The Feature Pack announcements will continue next week and some of them will definitely contain information that’s relevant to those of you who’ve been playing the game for long. We won’t tell you about them until the articles are live though, to keep the element of surprise!

This was 2 weeks of your blog posts and i never saw people that was really excited for your content patch. Most of us feels like you’re cheated by removing regular patches with LS and this CP just feels very-very small. There is almost no new meaningful content (hey, new backpacks from chineese client that no one cares about!) in this patch, and changes that should be implemented like a year ago if not even on game launch. Even on reddit people very very sad and dissapointed, which i never saw before (they’re always very fanboyish and hate any critique towards GW2). You’re doing something wrong. Accept it and change your strategy, or you will lose faith of your fans. By faith i mean cash.

Hey Chris, i know it’s kinda offtopic and everyone wants to discuss dungeons, FP and current hot topics, i still want to ask few questions that really affect many people that playing GW2.

So, first question is about Cyrillic support. Why it’s not there yet? I mean there is many people from Russia and CIS who plays and enjoy the game, but it’s really annoying to type in translate. It’s not helping for healthy communication in guilds. And anyway you added this button that hides foreign languages, so it would not affect people in map chat, who would not want to be affected.

Another question about Engineer’s hobosacks. This thread https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/engineer/Hobo-Sacks-A-Terrible-Fashion-Statement/first is 1 year old and since creation it’s always on top of subforum. It’s already have over 1k replies and i think it’s time to give it second red post with statement about situation. First red post said that you’re thinking about it, but since then you completely abandoned this thread and engineer players. I don’t think that in game that focused only on cosmetics it’s good to have such horrible visuals for popular profession.

Then again, is this where the QD Champ Train went to? If it is as toxic as it sounds, I’m willing to bet Gems that it is the remnants of the toxic element of the QD Champ Train.

It’s toxic not because of big group playing as they want, it’s toxic because of trolls. I was in QD train, and i run on Blinx farm. It’s always the same: someone just ignore all persuasion for group and kill champs in QD before zerg, or complete Blinx’s event. So essentially just wasted time of big group of players.

Need advise at sword build for PVE.

Why HGH not working with elixir gun?

HGH says that ALL elixirs give might. Utility gives might. Toolbelt gives might. Elixir gun skills (4 and 5) not give any might, although tooltip says that they’re elixirs. Is this a bug?

You sit there and are just like: “Fire!! … I said FIRE kitteng!!! FIRE ALREADY … aw kitten this s… whut POOF POOF POOOFFERRDIPOFOFFFF wtf is this latency!?”

They fixed that last patch, apparently it had two cooldowns, one global and one per ability, and both were not displaying properly. It’s rate of fire is still slow as molasses but its at least clear when you can fire now.

Well they said so but they didn’t. Still bugs around, and I definitly don’t have lags.

Really? I use it on the champ train, PvP, and occasionally in dungeons and I haven’t had any problems with it since the patch.

I’m not sure if you’re a bad liar, or just bad player.

I’m actually not against hobosacks by itself, but against their amazingly stupid visuals. They all looks the same with same colors, and they looks like made for some generic soldier NPC, not for player characters. I don’t get it why they just can’t redesign them so they could look kitten?

I believe that damage changes would be really small whatever you choose, so use what you like. And it also depends on runes. I use torment, but i think i would switch it for confusion runes when i decide to go in WvW.

Crossbows is really stupid idea, since Rifle > Crossbow > Bow.

We have Bows as classic weapons and Rifles as replacement for crossbows.

It’s not hard, since you can never actually use bank in LA and TP here (Norn start zone anyway have things more close to WP anyway). You also don’t need mystic forge for it, and you can do activities on your alts. Problem solved.

They really should implement something else. While any other profession have mobile summons (you can even pick up banners), we have stationary. This is just stupid, since we engineers. Even guardians know how to make objects to move, and we can’t fix it.
I think engis deserve golems as pets with same functionality, at least.

Afer playing with engi for 2 weeks, i have 3 main suggestions:

1. For god sake remove already this horrible hobosacks.

2. Make grenade 1st as on target skill. My fingers suffering, and main power coming still not from this skill, so why punish players?

3. Give already turrets or high damage, so they could do at least something for their 3 second lives, or give them much more health and make turret regen trait useful. Like let them heal 15% every 2 seconds, or like 7% every second. Just make turrets sustainable at least for 5-10 seconds of fight, so they could at least use their overheat abilities few times, not only on activation.

I’m total noob in sPvP and just tried it wth my engi. I tried grenades and flamethrower with elixir gun and i feel that i deal not enough damage and not hellping my team, also i die very fast even when focusing on toughness and con damage. My only negative with this is a reward. 3 stupid presents for this is just a joke. Paths getting very repetitive when you completed them several times and there is become no challenge. So why should i bother in repetitve and static JP for 3 gifts, if i can do more fun things?

1. Delete Trahearne from the game. Completely. He’s boring, he’s Necromancer who can use Greatsword, he looks just terrible and uninspiring. He’s just out of place.

2. Make pact as center of the story. Make player as new member of pact. If you need, make member of pact from your race die, it could add more actual drama to the game. Tequatl invasion on Lion’s Arch is good place for this.

3. Make the f***ing Zhaitan battle adequate!!! The hell i should fight 2 hours in dungeon for this mess?!

4. Make cutscene when pact drinks ale in tavern after celebration.

5. Everyone is happy now.

I love the idea of incorporating class into the personal story, and hopefully it will be implicated later hopefully with expansions. But there are certain choices that you can choose. I know some branches you can either do a full frontal assault or attack from the rear. But yeah, I would love some stealth missions.

You don’t get it. When you choose from what side to attack, you literally choose from what side to attack. Fight would be the same. There is no “right choice”. Anet policy to make everything the same, so no one could have any advantage in anything.

Yeah, i miss mounts too. For exploration game, this game really suffer from lack of exploration abilities. Even existing one like mesmer’s blink is useless for exploration. Such bad design.

If i can’t beat her today, i just give up. I’ve tried Warrior and can’t beat her because of cripple and no chance to get that much burst damage, to kill her in 7 seconds. Now i’m trying guardian and start understanding that i can’t beat her because: 1. i don’t see stupid red circles and 2. this camera kills me. Now i just try sword/blind build and if it’s not work, i just give up. I really don’t need this mini (because mini system in current state just stupid), i just want to accomplish killing hard boss. But if this boss can’t be killed just on player skill (yeah, take it, you need endurance regeneration and decent damage to do so, and this is not about player skill) and give me zero fun, i would not try to beat her again.

If you make that in Dark Souls you can dodge only 2 times in a row, you would die 100 more often. Entire DS combat based on stamina: block for heavy, and dodge for light wearer.

For me in DS hardest encounter was first human from DLC. He is just big and making mess on combat field. But he was still easy beatable if you can dodge right.

And overall basically in DS you could counter every enemy move. here you can’t. Nuff said.

Anyway as i said in other topic: not everyone could be an astronaut.

Seems like a poor complaint to me. The mechanics are there, just because you don’t see the boss casting a spell doesn’t take away from the fight. Besides, her physical attacks do compliment her mechanics (cripple in a fight where movement is key, and weakness when you have a time limit).

If boss would actually cast a spell, you can interrupt it or at least recover while she doing so. Liandri not just surrounded be insta killing clones, AOE that cover 90% of gaming field and orbs that can just push you to this AOE (which happened to me several times in first 5 seconds of fight) and clones. She continue attacking you by herself with huge cond. damage and cripple. And yes, she can blinks too.

What most of defending players not understand, that there is always would be some very hardcore things, and some people who can complete it. But this doesn’t mean that other people must complete it as easy, as the first half. That’s why not everyone accepted in astronauts.

You are misunderstanding what I am responding to. I am not talking about the bosses’ difficulty. The complaint that I say is poor is that; because Liandra’s physical attacks don’t have many mechanics, rather, most of her mechanics are in the form of situational awareness, she is a poor boss.

He is saying the boss fight is bad because you could replace Liandra with any vet and the fight would be just as hard. He is essentially saying that the environmental mechanics don’t count as part of the bosses own. It’s like complaining that Lupicus would be just as hard as a quaggan if the quaggan had all of Lupicus’ attacks/phases.

Yes, you actually could replace her with any other Vet and it would be as hard as she. She is just basic nightmare warrior or rogue, i dunno, with some overpowered abilities surrounding her.

But you are right, this is not main boss problem, but still if all her offensive mechanics would be part of her as character and would be implemented as core game mechanics (more powerfull spell – longer cast time and animation which could be mostly interrupted) this fight could be more enjoyable.

My own main complaint that there solo bosses just cheap more strong than character, and not always win just because this is MMO with poor AI and bugs.

Actually the developers did a great job… they were told to annoy the hell out of players and they did. It’s a game design issue – on designer side they are completely wrong in some cases. They have an illusion that kittening people over is fun, but in reality it’s not even remotely fun for players.

No, they’re not. There was some old FPS game called “Devastation” or something like that. Game by itself was pretty easy, but one of the last missions was designed exactly like this one in GW2.

Basically you need to escort some group of people from one point of level to another. But main problem was that there was huge amont with enemies, and some was with very strong weapons and with good armor. Fun part was that if 1 of your guys die, you lost this mission. And your guys aggro on everything, making every kitten ed enemy on level focus on them. So they can’t leave more than 10 seconds after leaving safe zone without enemies. I never finished this game.

So we are talking not about hard part of the game. We are talking about bad design and bad AI.

And to be clear on topic, it’s general game problem. For example: recent LS arenas. There is easy-harder-OMGHOWTOKILLTHAT-normal-harder-easy-OMGHOWTOSURVIVETHIS-harder-easyer-harder-harder-OMGWHATSTHEHELLISTHIS?! enemies.

That creature was put there specifically to be avoided. It’s on a long patrol path around the temple, and easy to avoid. In a similar fashion, if you stop to fight a patrolling knight, you’re likely to have another one wander in during the fight, then another, etc. Not every story step is “Destroy every enemy on the map”.

Oh no-no-no. This creature was put there to annoy people. Let me tell my journey through this guys (there was knight also) as warrior. I just run at them like i always run at things in PS. Then they’re one shot my whole NPC party and i managed to run away when quest continue. When i approach point i understand that my whole party must be there. So i went back and saw them again approaching to me. When they walk for like 40 meters from my party, i start res my party. And you know what? My allies run at them and start attacking them, and this abominaton one shot me and my party again, so there was nothing to do, just to wait around minute when they walk really far away, so i can res my party and with blessing of God continue this kitten mission.

What i can say? Designer or programmer made a bad work.

Lags make content unplayable.

So i can’t say that i’m huge fun of zerg cleaning of small arenas. But anyway, i can play it, i can accept hungreds of skills happening at once, i can accept FPS drops. What i can’t accept is stupid arena and content placemnt desighn. Who said that this would be fun to have somehow strategic Duels and midless zerg rush in 1 small location? This is just ridiculous.

Please, make duel arenas at least instance dungeons, so at least it could be playable before early morning or deep night when everyone sleep.

  • Camera.
  • No real way of making money except dungeons. And still no LFG tool.
  • New characters boring to train. There is no real reason to explore map second time. Why not make at least points of interest and vistas account wide?
  • Trading kinda boring. You always see minimum price and there is no way to sell items higher. I remember good old days of Runescape and it’s glorious trading.
  • Since there is no competition in getting of resources, loot and such things, market is flooded with items for very low prices.
  • Crafting somehow feels useless. Yes, you can make some exotics for sell, you need crafting for legendaries. But that’s all. You can get everything from TP very cheap, and only crafting purpose is for fast training alt characters.
  • Underwater combat is boring and really undone. And still there is too much underwater missions.
  • Reward-difficulty in many cases really crappy. No reason to kill veterans or champions (after patch no reason for killing veterans).
  • sPvP have no input in other, bigger part of the game. It’s just strange to see such thing in MMO.
  • Personal story just crappy. Yeah, it’s have some positive missions, but overall it’s even not feel epic or fun because of difficulty. Final boss fight just very bad design.
  • There is not that much new players, and some servers feels very empty. Why no trials at least for week, for starting location?

I am NOT a Hero

Hero is not title that you deserve by throwing some money at devs of MMO. Hero is style of life, when you helping other players in need. Probably Tyria never make parade in your pride, but some single guy or girl can remember you as person who become a Hero for them. And for me it’s more important to hear “thank you” from stranger, than from thousands useless NPC.

For me water combat is worst part. You will lose all your skills, which makes your character somehow unique, your DPS lower, and it’s hell hard to navigate in 3D environment. I just not understand why it’s important to remove every single utility skill while you underwater. I mean i understand why: you need to implement something, but you don’t have time and resources to make it equal to surface combat. But i don’t understand why to put so many missions under water, where some classes really become twice as least powerful as they’re on surface.

You’re not making any sense with this rambling.

First, let me point out that new players aren’t restricted from any content via gear, save for Level 10+ Fractals (yay Agony!). Content being hard is not a deal breaker, it’s a challenge. The “time wasting and overall non-profitable” is a personal opinion and personal problem. From an outside-looking-in perspective, the entire game is a “time waste”, but to those playing it…it’s a fun adventure, enjoyable game. Bottom line of my rambling [in this paragraph] is that there’s no disadvantage for new players.

Secondly, dungeons are getting gold rewards based on their difficulty and time it takes for completion . The gold reward is between 1-3g per each path based on it’s grade. So the “harder” ones are going to pay out more, encouraging players to attempt those paths.

Lastly, each path of each dungeon only rewards out once per day. This does encourage that players go to different paths and different dungeons if they want to continually gain rewards (the alternative is doing CoF pt1, wait until 5pm server reset, do it again…what a slow, timid, and rather mundane way of trying to obtain currency).

P.S. You’re completely ignoring Champion Loot addition to this patch, which complements the Dungeon revamp perfectly. Not only does it reward killing each boss (thus to discourage skipping/speed runs), but it also is a boon to open world content. Orr and Southsun Cove are crawling with Champions that I feel, come Tuesday, will be slaughtered by the 1,000’s in the name of fancy drops.

It’s funny because when i’m talking about difficulty in finding group, you think i’m talking about gearing up. Dude, gearing in this game is hell easy.

Also there is 8 dungeons, each have like 3 paths. it’s 24 ways of making gold. Do you really think that someone gonna farm anyhow hard path, when there is plenty of other options?

And more then, even completing several paths will take some hours to do so. It’s not your regular CoF p1, which you can complete in 10 minutes.

And we returning to what i said: it’s hell hard to see all dungeon content for new players, especially on low populated servers, because after week or so people already could find proper time/reward route for farming dungeons, and other paths will be mostly abandoned, if you’re not in guild of same casual enthusiasts as you are.

So Anet trying to solve grinding by implementing rewards per way completed. But overall it’s not solve problem. People already thinking about optimal ways for better time/reward. Overall this “fix” would only ressurect like third of ways, but other still would be forbidden.
And this is huge disadvantage for new players, who want to see game content, but can’t because some ways hard, time wasting and overall non-profitable.

I think proper way to implement this update not adding same reward for different paths (with slight difference), but adding for each dungeon and way it’s own different gold reward, and bonus gold/decent items after completing all 3 ways, and also some bonus rewards after completing next full dungeon, and then next etc.

In this way players would be motivated in completing full different dungeon, and not farming only fastest paths in different dungeons.

Norn’s doesn’t need any transformations. Norns must call this spirits as pets, not transform in them. There is no such thing as “Shaman”, but there are real totem spirits. Why can’t i call them? It would be soooo much more useful if they at least would have same skill set as this transformations.

Agreed. Norn racials must be probably some chill spell, some totem summon or some totem buff. Like bear for power, wolf for vitality, leopard for crit, raven for condition damage.

Racial utilities and elites must be useful for all classes and support class, not just put because every race need something.

Depending on damage that you take. High burst damage just melt your signed power, you can’t do anything to survive it. But medium constant damage makes signed whery good, especially when you use tank build.

I was just searching way to complete last mission )i don’t know that last mission is end game dungeon) and there was meta-event in Arah. I was lucky enoght to compelte it in zerg and find single LFG on site. We completed it, and now i think that most annoying part not finding a group for dungeon, but Zhaitan fight. kitten , this fight just most easy thing i ever see in game. You literally could complete it solo, and i really not understand wtf i need party and long raid in dungeon for this nonsense.

Just completed PS for first time. All i can say he’s most useless character i saw in any game.

He did nothing and even skip last fight because he think that growing some plants in cave in Orr is most important, than helping kill most dangerous creature in the world. And still my character praise him. At least most NPCs praise me instead of him. And most hurt part of this is understanding that my character so stupid to praise him, and every NPC is smart enough to understand that he did nothing, so they won’t praise him.

Current Warrior meta is good for fight, but boring. Someone says that last patches buff warrior, i say that they’re make him this 2-button guy and most easy class.

I’m also annoyed about Rampage status. No synergize with anything that Warrior have, less duration than Lich form, also not unique, most costly skill and have long CD. Just a joke, not a skill.

Is it brain dead as people make it out?

I think there’re 2 things about PvP: Class abilities and Critical thinking.

Class abilities means is how hard to learn all possible ability combinations to take maximum from your class for current build.
Critical thinking is about learning other classes, their possiblities and how to counter them.

From class abilities point Warrior really easy class to learn, since there is not that much really usefull skill for offensive role, and almost all main build use same skills. And no of warrior skills have anyhow hard mechanic. Hell, warrior even have only 1 combo field, so he really don’t need to learn much from combos. This is why warrior easy class.

But like any other class, from critical thinking point, to be master in offensive and defensive roles, you need to learn other classes and such things. But still, since ability point is kinda easy, class overall is easy.
