Giving that I run with pugs 99% of the time, I only want polite players and….what else…oh no “one language” players, the absolute worst elitists kittens in the game.

Agreed. I care very little about what class you bring but far more about how pleasant you are if talking. If everyone is silent the entire run (usually not the case), that’s fine by me.

Biggest PUG pet peeves: 1) Players who essentially order you to slot a certain skill or weapon set. (Worry about your own class buddy.) 2) Players who spend more time ordering others around in the middle of a fight then actually playing their class well. (These players also have the highest likelihood of blaming everyone else but themselves if the party wipes.

For as hard as Teq is to complete, I think the rare weapon skins are sufficient. The loot table’s RNG however makes doing that fight a waste of time to try.

So from my understanding, the reward level is irrelevant unless you’re playing in a higher level, correct?

I.e. reward level 36 plays at a fotm 2, will get rewards based off of 2, and not as if he was in 36, right?

Correct. It would be ridiculous if people were allowed to run FotM level 2 and get level 40 rewards .

Are non infused back items and rings going to have to be put in the forge still to infuse in order to unlock the new upgrade slot? If not (unlocked by default), that is a huge waste of 250 ectos to all players with an infused fractal capacitator.

This is the question I asked two days ago multiple times in that horribly toxic thread recently closed from general chat. I want to know if the crafting requirements for the extra slot are the same for others after the change.

Fractal levels above 30 to be reset?

Current concerns:

1) Will 30+ be given compensation? Will 50+ be given extra compensation? What will it be?
2) Please explain what happens to infused backpieces. Was infusing it with 250 ectos a complete waste? If so, will those be given back?

I will personally keep posting these once or twice every page until a dev responds to them (even though I really only care about the second one and it’s getting lost in the QQ of the first).

*For a good comparison regarding the AR change on infused back pieces:

250 ectos is a chunk of change. We’ll say that it makes up 75% of the mat/gold investment to created an infused back item (that number is inaccurate, I just used an easy number for sanity’s sake).

What does 75% mat/gold investment of a legendary weapon look like? What if tomorrow ANET makes an announcement that crafting legendaries is far easier. 1) They remove the Icy Runestone requirement. 2) They remove the Mystic Clover requirement. 3) They remove one of the Gifts (Making only three required). 4) They remove the precursor requirement.
How would you feel about that if you literally finished your legendary a week ago?

LFM 48 ping gear ping leaderboard guards only

Considering people don’t ping gear now, I rate this outcome: highly unlikely

Most leetist Fractal groups just ask for your AR level or kick undesirable classes outright. This won’t change.

As someone who has done hundreds of 48s with PUGs, the only time I’ve ever seen AR questioned is if someone is going from 100% HP -> fully dead during a boss encounter. Also, the only time I’ve ever seen class composition become an issue is when the group needs a Guardian in which case you’re getting the boot regardless of whether you’re a Ranger or a Warrior.

Maybe the groups I’ve encountered are “wannabe leetist” as I tend to PUG in the mid-late 30’s. I do lots of them as well.

I literally just created an Infused Quiver of a Thousand Arrows. Are they removing its inherent +5 AR? This is such a dumb bish move if they do.

You will still have the +5 AR. It will just automatically fill the AR infusion slot they’re adding like what the preview stated.

So what you’re saying essentially is that everyone after me gets to simply place a +5 AR infusion to achieve the same stats as my Infused Bow…without contributing the 250 ectos to do it. Correct? And this seems acceptable to you?

They probably thought everyone would do fractals back in November 2012 and decided to create an eco/tier 6 item sink with ascended mystic forge recipes.

Since no one is doing fractals anymore and ecto/tier 6 has increased in cost by over 10 fold it becomes very impractical for people to grind 100 gold worth of mats for 5 agony resistance.

Don’t you agree?

Um, I don’t really agree obviously as I just recently DID said grind. It’s not an argument of practicality. There is nothing practical about grinding for legendaries that give zero “practical” boosts (just an example). It’s about getting a top-tier item that a minority of people have. It’s easy to get 30-35 AR. That push to 50 AR is supposed to be much more difficult/time consuming. Two weeks worth of grinding after work to buy 250 ectos. BAM, sorry brah. You should have jsut right-clicked that stack of ectos and selected “destroy.” Would have been the same outcome.

Infinite knockdowns

in The Nightmare Within

McFly.2134

I loved GW1 to death, but my BIGGEST complaint about the game: sometimes you had to completely revamp your ENTIRE skill bar between every single level. It became really really annoying to me having to research a whole new skill bar just to complete one quest and progress the storyline. Sometimes I didn’t have half the suggested skills, so I had to hunt those down. When you finally get the “suggested” skills and complete the instance. BOOM! You hit another level that requires a COMPLETELY new skill bar in order to be efficient. Hugely annoying.

This wasn’t a problem for most of early to mid-game but it literally became standard by endgame in all the expansions that you needed to change skillbars repeatedly depending on the instance. People who disagree with this were either playing an OP class or assisted by a semi-full group of friends. I really hope GW2 isn’t starting to create content with this goal in mind.

P.S. Some people like this type of gameplay (more power to them). I, on the other hand, find it terribly tedious as I can’t just sit and enjoy content if I have to stop and research skill builds for a day or two in order to experience more.

Seeing names is too easy, Bug or not?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: McFly.2134

McFly.2134

It’s a client option to see enemy names. You probably just had it off before. Also, server side culling was removed, which was hiding the names in certain circumstances before.

This game is too zergy to not have name templates. I could understand if the new map was already out and it was capped to about 20-30 players per side, but with 100+ people on each side you have no other way of differentiating them.

Edit: It is a bug, however, that since the culling update enemy names appear even with the relevant option turned off. But this only seems to occur in WvW. That update introduced about a few dozen different graphical bugs that have not been fixed. nor have the developers shown any intention of fixing them.

The only one I know they fixed for sure was NPC names always being shown in PvE.

I don’t know. One of my fondest memories of Lord of the Rings Online PvMP was wandering around solo doing whatevs, seeing a zerg on the horizon and being like “KITTEN”, duck behind the trunk of a tree that is JUST big enough to cover the body, see the zerg come close yet divert away in another direction, step out and laugh triumphantly. That kind of thing is never even close to possible in GW2. LOTRO handled it fine without nameplates being on ALL the time. You just tab-targetted when you got close. GW2 could handle this in so many different ways. Heck, you can see people’s nameplates through walls and obstacles in GW2. Complete and utter joke.

There’s nothing Legendary about the current Legendaries, no.

The moment they could be put up on the Trading Post, their Legendary status disappeared.

Simple solution: rename them. Instead of “Legendary,” rename them to “Mythical” or “Fabled.” Then people won’t be crying “There’s nothing mythical or fabled about my journey to get it!”

(In case you didn’t get the metaphor, the word “Legendary” is NOT supposed to describe your journey to get it. It describes the weapon as being legendary in lore and history, a named weapon that is famous in Tyria. So yeah, any argument about this word’s use is irrelevant.)

I agree though that they lost worth/significance once they were put on the TP. -1 point ANet

Vision Crystals are a small, though significant, portion of an Ascended weapon, and the only part that can’t be short-cut with money.

My post was intended to just to point out a problem in the argument so far.

Not to harp on specifics much more but to semi-correct you, per their argument Vision Crystals are still something able to be “shortcutted” through money. Vision Crystals are crafted through a combination of skill points and ascended mats. Those skill points can be achieved at a faster/more efficient rate with store bought items. Those ascended mats and crafting levels can be achieved at a faster/more efficient rate through store bought items. Thus, Vision Crystals are “shortcut-able” vis-a-vis their requirements to build.

This comment is only meant to qualify their argument. Of course the whole of their argument is still only strong if the cash shop is the ONLY place to find these shortcuts (boosters). Which it’s not. You can earn them in-game naturally. So the argument is weak. I still disagree with the overall QQ about it being hard to make money.

After I crafted them, I got the timer saying I had 3+ hours until my next available crafting time. I left the game for a few hours and logged back in at around 5:30pm PST. Ascended weapons.

To get your weaponcrafting skill to level 400, you have to spend 30g.

http://www.gw2crafts.net/weaponcraft_fast.html

After that, to get to 450, you have to spend an extra 40g.

http://www.gw2crafts.net/weaponcraft_450.html

To get that last 50 levels, you have to spend 140g.

http://www.gw2crafts.net/weaponcraft_400.html

Real life money can be converted to gems. Gems can be converted to gold. Gold can be converted to Ascended weapons. Ascended weapons is the advantage over poor players.

Guild Wars 2 is definitely not pay2win.

The point, it’s strong with this one. I hadn’t even considered the ascended weapons, which are a huge advantage in small scale battles. The disparity will only grow with ascended armour.

Every person that posts this “expensive crafting” note always glosses over the point that you can get ascended weapon chest from Fractals level 26+. At the higher levels they drop pretty frequently compared to other things. Fractals aren’t hard. By the time you get to level 10 where the agony kicks in, you “SHOULD” already know the mechanics of every fractal (unless you were powerleveled through which I notice a lot of people are). All the ascended trinkets with agony resistance I’ve gotten are through the course of doing said fractals. You earn them along the way.

Regardless, yes crafting from level 400 to 500 is expensive. Are you surprised? At launch, we had people at level 400 crafting on the first day. Crafting was a lolfest that honestly was a waste of time as all other ways to get exotics were vastly cheaper and quicker.

This thread can be boiled down to one sentence: “I researched the wiki and realized I couldn’t achieve the most rare gear in a day’s worth of work which makes me bitter and I want to complain about it.”

Honestly, I’m not rich. My highest crafting level is Weaponsmith 460 (working on it). I make about 6ish gold every evening after work and gym. I immediately spend it all at TP for recipe materials that are used int eh building of whatever I’m working toward at the moment. My nightly schedule is this: a daily fractal run at 30+, 2 paths AC, 2-3 paths CoE, 1 path CoF, 1 path HoW, cycle through maybe 4-5 world bosses, mine for materials, craft a bit, run around leveling an alt. All dungeons I do with pugs, some efficient, some not. All of this is done in maybe 3 or more hours. In one night, my inventory repeatedly fills with blues, greens, at least 5-10 yellows, and some exotics.

I don’t want things handed to me or I’ll have nothing to work toward (since there is no other content in the game really other than grinding for cosmetics). Maybe look at your own game play style and figure out what you’re doing that makes you not able to gain money.

McFly.2134

for the love of good taste and immersion…

Ugh. I really wish “immersion” was a censored word that got “kittened” out.

Why?

Because the term is consistently thrown around in a pretentious and hackneyed attempt to give some objective sounding validation to one’s personal taste.

The term should be used when talking about consistency in a setting and one’s completely subjective feeling about how that consistency involves one in the fiction’s lore but instead we get people talking about how things that are completely consistent with a broadly inclusive fantasy setting are breaking the “immersion” of the game. Holographic wings and the like are completely consistent with a fantasy fiction that includes magic holograms, glowing armors, magically flaming weapons, giant cat people, little miniature pet dragons, etc. If people don’t like the wings, it sure as kitten isn’t a matter of versimilitude or consistency in the setting and thus should not be an issue of “immersion”, only personal taste. It would like hating facial hair, and despite the fact that it makes perfect sense for there to be men with beards in the game, you claim that “immersion” is broken whenever you see them.

Umm…but that’s exactly why wings shouldn’t be in the game. Not only do they serve no purpose besides aesthetic value, they make no sense in Tyria. I wasn’t talking about my personal tastes at all, I actually like one of the wing sets. I was talking about how they don’t fit into the world.

Um, if we as human beings had the ability IN THE REAL WORLD to accessorize with functional holographic or realistic flapping wings on our backs, a large percentage of the population (especially anime and sci-fi folks) would try it out and love it. The sheer fact that wings on your back does not break immersion in the REAL WORLD negates any argument about it not fitting into a fantasy world where the technology is possible. Yeps.

It would be ridiculous imho to make a collection slot for back items. If you do that, you might as well make one for every piece of armor and town clothing in the game. While we’re at it, lets remove the need for inventory bags altogether by making every droppable item in the game go straight to a collection slot. nothx

That sounds like the “wardrobe” function that people have been asking for, unless I’m mistaken. Why do you think that wouldn’t be a good idea? (I for one would love it.)

Think about it this way: Take your basic level 80 exotic set. Exalted Light Armor for example. How many different derivatives are there? (ie: Rampager’s, Carrion, Berzerker’s, Cleric’s, etc.) Are you suggesting we make a collection slot for every single armor combination in the game? The list would be horrendously long.

Now think about back items. How would you suggest they do this? Have a skin library for every single back item in the game? What about back items that don’t have skins? Are you suggesting they be recognized in the programming code as something else OTHER than collection back items, while still being recognized as back armor? What about skins that have already been transmuted onto armor? Are they going to no longer be allowed to “dock” in the collections tab? Should every back piece be account unlocked like the Zenith weapons? Should every piece of armor be account unlocked like the Zenith weapons? You do realize there is a reason why the achievement armor can’t be dyed. Are you willing to risk all armor not being dyable just for the privilege of docking them in a collection tab?

It’s ridiculous simply for the fact that it’s a huge huge HUGE amount of unnecessary work to fix something that is unbelievably already working fine as is. It’s simply a waste of time imho to focus so many resources on something so trivial. This wouldn’t “just” be a quick fix to complete lol.

The game is supposed to be geared around collecting cosmetic items. Don’t be fooled by the minor gear treadmill they introduced, this is still a cosmetic reward game.

I personally bought single pieces of the different cultural armor. The last FULL set of cultural armor I wore was tier 1 human (and that was my first character). If I ever get flush with extra gold, I will buy the rest of the cultural armor ONLY for the achievement. Not interested in the looks of most of them.

Yes, thank you for the instructions on how to destroy an item but as I stated previously:

  • “No I can’t destroy them cause hey, I did earn them.”
  • “Now If we could stack up these skins in some sort of back item tab and make use of them when an appropriate situation arises(like Minis), then I say bring on the Back Items(wings)”

The reason I submitted an alternate solution of just destroying them, was because that tends to be an absolute finality in this game(No Takebacks).

As I stated I wouldn’t mind having them available for use if and “when an appropriate situation arises” or maybe, 6 gods forbid…I change my mind.

Destroy = No option for future reconsideration

Holding onto items that you’ll likely not ever use is your own choice. It’s also your own choice to free up inventory space or purchase more. If you choose to destroy an item, accept the consequences of never getting that item back. If you can’t live with those consequences, then you’ve chosen to hold onto them and your only option really is more storage. The system in place is fine as it is and devs need their attentions focused on far more pressing issues.

It would be ridiculous imho to make a collection slot for back items. If you do that, you might as well make one for every piece of armor and town clothing in the game. While we’re at it, lets remove the need for inventory bags altogether by making every droppable item in the game go straight to a collection slot. nothx

The one getting missed is in MOunt Maelstrom. I almost skimmed right over it, the Dulfy notes are not clear. That is where it is.

How is it not clear? I mentioned there are 4 shards at the top for Maelstrom. The first two rows contains shard 1-3 and the third row contains shard 4.

I even marked it as Krait Obelisk 1-3 and Krait Obelisk 4.

If it helps, I can include the 4th one in the map for 1-3 as well but I divided it up initially since the 4th location was discovered later and closer to another waypoint

I found every single one of them last night at 9pm pst (before any more recent edits) using Dulfy’s detailed descriptions. No problems and no worries.

Solution: release an expansion that allows for weapon dying. I’d pay real money for the option.

Yeah, I see far more green weapons, silver weapons, and brownish (tribal, etc.) weapons than I do blue. I should know, I’ve specifically hunted for weapons to match my very specific blue color scheme. Even among the blue weapons we’re offered, a lot of them are either ugly-themed or an unpopular hue of blue imho.

Heck, even these new thistle weapons are blue AND green, making them completely useless to people of blue themes that don’t also have green in their scheme (pukes).

I wish they would come out with some more diverse skins for underwater breathers. From day one, I was already tired of swimming around pretending to be Bane.

No one likes these find X at Y achievements, they’re nothing but filler and a waste of time. All 24 points had the same mobs, 1 vet + 1 normal that spam conditions. It could of been 5 to 50 and it would be as equally tedious. They didn’t need to do 24 honestly.

Yeah, I would have had a far better time finding 5 of them, but having to do 5 very different obstacles to get them (like a JP for one or hide and seek game, iono). Would even have been better if I’d needed to take down 5 unique champions to do it.
