So I go and kill the Maw or Tequiti in the world events which take 60-120 seconds and get two rares, one from the daily chest and one from the boss chest.
I go and cap 5 keeps and take 10 supply camps (with a zerg) for an hour or two, and get a fine/masterwork and a siege weapon (worth less than a silver) from the rank chest.
I am not sure what else to say….
you expected to get the same rewards in WvW than in PvE? this is where you went wrong
lemme introduce you this nce PvE game, maybe you havent heard about it. its called GW2.
WvW is not the main focus. it isnt the secondary focus either. hell, at this point I even doubt they focus on it at all
ANet works on PvE. then on more PvE. then on MOAR PvE
and when they get tired of that, they relax by…working on more PvE
Not sure what else to expect from Chaos Primach scum (woo wh40k) but I don’t like this argument. You could level in WvW, there are events, there has always been a bit of support for WvW since the beginning (left for 8 months so seems it might have waned) but all in all WvW has been a part of the game. Asking for the rewards to be upped isn’t asking for it to be on par with PvE. Dying to zergs and losing ton of money for repairs is crap no matter how you spin it.
Having just a little more reward isn’t unreasonable. Actually, a red post clearly says that the team agrees. So what you’re saying doesn’t even really make sense since the developers themselves think WvW’s reward is too low. I thought Guild Wars was all about PvP. Apparently that is where I went wrong.

There were free transfers when the game launched. People would transfer to another server to spy on their WvW rivals.
Huh. I never heard of even a single verified case of that – just a bunch of the usual troll suspects on the forum saying “Yep, that’s what I’d do” whenever it was brought up.
There was rampant Stormbluff sending people to SoS to spy on them back in the day, lol. I know because the guild in my sig did it. >.>

I would like to take this moment and apologize to Kain. I’m back after a very long break, I’ve several level 80s and I’ve decided to stick with my thief. So, uh, the apology comes into play because I don’t remember how to play my class. I roll mostly shortbow and then dagger/dagger. I’ve won the 1v1 fights but I think it is mostly luck. Luck and smashing skills that send me flying over my enemy so many times we both get turned around.
I might not add a whole lot in terms of skills to my server but I do run around ressing everyone! So if you see a knightly looking Asura female in the Hugs for the Hug God guild, please, don’t hurt me too badly. Please. Don’t hurt me. ;_;
Looks like a tough match up though, we’ve got our work cut out for us. I’ll be up to par soon enough so long as I keep managing to avoid dat DB zerg. Not even my ultra neato flying asura skillz save me then. >.>

Well you know in life when something gets hard you should just run away from it.
It is a video game. It is not even close to the same thing as real life. The guy finds the game unfun, voiced his opinion, and is getting blasted for it. The game is played for /fun/ and if it isn’t fun for you anymore you should not play.
It is an easy concept to understand. It has nothing to do with the difficulty of the game.
“Check your inbox. Infractions for everyone!” – Oprah
Dude seriously? Stop whining. I have used the same Ranger build while changing out a few skills here and there and the game doesn’t seem any more “difficult”. I don’t use builds everyone else uses because im not a loser. Try making your OWN character instead of trying to farm. For example I have found my ranger is a superior support, healing character compared to most guardians. Considering 1: I usually survive longer than everyone else, 2: My healing and protection is better.
So people who find popular builds fun and dislike seeing them altered are whining losers? Well, that is lovely. So you found a build on -your- character that -you- like. Just like a bunch of people found builds that they like. If they nerfed your build I’m sure you would have a thought on the matter.
But, being a jerk is cool too, I guess, so have at it.

Amazing responses, super pro.
Took a break and played some other games. Mostly worked on Tera because I could play an actual healer. I came back to surf the forums as Guild Wars 2 updates, see what the vibe is. I don’t really know about the nerfs so hopefully my characters aren’t too afflicted.
Asking for a refund might be a little much though since it has been so long since launch though and you sound like you’ve been around to be put through the ringer with the changes. The game is free to play once you’ve bought it, so at least there is that. You could always come back later as I did and see how things have gone.

rae i find that running in the boarderlands is much more enjoyable . was in EB yesterday the commanders were not speaking to each other, then when they where they where putting each other down . boarderlands though seems to have commanders that work well with each other and comminucate alot more. now im not saying eb is always like that sense 95% of my time is in the BL but thats how it was yesterday when i was in it .
I’m in NoPe which focuses on EB primarily. I do agree, BLs are a little more fun but I enjoy the chaos of the closeness in EB.

I’m left wondering what happened to SBI.
So, we breach QL. I drop a portal, run behind all the ballistas, and drop portal. No one took it. 20 players butchered without hope due to siege and their own folly.
I drop portal at breached SM inner, run all the way into SM center to find all of SoS, tons of siege, and JQ running absolutely amok. So I drop a portal behind the siege before lag and whatever gets me whacked.
I got called a “Noob kitten mesmer” for not dropping at a ramp. Wanna know what was on the ramp? Ballista, several ACs, and a bunch of AoEing SoS. There was no getting there.
A player ran away from Vlad and me while we manned ballistas and got killed outside of range by entering Dane alone while several SoS were there.
Got downed and port’ed to the feet of a bunch of ULers. They instead of attempting to help anyone at all just left us to die and they were over run shortly after.
This degradation of SBI is disheartening. We’re NOTHING we used to be. We suffered a lot of Korean losses, a bunch of NA losses, and now we need to pull together yet all anyone seems to do is drift. HUGE shout out to Jang Un (I think sorry if misspelled!) who has done a great job herding the Korean zerg along side the English speakers.
In my humble opinion we do not deserve to be in Tier 1 until we relearn the basics.

Full carrion gear. Greatsword/Staff.
30/0/10/30. (Only justified with that 10 for fall dam in WvW)
Power makes me hit rather hard and my illusions hit like a pro.
Condition damage makes switching to staff viable.
Sit at around 26k HP. Enables me to muck up in a dungeon without too much trouble.
This is my 5th 80, I’ve played Thief for a while but never really committed to one class however I am finding Mesmer to really take a hold of my interest. Might as well find out what I can improve.

I ran through like 30 SoS, behind their siege, and dropped my portal exit and began shouting portal.
No one at QL took it, instead they elected to get slaughtered by siege weapons. This is why I think we no longer deserve to be in T1 and really need to rework how we do stuff. We facerolled to T1, owned it, then lost everything that made us good.
On top of WM’s huge losses and all the other losses to other games because no love for WvW til Febuary.

NO DUNGEONS, NO DUNGEONS, and please, no dungeons. I’m losing my mind listening to “Is JP camped?” or “JQs camping us with siege in JP” while JQ and SoS are smashing us on two different fronts.

I don’t understand why Zhaitan is such a bad guy.
I mean sure he attacks lions’ arch, but that’s likely in response to 100’s of adventurers pillaging his empire.
When he does get his empire back because all the invaders decided to do fractal reruns he doesn’t invade or anything, he just chills in his empire happy to finally have some peace and quiet.
Stop being cretins and attacking orr, they are just minding their own business.
I hate when I go into the kitchen to make a sandwich and turn into a minion of Zhaitan. We’re all misunderstood.

That was the title of the topic I created (“Bag of Gold? Bag of lies!”) , but some moderator apparently decided to edit it and didn’t even add a note saying he had done so…
Anyway, my main point is that they shouldn’t exist at all. They’re just a useless intermediate step requiring extra mouse clicks and extra inventory space.

On top of that though in all of the lore I’ve ever seen I’ve never seen anything that would validate the use of such heavy handed CC. Slowing and crippling sure, understandable, but all the other stuff? What kitten zombie throws axes and whips you forward? That entire thing is out of place.
If zombies did that we wouldn’t need busty naked women in shower scenes in horror movies. Nor would we have the oh no I fell in the woods scene. It’d be straight up zombies breaking legs and throwing dudes all over.

You’re shifting off focus. It isn’t about zones like Orr, I agree with you, but the types of lame mobs implimented.
On that then…. the way I see things is that Orr is a bit of a cliche’ theme… they’re Zombies… what do zombies do? They drag you down, crush you under the weight of numbers and nom on you.
Not the most sophisticated beasts in the world… but the way they behave in Orr is exactly what I would expect from Zombies.
I think if we had more variety in lvl 80 zones, this wouldn’t feel so bad. I would expect a themed zone focused on the Flame Legion to make me worry less about getting caught, and more about getting mass degened via burning… I would expect heavy daze / confusion / WTF IS THAT THING moments in an Inquest heavy zone….
Orr is mechanically true to it’s theme. I don’t like the zombie motif, but I get it. I’m okay with Orr working like it does…. but I will join a movement for more end game zones that introduce different types of mechanical difficulty.
So when you picture zombies you picture monsters that pull you forward, knock you down, sink you, and then bite your ankles? Fair enough. You get to direct the next Romero movie.

Most fun I ever had in Orr was taking a group down to Malchor’s Leap to do every event in the zone.
I would be happy to find one event there which isn’t stuck, on my server.
I actually like the look of Malchor’s Leap, and I think some areas have great atmosphere (like the part of the ocean when you dive and everything goes black, you can’t even tell which side is up). But there are usually 2 or 3 players in the whole area, practically every event is stuck with some unresponsive NPCs or bugged progress bars, and every mob respawns 10 seconds after you kill it, so there is absolutely no sense of accomplishment.
I had a lengthy post over in the DE sub forum on a Malchor’s Leap thread about doing DEs in Leap, but I’ll be honest, I’ve found DEs in Leap to be far less bugged than DEs in Straits or Shore. It’s part of why I planned a guild event in Leap. Obviously, your mileage may vary.
I’m pretty agressive when I play in Leap…. I talk a LOT in /map, and work hard to get ad-hoc groups coordinated enough to do the Lyssa chain because I find the challenge so much fun.
I feel the same way about the Balthazar event in Straits… one of the most fun events in the game, and I’ve been seriously bummed that it’s been stuck for so long, I’m really hoping that the DEC 3 patch resolved the event a bit better.
I dunno, maybe I’m just nuts, but all in all, I would like to see more zones like Orr…. would love to see a Lvl 80 Charr zone getting seriously bombarded by Flame Legion, or a lvl 80 Asura Zone that’s neck deep in inquest and golems….
You’re shifting off focus. It isn’t about zones like Orr, I agree with you, but the types of lame mobs implimented.

it makes for much more intense game play.
I also like the architecture.
I like the whole zombie army thing it makes sense to me.
flame suit deployed
I am not here to flame you, my friend.
No one disputes the DEs and the lack of harts. What you’re missing is the point entirely. Nothing in Orr adds to intense game play. It -makes- it seem harder than it really is using parlor tricks and none of the many ways that difficulty can be implimented and control of the character remain in the player’s hands. I want what you want. I want intense game play. I want to walk into Orr and feel like I’m there to kick the kitten end of a Titan. Except, what I get is dead person surfing via knock back pull forward. It sucks.

This thread is getting a lot more momentum than I thought it would. It is good to share our opinions of Orr, and hopefully someone reading the thread will take that into consideration. Artificial difficulty doesn’t add anything at all. Adding challenging mobs would be a smart move.
Take the giants for instance. They’re challenging and drop mini mobs. They don’t need to CC you and while you’re dodging their grubs and what not you feel like one wrong move will cost you your life.
Currently, one wrong move in Orr is like bordering the Superman at Six Flags while severely hung over. You’re whirling and flying and being shoved in so many directions you’re likely to get sick all over.

putting on flame kittenant jacket
I don’t have problems moving around Orr. As zones go, I kind of like Orr…. Loved Straits for a long time, but Malchor’s Leap has really grown on me.
Now, I’m not saying I can move around with my Map screen up, and some times you have to smack things around a little… (not every mob, or even close, but some times, you need to kill some trash really quick to move on.)
Mobility skills are a must…. mobility is it’s own form of survivability…. and anything that lets you break agro is handy on those occasions you get caught… but if you pay attention, just moving around isn’t that rough.
Ok. First off, you’re right. It isn’t a zone to navigate with the map on. I can respect that because that is how it is supposed to be. I’d be disappointed if it were just a Hello Kitty simulator.
Have you ever -tried- to do -anything-? Skill points or anything? You can kill all the mobs you’d like and then you turn around and they’re back. Might as well give them party hats and alcohol, they’re like the failed frat boys of college, everywhere you don’t want them to be.
Quite frankly I had the same thoughts as you. Then I leveled up a bunch of alts. Do Orr three or four times and see if you’ve still got those googly eyes for the mobs.
I’m going to need Prozac because of that zone.

No, Citizen Snips can go to the burning abyss.
Good that you like Fractals, they seemed fun and I’ve been in a few. Never was interested to run more. Anyways, seems they’re super rewarding compared to actively trying to do anything in Orr. Oh, and finding an Arah group is almost impossible so running the Orr dungeon which was actually fun is impossible unless you get into speed run 1st boss runs.
Orr has potential. Instead they nerfed the events, ramped up the frustration levels, and released the Fractals like they were Posidon letting lose the kraken and sure enough everyone ran the hell out of those zones right into the fractals. I shall sound off with my favorite quote.
Risen are awesome! – Said no one, ever.

You realize that if they gave us a nuke option it would require 10,000 of each T6 mat, a billion various lodestones, and detonator that’s RNG but can only be rolled on in the forge if you supply 1000 T6 mats split into the four forge slots.
And then you have to sacrifice the first born of a Gorgon precisely six seconds after midnight Friday the 13th.
“Check your inbox. Infractions for everyone!” – Oprah
Agreed. Screw Orr, the worst high level one ever. I just craft my character’s from 70 to 80 to avoid that place lol. It’d be better if they decreased the amount of mobs in that zone by a lot. Maybe they should think more quality over quantity.
Higher hitpoints, stronger hits, tricks moves to avoid, and maybe shorted lived knock downs could improve the zone. This CC stuff is just artificial difficulty. Maybe you’re able to dodge one of the many, many CCs but you’re bound to just be overwhelmed by numbers alone.
I agree. Cull the number down, improve the AI, and for the love of furry kittens please stop the CC madness. ;_;
