I think we shouldn’t be so quick to dismiss the possibility of tanking. If say I were to be a leader of a guild of 50 dedicated wvw players and we’re part of an alliance who agreed not to play for a period of time. That would definitely have an impact on population metrics. I think the population is measured on activity, right or no?

Really the only servers who seem to want to be t1 and enjoy it’s blob play style is BG TC JQ, and really after spending so much time up there by themselves building for that style of blob play it’s to be expected for other servers to falter after a while, YB and DB. Can JQ rebuild their NA to stay up there? they’re open again, or will Mag push up there by default when DB drops.

NA prime in T1 is blobby as hell but OCX/SEA actually isn’t that blobby and is the only tier where there is consistent action. If you’re looking for GvGs in OCX for example, T1 is the only place where you can do it (eN/LATE/TF/KnM etc).

If you want blob fights in SEA? T1 is the only place for it. Every other tier is PvDoor and that’s boring. There is a reason most OCX/SEA players transfer UP not down and it isn’t to PvDoor or win the PPT. It’s for people to play with/against.

What NA prime people fail to understand is, there is extremely low population of OCX/SEA players nowadays such that even to congregate on 3 servers there’d be maybe 1 map queue on each, or 2 if lucky. This is evident in all game modes, there aren’t enough of us to go around unlike NA. We don’t have that luxury to move to different tiers.

So sure you can cheer for DB’s collapse and look at it as lol wagonbrand kek but in the end all this NA bandwagoning is hurting OCX/SEA players on JQ/DB who just want to play the game really.

Also now with the linking business going on there’s no more stability of T1 so if you get a bad roll week then that’s basically no action the entire week (eg. JQ capped 10 keeps in SEA on a Saturday night). But yeah yeah PPT PPT PPT scoring changes blah blah is all NA ever cares about.

Ocx, sea is actually a very loose term. People always go “Asians” “Asians” but how many are REALLY Asians lol. This game is really unfriendly to people outside of NA and getting unfriendlier by the minute.

I recommend that anet puts in a buff for all those logging in with NA ip addresses. The buff shall be called “sons of the soil”. This way, NA ppl with night shifts will not be affected as well.

The buff should give the following benefits:
- Hitting people (preferably with ele lightning whip) whose ip addresses are outside of NA will curse them with an aura that makes whatever ppt points they earn be gifted to the attacker’s server. This should last 12 hours.
- structures capped by players with this buff will gain ten times armour lasting exactly twelve hours. If the structure is capped with a large amount of players with this buff, it will gain auto-healing skills.
- Players with this buff will have a probability that mobs and enemy Npcs will suddenly fall dead at their feet.

Being one if the colour blind people what I would like to see is a tag that glows if its the one I am following. Similar to what it does when you cursor over it now except it doesn’t stop glowing.

That would make it super easy to spot always.

This is valid, all the other requests are not valid. Were not gonna put a giant COMMANDER text wall ontop of everyones map for the sake of one human defect.

Actually this is a pretty good idea. It can be enabled or disabled as an option. I’m not colourblind but I will surely say yes to this on asura commanders

This again! There was the previous poll on whether to continue using the DBL or not which won with 65% of the vote.

Oh there was? Was it before or after the poll to have 1 BL or 2 BL be dbl? If it was after it must still be sitting in my mail unopened.

I don’t understand the hate for the DBL’s… since Anet removed some of the more annoying functions of the map (barricades and the lag inducing map event) it was pretty solid.

I like the “new” Tower Lords as they actually seem to be unique, and interesting to fight. Unlike the samey Tower Lords in the ABL’s. Same goes for the Keep Lords.

I also like that there seems to be more avenues of approach across the map than in the alpines (though that could just be more subjective).

Does it take a little longer to get around, sure, but is it really THAT much longer? I doubt it.

I’d rather take the DBL over the ABL anyday

Does it remind you of the T8 maps from whence you came, dearie? Miles of running around without seeing anyone?

A flat grassland with 3 towers (just straight stairs leading to a room with no walls, when you capture the tower you get a cookie). Done!

I would like see how a city map works in WvW.

Something along the lines of Divinity’s Reach, Ebonhawke or the Black Citadel but with the standard set of objectives.

Black Citadel, are you kidding me? I can’t even stand to set foot in that place. Ugly and convoluted. The opposite of what we need in WvW.

Aesthetics are irrelevant – I was talking conceptually.

I mean a tighter map where people are going to run into each other but roamers/havoc can avoid zergs by taking back streets, tunnels etc.

Wide maps like deserted BL are not fun – so I think a tight map like a city would be worth a try.

That’s the battle concept in a map. I think the designer needs to envision where the battles should be and what kind of battles can be fought. Like choke points, slight terrain elevation etc. The map design needs to consider actual class skills too. Which is why the designer would be better in his design if he actually plays or commands in wvw. I guess skins can come once the terrain is better designed.

Score should be rewarded for active play. However a blob is technically active play as well, so I don’t think just awarding score for brainless, active play should exist.

I’ve said it before and I think that one thing that would help a lot is for ANet to somehow implement a system that awards more score immediately for capturing/defending an objective with a smaller force and scales inversely with the size of the group.

Examples:

  • 10 people capture a supply camp. No war score for that server vs 1 person solo-captures a supply camp, a small amount of war score is immediately given to that server
  • 20+ person blob captures an un-upgraded tower. No war score for capturing the tower vs a 5 person group capturing a T2 tower, a moderate amount of war score is immediately given to that server
  • 20+ person blob capturing a keep. A moderate amount of war score immediately awarded to that server vs a 10 person group capturing the keep. They get a larger amount of warscore for their server since they did it with a smaller group.
  • Any group that captures SM should receive a large amount of Warscore immediately if it was defended, but more should be awarded to smaller groups, or groups fighting through stronger defending (read: more people defending).

It allows Blobs to run around with no penalty relative to how they perform now (they don’t lose any war score or karma), but encourages smaller groups by rewarding them more than it would if they were in a blob. It also encourages capturing keeps (which I don’t see happen too often) since your server could gain some immediate warscore and not have to wait for the ticks.

This is going to make your server mates hate you for running with them. I can foresee more friction and closed off plays because there is no way to stop ppl from grouping and should we? There is currently already some advantage in people taking camps with small numbers because it frees up the other players to take other objectives. So it is not like there isn’t an advantage, it is just not obvious.

Anet is trying to teach everyone the meaning of life: that it is one big circle. No beginning no end and no point. Starting first with the hot map dragon stand, then Auric Basin and I realised after coming back from a break that silverwaste is now also one big kitten, it is clear that no point is the way to go. Actually if you looked at dbl, it seems like a circle in the middle too. That’s right. There’s no point to fighting.

You don’t need to get gold for the majority of the adventures to get max mastery points. Actually, you should get better the more you do the adventures and this in turn brings you closer to gold, i hope. So the time isn’t exactly wasted. Well it did for me, and watching guides helps alot too, so you know what to do. I think some adventures are pretty fun, sanctum sprint, a fungus among us, the flying thing in tarir, the other flying thing with circle checkpoints. It’s probably the pressure to get gold that makes people lose the fun factor. But if mastery points were so easy to get, then where would the prestige be in having a high level

I highly doubt having multiple races actually causes issues with armor design. The reality is the majority of armor is designed on a human model and then shoehorned on to the others. It’s only really a problem on Charr, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they use a script to snap human armor onto a Charr and then possible try and fix some clipping… Given how most of the armor looks like butt on a Charr, I highly doubt they actually build and model each armor by gender and race separately. There are a few exceptions where Charr get some special features like the tail dragon or fiery tail, but not enough where I’d consider it a real possibility. I think most people simply state that to make excuses for Anet dragging their feet on armor. If they want to weigh in and tell me I’m wrong than I’m all ears and I’d like to know why Charr tails clip so badly then.

I actually agree with this post very much. Charr armour is just a rip off of human armour. We should embrace charr for what they are, big cats. I think Charr armour should be cat skins or tweaked to enhance features unique only to the race, such as their tails. Most armour have skirts or butt-wraps that just cover up their pretty tails or fur markings. Don’t even get me started on female outfits on charr

I made a post previously about how siege adds a variety to wvw. But as with most things, it’s bad when taken too much. Repair hammers and cannon blueprints sound like a bad idea to me. Currently T2 is fast becoming siege wars 2 with every server retaliating with more siege, fight groups are getting bored. Please don’t add more siege into game.

Why don’t u go to pvp. The people there use builds specifically for 1v1 or few v few. Plus u get to choose your runes and builds For Free. U don’t even have to spend so much time running back after u die too. U can also try all the classes with minimal effort. The list goes on and on.

Put a cap on quickness, say 5s. Have resistance reduce incoming damage for conditions like protection does or…. Have protection reduce incoming condition damage as well and completely remove resistance from the game.

On the condition side, allow condition stacking to occur but once said condition type has been cleansed/removed then give it an ICD (ie: 1.5 s) for reapplication. One of the biggest issues with conditions is the ease in which they can be reapplied versus cleansed.

5s is the time I take to run from my computer to my toilet. And believe they are almost side by side unlike some towers and camps and how long two groups take to ramp up their fights. Are u thinking for my potty sweetie

The tiers were supposed to balance out the population. Because people will want to transfer it, it is better for an automatic mechanism to balance out the matches. If your world is not doing so well, it should drop after a week to be matched against other worlds that aren’t so active too

I keep seeing these types of posts and honestly can’t believe some of you have difficulties against seige attacks…

Maybe get some better gear and redo your builds a bit? Maybe don’t stand in aoe damage spots and use some dodge rolls?

Have to agree. I have no sympathy for blobs that stand where they are being killed by mortar fire. Either get under it, out of range of it, or start boonsharing resistance. This is not an exclusive open field combat simulator, in spite of what some groups want. There are structures, and you will always be dealing with siege.

The mortar in the ebg keep can hit right into the tower next to it. Durris if I’m not wrong. Any place in the tower in fact. Please explain how you intend to get out of the tower while capturing it

~ At they ran over my dead body I counted no less than 40 JQ running WITH the YB group amongst them. They weren’t fighting… they were working together.. By the time I picked my jaw up off of the desk I realized I didn’t even hit record. Seriously? JQ needs that? YB needs that? I have to say I’ve heard of these things but it’s the first time I’ve seen two servers really running TOGETHER like this.

Not every character or class can use ranged weapons as a viable option. I run mostly all melee builds on my wvw toons. Some characters don’t do damage at all, and can’t defend without seige. They shouldn’t be punished while people who pew pew from walls get buffed

Don’t you think defenders need an advantage? lol. What’s a castle if there is no advantage when it comes to defending it? Might as well designate plots of flat land as castle, put some textbox label over the grass “castle”

So what would you suggest to bring the fights back to the objectives, when it is the AC damage that ran them off in the first place? How do you address the issue of entire zergs jumping on siege against the few instead of fighting? These are some of the issues that have to be addressed to revitalize WvW for the long term.

If players will not fight over objectives it is no longer an objective based game mode.

If you have that deep pockets to award every member of your zerg with a siege, then you really need to be rewarded with whatever sadistic joy you get from shooting small groups of bunnies

Tbh, people that sit on siege all day don’t really care about loot since they don’t really get loot unless people are kittened enough to sit under AC fire.
Also you would be denying loot to outnumbered players trying to defend a structure from a far large group (somenthing you’ll normally can only achieve by the use of siege).
And what if a pug drops an AC that get built in the middle of a zerg fight? That will deny an entire zerg loot just because some random troll dropped an AC?

That’s not true. I get loot on my cannons and loot from my superior ACs. It’s not a lot but it’s still some. I get more when I am on my characters but at least I still get loot. How do you know 1 person doesn’t drop bags to more than1 player anyway

I think the presence of siege enhances the feeling that we are in a war and not some barbaric all out slugging of each other in a vast open plain with no structures and no other motives. Besides, siege itself is very costly (the ones that are effective) and this balances itself out to some extent. So nope, I don’t vote for less features in game.

I’m not here to disagree with you but I want to point out that the DBL could potentially be used as a balancing factor. Note the high ppt that the green servers have generally now which means they are pretty far ahead of their peers. DBL could be used as a balancing weak point and be given to the Green server in all tiers.

While I can see how that could possibly make the larger servers weaker, it would make winning far less fun. You would be punished for doing well. I am open to alternate ways of handling the population imbalance issues, but I believe that introducing such a drastic “fix” willy nilly is counter-productive and more ignoring the problem than mitigating it.

The only in truly balancing population disparity is if Anet invokes Godmode and manually plucks and puts players into servers. Because it is human nature to stack the winning team, as in alot of other team based games such as Team Fortress. I’ve also spent a good amount of time waiting to get into Jade Quarry. so yea hurhur.

Alternatively, Anet can also go the dictatorship way and close off the transfer server option (why would they) and only assign new players the server they should go to. Of course that doesn’t bode well for guilds. so yea huhur

Suggestion for Stopping Personal ABUSE in GW2

APPENDUM and its now almost a year after the original posting and I’m still experiencing the sort of abuse mentioned here. You can also add to that the usual trolls jumping around in front of me while I’m trying to enjoy a role-playing session, setting of explosions, targeting me with flash and portal effects. Basically anything which entertains their tiny little minds. So with that in mind, ARENANET, CAN YOU PLEASE GIVE SERIOUS CONSIDERATION TOWARDS BLOCKING THE IMAGE OF ABUSERS, AS WELL AS THEIR EFFECTS/SOUND EFFECTS once blocked, so I and people like me who just want to enjoy Guild Wars 2 can block these idiots and see them VANISH, and all of the tools they are using to abuse me and others vanish right along with them!

Before anyone says it cannot be done, oh yes, it can! I’m a programmer and know something about structured programming. I also successfully implemented this when using a game called Second Life, so it is entirely possible within a structured environment to change the attributes so that they will not be rendered locally. That means that everyone else will see these people, but once I have blocked them, I will not. It is a simple and elegant solution to the abusing problem.

That said, I also suggest an amendment to the existing reporting system to include INTIMIDATION for the sake of intimidation. Most of these idiots get their fun at the expense of others by actively acting to emotionally intimidate them and I in the worse case situations where having been blocked from sending me dialogue, I still have these people IN MY FACE, bouncing up and down, inside my avatar, setting off effects and in many cases the only way to STOP SUCH ABUSE is simply to leave, or to log out completely. I play Guild Wars 2 so I can relax, so to have this happen to me – at the moment about six times a day on average – can be very irritating – and its made all the worse by the fact that they know I cannot report them for intimidating behavior.
