The Zerg commander shouted = “Stick close to the tag !!! Or you will get ganked by those f*ing annoying gankers”
The Zerg commander = “It’s your fault if you get ganked ! Stick close to my behind or you are going to get ganked!”
The Zerg commander rages harder = “Blah , Blah , BLAH !!!” “Blah , Blah , BLAH !!!” “Blah , Blah , BLAH !!!” “BLAH , BLAH , BLAH !!!!!!!!” “BLAH , BLAH , BLAH !!!!!!!!” “Uninstall this game!!!!!! Now!!!!!!!!!!”
The Zerg commander = “Blah , Blah , BLAH !!!” “Blah , Blah , BLAH !!!” “Blah , Blah , BLAH !!!” “BLAH , BLAH , BLAH !!!!!!!!” “BLAH , BLAH , BLAH !!!!!!!!” “It’s your fault for gettting ganked!! Stick close to my behind or you are going to get ganked!!” “Understood?!!!!”
So you’re the one spying in our TeamSpeak! To be honest this is exactly what it sounds like most of the time. We do have a few commanders who play well with others and lead patiently and effectively. But too many just scream insults and scream in that ridiculous unintelligible fast slur where everything is repeated 3 times like it’s one word.
If you’ve ever knocked a player off a cliff to their doom and snickered while voice chat erupts in laughter you will be against gliding.
daoc is the perfect example, it was the best rvr game but after they got their hands on warhammer ip they gave up on it. U can only play the same crap over and over everyday for so long, eventually ppl will move to another game.
DAoC technology really didn’t age well. I returned to it for a free week some time ago and it was shockingly primitive. In its heyday I was one of the UI mod developers. As a player I lived for RvR. Keeping my characters on the Herald leaderboards was the chase. I played DAoC from the first month until shortly after WoW came out. I ran with another player as either stealth/stealth or fighter/healer duo.
To be fair, DAoC RvR magic started to fade before Warhammer and WoW. Superweapons from Trials of Atlantis unbalanced RvR fights. The addictive stealth-wars and choke-point skirmishes were nerfed by teleporting. While that made the game more casual-friendly it also exposed more players to the true bane of the Frontier —- radar hackers. Players destroying the game from the inside. The devs got very good at catching them and a lot of forum-famous players got caught. By then new games such as WoW were exposing the game’s dated mechanics and it was over.
I think GW2 does a pretty good job with the RvR concept. I wish they’d come up with something like Darkness Falls dungeon to make it all worthwhile. That place was a hoot.
Nevermind, I took a wrong turn at Albuquerque and was in Harathi Hinterlands by mistake.

Brisban Wildlands isn’t counting toward the daily for Maguuma Jungle Lumberer.
I have the best armour and stats at the moment, and i’m happy with everything. But I just sat back in horror as I watched a level 15 icebrood elemental in a low-level region remove half my health in a few seconds.
If they ever decide to make a gw3 I hope they get rid of that stupid scaling system, because it really makes the game look like child’s play.
In my opinion this is the BEST feature of the game by far. One of the things I like to do is travel without using portals just to fight my way across zones.
I can only speak for myself. I’m a casual player in GW2 (although not so in other MMOs). I like cosmetic items and I like exploring. I like playing a lot of alts. I like doing “stuff” around other players. I like achievements. I don’t like chasing gear-scores. Making more classes, more cosmetic items, more achievements, and more zones to explore makes me throw money. Since GW2 fits my play style like a glove I can only assume I must be one of the masses.
But I am a power gamer in other MMOs. I can easily consume content faster than the game produces it and faster than their business model supports But I’m a silent power gamer. When I’ve reached my cap I play another game and return when (if) the game pushes into an area I’m interested in.
I’m sure a lot of players used their 80 level-up on a Thief. I know I did. I’d like to play one but don’t want to level one. There’ll probably be a bunch of players experimenting with them for a while.
My human ranger, Acadia Le Corbeau. I was using glowy weapons and dark colors until I ran into a player with a very simple woodland wardrobe and a wolf. I liked it so much I changed mine to a similar style.

I remember a forest game where a daredevil kept stealing beasts and harassing far diverting attention away from mid (I was druid) and even though I could only see the match from my PoV I knew he was the real MVP even though I had top score (Mender’s and search and rescue tends to rack up both big damage, healing, and rezzing numbers) the daredevil was simply awesome.
That’s why I think “meta” builds are a misnomer in GW2. There are “meta” players who can see the game-inside-the-game and use unique builds to do unique things. But calling a build “meta” is nonsense in my opinion.
I’m not a “meta” player in GW2. A “meta” build in my hands is like asking me to play Guitar Hero with a real guitar. The most effective I can be in GW2 is using a straight-up “For Dummies” build that can go Gronk-mode without having to do GW2-calculus.
I do have “meta” skills in other games so I get the concept. I have whacked out builds that shun conventional game-wisdom but are extremely effective for me. Very specialized at doing “meta” things that enable my team to win by playing the game-inside-the-game.
I appreciate that you could see what the Daredevil was doing regardless of what the number-generators were showing on the scoreboard. That’s literally very meta!
I have two level 80 warriors (different races), I do enjoy the class. They have a lot of utility for solo exploring, doing Living Story, events, etc. If you just want to run around doing stuff they do the trick. But I can tell they’re currently kind of weak at the more end game pursuits in the game.
That’s the reason I have two warriors. After I got my first one to level 80 and geared I sort of ran out of things to do. So I made another one with a different race and gender and started over with a different story line.
Oh she didn’t make it that easy, I’m still hearing about how expensive it was and what she could have gotten with the same money (over $300). The bad part is my fingers are still getting used to the new layout, I have no muscle-memory for it so I’m fumbling around a lot. I’m resisting the strong urge to attach my old keyboard/mouse (Corsair K70 and Logitech G400S) because she will never let me hear the end of it.
For Christmas my wife got me a Logitech G910 mechanical-switch keyboard and Logitech G502 mechanical-switch mouse. These devices are supposed to be able to do really fancy stuff in the macro department and have a bunch of buttons to do them. But to be on the safe side in games I have them mapped to do just single-keys. Just because your device can do fancy stuff doesn’t mean it’s a good idea, especially if it puts your account at risk.
FINALLY!!!! Im having EXTREME lag too!! Im actually in texas. I thought it was just me. Ive been having awful terrible time with this crap!!. I contacted ANet, but they said it was packet loss. Its just this game! I have other computers on the network that run just fine though, which is the really weird part
I have: reset router physically and through my browser, tried different plugs, different cords, tried wireless USB adapters, re installed the game twice, reinstalled windows twice, contacted my ISP (at&t uverse), ran speedtests, updated all my drivers meticulously.
Syviren.7086, I’m also in Texas with AT&T U-verse and having the same problem for days. My Internet seems to work fine for everything else.
When I run a pathping to GW2 it also doesn’t go past gar26.dlstx.ip.att.net [12.123.16.109]. So whatever is happening with you is happening with me.
(edited by LeCreaux.3087)
What about in Texas? I’m still getting rubber-band gameplay over AT&T U-verse.
I’m getting the same problem starting today in NA from Texas. My network is fine, full speed, restarted the router and computer. But GW2 is unplayable.
FPS is fine, but the game is rubberbanding everywhere, trading post is unresponsive, even making wardrobe changes takes 5-10 seconds.
…I’d ask that you please not report this thread if the conversation is appropriate and within the Forums Code of Conduct…Please do not report and try to pilot the thread in your desired direction…
I’d like to add an engineer to my stable of characters so I’ve read this whole thread with interest. I can clearly see the case for different specs within the realm of WvW, depending on the goal of the player. I can filter for myself which argument applies to me.
But its also a good example of why the forum needs its ignore/block feature fixed. Having that feature working could prevent users from trying to squelch each other with reports.
I just bought all the *-R-TRON gathering tools, but whenever they say anything their speech bubbles obscure their animations.
I tried turning off in-game chat bubbles but it doesn’t turn off the TRON bubbles. I don’t mind the speech bubbles, but at 1000 gems each I’d like to see their animations.
I don’t like them either. I haven’t finished dailies since the change. I’m on my latest alt and the new dailies seem to be targeted at max level characters. Used to be able to do them on whatever level character in whatever zone (gathering, dodging, interrupting, leveling, etc). Now I can maybe get one done on a low level alt.
Once you get the whole thing downloaded I recommend making a backup so you never have to download that monster again. The files are so large you can’t just copy it to a USB drive, you have to store it using something like WinRAR (stores it in 4GB parts).
If you replace your computer or your spouse or kids start playing on another computer it’s a lot easier to just extract the game in a few minutes than to download over 20 GB again.
Had a co-worker, nice guy, thought he was being harassed by the police because he kept getting pulled over. Didn’t make sense until we rode with him. He tailgated, sped, never signaled, never yielded, rolled through stop signs. Scared all of us when he’d be the 3rd car through a red light at full speed. If he was driving he was getting in trouble. Nothing we could do to help him. Hopefully he finally read that driver’s handbook before he went broke.
Have a suburban neighbor who thinks the HOA is out to get him because he keeps getting tickets. A photo of his property would explain everything. Every time he walks out his front door a deed restriction is about to happen. Hopefully he’ll finally read the HOA Deed Restrictions before he goes broke.
Just saying, if you’re getting flagged for discipline no matter what you’re doing then you might want to read (or reread) the ToS before you have to buy another game key and start over.
Sometimes it works for me one time, then every search after that is 0 results.
Didn’t these forums used to have a ignore/block feature?
While the moderators do a good job of eventually deleting inappropriate posts and threads, I’d like to be able to just mute the repeat offenders at my end if possible.
The only power players have over each other is to give or withhold cooperation. If a player is trying to farm something then that player should probably use some effective persuasion skills or keep moving away from other players.
There’s daily quests to kill ambients. On those days it’s difficult to find a good ambient killing spot. In fact, there’s achievements to kill 1000 of pretty much every kind of mob. When I get within 100 or so kills of an achievement I’ll find a nice camp and finish off the achievements. That doesn’t give me the right to bully other players out of the area without getting in trouble with ArenaNet.
It’s about 28 gold to buy the 200 gems per missing story. That’s a little bit of work, but worth it. I spent over $100 on the halloween stuff and didn’t want spend any more for the storylines so I’ve been farming gold for the storylines.
When I started playing again a week or so ago I had the same thing, even though I have two characters with 100% complete.
They’ve added some stuff. I found them using the New Player Experience (NPE) pointer. You can turn it into an exploration pointer by turning off events and storyline. Then visit each zone and see if the pointer is pointing at anything. Even if they’re showing 100%, the NPE pointer will find the missing things.
…majority are rude, selfish ill mannered player base. Glad I decided to swap up.
For me that’s something GW2 should hang its hat on, willingness to enforce their posted community standards. I’ve played a lot of MMOs and usually don’t get even close to tired of the games…I get tired of the rude players. There’s quite a few MMOs I’d still be playing today if the developers even faked like they were enforcing their own posted community standards.

Hey Empathy! Thanks for getting my attention via the forums!
Actually, your account was never suppose to have been unbanned. Looks like this was a slipup that I’ll rectify right now. Your main account and 8 other accounts have been banned/rebanned.
Your other accounts were banned for botting (and selling gold), and your main account was banned because you mailed gold from your bots to it.
Feel free to contact Customer Support again if you have any questions.
These responses make my day. If you’re not a fellow Texan, I nominate you for Honorary Texan.
Some commanders will deliberately kill players who are not in voice communications, and everyone who is will laugh about it.
That’s the kind of thing that goes on in every MMO. I play a lot of MMOs and usually in the high end PvP, I’ve never understood why some players are hostile to even friendlies and devs. In this game some of those players buy tags. Anybody can drive a zerg around, but I drop out when I see a “commander” do something like that. I served on active duty for three decades, lost count of the operations, and that’s no commander I’d listen to.
Here’s what I’d do if I only wanted voice chat in my group…I’d say so. Then I’d warn players that they’re likely to get left and die if they’re not on chat. But running them into the enemy and then teleporting is over the line.
Doesn’t matter if you’re level 80 or not, there’s rude players in WvW. I had a player initiate a whisper conversation with me just tonight about joining his WvW guild. When I told him it depended on whether his guild is friendly and cooperative he started insulting me for caring about that in WvW. Of course I care about that in all parts of the game. At least he answered the question, whether he intended to or not. Blocked and reported.
I do consider population when I choose a game to try…but only to try out a game. If I don’t like the game or if the player behavior is toxic inside the game then I drop it (eventually). There’s very few games I’ve stopped playing because I no longer liked the game. Usually player behavior degenerated to the point I could no longer lower my standards any further.
I bet in the industry this is a topic for consideration. There’s probably a deliberate decision made as to which group brings in more money, the toxic players or the civilized players, and where the line is going to be drawn.
The graphics and scenery still amaze me, I’ve spent more this month on gems than I ever have. Working on my 2nd level 80 warrior, this one an Asura, doing world exploration (again) using the NPE pointer.
There are certain aspects of every MMO that I simply will not participate in and forgo any rewards those give—with no regrets. Sometimes I really want those rewards, too. But it’s no different than in real life, you establish your boundaries.
I’ve got 100% complete on one character and working on getting it on a second character. While the PvE parts require dedication the WvW parts often require suicide missions to reach. Consider it an achievement to reach that vista and trigger it before you get dogpiled.
For the exploration parts of WvW I recommend using a spec built around speed and CC breaks. For the areas inside keeps you have to keep an eye on all four maps and go to the one where the goal is at least reachable.
Your character is anonymous to the enemy so you don’t lose any “cool points” in WvW. I don’t know about that “worthy” comment…I have a bunch of level 80s and I only have the little star next to one of them. At least I think it only shows up on the one with the achievement. Either way, I wouldn’t think it’s a big deal to many players.
I stopped playing for a year over the lack of a non-destructive wardrobe (and the loss of a valuable armor skin because of it). But I installed the game a few days ago and took it for another spin and I think the NPE stuff is great. I’ve spent $40 in gems in the last few days to get new skins and have been exploring like Magellan with that NPE pointer.
Yes indeed it is a very nice feature.
Yet there are lots of issues I already reported.
Like the pointer sometimes tells you to go far away while there is an uneplored area very close to you.Imarion
Yes, I experienced that yesterday. It was sending me all the way across the zone and ignoring things I could see right next to me. But in the end it got everything and I got a lot of gathering and events done I would have missed otherwise. Maybe there’s some kind of algorithm that does that on purpose.
I play other MMOs, but I rate GW2 as the most casual-friendly. I have a bunch of level 80s, some are duplicates of the same class but as a different race. I enjoy just playing the game and usually make it to level 80 long before reaching any level 80 zones. For me the wardrobe, the exploring, the graphics, and the stories are the main features, not really the gear carrots. Plus the fact that ArenaNet actually bans antisocial players is unique, it’s refreshing to see a MMO at least trying to keep their game from becoming a ghetto.
I started out playing humans, but now I have several level 80 Asuras. I think their animations and personalities are funny. I gear and play them in very non-serious ways, in stark contrast to my real life where I’m unreasonably tall and stern.

Thanks! Running this utility right now.
I think they’re probably making good money from players buying gems to customize their characters. That seems to be a core attraction to the game, I know it is to me. The new wardrobe system is very well done and entices players to buy transmutation charges. I’ve spent more on gems now than I ever have and don’t feel any remorse about it.
It’s a great improvement over their old system that destroyed items during the transmutation. Players were constantly losing valuable gear or valuable skins. The forums used to be full of upset players and white knights insulting them. But I’d like to think ArenaNet recognized their old system was costing them customers and that was the catalyst for developing the new (money making) system.

I reset my main router yesterday morning and didn’t experience the lag that day. Will see if that holds up today, I wish I had tested the game before doing that. My game wasn’t freezing…the NPCs were not responding. That does sound like a possible data lag.
I see a lot of players refer to “not being offended” in their posts. In issues like these I don’t think it’s an issue about being offended. If the company decides the names violate their rules then that’s just what it is. For example, we have an HOA in my community that enforces homeowner rules. A lot of the things they enforce don’t even register on the care-meter for most of us, but they’re in the contract so it is what it is. Every time the HOA fines a homeowner for something, that homeowner often complains to the other homeowners about it. But in the end, most of us choose to just comply with our contracts and not get the fines.
Question : Do you have you Windows also on the SSD or on a normal HDD ?
If Windows is on a HDD disable the power-features that parks your HDD after x-minutes
since this can cause lags whenever GW2 wants to access your user-directory when the
hdd is parked.I have Windows on a HDD. I checked and they were set to park when idle so I turned that off. No change in the game, however. When GW2 is running all four cores constantly hit 100%—which I’ve never seen in my other games. I run every game at max graphics full HD.
The processor is an Intel i5 4670K, 8 GB RAM, nVidia GTX 670 with 2 GB RAM. The OS is Windows 8.1 64-bit.
This tells me its something else, GW2 only has the power to make a 4760K hit 100% on all 4cores if your CPU is over heating and being throttled down to 1.3ghz or so.
Check thermals and clock speeds via Core temp/HwInfo.
Here’s two screencaps, one with GW2 running and my character standing still. The cores are all almost max at 3.4 GHz without even moving. The second screencap is as soon as I shut down GW2. All the cores drop to nearly nothing.

I’m also getting random freezes, rubber-banding, and disconnects. I’ve tried putting the game on both the SSD and the HDD but no change.
I just reinstalled GW2 on my new computer with an SSD, also a Samsung 840. I’m having freezing issues during game play. I play several other games from the SSD with no problems (Rift, Skyrim, etc.). NPCs randomly stop responding, although I can often keep moving. Sometimes they catch up and sometimes the client crashes.
I’m getting these also. Several seconds, sometimes it recovers and sometimes it disconnects. Getting lag spikes in PvE pretty much everywhere. I’m running the game on a solid state drive on a 64-bit Windows 8.1 system.
They refused to restore an irreplaceable event skin for me. They spent days researching whether it was their fault. It would have been cheaper and faster to just restore it. Would have cost less manpower and they’d still have a customer.
So you decided to necro a 4 day old thread to complain about this again. Perhaps non-customers should not be posting on a message board for customers, particularly a sub-forum that is specifically for customers with account issues.
Yes. They have a product to sell and I’m a consumer with money to give them. But it’s not automatic, they have to earn it. This how they find out how to earn it.
For now I’m giving their money to a competitor. But if ArenaNet addresses the item restoration issue I’ll consider giving them money. For now it’s too much of a risk.
