OP meant the population of the smallest server. Which in the worst case is around 5 people across all maps, which means a total of 45 across all 4 of my maps. If you think about it, 5 isn’t that far-fetched if a server decides that today is not the day to get run over. This means if some people decide they don’t like your face and not want to play, they can stop you from farming wvw rewards too.
Let’s say we go with your suggestion and have a cap of 80 during which you already own most of the structures, then I fail to see the usefulness of such a system.

If you end up in a queue because of a system like this you still have three other maps to choose from. It’s not like you can’t play….
I was assuming this system would apply to all the wvw maps? Also there is nothing to guarantee the enemy server will have few players on other maps making it difficult for you to join as well.

Check this picture out. It’s some kind of super leet build. For your info, I am not running full glass and I’ve never done this kind of condi dmg in wvw either. Even worse is the fact that this was done by an elementalist.
Edit: Only logical reasoning I can think of is I got hit with enough stacks of vulnerability, but does vulnerability affect condi damage, and why have I never hit this kind of number before? I’ve been playing condi heavy builds recently too.

I think it would be a great new commander feature. The upgraded version would have little button that reel in the leash instead of just pulling it.

Sometimes in the heat of things, my squad tag just flies out of screen. Left and right has no meaning after I pan my viewcam and sometimes I jump into 1v blob because of lost direction. Pls put a tiny arrow to show the direction of the squad commander!
Guess they really tanked for real and good this time. Rofl. Such a shame it was the first T1 server I faced. I can still remember the huge megablob filtering into my screen outside garri, reminding me how lousy my display settings were to handle such a chunk of ppl.

I also seem to remember that a lot of mechanics were brough in with HoT due to tweaks to the engine they introduced there. It’s not like they had no ideas before, it’s just that some required a lot of work before they were even able to implement them. Fixation is possibly the only mechanic that truly came from raids and raids alone, and its because it’s not needed outside raids.

I totally agree with you man. For a long time, people complained that there wasn’t anything to do once they got their ascended, all characters to level 80, beat all dungeons and fractals. It was high time Anet introduced a gated gear system to match the other competitive MMOs out there to give people things to aim for. So that anyone who was decently geared and knew their characters well enough could aim for the end-game content just like any MMO out there, or any F2P MMO or those Korean MMOs. Now I have so many goals and aims and I spend all my non-working hours in-game in GW2 because this is teh bomb!
For many players the situation is still the same. Quite a lot of people were doing dungeons which are not able/willing/whatever to raid.
These players are left behind and the game is an even worse situation now.
I agree that content as raids are needed and healthy if done right.
But currently I’m under the impression that raids have replaced new fractals/dungeons or other similar content which adress a wider audience than raids – and I don’t think this is healthy for the game.

His contexts aren’t a prime time perspective, I live in asia, play in NA servers. Cleared 13/13 weekly before I quit and only log in for raids, nothing else.
I stopped playing just before raids came out. Played other games and joined again about august 2016 to do raids. None of my friends were playing, I had no contacts anymore and was completely solo. Jumped into raids and after 1 month 9/9 clear with some raid achieves (about 4 hours total in a week split into 2 days). Bastion of Penitent came out cleared, leggy armor came out got it after 2nd week – ish. Quit again till expansion.
If you’ve played mmos for that long then you should know it;s more of a people challenge than a mechanical skill/field awareness challenge. You shouldn’t have any trouble finding the right people with the tools available to you

wvw rewards do not exclude ppl, ppl just decided that the rewards are not worth the time and effort. raids dont even allow ppl to try to begin with because u can’t decide u want to play today and u play today. u play when there is a slot most probably because some ppl weren’t online and u are the backup

well I have a solution for the difference in LFG situations between NA and non-NA time if anyone cares to listen. Since there will be fewer players willing to pug raids during non prime-time, difficulty of raids should be sized according to the number of players available. For example, half the number of people needed on green circles in Vale Guardian, halfed hp of all bosses, list goes on. This sizing can happen after the Naryans go to sleep, which means anywhere between 11:59am to 11:59pm EST for example.
The problem is that what you describe in no way guarantees success. Putting that effort and looking around for options does not mean it’s going to bring results. Most people will not make it.
I don’t think guaranteed success is something any game needs.
What i meant is that two people doing exactly the same things, and putting exactly the same amount of effort can have wildly different results depending on their amount of luck and the people they happen to know. Vinceman’s opinion seems based only on observing the results of the most succesful of that group.

I’m beginning to think the reason why raids are so difficult to find despite pro-activeness is because the playerbase has indeed shrunk. At any point in time, there seems to be only 1 at most 2 hot meta on lfg (before it starts obviously).

Ok so she has over 100 Li and so doesn’t need to spend alot of time getting people to raid with her. Ye that’s what astral and I have been saying. I can talk and post alot too. I can really talk about the wonderful time I had in dreamland without relations to the topic etc.
People who refute this are probably those who have a fixed static group and love the elitism this gives them. How legendary will raids be if any tom kitten and Harry can jump into them as and when they want to practise or run. Like why should they?
In general, if you are new to raiding, you either need a static group, or a lot of luck. Most new players won’t get either.
I disagree strongly, you just need to invest time and effort. Luck is on top of that and you can influence it with being nice & gentle to other people, well-prepared (guides, gear etc. pp.) and open-minded.
The most important thing: Be pro-active.

Fact is, there are plenty lfgs around sunday prime time, even before & after. Maybe, but that was explained to you, you are in the wrong subsection. People are not inviting you so you can wait until you are picked up, you have to look for groups actively.

the absence of a good system to allocate for players interested to start raids is also another challenge. i can observe a ton of players who want to raid but are unable to because of how “challenging” it is.

I don’t know about that. The map wasn’t full but it definitely wasn’t underpopulated. We had 4 tags up and were onto the second Gerent appearance when “Server lost connection” or something happened and we were all booted to the Order of Whispers Camp waypoint, including my squad’s lead.
Instead of map never closes before a meta begins, why not have a faster detection rate of the population within a map. I mean why go ahead to close when it has a sizeable population?
Just want to add something here pertaining to something I recently found out about the precursor heavy armor. If I’m not wearing the gloves, my norn guardi’s hands float! Is this the same for the legendary armor?

That’s a great move! I killed sabetha about 12 hours ago and did get anything. Not even the legendary insight. Funny thing is that she did not reset this week though I killed her last week. Meaning she wasn’t in my map when I opened the raid (after killing Vale guardian and gorseval)

LFGs last for hours because most raidleaders put up their own lfm and have people join on their raid and then decide who they keep.
Why would I as raid lead (as example not that I always run lead) bother looking through the lfgs when I can put in my own lfm with what I need and have people come to me? If you are looking as a solo person for a raid and expect people to handpick your lfg and invite you, you must either play a very desired role which right at this moment is in short supply(chronotank or druid heal/kiter) or a very inflated ego. One of those 2 will not get you invited.
Just to be clear, if you are dps number 5,673,921 with your l33t 300 LI hoping to get picked up out of the lfg? Keep waiting, I just had 3 other dps with 301 LI message me about a spot.
On topic, raids are fine. Let’s hope the new elite specialisations actually are sidegrades because even a slight amount of powercreep could destabilize the current ecosystem of easy and medium fights with nicht challenge mode versions.

Learning raids is relatively easy as there are plenty of information readily available on the internet if you would spend some effort to search and read. It is comparatively much easier than finding a proper group to raid with. Raids are a step towards GW1. Closed off content. However, this has improved alot since raids first came out.
With respect to Vale Guardian, the difficulty is actually propped up by the slight RNG involved (green circles spawning in neon sectors).
