1) In ranked off season you shouldn’t be able to queue as a team of 5. Randoms don’t stand a chance against actual teams.
2) There should be a way to turn Tomes of Knowledge into lvl 80 boosts. Sometimes when idling in Heart of the Mists there’s a guy next to you who lights up like a flashlight 80 times. Also, clicking them 80 times is a bit annoying :p
I went condi in sPvP and it worked fine. Tried both Druid and Core and Core is better for it.
I did the story mission twice with different loadouts. It was incredibly easy. Found it boring. Hopefully there’s harder content further in.
I got a bit sick too. Think I was jumping too much on it. Will try without jumping all the time and see how it goes.
This is my Thief ‘Paranoid Kamikaze’. It’s a mixture of armours and it only looks good on Sylvari’s. Because Humans are fat
Does it affect Basilisk? The timer doesn’t change when I put it on and it’s such a short duration I can’t tell.
I already have the Ardent Glorious armour and I bought the Globs Of Condensed Sprit Energy. How do I use it to turn my Ascended armour into Legendary? I can’t drag them to the armours and the mystic forge doesn’t accept me putting my armour there.
I am firmly against people being babied to the point that they need to be told exactly what to do for everything. You’re already at the point where you’re doubting yourself on incredibly miniscule things and complaining on the forums about it.
I like the aura as well. Would be great to have on my character. I didn’t like the red of the Berserker elite spec so I just played core instead. You could do the same. Or play another class.
I tried out Shortbow S/D condi and made it to Platinum before I decided to go back to screwing around. It worked out pretty well at +1 and running around. In team fights it relied on your Wilderness elite and harassing those not in the zerg as Eles and Engineers have projectile blocks/reflections. It does lots of damage with Bleeding and Poison, but most classes have 1-2 passive condi clears so it can end up with you doing no damage, which is annoying. Also, stow weapons on shortbow when its firing in combat seems to be bugged or something. Because it doesn’t do it. Engineer pops his reflect so you want to stow weapons and it doesn’t work. Annoying.
Soulbeast looks extremely powerful and is probably going to be more of a 1v1 type as it offers no mobility and seems to have good sustain with the pet fusing and unfusing mechanic. I expect Shortbow D/D as the condi version for 1v1, but there could also be a power version.
You should try out Shortbow. I thought I wouldn’t like condi and it surprised me how fun it could be.
I think this is just a problem for lower dps builds. I had a staff Thief with full ascended Marauders and food do this and I didn’t even know Livia could die. I just mindlessly killed things with barely any effort.
The introduction of mounts to reduce the number of mechanics would be nice. I never had any problem with the HoT mechanics(other than hopelessly getting lost in maps) though I understand if others might due to the sheer number of them.
Thanks so much. Was stuck and extremely frustrated.
I finished the story, map completion and the jumping puzzle without having to look at a guide. They were so incredibly simple.
Just finished the jumping puzzle. It was fun and I didn’t have to look up a guide on how to do it, which is how it should be. Some people were still being portaled up for some reason.
Is there nowhere to repair in the map?
I liked it. The easily done mini puzzles were nice to have and lots of red circles to dodge made it exciting. Music during the last fight was also amazing. I usually play with the sound off but turned it on for that fight :p I also liked how it wasn’t too easy while being not too hard.
The Balthazar shrine area was way harder than the others due to the big guys that burned everything. I could beat them with the knockback buff, but I would die easily if I didn’t. Every other shrine was easy in comparison.
I have never been more kittening furious on a story quest in any game I have ever played. If I decide to try this again (yes, I’ve read how to do it, still isn’t working), I can promise you, I will never repeat this trash storyline again. Great job with replay value.
But it was so easy… I finished all of it the first time without any help. Do you just have a really bad build and can’t dps fast enough or have not enough evades/heals?
Thought they would make a land spear the next weapon. Leg sword came out of nowhere, but I’ll take it. Adds variety.
I finished the story perfectly fine.
If you’re talking about the end of the story read spoiler. If you’re talking about the first few missions in the White Mantle place just throw fragments around and kill the things.
You throw a rock at the Eye while the shiny moving light thing is near it. The shiny light thing turns into an enemy and you kill it. After 2 times you protect Livia as she channels and makes the other shiny lights into enemies and you kill them. Once all shiny light are gone you attack Lazarus. Use shiny sword to finish him off at end when it prompts you. You ask the eye where Balthazar is and get a cutscene of him in the Crystal Desert messing up some pyramids. Some talking and then another cutscene saying the next expansion will be announced on August 1st.

Was on Legacy of the Foefire battling a Rev when he knocked me into the actual waterfall. I couldn’t get out so I just started jumping around and going into places I could. I ended up jumping out of the map Turns out the map is just floating on a huge ocean of water and when you go down everything goes all black with the outline of the map. There’s a part I couldn’t get past in the ocean so I guess that’s just the limit for how far you’re allowed to go.
I love the game but couldn’t stand the matchmaking. Teams were never balanced and it seems like the system just tries to make a fast group as opposed to only matching people of similar skill. Getting up to new ranks is also a grind. Hundreds of games to go up a new rank for me even if I was winning 8/10 games and people in the top 10 just had some lucky placements that got them there. When my games finally evened out to 50/50, it was because my teammates got worse and not because I had harder opponents to go against.
I log on every so often to mess around with random builds, but I’m not taking the game seriously until they fix their matchmaking algorithm. I have had more balanced games in smaller communities so there’s really no excuse.
Wait until the blue glow and then hit steal to have it spin in place.
Hope this goes through. I have multiple classes, but I usually only play 1 in ranked PvP because I know I’m not as good at my others. I would be playing 3-4 if I knew it wouldn’t mess up my rating.
All classes have multiple builds that can be used and they can be used for different roles. Some people here are acting like the only build a class can play is whatever is voted highest at Metabattle :p
Rev can be traited to have 2 stacks of stability on dodge. Might have a problem with healing, but not stability. My Thief on the other hand… Nothing. Absolutely no stability of any kind. Closest thing we got is a trait in acrobatics that stops a single knockdown every 30 seconds. The small room and Daredevil dodges also didn’t go so well. Dodge was so long that I would often go straight into an explosion because of the small room and not being able to see with the camera.
I don’t mind content that’s hard; I actually enjoy it. Room needs to be bigger though so Thieves aren’t so heavily neutered.
Will depend on how you have it buffed with traits. Ich got almost all the buffs PvP guys put on Steal, but he missed a few :p Seriously, PvP guys buff Steal to the point that landing it pretty much makes you MVP of the entire game. For however you trait Steal, read what it does and apply it in the situation where it could be used.
Saying everything would take too much time, so I’ll just give you a basic tip: You can use Steal in-between the animation of anything. This is useful as it allows you to start a skill like Heartseeker from afar and then use Steal partway through it to hit your target.
Marauders for sPvP and WvW. Berserker for everything else. You can use Marauder in PvE as well, but not in raids. The damage falloff is noticeable and you want Berserker in PvE because it feels better. Due to ‘Invigorating Precision’ you don’t die as easily as people say you do in Berserker and can actually be quite tanky. If there’s a Ventari Rev or a Druid supporting you, you never die. Only high damage spikes will kill you. You can compliment yourself with food if you’re having trouble.
This is the sole reason I haven’t gotten into pvp since launch. I love playing thief but everyone thinks they are in the right and the easiest blame is the thief. Even if they do their job people still find a way to throw the blame their way. I don’t need that stress. I’ll stick to wvw team fights and roaming instead. I just simply find it more fun.
I just turn off chat when that happens. Really annoying.
A Thief also relies on his team to know what they’re doing. With some teams you really can’t do a single thing because there are no situations to do anything. Depending on the timezone I play on, there are vastly different skills of players and I do noticeably better on a team of people who know what they’re doing as opposed to a team that doesn’t.
Some players are just bad. It’s not Thieves in particular but is actually evenly distributed among the classes. Thieves are just more visible when they’re not good because you can judge them from how they move on the mini-map. I main a Thief and I’ve won the last 9 of my 10 games.
This is true, but I think there is more of a skill gap between classes such as a thief and a DH. A thief you can very easily be one of the best or the worst on your team, no disrespect to DH mains but they can deal out a lot of damage and such with comfortable options for recovery.
Doesn’t matter if they just stay on a point and let their team get 5v4’d or double cap a point. Thieves who can’t do anything just haven’t figured something out about their class and it’s the same with everyone on any class.

Are there any other ways to get ascended shards of glory? I just went from Silver to Gold and didn’t get anything for that. I want to finish my armour and get weapons as well.
I have absolutely no fun whatsoever in Quick Play. I enjoy ranked when there are good players and good matchmaking. The matchmaking was terrible for a while now and it’s supposed to be better the next season. Whenever that comes.
I’ve noticed that when you miss your backstab there’s a large delay before you can try it again, which is incredibly annoying. I’ve tried stowing my weapon for canceling and that didn’t seem to get rid of it. Is there another way of getting rid of this delay? If not, can Anet fix it? It’s not like backstab does a lot of damage anymore.
I really hope it’s a trenchcoat. Sylvari have really thin bodies and only look good in something bulky. Would suck to spend all this time raiding to have the armour not look good on your character by design.
Had the same problem. I just restarted the game and redid that ooze section. All was well and didn’t take very long.
Mines bugged and Aurene isn’t attacking one of the ooze generators….
Edit: Had to exit the game and redo it. Working now.

I enjoy jumping puzzles. They’re fun. I don’t think I could have done this one without a Dulfy guide telling me where to go though.
Learn to bind skills to your mouse. I have dodge on there and choosing a direction to dodge is now effortless.
No, it’s not P2W. It costs money to buy the game and then when the expansion came out Anet made the core game free for people to try. You obviously still have to buy the expansion to get the full experience.
There are also still builds in the core game that are viable in PvP. Burn Guardian counters Druid pretty hard for instance. Oh, and build differences only matter for competitive players who play at a much higher level than most people. I could probably beat most players I meet by spamming ‘1’ on my Thieves shortbow.
Games casted in 1080p would be nice. The commentary can’t make up for pixels with random colours on it.
The only way I know what’s going on is if I look at the minimap during the stream.
Thanks for the tips and I’ll definitely try to get rid of the materials that way. Just wish there was a way to get rid of the boosters like turning them into hero points or something like that.
I am someone who hates to use limited time experience boosters so I have a buildup of 154 boosters which I need to get rid of somehow. Is there any way to trade them in for gold or something useful? I also have 1,356 Empyreal Fragments, 2,029 Piles of Bloodstone Dust, and 1,315 Dragonite Ore that I don’t know what to do with.
