Only the four original maps that came with Heart of Thorns are eligible to give you a Class Cache. Bloodstone Fen is not even listed as a Heart of Maguuma Map, so any dailies related to it such as Heart of Maguuma Lumberer, Heart of Maguuma Miner and Heart of Maguuma Forager can not be completed in it.
You are correct regarding the OP’s question about the Class Cache.
However, you can absolutely get the Heart of Maguuma dailies in Bloodstone Fen. I jump there with my portal scroll everytime for lumberer, miner or forager.
A lot of these replies seem focused on the PVE perspective versus the WVW perspective … I think that needlessly clouds the issue.
For myself, I used to play WVW. I enjoyed it and played daily. However, I no longer enjoy it. The friends that I fought alongside have quit long ago and the game, in my opinion, has changed for the worse. That’s just my opinion but it’s mine nevertheless.
Right now, I’m sitting on tens of thousands of Badges of Honor. I have already spent my time in WVW. I have already played more than enough to buy many, many Gifts of Battle … but now I can’t. For some reason, the decision was made to invalidate the time I already invested. This is what seems unfair to me.
Currently the only thing preventing me from finishing C&C is my Gift of Battle. Now I need to go into WVW and pick away at the reward track by getting the dailies.
True, no one is forcing me to do this, (anymore than any of us are ‘forced’ to make any Legendary). The complaint though is that I must to “redo” a task I’ve done countless times over, in order to accomplish this goal.
The mystic barricade unlocked for me, but I still had that in my bank.
The machined shield I salvaged before starting the Mesmer collection, the machined staff has not unlocked.

This must’ve been patched. I made Glint’s Bastion. When I completed it I salvaged the machined shield because it’s only an Exotic.
I just started my Mesmer’s Elite spec and learned I’m to make a shield again. The machined shield is not unlocked in the Horologicus collection.
Side note: I still had the mystic barricade so that did unlock.
You could be me … you could’ve completed Glint’s Bastion, then deleted the machined shield because it’s Exotic.
… THEN started your Mesmer’s elite spec and realize you need to make a shield again ….
… awesome!!!
I posted this in General discussion because of how it affects the back pack progression … problems should’ve posted it here :P
Came here hoping for some guidance. Was just pugging a Tier 4 and after 7 wipes the group disbanded.
It felt like we were missing a vital mechanic. We kept moving in a circle to gain the wisp buff but we never got him below 90%. Staying alive wasn’t incredibly hard for the most part except when he had a few invisible (on our screens at least) attacks.
We’d be fighting and then … 3 of us would be insta downed. We’d quickly rally and rez and keep moving til it happened again. He also does this charge that doesn’t have an ‘end’ tell. So we dodge when he’s close, but he HUGE so we’d still be in his hitbox.
The section with adds didn’t make a whole lot of sense. He was invulnerable but the adds were trash, but killing them did nothing. Then a champ oakheart spawned among the adds and it would go invulnerable at times too …
Hints? Pointers?
Title.
I’m still working on my Tier 2 Legendary back pack and currently can’t progress.
Side note, I’m a little bugged at myself for not doing this sooner … several of these Challenges are significantly harder now.
15 Charrs agree with this …
I’ve now been disconnected 3 times in the last hour. Once while in the circle while capturing a tower in WVW, once exactly when the choppers arrived in VB. The last, almost immediately upon relogging.
What the heck is up? I think I can count on one hand the amount of disconnects I’ve had in the last 3 years … this was absurd.
I like this thread.

This is a business decision that’s unlikely to change. While it’s true that we used to have buffs for everyone in the guild, it’s also true we never had free to play players before. The free to play Guild Wars 2 is more of an unlimited demo than an actual full game. Anet isn’t allowing people to be free to play players out of the goodness of they’re heart. The idea is to convert free to play players to paying players. And while some people might think it’s cheesy to do this and not join, more people will likely join.
What are you talking about?
Just because someone doesn’t buy HoT doesn’t make them F2P … I have several friends I’ve played with for years that simply don’t have the expansion. They used to get guild buffs …
Maybe cause they aren’t really in the office until Monday? Easier to post on reddit then on business stuff?
Why would they need to be in the office to post here? Clearly that doesn’t stop them from posting elsewhere.
Sorry … White Knights are immune to reason and logic.
Is it that hard for them to re-input the animations?
No, it’s not. It’s not a bug issue, it’s a ideological one.
This.
The stated ‘reason’ has proved to be false, as many have pointed to the myriad of other ‘immersion breaking’ actions in cut scenes that have been left in the game.
I think I’d have less an issue with the continued silence on this change if they hadn’t begun this by lying to us.
For some reason there’s always those that must be ‘First!’ … I usually give them the benefit of the doubt the first time and explain the process. Tell that the zerg scales up the doors and everyone (including them) get more loot. Since the time it takes to do a solo opened door and a zerg opened door are dramatically different, most times that’s good enough to stop someone. Very few continue doing it just to troll.
As for opening The Skeleton/Mummy door at the same time as the Count … that’s me. The Vet will absolutely help take down the Count. This is usually more noticeable if I’m on a smaller map, and the group is small, as a zerg doesn’t really need the help.
My best Lab story is when the Horror spawned NW and 3 of us kited him to the Count. The Horror ATE HIM ALIVE … we tagged from a distance so as not to aggro him and then cleaned up the half health Horror when their fight was finished. Again, not that big of a deal when the zerg is large, but there’s definitely a logic for some times.
This would be hilarious if the situation wasn’t so depressing.

Couldn’t help but remember this ridiculous thread upon reading the twitch notes.
“Gift of Fortune/Gift of Exploration not being used in new legendaries. Gift of Exploration is for map completion in Central Tyria and not required for new legendaries which require only world complete in the new HoT zones. After HoT ships, we will be add a salvage table for Gift of Fortune so you can salvage the parts and get back all the components you can put in the new Mystic of Fortune.”

Update 2.0: download came to a crashing halt about 20 min ago. It’s now at 0 kb/s with 41k files left. It’s stopped juuuuust this side of ‘Playable’ … so now I think I’m being trolled.
(Yes, I’m saying Anet hates me personally … discuss amongst yourselves)

I think I’m gonna catch up on some reading … anyone seen my copy of War and Peace?

Seriously … this is getting old.
2 weeks, on the front page the whole time. Anet has yet to acknowledge this.
BG here, my Alt is in FA … never thought I’d ever see the day they’d be in this position.
I got to experience this crazy week from both sides (not at the same time, of course). All I want to add to what the awesome posters above said, is that I was impressed with how both servers conducted themselves. On both map chat and TS, it was practically a clinic on sportsmanship.
It was tonnes of fun, thanks a lot.
Not sure you actually read his reply if you
A: missed the point that paying $100 IS ridiculous… which is why the expansion shouldn’t cost more than what they priced the entire game for a matter of days ago.
B: can only see one argument… (he even lettered them for you …)
It’s 2 gold now? Why do I have a memory of it only being 1 gold? Business must be lucrative!
I gotta ask, what game did you come from?
I came here from SWtOR and I found the controls so frustratingly different I stopped playing. After a few months of my friends telling me daily how much better the gameplay was I came back here for a second try.
Turns out it wasn’t the controls, it was just what I was or wasn’t used to.
I recently poked my head back in to SWtOR and the exact reverse of my problem happened.
How many missed the beta that had the portal?

I’ll add my name to this list. Through a mix of work and a really crummy Murphy’s law crap, I was able to log on for exactly 9 min of the last time slot.
That 1 WP looked colourful, tho a bit dark.
I am the HoT master.
I voted for Graidy as well. Doesn’t seem to make sense to judge a clearly selfless man by the actions of his daughter …
Considering what we now know about the Sylvari …
Well … if you’re right, my guildie who claims to have 4 mill gold is a liar.
Yeah that pet and barrage combo are brutal against afk players and npc’s. Their only real weakness are players that don’t stand still….
I +1’d this, but still had reply cause it made me chuckle.
Am I wrong in assuming he was talking about a countdown to HoT?
This ^^^.
Was there a management change, or a company wide directive that changed the focus of GW2?
It feels that over the last 6 months, I’ve been deluged with these in-game notifications, and emails pushing pvp. I play a little pvp here, but it’s usually for the easy dailies.
I play GW2 because its an MMO. I’ll turn on my Xbox if I want to go head to head with someone in a balanced, skill based fight.
What notebene and Electro said …
I have stacks of tomes and small xp boosts, but I’d rather learn the character I’m building. A level 80 class, that I know nothing about is useless to me.
Plus, with the new trait system, I can unlock many of the traits by world completion. World completion also often puts me in the ‘right place at the right time’ for those trait unlocks that require a specific event. In the long run, I spend less gold on the character, while learning how to play it.
I don’t view it as a race, I actually like playing in the GW2 world. Having said that, my last alt I leveled was a necro, and it took me just under a week. Taking it slow, really isn’t that slow at all.
Victus, while you may have some solid points regarding Gem to gold conversion, I’ll leave any responses regarding that to those who’ve actually done it, as I’ve never bought a single gold with Gems.
I did however have to comment on your harvesting and your WP’ing costs comments.
You’re way off.
I play tops an hour or two each day. A good portion of that time is spent getting my dailies in pvp or wvw (they seem the quickest). Depending if I’m working on a particular achievement or there’s an event like there’s been in SW and Dry Top lately, I may spend some time doing that. The rest of my time is spent running a route in Orr harvesting everything.
As you can see, I’m not hard core in any shape or form. I do the odd dungeon and enjoy the little gold boost it gives to my day. What I harvest allows me to craft the odd money making item depending on the current market. I also sell any mats that I have in excess of 4 stacks. I’m quite the casual, yet I make minimum 3 gold a day. I’m currently well over 1000 gold.
In SW for instance, the average item looted is over 1 silver. Talking strictly about greens and blues, I salvage everything light, and vendor everything else. Those trash items drop like rain. WP’ing costs are tops in the mid 3 silver range. I’d say the average cost is under 2 silver. That means for very WP I do, all I need to do is kill 2-3 mobs to break even.
If you’re farming there as you say for any extended time … how are you possibly losing money? How poor is your route planning that you could possibly be WP’ing that much?
+1 OP
The official stated reason is a double standard at best, and a complete misdirection at worst.
Please bring the animations back.
So … they removed the female stretch because it “ruined the immersion in cutscenes” … yet they give us the absurdity of running through our cutscenes as airplanes for April Fools.
Logic?
Still waiting …
My bad, I should’ve done a more recent search. I only knew about the closed thread a few months ago.
Still after reading the more recent thread, this all seems quite suspect. If it was a bug, why were the animations of other genders/races not nerfed as well?
It appears the official response is being less than truthful …
I’d heard there was an ‘official’ response that they’d be bringing back the ‘bored’ animation for the female characters.
Any further word regarding this? It’s been gone for quite some time now.
^this … (please)

Now I don’t have to listen to the god awful “dialogue” between Marjory and Kasmeer.
I literally cannot think of a single situation where it would be easier to type that then to move my mouse “all the way up”. It’s not that far. Really. It’s not hard.
Next post, please.
maybe not you, but I type 200 wpm and it’s much easier to type that than to navigate the mouse while i’m in the middle of combat; Besides, it’s inconsistent. You can create join and leave parties with chat commands, and you can leave and join squads with chat commands, but not create.
200 words per min?
Please go to typeracer.com and record a score of over 190 wpm and post results. Right now, TY. Gotta make sure and all.
Also:
- no one uses squads
- when a squad is created once every blue moon, typing it won’t make any difference
Wow … you’re a bit of a grumpy griefer aren’t you?
Wouldn’t it have just been easier to … not reply at all?
Without any sort of server identity in pve, why care about server identity in wvw (from a pvxer point of view).
^this^
Something needs to be done. I hadn’t realized it was already so fully implemented. The release notes said it was going to start in low level areas first, but man it spread quick.
Talking in Vigil Keep turned so hostile, so quickly I was dumbfounded. Not all guilds are WvW … where are we supposed to have server based conversations?
How do you whisper them? I’ve tried and the chat box breaks into 2 fields requiring an email address.
They play all the time. They just don’t pop up their Anet tag (unless they’re trying to get all the enemy agro).
Interesting … yet I’ve played against 3 this week alone, running with JQ. I wonder what made them decide this was a good time to display their colours.

I do not understand why these type of announcements aren’t made ‘in-game’. It could be a simple mail, or they could be creative with NPC’s/story lines. Being required to leave the game is mind-bogglingly counterintuitive.
I rarely visit the forums and when I do it’s usually prompted by an ‘in-game’ complaint. I, however, have been following this and the other threads on the same topic. I haven’t contributed to the conversation because my gaming is entertainment and I have zero time for trolls. These conversations almost always become life-consuming time sinks.
Thank you Moshari, Antaris and others for clearly stating the thoughts and concerns of pretty much everyone on my friends list.
Aveneo. Thank you.

I for one did not like the Zerg. I experienced Patch Day 1, Fight 1 … and for that first fight, everyone divided between the 3 Knights. Every time after when we Zerged I always quietly wished for that first experience again.
I open with this statement, to make my next point as clear as can be.
I gave cymruvoodoo thumbs up … but it simply wasn’t enough to express my wholehearted agreement with him. It was like he had the words for the feelings I’ve been experiencing the last several days. He said a lot, but I just had to <snip> the following.
“To force players to focus on game mechanics, to institute rigid game limits on the ability of people already in the map to participate feels like it numbs the experience and encourages people to farm the assault knight of their choice rather than beat the event and be part of the story.”
This.
Each successive patch to force a Gamestyle on the population only puts a further exclamation point to this.
