Not if you’re judging based on when they immediately join the group, it’s a perfectly justifiable spec when soloing/farming/etc..

Warrior Trait

“Brawn”

  • One of the two Discipline Trait line bonuses
  • “+1% to Burst Skills Damage per 10 trait points

For spending all 30 trait points the bonus is an insignificant +3% damage to F1 abilities, which have a 10 second cooldown, are rarely used without full adrenaline, and are primarily used for their secondary effects and not their damage.

This is the only percentage-based trait bonus in the game that provides a 0.1% bonus per trait point instead of a 1% bonus per point… suggesting that there is a misplaced decimal point.

For perspective, 30 points into the Strength Trait line provides +300 power which – even with maximum offensive stats – provides more than a 3% damage bonus to all skills’ damage, including Burst Skills

This has to be a bug, right … right?

Absolutely no warrior love at all! But other than that I agree with the direction ArenaNet is going.

What is it that the warrior needs then other then a nerf ;P

There have been blatant bugs since launch, reported on a weekly basis. Don’t give me that class priority nonsense. Bugs should be fixed. All bugs.

  • A Stability or Vigor buff somewhere other than the Warhorn would be nice.
  • GS = Mobility+AoE … Hammer = Control+AoE … so I think the GreatAxe should focus on single target damage, and perhaps bleeds?
  • I really would like to see an ability that tosses an enemy behind you, perhaps hooking them with the axe and spinning around to throw them towards your allies. Also useful in PvE to position & interrupt.

Qbert.4197

I feel this on riposte. When I activate riposte it doesn’t go off immediately and will usually take a second until I actually raise my sword. This has caused me to miss rather important attacks that must be blocked. I always chalked the delay up to lag, however. If this really is a programmed delay, it needs to be fixed.

Undecided on the rest of the complaints, but this is a significant & mechanic-breaking design IMO. There should be an option for defensive abilities like this to cancel the existing cast, or perhaps a global cancel-cast option.

It is absurd that something as reactive as a parry ability is put in an ability queue…

It’s like we are asking to schedule an appointment with our enemy for a counterattack. Stupid.

warrior’s sprint
official gw2 wiki says 10% but can we have a passive buff icon to indicate this? and how does this +10% movement speed increase stack with swiftness?

say base speed 100%
with warrior’s sprint = 110% movement speed

with swiftness does it becomes 143% or 146.3% ???
or it does not stack and swiftness simply overwrites it, becoming 133% instead?

I have no data or hard evidence to prove it, just extensive experience with/without this trait and can say pretty comfortably that the effects do in fact stack in a manner to make them feel relatively significant, i.e. Swiftness + WSprint is noticeably faster than swiftness without the trait… so I’m almost 100% certain they do not overwrite each other.

Also, I have yet to find a single multiplicative percentage based modifier apart from the “5% of X stat to Y stat” traits (which were reduced from 10% in beta specifically for this reason). Thus I highly doubt that speed modifiers are multiplicative, but rather additive like the rest of the modifiers.

It does bring up a continuing, frustrating theme however… the information available to the player, let alone the tooltips themselves, is inexcusably insufficient in far too many cases. I don’t see why players shouldn’t be told precisely how benefits are being applied, considering we are expected to be deciding between them.

D) All of the above? Not trying to be rude, honest.

A) Don’t make the NPC respond with the same greeting EVERY time you interact with them. Would be nice if they only give the greeting if I haven’t interacted with them within the last 2-5 minutes. Perhaps just switching the greet to a simple “hmmmm?” until the cooldown resets. This would probably require a lot more voice/dub/code work so I don’t expect it… but a cooldown would be very nice.

B) I like the barter banter when it comes to shopkeepers, just mix it up a bit more. It doesn’t even have to be a different phrase, just repeated in a different way/tone/manner. People don’t monotonously repeat phrases in the same words & tone of voice even if they are essentially ‘saying the same thing.’

C) I like occasional white noise of conversation, but it’s a very delicate thing to pull off. On one hand, if people are standing around near each other they can’t just stand silently together… but just like in real life I really don’t like hearing people repeat the same story/joke/fact over and over and over. My limit would be ~4 repetitions per hour. Even better if it is repeated to a different NPC. Also, it would be a quantum leap in NPC banter if NPCs were finally able to discuss things from more than one topic. Suppose there is an old fisherman at a dock that generally rants about fishing… but if another old man that never fishes stops by near him they should break out into talking about “the old days” and getting old … if a kid stumbles near with a little dog, maybe he could talk about a pet he used to have… I would like to see MMOs get away from the one-dimensional NPCs that seem only capable of discussing one thing their entire “lives”… and not have to be deliberately asked by the player to talk about something else.

Think “dynamic event chains” but with NPC conversation. What might middle aged women talk about? What ways would it start, where would that lead, and how might it end. Randomize it from a large pool of options, but based on the conditions of the NPCs. That way, whatever they talk about will be inherently (albeit algorithmically) based on what they have in common …. just like in real life!

But generally, the best feedback I can give is that it’s ok for NPCs to be silent for long periods of time! Save the commotion for special events!

Are you salvaging a LOT in sequence? Because, diminishing returns and all that jazz.

Wouldn’t be surprised if AN has some sort of system dropping that chance by 1/10th each attempt after a certain # of salvages … which would eventually bring that 25% chance down to 2.5% chance.

Just a theory based on the DR I’ve been seeing elsewhere when gathering (not a complaint FYI, just saying, DR is a very real factor in this game)

I created the other Bug List thread before this thread began. See:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/warrior/Consolidated-List-Summary-of-Warrior-Bugs-to-be-updated/first#post211212

In addition to the many in-depth ability tests I’ve done, I also now have over 300 hrs played on my warrior [~50% PvE completion, ~50 hrs WvW/ 300 badges, 50+ sPvP matches] which has helped me in identifying not just what I consider to be bugs, but also some educated guesses as to what I think may be causing them.

IMO the top 5 remaining Warrior bugs are:

  • 1 – The 15 point Trait to reduce the weapon swapping cooldown by 5 seconds often does not work at all on the initial weapon swap following exiting/entering combat.
[bug exists as of last night]
  • 2 – Endure Pain does not last the full 5 second duration but rather ~3.5 seconds, this shortcoming is compounded by the trait that increases stance duration by 25%. (have not tested since about a week ago to confirm if this bug still exists, however there has been no patch note since that mentions it).
[bug exists as of at least last Tuesday]
  • 3 – Warrior leap abilities (namely Savage Leap, Eviscerate, and Earthshaker)essentially do not use the target as the destination for the effect; in other words, the destination & damage of the leap does not coincide with the target but rather only the direction and range of the leap. This results in extremely unnatural pathing and the complete inability to hit targets that are on a lower elevation when using these skills. This behavior is most noticeable with the MH Sword ablility “Savage Leap”, but similar inaccuracies have been experienced with the MH Axe burst ability “Eviscerate” (which very frequently lands short of the target despite being well in range).
    [issue exists as of yesterday]
  • 4 – Numerous ‘charge’-like abilities that attempt effects at the end of pathing will end their paths out of range of the target, and sometimes inflict the effect at a location that is not relatively near the target. Additionally, the Greatsword ability “Rush” is uncancellable and will very frequently execute a large portion of its ‘charge’ right next to the target and then fail to execute the attack portion, causing a lengthy pose next to the intended location with no effect (perhaps a simple modest 5-10% range increase on the attack could alleviate this issue). While the pathing has slightly improved over recent patches, clearly from a periodic correction built into the channeling of the charge, the issue with the secondary effect not coinciding with the targets location remains.
    [issue exists as of yesterday]
  • 5 – “Brawn”, the 2nd passive bonus per trait point in the Discipline trait line provides only 0.1% bonus per trait point compared to either 10 stat points or 1% bonus per trait point to every other bonus in every other trait line for every other class in the game. It cannot be reasonably justified to provide a mere +3% damage increase to only two Warrior abilities as reward for 30 trait points, especially considering that 30 trait points provides +300 Power in the Strength trait line… it would take a Warrior with 9000 attack damage to for those trait points to have equal effect, and to burst skills alone.
[bug exists as of at least two days ago]

Consolidated List & Summary of Warrior Bugs (to be updated)

The +crit chance on adrenaline works as I’ve verified experimentally.

Ignore pain lasts 5 seconds, this is easy to check. Please be more rigorous in your bug list if you want to be taken seriously!

Unless there was a patch applied in the last 7 days, Endure pain most certainly does not last 5 seconds. It’s not even difficult to verify.

- Use untraited Endure Pain and you will never see the buff icon read more than 3 seconds.
- Use the “Sure Footed” trait that is supposed to increase duration by 25% (to 7.5 seconds) and you will not see the buff icon read more than 5 seconds.
- Use the Vigorous Focus trait which gives Vigor with stances and whereas with every other stance you will gain a Vigor buff equal to the duration, the Vigor boon from Endure Pain will last noticeably longer than the Endure Pain buff.

It is possible that it works correctly in spite of the buff icons, but this is difficult to test given latency and the short ~1-2 second window in which attacks need to hit to test.

Again, it is possible that they have patched this without a patch note. I have not re-tested this in ~10 days.

The signet is the ONLY choice IMO, sans dungeons and situational encounters where many players may die in a specific location (Balthazar). Otherwise you’re losing out on 50-100% uptime of: 20% crit, 175 power, 175 ConDam, and 33% movement speed…. with the right traits and runes you can make the signet a 48 sec buff on a 48 sec cooldown … its a no brainer.

Warbanner: Area of effect too small, cooldown is high, annoying to use, limited use in spvp.

AoE is OK, just takes a bit to kick in. It should apply the AoE buff on summon. No idea why it shouldn’t. The cast time is WAYYY too long for a banner. Yes it revives a potential group of downed players … but you only gain a benefit if you forego the banner buffs until at least 2 players die. The AoE revive should be an ability with a 240 sec cooldown, not a revive on summon, that way you can at least gain the banner’s buffs before players die… and then you can make the banner the normal 120 sec cooldown rather than this 4 minute shenanigans. The 3 second stability buff is garbage; picking it up to cast CC’s yourself longer than the stability you gain F.F.S.

Juggernaut: Just plain bad. The skills you gain are nothing more than an alternative weapon set. All in all an inferior version of Rampage as One, and with a higher cooldown.

I have used this maybe twice. I feel like there has to be something awesome about this ability that I haven’t discovered yet because I have to think that such a creative, unique elite skill on such a long cooldown couldn’t possibly be THIS bad…. can it?

I’m talking more along the lines of charging into large groups of players, unloading, then getting out before they chain-CC and range you to death. It can single handedly stop zergs of 10+ if done right … but as I said, the margin for error doesn’t allow for the slow banner pickups, especially when all you’re gaining is a single charge.

A request for help please

Qbert.4197

My 7 year old has been enjoying GW2 since release and he has asked me to post a question about setting up his character. He wants to use a sword/shield and a rifle for ranged and he is looking for a suggestion on which traits to opt for. I just don’t have the time I wish I did to give him any sage advice so I told him we would put it to the experts and perhaps we could get him a decent Warrior. Any help would be appreciated but please remember he is 7 and I might as well be as much as I know of the game.

Thanks in advance

Considering your son is 7, and presumably playing mostly in PvE not PvP … this is what I came up with:

(Link broken. Copy this link address) – http://gw2skills.net/editor/en/?fIAQNAU8ejkOtupO2OMxBA8BsMPK6HiuMSaKA;TIAg0CnA

- Would recommend buying the healing/utility skills in that order (left to right).
- Tell him to use gear with lots of “Condition Damage” and “Power”
- Go 15 points into the Defense Trait line first for the healing then the Arms Trait line next

That should allow him to a lot of bleed damage whether its with guns or the sword, keep enemies away from him for a really long time (and on short cooldowns), and should be a pretty fun spec for a kid, especially with all those knockbacks!

Banner’s grant nigh infinite Swiftness and the number 4 skill is a charge of sorts.

Warrior’s are one of the most mobile classes in the game. Look beyond JUST weaponry. There is never a situation where I don’t reach the battle first, unless I choose not to.

Good luck being able to grab or summon a banner then charge away in the midst of a group of players. And one charge on a long cooldown doesn’t replace two charges, one having a much shorter cooldown and the other a much longer range. The margin for error is not big enough for banners.

Sword+Warhorn. Warhorn in general. Other than GS, that’s about it.

Sword+Warhorn is the only reason I changed what I originally wrote as “every other weapon” to “almost every other weapon”. However, the Sword+WH combo is significantly weaker than Sword or Axe + Shield. Shield Stance is just too good in WvW, especially with reflect.

Warhorn alone? Meh not really. I have swiftness from my signet and can remove conditions in many ways. Weakness is nice but it’s not going to get me away from people.

Approaching 250hrs played, and try as I might to play an obscure, niche build in WvW… the raw fact that the GS will let you escape from a group of enemies while almost every other weapon will get you killed … is making the GS mandatory in WvW.

I think we can all agree that we don’t need to see any more GS warriors in WvW

Currently the Hammer is trash because it sacrifices both damage and mobility for a very modest amount of control. Add a Stability + Vigor buff somewhere in there and I might consider using the Hammer in WvW beyond a couple gimmick knockbacks per week.

Until then don’t blame us for whoring out to HB combos.

Oh, and F.F.S. do something about the cooldowns.

Display on guild roster which WvW zone members are in

Qbert.4197

Another simple, straight forward suggestion.

I prefer to WvW with my guild (crazy, right?) but short of sending whispers to every member who is in WvW to ask which zone they are in I have no way of knowing which zone to join.

This problem is exacerbated in a big way when WvW queue times are introduced because it then requires members to coordinate the zone ahead of time. Often I’ve found that people are reluctant to hassle a bunch of members for their zone info and instead default queue for Eternal BG. This overpopulates EBG and makes the other zones less appealing.

in Suggestions

Qbert.4197

Very straight forward suggestion.

Events such as Jormag can require attacking a target that is well off your field of view, as a result all combat text vs. that target will display well off screen…which can be a big issue since you will be completely unaware whether you are even in range of what you are trying to attack.

Note: I play exclusively in full screen windowed mode to utilize dual monitor features, therefor am unaware if this is an issue for other display modes.

Would like an AN confirmation on that … and if true then they really need to stop listing the effects separately in tooltips. There are a lot of examples of this distinction.

e.g. Last Stand lists both Knockdowns and Stuns, whereas Turtle’s Defense lists only stuns.

There are Stun duration Sigils that could be valuable or a waste depending on if they effect knockdowns.

It could just be a bug that stun removals remove knockdowns and it translated to the wiki, either way this is a big deal and AN needs to clarify.

Explain condition stacking to me like I'm a half-wit please.

in Warrior

Posted by: Qbert.4197

Qbert.4197

Each Boon/Condition stacks in one of only two ways:

  • Intensity
  • Duration

— The vast majority of these stack in Duration … the only Conditions that stack in intensity are Bleeds, Confusion, and Vulnerability.

Vulnerability is difficult to maintain above 10-15%, and Confusions are rare with a short duration ….

— … Meaning the only condition stacks you really need to pay close attention to are BLEEDS. (These can easily stack up to the cap of 25 stacks, can be maintained pretty well, are common across many classes, and do significant damage.)

Certain conditions that are stacked in duration should be watched as well, mainly…

  • Burning
  • Weakness
  • Poison

… because while they are not as naturally evident as Cripple/Frozen, they can be as crippling if ignored.

  • Any of these 5 conditions are things you want to make it a priority to remove if the duration gets up in the 10+ seconds range.

im 80 lvl and im still using greatsword cuz its just so much better than ranged crap, which has bad damage as well.

Naturally that won’t work if you go around with 5 signets, which is just plain stupid. I have endure pain and shake it off for pve, because they’re both required at level 80 if you wanna be a hero. If you wann get downed every 5 min be my guest and get 5 signets. I keep my 25 stacks of either luck either bloodlust all teh time cuz i dont ever get downed unless i slack a lot (IN PVE THAT IS).

Shake it off is a must for high level pve anyway, you need to cure bleed/poison stacks all teh time

well my warrior just shouts Shake it off! and gets back up

Unfortunately for both of these posters, knockdowns are a Control status, not a Condition status, and “Shake it Off” will do nothing for Controls except breaking stun (which is available on all Stance abilities).

Knockdowns are intentionally designed to be a weakness for Warriors. Your best bet is to go overkill on ‘Stability’ boons; i.e. Battle Standard, Dolyak Signet, Balanced Stance, and the Last Stand trait (when it is fixed). Then, go 30 pts into the Tactics tree and socket 2 Superior Runes of the Monk (these are hard to get), 2 Major Runes of Water, and 2 Superior Runes of Water.

This will give you the maximum + 70% boon duration which will increase those ‘Stability’ boons from the Stance/Signet from 8 seconds to 13.6 seconds each. When Last Stand gets fixed, use Endure Pain during the first knockdown then Balanced Stance when that first ‘Stability’ wears off, then the signet after that. That’ll give you 40 seconds of ‘Stability’ with a 40 second cooldown (until the 2nd signet) use. This is all without using the Elite Banner which you’ll probably save for when 2+ party members go down.

Sure Footed doesnt change Endure Pain. According to sure footed’s tooltip it should increase stance durations by 25% which would push the 5 second Endure Pain to around 6 seconds. Which it doesnt.

This is false. Sure Footed does increase Endure Pain’s duration … the issue is that the base Endure Pain duration is broken and only lasting ~3 seconds instead of the intended 5 seconds.

I’ve tested this extensively.
