Necro Balance Patch Review

I’ve noticed a real hit to my suitability in wvw. The loss of shroud cd and the fact that shroud decays this fast is just horrible. It’s now either a miracle or an enemy’s mishap when I survive fighting more than 1 person at a time. Was the nerfs to shroud really necessary? What exactly is it that anet wants to happen with necro? At this rate scourge won’t even be taken in pvp or wvw due to its inability to stand on its own 2 feet. (assuming that spellbreakers will be as sustainable, and self-reliant as they seem to be).

Additionally, I was expecting something, anything that made power specs actually viable, as it stands, condi reaper is still better than power reaper, and additionally it would seem that condi reaper will either be on par or stranger than condi scourge. Think about this; a POWER spec is just as viable as a CONDI spec in terms of condi damage! At this rate power scourge will be more useful than condi scourge.

Don’t forget we usually ignore us and barely support even with the vital persistence. in wvw teams. Necrolifeman lol. always the one caught when not in a good and caring team.

They simply didn’t know how much it was required to actually play Necromancer lol. Core suffers the most from this as it is the only way to even tank the endless CC of this game lol. it needs to be put in baseline (but make it 25% instead of 50% since this wouldn’t be a trait investment.) Or if they choose to kee pit how it is… improve shroud skills by a good margin to compensate. OR better yet give all weapon skills of necromancer the ability to regenerate life force by small margin which will add up when simply playing necromancer abilities.. this would compensate for the removal.

The Vital persistence nerf is a huge hit without even making shroud skills more powerful… It was basically a must have to even be able to survive and now that is gone lol which tells you they don’t play necromancer at all (mained necro since beta). There needs to be a reason for it to end so quick as it does now and as of right now it doesn’t…. They basically making shroud not the old concept of a safe zone but of a unique powerful ability for a temp time… Vital persistence decay should of been made base line (but at 25% as it would be way too go at the 50% as a baseline). Speed of Shadow there was no reason to remove that base 25% speed no reason for that what so ever lol. _shrug.

Lichform looks fine they still need to make the darn transformation smaller and should be a cool shade or something instead of what we got. It just a giant HIT ME NOW transform.

Also just to add traits that are a must have currently to even be able to do anything (Good example are necromancer set traits which are incorporated into 90% of builds for years now) should be made baseline. Mostly the Soul Reaping Line is a good example of this with Vital Persistence being a must and Death Perception being used for most of the time. Both of these traits should just be made baseline. Soul Marks should be made into Staff skills as well as I do not understand why the Staff shouldn’t be considered a heavy Life Force generator. I got more necromancer suggestions such as Life Force generation ( 0.5% to 1% on all weapon skills which will open up other weapon combinations and builds) but that’s another topic lol.

Im sure many other classes have these nitches (such as Warriors defense line) but just stating one of the classes that suffers the most from a must run trait line.

Vargamonth.2047, blocking some random autos atack and aoe tick is what makes Anet capable of adding more blocks to guardian, wich means more heal on block or damge on block while blocks burning targets.

I think its a good trade off, the mess is on the offensive where the game gets very easy to play where teamplay is barelly no existent.

I know, but I still think its sad to see those single attack blocks, which had their use in the early days, becoming some random unreliable mitigation that trigger some traits here and there.
I’m probably too nostalgic about how the original game felt, when things could be powerful if used at the right time, when we would blind or block an earthsaker and completely negate a powerful multihit move with shelter (also reinforcing ourselves through a no ICD Might of the Protector). I guess those right moments are still there all the time for top players, I just can’t see them anymore.

Don’t worry I get ya it isn’t nostalgia its the passion to want proper balance in a game we all love. If you look at my history you will prob see me b**ing a lot about balance and this direction this game has went but its more just to get the word out. I never check back at replies though as only Anets word matters to me lol.

Give Core Professions Attention

With the upcoming Expansion it is time to give the core professions some attention to at least make them an alternate elite spec to use. Many have come up with ideas such as making an elite spec for the core classes or even use a current core trait line and retool it to an elite spec. I have no suggestions and this merely a shout out to get the attention they need.
You can even simply just give each of the core classes their own mechanic which separate the from the rest of the elite specs would be easy enough.

Anyone can feel free to add with an idea.

Please Please Please cut the damage reduction % of some HoT foods by at least half or overhaul them completely (OR EVEN) make them unusable in WvW if you wish to keep them in PvE. They need to be brought in line with every other food and they harm power builds . I hope ANET reads this comment.

Otherwise amazing change and props. Now I just hope many significant skill/trait balances are coming for expansion.

Ive lost hype with the direction the game has taken in the last 2 years from HOT and even before HOT with the June 2015 build which butchered balance.

Only thing putting me off raids is not the difficulty but the lameness of the Puzzle like encounters (im sure better term for how they are.. I guess mechanic heavy as hell and require pinpoint practice which is a huge stresser if you mess up a lot simply due to latency of a pc) which are not my cup of tea.. They should of just made raids more of larger dungeons (not gw2s version of dungeons.. which is basically extreme stupid ai)which had more fodder and then a cool boss encounter. Guess my opinion but this game lacks actual non visual less stress encounters as if you screw up you get blamed (even if they don’t.. u know they thinking to themselves as they tend to talk a bit diff of frustration as THE NEW GUY IS HERE. just promotes toxic behavior). Now im not saying make it like dungeons as dungeons the AI are stupid as hell but it should be a good mix. Id like to kill some fodder (and prevent jumping by them by some obstructions perhaps but that I don’t know)

Maybe im the only one who feels the boss encounters are overly investing and after doing any of the raids you feel drained to hell. But I know people do like it as I got a friend who does. Basically im just here stating why I dislike raids (I wouldn’t care as much if it was wasn’t the predominate way ANet is releasing difficult content) but well this what they turned to…….. which is basically putting me off to PVE sadly. Fractals I dislike myself as the content is bland as hell and its the traditional dungeons we got here of a sitting mark and you just DPS it to death its very boring. I know my opinions wont change things but Im just saying how it would bring me to the raid scene. (A good example of what id like to see it he larger dungeons in guild wars 1 which were long, interesting… but you had fodder to kill to perhaps get some decent stuff on the way while doing interesting encounters.

But I do gotta love the comments to people with issues with the Raids and get stomped out defending it lol. God forbid others have opinions that don’t fit. If that many people are upset something is wrong.

Sadly im not as hyped for this expansion as I was with HOT. HOT wasn’t even that bad but the PvP/WVW balance, Trait system has been butchered and Raids have become the main area of focus (should of never added or made them larger/harder dungeons) is putting me off to this game slowly every day. I only come on for dailies which is such a sad thing to say as I got a lot of passion for this game that I played since beta.

You still playing ranked? lol gave that up seasons ago.. useless when build diversity is limited by the meta builds that are too strong for many months now (only recent balance patch did some dmg but barely and it needed way more) which hold the whole game back. Every meta build needs to be nerfed to the ground and a whole new meta needs to be formed (also funny as the meta builds currently are boring as hell to play.. another put off). Think what you want but it has to be done if the pvp wants to recover. If you disagree you clearly have your little build you took months to master and lazy to do something new. Also while I do this rant the complete build of June 2015 which changed this game dramatically needs to be reverted to return a sense of normalcy. I don’t even think the HoT specs are too much to blame if that build was reversed. Return the HoT traits and skills to what they were in Beta testing (that summer of 2015) to also return them to a state of proper balance that had lower dmg numbers that the team who made them knew what they were doing… and you can balance those from there. Falling of deaf ears but whatever saying it anyway.

Just think of it this way. If you are upset more than enjoying a game. Ditch the stressor this game mode creates and do something you have fun with. You should not be punishing yourself for little enjoyment if any. This mode hasn’t been fun for over a years now unless you like punching yourself then keep playing.

I stopped when balance has barely been touched … no build diversity… every decision since June 2015 update which through the balance of this game to oblivion… tried to continue up until League Season five when it got worse an worse with team matching… Everything combined to what we got now. Sad as i love this game but the lack of care for the pvp scene (no making a huge update that wasnt needed doesnt mean caring) Balance and player experience is the true passion of what spvp should consist of and it has been neglected for far too long. Just did a game today for dailies (only reason i log in now mostly) and its full of toxic builds and just completely terrible playing experience (oh and ive been around since beta and i expected everthing great of gw2 from 2012 to 2015). The game isnt attracted to new players i tried to get people to come play but they arent into the over the top damage being done with zero change to do anything else. Damage needs to be toned down terribly… everyone doesn’t have top notch computers to keep up wiht all the flash and barely noticeable tells unless you got supervision.

Key Points:
-At least month by month balance updates… instead of 3 months of waiting for barely anything changed when players giving actually information.
-Build diversity is needed.
-Consider reverting changes from June 2015 build which wrecked balance of the game completely. This includes traits, condition dmg, and essentially everything done that build with gear stats. It is not beyond them to completely overhaul traits they did it three times or so before this final one which is so bland and too many over tuned traits. Shouldn’t fix what wasn’t broken.

It’s ok we will all slowly leave spvp since that is the point of doing what they been doing since terrible balance/diversity and the infamous build of June 2015 which killed balanced (basically entire thing), lack of new pvp modes [conquest is dead] get real people… it was bad in gw1 hero battle and even more poor now… if it takes too much work to balance means its dead… if you love it good for you majority obviously doesn’t.

This game needs random arenas and team battle… two separate modes for league/tournament. hmm what else would fix this game…. tutorial so people know actually what to do instead of just randomly learning by playing. Support hotjoin a bit more like it was in 2013 where you can quickly jump into a game instead of searching so hard for practice maps… that whole server is dead I don’t even understand why it exists still. Do all this.. people will well IMHO come back in flocks. But im sure we will keep the conquest mode as it is and basically hide most of the spvp hotjoin scene/severs people make for leagues and ranks since there isn’t structure as you may imagine…
OH and if that little dilemma of “split” community. Lol…… what community? reverse it if its sooooo bad (which it wont). Its amusing all so fearful of this when we got what we got now. Oh also bring back old rewards.. you know ascended gear which you can get by playing…. make it a a bit grindy instead of putting it behind marks… don’t get that big step in the wrong direction when all that had to be done was make it x5 to x10 as hard to get the gear…. guess that was supposed to keep people in pvp.

Also don’t bash him for giving up.. you should be saddened by how new players or players like the OP have which draw players away… I hope anet reads this thread so get insight on possibly the majority of the player base (yep.. I talk to people in game and all avoid pvp now with all the changes past 2 years)

lol I been maining Necromancer for 4 years and yeah you need to get used to simply dying and being left behind in pvp and wvw unless you got some very loyal/good players supporting you (its basically a running joke which still happens since people are selfish as heck in this game yet it is designed for team player). It isn’t such a bad balance idea but the game has moved towards a more solo play which gives you this situation right now with Necromancer in pvp. They have a balance of soaking damage with barely any tanking amulets (vitality AND toughness) which makes them appear to be sitting/bad ducks dying in seconds. I know many will say that necro is in a bad spot but it really isn’t as I play it to this day effectively (however its condition…. since power necromancer is simply too squishy to survive for long in pvp).. its the other classes (yep sounds like a common thing but its actually true when people get their head out of their asses) which are overtuned with so much stuff going on. Anet decides to keep fixing up Reaper instead of giving a simple Death shroud 2 a teleport which I have purposed to mimic essentially the activate skill of shadow fiend (I mean literally just copy and pasting it over with the same effects to deathshroud 2) and you got a skill which would help wonders of Necromancer with barely any effect other then SOMETHING for survive 2 seconds longer (which in this game could be a god send).

And I love how people say “just keep dyin and get used to it” Lol if you any good on necromancer you wont die faster then 10 seconds… and only reason you dying is your allies don’t give a kitten about you .. it happens time and time again. If you actually have good allys you never die. Oh and I hear ESL necro dying all the time lol… shows the actual skill level of those players then.. Im sure they just choose to let him die then actually help since they lazy.

(FYI yes Necromancer and Reaper are separate classes people)

@OP But yah you missing some better skills on that skill bar to be effective. Well of darkness is ok for a few seconds but it wont help you at all in this current PvP Meta. Consume Conditions is the go to heal since they refuse to make the one u using actually 1/4 cast time like it should ( I mean should even be 3/4 seconds) to make that viable. They so scared to actually make things work for necromancer but they seem to don’t give at all when doing changes to other classes… its shown in a lot of previous builds past 2 years. Spectral wall is soso if you inexperienced and really needs another cooldown reduction as it goes away fast as heck with barely any positive benefits.

Also a no no sitting in the circles.. you should be distance attacking and have ally supporting. only enter circle if its about to be capped to stale it or wait it outside the circle and attack them while they sit in it.

Necromancer is probably the best balanced class (others are over the top with everything and THEY need to be toned down) (however on Reaper (yeah separate class) I wouldn’t of buffed infused terror like they did…….. should of been 10% dmg reduction no idea why 20% was thought to be good idea) and Necromancer needs DS2 having a AoE targetable area finally to put that in the spot it should be but it still hasn’t got the attention as REAPER REAPER REAPER is the major focus for balance of anything apparently now. But still out of al lthe classes Necromancer is the best balanced

Btw im a necro main.. and im still puzzled on all th recent buffs to Necormancer in the past 6 months…. with scepter boon strip and axe which I felt were fine as they were… Axe 3 should of been left alone as that retaliation was a major use to necormancers skills… No idea why that was touched for a conditional dmg buff which barely helps like retaliation did. I would call that a nerf to axe for sure.

I’m going to make a general statement that applies to your questions.
Not every balance change is relevant to your skill level or game-mode.

As an example, I have never played a War. If I face one in PvP, there are only a couple attacks that I can see coming and dodge. Headbutt and Shield Bash may have obvious animations but, as I’ve never played one, I simply can’t pick them out of the flurry of actions going on in a given fight. For players of my skill level and below, the change gives us just a hint of extra breathing room against Wars.

The game should not be catering to you.

Like many posts before the game can not be balanced around the average to below average player.

When facing Plat players and above they are already dodging the skills that players want to land.

There is a reason alot of players could carry in X area. I myself could carry in Gold 2 and sometimes 3. The game should not cater to me, there are much better players then myself.

The NBA changes the rules for its best players, they added a 3 point line because there were great shooters. They moved it back because it was too easy, 5 sac back down rule because of great post up players. Zones because players like shaq were too dominant and teams needed more ways to help.

You dont change the game because some guy who couldnt make it to the NBA wants to be in the NBA.

That’s an interesting analogy. The difference is NBA teams search for and train the best players they possibly can. And yet, not only have the NBA rules been “buffed” and “nerfed” to help or hinder certain player types, but the rules also have variations for WMBA, college, highschool, whatever little league is in basketball, and casual play. How many people are going to call a stringent 5 second hold in a pickup game?

Basketball rules set what is allowed. GW2 rules set what is possible and every skill level plays at the same time. Balancing is hard and slow because ANet has to think about what is best for the game as a whole, not any one group of players. That includes the above average / top tier players.

Weak as my anecdote was; that is my point. Balance is (and has to be) game-wide and not for any one player or players.

LOL dude balance is not as complicated as you made it dude. So much easy tweaks can be done and suggested by so many intelligent people that is a complete cop out but I respect your reasoning to think otherwise. Guild wars 2 has a poor excuse to wait months to do things if they actually all played the game and discussed it for a week. The best build GW2 had for over 2 years sadly now was the recent one which took the real issues at hand. However, it was still lacking in fixing many other things.

it is always better to over do something and then tone it down (which gw2 should be doing right now with some over done changes from recent build like the torment flying around for some reason on rev.. but they probably wont touch anything for a long time as their previous practices predict)

Like really wtf is going to happen if they do some tweaks and woops wrong move.. its a game this isn’t real world policy and rules.

And im here still champing for visual icons (like in gw1) below nameplates at top of screen to avoid all the issues of tells which you cannot see (which is almost 90% of skills if you got a potato computer or any sub par spec to play this visually crazy game) so people can actually react to stuff. That is the major flaw of this game.. everything happens to fast and you cant barely see kitten unless you got perfect 20/20 vision not having a slight lag spike that moment of visual clutter this game has and then manage to get out of that to then have another “so call visual tell” Why you think this game is in the state it is now? everything recently introduced in HoT with below 1 second cast times for some reason… and the obvious gw2 build of june 2015 which completely obliterated balance and this was a step in the right direction.

Its funny I play pvp nearly every day and I still have a hard time picking out any skills beloe 1 second if it isn’t a 1v1) let a lone below 1 second. Just from the sheer fact we don’t have skill icon use like in Gw1. Its one less thing to worry about to actually play the game proper. Sadly it is needed at this point and it would be a boon to the activity of pvp for sure.

Oh and before you say Oh get good or the visuals are fine.. nah they aren’t you should not be investing 100% of your senses on a game just to be able to play to even survive. Every time playing this game in pvp for more then an hour if you don’t feel completely exhausted from the sensory overload. (If you don’t good for you)

Oh and yes games should be tailored to the players… Lol they want players to play right? make it actually possible. I tried to bring several people to this game for the pvp and they felt overwhelmed and ditched it so fast. (Oh and I been playing since beta some im not a random shlub)

Just an opinion. deal with it as you may.

Best build so far in 2 years… adapt or die. The game was stale and people claimed pvp was dying.. They change it up… now its worse? logic much? So many left the game over that very meta you claim was balanced and good LOL. Too funny. Man the population of this game got so bad defending that previous meta. It was all copy and paste builds and now you need to actually think? Thank god they trashed sigils all of you sheep using the same stuff isnt how a game should stay…. it was extremely stagnant.. Oh and yeah i been around since beta and mostly pvp and wvw. Only thing im a little upset over is Plague but I get over it since im not a cry baby.

Man what happened to actual skill instead of mindless previous meta. Yep it was mindless i actually didnt participate in previous season over how bad it is and was. All the people upset here got carried by builds.

(Oh and i play all classes well except ele which i know got hit sadly with no buffs to compensate for the other nerfs which were needed…. so dont think im some elitist to one)

Swiftness shouldnt even be on Dash and should instead give 1 second Superspeed. Why does a thief able to have perm uptime of swiftness is beyond me. Cooldown on the removal of immobilize or even just remove would be good as well. Superspeed would handle the chill slow and just better overall.

I mean even Dash with 10% dmg reduction is a bit much as long as their health remains the same it isnt too bad. But has everything else just from dodging is over the top.

Also this stuff is daredevil not Thief…true thief doesnt have a line to change their dodges…. they survived 3 years without it they dont need it now. If swiftness is meant to be had by all why is it even a boon and just be baseline speed…. that would be an awesome change as well.. all have swiftness WHY have a boon for it… i mean rev even got it randomly added in invocation line.

Just a fyi im not a thief hater.. im a imbalance over tuned trait/skill hater. Heck there is a bone to pick for every class.

The increase to Choking Gas’ initiative cost will definitely put it in line. Probably even shorten the poison circles duration to 2 seconds (instead of its current 4 seconds). Outright getting rid of it without any compromising balance check is poor judgment in balance.. nothing would be changed in this game which it needs badly and make anet not do anything anymore if they gotta revert everything they do instantly over 1 day.

Also not sure why you would res through dmg being done to both parties.. was it that easy to just ignore stuff and start reviving people? lol.

Seeing how the Choking Gas daze can only affect each person only once with a 1 sec ICD on the daze, people can move out of the cloud, cleanse the poison, dodge the cloud, uses Stability, use an Invuln. You know things called not standing the same small green circle letting stacks build on you……

Lol people forgot how to play these days I had people sitting in my small Plaguelands circle not moving. -shrug- it proves the skill level of players is so low.

Cool I m thinking of actually getting interest in this game again. I needed the change and the nerfs. (and I played longer.. 4 1/2 years). I think nearly not enough was nerfed. Oh and I did play Guild Wars 1 for 7 years. Just remember its always to overbuff stuff to then trim down the fat later on. But I could be wrong.. Anet tends to leave fat for years… But hey it got me interested again for a while so that’s a plus.

Still no Rousing Resilience Nerf

Rousing Resilience is only good at the cooldowns of Stun Breaks on Warrior… otherwise this trait is in the right spot. I think the symptom should be treated and not the trait itself.

Them adding Daze to Choking Gas is awesome throwback to Guild Wars 1. It simply needs to be balanced and I hope it does as I think its a great way to make choking gas… actually choke instead of tickle with poison for heal reduction. they can simply increase initiative cost to 6… or even 8. and keep what it does now instead of it being so low at 4 for it’s strength. I mean guild wars 1 version even had a high energy cost to use.. yet this remains at 4 initiative which is not a lot at all… so like anything done… fix the symptom.

yeah def one of the best builds. A lot of balance still not addressed but this is a great start. Some traits which are essentially requirements to even have the class function like Thief’s Trickery line and 1 in Deadly Arts line (Mug/Sleight of Hand/Thrill of Crime/Bountiful Theft) and Necormancer’s Soul Reaping line (Vital Persistence) need to be fixed up to make the always take traits simply baseline to allow more diversity OR removed which im both ok with. Im sure there are others im forgetting at the moment but I think the point was made XD.

May seem out of topic but the only issue here is Thief having way basically nitch traits which shouldnt even exist. Every single thief has these four traits below as a baseline to ANY build they make. These traits should be reworked and then address other issues with thief. Even if anet feels these traits should simply be baseline to Steal it is odd that you are forced to do Trickery for almost every Thief build you do… and pretty outright crazy. I think these traits actually what really make thieves perform the way they do and its time something is truly done. If they cannot adapt to these traits being taken out then thief is being carried anyway by them.

Again may seem odd I bring up balance during a sigil topic but if Sleight of Hand didn’t exist.. this would be a little issue. Heck even Headshot is a skill on pistol is an issue only because Bountiful Theft exists. Thieves Offhand Pistol needs both skills being taken out (spammable stealth and a spammable daze) Pistol offhand being so good keeps thief from evolving to other build options.

But yeah Sigil of Absorption should have a little cooldown of 1 second or so to contain its powers for sure.

well it sucks that eles kinda got shafted since dmg sigils gone but now perhaps a silver lining… they can see the issues without those sigils corrupting their balance decisions. it was very odd all needed those sigils to even do any dmg in the first place.

So they are trying to reduce stalemating fights but also slow down the pace of the game.

Warrior is directly reflecting this concept in their changes.

The biggest worry is still a generous tilt in the appeal of condi builds, but I think it’s best at this point to wait out the changes and see how we adapt.

Poorly though in my opinion. 10% nerf to passive healing from signet is pretty big superficially, but they are still healing for about 475 health every second if they keep T3 adrenal health up, and that is still absolutely trivial to do since primal burst skills still count as T3 adrenaline skills.

The elephant in the room is Endure Pain / Defy Pain’s effect nerf down to 2 seconds.

good decision removing hydromancy. any sigil that was used by everyone had to go. its called a crutch. now people will have more options instead of forced into 1 thing. Endure pain and defy pain got nerfed to a proper level… same as the thieves version trait. Sadly berserker stance wasnt touched which needed the 50% reduced duration as well….. it is too good at simply pumping out adrenline and immune to all conditions for so long with little thought to its use

I vote no change at all to legendary sounds. Nothing wrong with the noise people need to stop being control freaks. The Bloodstone Visage Skin sound was awesome and once again taken out. If it is such a big deal a slider needs to be made for these item sounds then because I find it outrageous really cool things people enjoy are spoiled by everyone wanting their perfect world on a game. Even the endless loop on Howler quote on quote “bug” which was hardly annoying what so ever was spoiled by this a few years ago which I enjoyed as well. You may as well make everything make the same noise and end all unique sounds together if you cant do a slider for people to choose to remove the sounds while allowing others to enjoy it who like it.

Way more priories for a game need to be addressed then peoples “immersion issues” such as balance.

Too funny if sigil of revelation is just to counter stealth on other classes why have the stealth on the other classes.. Lmao. Oh right balance team can’t balance. NO idea why all these sigils are being thought up instead of actually balancing the game by reducing the huge damage. It doesn’t work you got people with slower computers, skills being used which you can barely react to and traits which have over tuned abilities of boosting damage. (less is more)

Is Spvp really that out of touch/no control of the balancing of the game? I heard it before but it is 100% true I feel bad.. working with nothing but playing with sigils and amulets to fix no balance lol. (Sorry before we have people say we have balance, having 1 meta build for each class wont sustain a game. .the pvp season is already proving that one.. zero hype and many opting out.

ROLLBACK CHANGES FROM JUNE 2015 TRAIT REVAMP AND GAMEPLAY TO FIX THE ISSUE. SIGILS WONT DO ANYTHING.

People forget that the change to endurance regeneration even influences the current issues as people cannot avoid the big damage (only issue for this change was the instant regeneration brought on by sigil of energy which for some reason wasn’t touched until AFTER the nerf of endurance.. why mess around with the base games balance is mind boggling… original team of gw2 knew exactly what they were doing.) You can disagree all you want he re but there was nothing wrong with the endurance for years on release until people all started to keep using sigil of energy for instant 50 endurance every 9 seconds.. on swap…..

Even the pre-release beta testing HoT Elite specs had balance compared to them being tinkered from then after their beta phase… man just look back at the first purposed Hot traits yourselves.

clearly they want more complaints on lack of materials (hint hint leather) You would think they would want less of that. Lol feel bad for the PR.. as nothing was wrong with how it was. If the first time they release it they had no issue with it and then after many complains of people blowing money on the EXTREMELY overpriced ascended armor (yep just about 500g or more to full craft all of it.. well im just guessing at the moment but I know its close to 100g a piece) Yet you didn’t see the raid armor lists being updated with this crafting token. (LOL?) Oh man imagine if raids vendors had this too Oh wait nvm that is the new direction.. the 5% of people who do it. Nothing I ever seen being done is done equally and only punishes people from actually enjoying the game.. hence why you see people simply leaving or complaining. The PvP ascended items yes pretty easy to get (since they rewarded losing for some reason… entitlement generation indeed) .. but that could of easily been fixed with boosting the required league shards to give 1 or 2 pieces of ascended or actual good items a season (enough to satisfy people)

At the risk of not being very popular, not being able to cast damaging phantasms while remaining in stealth sounds good to me.

Well that maybe true for some of them which is hilarious as Phantasm Berserker you can still cast in stealth does way more reliable spike damage then lets say Phantasmal Duelist (added super slow bullet mind you hoping you will miss the target to not unstealth, no damage. I mean it should do a daze at least instead of a useless cripple.) Casting Duelist in stealth was the only advantage pistol had which is underused so badly in any game mode which is now made completely obsolete now.) Phantasmal Mage however not as badly trashed as Phantasmal Duelist still outrageous change but at least it has a decent cast modifier of burn application unlike duelist. So if they want to do this little thing with no stealthing you may as well finish the job and get Phantasmal Berserker to the same level. But you know they may not do that as it will kill Power Mesmer lol talk about hypocrisy of their motives.

Astonished Ancient Seed has not been removed or simply given a 30 second cooldown. That trait is outrageous and needs to be hammered badly. They have no idea what are the issues in the game.. and it is clear every 3 months when they simply don’t do anything about balance. The only thing that was spot on was the Dragonhunter’s increased cast tune on Spear of Justice… slight win ?… Who even knows.

Also to add to that Necro vs Druid situations.. why exactly is a necro not good vs a Druid? Oh wait let me see oh Ancient Seed.. guess what I just had a rant about being completely over tuned trait?. That is right… Oh yeah say all the condi cleanse you want… that’s fancy talk for perfect situations . If you use the cooldowns on your transfers you become a sitting duck as even the targeting on those roots are garbage. I play all classes mind you so I know what I’m talk about.

And yet again more Pet buffs… wow don’t get me started the HoT Pets Tiger (reduce fury uptime…needs cooldown increase on it’s F2)…. Smokescale needs to be wayyyyyy less tanky, and Bristleback as well wayyyy less tanky. Very big issue on HoT pets simply being way to good and is never addressed In PvP. There is a reason people constantly use them instead of all the other pets and it has to stop.
Oh guess what I use Druid and also use these pets so don’t call this post im doing some thing against Druids… I got plenty of other issues with every class because simply nothing is being done to address the horrible state of balance.

If nothing is done with Pets at least axe Natural Healing trait on them… Probably the trait which keeps the HoT pets alive since they are bruiser Dmg/Tanky types. Sure that would cause riots.

Leather Farm

I keep shaking my head in this thread. What did you all expect, something like the flax farm in VB? Someplace you could park a couple of characters and spend a minute to “harvest” all the nodes once a day? That wasn’t EVER going to happen.

Pre-HoT T5 and T6 leather was undervalue with millions on the TP for sale. ANet does not want to see that return. So it was obvious that this wasn’t going to be a “farm” like anything we’ve seen before. They wanted to set a bar high enough that if you REALLY REALLY want leather that day, you join a zerg and charge in and clear it for a short time to get a handful of leather directly rather than all the other ways to get it, all to keep a flood of leather from hitting the TP and plummet prices back into the floor.

So in the end they gave players what they wanted, a leather farm, but one that wouldn’t destroy the leather economy again overnight. Some suggest a tweak in drop and salvage rates could have fixed the issue in an organic fashion but the issue there is players might not recognize cause and effect. ANet wanted the leather market to be player controlled and self regulating, meaning if the price is to high there is somewhere players could go and reliably get that mat until the price dropped to the point where it is no longer attractive to do that activity.

Do I think the difficulty needs to be adjusted down a bit, sure, but never to a point that the farm becomes a place to park alts at or one that can be soloed by anyone.

too funny hey it isn’t undervalued now is it?.. it has a purpose now.. before it didn’t. that makes no sense lol. Im sure you so concerned on the economy of a game.. are you hording leather or something? majority of players cannot constantly get the leather they need to make their equipment and other things. I love [sarcasm] the logic of self regulated economy when you got selfish people who game the trading post have full control over everything because the source of leather is low… self regulating economys DO NOT WORK because people are all out for themselves and don’t care for others its simple. It is so crazy how this concept of player regulated economy came to be. Im sure over years it can work but the attention span of players these days is near nothing it is a cute little idea that will cause issues continually and it has since John Smith announced it.

lol I don’t even have a full set of ascended armor on any character I have and ive been playing since the start. The price of making the armor is a complete joke and they refuse to fix the cost to make them .. now force to craft it ONCE again which is insanely pricey to any person to do without just completely over investing your gold in it. I don’t get why they want to make everything harder and force people to play Trading Post.. its obscured. Could of just easily made stuff at vendor require more of the actual activity instead of forcing people to do something which is a huge boring mess and just more money money money.
Oh and how about taking a look at your leather situation lmao NO LEATHER YET LETS DO FORCED CRAFTING NOW FOR ARMOR for each armor class. Feels like im in the twilight zone. This update better come with fixes to actually obtaining crafting items to actually do this leveling im not paying so much gold just to reach 500 at these current prices.

Edit: slash that … it will never happen as the promise to help lower prices of t6 leather has done nothing. lol not paying 90s for each t6 piece of leather.. im not that stupid.(not buying those until they reach below 30s)

Poll makes no sense it’s basically a symptom to attempt a fix on the balance of the game without actually addressing it… there should be no issues stacking teams if things actually had balance on here.

Take a look at the game build June 2015 trait revamp and essentially major game changes for the fix to balance basically everything done in there gave us what we got now….. it will basically make this poll moot. However, make it yes to people NOT changing after timer.. no reason people need to swap after game when teams are prepared before hand.. odd this was even made possible.

Only way the leather situation is being fixed is by reverting the change to salvaging rates of it… which occurred when HOT was introduced. Easy fix up done deal it wasn’t amazing back then and it probably won’t do too much right now (but possibly at least cut the price in half which it needs severely but this is a total guess)

Geez then I won’t be coming back for this season as I quit out when I had uneven matches which I refused to carry/grind out wins for bad players to go to my proper position. but other then that I don’t see why there isn’t a very simple system of win +set amount of points and lose -set amount of points… keeping things simple works out just fine. I been playing unranked and getting 9 times out of 10 better games its quiet interesting and I have a way worse unranked mmr. These leagues need to have random players put together 50/50 (yep i know everyones against that one lol) and separate ladder rankings to have their own personal up and down.. as clearly having everyone locked in little cells of divisions has down nothing for this season. Perhaps you can have this random draw locked in those divisions to give a wayyyyyyy WAYYYY better chance of getting competent players instead of ones who lucked out or some how crawled their way into that division.

Simple solution sum up:
- 50/50 random draw in division you in. Way higher draw of better players in a game then having the system make you CARRY people. Outrageous notion that people need ot be carried is what is causing these constant issues. Why do people need ot carry others? They need to work for it by playing games and attempting wins.

- Make the rewards increase ONLY when they win. This will force people to want to win instead of mediocre giving a kitten about what is going on.

I hope season 6 will be great as I opt out so fast on this season as I was finding myself never progressing and always falling. You cannot progress with a pool of bad people but, having a game of good people to push you to play better and wake your brain up allows you to progress. Its that simple really

There is no point to toughness

This update is what messed up the game balance and diversity. Only reason it seems like damage is out of hand as they placed traits that gave stat increase baseline into gear… but not too often used vitality gear stats or even toughness stats in gear and they got those stats from the trait lines..
A good example of this is necromancer. Before this build the power necro build put traits in deathmagic and blood magic which boosted toughness and vitality attributes each by 200 which allowed them more room to make builds. This is only one example i can think of at the moment to make my argument that removing the stats from the trait lines really messed with things. Another thing with the new trait system is the over abundance of damage increasing modifiers along with this extra stats into Power (from the merger of roughly 300 Power into gear from this trait update) resulting in a double wammy of damage increase from everywhere.
Then when this occurred might was left alone so stacking 25 Might gives out 300 MORE power at a pretty extended duration. I know many wont agree with me but if they wish to keep traits how they are.. they need to cut Mights power/condi increase by probably half or maybe 25% but that’s up for discussion… as well as cut all the damage modifiers on traits by half. (WE got a Mesmer trait Mental Anguish which gives 30% dmg increase… a prime example of over done dmg modifier) Boon durations on skills easily given out… such as rangers resounding timber trait which makes sport of boon durations along with protect me and heal as one and protective ward combo on a very short cooldown period is obscured.

But yah rant over lol just so much that needs to be done but it probably wont.. i Just hope some of these things i said are heard.

Proof MMR is based on RNG, not skill.

I know GW2 has brainwashed most people that it is the case.. but no it isn’t so overrated hearing his name all the time. reason this pvp is in the state it is… terrible balance (matchmaking doesn’t help but balance is the major issue) It is about time the game was reverted to pre Jun 2015 build to fix the mess we got now.

Balance between in-class Specializations

Traits and condition damage need to be put back to before the June 2015 build which basically butchered balance of this games. Plenty of reasons of the current issues were created by this major update to the game.

If you see the HoT specializations in beta testing that same summer they were balanced to reflect the game prior to this major change to traits and condition damage. After this build came out and all the high % damage traits which came with this new build which is outrageous to this day how they remain….they then revamped traits of HOT specializations (you can see in this link http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgABqAKoBqQ~ which is that shamans specialization calculator made during the work in progress phase of development) They had proper balanced however not complete… the concepts were basically in line with how they should of been launched. Instead they listened to people to make them how they are today. Bottom line that June 2015 build essentially through balance of this game to the rollercoaster it is today.

Along with the high % damage traits (10% and more on some traits) coupled with them simply merging 300 Power and other stats from traitlines to be baseline in gear created the issue we have today of the meta. Then you have might which is essentially balanced for the old lower power and trait damages that you then add on 300 more Power from max stacks of might (which for some reason have high durations mind you) to even esculate this even more. Oh and now it seems protection is given out to skills with double duration instead of it being 1 to 2 seconds.. we see skills having 4 seconds or more. (Updated version of Protect me gives 4 seconds of protection then you got a trait which also gives 4.. so 8 seconds of protection every 20-30 seconds without much effort.. and that is just one example as im rambling on but im sure people get the point.

Many factors has butchered the pvp in this game. One being the trait revamp and removing the stats and themed trait lines. This gave the game certain limitation on how far you can take a build.. exampling being you had to invest in the line to obtain 300 power while also lacking in one area. Also traits how they are don’t work.. previous trait system nothing was wrong with other then making lackluster traits a bit better instead of making traits have huge damage numbers they do in the current system. The traits should only compliment builds and not make the entire build like they do now.. but yeah the biggest culprit of the current balance and gameplay is the

The completely over the top damage buff traits introduced by this update along with adding more stats to equipment WITHOUT any boost in Hit points in anything and damage traits being wayyy to high (looking at you Mental Anguish… only one example I can think of at the moment) has caused the major issue with balance to this day. All damage increasing traits should be halved.
All stats across the board (when you equip the certain equipment) except the hit point pool which was designed for the lower damage output of classes were boosted as well. There was a reason this game went the direction is is currently because they messed with the original balance of the classes which was exceptional (Of course issues back then as well but easily fixed if the effort was given) Also with old traits you had to invest in a certain line to perform in a type of category such as condition damage.. or if you wanted more boon duration you had to go to another line. This made sure that these types of builds had their limitations on performance. With the current system you can get everything without any drawback. We even had the HoT Beta classes introduced a few weeks after this update popped and they actually had to BUFF the already relatively balanced new HOT specializations to compensate for the hike in damage introduced in this update. We drastically saw changes to the original traits of the HoT specializations which had the perfect balance for the trait system at the time and then when this update came out they had to change everything to make them perform at that new level which was already broken. Good example is dragon hunter and tempest. If you look at the historical traits of these specializations on dulfy you can clearly see that the traits they DID have were not over the top.

But yeah bottom line.. that update really messed up the entire games balance. Then you even got a might boon which imho is not even tailored to this higher damage as well but makes things even more over the top with damage.. prob not big of an issue in spvp but it is in other locations.. look at raids and wvw.. which make might stacking a must.. which is kind of wonky if you ask me you shouldn’t be required to have might on 25 stacks all the time in a game.. which limits the pool of who can even be in those game modes.

then I find it funny how burning and other conditions got hiked so much but over the last 3 years before their change… they worried about burn durations and damage even adjusting them a bit. but then forget all of that to add very high burn ticks to the game… Oh wait this happened SAME UPDATE? coincidence… nope

HoT specs are strong because the devs used 3 years of experience of what works and what doesn’t when designing them. The Core specs have their designs dating back to prelaunch when the devs where spitballing.

lol that makes no sense the core specs of 3 years ago actually had balance give and take with the trait system.. now its a mess and no direction. The game was way more balanced back then as they keep on changing class balance around forgetting the reasons why they had it. good example is mesmer having shatters do actions even without illusions… you had to destroy all illusions to use the strong abilities of shatter.. now they are just spammed. Also you invested in 1 trait line to do more condition duration which makes sure that those types of builds require the trait line to keep them in check. Now we have anything being used in any type of build which to this day since the trait revamp AND the stat changes of removing locked stats on specific trait lines we have what we have today… the mess of balance. I can ramble on but yeah.. def not improving on anything just a constant landslide every patch note on balance.

Revenant needs to have its damage back on sword skill 2 or revamp the skill to something new.. I mean the description doesn’t even make sense for it precision strike yet hits like a wet noodle. Right now it tickles more then a firefly monster does. Just saying. Staff 5 is acceptable however missed. the staff 3 was un-needlessly increased in cooldown as well after those other 2 changes. Just the typical overnerf like so much balance is these days.

DH: lol so outrageous it has an on point random brain dead trap spam with low cooldowns. Decrease duration of shield of courage to 3 seconds…(making bulwark trait more relevant for increased shielding… give and take for balance) Increase cooldowns on traps and these will be in line. Oh yeah spear of justice shouldn’t be unblockable. Those the only 2 things making this specialization outrageous. ..

Druid: Thye aren’t fine. Just nerf the HoT pets and put in line with the other pets and then they will have to use other amulets to actually do damage. You do damage or your do major healing… you should NOT be able to do both. Oh nvm this gw2.

game needs serious build diversity another reason it has gone to what it is now with balance. Many useless stuff sitting in utilities in all game modes.

Lol I stopped playing after getting outrageously one sides matches at prime times (3 weeks in mind you) and losing outrageous amounts of rating (like my last two games I played before saying im done… 412 – 500 I lose… lost 11 rating then last game ever this season 88 – 500 lose and lose 20 RATING.. this game I was placed with essentially all bad players while the other team had players of my caliber quickly killing them with no issue at all. This game however I find was more of a population issue and I was put with the lowest of the low to carry them alone with disastrous results). I really hate when people insult others when they say “the other people did it” card but you clearly can see how people play and handle their characters and its worse then someone who has some idea how to play.. they simply melt. but anyway things that need to be fixed.

1) Rating gained equalized. You get same rating when winning and same when losing.. perhaps make it 20 for win and 20 for losing to give a wider variance of up and down to actually not have stagnate rankings. The wild fluctuation of rating currently obtained is completely outrageous for a game which you cannot control your team what so ever (oh except duo que… hey maybe I was against duo ques.. they did have reaction times perfectly but x’ed the game completely done with the season after that outrageous lose with a huge rating decrease i did not deserve at all)

2) Make entering the seasons on new accounts not possible. (Make the account require at least a minimum hours playing age ( I propose 500 hours) (yep get rid of the smurfs the ladder currently is a joke lol . This will prevent them farming newbies for rating like cowards)

3) Don’t sacrifice quality games of que times. I rather wait then get matched with trash pretty simple. People these days have no patience and guess what you will have more with this quality of matching as everyone quits the seasons.

4) Display the rating we are being matched with at start of a game when you do the little check marks and also at end like others suggested. Yep if you see some super high rating kid trying to play off hours to cheat the system.. flag them. The neglect to control manipulation in this game is crazy. This also can tell us everyones rating before match and see how the matching is working. Information is one thing to ease the minds of the players… the lack of PR for spvp or any game mode here is kinda crazy.

5) Encourage the use of the Looking for group tool. I actually don’t know why no one is using this to be honest to find partners lol maybe group the spvp ranked arena section into the divisions or something this I cant say on how to do.. maybe this is a player issue however.

If I come off as rude any part of this my apologies… I rather state the facts bluntly then to sugar coat it. Just keep in mind I only care and love this game. Been here since beta and want to continue but the lack of balance (another issue with things right now) and this season making me become extremely tired of continuing other then to do fashion wars. lol.

Same experience here, the quality of teammates compared to the quality of your opponents can sometimes be mind-blowingly different. I’m currently stuck between Gold 1 and Silver 3 simply because every single time I get to mid Gold 1, the matchmaker decides it doesn’t want me to win anymore and puts me on a team of P/P teamfighting Thieves, people that instadie and double cap, and don’t have a clue how to focus targets, rotate or hold points.

I actually JUST had an arguement with a DH that decided he was the leader of the team and told everyone “Don’t go with me to Far, I’ll get it” and proceeded to die over, and over, and over again there. He’d die and just run back, again and again. I then proceeded to explain to him that if the enemy is camping on far then leave them to 5v4 at mid and close, but nope, I apparently “Didn’t understand how to play as a team”.

It’s this kinda thing that I’m getting every single time I make decent progress; I suddenly start on a lose streak that eventually kicks me all the way back to where I started, just so that I have to do it all over again. And don’t get me wrong, I’m not perfect either, I make mis-rotations and play poorly at times, but I know the basics of PvP and I can definitely hold my own in a fight because of my experience solo roaming and dueling in WvW. It’s just so frustrating constantly being put in teams with people that don’t have a clue how to do those things.

As for my motivation? Meh, I just play until I get too salty to carry on, lol. Then I quit.

Exact same situation its funny how are situations are mirrored. Had a match 415 – 500 lost that… only lost 11 rating. No issue here.. THEN next match get set up against an opposing team which clearly knew what they were doing with my team of feeders and people not even fighting on points and you just knew that they had no idea what was going on my their map movement… match ended 500 – 88 they win and I lost 20 RATING.

(My division placement was mid gold then t hat weekend after leagues started lost 7 matches lmao and now stuck in low gold and every time I make progress get shot back down just like the example I said. It is completely nonsense. This system is clearly in favor of duo teams as I know all my acquaintances (yea not friends and they don’t duo que with me lol but whatever I wish I had someone who wanted to dedicate duo que with me but yea anyway) who are in 1700 rating area and I clearly know aren’t even that amazing at Spvp (watched them play for years now) which is funny to watch them stay up there. Basically taking advantage of that fact of duo que > soloque by far and much more favorable to do anything in this league season.

Just a tip to anyone if the League Spvp upsets you more then it gives you enjoyment.. for your own well being quit it (like I decided) because you get nothing but stress in your life already you don’t need a gaming system that decides you need to do work for other people (lol funny like real world huh).
