Did you try Hammer with Arms line? The DPS is insane with Unsuspecting Foe and Burst Precision. It also works with Daggers as well because of the 3 -> 4 combo. Once their stability and stunbreaks are gone you just chain together and get nothing but crits.
I didn’t try that. Sounds crazy though. You think D/D Hammer will be viable? I really hope so, I love the idea of that weapon combo.
Yah, the mobility of Daggers and Hammer with Featherfoot makes it hard for anyone to escape – especially when combined with No Escape and/or Slow Counter. It’s actually exciting how many build options there are compared to what we have now.
It makes me giddy just thinking about it. Stripping someone’s stability and then CC spamming them to the point that their accounts are deleted and their homes repossessed. I just can’t wait!

You don’t see the irony in that statement? You don’t see how we could easily get “Pigeonholed” into only ever using sword, because none of the other weapons are affected by the heat mechanic?
I for one miss our core engi weapons more than I am excited for sword. Yeah it’s fun, but It doesn’t represent Engineer as iconically as pistols or rifle. The biggest thing is, like you said, I want options meaning NOT being pigeonholed into any one weapon.
Well I guess I didn’t mention this complaint was from a PvP point of view. Being locked out of my blast finisher, condi cleanse, pull, block, etc seems like it could be very counter-productive. I get it… High risk, high reward. I just hope being locked out of reactive skills for 6 seconds and the chance of blasting myself in the face for 8k damage if I overheat is still worth it once Holosmith is inevitably nerfed due to QQ from other classes.
We can go with five kits maximum for a devastating amount of 25 abilities not counting the tool belt.
You know those kits share the cooldown you get when you enter holo forge right? Running a bunch of kits is kind of a terrible idea with holosmith. It’s also not all about the fact that things work, it’s about wanting MORE things to work.
I for one will be using Rifle most likely, simply because I missed it, and I love it. But we could still get a little Holo interplay with old stuff, other elite specs got changes for their old weapons, why not engineer?
Also the fact that you mentioned all those kits, which all benefit basically 0 from heat. You see the argument goes both ways.
I think this is absolutely necessary.

Anyone else bothered by the fact that the cooldown to leave Holo Forge is shared with kits? Why would equipping a kit force you out of forge? Just make it so you have to manually leave forge with F5, putting kits on a shared cooldown with F5 really ruins the fluid reactive gameplay most of us engineers love!

I’m totally fine with my side note being received poorly, it should have been its own thread (not that it’s even that important.) But heat benefiting all weapons (or at LEAST a skill with each?) is absolutely necessary.
I don’t think ANYONE wants to feel locked into sword as the only weapon that we should use because otherwise we would gain way less benefit from our heat outside of Holo Forge. Rifle really needs some love, that’s the one I’m most hoping for. Just make heat increase its damage or make Rifle 3 do full damage at its max range or something. Longer leap? I dunno, there’s lots of options… Longer net? Faster shots? \o/
I have never been below gold and there are plenty of bads that don’t kill gyros, even there.
Use defensive traits and utilities. Problem solved. Inventions and Alchemy are a hell of a drug. Elixer S. Spectrum Shield. Photon Wall. Sword/Shield (4 and 5). I don’t know you pick, we have PLENTY of defensive options.
I wouldn’t use stealth gyro as elite, elixier x is more useful in my opinion.
I’ll play Devil’s Advocate on this one. The awesomeness of poking at someone with stealth gyro up just to be restealthed again a few seconds later is amazing. I can’t even count the number of times people have gotten frustrated and just left a point because they were too dumb to just kill the gyro. xD
Let’s look at weaver real quick and notice all of their weapons get cool new additions. Can we PLEASE have heat interactions with all weapons for Engineer? it’s not like we have many weapons to begin with. I want a reason to want to use my Rifle or Pistols again. There are just so many cool options that could be, if this were a thing.

If heat management wasn’t so difficult (in the sense of maximizing time over 100% for optimum DPS) I would agree that either damage or cooldowns could be tuned to make the class less powerful. But it is that difficult, so the damage and cooldowns are fine.
I feel that unlocking a specialization fully should unlock the weapon for core, and all future specializations. Not everyone liked hammer, but I for one would love to play around with it with Holosmith.
But as a side note we have a perfect offhand for power… That is if you play PvP and WvW like some of us, Shield! Shield is awesome, and I’m so glad I finally have a reason to use it as a power engineer.

I would prefer to just be able to swap pets while in beastmode so I never have to worry about their “Navigational Soundness” ever again.
Except Dervish cleaves lots of targets while SB seems to be 1~2 target focus.
I have been playing around with Clarion Bond, Moment of Clarity, and Lead the Wind in marksmanship lately, the cleave is better than I would have thought. The only reason I think it’s worth trying is the change to Clarion Bond, it combined with Zephyr’s Speed is pretty amazing.
Fury, Might, Quickness, Swiftness, Super Speed and unblockable pet attacks? Add a nice piercing LB2 and Bristleback F2 together with that and you get some crazy single target, and some decent cleave burst.
Edit: I forgot to mention this setup will do more damage and have more opportunities to truly shine with SB than it currently does with Druid.

This is my biggest concern. I want to play my ranger with no pet, I hate relying on AI to help me kill people. Fluidly switching between pets and skills would be so much fun, and no stupid pets to get annoyed with!

So what is everyone’s predictions of what Thief Rifle elite spec will be like? I for one am PRAYING they give us back Ricochet with rifle and give us a viable ranged spec. I want to be a fast paced ranged skirmisher like hammer revenant should have been!

I had no idea about placements coming back after 8 months away… I stupidly queued for ranked on some of my lesser classes to get back in the swing of things and ended up in the first tier of gold. Stupid me. :<

The right “Gauntlet” on the Savant Coat is too thin and clips horribly with most gloves. There are many cool appearance options that are basically ruined by this, not to mention the glowing circles on it look like odd squished ovals instead of circles.
Edit: Added a really quick paint edit (yeah i know the clipping parts are still missing) but I made it larger and it looks cooler, and more natural.

well you could disabe action camera for a moment with your action camera hotkey then do your thing then enable it again. dont thing thats to difficult
This would defeat the purpose of action camera being convenient. Less button pressing for the same effect is always better.
The first idea I had for the action camera is the reason I don’t use it personally. When you turn your camera around with left click using the normal camera you can cast wells and other ground targeted AoEs behind you without turning around and back peddling. This is crucial for classes like Necromancer attempting to drop AoE pressure on the move or evade enemies. In the action camera if you attempt to do this by holding S to move backwards you run full speed at the camera, until you drop an AoE regardless of if it hits an enemy, you start backpeddling.
—Please make it so simply dropping an AoE doesn’t trigger backpeddling, I understand if it hits an enemy and causes combat but otherwise it’s very disruptive.
My second idea may be a little much but I think it could add some really interesting skill-shot like mechanics. If you could start a cast while in mid air, the action camera could allow you to jump, spin, cast, and re-orient yourself to your original course all on the fly. I think this would add an extra level of skill to PvP or even movement heavy PvE encounters.
I love the action camera, I just think it needs a bit of tweaking to not be a hindrance in certain gameplay scenarios.

I have one and only one suggestion, and I make this suggestion out of pure desperate need. PERMANENT TRANSMUTATION CHARGE I don’t make enough money to keep buying them, and I don’t get enough of them from PvP… I am a pretty flower and must win at Fashion Wars 2. I would save up and pay $50 for this seriously! :O
The real issue is condi cancer induced AIDS… the “Bunker meta” isn’t as much of a thing anymore, it’s still there… It just isn’t the main issue.
OP, I don’t get it. What you’re saying is that you want to unlock unlocked skins?
That seems too cumbersome.
I would rather spend transmutation charges as a one time thing, maybe make it an option in addition to the current system. It would make it so you didn’t have to spend them every time you wanted to swap your look, you could unlock an item and swap to it’s appearance at any point for free.
Why not something in between?
You’d still need to find/buy the skin you want. Then they appear in your wardrobe with a lock. Use transmutation charges to unlock it for all characters. Boom.
Anything is better imo, than the current system. It’s not that the charges are super hard to come by, it’s the fact that I have to use them every time I want to change ANYTHING and I don’t want the exact same theme for each class that shares armor.
