You would select the stats of the infused back-piece, like any other transmutation.
The infused item is separate from the original version(un-infused version) hence the extra slot being part of the infused piece.

how about 2 water 2 monk 2 travelers for the boon duration? Anyone feel that competes with melandru/soldiers?
not in the slightest. Boon duration doesn’t really help you live longer, most boons just get stripped

Sub-races that have no players are a dependency of story lines, it means there is more fluidity in progression, rather than having more interaction to worry about.
If there was going to be more playable races it would most likely be something like The Largos

you can’t say they don’t want a direct karma to gold conversion when they specifically add exactly that. orrian boxes are more direct than salvaging karma items.
salvaging karma items would be about the same, if not lower, return. sure, the first 10 or so listers would think they’re making bank, but when they get undercut in less than 8 seconds, they’ll be sad. If karma items could be salvaged, all that would happen is people would do it and prices of particular runes and sigils would drop to half their current price.
for those first 10 players, they would theoretically make about twice as much gold as the orrian boxes give. within a minute, however, that margin would drop to zero or negative.I can say it all I want and in fact the DEVS stated it when they removed karma items from being salvageable several weeks / months after release (they USED to be salvageable).
I don’t totally disagree with part of your statement, but it was NOT so much about individuals making huge profits, it’s about the market being flooded with materials.
All those ecto’s from exotics……

Yes, please! Or even better: create a stickied (non discussion) FAQ thread where we could qoute or link important information.
Along with these qoutes from Cliff:
caching:
Yes, please cache the results!
The names are guaranteed to be static between game patches/builds, but it’s possible for the list to grow between patches. The Events API, like the Item API, only shows events and maps that have been discovered by players.
So the ‘perfect’ logic would be to cache the results, and only do a lookup after a patch or if you don’t have a cached result for a particular event ID. And you probably don’t really need to do it between patches, as event names will rarely if ever change after being created.
item discovery:
If any player in the world participates in an event, then it is considered discovered.
If any player in the world acquires an item, then it is considered discovered. How quickly an item or event is discovered depends on how well-hidden it is in the world. It’s possible that an event or item might never be discovered.
Edit: To clarify, once something is discovered on any world, it is considered discovered on all worlds.
Pretty much everything would get discovered pretty fast…. there are a lot o worlds, and a lot of PVE players.

The trading post API isn’t official. So any software using it would possibly violate the terms of use (basically reverse engineering). However, there was no official statement on that topic yet.

Just to clarify, with the TP I’m only looking for the base info (current price (buy, order) and both listed amounts) as all I’m looking to make is a program for people looking to check up on their niche markets, while having the power to have information stored locally so they can see what times of the day specific items are moving and at what average flow rate.

I’d love to be able to talk to someone who has experience in either C++ or Visual basic who can give me a hand getting started, as personally, I haven’t worked with API’s before and I’d like to make something to help people looking into market trading for the first time (as the “moguls” already know what is moving)

The main people who have the heroic addition as a starting game, don’t need to have things purely account bound, if they are just starting out, they they would(by assumption) only have one character.
btw, too knowledge the only item that really you want to move around on low levels is the 18 slot bag… and they aren’t even hard to get.
Everything else (the mini, the armor and the exp boosters) can easily be stored in the bank, which is the best place to put things if you are going to delete a character.

how much “more” do you think this would help build diversity? it would just mean that the current builds that revolve around primarily utility skill type(shout guardian, meditation guardian) would become far stronger, they have many reasons to limit at 3, one being it forces you to pick the skills you want for each encounter, where as adding the forth, means you can take all the skills of a type, you would have to look at changing them around and really playing the game, you could just run around doing the same thing.
having 14 skills at 4 slots is 336336 combinations imagine play testing if each combination cause a profession to become unbalanced?
In reference to gw1 Remember how often skills were changed?
remember how many people actually QUIT when the assassin skill was changed?
having more abilitys creates more problems than it solves. I for one love that there is so little ability diversity, it forces you to get better at the game, rather than finding an “easy mode” variation every update (see gw1 farming)

This Wont happen.
Yes they are making the game more alt friendly.
but they are doing it in ways that wont directly effect the market.
what I mean by saying that is “making it so you have more level 80’s is a indirect demand increase”
Everyone needs to read this:
removing soul-bound from the aforementioned items would have a MASSIVE effect on current game economy, a way some(a lot of) people earn gold in this game
Now, I’m going to give you a few reasons why;
Legendarys would raise in price, by quite a lot.(undercutting by 1 copper when in the 3K+ mark is pretty insignificant)
Dyes would lower in price due to demand slowing down by a moderate amount(unless its one of the fire/frost ones then it will raise in price)
Trinkets overall would raise in price by player intervention(flipping)
less movement overall would cause brief periods with lower prices but flipping(buying all of an item and raising the price) would happen more often, as people would be wanting to make a higher % from every sale
Now, this doesn’t have an effect on PVP, or even directly WvW
(armor per player is indirect)
But, as a MASSIVE portion of the players are PVE and MOST of them buy their gear on the TP without even caring about what the market players do.
(unless exceptionally noticeable for example, raising EVERY dye to at-least 1 gold)
and considering the way the market works, if A-net wants to make as much money from the gem-store as possible the best way for them, is to make you spend all your gold on buying repeats of the same items to gear your characters, so you don’t just buy gems with your gold and when you do want something in the gem-store you then buy it with real money.
i know that almost all the gems(not all) on the exchange, were purchased by someone at some point. but i you want more profit(a-net), you make sure that people(the generic player) have a taxing way to get gear fast, because people will do it.
I play when I can and help who I can
(edited by Orthas.4937)
People have been willing to spend as much as it is, to buy it for one character, OF COURSE the guys who are selling them will raise the price if it becomes account bound, they would become so much more appealing if they could be used on alts as well without having to buy another one.
Usually sellers start to underbid each other if they don’t sell their stuff quick enough – example: skins from LS, that usually get cheaper after the first hype, mats for ascended, so on.
So the price will go on in the long run.
The current price of the dwayna back piece, is about 2g, on release it was 60silver.
guess what going to rise due to drop rate/=/equivalent gift price

Who cares about markets. Capitalists. Your loss.
A-net cares about the market, as it has the potential to reduce the money they make from the gem store.
If you make for example, a legendary account bound, they WILL at-least double in price(not exactly sure on eternity but I’ve been asking around and a lot of people would buy them now even i they cost 5k gold, if they stayed account bound).
Due to the people who are selling them realizing more people would easily be willing to spend 2k gold on an item they can now use on ALL the relevant alts they have.
With more demand comes higher prices.
its the same with dyes, if they made them account unlocked, the current ones with <100 currently for sale would skyrocket
(100g is their current price, imagine it doubling perhaps even quadrupling)
Just creating a massive market influx like that is something A-net wants to avoid, as it would be shifting HUGE masses of gold to specific players without them having to do anything other than canceling and re-posting the sale of an item.
YOU may not care about the market, YOU may not use it that often, but there IS a massive number of players that use the market, and most don’t even notice that you can make massive amounts of gold by doing tiny things.

Due to the size and scope of the final four story releases in season one, the next round of major features will be bundled together into a large “feature only” release that will come after the first season of the Living World 2014 has finished. Once the story has completed, we’ll go into much greater detail on what’s to follow, but for now we want to focus on making sure our last four episodes shine.

I might be just being a little paranoid, or pedantic with the specific terminology
So here I am asking for some clarification from the people who develop and have the final word when it comes to content.
PS:
If it is something that cannot be commented on(be it in public or not) can you please respond either way: answering the question for example, as someone would answer any other open knowledge question, or, delete the thread and inform me that I am asking about something that is “not the be commented on”.

Personally, I think that on a customization level, we should be able to “skin” any armor over each other regardless of type.
For example, medium armor skin on heavy armor(guardian wearing a trench coat)
keeping the item’s stats for profession’s armor value from the primary armor.
It’s not like it would be “that” much coding if the base is there for transmuting skins.
it would just need an enforcement on the core stats and armor type.
(for example, armor, power/toughness/vitality)
much in the same way that “Radiant Vambraces” work
then have the upgrade selectable as normal.
no new models would need to be made, as every model that is relevant already exists(humans relative to profession can all wear light/medium/heavy)
at least then we could customize to our hearts content, and if we didn’t like something because it had clipping issues, we could just not use that skin combination as a personal choice.
I play when I can and help who I can
Adding mounts in general would still cause a frame rate drop, as using more resources inherently needs more power, and some people even on the lowest settings
(not everyone has the room for a PC, or the money for a powerful PC/laptop)
currently have models and character detail turned down as far as possible.
adding something like this would cause more setting constraints to need to be added along with the coding behind the initial project.overall the Financial gain for the A-net would need to heavily outweigh the time spent on the project, as they could be doing other projects or fixing existing errors.
In that case, I suppose you would be in favor of removing the broom? And removing Flametouched Armor?
Both things that both made profits compared to the time spent on development.
so, no, not really.

Rendering does not cause lag. Lag is a latency gap that occurs when sending information across a network.
What you are talking about, is a loss of frame rate due to more textures and models being in the game.
Lag is a lowering of the normal game-play speed, be it Frame rate or Ping.
The latency between you and the “server” is technically “Ping”,
which when this is high enough to notice a negative impact is called by the vast majority of internet users: Lag.
A lower than normal frame rate(standard being in the range of 30-90) being caused by anything from hardware to software, is also called: Lag.
The use of the word is shared, not exclusive.
__________________________________________________________________
Back on topic.
The addition of mounts that give a constant move speed buff(assuming it was greater than swiftness) would be unnecessary, and reduce the time it currently takes to get 100% map completion, which is, I’m guessing that’s reason people are asking for it.
But this is a bad thing, as 100% map completion is meant to take time, it’s one of the achievements needed to craft a legendary. Making any changes would even or a small change, lessen the previous achievement that others have gotten in crafting one(not just acquiring).
Adding mounts in general would still cause a frame rate drop, as using more resources inherently needs more power, and some people even on the lowest settings
(not everyone has the room for a PC, or the money for a powerful PC/laptop)

meh, i don’t find that it changes all that much outside of pvp.
I’m an Aussie player, and i think the main reason why most people don’t play this game is because its not really that well known here, the “game scene” here is mostly dominated by League of legends and console games.
That aside, there are still plenty of Aussie players, they are just spread out over all the servers.

- Elites from the Primary.
The same for healing abilities, I’d say… but that depends. They’re all pretty balanced to me.
- Utility should be for both.
Ok, imagine this.
Mace shield guardian/warrior
6 slot healing signet. (392 regen per second)
7+8 slot damage reduction signets
9 sot healing power signet
10 slot guard invul
taking toughness and mace empowerment traits and maxing vitality+toughness lines.
now, currently said guardian can get his virtue up to around 300 healing per second by getting 2000 ish healing power.
then add in the food that gives another 88 health per second
and dolyak runes to get another 30 per second.
now taking into account that the guardian will now have just over 800 health per second and some really nice toughness and the two signets reducing damage by their respective percentages.
This “tank” could pretty much live through anything. not taking into account that the dolyak runes could be changed out for runes of dwayna, giving him regen on hit, adding something around 380 more health per second…..
can you see why this would be an issue to try and balance?
you would have to reduce the numbers on everything just in case people decided to run this.
even running melandru runes, and lemongrass food to reduce conditions by over half, this would be ridicules.
Dual profession is something the game didn’t end-up being balanced around, so please don’t ask the dev team to have to them go back through every ability and change everything just to fit the previous games “unique” classing system.

Magic find should perhaps affect;
Champion loot bag and bags of materials inside contents. Also should reduce chances of getting junk.
It should not affect dungeons chests, and maybe not even champion bags all that much (only 50% of your MF perhaps…?) but as it is right now;
You have RNG for your RNG, basically it takes lots of lcuk to get those bags, and then you have a prefixed % on them, basically MF^2. Also, they should drop a little more often.
Thoughts, improvements?
Champion loot bags are not “chance” acquired, they are given EVERY time you have damaged a champion to the correct %. for example, the frostgorge/queensdale champ trains. also, the reason that MF doesn’t effect boxes, is so people just open their boxes straight away(or within a reasonable amount of time) instead of sitting on them for AGES while they get their MF up to a number they like.
MF doesn’t need to be buffed. it can give you 3 (at max) extra rolls on the RNG table, which doesn’t sound like much to an item with a o.ooo1 drop rate, but if boxes had the effect, then opening 250 champ boxes(which a lot of people do)would give you a much better chance at high end drops.
btw ^2 is (to the power) of 2… doesn’t seem like MF needs THAT much of a boost.

I’m not so sure it’ll destroy the Market for the Weapons really. There are a -LOT- of Legendaries, and supposedly, even more to be added in future content updates. If anything, it might drive up the prices of the less-desired Legendaries by those seeking to gather them all or such.
By destroy, I mean most likely double the price of all of them.

Duels would be awesome, the newest twitch video shows the devs fighting each other, even if they used dev commands to allow it.
on the “pvp switch” though…. This isn’t WOW, the option to add a massive difficulty increase isn’t necessary, it would also only ever be turned on either when you knew you were safe from the standard PVE content, of you wanted to mess with people who forgot to turn it off. the switch wouldn’t be a positive.

honestly, im all for a new class, but i DO see where the guy who said this is just a dervish is coming from… i mean… the picture you drew seems very close to what a variation of adding most of the old dervish “avatar” skills together

aside from that, you COULD use the dervish….. since when does “faith” require a god to actually be there?(see that? hitting every religion at the same time without being specific or technically offensive)
All you would have to do is make the kit modern and fix up the lore. i mean, there isn’t really that much that’s been heard from Elona.
I do like the concept here though, its quite nice, even if a full CC class would abuse the crap out of giver’s weapons and having more than 2 in a dungeon would be a negative, oh and having less than half the people in your WvW zerg would be negative also.(its all in the balance)

Secondary Healing power
Reason : The is very similar to sentinel, but instead of having damage, get healing.
