Warrior is by a comically massive margin the easiest class in the game to kite away from.
If you are fighting a melee tank class in a battle of attrition you have a gitgud problem, not a balance problem.
As has been stated numerous times, the people who desire 5 man are an extremely vocal minority. 5 man would benefit a microscopic group of players at the expense of legit everyone else.
The only way 5 man can ever be OK is if it was 100% impossible to be matched against anything other than other 5 mans. The moment 5 man is allowed to go up against solo queue is the moment matchmaking becomes completely broken.

The biggest problem with Path of Fire is it doesn’t seem to be trying to add anything useful to the game. GW2 PvP suffers from extreme spam issues and thus needs abilities that can counter and punish mindless spam better. The only new specialization to do this seems to be Spellbreaker, the rest are just random extra junk.
Take Renegade for example: interesting mechanics and new toys, but Revenant still suffers from poor choices in condition spam countering.
It seems like rather than understand the game and what could help it anets game designers just came up with ideas that “would be cool” rather than ideas that are actually needed.
I love how people keep trying to say DH is fine and falls off at later levels when the top player is a DH main and clearly doesn’t falloff at all.
What happens normally: If a person on your team leaves during a ranked match and stays DC long enough, you dont lose elo ( and you shouldn’t, the nature of PvP makes being down a man nearly impossible )
The problem: If you have a bunch of DCs during your placement matches, it still counts the lose and you still lose elo. This means it’s entirely possible to be greatly misplaced if a player gets consistently unlucky with 4v5 matches.
I decided to put this in bug reports rather than a thread in the PvP section, as basic common sense dictates that this is much more likely just an oversight rather than an intended feature.
1. Remove all passives. Incorporate necessary ones into active skills that use them.
2. Remove tab target – action camera is now default.
3. Increase all classes max endurance and regen by 33%
4. Using a melee weapon automatically grants access to an on demand frontal block that drains endurance while pressed
They need lower cd on every condi remove
Nah. Condi removal is fine with maybe the exception of revenant could use a buff.
They just need to lower the cast time on staff 4, that’s all I would ask. Renewing wave have 1 second cast time with 15 seconds cd, and it’s pretty much the only way to deal with a big stack of condis. It’s way too much when you’re under condi pressure, feels like 10 seconds.
Either that or make Malyx better.
The entire point of Malyx is to be condition based with resistance and a heal based on conditions, problem is the resist duration is way too low for the energy cost and has a cast time to boot. 1/2 cast time +30% energy for 2~3 seconds of resist is just not worth it in most cases.
They need lower cd on every condi remove
Nah. Condi removal is fine with maybe the exception of revenant could use a buff.
The problem is condi bomb skills are way, WAY too mindlessly spammable. They have almost no animation, hardly any cast time, very low cds, and many of them are even unblockable “just because” – like if an AOE instant cast skill wasn’t already BS enough they just HAVE to add unblockable on top of it for zero kitteng reason.
Condi skill in general are just easier to land and more consistent than their power counterpart. It’s interesting because anet was able to understand that instant cast horsesh1t was broken when it came to power stuns like headbutt, which they nerfed on warrior. But then they BUFF the exact same thing on a condi skill?
Anet needs a new balance team. One that actually understands skill based and interesting gameplay. Buttonmashing condi skills in not fun.
The Smurf thing has been fixed since Season 2…
no:
- alts are allowed
- queuing whith a far away ranked friend are allowed
smurfing is not fixed, they fixed for full team, but reintroduced with duosand another thing:

this, full random vs double duo… why????
I don’t think it matters how many times we keep explaining this to people. They still don’t get it.
As long as people can alt smurf duo queue will always be abusable.
Person with higher rank gets on an alt- boom. Match 100% manipulated. There is nothing anet can do about it.
This is why the queues must be separated. For every pair of players that legitimately just want to queue with a friend there will always be 5 other pairs that are exploiting the system to dishonestly misrepresent their mmr.
lol kiting warriors is so easy now. I just 1v2d a thief + warrior on my thief and the warrior was a literal non-factor.
This update was pure scrub pandering. Rather than encouraging players to learn how to avoid a class that was already easy to evade if you had decent reflexes and understanding of the class, anet just nerfed it so anyone can.
(edited by Master Ketsu.4569)
Sure, allow 5 man queue – but only vs 5 man queues.
This.
Anyone who wants 5-man but doesn’t want it to be a 5-man only queue just wants to be carried.
If you really do believe in 5-man you should have no problems with having to exclusively fight other premades. Anyone who tries to have one without the other is a hypocrite.
Doesnt the 2 God of PvP players both play DH? how many in top 250 in both season are DH players?
Yup. 50% of the leaderboard is thieves and guards, there are 0 mesmer players in the top 25, the number of rangers this season has gone down significantly, the number of revs in the top 100 has drastically increased (I don’t mind this), and I’m the only warrior main in top 25.
b-but warriors are OP because I can’t explode them fast enough! All the other classes die when I buttonmash 12345 in their general direction so warrior needs to be nerfed to oblivion.
Remove tab targeting from the game, the action camera is now default.
And I am being dead serious too. I use exclusively action camera even though I know it puts me at a disadvantage, because it makes the game x10 more rewarding and fun. AC mode adds depth that the game is currently missing.
Either that, or anet should add a buff when using AC to aim abilities so that it becomes the better option for skilled players and tab target mode would be the “training wheels” option.
Warriors counter is kiting. Their mobility is weak considering it’s a melee class.
If anet wants to nerf their survivability they will need to buff their dexterity, otherwise the class will become non-viable in higher play.
It’s kind of a “gitgud” issue to be honest. Players who understand what the cooldowns are on the few mobility skills warrior has can plan around them and easily kite. The only classes that really can’t permakite a warrior are guardian, engie, and necro.
Warhorn is definitely an inferior option these days. 95% of the time shield is so much more reliable utility.
It’s hardly even worth it to craft an ascended warhorn. Might as well just stick with exotic.
Is it NA? on EU we have 9 people with 1900+
That’s still pretty bad.

Notice something off? Nobody is in champion. No one. And at other times during the season we had only two. Normally this corrects itself as the season goes on, but S6 is strange – it seems to have gotten worse. With less than a month to go, S6 has a very real chance of ending with absolutely nobody in the champion bracket.
I’ve noticed when climbing ranks in this season especially, that every tier seems to be one lower than the last. Silver 1 players play like Silver 2, Silver 2 plays like Silver 3, Silver 3 feels like Gold, Gold 1 feels like Gold 2 and well you get the picture at this point. I generally hover between 1300 ~ 1450 which is also lower than last season, but really everyone seems to be lower. You can actually be on the leaderboard top 250 just by being mid Gold! That’s a thing this season.
Now technically this doesn’t really hurt matchmaking too much, but what it does is show that anets rank point distribution for winning/losing is off. The top 2% of players should all be in champion, not the top 0 ~ 0.001%. It proves the system is being too stingy with how many points it gives players for winning, or potentially too aggressive on taking points for losing. Either way, the algorithm could use some adjustments for S7 so this doesn’t happen again.

Really people should play a class to beat a class. Every time I have troubles with a class I learn to play it myself and see what others do.
Here is the reality about warriors: More so than any other class, warriors are countered by the simple act of movement.
Bad players: Doesn’t kite the warrior, gets dunked, complains on forums.
Good players: Realizes that kiting counters warriors hard. Doesn’t get dunked.
When I’m playing on my Warrior it’s extremely easy to tell when I am fighting someone who thinks warriors are OP or not. A Necro that just sits there and tries to outsustain the fight that I ultimately end up killing in less than 5 seconds… VS a Necro that actually watches my cooldowns, applies chill while kiting, boonstrips resist at the right moment.
You cannot beat Warriors by spamming skills at them. In many ways Warriors are similar to DHs in that the class is a “noob check” – you actually have to employ some kind of real strategy to beat them and can’t just 12345 your hot DPS build you got off metabattle. Just like how inexperienced players die to DHs because they stand in POB, inexperienced players die to Warriors because they don’t understand how mobility works in this game.

I honestly wouldn’t care if these changes were scrapped. They just create more unneeded confusion between PvE and PvP, and reduce options overall. The fact that condi builds get indirectly buffed doesn’t help either.
10 bucks says OP is one of those people that lets the Warrior dunk on him while using endure pain instead of just kiting him for 4 seconds like every not-bronzie.
So is this still happening?
Sounds like a great idea. I’m going to trade duo queue matches with my buddy on tanked f2p accounts.
And in duo q it treats you as if you both have the highest elo between you.
Which is yet another thing anet should fix.
Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. You are complaining that Duo Queue gets a handicap?
You are complaining that two people who can, most likely, use voice chat to gain an advantage have a slight handicap in rating?
Really? And i’m questioning your logic as someone who’s using duo queue himself. Even if my buddy and me are on the opposite sides of the map we have an advantage in terms of map awareness as we can relate, without typing it out ‘Hey, don’t come here, enemy is outnumbering us’ or whatever else is important.
Yes, we should be treated as the highest elo among us two because we basically kitten up the system.
You understood my post to mean exactly the opposite of what I actually meant.
That’s impressive.

SMITE ( moba by Hirez ) does something like this. If you get a team where you have noticeably higher rank than everyone else on your team, you will lose less for losing and win more rank for winning. It’s a fair tradeoff for being placed in a situation where you are expected to have to carry a team.
Thinking about it again, there really is no reason to delete generosity.
Save generosity!
pls don’t delete generosity.
Mending Warrior.
Mallyx Revenant.
DH Symbolic running both smite condition and CoP.

Sigil of agility change is a huge nerf IMO it was fine as-is.
At least you seem able to leave your bugged queue, I can’t even click leave and am stuck with a broken queue that will not pop and will not let me out of it no matter what I do ( relogging, zoning, changing characters, etc nothing works ) So I am basically SoL until anet fixes their game.
Really wish they would program a failsafe to prevent this like if a match wont start for X amount of minutes all players are automatically removed.
(edited by Master Ketsu.4569)
These are definitely better than the first pass.
Would still love to see a +5% damage from behind or something.
But I still feel like massive removal is the wrong direction. It would be so much better to just keep all the sigils we currently have and nerf the problem sigils ( Air, fire, etc ) while buffing some of the underused sigils.
(edited by Master Ketsu.4569)
Most importantly, there needs to be sigils that work well for other classes.
For example
sigil of sleight “increases damage dealt from the side or behind by 8%”
which would work nicely for a thief.sigil of judgement “increase your damage dealt by 3% +1% for every boon you have” ( maximum of 8% )
this would work nicely for revenantsIn this way you have control over the damage modifiers you receive, and aren’t at the mercy of whether or not your necro condi bombs a target or if your target is a boon heavy class or not. This promotes more reliable and less RNG gameplay.
Why is it that these sigils should be allowed up to 8%, when the other ones are capped at 5%? That’s the opposite of balance. This is creating sigils that are unquestionably better than alternatives, which is something that the balance team should strive to avoid
Their proposed two 5% passives are both bad and will never see serious play. They should be buffed to 8~10% along with adding this.

This. If they are really going with a massive sigil removal ( I think a lot of people are missing the part about how everything not listed is being removed. Not nerfed, flat out DELETED. ) In which case they need to make sure every class gets something.
Since everything not listed here is being removed these are absolutely terrible changes.
Generosity and Purity especially should not be removed. Buffing them would be nice, but removing them is bad for the game. And why is lifesteal being removed? Why are all crit effects removed?
I think you guys misinterpreted the community when people said they didn’t like rng. What is meant by this is people don’t like forced rng where many effects had no other option but to be on crit. This means asking for a crit version and a non crit version. Removing the crit option entirely is missing the point. People want more options not less.
And then there are those new passive sigils. Those have got to be legit the worst sigils in the game. No one will ever run those.
Overall a big thumbs down.
(edited by Master Ketsu.4569)
Why no sigil suggestions
Posted this in another thread but here you go:
Sigil of Cunning
-Increases damage by 10% when attacking from behind or the side.
Reasoning:
Currently this passive is locked behind rune of the thief forcing limited use. It would be great to see it as a real sigil to encourage more skillful positioning and build diversity.
Buff Generosity/Purity to make this a better access to soft condi countering.
Consider adding a new +10% damage when attacking from behind/side sigil to encourage more skillfull positioning.
Sigil of accuracy sucks and could use a buff.
Sigil of rage could use a tiny buff.
That’s about it.
As has been stated many times before, the point of these changes were to bring the PvP rewards down to PvE. The system they had for season 5 was flat out OP, effectively giving a full set of ascended armor for practically free.
BiS gear isn’t supposed to be easy to get. I understand you feel cheated because you didn’t get to take advantage of it but the reality is it never should have been that easy in the first place.
Honestly even with the Ascended nerf it still gives a decent amount of flat gold.
Nerf 5
Leave 1 and 4 alone
buff 2 and 3
Currently staff is perfectly viable, the problem is the 5 ( Vault ) is just way too good and makes all the other skills on that bar a waste of initiative by comparison.
Is this thread bugged?
A better name for it is “Scrub pandering” -people who want to win but don’t want to improve themselves to do so.
For the most part you are right about hard counters. They are bad for the game. Nothing should ever be a blowout. Good example is warrior vs DH. DH should have the upper hand in that fight but a skilled warrior can outplay a lesser skilled DHs blocks and win that engagement anyways. Every counter to every class should be like that IMO.
If Anet ever made ranked PvP 5-mans only, PvP would die instantly that day and queues would be hours long (yes I’m exaggerating a bit, but it would make it so no PvEer comes out in numbers).
This.
Every single time solo queue was a non option, the queues died. And not just in GW2, but pretty much every single queue based PvP format in every single MMO in the history of gaming that did something like this always saw their queue time shoot through the roof.
A 5-Man queue is absolutely fine – AS A SEPARATE QUEUE. Honestly there should be two queues one for solo another for teams-only.
But having 5-Man replace solo queue? Absolutely not. Anyone who thinks that is a good idea needs to check their history and check your facts because this isn’t even something that is up for the debate. It’s a verifiable, repeatable fact that you absolutely cannot have a sustainable PvP community without solo being viable. The people who think it’s a good idea only believe so because they are living in an echo chamber surrounded by their PvP guildies. The overwhelming majority of the population will simply not queue.

I dunk warriors with condi all the time. Berserker’s stance is 9 seconds of resistance on a 60 second cooldown. Then healing signet is emergency 6 seconds, which means they have almost no healing for the next 20. If you can’t take advantage of a 45 second window you have a gitgud problem not a class problem.
FYI this is another shining example of you needing to play a class before crying it’s OP. I play warrior all the time, and have no troubles with warrior when I am on other classes because I know what warriors weaknesses are. Warriors have trash mobility with poor disengage. You can often just make them pop their immunities, kite them for a few seconds, then return to kitten on them.
OP is probably one of those necs that mindlessly spams all their condi skills onto a warrior at once and then cries when the war pops resist. You are bad. And you will continue to be bad until you learn to play a class before blaming the class. If you had actually bothered to learn warrior you would realize it has some of the most obvious animations and cooldowns in the game.
A lot of what you listed is straight power creep instead of nerfing what is overtuned.
Pretty much this was what I was going to say.
A lot of the suggestions here are the opposite direction. There is honestly too much stability and other forms of passive immunities in the game we don’t need more we need less.
Holy fireball kitten.
This thread is a shining example as to why we need to be able to see PvP rank badges in the PvP forum. So much misinformation.
Biggest one being people saying thief is bad in 1v1. Now there’s a surefire way to advertise your bronze level MMR if there ever was one. Have you even faced a single Legendary/Plat thief? Do you even step foot in the 1v1 dueling servers? Just because you only face bronze/silver thieves who die to stupid kitten like shield bash doesn’t mean the class is bad.
Some of these are good, but #1 is important. HoT and F2P effectively made sPVP a form of pay2win. Lots of free players end up just quitting entirely when they find out the only good meta builds for their class pretty much REQUIRE Elite specializations due to how broken they are.
The game needs faster balance updates, 4-5 balance updates a year is unacceptable imo.
Nah we don’t need more balance updates we need better ones.
I would trade the last five updates for a single update that actually returned some skill to the game and actually addressed the bullkitten passives and other get-out-of-jail free crap.
-Buff to defensive skills that make the player choose between attacking and defending, and a nerf to defensive skills that allow both at the same time. This is IMO the biggest offender in GW2 right now contributing to mindless gameplay and unfair builds.
Like for warrior: Buff shield stance but then nerf endure pain .
Basic problem with Hammer is the CC it has doesn’t make up for its direct inferiority to GS in everything else.
GS = Great mobility, Excellent damage
Hammer = Great CC, meh damage
The big killer of Hammer is Warriors have a harder time fitting mobility into their build than CC. Mace/Shield has plenty of CC and twice the utility of Hammer. Headbutt exists. etc. This means that Hammer has two downsides for one upside, when there are other options that give two ups for one down.
It’s also useless against good players due to the obvious animations “Hold still while I do this nearly 2 second long obvious knockdown animation pls don’t dodge it”. Yeah, no. It works in Bronze island. It fails everywhere else for obvious reasons.
