Is this from the mini-Silverwastes instance? If you’ve completed the first story section, but you’re still stuck there, then leave the map and re-enter the regular Silverwastes for an unblocked portal.

I had the same issue, when one of my characters got disconnected after completing the first story segment, but before the waypoint in the next zone had unlocked. I was booted back to that mini-silverwastes instance, with no way obvious way to progress.

If I’m generous, I guess HoT provided me with a weekends worth of gliding/jumping around fun, before the feeling of being a grindy, offensively noninclusive (GUILDS!), poor value mess, set in.

Still, it’s hard to say I regret purchasing, because I think I needed to see it with my own eyes. It’s likely my last ANet purchase, though.

It’s a WvW title.

Meh, I wasn’t interested in Raids, I was resigned to Guild Halls being a bust, but getting pushed out of open world? This isn’t optional side-content for crying out loud. How does ANet still have the gall to use the “play your way” slogan, when they’re busily crushing every play-style that doesn’t fit their current narrow vision?

If you’re not level 80, then wait. There’s nothing in it for lower levels and it’s not like you benefit from buying a product immediately after launch.

They’re not interested. It’s like they specifically wanted to spit on solos & duos. I did get a laugh out of being commended on my “Team Work” for all the unlocks I had, by the guild initiative NPC, though.

HoT scouts? The one by the first Verdant Brink waypoint did it for me.

Go to “Camp Resolve” waypoint in “The Silverwastes”. Press “H” and select “Story Journal”, then select “Heart of Thorns” and click “Begin This Story”. Follow the green markers from there.

Slots go out weekly, usually by end of Friday.

You get the mini when you combine the wolf, the ram and the hart in the mystic forge.

masteries points seem to have been removed/disabled in BWE#3. i ran into a few in BWE#2. some which required gliding

i cant remember what those mastery points done. the mastery UI was very confusing for me in BWE#2. kept saying i had all these points but didnt know how to use them

That’s a good point. I just think enough points should be earned on the first story mission to unlock gliding tier 1 at the point you enter the map.

I don’t mind them generally, but very much agree with this. I logged out after doing the story yesterday, because I just couldn’t be bothered with grinding the glider again.

Raids are fine so long as ANet respects that there are those of us who won’t be doing them under any circumstances. ANet has form on trying to shove everyone into everything – which is bad for players who don’t like the content and bad for those who do, because it gets diluted to be manageable by the majority and not the group that actually wants it.

Ooh, we’re doing snark now? Well I don’t like games that reduce themselves to checklists of inane activities. Why do I have to see that daily rubbish on the side of my screen every time I log in? At least all the other achievement garbage is hidden.

When this was data-mined I was hoping there would finally be an alternative to running Fractals for the Bloodstone feeder, but nope (assuming that list is accurate), it’s just a cheap bag of Silverwastes crap.

The primary gifts for years 1 and 3 might be delivered to an individual character, but they are not solely usable by that character. Only year 2 has been soul-bound.

That’s because they are part of systems which are account bound (i.e. wardrobe). Miniatures themselves have also always been account wide (or no restrictions at all) regardless of the wardrobe.

True, but that really just suggests that ANet designers will make matters inconvenient, unless a system supplants that inconvenience. It’s not like they had to flag it soul-bound.

For the UK, keep an eye on Amazon – they went down to £23 a month ago (unfortunately back to full price now). It’s the only reason I pre-purchased.

The outfit can be previewed in the outfits section of the hero panel (it will display in whatever dyes you have selected for outfits).

If you want to preview the outfit with dyes you don’t own, then preview it from the wardrobe section of the bank and add dye previews from the trading post (find the dye and right-click).

Sorry, but it was awful. Wistfully talking about a group tackling it with TS is all well and good, but when you’ve got people showing up and ignoring instructions, you’re left stuck in a painfully dull event, that’s doomed to failure (and very grief-able) . Could work in a group instance, or maybe a less important side event, but we don’t need ANet to learn how to let a handful of people ruin event chains.

I don’t know if this is “intended”, but you can get 6 charges for each beta character by going to each of the cities (city completion reward is given the moment you first enter).

As mentioned, there’s likely to be a sale at the end of the month. Even if you decide to trade gems for gold, wait for the prices to spike during the sale.

I would certainly hope not.

I love these threads where people make it sound like someone has a gun pointed to their face to do content. When will they learn?

^This. If you want a legendary back piece then do what is required. No one is “forcing” you to do anything.

Yes, but in the real world we don’t have silly MMO constraints. You literally buy the car you want. You don’t take a particular job, because it’s required to buy a particular car.

Unfortunately ANet are going more that way because the “I want shinies that represent my achievements” crowd have been so very vocal. Force might be the wrong word, but this approach does make games quite tiresome, in my opinion. Everything gets reduced to a checklist of chores.

You should have planned ahead. I stopped doing dailies to avoid this problem.

The lvl 20 Guard is just a name place-holder for a Rev.

If duos can’t capture or upgrade Guild Halls, then that will be disappointing. It also makes a key feature of HoT redundant to me, and it’s not like the package reeks of value for money, as is.

It was JP’s for the “Star of Gratitude” and Fractals for “Mawdrey II”. Personally, I prefer JP’s. I still haven’t bothered with Mawdrey, because of the Fractal requirement.

It would be nice to have alternatives for anything that has a “function”, though. Skins gated behind particular content is fine, but items with unique functionality is a bit iffy, IMO.

The posters being called “whiners”, “crybabies” and now “jerks” are people, too.

Since I’m only interested in the explorable maps, it’s not worth it to me.

I recently gave RSI (Star Citizen) another $50 for a virtual spaceship, in a game that won’t likely be anywhere near complete for a couple of years. I don’t mind supporting a project I’m enthusiastic about.

I’m not in the same place with ArenaNET. There’s just no way I’d give them $50 for what reads like a grab bag of “value-added” features and little real content.

The real reason is that they put a function on the Birthday NPC to re-spawn this item, if you’ve deleted it – so they’re soulbound to stop them from being duplicated. I don’t think it has anything to do with ideological nonsense on who or whats birthday it is.

I don’t see the validity of that argument at all. Saying that Zhaitan needs more than one guy to beat him, is no justification for ending the story in a 5-player dungeon. Anything that truly required an army to defeat, should have taken place in open-world.

This was literally the worst gaff ANet made with the GW2 launch and it’s shameful they still haven’t fixed it.

1. Scaling (party size) dungeons.

2. Real PvP that’s as much fun as some of the festival PvP.

3. The Queensdale cave troll promoted back to Champion and buffed to be kitten near unkillable. Not missing champ trains – I just want to see him out in the fields attacking cattle, after all the players have ran away or are lying dead. Miss those early days. :-(

4. Ascended gear re-balanced to be 1% weaker than exotic.

5. Fractals removed from the game and replaced with SAB.

It was an event in Guild Wars 1: Factions, which had an Asian style/setting.

Also: Columbus isn’t Tyrian, so I wouldn’t get your hopes up. Maybe there’s a famous Tyrian explorer they could celebrate, but I can’t say I can think of one, unless “Nicholas The Traveler” counts…

Same. It’s probably an oversight, and it probably shouldn’t make me as angry as it does, but I log out in disgust every time I see that.

Fix it, ANet – and while you’re at it, get rid of last years Mawdrey Fractal requirement and stop trying to push the kittening things! If you want to sell expansion packs, start demonstrating that you can respect what people want to do with their time.

Neither me nor a relative have been able to access characters in or travel to Divinity’s Reach today.

With you OP. This event is boring and frustrating as hell. I’d forgotten just how bad it was – clearly every year I must just log-out in disgust, then get so drunk over Xmas that any brain cells holding memory of this abomination are killed off.

Then the following year, I remember how great Wintersday was in GW1 and start looking forward to it again.

To top it all off this year, I can’t even do the small amount of new content, because they’ve disabled it.

If ANet pulled that again, I’d uninstall and never look back – forced group content as a mandatory living story step is not acceptable.

I totally support any calls for more dungeons, btw. Even if I’m not interested in them, I get that other players are. I just feel they should be entirely optional, with their own reward structures. I find it intolerable when pug/guild content gets interwoven with solo/open-world content.

I still haven’t forgiven ANet for the Mawdrey/Fractals debacle.

I didn’t see anything like this today. I think we’ve just reached a point where a section of the community is looking for “farms” to troll/complain out of existence.

Paying to be attacked is PvP? Sounds more like Players vs Masochists.

I’ve been using a macro for this since Guild Wars 1.

Despite the skimpiness not usually being to my taste, I actually used to like this outfit, when it was first released in GW1. Back then it had large raven wings and you could switch the silly hood for other head gears, like the fantastic GW1 “Demonic Horns”.

Shame it doesn’t look this good in GW2:
