It’s a make or break deal for me. I only pvp and wvw. I don’t plan on buying the expansion until they fix weaver and make it The pvp spec. Currently ele has no good damage specs for pvp. They are outperformed by other classes.

It isn’t viable at all. You’ll get dunked by any other condi class and the power damage is sub par. Base s/f is a better pvp spec and that isn’t even viable in top tier play.

I never said anything about PvP. Even then, once the XPac hits, the meta will jump into a big state of flux, things will change, and even if Weaver doesn’t find a place in the meta, it’s not that big of a deal.

Why is there a 3/4 casting time on earthen vortex and why does it lock you in place? That skill should be instant. As it is now enemies just walk right out of range.

In its current state weaver is not pvp ready. Low damage, low mobility, low condi mitigation. If you use offhand dagger you will be sniped. If you use focus you will not be able to chase your opponent with a single 450 leap. All of these problems need to be addressed to brings weaver up to the bare minimum of pvp viability.

Very lackluster condition control or removal in pvp or wvw. Every match up with scourge or mirage or condi thief will be lost. Add some active condition removal to stances. The15 sec cd on unraveling hexes is totally unjustifiable when you are bombarded with condi multiple times per second vs any condition class.

Return the servers to the previous state of unlock — with BG and TC closed — until you rebalance the pairings. Guilds are now split between servers in different tiers.

Are you talking about roaming or zerging? Most zerg staff Eles do not use celestial gear; they use full berserkers. You can sub in some Valkyrie or marauder pieces for more survivability. Celestial gear is more often used in a d/d or d/f brawler build.

I’m crashing constantly — almost every five minutes — since downloading HoT. There are no patterns regarding when or where the crashes occur: they happen when I’m in a zerg, or alone, and frequently in the new areas. I do have the autoloot mastery. I wonder if that trait is exacerbating the problem. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the game, yet the problem persists. The game is unplayable for me now.

Any of the servers in Gold or the top of Silver are good. Having said that, and assuming you’re talking about NA servers, you’ll probably have the most fun on JQ, TC, or SoS. JQ or TC if you’re into winning. SoS is also a good choice because they get the widest variety of fights, though they do not play the ppt game. Lastly, BG is a good server, but I’d advise against going there at the moment in order to spare yourself some frustration and boredom due to current match up politics.

Come to JQ. Queues are only noticeably lengthy on reset. I’ll introduce you to some players and show you some good builds. Also, JQ is a really pug-friendly server; hence, you’ll find many players willing to help, and many good pug commanders. Server is full at the moment. If you check at early morning hours or during EU time you might be able to get in.

Another good option would be Crystal Desert or Isle of Janther. I’ve heard good things. TC as well.

So far [HB] have been mentioned more than 20 times in this thread and only once has it been by a HB member. I just want to point out that I personally welcome any EU guild to NA servers, but I think ZD should have joined JQ to even out the EU numbers. However they might have been stuck in SEA queues there so Im not really sure where they should have gone instead. Maybe TC or mag?

Last week I aproached Indo asking him if we could make some kind of arrangement about pointing potential EU guilds towards JQ. At that time I didnt know about the ZD transfer. It seems my lack of avaible playtime have decreased my influence and with that the info avaible to me within the Blackgate leadership. I have in this and in previous games worked hard towards ballanced servers, and I will continue to do so. However I´ve come to the conclusion that my influence because of the previously mentioned is currently second to none, and because of that might as well not give a kitten.

Indo if you´r reading this, I hope you know I had the best of the NA tier 1 in mind when I approached you.

To IRON I just want to say that I love hating you guys, and that I wish Wrex all the best.

Thanks for thinking of balance Smokee. If JQ could get a decent sized EU guild I think it would be more fun during the EU timezone for SoR and BG as well.

He doesn’t roam solo. Not that I’ve seen. He is babysat. I’ve also beaten him 1v1 on my ele, so I know exactly what he is capable of. If I were to get on my condi mes and 1v1 with him, it just wouldn’t even be fair. I’m not saying I’m a good player. And I think melanin is all right. It’s just that I think roaming solo on ele is ill-advised atm because other professions have stronger builds.

I’d love to solo roam on ele again since it is my main. But every time I go out as an ele I know that I’ll get focused by Slynn or some OPP team or a few wars and thieves from RIOT, and Ele just doesn’t have enough escape to deal with that. Currently, mesmer is a much more forgiving and effective class for me.

Maybe if you’re in lower – mid tiered WvW servers like Gandara where you can pick and choose your fights more freely. In the higher tiers the lack of mobility becomes more apparent. In any case, please come roam in NA T1. I’d love to see how you fare against the above mentioned builds.

No. Don’t roam as an ele. You need a babysitter if you roam at all. You will get destroyed by a decent player running any of the following:

1. Stun lock wars that have higher armor than you, more passive healing, more stuns than you have stun breaks, and more mobility.

2. Chain fear necros with signet of spite.

3. S/D thieves that you won’t be able to get close to.

4. Perplexity Engineers.

5. Worst of all: the currently popular heavy stealth condi mes roaming builds used by Riot and OPP on BG and other roamers on JQ in T1. You will be burning, have 12 bleeds and 12 stacks of confusion on you, stunned, and unable to target your enemy. You will neither have enough condi removal nor sustain to outlive them, and they have about 2900 armor rating, meaning that you won’t be able to burst them down even if you do target them.

Ele is in a terrible position atm. Don’t roam unless you have a babysitter with you.

Here are two more problems to add to the list.

—If the ultimate goal is to have equal viability between classes we need to turn a critical eye to the issue of mobility. It doesn’t stand to reason that the devs selectively target the lowest hp/armor class with a 40 sec mobility nerf while allowing the highest hp/armor class to run wild with incredibly low cd gs/sword mobility skills. There’s at least a decent argument to be made for why a low armor class needs more mobility than a high armor one. The devs either need to unnerf rtl or tack on a 40 sec cd to warriors gs/s if they don’t hit an opponent.

— Attunement swapping, which I hope we can agree is the elementalist’s weapon swap, is grossly imbalanced when compared to other classes. As it stands now eles are being taxed 30 trait points just to get the same weapon swap cd that other classes have before spending any trait points at all. Look at warriors and necros: both classes can lower weapon swapping to 5 or 6 seconds respectively via fast hands and near to death — yes, death shroud is a weapon swap of sorts. I think if the devs would lower the cd on attunement swapping with 0 points in arcana to 10 seconds it would make the ele much more viable, allowing players to spend those wasted trait points in fire or earth. It would also significantly increase the number of viable builds. Furthermore, with 30 points in arcana the attunement cd should be reduced to 6 seconds. It’s not that wild of an idea because there is already a precedent for this in the fast hands and close to death mechanics.

I think if these two problems were addressed you would see an increase in the number of elementalists in pvp. Well, more than 0.

How are you going to compete against JQ then?

shrug SOR has always been the smallest of the 3 T1 servers population-wise. We are the least 1st place finishing and the most stable T1 server with no real server booms or implosions/drama. We don’t get too many bandwagoners (thankfully, they’re mostly PPT stomping bait) and no major wvw guilds transferring off.

Well put. SOR is the most stable amongst BG and JQ. As an example, SOR’s recruitment thread “Meet Sanctum of Ralls army”. SOR doesn’t hide the fact we have the least coverage of the 3 so people who transfer in know exactly what they in for, underdog role and lots of fights.

Blackgate recruitment post on the other hand states, “Blackgate, ranked tier 1 in North American WvW,”, so the bandwagoners go to that server for that specific goal but I’ll tell you what, when BG can’t meet those claims for weeks on end is when the in fighting and drama starts from the new transfers which can quickly spread.

I’ve been seeing a lot of these self-mythologizing SOR posts recently in which the op characterizes SOR as underdogs, lacking coverage, the most stable server, and the server that blobs the least ect. I have to say that all of the above are either unwitting half-truths based on feelings rather than evidence or deliberate falsehoods.

In the case of coverage, until recently SOR had the best NA—JQ is now possibly on equal footing—and still maintains the best EU coverage hands down. JQ does not have a large, organized EU presence. In fact, we have no large EU guild like Iron or Coin, and SOR should be able to capitalize on that fact to gain back any ppt lost during JQ’s strong SEA coverage. SOR’s loss of ppt during EU last week had less to do with JQ’s superior EU coverage and more more to do with SOR’s mismanaged priorities and JQ’s SEA pulling overtime.

Also, SOR is not the underdog now nor have they been for quite some time. A few months ago Ward and Aco decided to move to SOR during a difficult time for JQ — a time in which JQ was definitely the underdog and precariously close to falling to T2 due to lack of NA and EU coverage — not because they wanted to move to an underdog server. No No No. They moved to SOR precisely because SOR had superior EU and NA coverage, and some members of WARD/Aco wanted someone to play with during the EU timezone. Thus the claim “SOR has always been the underdog” is definitely inaccurate at best.

And anyway, you can’t call yourself an underdog server if your server claims at the same time that they “don’t play for ppt.” That’s like an all star hockey team with, say, Wayne Gretsky choosing not to score points and instead fighting in the middle of the rink, leaving their goals wide open for their opponents to score on. You aren’t even a contender if you do that.

As for blobbing, I’ve spoken with a few PRX that characterize the play style of SOR as closest to that of Vizunah. JQ is undoubtedly more willing to split up teams to hit multiple objectives on a map.

Also, SOR has indeed lost some guilds, e.g. MUSA moved to JQ a few weeks ago.

Ultimately, I have nothing against SOR. I just wish some of these SOR posters would stop being so pollyannaish about their server.

Jade Quarry needs a medium sized EU guild to even out the competition during EU hours. As it stands now, our Asian and Oceanic players are pulling overtime to hold fortifications until NA logs on, which, obviously, is not a sustainable solution because those players risk burning out.

If you are a member of an EU timezone WvW guild that is currently considering a move to a new server, please talk to your guild about a move to JQ. You will find excellent competition from the likes of Iron and Aftl on SoR, and Coin and RK on BG, and will be joining a fantastic community on the most resilient T1 server.

I’m not really worried about everyone logging in at once to get achievements at the start of the season. While I’m sure there will be some queues on the first weekend, I anticipate that they will die down once everyone gets over the novelty, and that the queues will be non existent by Monday, as they always are.

As for the question regarding how much more stacking JQ needs, I’d say a few more NA guilds to combat [RISE]‘s move to SOR, which of course is already the server that boasts the largest NA force. Despite what you may think, JQ NA forces don’t have the same numbers as the SOR NA juggernaut.

Ultimately I think either BG or JQ would be good options for RQ judging by the criteria Novus has provided — 24/7 coverage and no queues on weekdays.

The queues this week in EB are not representative of a typical JQ WvW match-up. On one hand this matchup is during the extended free trail week so there are a lot of low levels trying out the game and clogging up the queue, and on the other hand PvEers are further congesting WvW to get map completion because we own 90% of the map. I can guarantee you that during a tough match-up with BG and/or SoR you will see few if any queues. We had none last week.

If you place high value in anecdotal evidence here’s some for you: no queues on any of the BL right at this very moment, and I got into EB in 20 minutes.

In regard to ele this is a pretty weak argument for a nerf:

“Furthermore the dmg of the air weapon skills of scepter should be reduced because otherwise otherwise double ele with oneshots without any animations would be the daily problem after all nerfs.”

No class should be balanced on what it does to someone in a 2v1 situation. If you are being 2v1ed by any class with burst — war, thief, mes, nec, ranger ect — you’re most likely going to die. It has nothing to do with scepter air damage being the problem. You’re being 2v1ed. Should thieves be nerfed because you got backstabbed by two of them and died?

Furthermore, reducing ele scepter air damage and making fire the only attunement with any burst will cause ele to have no viable burst build at all. Ele is already in short supply in spvp and further reducing burst would make them even scarcer.

I think it’s pretty reasonable to say that air attunement to lightning strike isn’t going to kill anyone. What will kill someone is eating air attune, lightning strike, ride the lighting, updraft, ring of fire, pheonix, arcane blast, arcane wave. Most people anticipate that combo and so know that they need to dodge it.

Sure lightning strike could use a tell. And I suppose backstab could use one as well, and eviscerate, and mes shatter from stealth, and necro terror fear, ect. I think almost all professions have access to moves that do huge damage without a tell, and I think by now most have learned to anticipate these moves and found ways to mitigate the damage.

Here’s a good starter build for d/d and s/d. If you save up enough for ascended trinkets and divinity runes you can get this build up to 1700 toughness and 96% crit damage with 38% base crit chance that fury takes up to 58%. http://intothemists.com/guides/1021-ele_starter_build_vitality_trade_off.

Fuzzion, the build you shared is power starved, has low crititcal damage, and has only decent toughness for the amount of power it sacrifices. I used to run a build just like that, and while my build, like the one you linked, had high healing power, I’ve found that I can get by in WvW with just the healing power I get from the water trait line.

It will work with all weapons for pve and for wvw. It has great damage and decent toughness. Use aura and attunement swap for fury and decent burst. You can swap in travelors runes, or, one day when you save up enough, divinity for even better stats. Boosh, JQ is your server. I remember when we fought TC the first time they were amazed at how everything was left to our militia. Our successes are definitely thanks to a cadre of great commanders that really know how to get the best out of our dedicated forces. We have a public TS server that everyone uses. And most of the guild channels are accessible without a password. If you see a guild pin up in WvW, just join their channel. No problem. Also we have a server-wide guild of asuras that runs on certain days. I can tell you more about it in game. Whisper me for more details if you’re interested.

Also for zerg vs zerg eles are worse than necros ATM. Organized they’re useful, but in random blobs it’s better to go necro.

This is largely inaccurate, at least on a Tier 1 server (don’t have experience on other servers) were everything is go Zerg or go home. In a Zerg a necromancer has many things that are helpful (and SOR uses them to great effect) as well but have one critical area where they are held back: Stability.

In Tier 1 (which again I only specify because I’m not sure if it’s different in other tiers), even disorganized to a PUG level, most combat fights are one Zerg running through the other Zerg and seeing who comes out on the other side. Necro’s lack of stability in this scenario in fact gets them caught up on the huge amount of AOE CC such as Static Field which effectively separates them out from the rest of the classes or the people who didn’t bring Stability.

Also when built properly you can easily bring a ton of self support without needing organized play. We have a few blast finishers and plenty of AOE healing any group, organized or not, can easily take advantage of. A necro on the other hand has no ability to support like this and is basically just a large amount of AOE Conditions (subject to AOE Removal) as well as AOE CC.

You are incorrect about necro’s access to stability. I have more stability on necro than on an ele. Correctly traited a necro has 3 seconds of stability every 6 seconds.

Time to revisit Ele nerfs.

From what I’ve seen of lightningblaze’s play, he is definitely a good ele roamer. But, having said that, he still goes down to the same condi spam that everyone else does. I have a condi engi guild mate who beats him pretty consistently when they encounter each other roaming.

I mistakenly thought terror was a master trait, and didn’t realize 6 was selectable as an adept trait. I stand corrected. Engineers still get access to burning on crit for a measly 10 points though. That being said, if this leak is correct I’ll most certainly be running 30/10/10/0/20. Glad my build won’t change too dramatically because I do enjoy the terror traits.

Placing the new burning on crit trait in spite as a grandmaster trait is about the worst thing they could have done. No condition necro is going to be able to put 30 in spite without sacrificing either greater marks or fear does damage and lasts 50% longer. Contrast the sacrifice Necro would have to make to get burning with the relative ease with which Engineers get the same trait. Engineers get 100% chance to cause burning on crit with just 10 points in their power line.

I tested mango pie out since I saw one person with a gain-health-every-second food buff whom 4 of my teammates were unable to kill. It turns out that this an exploitable bug and needs a patch immediately.
