legendary sold to vendor, support can't help

I’ve never gained a Legendary item, nor do I intend to (too much play time required), but I can definitely sympathize with someone who’s gained and lost one by accident.
I think we all can accept that MMOs are infested with players trying to “game the system”, take advantage of and abuse others. We’ve all become jaded and defensive because of them. Surely we would not want a single one of them to get a free Legendary skin or whatever.
But in my opinion, if the player (customer) is honest and not abusive, special items like Legendary or unique event skins should be recoverable, regardless of how the item was lost. I’m sure these customers would wait the required time to get them back. These are players (customers) you’d WANT to keep. Why on earth would you risk losing committed and positive customers over something so easy to remedy.

The manpower rationale would make sense if they didn’t do so much work to determine if a bug caused the problem. In my case, they requested screencaps and timestamps, even reviewed their own logs. There was no conflict as to whether I did possess the missing item…only whether it was a bug that caused it to go missing.
In a game like this, which is like every other MMO, customer loyalty is what pays the bills. If an honest customer loses an item that has no value (other than to the customer) and costs nothing to replace, it would seem a very good business value to restore it. Doing so would make money from this customer in the future, refusing could lose money in the future.
I can understand refusing to replace a dropped ice cream cone to teach a child a lesson, but some of us are grandparents, business owners, and retirees. We know how to run a business and this issue contradicts business logic. Yes, weed out the dishonest players who are trying to score an item for free. But don’t lump the honest players in with them.

The bigger issue here is the great frustration to honest players for no apparent gain. Players spend considerable time and dedication to earn some of these items and skins, you could argue they’re the ONLY reason some people even play the game. Refusing to restore them when they’re lost due to some mechanic can literally end the desire to play their product. Conversely, restoring them likely increases commitment. Makes no business sense.

Yeah, they wouldn’t restore an irreplaceable skin for me also. I made a ticket within minutes of the transmute going wrong, but they said they’d only restore if it was a bug. Not a good way to treat otherwise satisfied customers. It’s too easy to mess up a transmute and there’s no undo. Mine was an event skin, I can only imagine how frustrating it would be for a legendary.
Like you, I recommended they address this for the future (maybe an “undo” button on transmuted items) to prevent frustrating customers. The response was basically “we’re still not going to restore the item”, so the recommendation went right over the head of whoever is doing the support tickets. I would think this is a common problem for honest players, and an “undo” button would thwart the dishonest ones.

Disrespect is returned with disrespect. Civility is a relative term. If ask a question and get disrespectful answers back, you had better believe they will get the same treatment.
That only works on crab boats and reality TV shows. Everywhere else it gets you fired or suspended from MMOs.
Reporting doesn’t get anybody suspended. It just asks ArenaNet to investigate. Why in the world would anybody get suspended for PvP at a PvP jumping puzzle.
WvW is tainted by too many player types trying to find their preferred game type in the wrong venue.
Casuals want the freedom to play leisurely.
Hardcores want to showcase their skill and be challenged.
Guilds want to structure open field skill battles.…
I do not begrudge players trying to find their own version of fun within the parameters of the game, but it seems silly to me that they show up at the hockey rink expecting to play golf and decide to complain about it.
The question is which group is in the wrong venue. All three groups can fit in WvW just fine. After all, what would a zerg want with a jumping puzzle? Towers are fun for a few players to fight over, but not so much for a WvW guild. Keeps are more their speed. Why are gathering nodes and PvE events everywhere? The complaining I see is from players who don’t (or won’t) accept that.
Zerg didn’t used to be the way. We all used to wander the maps in singles and small groups all the time. After all, in reality we’re all just strangers on the Internet.
But in other games the zerg worked so well that mega-guilds formed around it. It stifled those games as well, players hated it as well.
Unfortunately some of those guilds came to GW2 since day one. On certain servers it’s been the dominant style since the beginning, and all who play them regularly have to assimilate.
It’s not fun, but unless WvW design changes to make the zerg impractical it will probably spread where it can.
To all the commanders in Eternal Battlegrounds , why do you guys get so angry when people are trying to kill the champion grub or oak tree ? Just today , I saw a commander putting people down just for trying to kill the grub . Commanders needs to ease up in the game .
The commander tag is simply a way to organize players who WANT to be led, or can be INFLUENCED to be led. They don’t “command” anything. I report commanders who get abusive and so should everybody else.
Some people, either through training or natural ability, know how to influence people to follow their lead. Those without that ability do the things you’re describing.
You can elaborate and put screencaps in support tickets. I use tickets when the situation is not obvious. It’s worked well in my experience.
I have 100% on two characters, but both started showing 99%. It was the new POI in Divinity’s Reach, bottom right part of the city.
I think is totally wrong to not give info about who is doing it. You should definitely post here the Commander’s name, Guild names and Servers, even post the screencaps. If Anet can’t do anything about it(wich they could, if they have proof like the screencaps, everyone involved should get perma-ban) at least a lot of people get to know who are they.
You’re actually encouraging them to keep doing it by hiding they faces, if there’s no sort of punishment, there’s no problem on keep going. Its like arresting someone for robbery but instead of put him in jail you let him go, he will continue robbing tomorrow, cuz its ok. :/
Its against the CoC to call out individuals publicly so he would end up getting the thread closed. I asked him if he was still on a server to give an idea of what servers may have been involved and they can take care of it them selves.
Correct, I have no intention of doing a call out. Right now our WvW map chat is in shambles over this. The players cheating are cursing out the players telling them to stop. ArenaNet needs to get involved, they’re openly farming WvW talent points.
(edited by LeCreaux.3087)
Just wondering are you still on TC?
Fyi Thanks for not calling out the servers directly but with the ability to search past posts, it’s quite easy to narrow down whom you may be talking about. Assuming this is true…with out proof, your post is moot.
The ticket has the screencaps, that’s in ArenaNet’s lane now. My post is not a call-out, it’s a stand against the exploit. Hopefully other players recognize the plot when they see it and help control it instead of going along with it.
They will probably just claim that each was just setting up the other or keeping them on that map to so that the rest of the server can take all of EB, etc.
If you have an organized server community it’s best you take it up with them and get that commander “pariah” status.
Likewise, try to inform someone on the other server of this, if they are known to have any respectable guilds.
The screencaps are pretty clear about what they were doing. I stumbled upon them when I started running supplies to close the door to a keep. I got messages to stop. When I started killing enemies I got whispers to leave them alone. Then they explained the plot to get everybody to understand and cooperate. I screencapped it all and sent it in with a ticket.
My hope is to prevent this from getting widespread like some of the other exploits and it breaks the WvW skill point system and the matchmaking.
The Rules of Conduct forbid “match manipulation”. I know that currently refers to sPvP, but this affects the experience of other players and WvW matchmaking.
“…you will not participate in any form of match manipulation. Match manipulation is defined as any action taken to fix or manipulate the outcome of a match or alter or manipulate the rankings or ratings of the ladder. This also includes disrupting other people’s game experience by not actively participating in matches in good faith, a.k.a leeching.”
A lot of us enjoy WvW purely for the fun of it. From what I’ve seen so far, ArenaNet is pretty good about keeping the game clean.
(edited by LeCreaux.3087)
I reported two commanders for WvW win-trading today on my server to farm WvW ranks. This is not fun for those of us who enjoy WvW.
I’m not going to say which server, but I sent screencaps of them explaining the plot to other players in chat. Basically they were working with the other server over voice chat to farm WvW ranks by trading keeps, towers, etc. clockwise around the map. One commander was boasting about the number of ranks he’d earned. They were telling other players not in on the fix to stop repairing and stop attacking.
Again, this is not fun or fair and I hope ArenaNet puts a stop to it.

These guys made a good showing at a fight vs Sanctum of Rall and their mega-zerg last night. We were holding SoR off and way outnumbered…[RE] appeared behind their zerg and scattered them, TC was standing in the end. We all got wiped a few fights later, but that one battle was pretty classic.
Our match-up is lopsided also. For weeks it’s been neck-and-neck and a lot of fun, but this week every map is near solid green and barren. Green team has more than blue and red combined. I don’t know what ArenaNet was thinking, but they killed off WvW on our server for the week.
I’ve screencapped and sent tickets with descriptions before, which seems like a better way to me, but I always get a response to use the in-game system. The in-game report system seems so generic, like you’re reporting “something”.
Like calling 911 to report “I saw that guy do something” and hanging up.
NCSOFT is a South Korean company. If that email was written by a native Korean speaker then it’s pretty good English.
there really are people on the forums that just don’t get it when they get banned.
Reminds me of one of the more frustrating classes I took in college…ethics. Academically, the people you describe simply have different ethical standards. Good grief, there were so many different kinds of ethics and each one had their virtues and vices. What’s frustrating is that it’s difficult for any of us to accept differing ethical standards.
To me, following the norms of society is completely acceptable. To others it conflicts with their very being. The debates in that course…gives me a headache thinking about it.
Every time I read one of these posts I think of this article I read regarding ArenaNet’s policies. If you have a few minutes, read it.
http://www.toptiertactics.com/15083/an-open-letter-to-arenanet-regarding-my-guild-wars-2-ban/
At first I thought that letter was serious, then I thought it was a satire, by the end I couldn’t tell.
Hard to believe after all the Reddit posts, game site articles, and endless posts here that there’s still players who don’t believe they’re serious about that.
Nobody here can fix it or knows if it can be fixed, you have to make a support ticket.
Click the link “Support” at the top of the page, make a support account (it’s not the same as your game account), and type your issue in the “Ask a question” field.
how can I level up to 80 with limitation?
There are many maps for each level, and with the automatic down-leveling the list of available zones increases as a character levels up. Throw in gathering XP and exploration XP and leveling up is a speedy and unstoppable process.
My favorite leveling activity is the zone “wall crawl”. Hug one side of a zone and explore every cranny. You’ll find hidden chests, veterans, jumping puzzles, loot, gathering, sights, and usually a few levels.
So what the heck is the purpose of the swearing filter then??
So I received a 3 day ban…carebears…lonely low-life’s feelings…making him feel even more inadequate…insecurity issues…persons stupidity…he cried…care bears…wittle feewings hurt…cried to mommy…softskinned carebears…spineless pvp’ers…carebears quit…i’m not mad…carebears…Noobs.
You sure you’re ok over there?
Could be you got reported for something you typed in public chat and they looked at all your communications to figure out if whatever you did was one-time or habitual.
I wouldn’t think immediately making a confrontational “call out” forum post is a good idea, being also against the rules and all that. That’s sort of like speeding after a speeding ticket.
but im confused bc none of my characters have a bad name … the name i had b4 was [offensive name] but i changed it to [offensive name]
Good grief, well hopefully they put your account out of its misery soon so they can stop babysitting it.
(edited by Moderator)
Can’t see what could possibly be wrong with it. There’s real life people with Heimerdinger as a last name as well as various companies with it in their name. No different than Smith or Jones, it’s just a name.
I’m running sort of an old laptop with Windows 8 and it works fine in GW2. It only has 4 GB RAM and has a dedicated Radeon video card. I use the auto-detect for video quality.
I used to keep up with the latest hardware, but gave that up years ago. I was already in my 30’s when Doom came out and maintained custom systems throughout my 30’s and 40’s. You can squander a lot of money doing that, I’d rather spend it on my grand kids. Today if it works then it’s good enough for me.
There’s a prominent note on the minimum requirements page that says:
“Note: Due to potential changes, system requirements may change over time and you may be required to upgrade your current system (or obtain a new system) to continue to play the game.”
Most of us, if we’ve been gamers for years, have had to upgrade our systems to keep up with game updates. Seems like we had to do that for DAoC even when they changed the character models.
“have only responded in kind to people who attempt to troll me or Gates of Madness.”
And there you probably have it. It doesn’t matter if you get angry or frustrated because somebody said something to upset you – if you were abusive in response then you earned the suspension.
I think you’re on to something.
If you look at the top of this web page, to the right of the word “Forum” is the word “Support”. Click that, make a support account, and you can write about whatever you want. It will assign a ticket number and you can have a back and forth conversation for as long as they keep answering you.
I get this all the time. Sometimes have to restart the client several times before it goes away.
There’s a LOT of players in this game. If you wanted to, you could pretty much do your own thing endlessly and not stand out from anybody else. It’s virtually impossible to “grief” anybody. You’d have to do a LOT of attention-seeking to attract the amount of attention you’re describing. Just saying.
Just use one of those electronic password wallets, nobody can remember the logins to all the systems we use these days. Then you can make random passwords for everything and just copy/paste them into login boxes.
Here’s a good Password Generator
There’s a lot of password wallet apps out there that sync between your PC and smartphone.
If it can be done, a support ticket is the only way. My GW1 account had been hacked for years and I didn’t know about it until I got GW2 and tried to link them. They eventually resolved it.
The problem with support tickets is that you sometimes have to go through several iterations of nonsense replies before you get real help. The first tier of replies will be automated and have nothing to do with the ticket, the second tier will have you repeat details that you already put in the original ticket, and finally you’ll get somebody who’s able to fix it.
It says NAMING POLICY in the screen cap, so it looks like your “friend” chose a character or account name that violated the ToS. It also says SUSPENDED (not terminated), so the suspension should expire eventually.
Regardless, they handle these things through a support ticket by the account owner using the account owner’s support account. Typically, however, the wait time for appealing a suspension is about as long as the actual suspension so it kind of works itself out on its own.
(edited by LeCreaux.3087)
Fixed it by defragging and clicking “run as administrator” in properties. One of them worked.
For a few days I have not been able to target or right-click NPCs. The mouse icon does not change when I hover over NPCs. I can use F to interact with them.
Perhaps, but suspending someone without warning for talking to themselves in say is really overboard…
…Especially when I am a customer who has bought over $500 dollars in gems in just the past month. If my business really means so little to them that they’d ban me for using undirected profanity in a tiny vicinity like say chat, then they have their priorities mixed up and I’ll take my money elsewhere.
…the customers who spend the most at least deserve the courtesy of a warning. Yes, treating your customers who spend more than other customers is completely okay. Go to any bar/restaurant in town and drop a load of dough then come back the next week and see how much better they treat you….
Look at it this way…have you ever walked out of a restaurant because they DIDN’T do something about an “entitled” customer? Maybe one who cursed, talked loudly, or smoked? A lot of people do walk out and and never return…and it costs more money than it makes.
A lot of people stick with GW2 specifically because they enforce their TOS. They’ve been famous for it since day one and a lot of players cheer every time somebody makes a forum post about getting suspended for language. It’s like hearing a bug zapper.
I reported the people harassing me for harassment lol. There must of been at least 30 different people within 1 hour whispering me inappropriate words.
Just saying…you’re suspended for language and 30 people who don’t know each other whispered angry things at you. Either you’re the coach of an NFL football team or you’re leaving out some details.
Seriously? Don’t you have better things to do than reporting someone’s pet? Christ.
I wonder what about the pet’s name was so offensive that you couldn’t take it.
I can think of nothing better to do with your online time than helping ArenaNet take out the trash.
Remember i kept this name since 2005 and had zero problems with it…
…By the moment i won’t change name until i have 100% sure informations…
…I’d like to communicate with someone who competes and which can help me.
If you want to communicate with someone who can help you then you need to make a support ticket. Making a post on the public forum doesn’t do it.
It doesn’t really matter how long you’ve had an avatar name. A lot of us have played games for decades with the same names, it’s not a factor. Better safe than sorry, all it takes to get suspended again is for somebody to report it again. Either you want to play or you want to take your chances with a name, it’s easier to just make a new name.
Doesn’t the log show everything you get, including trash? You should ask if they have a log of you ever having it since they have logs of you never losing it.
1. Make a ticket and paste everything you wrote here in that ticket.
2. Use a subject that is somehow related (i.e. “Mailbox full, lost items”)

I had a similar issue in another MMO where I played a rogue with perma-stealth on a PvP server.
I was following a friendly player (in stealth) hoping to gank an enemy rogue prowling the area. A chest spawned right in front of me and I opened it and restealthed. The “friendly” player went ballistic and started accusing me of being a hacker in tells and on map chat. Who knows what goes on in these people’s heads.
Anyway, I just reported him for harassing me and never responded (but I did watch him get ganked and did nothing). I’m sure nothing happened to him, other MMOs generally don’t care about player behavior unless it’s costing them money. That’s what separates GW2 from the rest.
I don’t see the point in having a profanity filter if the use of profanity gets you banned anyway.
