not just this single company.

Well played. I’m OK with things taking time, but when you can actively see them expanding on that ammount of time it’s aggravating. I got a full time job and a partimer, I don’t have the time to farm for a few hours a day.

Then don’t farm for a few hours a day, why do you even need to? Because you want everything right now?

Have you ever tried not to be a mindless fanboy? They promised a game without gruelling grinds. Now, when it’s released, we find out the endgame is even grindier than in other MMOs. Then, when people find ways to elude the grind or make it easier, they nerf them. Why? As the OP pointed out, they’re trying to coerce you into spending money on gems (perhaps more money per month than you would have paid for a subscription). I would rather have paid 13 euros per month than have the game become this pile of dung designed to make you use the shop.

Fine transmutation stones used to be available for karma. Now, you hardly ever get them in the world, so store’s the way to go.

Repairs were something they weren’t even considering a year or two ago, yet here they are.

Traits were promised not to have a respec cost, yet here it is.

They claimed mounts weren’t needed because we had waypoints. Yet who would’ve known they would cost so much?

Because of the store, certain areas of the game are worse than even Guild Wars 1 (travel was free there, there was no armor damage).

No matter how much perfume you put on a pile of dung it will still stink. Despite the viral marketing, despite the crappy trailer that tells us about how they are innovating the genre, some people can still see that the endgame was designed to be a korean grind (a la NcSoft), designed to encourage you to use the store.

^THAT is exactly what I am calling them out on. It s HUGE Problem that everyone knows about in the back of their heads but they are too concerned with punishment to actually bring it up. We, as the consumers shouldn’t have to be scared of repercussions for voicing our opinion. After all we did pay for a product based on the message of “NO MORE GRIND”

^ this while I find the game fun still I fear that when I have a level 80 I will just pack up and play something else because even at 40 the dungeons suck the loot sucks and everything is so expensive I don’t want to buy it and the Gem store just reminds me of Diablo and that is not a good thing. If they want to do something to trade for real money make it more like EvE where you pay your sub with in game money or real money and you can buy an in game item with real money that is used to pay for your sub or be sold for a nice sum in game currency.

That was just an example because anything is better than that rigged gem store which idiots still use religiously. I really hope they read this because it something every single one of us feared would be the case during betas when they refused to show of any end content much less how short the beta event was. The only thing keeping me enjoying it right now is the fact that I have not done everything once and that the content is still new because I am really slow at leveling been 2 weeks I am level 40, because I just casually get too things when I feel like it. The pvp is fun though but even that is getting old really fast because there is nothing interesting like in the beta events all we have for PvP now is capture points and 2 weeks of one server dominating the entire 3 maps in WvWvW.

I found this video and at 24:47 in they start discussing event system and what so many people including myself were missing and they moved onto other key parts of the game which open my eyes a little more and maybe yours too. I agree with your friend about dungeons, I have only played one and it was AC very hard imo. I would say it was not balanced at all and the loot was trash for that difficultly, I did not feel rewarded for doing anything in dungeons.

I played WoW for 8 years I also played SWTOR and DC Universe. From my experience particularly in WoW GW2 has nothing compared to the scale or the fun that that game had for dungeons.

Dungeons in WoW I feel are not only much better balanced but it does take using your ability’s seriously to actually progress and finish the dungeon as well as discovering the bosses rotations and mechanics of each phase.

I think partially because of the holy trinity side of things that made WoW work very well for dungeon mechanics, which I never really disliked. The part I disliked about WoW now days is how it’s still all rotation based mashing of skills and not based solely on your position, awareness and timing for the combat as well as the liner questing which I fund dull. A side from those Key elements the holy trinity based classes lend themselves very well for better dungeon mechanics as every class has a role and is required to do something important that is relevant to the successful completion of the dungeon. WoW Still has moments of timing and positioning but it’s not like in GW2 combat where it is your ability to notice what is going on around you and the little details about the fights.

Let me just be clear that I am not trashing this game aside from some of the other minor annoyances that I hope are improved over time this game blows WoW completely away it gave someone like me who was literally refusing to play MMO’s until something non template design " or Same old Same old different universe" came along that made me care about questing and actually want to run around and level up and enjoy that process. It’s not a perfect system as we all need to remember that this game is doing something that is not very well explored yet for this industry genre but it’s a good step towards the traditional mmo style being something that is no longer accepted by the gaming community as a unique title worth paying for.

Also Sub based games are slowly starting to die in fact I would probably be correct in saying that SWTOR and WoW are the last of the SUB breed of mmo, and I think many others would also agree, as much as I dislike the micro transaction model because of the foul taste that pay to win has left all over my tongue it is inevitably the way WoW and SWTOR will end up going once the sub numbers fall below a certain threshold to support the companies who have backed the title long term. Back on topic the dynamic world bosses are much more rewarding and fun while still a pretty much zerg rush they at least reward me for trying harder than others and give me decent loot.

If dungeons in this game are to be praised we are going to need to start seeing content that has more depth in the instances, something along the lines of you start out doing an event that is similar to the heart missions but this event leads you through the dungeon where you eventually find a boss or a couple bosses along the way which all have certain weakness’s and certain ways of fighting them that will work a lot better than other ways, for example a boss that could be immune to most magic relying on melee for instance or your classes melee ability to effectively take down will work best during phase 1 but then phase 2 kicks in and this boss has learned what ability’s and combos you are using on it and tries to mix its style up to make it harder for you to keep using the same rotations and style of play forcing you to find cover and dodge its attacks more often as the fight progresses.

I think ArenaNet would need to tread very carefully while setting these types of boss fights up because what I don’t want to see in this game is a set in stone method for taking the boss down and every other method fails.

I would like the boss to be slightly dynamic like learn to avoid the ability’s that your group is using most often against it requiring you and your group to try new things and new combo’s and mix up the fight frequently to actually defeat the boss while still keeping an identifiable pattern of things to that you can time to for attacks and dodge, while at the same time making use of the environment for cover and things like that.

A good example would be if the boss started out as a land based spank that quickly phased into water based duck in and out of cover while avoiding the boss that picks players at random to target for a set amount of time and then targets another player making the whole thing dynamic.

If you got the end of this congratulations I know it was a bit of an essay but I feel its summarizes best what the OP is wondering as well as a few other things I had to get off my chest about the system currently in place they call dungeons.

I think there has to be exotics guarantee drop in dungeons I do not even see the point going into the dungeon in the first place If I have the same chance of getting something I want from PvP or WvW or random drop.

So far I find PvE to be under par with every other MMO the mechanics are great the loot and all of that side of things not so great.

Add a “Cash on Delivery/ COD” option for mail send this essentially means that you can add a collection price to for what you send that the receiver must pay in order to collect the items if they do not pay it within some time frame the items are sent back.

Really is no better way to add a safe alternative trade except for actually standing at the player and trading which would annoy the hell out me. Though I can’t speak for the rest of you on that regard.

I like your way of thinking, but this is just too complex. All we can do is wait until ANet implements a bot detector similar to what WoW has. In WoW there is next to no goldspam (although I play EU WoW) because they have a bot detector thingy, some sort of ‘warden’ thing which autodetects any bots and destroys them, show no mercy!

“Warden” Is WoWs anti cheating software which was worked on a lot and continually gets better. Though that is about as far as I will agree with your statements.

I saw so much spam in wow it become impossible to really talk at all in any major faction city, It was such a problem in fact that WoW actually implemented the measures I discuss here and the the ways the plugins did it directly into warden sometime after the success of the plugins.

I know this because like I said I played that game for 8 years solid and I saw the whole thing go down around the mid way point of lich king expansion.

I also need to point out this method is extremely simple its so simple to implement in fact that given a chance to mod this game I would write it myself and distribute it. You see this can be as simple or as complex as you want depending on how much effort and time your willing to behind the foundations of the product.

To get a solution like this up and running in its simplest form which can be expanded on later but used just to shut them up for a while would take at the most a weekend for experienced developers to code its only an additional low footprint check on keywords that pass through the chat . They do not even need to give us a interface for it to make this function.

I would very much like to have some sort of limited plugin making ability in future sure limited to the fact its for interface improvement only and really only used to display information better. I don’t see it happening but one can dream right?

If I may jump back to your WoW post for a second the bot detector is also a completely separate module integrated into warden which was actually one of the first things they did.

Furthermore a bot detector in Guild Wars 2 will prevent no such spam they already have a anti spam botting system its the same thing that prevents from spamming my guild recruit message and keeping it the same every 60s in chat. However stopping actual bots will not fix this because you don’t need any program to spam chat all you need to do is stand where u want and setup a macro on your PC and loop it.

The system they have in place already can easily deal with that. Also creating an anti bot program is much much more complex than this solution ever will be even if they give us the control over keywords and trigger rates.

I think a report button in mail box and chat would do the trick like others said. After enough reports perma ban them and they have to buy a new game. They wont make enough money each time to afford a new game each ban.
Filters are never the answer which is why they dont have one already its just pointless. The power needs to be with players like a report system. Now maybe an AI system that learns patterns and scans everything could work but its not practical from a time point of view.

They already have a report button in mail and in game for spammers and you have seen how not effective that is at keeping them away. There will never be any auto ban system for spam so forget that idea, I have made that idea invalid over a number or ways and in a number of posts already. Until someone can completely validate why that is a better solution and completely flaw this one I’m not buying it as reasonable option.

We don’t need any AI system that learns anything all we need is a simple set of rules that can be flagged if used in the chat a certain unwanted way, Its all of a days work to make a very simple prevention keyword system.

Also you do you think these spammers buy the game, maybe some of them do but I can guarantee that most of them steal the accounts and use them for exploiting and spamming, They also steal the accounts to take the gold from them to sell its actually one of the highest reasons accounts are attacked in the first place.

The rest of them probably sell gold in many mmo games where there are free trials which cost them nothing to actually spam in and they use the money they make which could be a fair amount since I know they make a bit of money and would likely just buy an account for GW2 again as needed.

You do know its like 3 clicks away to report someone in chat and 2 clicks for mailbox ?

No validation again, you have not explained to me how WoW is a bad example from what I can see WoW has been the go too example for almost every single mmo game-play format up until now which it lended most of its ideas from earlier generations of mmo WoW is just arguably the mmo that got the best blend for its time which is why it was so successful.

Also what makes you think I am not aware of the report functions available and that its all tied to accounts? I am arguing and might I add with quite detail, why reporting simply is not an end all solution and is not very effective if it was working then these same sellers would not be returning on other accounts to post the same messages. My method does not allow them to use any account to post any such spam content this is far superior to reporting them for doing so.

Might I add that I mention a very specific observed part of the WoW community I need not remind you that WoW is gameplay is very much based on farming the same mobs over and over to get what you want this actually makes it a much bigger target for gold sellers as everything is inflated more due to much higher demand, This system I am talking about works in WoW and they spam a lot more in that game, there is also a much bigger player base which makes it a bigger target for the sellers.

None of this changes the fact that the solution works just as well it can given the fact that after the people started used said anti spam addons that used methods such as this that sellers all resorted to hacking methods that exploited the game mechanics " not create new mechanics" too form picture art using in game assets such as emotions and certain ways of syncing multiple accounts to perform an action so that they could form letters which in tern formed website addresses. They also used hacking methods to float in the air and things like that.

Which I will agree that this method cannot prevent only anti cheating will prevent that which another issue on its own and also sellers can and will do this in this game regardless once a hacking program is made that bypasses mechanics of the game physics. That kind of of stuff is much better suited to reporting than trying to prevent which is where I will agree with your method.

Edit: Define “Exploits Gold” for me please, I am not sure if your asking for seller accounts or people who exploit the gold system in general which is not a great deal considering the overall size of the subscriber base per server but I cannot give exact figures on either. How ever I can tell you I played the game for a solid 8-9 years and the spam only really was controllable by and might I add the players had the power on how much too block because the game supported third party addons so the players made there own third party keyword system that became very popular which I have said in a previous post of mine allows the players to control exactly what was filtered and the formatting checks it did right down to how accurate it should be.

Here I can further validate this by showing you actually what I am talking about and have seen first hand in the game WoW.

If spam hits the filter system, then prevention has already failed, leave the prevention to account security, like secret questions, IP addresses etc, or type in a character name which was used in guild wars.

I say unite and act against unwanted spam, a spammer could pull out 6000 accounts but once they’re all muted, peace and quiet. Not forgetting that’s a lot of accounts to be banned.

Actually all chat will pass the filter system and be prevented before its displayed saving packet data to the client as well as interaction being required, also its universal not tied to any account so it would not matter how many accounts the spammers use it will be blocked before the intended audience sees it it serves as both a barrier and a re occurrence prevention system as the sellers would be less likely to target the mmo as frequently knowing how much effort and continual effort they would need to go through to actually efficiently broadcast a message a lot of the smaller time spammers would probably drop out of bothering to try which is exactly what we want, also at the same time it could submit its own report because the filter flagged it as spam and can be investigated if needed but investigation would not be a mandatory requirement to actually prevent future occurrence of visible spam from the seller.

Your accusation of this type of system being a prevention failure is completely invalid for reasons stated above and reasons stated in my other posts about the core functionality of the process.

Also you are using the word prevention out of context, going by your accusation a computer or dedicated hardware based firewall has failed to block the data flow simply because the data has hit the firewall.

That is entirely incorrect of course it is in fact the complete opposite, the mere fact in relation to this thread if spam hit the filter than filter is doing something right as it has detected the content to be possible spam and is phrasing it through the filter rules and if it is doing this than objective is achieved.

Your ideology is only going to encourage the spammers to steal more accounts because the others have been banned it is not preventing anything nor is it actually stopping future occurrences from the same spammer group. Yes they could pull 6000 accounts and have them muted but then what will happen, My guess is that they will try to scam accounts more frequently to pull another 6000 accounts and the process repeats.

I really do not see why you continue to fight against this solution especially when your not even giving any solid reasoning to backup why your solution is better. I have at least to my knowledge invalidated your method in numerous ways now. I have also clarified and given counter validation in numerous scenarios to help my claim.

Please understand that while I respect that you disagree I feel it is just not only incorrect but it is also comes with unwanted side effects that out weigh my solutions side effects.

Some these side effects I have not 100% brought to light but only because they are minor in the big scope of things, such as they continue to try harder using the accounts they already have which slows the account theft rate substantially but as I have already said we can modify the system to counter anything new they throw at us that is done via any kind of chat mechanics in game and as far as I am aware the mechanics of the game so far do not allow exploitable emotes or animations that could display a message using game assets.

A filter system won’t work, gold spammers just annoy players by using x = y+z translating to com some how.

Personally I think there should be a seperate gold spam report button feature attached to chat and mailbox, and a new dynamic and innovating system to support such a feature.

If an account picks up “x” amount of reports, then that account should be muted, unable to communicate with others via chat or mailbox while pending investigation.

You mean like Ascii methods these are blockable as well by blocking multi-line text that is made up primarily of single repeated letters and symbols spaced or apart.

Any filter method will be pointless if they find a way round it, and they would. You could remove chat and mailbox and some how they would find a method.

I say give the some limited power to the players, if an account is gold spamming, then players should report, and after x amount of reports that account should be muted and not heard from until arenanet investigates what is going on.

On that type of system I could port to lion’s arch and not see gold spam, because the spammer spamming gold spam has been reported 100 times already and is muted. Not forgetting on that type of system the more players the gold spammer effects, the more reports the spammer will get.

Ok but investigation is useless they will just return with another account like they already do, secondly reporting slows down the report que process the more times you report a player the longer the time it takes to actually sort the reports out.

I have seen many forms of spam I have literally seen probably every single type of possible mmo spam you can think of, the only guaranteed way to bypass this system is to use physical objects in the world to spell out your spam content. I get where you coming from and I reworded my post as you replied I assume because your quote is missing my edits.

I agree to give some power to the players but any method that requires formal investigation from the support staff is a bad protection method as its not preventing anything its only dealing with the offenders not silencing them before they can spam.

Your solution is to have players go out their way to formally lodge an investigation ticket against a player knowing full well the spammer would have already spammed his messages for at least 30mins prior to actually being muted because not everyone is going to bother to report they are more likely to just mute him for themselves and by the time the instance sees 100 or more people he would have moved on already and switched characters or created a new one.

Any solution that requires interaction is a broken solution when it comes to administration of a widespread and re occurring issue every developer knows that. I can guarantee that my solution will prevent up to 90% of the spam that is text based it can be simple text, ascii style art, spaced out letters anything at all that can be sent with text can be prevented.

My solution is not new it is tried and tested and proven to work in games such as WoW where spam was a MAJOR issue until we made an addon to analyze the patterns in the text and block the chat from sight it could even auto report.

Of course if you wanted to block spaced out text like “w w w . s o m e t h i ng – g o l d . c o m” you would need to do a little more than simple key phrase checks you would need to do paragraph wild card formatting checks these are also pretty low resource cost and easily modified.

If there are logical ways to bypass the system then there are equally effective ways to detect it there is only so much you can do with the chat system before you hit intended limitations. Not to mention this is a temporary concept to alleviate the bulk of common spam. There is no method to post pictures into the chat so you can rule out image spam, and as I have said already you can already easily make an algorithm to detect ascii picture art type spam.

It would also be possible to detect character names that do not form any real words such as “dffklq” but that goes beyond my solution.

If your going to continue to try and argue your point can you at least validate why my solution is invalid, this validation would need to include a a summery of methods that this would not effect that are text based and also where you see the flaws of this method and how they could be exploited.

Simply saying " This wont work, This method is better, your method they can find a workaround" does not justify anything and just borderlines repeating your argument against mine.

A filter system won’t work, gold spammers just annoy players by using x = y+z translating to com some how.

Personally I think there should be a seperate gold spam report button feature attached to chat and mailbox, and a new dynamic and innovating system to support such a feature.

If an account picks up “x” amount of reports, then that account should be muted, unable to communicate with others via chat or mailbox while pending investigation.

You mean like Ascii methods these are blockable as well by blocking multi-line text that is made up primarily of single repeated letters and symbols spaced or apart.

In regards to your reporting function this is abusable if intended to gang up on a particular person, I don’t know how many reports would be needed to pass this action but players could report anyone and mute them for the duration of investigation if they choose to rally up and troll someone. While I support the notion that a report option be present the mute function imo would need very specific set of rules to pass in order to mute.

Maybe a combined keyword check or if the player has continuously triggered the regular spam prevention system before the mute notion would take effect.
